And we’re there to bring back balance by returning light? Like for example, when we burn the dark plants (corruption) from prairie’s bells all the mantras come back (and they kidnap u)

i think on the contrary they overused the light: diamond tech is very likely made out of literaly light, be it flames or... creature juice (concept art, and creatures trapped in the factories)

so they drained light from the world around them

which is what created the imbalance. i don't think darkness was what they used but rather the byproduct of their abuse.

i've heard people say what we see in vault is a projection, even down to the big altar at the end, and so the real vault was torn down long ago by the storm as we see here

it is rather suspicious after all that from the outside of battlefield we don't see a giant vault tower at all, and it doesn't make much sense that there is ground at the top of the vault, where we reach the door to eden... it's like we really never leave the central room, we think we're going up but it's really all just a big projection

Maybe the elevator is real and the first and second floor too and the rest is a projection. If u notice wasteland is all ruins and devastation and so is eden. Maybe we don't see the tower from the outside because there is no tower, just the ruins of the first two floors or even just the ground floor. And after we go to eden entrance the illusion disappears and we can't see it anymore and that's why it looks so different.
