I mean I take it like that, The king got Gw to attack the innocents, the scout finds out what's happening, and gw convinced everyone to the fight against the king, the king was losing battles so used his child as a tool, this way could spy on them while making a strategy, ofc the soldiers keeps fighting until they come with a plan along the time, this way gw becomes like a human shield for vault elders to create a sealing door for the darkness, which hardly worked by hiding the real manuscripts and placing fake one which leads ti the trap from the vault, after that with gw destroyed with the few soldiers remained the other portals, but not without still loosing track of the few bits of darkness which expanded
