btw am I the only one bothered by how the deer is too self-sacrificial in a destructive way in this retelling? I was internally screaming "by any proper rescue rules you are not allowed to give away your life if you have responsibility to keep creatures alive & protect them, just bc you feel sorry for some random guy is not a reason to abandon main duty!"

I don't think it's about the deer feeling sorry for them, it feels more like it's about forgiveness
And because of that choice to forgive and sacrifice the villager felt guilt and remorse and chose to help free the creatures which in turn all chose to gift what was gifted to them for the deer to return to life

Forgiveness is good and all, but sacrificing those you have duty to for the sake of helping every person you see in the street is not. Self sacrifice is often glorified but actually in this story what we see well are consequences: krills attacking, everyone almost dying etc. And often in life traitors don't get redeemed and help to save the day. Forgiving is good but being naive and letting someone harm others because you see good in them is not

Yeah it'll teleport you to that area, but it's not a special area closed off to the playerbase without the cape. The deer is currently timed, but that could be a bug. We're not sure yet since beta be beta

I've never experienced the Little Prince cape, but the Aurora one seemed to be the best one out of the three.

Honestly I feel like if they're gonna make the cape teleport ya' somewhere (which yes ik it does rn) it should teleport ya' to an alternate version of the deer's lil' meadow place or whatever it is, with different lighting and stuff. That way it'd have the exclusivity of other collab capes while still keeping a bit of the original intention intact

I see what you mean, but in was also glad that they didn't go with the "villager dies, everyone else involved is fine" version. The villager did betray the deer, but so did the princess, king, and hunter, and they were even more instrumental in the whole thing and had way more power. The villager was trying to escape poverty, the others just wanted a trophy. When the king makes bad decisions the land suffers.

I see that, but I think that the deer is an analogy for the land itself, that produces for everyone without any sense or ability for self- preservation, until greed renders it unable to. It's more of a force of nature than an individual.

I don't think it's the same as Eden sacrifice, because Eden is related to rebirth and spiritual world and more like equivalent of emotional sacrifice that during life gives light to others and often leaves us drained, but saves a lot of souls in the end, while the deer is alive and has duty to protect creatures & sacrifices it's limited life force and has to abandon duty early because it died from owerwork.

I always felt Eden sacrifice is beautiful but here I get kinda triggered by some similar life experiences where others just burn themselves out

the deer’s existence is important and protects everyone so it also shows what happens when you ignore that and hurt the creature on purpose

Hii anyone else have trouble with the IAP mask of the season? I got the IAP when it was together with the cape but I never was able to use the mask, It says I can buy it at the store or at a special place in sky but it doesn't appear anywhere, I also have some friends that have the same problem

so you will never get it in beta cuz you got it early

Okay so I finally got to see the deer, and for me it went like this:

• XX:53: the deer appeared and slid cross the water laying down,
• XX:55: the deer started walking back and forth
• XX:03: the deer laid down and the and mantas appeared next to it.
• XX:06: deer starts running in the air with the mantas and jellyfish
• XX:15: the deer walks into the clouds and vanishes

I don’t like the design of it very much (shape of nose, earless, looks grumpy) and I think it’s ok to save your candles if you don’t want it. They might make more items that color though if matching is your only issue.

It is very expensive for a mask, the Aurora limited time mask was 50 candles only iirc, but there were also the more expensive 200 candle pants on top of that, and the mask was more plain.

I really don't understand why making a color adjustment isn't a thing that's happened since it's been so long into the season. The ears are such a different white it looks jarring when worn with the mask unless the photo is heavily edited with filters.

I also think the shape should have resembled the actual deer itself more. Who knows tho. Maybe they do eventually change to at least get the colors matching. It's the bare minimum of what I'm hoping for. Otherwise I'll probably never wear the two together.

I mean it's definitely supposed so be the deer. The deer in the source material looks different from the guide and mask slightly, but I feel the mask should either resemble the guide more or the source material more itself. Instead it doesn't really resemble either in terms of shape so that just feels funky to me.

But yeah, I've watched the 9 color deer animation a few times and there's nothing else really the masks can resemble except the deer from the animation. There isn't a mask or anything in the story that is similar to it or any other animal either. So I'd just like it to be shaped similar. At the very least have the overall colors match with the ears to the mask or vice versa so they fit together in a more harmonious way 🤝 Was a good question though.

The mask and the other deer cosmetics are supposed to be 'the essence of the deer', because if cosmetics exactly resembled it there would be weird implications to a story where someone wanted that deer's hide, so I understand why they did it this way.
I agree that it should've fit with the antlers more, but overall I don't understand the complaint, the mask is pretty cute. I feel all the disappointment I've read comes only from the fact that y'all expected a gratitude deer mask recolour when this deer mask is not even a true ult

I don't think the mask is ugly by any means and didn't say I wanted a gratitude recolor. I don't hate the mask, I just have a few things I think would be better if adjusted. And if it was made to look like the source material animation which wouldn't be close to the deer in game in terms of shape I'd still like that more. I just think it looks like a fox and would like it to look more deer like to me.

I also don't think there's be weird implications seeing as it's assumed by aviary most masks are made by the guides. I like the antlers and mask, just because I have some criticisms of it doesn't mean I don't think it's cute.

Debatably, lorewise, we come from a celestial entity that is referred to as a (mega)bird. In the early beta the original home/landing space was also Aviary, so I think that also plays a part in rooting the character design as more bird than insect in origin.

I was speculating if the new kitchen props are going to be reused in the restaurant(?) that OOBers are finding/was scrapped from the Aviary trailer. There sure are a decent number of them and in high detail, so it would make sense that they’d be reused somewhere. I’m really interested in the concept that a restaurant may be a future quest in the season or a permanent Aviary fixture introduced at some point, like fireworks festival and quest cafe.

What I'm gonna say may be a bit controversial, but I think most people dislike Aviary because it came as a "substitute" to the traditional Home, which is understandable, since most things are happening there now, and most veterans have grown used to the comfort of what we already know. I just wanted to say- please, give it a chance! There's lovely improvements happening, and maybe a season that isn't so cosmetic-focused could be a breath of fresh air! (:

I aswell didn't move to Aviary, but still, have good hopes for the changes that are coming.

Though, if it is still to the disliking of some people, I hope the next season is more pleasing to your taste!!

Also, if a game just sticks to the same thing constantly, and doesn't change or adapt, it won't grow or become better. Yes, change isn't always a good thing, and sometimes TGC make mistakes or choose a path that a lot of players aren't happy with, but it's so important to stay open minded and actually give things a chance.

As a long time player, the traditional home space will always feel more comfortable and familiar, but aviary represents something new and exciting! I'm personally really looking forward to the direction TGC are taking and how this season will evolve aviary village further

Yeah I agree 100%! Also, TGC have given players the choice on whether to make aviary village their new home space or not. If a player wanted to, they could treat it simply as another area added within a season, with a few more functions. They've not forced change onto those who don't want it, and that's really good.

Aviary caused too many inconveniences with them trying to move everything there and then backing up on some things, that's some good reasons to dread it. There's nothing indicating events at home, there's nothing indicating ts, it's just more opportunities for everyone to miss things.

My biggest complaint specifically to the environment is that it feels both too cramped to fly in it, and too vast for you to get anywhere, and I don't see them changing any of it much. I don't feel like any of it adds much new, just a slightly different presentations of the same things

Like, they added a little cafe with spirits hanging out there, and it's cute, but they all give all the same old dailies. I wish they expanded the pool again at least or something

Im finally home and had some time to check out the workshop. I love it so much; during the camping event I was a bit wary because I wasn’t the biggest fan of the props, but this housing system exceeds all expectations

Honestly the furnitures are pretty and really detailled but it really feels off, the colors are off and not even vibrant, and the fact that mostly all furnitures are made with stone is what makes this feels off, a little bit of wood 🪵 would be cool..

Same for our house exterior, this doesn’t even look like a house but a basement or a bunker, doesn’t look warm and welcoming at all. Just stone, a house built in a wall. I was hoping for a cute shaped house 🏠…

I've tried buying a couple of the items which I'm assuming are the ones on display in front of the shop counter, they pop up as notifications in your prop menu but you can't see them yet

Looking at the new furnishings, I’m not sure I’m that into them… they all seem very generic and lacking personality. To me the fun of decorating in games is expressing your own unique style, but that’s hard to do if all the furniture has the exact same aesthetic with no variety - the only real difference between two people’s spaces is just how they choose to arrange the furniture.

If you think of something like Animal Crossing, a player can express their unique style through their choice of bed, for example - they could have a mushroom bed, or a sleek modern bed, or a cozy rustic bed… we can’t do that because there’s only one bed that looks the exact same for everyone. We can’t even change any of the colors, they’re all just dull grays, which seems strange in such an otherwise colorful game. As it is now, I feel like I’d be more inclined to just make a big pillow fort in my house than use any of the actual furniture they’ve added…

Def needs more color, more soft fabric, and cozy elements. It's veryyyy industrial right now. Though that being said It's still extremely early in beta and I'm very impressed with the amount of new items.

Maybe implementing color variations for each one? Would make each skid's room more unique.

Because the first nodes of the signs in workshop have the nodes cost the same as the mannequins in revival, I think this is another no spirit season and we might see the other guides who didn't appear in revival in this questline

I dont really mind that they're for hearts, it feels like it could be to prevent overwhelming candle prices for furniture plus events plus ts stuff, that and I think they like to use hearts for props that we can use in a meaningful way, so to me having props for hearts as part of nesting makes some sense - it does seem like a lot at 200 hearts total but prices could always change later and I guess we don't have to buy everything at once, I'd assume the things will be available after the season since they're not tied to seasonal candles

We don't know yet because the build is still very WIP - right now, players can't actually own the items outside of the Shared Space Shrine in the Aviary shop just yet. (Buying the props from the shop doesn't add them to your closet. They also aren't previewable in the closet either.)

• speaking of the aviary questline, i think i might have bugged the guide after getting the 1st quest's heart reward. it says it's currently ongoing but there's no cutscene nor the next spirit involved.

Hi! So afaik, the Aviary storyline would be “ongoing”, meaning you don’t necessarily have to return to Hopeful Steward everytime you complete a quest.

For the first quest (Rhythm guide), you cleansed the darkness in the shop. The second quest should be the Enchantment guide.

Do you either:

• see another “encased” spirit somewhere near one of the shops?
  Or
• Can you return to Hopeful Steward and start the next quest?

I agree with those who say that many objects/furniture should have interactions... (in the bed there should be the interaction to lie down like in the hammock for example, and perhaps be able to get under the covers, the candles should be able to light , even the kitchen should be able to have a function, some interaction, and there should be interaction to sit on the sofas/chairs…). Furthermore, the material is only rock, it would also be nice to have them made of other materials such as wood and to be able to change the colours... Otherwise it's all too boring, all just for appearances, and it would really be a disappointment 🥲

It really does, I've enjoyed other seasons but usually I'm just like ahhh I need the next quest IMMEDIATELY where as with Nesting I've just been so enthralled with all the possibilities with the new furniture that it's been a fun distraction! I really think this will be a great thing when the season goes live too, I don't know if they intend to slow the pace down with how much furniture we can get and such later on, but I think even having half of what we've had so far would still tide live players over for a couple of weeks until the following quest and so on.

I know not everyone is a fan of shared spaces, truth be told I wasn't overly unless it was making them with friends in mind or seeing what other friends had made for me to hang out in, but now I'm very interested in a lot of the creations and it's actually made me appreciate comments as a feature a lot more too because of how positive the interactions have been!

Is there a trick to placing items at weird angles other than placing them against another thing? Like can you set it at an angle and then shift a thing horizontally ?

You just have to set it up first and then meticulously angle the thing you want to place then delete the rest

if you want more varied angles and have the patience for it, place a round object first so you can mess with how how the second object you want in place orients (you may go crazy)

The team is looking at other ways for making platforms and walls, that aren't quite as, uh, janky as making rugs do non-rug things. I can't give an ETA on that but the goal for the change is to promote non-jankiness!

hopefully the platforms and walls are thin because that's what makes the rugs good else it's too chunky with the limited vertical height of the space

Platforms and walls are cool and helpful things to add but maybe the rugs can stack and behave like the other items too if you want a circular platform or just a flying carpet for some reason, does it have to only sit on the ground when other items can be placed however you want?

why not do a divider wall kinda idea? it can be one of those normal flat ones, or the kind that folds into itself! that way skids don't have to break the 4th wall for walls

What if in future seasons we revisit the old guides, and with the help of the nesting guide, we get furniture and props related to that season
Like assembly could give you very nature/cottagecore items, and abyss could give you aquatic plants or krill lights

Was this before the update? Sometimes when they ship a new build out the timer gets changed because the quest still isn't ready or they need us to focus on testing the stuff they changed from the previous build - it's also normal for beta timers to be incorrect, but it is sad when the countdown tells you it'll be a matter of hours and then suddenly we're back to days

I've left some feedbacks about wanting to be able to use the carpets as partitions and floor, i hope the devs would consider it. Or maybe they would add new item so we can do it without using all those shelfs :'> i saw many other creations and most of them have a loft

I’ve also left feedback. I know there’s possibility of having actual floors & partitions as props in the future, but I hope we can revert back to how it was until then. The sheer creativity of people amazes me and I think not being able to use them as walls (for now) really limits that creativity.

Because storyline wise it’s quite different: Remembrance was about seeking refuge from a war, loss and finding solace. This current season feels more casual, and just building a home because we can . Is it the game mechanic or quest format?

I'm not talking about the Season's story, because this season doesn't even look like it's going to have a story in itself, it's just going to be focused on construction
but I want to refer to the issues of Shared Space, where it will be focused this season and unfortunately I find it very annoying that a season focuses only on that, and as Remembrance had this up in Shared space, this season seems to me to be the same in this regard.

I guess I wasn't very objective in the image I posted and ended up not putting the situation into context
And no problems with the random ping btw.
But let's say that this current season is 30 or 40% of the Season of Remembrance..

Ooooh okay, I get you! Gameplay-wise, remembrance indeed introduced social aspects to shared spaces and was focused on making them. Personally I see it as an integral part of the story: Skykids were helping the spirits find solace in a dark, and ‘broken’ place.

TGC announced that Nesting is primarily focused on expanding / rebuilding the Aviary, so I think you’re right that this season won’t have a more prominent storyline. Buuut as we’re still in the first few builds (and have only done 1 quest) I do believe there is still a lot of time to give feedback!

I also think it’s completely fine to not be a fan of every type of content the game makes, but it’s also really nice to hear another side here in the beta chats

Are there any suggestions you think of to make this season a better experience for you?

According to TGC, this season will be the expansion/reconstruction of the Aviary
I hope they meant it literally, that we really will have an expansion of the place, because in the first version of the beta the aviary had more things (Like a mini coliseum with a giant dark plant, some swings in the air)

So I really hope that this is the case and not just a house for Skykid and the opening of a store for construction items.
