So from my point of view tgc is taking the same path as all other big companies take, keeping transparency for updates to a minimum ( dropping the support for android 8 ), if you dont explain the reasoning, well ofcourse people will get mad at you. Even if you dont have control of the decisions google make(like for this update), you have a responsibilty as a company to communicate with your playerbase as soon as possible and not after 2-3 days, the bugs you mentioned in the news are not bugs but a huge miscommunication that are preventing players from entering the game.

By long due I'm referring to multiple past issues with sky and android 8. Android 8 has experienced multiple issues in the past and it's clear as day that they're struggling, meaning Sky will just not work for 8's eventually and they'll just stop the support. Just like one day it'll stop for Android 12 as well. (If sky lasts for that long) Companies will generally update their apps to focus on newer devices and they'll eventually drop the support for older devices

Android 12 is only a couple/few years old, I'd be alarmed if TGC was still dragging Sky along long enough to outrun even 12. Also, like you mentioned earlier, they really ought to either improve their code as-is or hire better coders. Android 8 is nowhere near the bottom line for most games, but alas, TGC would indeed rather appeal to China and Apple.

Besides, if we're going to say support should stop for an OS because it's buggy, they may as well shut down the game in full - I see many of the OS for both Apple and Android in the bug reports almost daily.

It doesn't make sense to compare sky with other games. Sky runs on vulkan and many games run on opengl. many older devices with old Android version doesn't have proper vulkan drivers.

yeah I wouldn't really expect compensation sadly. another bug I imagine like abyss bug happened in Prince where since people could barely play even people who had AP would no longer be able to reach ult, and Prince was incredibly tight on spare candles too (2 total spare.). this went on for quite a bit and the few people who did get compensated got maybe 30sc which was far less than what they missed and still put them too short to finish season. would be really nice if they step up the compensation game though! like there seems to be a good number of you, maybe you can get something who knows

Android 8 has had issues for a long time. They've fixed in the past everytime however it's been also getting worse and worse. I think that tgc acknowledging for the first time in patchnotes that 8 will have issues is a clear indication they're struggling to maintain Sky on android 8. This is sadly just an issue with the devices not being able to handle sky at this point. All devices come to that point eventually as newer devices get released

I think everyone understands that not everyone can afford a brand new phone just to run a simple mobile game. However the reality is that android 8 is getting old and will stop being supported soon enough. It's simply impossible for a company to forever support all devices. Last time this happened I report it and I was affected and tgc compensated players who wasn't affected and I got nothing , Tgc explain to me why I'm able to play genshin impact on my phone but not your game. there are many vulkan only games which already dropped android 8 support due to issues with them example: grid autosport. they run on android 9+ now. when genshin switches to vulkan from opengl, they will too stop supporting android 8 devices.

Android 12 , One Ui 4.1 can now play sky with out any distortion .
Looks like updated for newest Android phone version yay for that since not many have talked about how game has been almost un playable due to poor graphics for the likes of Samsung S22 's series .
