I think what helps me the most is, deep calling. If you're ever not sure where to do, deep calling helps light the area a little tiny bit. So you can more clearly see shadows and, to a certain extent, the next candle in the trail.

Speaking of shadows, following where they go can be surprisingly handy. Not at first because they approach from the front, but as soon as they start approaching from the back, they'll actually travel along the route you want to go, so if you're careful, they can actually show you where to go.
(You can technically follow their route from when they approach from the front, it's just not so easy to outright follow.)

Used to be crabs on a stick, and then tgc thought it was too cruel for ankle-crushing craggy crustaceans, they switched it to a hot tub.

And I swear, whatever tgc fears, it is not possible to cook sky children.

You can pressure cook one, and I bet you they'll be fine.
Not even dark dragons can eat them. They just spit them out and forget they're inedible in mere seconds so they try to eat them again.

tbh I think moth and veteran are really the only solid ones. but theyre very much dependant on lots of little factors
imo i see it as
moth > buff moth (got some cool accessories from current season, doing other seasonal quests) > regular player (regularly customised, completing constellations, recent season + ts items) > and finally veterans, which i think is like.. theyve got all the older season items and probably are either inactive and burnt out, playing sky for social now, and/or have like 1000 unused candles.

vultures are people who always do shards and will carry anyone through eden, they'll spend their time in wasteland looking for people who got krilled so they can swoop in and get that wl back

albatrosses know all the cool flying tricks legends say to be an albatross you must be able to do the manta call spirit in under half a minute

eagles like acting as guides for anyone and everyone who might need one. its not just moths- they'll help even just someone who can't tell whether the daily spirit is dismiss or salute. maybe they're the oobers too

phoenixes like arson. and by that i mean they're excellent at candle runs, regardless of how often they do them, or how often those candle runs are just sitting at geyser and granny's...

fancy pigeons love cosmetics and have so many different outfits. they're like an encyclopedia for sky fashion

Cozy, I've never had avocado toast (picky American family and they force the pickiness onto the next generation which is upsetting to me because I don't wanna be a picky eater anymore)

I was able to use my star items to make a player happy. Let them see themselves with their dream cape and got them to the concert. Use the aurora instrument. It makes me happy to make people smile

that place holds meaning to me because someone once friended me and another person to take there and we set down a chat campfire on one of the planets you could stop on and introduced ourselves, finding we were all from different countries (USA, russia, and i believe japan?) and marveled at how the in-game translator allowed us all to communicate without a hitch, no language, societal, or physical barriers stopping us from just talking like anybody else

one of my moths still remembers me as the one who guided them through eden the first time and we also had to rely on the translator because they cant speak english, but the translator made that not even an issue? sky's translator has to be literally the best ive ever seen in any game period

is is scary, but you never forget the feeling of making it through either the first time yourself or helping someone else who likely feels the same as you once did. it's absolutely worth the struggle of getting there, and having people with you makes it both easier AND heavier-hitting in the feels

when i was a moth, i was taken in by a long-time player who only took me up to the point of no return and said while she cant come with me this time, she believes in me. that really left a positive impact on me (and given this was prior to eden's difficulty increase, but later down the line ive been able to do it again post-difficulty increase!) and while i havent left any of my moths to go in alone, im glad she did that with me! it's what i specifically needed for my experience to hit as hard as it was supposed to

man i feel you, im a huge aurora fan and my friend and i did a gift exchange that year during that time bc of the holidays. for them i got them the journey cape, for me they got me the aurora cape (and also for themself too) so we were able to get those despite the prices for them. i didnt want to be locked out of the aurora concert once it was over and all, i wanted to be able to go in myself too.

but the price.....most certainly was a steep one, whoof

over time youll see that become less of an issue, i promise. youll eventually have a decent chunk of ascended candles you cant seem to get rid of thatll help with ticket catch-up if you dont have enough in the first go around, and candle costs will eventually cease being a problem as well as you continuously unlock stuff for good with constellations and traveling spirits.

....tl;dr is it will improve as you continue to play, it was slow-going for me when the event currency stuff first came around but after a while it was finally the reason i could complete all constellations (minus the unnecessary tier two cape upgrade unlocks)

and honestly if i could give away my aurora cape ult i would, i never use it

it gets annoying to hear "it takes time" but there is a legitimate payoff ive finally been able to take notice of

Mostly because of the Ascended Candles, and they just gotten used to the noise of Eden. It is alright if you feel scared of the area, it is quite normal

Honestly, yeah, Eden is terrifying... in a good way, but it's still a formidable place.

I suppose for me, it helps that I've been playing games for many, many years now, so I've faced equally as, if not more, terrifying. Plus for me, I'm the sort of person who relishes a challenge. And with Eden, I get value out of the emotional aspect of it, so even if I didn't, the ascent would be worth the while.

If that gives you insight? I guess when I first went through Eden, I decided, if I can do the Submerged Castle, Queen Vanessa's Manor, Temple of the Ocean King, any video game area at all that is spooky, has given me trouble, or both, I could do Eden just fine.

I'd argue that some of those older seasons give players access to more useful features such as the spell shop and the wind paths (especially the wind paths)
and it's a good introduction to seasons in general

It's just a little too big of a challenge for a newcomer who isn't so avid about doing quests right away

yep, this is just my own view since i’m a returning vet but i feel like tgc’s intention was for this to be a way for moths to get familiar with the game and its many features, an easy questline like moments is good for them to start and then slowly introduce the more complicated quests that offer key features

it’s also for returning players to catch up on whatever they missed, giving them questlines that’ll benefit them the most like trying to ease back into sky’s playstyle and introducing them to whatever new mechanics and features were added when they were away, there’s been an influx in returning players and i’m part of that wave 🧑🏻‍🦯

obviously with how people have reacted (very mixed feelings and some outrage here and there), they didn’t execute this well even though they had good intentions, i’m also very overwhelmed by how much stuff i need to catch up on but i’d rather do it slowly than be forced to complete a certain season’s quests

the things you can do that are under your control aren't difficult, it's the things that happen outside of your control like shard rain hitting you while you're behind cover trying to recharge your light next to a lamp and forcing you to wait entire minutes before you can go out again i'm so mad

It can help to use emotes that make you sit or curl to take less space i'm pretty sure
Having the chibi mask helps too
The smaller your hitbox, the less likely you are to get clipped by the explosions behind cover

It’s likely not the same kind of roll as in Dark Souls, but have you been to the Passage area? That’s in Isle of Dawn, and you get to it by sitting by the campfire by the large rock. It’ll take you to a night version of Isle, and that season’s spirits - including Tumbling Troublemaker - will appear around the area.

Usually being low on energy is okay, so long as you don't mind not flying. Just not in any more 'dangerous' areas, because then you'll burn out and are at high risk of losing light.

Usually, that's by getting rained on, standing in dark water for too long, or staying under regular water for too long.
