so i tried storm shard solo (4 wedges 15 wing light) and:
the flying crabs rocks functions as something to prevent normal flight, means no flying to avoid crabs
as it is a flying threat, it is more difficult to burn the flying dark plants, unless you stay on ground
but the part where the rocks shines the most is the creature quest, you will need to steer clear of those rocks

i manage to do it solo without losing wing light, although i did employ help from memory candles, took me around 8 minutes or so
the storm however managed to make me miss some of the creatures during the creature quest

is it more difficult? definitely, the flying rocks still even poses a threat when you're on ground
as i understand but don't take my word on it, its supposed to be the hardest difficulty

black shard (crabs) > red shard (crabs, shard crabs, pulsing shards) > storm shard (shard crabs, pulsing shards, flying rocks)

the worst part is when everything connects and skykid pinball happens
in my honest opinion maybe it could give like 7 ascended candles, especially if its a rare occurrence

we've lived for so long without it, theres really no need for it other than just for cosmetic purposes

i tried making a round up to get the forest elder mask and it would be probably like around 3 months of pure farming, every week, all red shards, eden every week to get the mask so...

The current prices are too expensive, but these are too cheap. Around 100 is a good middle ground, being able to have 3 shields with only 2 eden runs is OP

I agree that the storm isn’t much of an issue during the initial stages of burning plants, but grows quite troublesome when you have floating plants + have to fly through it. especially when it pushes you from the floating plants into the red shards I also think it would be quite fair with 6-7 ac - it’s definitely a 7 when done solo but it’s made a lot easier with friends of course

in the end only people who are completionists/want to cosplay as elders will get the masks. otherwise most of the playerbase wont really care to obtain or use it even if the prices were lowered

imo the diff elder masks should give different buffs

isle- recharge buff
prairie- shield
forest- candle wax multiplier
valley 1- speed buff
valley 2- jump/fly buff
wasteland- shield that, instead of protecting you, leaves you more weak, and protects your friends (they have to hug you to recharge)
vault- you have a permanent low gravity effect

there is no maximum for the amount of ascended candles you can get in one week - though presumably it would be 15.75 + 7x3.5 = 40.25 if every single shard is an AC one for 3.5

Just throwing around ideas not thinking about game balance ramifications but what if elder mask buffs were stackable? So once a week, if you wear the mask and meditate at the temple, you get +1 extra buff. There is of course a max cap of how many buffs you can stack, but this would solve the issue of the elder mask being not as useful as the props.

the difference between t2 capes and elder masks is the t2 capes are just base game capes with a line on them and the elder masks are cool and have a function. also at least w hearts you have some say in when you can get the item, w ac theres nothing you can really do abt it. if you want a mask you just have to do all the events as much as you can

honestly after having to do eden every week for a couple months to get my old height back, the feeling of having to do eden is so miserable. i can already see myself forcing to do it every single week just to get the mask, and if i miss it a single time ill be kicking myself for it forever. it completely ruins eden for me as an experience

as someone still trying to catch up with ts and events and has put base constellations on hold to do that, I really dislike this whole longterm goal ideation of expensive elder cosmetics - the longterm goals just keep getting steeper as time goes on because naturally older players achieve them and need something else, but then new players continue to fall behind and it's just a never ending grind that isn't helping players want to stick around

you can say theres no need for it, and yeah its a permanent item get it whenever you want, its not necessary for gameplay, you can take your time, whatever, but that doesnt change the fact that its going to lead to ppl grinding anyway. good for you for being so epic and having that godly self control but generally when new stuff is added ppl try and get it as soon as possible, and i think they should try and plan around that rather than just leaving eden to become just a way to get currency (even more than it already was..)

Congratulations on this part of the event tgc, I hope the new cosmetics are awesome too.

fishing as far as i experienced:
its a small gimmick in the sunny forest area only (we can hope its a prop in the future)
you do not need to start fishing, it starts automatically
when the prompt appears click it, and you will raise the rod

as far as i tested, when there isn't bubbles but the prompt shows and the rod shakes, its junk
when there is bubbles, the prompt shows and rod shakes, its either a crab or a jellyfish
but jellyfish is rarer and gives a wee bit of wax

I had a fun time with the shard events too while doing them in live! I had a question for the beta lovely testers though. Does the shard difficulty scale based on realm? So far I’ve done two, the first one in GW (front of Ark) and the second in the Prairie caves, and the latter one seemed significantly easier (seemed to proportionally give less AC wax too?) Is this actually the case?

Every realm can have both hard and easy events. I think the hardest for me personally was one in forest, wasteland ones are all "easy" for me so the difficulty seems somewhat random

Something I was thinking about (I’ll consider putting this in feedback). So the cost for the ascended candles is something with the new masks.

Sure it’s an end of game item just as any other elders but why do I think it’s too much. First of all the cost of warp had increased, not only eden had increased its difficulty, the social element of it had increased too. And to the point that not everyone only mostly veterans, but even that is no longer guaranteed can unlock warp to new friends, because it costs around week of supply from eden to warp to just one friend and people save ascended for things they prefer like spells or TS/event items. Then these new elder mask cost like 100++ I wonder if other realm elder mask’s costs will increase… not sure. I feel like it should lower the cost of something. Perhaps return the warp to only 2 candles (because often, it’s an important social element!)? Or maybe lower the cost of these ‘new’ masks to below 100, so they are actually ‘affordable’. Cause if things keep unnecessarily increasing, man, Sky will just be a game of grinding, or… Just a thought.

Just like invisible cape, elder masks are hard earn items. For all mask at this point, you need 450 ac. Before shattering that would take you 450/15=30 weeks. It's 210 days, or 7 months. After shattering you could get upto 30 ac/week.welp. if you just want to get the cheapest elder mask it still take you more than a month for that.

I think you can wear the elder masks one or two ways, either permanently or quickly changing into them when you know you’ll be entering a danger zone. Eden/gw/ shard explosions.

There are chibi spells and resize spells if you’d like to remain smol when wearing it.

I think it would look way way too cluttered if you were able to place a mask under them if it was made to be a hair accessory. Also they aren’t a requirement for any of the harder tasks. Fair enough completing the shard has become a little more tougher but keeping a light source close and your friends close can also protect you just as well as these masks

Its pretty chill as they dont do a lot of damage and you can regain control before hitting the ground, giving you the opportunity to flee for a light source, the main problem was the red crabs as usual lol

personally I don’t think they add anything to the experience - it messes with my depth perception and exacerbates my other physical issues with the shard. as for the factual gameplay if you don’t experience any adverse affectd while doing the shard; they’re dangerous when you are either burning floating plants (can push you into crystals) or when collecting the light fragments for a shard that has them in the air

Sooo thays 12.5 AC from shards alone, PLUS eden... Puts us to ab 28AC a week, now that's 10 weeks to get forest mask... Or just over the duration of a season... Now let's say all the TS are ones you don't have, let's take away 10 AC... Doesn't effect the total

• one elder mask per season, you should have all 3 (so far) by new years

• this goes off having an 11 wedge or around 155 to 170 WL for my estimates for eden

10 weeks = 2.5 months as a rough guess

While I’m all for adding new elder cosmetics, I wish TGC made a typical “eden crown” with the same function(s) of the elder masks. However, instead of going back to the corresponding temples to recharge your mask, I think that whenever you get near a light source (ie; when you recharge your cape) the mask automatically replenishes its energy. I think it would make things a lot easier for the vast majority of players who’ve completed all the constellations.

Edit#1: I see what some of you mean when not adding a “cool down” is too OP. If you were to add a cool down, at least make it between 5-10 seconds before one can recharge the “crown”. However, my point still stands that I don’t think we need to spend a CRAP TON of AC to get all of the elder masks. Eden is arduous as it is and a vast majority of players (like myself) don’t want to constantly sacrifice their avatars every 1-2 weeks just to get AC.

tbh my idea of an eden crown would be to either give you a very small wing recharge rate constantly or to extend your own "proximity recharge radius" to other players from being next to one another to maybe 5 meters with diminishing returns
maybe both if you wanna be spicy. having a multiplayer component would make this really cool and not just a bragging right thing

and to avoid it being "broken" just make it so eden crown effects can't stack between players for ridiculous feats or something

Well yes, that’s exactly the purpose of the “eden crown”. I feel like since all the elders play a “protective” role, the “eden crown” should make one immune to krill attacks, rock rain, crawling, etc. However, the shield can only be “broken” unless you get hit with a stronger form of rock rain.

so being able to turn it on/off would be good imo

I think the idea that @ Irysdal had about the shield extending its protection to other players is a good idea if they keep these features pricey because then it still offers the benefits to those who can't afford it yet.

i don’t know if they’ll listen to my feedback if i’m not a beta tester and honestly it’s getting pretty tiring trying to spread awareness of these issues. i didn’t expect a total rehaul of the whole lighting system within the literal next build but i had hoped that there wouldn’t be anything that made the issues actively worse. i hope that they can be lessened before live but i genuinely don’t know if i feel any more confidence in the team to adjust for their disabled/sensitive players.

Ok, maybe I should clarify my point. Firstly, I think you're misunderstanding my idea(s). So, let me elaborate. With the immunity function implemented into the "eden crown" it should only last for several minutes, when you are NOT attacked by any dark creatures (ie; crabs or krills). However, when you are attacked by dark creatures, your shield will weaken. This will be indicated by a bar (similar to the oxygen feature from Abyss) that tells you how much "shield power" you have left before it is fully depleted. I also agree with extending the extra safety to injured players so their energy is replenished. So, in that sense, it still offers a lot of promise. Now, in terms of how often you can use it, it should have a cooldown (I've mentioned this before) of 5-10 seconds before it can be used again. So, not everyone is at a disadvantage here. I hope this clears up any confusion you might have had.

I am a collector in live ver, but I didn't go to eden every week since i have completed the constellation around a year ago. I never bother to go to eden anymore even to upgrade my wingbuff. I only go there once everytime i run out of ac for TS. Thinking of new eden & it's mechanics, impossible to get max ac in one trip, i hv to go there several times in a week to get max amount of ac. Only around 15ac a week?? For how long do i hv to grind to get the required amount? Just thinking of this has already tiring me out.

This depends on how often you go to Eden as you said. It also adds the factor of how many ||statues you've saved before ascending to orbit||. Once you've saved the affected stars, those will convert into ascended wax, thus giving you the number of AC based on the saved stars. And I also agree with Eden being a chore and arduous as it is.

I think the shield weakening with damage is pretty good, but I'm not sure about the shield still running when you're not taking damage though. I feel like that's something you should be able to just activate manually, kind of like the astro cape from TLP, because there is no point in it running when you don't need it to be. Unless I'm also just misunderstanding that but that's how I understood it. I also feel like the cooldown is kind of short, though I guess that depends on how quickly the shield is weakened. Too quick and too slow can seem unfair.

I’m guessing it was in response to the live feedback that they made it harder, there are more players in live and I guess the “too easy” feedback from live was more frequent than “make it easier”. In my opinion they could have made the rocks black or added a dark creature like the fire trial thing (or something new) in the air. Chibi fall is a glitch as well, and it is very much loved by many players that they bring it back despite it's causing crash in the past.
Tble drive didn't mess with others during candle run (like how ppl complained abt chibi decides to leave other players dry), and it also gv reason for explorers to do cr so they can buy spells, so I'd like to know why remove it?

Ok, let me clarify again. When you "equip" the "crown" the shield power is fully activated and therefore not weakend until you've inflicted damage. Depending on the severity of that damage; lets say you get attacked by a krill. The shield weakens to 50% percent power, so with that said, you only have half of your energy. Then, lets say you get hit by a crab. The shield weakens to 80% percent. Now, lets take a look at how much power we start with. In this example, I will start with 100% as a placeholder. Crabs inflict 20% damage power, reducing your shield power to 80%. Krills will inflict 50% of damage, thus reducing your shield power to 50% (half of what you began with). Hopefully this clears up a few things!

It's a bug, you record a memory somewhere, but decides to go home & cancel it. The game somehow still records the coordinate of your cancelled memory. So if you decide to make a new recording, you'll be thrown back to a coordinate similar to the previously canceled coordinate eventho you're in another map/ area

I think they could make the masks take maybe, say, 5 hits before they break. It would also be great to protect people who are holding your hand or piggybacked (kind of how krills can target props instead of you or your friends—they could target the mask).

The 200+ price is excessive in my opinion, but I generally think it’s good that they are adding to base game content since collectors who collected everything and did everything already might get bored. And the spirits have some really cool designs that players can’t buy but might like to, such as pants, robes, and props that the spirits wear. They could add other elder cosmetics, so maybe the cost could be broken in half between the cosmetics so it seems less expensive?

That’s always something that has to be balanced—from everything I can see, TGC has tried for 3+ years to make sure that cosmetics don’t give a player an unfair gameplay advantage
