it's not 100% clear what the child of light actually is

we just know that our skykids have some sort of relationship with the child of light

These are just my theories: I've come to think that the original child of light is the one we hug at the end of eden. The winged lights look like that child. When we pick up a winged light, it gives us the power of flight, and takes the shape of a cloak, which we've been told is made from light (hence it has no shadow). Perhaps these winged lights have been scattered across the lands by the big fractured diamond in eden...maybe the big explosion that triggered the extinction of all the people /spirits, fractured the the eden elder (that child) into ...many pieces...alternatively, those little statues in eden could be all children of light and quite possibly have had their lights "knocked out" of them by the rock rains, poison water etc. And our mission is to collect them and bring them back to the children so that they can fly back to orbit. The original name for winged lights ...used to be stars, I believe... we are literally collecting stars that need to go back to orbit...now...stars...are they the spirits or they the winged lights?

if you look around the vault area the small light circles are 'pots'

black pots with a blue light

from second level onwards there are translucent pots to light up

and then there's a bunch of ghosts of whales and mantas flying about

this can mean that this part of the vault is dream-like

done by the translucent pot things

i forgot the cut scenes in vault since i skip them nowadays lol so i'm not very sure if the dreamlike scenes are memories from the pots or not

I found an interesting thing when exploring wasteland... Not sure if the other have talked about this or not

But the crabs are afraid of the krill (they went into hiding position when the krill light go near them)

And they're apparently attracted to light... I got krilled earlier (ouch), and the winged light falls.
You know that they usually stick to the ground for awhile before disappearing, right? Now when they're sticking to the ground, a group of crabs immediately went near the fallen winged light and keeps attacking it.

Now the interesting thing is, the winged light seems to have an invicible "shield" (or maybe wind walls?) Surrounding them. Since the crabs can't get near them (even one of them goes upside down after trying to charge at it)

Now... Crabs are neutral creatures, right? Then why do they do that...?

Oh and I haven't test it on the other crabs (forest and valley) yet
I don't want to lose more winged lights ;;

@humble barn I just noticed that the mantas in vault don’t disappear because they despawn when going up to the next level but because of a render distance

If you sit or something to go back down to the previous level they reappear

Also re: the way the big light creature/elder/uncorrupted krill disappears may not be because of lore but because we skip the cutscene; when you watch the cutscene normally that light elder or whatever flies up to the roof of the vault

We aren't really expected to go back to the previous level, so I think it's still possible that the spirit mantas are designed to despawn.
But for the multiwinged creatures, I should correct the manta bone theory. I always skip the cutscene😂
Ive been wondering why there's a cosmic whale up above the vault summit OOB and the answer was always there I just didn't see it...

but what does that ascension mean lorewise? the multiwinged creature had ascended to the orbit?

I think the "no mask" and hairless were just similar to the dark sihoulettes we see. As i read, the mask is made from stones, and the hairs, capes were just light. So basically it's a disguises and if u notices, capes and hairs doesn't have shadows

Oh HEY I did Eden recently and I REALISED SOMETHING NEAT

So it used to be in isle when we rang the bells they would summon butterflies into existence, and in praire when we light the three bell towers we summon the giant mantas into being and in forest the bells atop the bridge summon jellyfish into creation right; all fairly canon stuff considering the live stream that told us the bells summon things into existing from the light inside the clouds

When we approach the Gate in Orbit we hear a bell! This bell ringing is summoning us Skykids into being reborn!

My theory is it’s an uncorrupted krill (evidence: the dev that made vault said each floor of vault is related to a different realm, so the floor this creature is in represents wasteland, therefore this creature is related to wasteland; this assumes krill are corrupted versions of something)

Welp heres my thoughts, after we die, we dont immediately go to orbit but ascend somewhere where the supposed king is trapped in

And the only way we go to orbit is after we hug and take in the king and fly up in the ray of light coming from wat it looks like, the light that spews out from the diamond

w the theories that the vault is sort of like a dream i feel like you get returned to the bottom floor but now you have the knowledge you need to go forward and the way to eden is open
