what if the player is the shadow, and the Sky Kid is a separate entity - as in the Shadow carries all of the cosmetic data and the skill of the game, and the Sky Kid/Light gives that form?

Idk Back then, but when I started paying Sky capes on them had a spirit effect that give away another color but recently they were patched to look closer to their true color instead of their spiritified ones (sad... I submitted a request in #wishlist-and-ideas-archived to get a spiritify spell/effect to allow us to get 2 colors with one cape )

For example Butterfly Caretaker a bright yellow (meanwhile we get a yellow-orange hue) , Sanctuary Quest Giver cape looked a bit shifted to teal instead of clean white we have now, or the Grateful Shell Collector seems to have a red cape (instead of the strong salmon pink cape). Yellow and Salmon cape were a big let down for me (it seemed a falsely advertized product ) so I guess devs eventually fixed those hues (but I sort of wish to get a spiritify effect 🥲 )

I remember that when the paperboat were implemented that if you go near on in night HomeSpace with teal cape you could see teal shifting a bit into green or bluer tones (the power lighting) and it might still work this effect

There is one (IAP for Days Of Earth) but it was added later, I think

Valley used Ice Rink was different, originally the Cannon we see in Office was there (and maybe even in GW when it was still called Shores Of Mana) those 2 golden statue and the cannon golden decoratiojpn clearly are in tune with Valley architecture style

Skykids and their players is complicated to discuss, not only for the amount of meta knowledge involved but also the possibilities to consider.
Such as a knowledgeable player would typically present a skilled skykid, while a player with less experience playing the game (ex. a young player) would present skykid that is clumsy and tend to easily become confused on what to do.

The skykid themselves though are consistent. As in no matter what kind of player would be to any given skykid, all skykids are able fly, give light, run, emote, use magic and communicate to ancestors/elders. That and learn new abilities as they go (ex. emotes, skills/abelites from seasons such as diving and wing buffs).

I would like to think a skykid is a lot like an Avatar from James Cameron's film. Although, unlike the avatars and the Navi, there are only avatar skykids and no true skykids (as in no human to control the bodies).
Partly because of the similarities the two fictional worlds have (bounding with creatures, floating mountains and trees that have voices), and partly because of how skykids fall asleep when left alone by their player similar to the film would have the avatar fall unconscious when their driver is not connected.

Folks would interpret the player to be the skykid, a user expressing themselves through the skykid, or even the will of the skykid coming from the player.

Lorewise, it is an open debate that could be deep. But on the surface, all cases does involve the skykid.

We have an actual height chart somewhere using the office. Also, Chibis are the size of toddlers, while the average (or was it tallest) child size is equivilant to about a 5-7 (can't remember which) year old human
If they're human sized, they're very young, which would make sense, considering how they behave. Touching everything in sight and frolicking about as they do is generally young child behavior

I’ve heard that and honestly it does make sense. Time-wise seasons are three months long. My one qualm is that they’re not always the same length of time and even used to be only a month long.

Yeah, the first 3 seasons are wonky, afaik Gratitude was late summer 2019 and quickly got followed by Lightseekers that spanned from there through the entirety of autumn, where belonging had to eat a bit of time through 2020.
It feels like the devs are trying to match seasons with irl ones since we are now getting about 4 per year.
Fun coincidence: flight happened in autumn, usually the season where migratory birds take flight to warmer climates. kinda fits the theme !

2020 and 2021 follow the pattern of a new season starting in january, april, july and october. 2022 looks like it's on the same track with abyss in january and performance in april.

The valley twins are complete opposites, each representing different ideas of people within their realm, and constantly compete with each other. There’s one who’s really invested and darkstone and one who’s really against it, for example

Black and White have this whole thing about two dragon legendaries that represent truth and ideals, and we learn later on that they used to be one entity.

The split happened because two siblings the og dragon was linked to were arguing on how to rule a kingdom, and to reflect the conflict, it split into the dragon of ideals (Zekrom) and the dragon of truth (Reshiram) while leaving an empty hust behind (Kyurem).

The siblings of course went at war with eachother and their respective dragons.

I'm torn because the Valley twins being the same entity but with two bodies is really cool, but also twins that got tired of their gimmick... auuuhhh
Some people tried to have both by making them split from the same entity but over time they grew their own conflicting personality, but I like to think it's much simpler, like Kyurem in pokemon.

Maybe the Valley elder looks like they have two bodies "by demand" (ie: there were two factions in valley that were in conflict and had vastly different views, so the elder divided themselves in two halves who only looked like they were in conflict to reflect this), but since the ancestors are no more, that valley elder retains their appearance they had before their demise, without the need to perform that conflict

summary of my concept on darknsss is that it works by splitting people apart into separate bits/personalities and sometimes bodies. It’s what happened to the king to make skykids. Anyways, it’s my idea that the twins got corrupted and they either separated just because that’s what darkness does, or they were forced to in order to stop it from spreading further. They were never “meant” to be separated (like they weren’t planned to be two separate entities from their creation) hence why they both have to have prosthetic arms + maybe legs + eyes, they didn’t have enough light? to form 2 separate people

Light is like the cycle of death and rebirth; nothing is lost, everything has a place, nothing matters, everything matters. All will eventually perish, but they will foster grounds for new birth.
A phoenix, if you will. Creative fire. Funerary fire. Born from the ashes of your predecessor.

Darkness is a natural attempt against that cycle, to leave a significant mark for the future generation. An eyrie used by generations of eagles. A house that still stands despite having been built centuries ago. Darkness is an investment to go against the flow and leave a mark for those to come.

These two forces don't usually fight, they can actually go hand in hand. But too much of one, and things become unhealthy.
When there is too much light, there is unity because everything takes the same path, but no personality because everything is in a constant flux.
When there is too much darkness, there is isolation because nothing changes since the flow has been stopped. Futile attempt at immortality, as we can see this was the demise of the civilisation whose ruins we thread through.

I think of Megabird as the consciousness of the Light. the Light is the conglomerate of all beings of light but all their experiences and personalities are preserved, a collectivist hivemind of sorts. Megabird is the sum of all the Light's thoughts and acts on the Light's behalf because Megabird is the Light, just the one making the Light's decisions based on the thought processes of all the beings of light within it.

I think the animation project will have a storyline as follows. There are two timelines at once. One shows an ansestor kid in the past, one shows a current day skykid raising a baby krill/mantatee/lightdragon and you get to see how the past connects to the present. Cannoneer “Vidar” had grown up in the mainland until they were rescued. They had never seen the night sky or the stars before. When finally brought far out, they rush to the deck of the ship, screaming. When Fritjof joins them, Vi asks if this is what the stars their parents talked about are. Fritjof puts Vi on their shoulders and says yes. They stare for a while.

Sky makes me so angry that I don't have an oboe anymore because that's the main instrument they use. I would love to get sheet music for sky if I still had an oboe but it belonged to the school
