Well, during us testing the Earth day event, the office is open for anyone to enter. Just talk to the NPC at the gate for a free pass in. (When they leave, you can probably find someone who will let you in for free also since we all can get the founder's cape for "free" in beta)

Its not too much to do besides waiting a lot, or getting lucky, and managing to get there in that 10 mins while the geyser is active. it shoots a few orbs into the air which gives you wax if you burn them.

I think I figured out how the cameras work, it increases your player camera's depth of field with each level, as you toggle through each camera toggle level (and off to disable it). It's effect is only visible when you walk into the green/blue screen area and position your player camera to look into the area. It's hard to show in pics as I've shown in #beta-screenshots-videos but it's definitely noticeable in person

To download and play if you got in with the invite waves yes. However you can lose all your progress etc. if they decide to do a progress wipe so in terms of that its not 'safe'.

That's exactly it -- could they have made the effect immediately apparent when you pressed the button, or have otherwise guided you through a series of cutscenes that sort of show you what it does? So,

you know how there's pollution on earth? Specifically in oceans?
With every other year the polluted oceans kill entire species of animals and form literal Islands of trash bigger than Madagascar.

For this year's earth day TGC created a charity event specifically to help clean up oceans. And to have the event's representation in the sky kingdom this event's activity is cleaning up a polluted geyser.

If you head to sanctuary islands you'll find out that a boat has crashed on it's shores and has caused and oil leak. Every now and then the geyser erupts - polluting the surroundings. Our job is to clean up that pollution and as a reward we'll get a decent amount of wax.

Parallel to that during the event 2 cosmetics will be sold as IAP for real currencies. A part of the profit will be donated by TGC to help the oceans.

afk is an accessibility issue too. the great thing about you not consenting to an afk passenger is you have the option to drop them. but some people uber their friends knowing they're afk for disabilities like photosensitivity, arthritis (and other ones affecting motor skills), add/adhd, and probably ones I don't even know about. it's really rude/dismissive to tell someone they should be punished for playing the game in a way that adapts to their disabilities.

It all comes down to the agreement made between the Uber and person getting Ubered
A lot of people Uber their afk friends with no problem at all (for many reasons)
People who Uber in general also open themselves up to the possibility of their passenger going afk if they didn’t make any specific agreement in the first place (in that case, one can either try and talk to them or let go of their hand if it’s a bother)
As for passive ways to collect light, they’re bound to get taken advantage of no matter what, adding this system will probably make it worse ngl

But then about the handholding issue. If you're afk irl but the person guiding is moving, you're also moving inside the game, no? So if you're moving, you won't be afk even if holding hands. Being dragged around could be another term for that

I don’t think i will ever appreciate this change. I just think its not adressing the main problem why players behave the way they do, what are their original motives. Plus the initial communication introducing the system still gives a sour taste to the whole thing.
About the uber side, as someone who ubered friends a lot, all realms are possible to do with a person being fully afk, and its a nice challenge. The only thing without a workaround is the tornado (and server splits). I always considered it as a challenge for myself and helping out a friend rather than thinking about it as a burden.

It’s not the purpose of the game tho. I think rewarding it would create a witch-hunt with ppl reporting a lot of innocent players too. The fear of being reported could make some of them very uncomfortable and I doubt that’s something anyone would want.
