You need to look for a bright orange glow around the spirit. They should be standing still, not moving, with the glow. It will be difficult because of how many people are here but you can do it!

Also you need to stay in the nighttime, you can't find the spirits at daytime

It depends on your interpretation of the canon, to be honest. Personally, I always interpreted skykids as being golems - they were built/created with a purpose, to "save the realms from the darkness", but over time they began to think for themselves and become their own individuals. I guess the closest thing to them would be Warforged given their 1) origin and 2) ability to customize themselves at will. Warforged usually count as humanoid from what I know, since they can be affected by spells that affect living humanoids. Skykids are a little iffy on this since they're seemingly immune to all damage that isn't light/darkness-related. I would, however, argue that skykids would still be humanoid as:

Standard warforged have a circulatory system, muscles, and can even be poisoned.

According to the heartbeat we hear when dying or holding the hand of a friend in a quiet place, skykids DO have internal organs. We just can't be sure what they're like.

TL;DR: Skykids are basically cute little Warforged, thus they are humanoid.

well, here's the thing. I don't think we WERE. I think skykids were created with the intention to put an end to the Eden diamond, since saving other skykids has nothing to do with "saving the fallen realms". but on the way up to Eden you see crumbling statues of other skykids who have died and then you see the Eye is full of people like you and... I dunno. my interpretation of it is that skykids actively chose to help the statues because they innately understood what happened to them, THUS they know how to do "good".

like we don't have any tutorial to teach us how to save statues but our skykid is like Yes I Give Light To Statue without a second thought
