Like, how do we know that There's a King who's name is Alef? The Twin elders have names??? Where are you getting this info?

None of the elders have canon names. The names people use are concept names that are technically not canon, but people like using them for simplicity. As for the king? I know a dev said they were a thing. Most info comes from concept stuff and live streams + the occassional dev having mercy and speaking with us

It's fun, but it's also a double edged sword because like, at what point does 'vague' simply become 'wasted opportunity'

This is the first season to have mechanisms in the game (aside from the diamond doors, forest temple doors and floating technology in vault).

The first time doing the quest was a bit confusing, it was a lot of "go here and do this" type of interactions. But I am sure they are fun to play around with when the hype of the new season calms down and skykids can have a moment to properly enjoy the area.

If that is the case, that can cause a lot of timelines of the seasons being separated to collapse. That or create a new setting where the seasons took place in the same time periods (with some happening later on).

Since time is not constant in the game (realms are set at certain times of the day and only progresses with the skykid), perhaps since both seasons would take place/end in the Valley. It is possible both seasons belong the Valley time period.

Note that while Season of Rhythm did not have a set season area to associate with a particular realm, along with the spirits located in each realm, the only link for the season is it ending in the coliseum in Valley of Triumph.

To be fair though, season of Rhythm was in 2020. Back then, the look and heading of the game was a lot different based on how much it changed throughout the seasons.

A call back like this to the iconic season is a nice way of saying that the game is not trying to forget where it started and might revisit other themes as time goes on. As we can see in the Sanctuary island reef in the ravine, some changes might even take place outside of the relevant season even 🙂

Allow me to tell you about the richest spirit ever to grace the world of Sky, Star Collector. A shrude buisnessspirit who pledged their life to buying every star in the sky. It all started when their beloved ship they call home crashed on the shores of Starlight Desert, and they began collecting money to pay for a new vessel. The exilleration of owning milestones in the vastness of space slowly but surely got to them, and their greed for more spiraled out of control. Today, Star Collector invests in the pots market, campaigning for all pots to be made into homes for every creature of sky. They said it was a boy wearing pajamas who informed them about the cause. When they aren't marketing pots, they sell stars to all the skykids, they hope that sharing the beauty of the stars with all will convince others to buy stars themselves, raising the prices. They also sell capes, hand crafted out of fabrics found in the desert. When a spirit becomes a travveling spirit, the payments made by skykids bacically makes them set for life, so to help support spirits who haven't been selected to return yet, Star Collector offers jobs in crafting their capes. The spirits seem to like the work quoting: "We usually make it a race on who can find fabrics faster. It never gets old!"

considering the valley twins have prosthetics, and the entire war in Wasteland happened, and accidents in forest (mining/refinery related) are a thing (tearful light miner memory) there’s no way disability wasn’t a thing in Sky. And that’s even disregarding genetic conditions. It’s really sad that we haven’t gotten to see anything relating to it yet beyond the twins’ prosthetics, darkstone technology sounds like it would be great for mobility aids

At least Isle Elder confirms ancestors had canes. There's so much you can do with the limitations TGC put themselves, but it shouldn't be too complicated to make a new spirit model that uses simple mobility aid.

Like, some models lack fingers to move with precision but a profusion of hand gestures is what I mean, the deaf and hard of hearing folks in the crowd will likely enjoy that. They could even do that throughout an action so the memory gets across they are communicating with hands and very little if any spoken words.

Weird somewhat off topic question, sorry. Do you think mantas need to breathe? Skykids need to, probably to keep our inner flame going, but they don’t seem to - I’ve never seen them have a breathing animation, and they don’t seem to have nostrils or fly with their mouths open to take in air.

I’m designing the racing manta bc mantas are Fun to draw and I need a comfort drawing rn, just wondering if I should put effort into giving them breathing related adaptations. I kind of want to, but imagining mantas with lungs and nostrils is squicking me out

whether skykids have liquid blood or not is debatable. they're probably hollow, so wouldn't have a circulatory system though could have one if it's suspended by magic or whatever. more likely the light chills inside them immaterial. skykids do need light to function, whether it comes from their flame or winged light, but I doubt the magic that sustains them would put in the effort to make that light liquid for whatever reason.

I totally agree!! I’m aroace so these characters getting shipped together doesn’t really interest me; I prefer the interpretation of them being really close friends. It’s really cute that all of their memories include at least 1 of their friends, and that 2/4 emotes are friendship ones.

i'm thinking of something along those lines too, wherein everyone is made of the same light. all creatures in the cycle of life and death too; the skykids, mantas, birds, all light creatures. the creatures get sent down to the world, live, die and return to the megabird as a huge pool of light, kind of like the water cycle. it's only when they reach the ground that they are an individual. i don't really have much of an idea outside of that, it's just a vague thought that i've been thinking :)

If they were a hive mind, moths would not need to be taught/guided along their journey because they’d already have equal knowledge

In all seriousness, I don't think we have any solid answer to that. Some of the bones in the graveyard may be whales, but a majority of the skeletons there seem to be largely distinct from any specific creature we've seen in the game so far especially when comparing it to the baby whale skeleton we see in the Hidden Forrest.

Personally however, I like to think that they're some kind of extinct creature that was overhunted by the kingdom at large and eventually disappeared as a result of the calamity that caused the kingdom's collapse (the stories strengthening, krill, overhunting, etc)!

I’ve been favoring the idea that winged light are the imprints of skykids, specifically a mark where many of them have been, hence why they appear in the same places (tho that may be gameplay mechanic, but I like to think in-universe they also appear elsewhere less often) like a well-treaded path in the woods made by many footprints walking the same way

Winged light is like extra power to skykids. They only need their flame to function, but winged light is an addendum that grants them a new ability. Perhaps it’s presence wasn’t intended as a power-up, but once skykids became plentiful, they were made to be or came to be able to utilize winged light as a power-up, whether to fly at all or the strengthen our cape.

Since winged light are imprints they are merely the impression of skykids, not skykids converted into something else but something their presence has left behind. One cannot become winged light, but one or more skykids do make them by just existing in the world in addition to some other factor.

One theory suggests they appear where many skykids have been and coalesce into winged light, like creating a well-treaded path in the woods by many footsteps — hence why they appear in the same spots. In-game they may be in the same spot for gameplay accessibility but in-universe they could land anywhere.

I always had this theory that Skycotl takes place somewhere high above the skies and since the Skykids can be able to heal from light 🕯️ sources and clouds, I also thought that they were born from a special light source that helps them regain their strength as you go looking for winged light.
Speaking of this light source within them, I think their bodies have a flame 🔥 inside of them, this flame in my eyes not only represents who they are as in healing from when they are low on light, but it also may represent their perseverance, determination, a will to keep going not to mention how they are also pure of heart which explains why they are very kindhearted to the spirits and other Skykids as well

I'm personally partal to the idea that the winged light isnt the imprint/remnant of the Sky kids, but more specifically that of the prince! Atleast in my mind they seem to fit the appearance of both the prince or what's assumed to be the prince from the murals in prophecy and the figure that we embrace to ascend into orbit. They're also noticeable distinct from the appearance of statues after they ascend Although admittedly depending on your interpretation this might be 1000% wrong, as the prince's mural is rather vague and can't easily be extrapolated into a more complex figure, the figure embraced in order to ascend to orbit could be any number of things besides the prince (like your first winged light, your inner light, etc), and the statue's distinct appearance after reciveing winged light could be explained as them gaining the ability to fly on their own through our sacrifice. But I think it's a cool theory regardless
