if it says that you are a tester, then you have a spot in the beta. google takes a bit to register everyone, so you may have to wait a few days to be able to download. sometimes it takes even longer than that.

The piano used to be the ultimate and owl hair a regular cosmetic. And then they switched. We used to be able to read the feedback channels, but they got so heated that now it's dev read only. People did not like having a hair as an ultimate glad that's in the past, it was a mess

It would be interesting to see the demographic change from pre-release beta and global release, and whether it had any bearing on these types of behaviours. Although, I know people complained about grieving already back in Aviary days. Perhaps it just became more noticeable with more players in the game.

Even tho i'm sending lights it may look like i'm ignoring the other person. Having a personal space would be helpful for those things.

I’m ambivalent about a “light all”. I do find it a meditative experience to light all my friends and also remember what we did together or how we met, if only fleeting.
I think there is a danger in friending everyone and anyone, especially if you’re just doing it for the lights/hearts.

A light all button might not be best for performance. Maybe a "light this page" button. And as for it being meditative . I mean, you wouldn't have to use that button should it be implemented. And I'm going to be honest, I have many ..many friends from helping so many people. And there's no way I have experience with all of them.

It’s a tricky balance, because helping many players is of course a good thing. At the same time, it does hollow out the meaning of friendship in the game. But that’s partly the game design as it is now.

I will agree that the limit on the amount of friends able to be shown in the friend constellation is frustrating. There definitely should be a fix, but such that doesn't take away the experience (like how now your friends are actual stars in the sky that you "visit" in a way by tapping them) and also is engineered in a way to let a large amount of friends (hopefully unlimited) show up
Which is not a very simple thing to come up with

Actually Google has not been cooperative in any invite wave as far as I remember... In each one there was some number of people not able to download Beta after getting in, and I really don't understand why
I am one of those peeps that dealt with the pains of Google in the past. I got in during Sanctuary, but was extremely unlucky to the point that I only managed to download Beta months (just before Prophecy) later. Do not fear tho, I am a very extreme case of unlucky, and the vast majority of people got to download a loot sooner. Hope you manage to as well

It was actually confirmed before that a "Light All" feature will never arrive. Lighting friends is supposed to be something kinda intimate. When you accept a gift of light from a friend, it means they took time out of their day to light you up.

If a light all feature was added, yes you'll get hearts faster, but receiving light from friends will no longer feel special since it's too easy to light up everyone.
Plus, you don't "need" to light people if you want to enjoy Sky. It's really just something to help your friends out and doesn't benefit you whatsoever.

Yes! If theres one thing I appreciate about the sky fandom, its that we often do like to have thoughtful discussions. Beta chat has had some great talks about pros and cons in the past! And so do i, I had to skip on my first 2 TS in order to have enough candles for regular constellations, then it is resource management, if you get your 18 candles a day you can get 2 hearts a day in trading with friends and still have enough candles for every TS, and if you trade only one then you get 3 more candles a day.
This is how I got candle comfy in a month. Being a new player doesn't last long if you understand what you are doing. Let alone leftovers of seasonal candles that are bonus bonus

It's a bug, so it's good that you report it. What happens is that once your Sky kid goes into idle mode (if you stop all activity), reactivating it with your controller won't let you collect wax again. Just playing normally doesn't trigger the afk feature.

Beta system: You don't get anything while your lead gets anything, will make you RERUN again, losing your bonding time with that friend

The new DL rate balance drastically decreased the required wax to reach 20 candles.
With the new rate applied, full CR is about 21.5 candles
Season of Dreams CR path will still yield 19 candles.

In comparison, Live DL rate is 20.2 for Full CR, 17 for SoD path

The only odd thing about this update is that the change of required wax from 1 to 0 chevron is LESS than from 2 to 1.

Also, some of you may have noticed that there is no actual hardcap. When the candle meter goes grey you can still collect wax and candle with a much slower rate. This still applies in the newest version.

I am quite happy with the new update because it FINALLY matches what devs had promised about
(Full CR will still yield the same amount of candle, at the time of SoD)
Right now, you can spend the same amount of time as when you were in SoD, and still get the same amount of candle (roughly), instead of extending the Full CR time to reach the line.
You can definitely work harder to collect all the new wax to get ~2.5 more candles

Well, ok, this was a confusing test, but here goes. Regarding controllers:
I tested it by going to the temple in Prairie, starting by lighting the candles by the entrance.
Then I ran around on the grass for about +2 minutes, ie I didn't actually go actively afk.
I then lit the candles by the pond, but couldn't collect them.
However when I lit the chat bench candle and sat down, I could suddenly collect the wax. 😮
What on earth is the game counting as afk for controllers, then?

Yeah, isn't it weird! I noticed that any inactivity such as not lighting candles or interacting with other things in the game will make you "afk" when using a controller. You can't fly for a longer period of time, for example. But again, this is a bug.

afk system worries me like others with disabilities have mentioned because I rely very heavily on ubers. I listen more than I watch so I'm not actually interacting with the screen. but I"m still being social and regardless of whether it was their intent or not it felt like this update was accusing me of taking advantage of my friends or exploiting the game for adapting my playstyle to a way that I can still play without winding up on the floor (or worse falling down the stairs which I almost did once). I just hope they realize with feedback that this perspective exists because the game has no way of knowing i"m in a voice chat or typing on a chat app that won't make me dizzy while I listen to sky sounds and they drag me.

I remember playing another MMO with player housing. My "guild" of sorts (called free company in that game) would have fashion shows in the FC house. I would get the AFK tag all the time as I didn't "participate" in the shows, but was in the audience and watched the other players perform. We didn't need to interact with the game since all of us were in a Discord VC channel.

I see me doing the same if Cake played in that spotlight in the treehouse. What the game considers AFK, but just enjoying a performance from a friend.

Fresh experience in beta: Saw a stranger coming down into valley ice rink when I was lighting up seasonal candles. I stoped so we might be able to greet each other. The stranger flew through me, collected the light with 0 interaction.
To me, having the need to do candle run efficiently can be one of the big reason of less socializing in sky.
Interestingly, it seems strangers I observed that would "ignore others" are mostly playing alone

Dear developers at TGC,

I have seen that there is an attempt in Sky beta to prevent people who are AFK from collecting wax after some people were abusing this to collect wax at the blooming tree over night.

I am extremely unhappy about the way this seems to be executed with players not touching their controls for two minutes being denied collecting any wax. For me and my friends it is very common to voice-chat or video-chat while flying and farming on sky. Often the friends being lead will be there, talking, joking, laughing while watching their screen but not directly interacting with the game. The game would then deny them colleting any wax – without the leading one even noticing the fact.
There are also the situations where one would be asked to lead while the other needs to be away for a bit and that would take a few minutes (getting something to drink, a family member interrupting, change clothes, toilet break!).

I feel this change is very unfair to players helping each other out.
While I understand that you want to go against players that leech off others while just being inactive, I believe you are going way too far.
If someone is uncomfortable with somebody tagging along afk they can just unhold them at any time or even block them. There never was a real problem with that. And if it’s a nice friend with currently little time at hand, then I don’t at all mind helping them.

Also, the behaviour that triggered you to make this change is directly related to the blooming tree giving endless(?) light. Don’t you think that this is the thing that you should re-think before making any other changes? And the tree will be gone by April 4th anyway.

I implore you to re-think this. Not everyone who seems AFK to the game actually is. Also what am I to do if my girlfriend falls asleep on my hand again?

A hopefully quick question. The quest giver constellation should be season independent, correct? (Excluding the 4 ultimates) My season completion shows as 99% even though I completed all season spirit trees and have the 4 ultimates. I can’t get the bookshelf because I don’t have 30 hearts so that’s the only item missing (which is weird because I know I got it previously when it had cost season candles, but this is beta so that’s fine). The bookshelf shouldn’t count towards season completion as it’s linked to the treehouse quest line - am I correct? btw I can’t wait to test the promised features that somehow connect all the props and make sense of it all.

the seasonal quests are now part of the seasonal completion percentage -- i'm guessing the bookshelf being in the QG tree means it's also counting to it as well now

Quests count as season completion even though they can be done after the season is over, so it's probably the bookshelf you're missing - too slow 🐌

I know what you mean, like i know my case is not that serious in social interaction like yours, but i sometimes just stay quiet, however if a person is nice to you or whatever, is not that bad to do a bow and just go, i think is just being nice to have a better community. This reminds me of the time I was with my friend guiding me on a CR on Wasteland and I noticed a moth dying on the polluted water. I IMMEDIATELLY took her in and took care of her. The next day she showed me her sister who was also a moth. I guided them both through some winged lights before taking them both to eden. They are fully grown now and I'm proud of them

Btw just saying people's play styles are different we are not to advice the players this is how or not how to play some are not good at socializing. some are always socializing some always help some dont even care about others.
but only thing is to avoid being rude to other players like insulting or purposely getting others in harms way. or if you are too young to socialize make sure a parent is with you.

Beta isn't an indication of what's going to happen in live, even though the season is active here. You can find some pictures for the current prices in #beta-screenshots-videos if you want to, but testers are discouraged to make guides or answer those kinds of questions because things can change a lot until it goes Live

Basically, if you really want an exact answer you need to wait until the season begins because no one knows 😄
