Yes, that's normal. I'd recommend getting a controller that can hold the phone (I got a Gamesir G4 Pro off Amazon and am quite happy with it). This game plays MUCH better with a controller, and being held in a clamp will let heat disappear much faster. Exynos SoC's are also good at dumping out the heat.

Any Snapdragon 855/855+/860 users able to utilise the hi-def and 60 FPS mode?

I'm using a Xiaomi Poco X3 Pro, with the SD860. Forced my GPU to its highest clock speed, and can't get more than 45% utilisation in game, and it's locked to 30 FPS (yes I am on the highest graphics setting).

You can't force more fps by tweaking your phone. Sky settings and specs are applied based on device model.

Thank you for your response. I'm questioning why the game is limited to 30 FPS (in the hi-def) mode when there's still more than enough GPU headroom to maintain 60 FPS.

Is there an exhaustive list that would tell us which devices are capable of reaching 60 FPS in the hi-def mode? Adreno 640 is listed on TGC's website as 60 FPS capable, but there's no mention of the resolution there.

Perhaps there should be an option to enable unsupported resolutions/framerates. Worst that'll come out of that is a device throttling from getting too hot.

I'm sure TGC has more experience with bugs and testing than we ever have and they have their reasons why to allow on some phones and why not on others. It's not only GPU dependent, but can be stability, overheat, performance spikes, instabilities, crash, kernel, so many variables

That's true, and I'm not doubting that they did their testing on various devices. My best guess would be that they don't want to overheat any devices, especially since a SD8XX series chip will get cooking.

It never hurts to ask, though. Especially since there are users out there who aren't afraid to dig around and push the limits of their hardware.

I use the Google branded phone case for my Pixel 3a and under normal Sky gameplay, I don't see temps over 48C now. A few months ago, it was 53C, so they are optimizing the game quite well.

FPS: 20, 30, 60, Unlimited (for users with >60 Hz displays)

(I'll suggest this to the developers and see what they say)

This only bothers me this much because back when the PS4 and Xbox One, some PC games were getting capped at 30 FPS. The devs always said it was to "enhance the experience", but the entire enthusiast community knew it was to achieve parity with the consoles. Thus they always found workarounds. Some easy, some advanced.

I'm just being hypothetical here. Don't mind me.

It would be good for you, and a pain for TGC and most of the users. That's not only 7 buttons, that's a lot of coding and a lot of negative comments/bad experience for non-enthusiasts for making Sky complicated and incompatible with several settings.

Hi! I have a Samsung S20 and I fully updated the app and I don't think I have it on deep sleep or anything like that, but recently I've been getting lag spikes that I've never gotten before the last two updates, and it's nothing big but it is happening more often where the frames just stay still for a second or so. C'mon, it's not that hard to implement a stable Vulkan GPU API stable across all Android versions that support it and for SoC's strong enough both CPU and GPU wise to run it

Vulkan is almost 6 years old, with documentation available since day one, what in the world is going wrong with those developers that haven't mastered it yet?

Imagine using that same Vulkan API for Switch and iOS... Especially when Switch uses a modified version of Vulkan called NVN

It seems more of a memory flush issue than a Vulkan API issue. The stutters happen when the GPU drops in usage meaning Sky is most likely waiting a response from the system saying cache is flushed or something similar... Only issue I have is sky has been slowly removing log entries each update so we cannot assist via log entries. (Logcat only has 4 entries for sky app when I pull a logcat)

My tips to TGC:
For Android phones, focus only on Qualcomm, Mediatek and Exynos platforms that have a good Vulkan driver, good CPU and GPU. Example: Qualcomm series 600,700 and 800, Mediatek series Helio P, G and Dimensity

Exynos is a pain in Samsungs for a reason. Many users complain about heating, battery drain even without gaming whereas snapdragon models have no such issue. So with Snapdragon you'll have only stutters

I switched from AZ Screen Recorder to Screen Recorder (has a blue icon with a white hollow camera). Screen Recorder has internal sound, so I suggest switching over to that until the bug gets fixed

There is a known issue with Google Play sometimes showing devices as not compatible when they really are. Give the following steps a shot:

-Force close all applications
-Pull down the notification bar on your Android device and hit the gear-shaped settings icon, or find “Settings” in the application tray.
-Navigate to Apps, or App Manager.
-Scroll down and find Google Play Store.
-Tap Clear Cache and Clear Data.
-Repeat steps for Google Play Games and Google Play Services
-Power your device completely down (do not hit the Restart button)
-BE SURE TO LINK YOUR SKY ACCOUNT TO GOOGLE TO SAVE YOUR PROGRESS
-Launch Google Play Store and try reinstalling/updating Sky

Officially? No. Unofficially, through custom roms? Yes. Will the device be compatible after that hassle? Most likely not. That old of a Samsung, that isn't an S series is most likely 32 bit. Sky requires a 64 bit OS.

Like here in the US, I can get a Moto Z2 Force for way under 100 USD if I needed a second Android for Sky. (It would be a security patch around 2019 and run Oreo and can do 60 FPS with an Adreno 540)

If your panel supports 120fps, discord will play an uploaded video at that framerate. Discord streaming doesn't support anything above 60fps, though. (you could download the 120fps video and see it saved to your device at 120 fps as expected)

About the different country thing, make sure 'the gifter' bought voucher/giftcard that can be used for Philippines. After redeeming the code, the balance should be added 'gifted' account. When buying stuff they can pick the payment option to use the balance.

Just share some story haha. I'm using weekly ROM. And after I update my phone the lags in live sky magically disappeared, but I got another no sound bug, which completely mute the game. I tried speaker headphone bluetooth not a single sound during play , oh and, crash a lot.
After I downgrade my phone to last week's ROM, the game got sound but runs laggy, with no crash.
So I think the lag may have something to do with the sound output of the game ,but my real question is between muted as well as crash a lot, and no crash with sounds, which side you will pick

Here is a message on device compatibility for Sky. 3 Gb of RAM is the bare minimum, and so is an Adreno 504 (Even the Mali G71-MP2 is pretty low end of a GPU) Rule of thumb: Is is over 2 years old? If yes, was it considered a flagship device (Over 700 USD launch price)? If no, it's highly unlikely to be compatible with Sky. (and if it is compatible, it won't play sky that well.)

Yea, but we have seen one version of GPU being compatible in one and not compatible in other

E.g. Mali G76 is present in both the flagship Mediatek and Exynos processors and also in the midrange Helio processors like G95
I'm just mentioning that the Adreno 620 on SD 768G is more powerful than the one on SD 765G, even the CPU cores are clocked pretty higher than the latter

I just wanted to know if someone had tested it first hand and whether Sky devs have incorporated it.. Same GPUs might have different capacities in different processors

Using Android 11's built in recorder does help prevent the stutters, though. It seems to be related to Sky not handling when GPU load drops,(through testing and watching GPU load, it dips when the stutter happens) so keeping it high with screen recording helps a bit.

It's not 100% effective, but I noticed less stutters when recording

Mali GPUs are weird. The G-xx doesn't really matter. What matters is the MP/MC number. A G76 MP4 (what's in the G95) is 1/3 the power of a G-76 MP12 or MP10 (in those flagships you're talking about) that can do 60 fps.

MP/MC is how many media clusters/processors that are in the GPU. I think 12 clusters compared to 4 gives a better representation than the G number... But you know marketing, make a cheap phone seem more powerful by having a similar part number.

Sky cross references a database for "device GPU score." It's all dependent on what the specific device benchmarks and if that device was benchmarked in that database. If not, it will crosscheck another device with the same GPU, which due to Adreno 620 being two SKUs with no identifier which is OC'd, this means highly unlikely.

I have also experienced freezing in game after the update. Worked fine before, but now a few times per session, the game will freeze for a second or two.
