I have another personal lore for sky.

For sky children, it's impolite to look at others without a mask, so with maskless cosmetics and its variants, sky children would always have their eyes closed.

Perhaps the main reason why is because the glow of their eyes is so blindingly bright without a mask, so masks would tend to obscure and dim that light a bit.

Even more interesting-- we notice that in the broken mask of the Injured Soldier, that the inside of the mask is filled with some sort of blue crystalline substance, probably darkstone

My own personal lore is: the Sky kingdom is a lot bigger than we see ingame. But the wilds beyond are considered dangerous, so not many explore beyond the realms. No-one steps into Eden except the bravest (and they rarely return), and the only reason Golden Wasteland is explored is because it’s the only way to Vault of Knowledge when that portal goes down and new Skykids descend there.

Something not seen is, each occupied realm has its own homespace - that being a point where new skykids most often fall. The canon skykid (us) is a Daylight Prairie skykid, and so that is their homespace, being on an isle some distance away from Sanc. They see no others, except for the Aviary, which has recently been reoccupied as a central meeting ground for skykids from all realms. But they exist.

For the others: I imagine Isle’s is a sandy cove. Forest’s is a hidden clearing not far from the Treehouse. Valley skykids make their home at the very peak of the mountains. Wasteland skykids occupy an old, dusty ruin. And Vault skykids are at an oasis in Starlight Desert.

Probably! It’s just that we don’t see it. Portals exist as a convenient way to get around safe (and Golden Wasteland) zones, and every home has them. Every realm also has the Eden portal, but most give that a wide berth.

Probably quite dangerous, too. I imagine the wilds to be quite dicey.

Hey, at least it was later rather than sooner! Me, I’d fought Lynels in BotW, so I was able to take that experience to TotK.

TotK Lynels are easier to me, so it’s not so bad… but then it got replaced with a new Lynel Threshold in Gleeoks. Fought one, too.

Saying that, though, I don’t think the existence of the Threshold invalidates the games. Stardew Valley, one of my all-time favourites, has two. It’s just a minor issue on all counts.

I’m going to continue on with my Stardew Valley example, if you’ve played that? The first of it is getting coffee (and only gets deeper if you also pair it with Spicy Eel). Once you start using that regularly, moving at normal speed becomes so much harder, because everything takes so long.

And the second is the endgame Skull Caverns Invaded quest, where the difficult endgame challenge dungeon becomes even harder. But because it becomes even harder, it trivialises the challenge of the original, so once it goes back to normal, it becomes difficult to even do that because it feels way too easy. Usually that’s when I end up dropping a playthrough for a while.

To be honest
The second threshold i disagree with because the combat in stardew is a lot more based on your equipment than your skill
If you're able to survive the buffed skull caverns, you'd probably steamroll regular caverns even if you never did invaded quests

That’s fair! But here’s the thing - in my case, I get used to the frantic fighting in the Invaded caverns, especially if I’m using less than optimal gear (I usually don’t - I have a setup I like, and stick to it). So once it goes back to normal, something feels missing. Before you take it on, they feel more fun, if that makes sense? Like it doesn’t feel so calm and safe down there as it does after.

That’s mostly what defines the Lynel Threshold to me - if something is fun before and after passing said milestone.

Usually, I collect wax from the two daily realms and the Wind Paths! I also stop by Sanctuary Isles every second hour for geyser (next happens in just under half an hour), Hidden Forest's sunny clearing for Granny (in just under an hour), and then sunset back at Sanc (five minutes after Granny leaves).

Once you have more candles, you can trade some in to spirits for hearts, if it helps! Three per. I'd recommend keeping a hold of some for in case a past seasonal spirit with a really cool cape shows up.

A lot of the capes from regular spirits need you to open a lock in the spirit tree
That lock costs eden candles
They're from the last area you'll unlock in the game

So, I remember on my first run, I was in the Isle and all, where I made a friend because I didn’t know how to jump and they helped me get up.
And, during the season, when I was done with one dailies- they were at the home. And they know I’m scared of Eden so they took me through and we got the piggy back ride- and they lit my start today, and it reminded me that I wanted to share
