This is honestly kind of mean for me to say, but I think that might actually be a good thing because it could tip the balance. Old players who want to gatekeep their Ults from the earliest Seasons leave, new people come in who see all those fancy items they’ll never be able to get just because they didn’t start playing during a certain time, and they’ll quite justifiably deem it unfair. Enough people get talking, TGC will have to listen.

Personally, I think “2.0 Ults” like the Performance Penguin hair or the Season of Radiance antelope mask don’t really address the core issue. They’re still pretty to look at and wear, and you still feel a sense of accomplishment from earning them, but they are not replacements, and never can be.

In a social game like Sky where playing dress-up with your Sky Kid is a huge part of the game, permanently locking certain items only limits the ability of players to express themselves and their outfit creativity.

But I think there’s a trend of the people who want to gatekeep Ults also often happening to be vets who have been around for a long time, and thus, likely have some of those controversial, exclusive, highly coveted things themselves.

somehow i feel like im both on the "its ok that its exclusive" side and the "i think everyone should have access to this at some point" since i like admiring it on other players its like a cool trophy i get to awe at and whenever i light someone and theyre wearing the dreams cape or the anubis mask i like jumping in excitement /lh i know a lot of older players would rather keep their ults exclusive which is understandable to a degree so having an alternative would be nice, i wouldnt say im looking for replacements but new and fresh options would be pleasant at least i would feel like a fake if i was wearing an anubis mask /lh

Some people resort to buying and selling their accounts, which is against Sky’s ToS btw! And is grounds for an account ban. Just to try to get those old Ults they so desperately want, and by doing so, could risk losing both the new account they just bought, and potentially even their preexisting one. The one selling could get in trouble too. That’s just not good for anyone.

I was a f2p player once and it is really hard when you can’t get the stuff you want. But TGC can be flexible about it if they wanted.

What we can’t support is gatekeeping the items on a game just because vets wants to feel better and more exclusive than other new players. Even gacha games (which are a money pit and every f2p player nightmare) does reruns of their cards so they can get money from new players.

yeah actually, it probably was that. i think one example was i was playing a game i thought was harmless (as in no surprises to jump scare me or whatever) very late at night, ran into a hostile npc in a dark area that killed me and played a very loud sound and it scared the hell outta me.

now that i think about it, that darn sea serpent in Tiny Sailors World played a big part in it

it only attacked submarines, at night in the game, and only if they were submerged deep enough (pretty sure on the last one). always played a specific ambiance when it attacked, you couldnt outrun it, it had a red glow, and if it locked onto you (basically just spawned) not even surfacing would save you

didnt help i played a lot of late night sessions trying to find a badge

Yes yes! I pulled an Aladdin and took them flying high up through the air. We also used my shepherd’s staff to herd some lil light creatures and fly with them! Then I brought them in the waterfall area and set up a tent.
