Please make sure you have enough storage on your device. The game itself is under 1gb but can take up to 3gb to download and install all files. Try clearing cache+data, powering your device completely down, restarting and reinstalling the game from Google Play Store or Google Play Games. Be sure to link your account before uninstalling to save your progress.

@left horizon Sure, I've experienced too using Dual Apps feature on Xiaomi devices. Although I could clone the Google Play Games app along with all dependencies, I was still unable to link to the secondary account.
Perhaps I could try using Second space feature, but my little sister stop being interested in playing Sky.

it only has 1 GB of RAM, and while technically the minimum is 1.5, the recommended is 3
even if your phone could run it, it only has 8 GB of storage
sky needs about 3 just to install, so you'd be making a massive storage investment
your android version is 4.1, which released in 2012
sky requires android 8 or higher
your phone is about $80 and could probably be found at a 7-11's bargain bin
i'm not saying this to insult you but to tell you that if you got this anywhere except as a hand-me-down or found it at a goodwill, you are being scammed
your phone's so old that i'd be surprised if it doesn't end up crashing 5 minutes after launch soon

Um, sorry if this is the wrong channel for this question, I'll move it if it is. I've been noticing the past few days that some friends have been lighting my candles and I hadn't lit theirs yet, hours after I lit all available constellation candles. I thought I must have just missed them when lighting everyone's, but after it happening a few times I made a note of people's names. Today, some of my friends with randomly generated names aren't in my constellations for me to light, I'm 100% sure. At least 5 are missing, probably lots more. Is this a bug or a feature, because if I don't light their candle, they might not light mine and that's kinda annoying. Also I've got plenty of room for more stars, they just aren't there. Thanks in advance for any help.

Overheating is a #known-issues

Overheating is an issue at the moment. However, you can counter it. Just find a cool surface, a fan, or just your hands. Whenever your device starts to overheat, press it against the cold surface or play with the back of the phone against a small fan. Also, if you turn off your screen and press your hand securely on both sides of your phone your hand can draw some of the heat out. Alternatively, you could put the phone inside the refrigerator (inside a plastic bag of course).
Additionally, keeping the temperature of your play space rather cool can be beneficial.

Like in this pocture there are normally 4 mantas but two of them disappear and reappear at a certain distance. I wanna know if this is intentional for graphical optimizations or a bug so I can report it. The building disappearing is mostly noticeable at forest.

@vernal compass is right. It will unload things from a really far distance to help GPU load. some really powerful devices may not need this, but lower end devices will really struggle if it wasn't there.
An obvious example of this is sliding down the valley slide.

I don't notice a difference between high performance (60fps) and high graphics mode at least on a graphical side, no change in draw distance or anything, it just makes it run in 30fps rather than 60fps.

one of those buttons is the warp button, just click that and you'll teleport in the same realm as that friend

That really depends on what temperatures your phone is experiencing, and how modern the insides of the device are.
As far as I know, most modern phones are tested for working temperatures between 30 - 60 degrees Celcius. Anything higher, and your phone battery is at a quite high risk of permanent damage.
Phone screens can also behave very strangely at temperatures above the tested ranges, especially LCD screens.
It's probably best to check the tested temperature ranges of your specific device.

I believe the s8 has the capability of lowering its resolution to 720P. In the settings under display.
It's best to play the game at that resolution and not at the 4K that it supports.

After doing a little research. It appears the Snapdragon variant of the Galaxy s8. Runs with adreno 540, which is 60fps compatible according to the pinned. But the other variant of the s8 runs on the Mali-G71 MP20 which is below the minimum specifications for 60fps.

Relatively smooth in certain areas. However very laggy in others. The laggy areas are: most of the hidden Forest, the beginning of the first valley slide, the entrance to the vault. And the entrance to the graveyard. All other areas performed fairly well.

You can look at different phones and check their specifications. if the GPU is the same or higher than the ones that are rated at 60fps then they're probably capable of doing it fine.

Brightness and connection you're using can affect phone's temperature
For example, my phone gets hotter with 4G connection, and because my phone has a metal backplate, it conducts more heat and resulting in my hands burning
And you might want to hibernate background apps to use less resource and probably decreasing the temperature

You won't feel the CPU temperature yourself, as there's a difference in temperature between the screen/cover and the circuitry.
As for the apps, most apps are actually accurate. The apps themselves don't do anything but take data from the internal temperature sensors built into your phone.
The temperature sensors can, of course, be faulty, but they're usually true to their word.

My laptop reaches 96° for cpu, tho when i feel the outer spot of the laptop, it really doesn't burn that much, i mean it's hot, but not like touching a hot pan, so 75°C is probably your cpu (internal) temperature

I had a spike of 70% CPU and the temperature was 55°, then I closed the app and the temperature dropped to 42 immediately

Why Android users are punished for not being able to play the game at same time as veterans on iOS when the game launches ? Why the price should change and get higher ? Why we don't have the arrow on people no more ? Why people complain for these things when we still can't press jump when there is somebody behind the button ? It makes no sense, fix gameplay first, then look about the social aspect, especially when it was already great, don't make it lame, people ask for competition, is this really what we're coming into ?

It's not that unfair as well, we, android players are new to this game, and before all the updates, i think there were smaller amounts of candles people can collect in a day, also android environment is vast and lots of difference, it's hard to make a stable app for all android models, be grateful that sky got ported to android!

And I understand their frustration, because they paid to get cosmetics that were at the time exclusive to the season. I like traveling spirits, but I really don't mind that the price was changed. I joined in Lightseekers, but had no idea what I was doing (I literally thought I was on a free trial for Sky because the countdown said I had 30 days until the end of the season. Moth me had no clue what that meant), so I didn't get the pass and missed out on most of the cosmetics. I didn't have a pass for Belonging because it was too expensive for me at the time and it was over the end-of-the-semester exams and holidays, so I knew I wouldn't be able to play much

I found out that my game lags when my camera is pointing to the Sunlight , tgc need to have a button to disable Lighting and shadows (I know this will look ugly but it's for the best)

@fast hearth sorry for the ping, I read how you were also upset by how the following mechanic was changed and I’d like to provide some insight as to why. There were a portion of iso and android players (both new and older) who also were surprised and upset at the change. However a dev saw a convo about it and was kind enough to step in and explain the reasoning behind that change:
“The change to seeing players in the distance and not being able to follow strangers was due to player feedback about being griefed by strangers and poorly intentioned behavior. We're open to feedback on the change of course and can take a closer look at its impact on a global scale.”
as well as “and culture differences in regard to personal space very greatly from region to region.”
After reading this explanation and as someone who has been stalked in-game, I can understand why they made this change. Everyone has different needs for distance, some people might just want to vibe and chill with only their friends. that’s valid too cause we don’t kno a person’s anxiety levels or social needs. 
We can still follow friends and if a stranger needs help we can manually fly to them anyway, and somewhere else in the world, there are a significant portion of players who are more at ease playing sky with these new changes

Optimization is not really device dependent since all that really makes a difference are the base jdk they are using for the app
Lower jdk version = more device compability = slower application
Higher jdk version = less device compability = faster application
That's why it's an android 8.0> app.

as someone who owns a powerful yet older phone, I’m both surprised and incredibly thankful that sky and sky beta can run on my phone at all. Sure there is a drop in frame rate at certain points but I understand my phone’s old tech, there’s only so much it and TGC can do. TGC definitely could have taken the easier route and only made sky available for top preforming devices, but instead they decided to try and make sky available to as many android users as they possibly can

@bold cloud thank you for this explanation and no problem to me for being ping, I think it should be a choice for every people and not being abruptly removed from the game cause of few complains, it was also a good way to not spend energy and give it back to the people who was in front, I met most of my friends with this technique, so I think if people felt griefed there should be an option to them for not being followed, now people with who i become friends are not met during gameplay.

@fast hearth I think... you might be underestimating how many people play sky. It’s in the millions. It definitely wasn’t a ‘few’ complaints that made TGC reconsider the following mechanic 
Changes look easy from our standpoint as a player but game development wise, there is a tonnn of coding and testing that is done before seemingly simple changes are made. TGC does as much as they can with good intentions and they care a lot about their players. Which is why they read everything submitted to #wishlist-and-ideas-archived as well as #live-feedback whether they are negative and positive submissions. I also encourage you to submit your thoughts and feelings about ingame changes in feedback. Your voice as a new player is just as equally valid as an older one’s 
Also if you are OK with spoilers and wish to have a little say in upcoming content, you can lurk the beta channels. Before I was a beta player I paid attention to the updates. One of them was an interface change that would have severely impacted my gameplay and caused motion sickness. I voiced my concerns via feedback and later the devs made sure that the “letterbox” option was available in settings so people like me could continue to play sky 
Devs do listen and they absolutely do care for the overall good of their player base, while still being inclusive and careful of people’s deepest concerns

I know I'm being super random but since my hands are small I find it really hard to type in landscape mode on chat for a long period of time with my frens so I tried connecting bluetooth keyboard so I can input my chat there. Sadly, on my phone it seems like it have some issues with it like when I start typing, the chat will go down or not show so I will have to constantly tap on chat to input the message 
Have anyone tried using bluetooth keyboard for the chat and does it work?

I’ve been playing since January and been keeping up with changes. If you ever have a question about why certain changes have been made, feel fee to DM me. when juggling spirit was bugged and available in valley oob for a little while, players took advantage of the bug. TGC were well aware of them and were very lenient and allowed players to keep their cosmetics. However ktjn did warn people in discord that purchasing from bugged spirits uses up seasonal currency and by spending that on juggler, they possibly put their personal completion of Enchantment at possible risk.
There’s no doubt that there are a percentage of players who don’t keep up with Sky’s social media at all and genuinely thought that the bugged spirit was in fact, the true one. There’s also probably a portion of players who did know it was the wrong one and decided to take advantage of it anyway. The former are innocent. The later group... tbh it is their responsibility to make moral decisions. TGC has been working tirelessly at home to continue to bring us new content. They’re working professionals but also human and not perfect. Bugs happen. It’s a player’s decision whether they decide to respect the work TGC has done, respect other players and take the honest route.
I doubt they’ll return the currency. But there is time until reset to grind for candles, get hearts and possibly purchase the candles needed for weasel mask.
Some companies tho, have no qualms doing roll backs if players take advantage of major bugs. Roll backs hurt everyone, it wastes dev’s time and effort, it affects all players. It’s one thing to keep in mind if any bugs or exploits appear in the future.

I own a OnePlus 6, which was taken off the list last month for some reason
It generally runs Sky at a reasonable framerate but it jumps between 30 and 60 depending on the amount of clouds in the area
But the specs are basically the same as the Pocophone F1 so find that on the list to get an idea of how powerful it is
If you want my advice, wait for OnePlus to launch their next phone and see how that stacks up (it'll either be called the OnePlus 9 or Z)
They're usually known for making phones as good as or better than other manufacturers, but with a price tag that's hundreds of dollars cheaper
Whatever you do avoid anything with an Exynos processor at all costs (search for specific models on PhoneArena for that)
this shouldn't be a problem for you if you're not a European, but from what I've heard those processors have some pretty bad drivers
