OK so my interpretation, the cave paintings show the characters collecting light from stars in stone pots, then either pouring from pots, or collecting into pots, from an oasis that has a single crab on it.
More crabs come and scare off the characters.

I'd thing they are pouring the light in, as it seems to make more sense naratively with collecting from the stars, and what we know of the nature of crabs ingame, as they are attracted to light (us).
Though it could be collecting a "raw material", possibly blue light from an oasis to go with the season, in going to making diamonds to power things.

I'm bursting with lore and questions here!

I've rarely see how these spirits looked like since they

1. Transparent when we first find them (which makes sense)
2. Other players interrupted and made them gone
3. Time limit they'll be reset

   So it'll be cool if we can get to chose doing it solo so we can adjust the timing or add a library somewhere we can review these spirit's stories once we unlocked them. (This is moved into the feedback channel)

   Today I got to find the crying emote spirit alone and realized these 3 stones are actually tombstones, and that place is where they were trapped and it's just so sad In the end 3 of her friend were dead, stuck inside the cave leaving her.....
