I am currently developing a Stream Deck system monitoring plugin for win/mac, I have implemented a few widgets so far(see attached).

I'm at a stage where I can pivot the development based on what YOU guys actually need

• What are your "must have" monitoring metrics? So far, I have implemented CPU(usage), RAM, GPU(Nvidia only, %/temp/VRAM/wattage), Disk, Network throughput

• Are you ok with installing a standalone, separate helper application that allows you to monitor deep system metrics(fan speed, cpu temperature etc).

  • This helper application will pop up and request admin privilege once during setup
  • The application will be fully open sourced
    • For those who are interested: on windows it will be a custom wrapper around LibreHardwareMonitor+ PawnIO Driver, on mac, I have not decided whether to implement the helper
  • Note: The main plugin set up will be one-click through marketplace and gives you essential metrics, but the helper setup won't be one-click; you might need to manually install some dependencies. Is this a dealbreaker for you?

• Are you looking to make the button "actionable"? For example, clicking the button brings up the task manager/ switch betweening different metrics layout. Or will it be confusing for a monitoring metrics button to be interactive?

Making the button at least have the OPTION of doing stuff would be useful, or option to do nothing. My only thought would be, not sure on the dev side how easy or hard this would be, but I always thought it would be cool if visual content like this had some "switch" when pressed, so maybe it shows the GPU temp, then you press it and it shows the GPU percent usage. Or drive C space, then press to show D, E, F and so on... Also maybe adding "warning" numbers, so if drive D gets past 75% it turns red, or blinks, or something... Just thinkin' out loud! Good luck building!

I think you need both after looking into it more - iCue has to be setup with the SDK link to allow Stream Deck to interface with it, which is how it accesses the mouse. Vangaurd 96 meanwhile has a native link since at launch iCue wasn't an option. Stream Deck 7.0 is needed for this feature at all though, as that's when Support for additional non-Stream Deck hardware was added, beyond a few of the earlier keyboards g-Keys.

I read you can add a .sdIconPack folder to the directory and put icons in there to make your own pack that loads. I didn't try it yet. I was "hacking" some plugin dial icons that I didn't like and read this. Not sure any details tho.

notes taken, implementing is easy, but I am just thinking whether to make the button interactive by default, or non-interactive by default(opt in). If user touches a button and the layout got changed, this might not be what they expect.
For a traditional stream deck that sits away from the user, user is unlikely to accidentaly touch a button, but it might happen more frequently w/ a device like CORSAIR GALLEON 100 SD

Also maybe adding "warning" numbers, so if drive D gets past 75% it turns red, or blinks, or something.

For some reason my soundboard buttons require discord access, which I've accepted but still just keeps trying to ask for permission. Any suggestions?

That's a Discord Soundboard action not a Stream Deck one which is why it needs permissions there.
Is Discord not popping up asking for authorization when you try to request access? (Discord does have to be running for that). Also is this PC or mac?

If it's not popping to authorize at all there's a few things to check.

First check that Stream Deck itself is up to date, and that the plugin in the settings is also up to date (Stream Deck is currently 7.4.1, and the plugin is 2.2.0.98). Also Discord itself should be updated. If you have more than one Discord account setup check if you previously authorized it on a different account as well.

After that, the usual fixes for Discord auth issues, are first to remove it from the Discord authorization settings in that app, and add/test it again by re-adding the action to you Stream Deck.

If that fails:

Uninstall Discord, rename the %appdata%\Discord folder to something different, and reinstall it. This usually fixes a repeating authorization issue. Don't delete the old folder in case you need to put it back, or have to get support involved as it contains useful logs. This should prevent Discord from getting tripped up in leftover data from previous authorizations can can cause it to retrigger. Rebooting between the uninstall and reinstall is also suggested to make sure none of the old files are locked open.

Failing that if it still keeps resetting the authorization or failing to authorize, back up your Stream Deck profiles, and note installed plugins, uninstall the app, then rename the %appdata%\Elgato\StreamDeck to something else before reinstalling so you keep the logs in there, but the app doesn't find any old settings. (This is assuming for PC. MacOS it's probably in the application support library for the same files.)

You probably shouldn't make it to the end of that list and still have issues but if it doesn't work past that, reach out to #official-tech-support and file a ticket through the chat system on the website or call in the number on the link in that channel.

This is a Standby screen - it means the deck is up but it can't talk to the app on the computer. Restart the app, and doublje check the USB cable isn't loose somewhere (that looks like a Mk.1 deck so it only unplugs on the PC side). If the cable has failed and isn't sending data anymore that'd also do it - does your Stream Deck app see the deck connected at all?

Right now just the Scimitar Elite Wireless SE (Specifically the SE version, there's a bug where iCue may tell you the original Elite has g-key integration for it, but it does not).

My Stream Deck buttons have started not working correctly on my Stream Deck. It no longer works unless the Elgato Control Center is open. It's a recent thing. I would think that the Elgato Stream Deck controlling the Elgato Key Lights would be the easiest thing for them to keep working.

It's mapped, it's been working fine. The Control Center works fine, but the button doesn't control the lights unless the control center popup is visible. That didn't used to work that way.

anyone found a fix for the wave link plugin yet? The 'main output device' switch is refusing to show my headphones - it actually works if I use the one I originally setup, but on the drop down list it doesn't show the headphones. Wave links shows them as an option with no problem

Nothing is saved to the SD+ except if you set a custom standby screen. If you're not satisfied with your current profile, you can just create a new one. If you really want to start over, under devices you'd disable it and forget the device. When you replug it back in, you'll be back to the default elgato buttons

Normally when you go through troubleshooting with the bot it'll eventually hit the point where it generates a ticket, or you can tell it to open one directly and it should start asking if you want to contact them via email or phone and fill out the ticket for you.
The sources there probably are where it's pulling the old link form is all, all the products would have gone to the same help link before

Tried to update my stream deck today but it was bugging out and failing, figured an uninstall and reinstall would fix the issue. However it won’t install now and keeps rolling back. Hi. I do not really need a tech help but maybe someone here will have a solution for me. I have bought Stream Deck + bundle with XLR dock in the past. I no longer need the XLR dock, instead I could use the USB hub that can be connected to Deck+. But the bundle did not include the stand the classic Deck+ (which is replaced with rhe XLR dock). If I remove the dock, I have nothing that would make the Deck stand 🤷‍♂️ Does anyone have a solution for this? Even if I buy the USB hub that thing is expecting the default stand to be there…

I had the new XLR Dock mk2 stop working abruptly one night and have used a backup USB mic since. The Steam Deck+ hasn't had any hiccups and has continued to work fine since, but Wave Link can no longer see the mk2 dock and my XLR isn't functional or detected. Is there a goto set of troubleshooting for this? If it was power / USB the whole thing would be disabled / dead, yeah? It worked fine for a week or two before this happened.

Hi, don't know if anyone knows the answer but thought I'd toss it in here: I've had a Stream Deck + I've been using for the better part of probably a year and a half now? And I've been a big fan of the Volume Controller plugin tied to the dials for specific application usage. Only kicker is, I recently upgraded my microphone to an XLR model, got an XLR capable audio interface to go alongside it, and now the Volume Controller plugin doesn't seem to work on applications? Wasn't sure if there was a way for me to maintain both sides

hello everyone i have a small or maybe big problem not sure but here it goes, i play sim racing games, in assetto corsa comp, i run a profile on my stream deck for pit car controls on track such as wipers lights etc... and it works great, until i run opentrack, which is my head tracking software for my tobii eye tracker 5, then my streamdeck stops responding to my commands in game, i am sure there is a work around or fix for this i just have not found it yet i tried run as administrator etc... and nothing is working so i am assuming it has everything to do with input output device or input output profile issue, any help would be greatly appreciated, and thank you in advance.

My first thought is you might be overloading the USB controller you're connecting the Deck and tracker too. Are they both connected directly to the PC? If so use a tool like USB Device Tree Viewer https://www.uwe-sieber.de/usbtreeview_e.html to check if they're both listed under the same controller on the PC (the left side will show controllers with green card icons). If you're running them into a hub - don't. Bypass it for at least the Deck as that can also lead to bottlenecks in the data rate (and power if it's an unpowered hub).

The Streamlabs plugin likely isn't meant to handle dual accounts like that - I'd suggest setting up a different Windows Profile. Stream Deck stores your configs in your user space, so if you Switch Windows Users you can have a completely different config set and ready to go. Otherwise reach out to Streamlabs for help and/or feature requests for their plugin.

I was having issues with my power on/off toggle with my Govee lights. I have to press my power toggle on stream deck twice for it to shut off. Try manually turning on your light and find it in stream deck and re-assign your shortcut. This helped me once but I don’t have a concrete fix

When you moved/renamed the Stream Deck folder while it was uninstalled, did you get the StreamDeck or the Stream Deck with a space one? If you had an older version of Stream Deck at some point it may have had both, and I've seen people move the wrong one before

You might also try renaming the %appdata%\Elgato\DiscordPlugin folder after removing the Stream Deck app to be safe

Could be - Discord did have a major partial outage yesterday and had a bunch of stuff rate limited when it came back up.

I'd log a ticket with #official-tech-support to look into it though - they can take a couple days to get back to you too, so best to have it opened now and if it clears up on it's own just reply back to the email it'll send you to cancel it

There might also be something going on since the Discord outage the other day on their side - I know they had some things rate limited while it was coming back online, and have seen a bit of a uptick since then. It might be worth rebooting everything just to make sure you're on a fresh Discord session

Are these Elgato Facecams? If so you should be asking in #camera-prompter . But webcams do tend to like a lot of lighting - turning up the ISO helps, but results in noisier images. If your main streaming light is out and you can't get exposure or ISO to compensate for it, try adding even a basic desk light or something to increase the overall light in the scene (you may have to adjust colour tone on the image as most desk lights run heavy warm or blue depending on if they're incandescent or LED).

Most newer models have removable cables, sounds like you have the original.
When you say set it to not power off do you mean you set that in the app, or you disabled USB power management that allows Windows to put the whole thing to sleep?

Anyone figure out how to get the stream deck + to work with discord mine hasn’t worked in months

First check that Stream Deck itself is up to date, and that the plugin in the settings is also up to date (Stream Deck is currently 7.4.1, and the plugin is 2.2.0.98). Also Discord itself should be updated. If you have more than one Discord account setup on the same PC check if you previously authorized it on a different account as well.

After that, the usual fixes for Discord auth issues, are first to remove it from the Discord authorization settings in that app, and add/test it again by re-adding the action to you Stream Deck to see if it at least pops up.

If that fails:

Uninstall Discord, rename the %appdata%\Discord folder to something different, and reinstall it. This usually fixes a repeating authorization issue. Don't actually delete the old folder in case you need to put it back, or have to get support involved as it contains useful logs. This should prevent Discord from getting tripped up in leftover data from previous authorizations can can cause it to retrigger. Rebooting between the uninstall and reinstall is also required to make sure none of the old files or settings are locked open or still resident in memory.

Failing that if it still keeps resetting the authorization or failing to authorize, back up your Stream Deck profiles, and note installed plugins, uninstall the app, then rename the %appdata%\Elgato\StreamDeck to something else before reinstalling so you keep the logs in there, but the app doesn't find any old settings. (This is assuming for PC. MacOS it's probably in the application support library for the same files.)

You probably shouldn't make it to the end of that list and still have issues but if it doesn't work past that, reach out to ⁠official-tech-support and file a ticket through the chat system on the website or call in the number on the link in that channel.

I was able to get around it by writing a python script to press a virtual key on my desktop when I use key logic on a button. The virtual key it presses is a multiaction button but I don't know why they couldn't have just added that feature natively. seems like an easy thing to allow.

small tip in the future. if you have a program that hangs and you want to reboot to fix it. you can always throw the restart command with a -force which will try to force all things to close and hopefully close anything stuck. sometimes a basic shutdown still hangs (in my experience when something like that happened)

You make your own custom icon. The website action pulls the favican (the small icon that shows up on browser tabs), if the site you add doesn't have one or you don't like it, you can always screenshot snip a distinguishing piece of the site's page to use as your icon, for the fastest fix.

Depends on your setup, what app you're using and the plugin used. Eg, if you're using OBS the there's an OBS Tools plugin for Stream Deck that can be setup to control OBS on another computer via websockets. Most apps won't have support to control the second PC though

If you have multiple profiles, it’s easier to use Backup All.

Then swap the Stream Decks and after the new one is setup, import or restore.

No matter what i try (auto update or manual update after downloading it from elgato) I get this during install process.

I see somethig strange in the error, it seems to expect v7.4.0.22712 but latest installer (downloaded from elgato) is 7.4.2.22730 so even if i manually select the expect resource i get the error from the second screen

Curious if anyone here uses the Stream Deck + XL with the XLR dock and works for you? I know El Gato doesn’t officially support this, but a YouTuber said he got it to work with no issues. Also curious if they have announced or hinted at a new XLR dock for the Stream Deck + XL

Anyone have any insight on the Stream Deck+ XL's power usage? Not sure if I got a bad egg or not, but I can't get enough power to mine, and when I finally got it to show buttons, I pressed one and i* blue screened my computer. I have a pretty beefy PC, but I'm wondering if there's some compatibilty issues. Used a Stream Deck XL for 5-6 years and was so excited for this one, but right now it's looking like I'm going to have to return it.

You can actually copy entire pages by right clicking the small page button indicator. If you paste it into the XLR page indicator page, it'll be a brand new page... But if you paste it into a button, it'll make a folder with that page's actions. I've found it's faster to drag actions from one page to another, but sometimes it's useful to have them in a folder.

You can always drag and drop buttons, pages, folders, or profiles to the desktop to drag back into the app.

First check that Stream Deck itself is up to date, and that the plugin in the settings is also up to date (Stream Deck is currently 7.4.2, and the plugin is 2.2.0.98). Also Discord itself should be updated. If you have more than one Discord account setup on the same PC check if you previously authorized it on a different account as well.

After that, the usual fixes for Discord auth issues, are first to remove it from the Discord authorization settings in that app, and add/test it again by re-adding the action to you Stream Deck to see if it at least pops up.

If that fails:

Uninstall Discord, rename the %appdata%\Discord folder to something different, and reinstall it. This usually fixes a repeating authorization issue. Don't actually delete the old folder in case you need to put it back, or have to get support involved as it contains useful logs. This should prevent Discord from getting tripped up in leftover data from previous authorizations can can cause it to retrigger. Rebooting between the uninstall and reinstall is also required to make sure none of the old files or settings are locked open or still resident in memory.

Failing that if it still keeps resetting the authorization or failing to authorize, back up your Stream Deck profiles, and note installed plugins, uninstall the app, then rename the %appdata%\Elgato\StreamDeck to something else before reinstalling so you keep the logs in there, but the app doesn't find any old settings. (This is assuming for PC. MacOS it's probably in the application support library for the same files.)

You probably shouldn't make it to the end of that list and still have issues but if it doesn't work past that, reach out to #official-tech-support and file a ticket through the chat system on the website or call in the number on the link in that channel.

It's known to work for some folks, but there's some unlisted requirements usually related to host port power output. So officially it's unsupported, unofficially it's try at your own risk, since it might not work. Most of the people I know who've tried it have made out okay, some have not.

Team hasn't said anything about any new versions, but I suspect more folks in that segment are likely to go after the Wave XLR Pro when it comes out than XLR Dock.

It only lists USB 3.0 as the requirement, so should be fine on the standard 4.5W outlet.
Did the BSOD give you any indicator what crashed? Was it the Stream Deck app or your USB controller, etc?

Tbh it wasn’t a BSOD it was a black screen with full caps white writing on the bottom but it happened too fast to read. I also couldn’t get it to work with my macbook pro either. The power requirement is either way too high or maybe it’s a lemon. Not sure. It’s a bummer though.

They changed the BSOD colour to black last summer. Why? Who knows with MS these days.
Could be a cable problem too - eg short in the wire. Happen to have another cable about you can test with? Needs to be rated for at least 4.5W / USB 3.0

It's possible it's not. Launch model XL used USB 3.0 for poart, but there's a later hardware revision that only needs USB 2.0 (iirc more power efficient screen is the only difference).
