What I mean is what TGC promised in the beginning does not correspond to what we get. I agree that the DL benefits the people who don’t have much time or in a rush to cr. But it was stated as such that full cr runners should feel the same as before the DL. But the result is none of the full cr runners I know among my friends are satisfied with the result of the DL as it made to live and it certainly is not the same for them as before the DL. Sure all opinions and feelings are valid but it does feel like that TGC is favoring certain behaviors while repelling others by implementing a certain mechanism whereas they said themselves that “all play style is valid and accepted”. It’s contradictory what they say and how it feels to players with a certain play style (that is non-harmful to others at all) that TGC does not want to encourage.

ok right get to the update, actually tgc might not gonna do this update if those players didnt camp the whole night for the extra waxes from the tree i mean i was pretty suprised when this update is released like i thought no one would dare to do that. for the cr thing, i often uber or tagging along with cr groups, and sometimes whenever ubering or taggin along, the passenger or even myself is handling smth that might took few mins (perhaps 2-10 mins) all of sudden. also i might be confusing where the last spot you trigger the afk mode so you gotta re-run just to find the unclaimed waxes

Think of it like a trial and error process. The things that work stay and the things that cause problems tgc try to solve those. I'm sure they try to think of many possibilities before implementing anything. We have to be patience as they will probably find a solution for problems

sorry i just wanted to pop in and give my opinion really quick, but my friend and i usually communicate through through emojis due to a language barrier, which means that when we cr together, theres usually no need to talk, meaning the new afk system could be triggered. Honestly, i dont think theres a right answer because i totally get where tgc is coming from in the socializing area, but im really worried that this will anger a lot of players (specifically in the looking for group channels)

I think tgc trying to implement an afk system isn’t bad at all considering i had plenty if players who made my job and my friend’s as an uber very difficult because they’re insisting on going afk without telling beforehand. However i do have to point out that the timer being 2 minutes is a bit too excessive.
On the topic of the tree i don’t see the point of implementing an afk system just because of it considering if a player is willing to go as far as sitting there for 10 hours just to get the bare minimum of wax. I don’t see the point of trying to tell the players what to do honestly. If they want to make unhealthy choices leave them be

I did it with my friends! It's really relaxing actually. We put up tents and the fire thing so we don't lose our energy. We also put up hammocks and one of my friend plays an instrument. I love this new season 🥺🥺❤️ it really does feel like we're camping somewhere.

I read back a little and i have to agree with Emma, i left feedbacks about daily light too did several full runs, left feedbacks and besides ui and rate changes I didn’t see anything else changing, not in the logic of the system. Sometimes i’m just not sure they are ‘answering’ the right questions with these changes.
About the Afk system, i read several times that beta is a small and probably a more extreme playerbase which isn’t necessarily representative to millions of players in live. Now we did one day of testing under the tree mostly to see the hard cap and how much we can get by being afk and suddenly it is representative? it was honestly doesn’t worth it I doubt many had a device they don’t use at all to be just afk. They should limit tree wax but handhold really? Guess im gonna write a long feedback

I think the problem with the afk thing is places like forest if it server merges there’s nothing to burn, although if moving your camera counts it might work. I try not to chat too much when my friends lead since I know it’ll slow them down, so Like Pakka said I think just the tree wax and other event wax to come should be limited like how the dragon was, since some people do homework while they get ubered and stuff since they don’t have time otherwise

there are lots of reasons why a 5 minute timer on all activity can be bad. and lots of reasons why an afk timer can be good. keep testing and letting TGC know if and how it affects the way you play!

I think a good idea is for friends to be able to light up your props to interact with them.

Since tables are only solid if you sit on them, there's no real way to do the same with a tent or bookshelf. But lighting these two up might be a good solution to that

So, Sky now prevents AFK players from receiving wax. My question is, if I’m being dragged around by someone else, and I’m not interacting with my screen at all, will I still collect wax? I think you would, since your character is still being moved, but I wanted to check.

I've been playing Sky for almost a year now and Sky's earning system did eventually made me worn out of the game. Saying that "If you don't enjoy the game, then leave" just disregards how people really feel towards the game.

As far as I could remember, Sky was supposed to be a social, relaxing game. From my personal experience, my friends and I would sometimes uber whoever needs help while theyre multitasking with their workloads at the same time.

Dont tell me that that habit could be unhealthy, people have their own reasons too. Some, while working alone could eventually feel lonely and maybe need companionship. But as for the uber, wouldnt their works be in vain if they farmed to help their friends, only to find out that they dont gain any?

What would be the point of looking for help in looking-for-friends channels if that would be implimented?

I'm sorry for sounding a bit harsh. I understand that Sky was trying to find ways to make their game more engaging, and all these are still in beta which means they'restill to be tested. Just felt the need to voice them out here. Also yes, was offended with the "if you dont like it then leave" kind of response.

As far as I'm concerned I understand why the AFK system has been implemented for testing in the Beta, but it also shows a bigger problem in my opinion.

If people are to the point where they would keep their device on all night just to collect candle wax from a tree, doesn't that mean there is a bit of an unhealthy practice going on as far as collecting candles overall?

TS pricing is quite high and it's one of the reasons I no longer candle run as I didn't realize I was making myself get physically very sick because I didn't want to miss out on a cosmetic I may not be able to see again..

The AFK system COULD work but I feel like it's not quite up to how it should be especially considering some people can't focus on Sky all the time especially if they are being taken around by an Uber for a CR, sorry if my words came out all jumbled together :stickerGloomy:

So if i did the math right you only get 2.6 candles with the new system in place going afk all night if you sleep for a regular 8 hours. If you sleep for like 12 hours you get about 4 candles. This is a decent amount of candles but its not an absurdly huge amount

Just wanna clarify that last part, TGC didn't decide to change the reset time it changed for you because we (in America) have daylight savings time, so the time changes by one hour twice a year (it's confusing...) . I'm not sure about it, I mean I know the intention behind it is to keep players away from sleeping under the tree.. but to implement in on CR, I find it a bit weird. I mean socializing is not bound to chatting on sky via sky only. I know there are groups of friends who collect candles in turns while letting each other afk and communicate through other means like voice calls etc.. and not to mention, the uber thing, is often out of kindness to allow our friends to do stuffs irl so they have time to socialize instead of collecting candles only on sky later.

What I meant is, 😔;; I don't know, I feel like this will further discourage the candle run groups.. and I think candle runners are also a part of sky players, no?🥺;

We had just had massive season candle conversion.... The few I saw there didn’t need wax. Several people I know were trying find out the max for the chevron system, and whether the tree wax drop was part of that. I think it was the first time people saw gray candles below 0 chevron. This is beta where people try to reverse engineer things 😉 Not worth the hassle and wear on battery etc for a couple pieces of virtual wax.

Honestly, I've always thought ubering (between actual friends) was one of the most social aspects of Sky

Most talking and socializing I do.... Happens when I'm tagging along on an uber CR bus
Not to mention, between friends, there's a lot of trust that goes into letting your friend do one realm, and then you do another

This game likes to call itself a community game, but there isn't anything about the gameplay that actually adds to interacting with other players (besides unintentionals like rocket and bike)
The only major thing that you really rely on each other for, gameplay wise, is holding hands

I dont think we should be taking away from the gameplay we already have in order to build community

Instead we should be adding abilities that allow us all to boost each other up as an active team to improve playing the game together

If the afk rule is only for the tree, then make it so that the afk rule only applies to home. Easy fix.

Not everyone lurks or checks the beta to see what's going on, and that's thousands to millions of other sky players it knowing about this. Personally, they should only do this to afk players who are not CRing. Some realms don't require much participation or other players (like opening gates), so some can be afk for awhile.

Well, since we still talking about this topic... I've thought about it. And there should be certain conditions, and situations on where an AFK system should come into place.
I would like to note that before I start, I don't approve of the current system, but feel that we should have it.

I understand that a lot of people get ubered close friends. I'm one of those people. But if two random people were to get together, and one candle ran, it doesn't sit right with me when the one being dragged would just be doing nothing. Have a talk, chat, do something, besides watch in silence. And if you don't, the AFK would be like "hey, you're doing nothing, taking advantage of being dragged", and send you home or something.

If the pair were great friends, like they hung out all of the time, it would be understandable that they would drag eachother. An AFK system shouldn't affect this. Instead, there should be a point, some kind of bar, or maybe how much you chat, OR SOMETHING, that tells you that the two are great friends, and whole pigging/holding hands, they can drag eachother without an AFK system kicking in.

At least, those are my new thoughts on it.

unpopular opinion: having friends who aren't afk will speed up your candle runs by a LOT (espeically the ones that don't have warp; in other words the ones you actually have to wait for). It's much easier to do a CR when your friends are properly deep calling and buring big plants with you/grabbing hands properly than dragging AFKs around.

this change definitely isn't perfect; i can totally see that being annoying (most of my friend group has died, so i only uber 1-2 active friends and haven't felt what it's like to drag afk friends in a while). but the keyword is FRIENDS; in other words, the ppl you actually WANT to wait for. Personally, I've been turned off from ubering ppl idk due to how they afk in every uber I do. That said, they definitely could have thought this decision over on how it impacts large groups of friend ubers

Patch notes really could stand to be more clear across the board. "Daily light balancing adjustments" tells us almost nothing and I hate having to wait on beta players to figure out what those balance adjustments even are or even what direction they are in.

If they are going to punish afk players they shouldn’t be punishing people that are candle running. Five minutes is completely unreasonable. Completely. 30 minutes I can understand. Five minutes is insanity and will 100% affect how many of us Uber’s play with our semi afk friends or even ourselves if we are not leading and step away to use the bathroom/get a snack/attend to kids or pets etc

I have a very close and loving friend group, and there is barely any time we could all be present 100% 1-2 is usually afk or semi afk. I never been frustrated if they went afk.

1. We usually tell each other if we need to go afk
2. When i need dragging they would do the same for me so its mutual. Whoever has time and energy leads.
3. If any of us feels like we dont want afk player today, we open the chat and write that down so none of us have to read minds. Easy right?
   Sky doesnt have body language,to read, sky doesnt have tones like real life talking. If the other player doesnt say it or show it by emotes they want or dont want to do something i cant read minds. I think most of these afk uber frustration comes from the lack of communication or miscommunication, plus if the leader is annoyed by it, its really not hard to drop anyone. And honestly it feels ridiculous randomly tapping the screen evry too minute when we dint want to talk...just to make sure we get wax.

On that note - why not just make it so the tree has no passive light?? THAT is the issue. What did they think was gonna happen? Make the tree so it must be interacted with. Of course we are talking about an event now that is already well under way in live and so testing this in beta seems very backwards and addressing it too late. So for future events - why not make this “extra” light require some interaction to appear in the first place - just like the dragon.

I don't feel particularly good about our beta tree shenanigans at least partially contributing to the introduction of this anti afk feature - back then we were having fun stretching the limits of daily light without the faintest idea it could lead to this. passive wax sources themselves should be limited without needing overarching features which decrease quality of life

This was long, long ago - about a year and a half ago, when this server was still relatively new and things were still being fleshed out - I don’t know if you can still do this since I haven’t been outside of the Beta channels for a long time, but you could type commands into the meme channel and Skybot would react accordingly - sometimes with a ping. I recall someone exploiting Skybot’s pinging system one day by naming themselves @(everyone), and due to some scripting issues iirc Skybot took that as a chance to... well, ping everyone

This exactly. I didn’t even do this in beta because I had no idea it was a thing. The tree rarely seemed to give much light anyway and I just don’t spend that much time in beta. It never occurred for me to test it other than “yes okay I can sometimes gather light here so I guess that’s working”
