There's a lot of weird things about vault.

A) you enter directly in vault's main hall through the wastes temple. But approaching the wastes temple you can't actually see anything that tall behind the temple.

B. It's absolutely destroyed. Like, the base is there, but as you ascend from the first level, it just breaks apart and starts floating.

C. From there, you enter into the stars, which is very similar to orbit after death.

It leads me to think that vault.... Doesn't exist anymore.

In vault is says you'll find answers, but the place answers no questions.

The vault elder seems to be grieving, and just completely crushed emotionally.

I think what's left of vault is simply a memory from the elders. It's a part of the spirit purgatory, and has been completely obliterated by whatever destroyed the rest of sky. Like the library of alexandria, is was intentional.

The reason our SKids have no problems seeing it is because the SKids have been treading the world of the living and the world of the dead the entire game. Death is meaningless to SKids.

like.. in one of the seasons (i think lightseeker??) one of the spirits was able to access the archives due to "extensive amounts of decay" or something like that

The spirits exist everywhere, from dawn to vault, they linger throughout the entire game.

I think the spirits that linger are the reasons certain fragments of the vault remain semi-intact. Since the final level of Eden is the elder's shrine, it makes sense that her spiritual presence clings on to the building the hardest.

I like that theory, you can also look at it this way. Everything from GW to Eden is destroyed.

Could be something/someone raided the three areas consecutively

And when we complete the vault and as Eden becomes accessible, we see the reality of the vault as we're back on the main floor.

Who destroyed the vault so utterly? Like the factories and the temples are still mostly intact. But, who would go out of their way to blow the vault out of existence?

It also explains why the wastes elder looks so defeated. He wasn't defending the wastes... He was trying to save the vault.

i do believe the vault has been under siege before, however, you could chalk the destroyed state of vault up to the fact that there was like 10000 years inbetween the spirits life and skykids arrival

I actually had a theory that the reason why everything beyond GW seems to be ravaged is because there was a war between humans and sky folk? It kinda breaks the general otherworldly atmosphere, but the concept art included an actual transition between our modern world and sky world. Plus multiple glowy cave drawings featured some kind of people that were obviously land-bound.

And mixed with the fact that they were probably starving/dehydrated would really help the hysteria set in. And I feel like at that point breaking down and crying like that would be normal. Plus sky kids are well, kid shaped so they look more childish doing it. but I feel like if we saw the full flashback for the crying spirit the lvl 4 emote would look a lot more depressing. But that's just my opinion

I went to the office and taken a screenshot of my character with the toilet there. I took an average toilet bowl’s measurements and compared it to the horn in sky. I concluded that the horn is about 26.1cm. From there, I compared it to the average length of steps in a Skykid, and each step at full running speed of a size 1 character is 62.1cm. In the Vault, I measured the distance between two pillars using steps (about 11.5 steps) and timed it (4.09s). I repeated this measurement in a few other locations and plotted a graph of distance against time. Then, I found the average forward velocity of a Skykid running by finding the gradient or derivative of the graph, ds/dt. I have concluded that a Skykid runs at about 0.152 meters per second or 0.547 km/h

@upbeat dust I went to the office and taken a screenshot of my character with the toilet there. I took an average toilet bowl’s measurements and compared it to the horn in sky. I concluded that the horn is about 26.1cm. From there, I compared it to the average length of steps in a Skykid, and each step at full running speed of a size 1 character is 62.1cm. In the Vault, I measured the distance between two pillars using steps (about 11.5 steps) and timed it (4.09s). I repeated this measurement in a few other locations and plotted a graph of distance against time. Then, I found the average forward velocity of a Skykid running by finding the gradient or derivative of the graph, ds/dt. I have concluded that a Skykid runs at about 1.57 meters per second or 6.30 km/h. After that I used the same method to take the measurement of the instantaneous take-off speed in glide mode, which turns out to be about 11.6 km/h

@heavy totem that;s very difficult to measure because we would have to factor in gravitational acceleration. Just by looking the gravity in Sky looks a little less than 9.81 N/kg so I wouldn't be too sure about anything
