I don't know English" (which seems like they put that through an english translator) I tell them to use the in game translator but they continue to pester me with things like "please translate to my language" It's tedious to do it every time and though the in game translator is still a work in progress, it works to the point where the translated chats make sense

I find the tool works fine for most language. But as always, slang and colloquial phrases may not always translate accurately. I have found that it often doesn't want to work for just one Chinese symbol, for example.

Beta freeze is a fairly new thing. It seems to happen most notably in village when someone activates the gondolas.

yeah on beta you typically have to burn plants yourself. there's significantly less beta testers than live players and a lot of us older beta testers don't candle run daily. helps if you cr with friends

Sorry i saw this a little late. I was able to bind mine both to live and beta, without any problem. Both works perfectly, however this was on android. My phone offers me the 2 app to chose from everytime i scan them. Ios as i heard from my friends is different, and they haven’t figured out a way yet to bind the pin to both also how to chose which app they want the spell to be used. That’s a question for someone smarter than me in the topic.

that doesn't mean that your feelings aren't as important though. spirits are a core aspect of the game, but i can definitely see some improvement with them and make spirits more interactive. feel free to let the devs know about how you feel in one of the feedback channels. I for one would have loved to see the village full of roaming spirits, although I know that it wouldn't be feasible for our phones.

Seasonal Spirits aren't meant to be relived unless they've returned as a Traveling Spirit. It's been a very persistent, and tricky, bug to solve. It seems when refactoring the quest code, we finally found the underlying cause. I understand this bug fix is upsetting to you, but that is one of many reasons we advise folks to not get too attached to bugs, eventually they will get fixed.

Vol, I’d like to say that being attached to minor characters are nothing weird! The base game spirits need just as much love, and you being “obsessed” with them shows the effort tcg put into them didn’t go to waste or anything.

It's hard to say what will and will not make it to Live in the end. At the moment, the settings menu has changed in beta, yes. And in doing that the Home glitch was also (accidentally?) removed.

the devs have recently changed the ui for the settings, which accidentally patched home trick through the settings. it's mentioned in the pins.

there are other tricks to dodge krill that don't involve the settings, but as blep said, we have no idea when this will go to live. home trick was a bug anyways, so it was bound to be patched out at some point

So last testing season had a seasonal heart bug where it gave you a normal heart instead. Now those ults I didn’t really like. Those weren’t my favorite. But these new ults? I want ‘em! But I don’t wanna be a victim of that bug, even though I never encountered it previous season. I saw ONE report on this bug in iOS bugs that took place during season of dreams. Which is why I have never redeemed any seasonal hearts yet.

It’s kind of a moot point to say nobody joins beta to get preview of new features, when the whole point of the invite wave feature is to get players to test new features.
There has never been any compensation for joining beta, but there is also no obligation. TGC has said you can play just like in Live, if you want, but also focus more on only the new stuff.
What is important is to give constructive feedback and send bug reports, because we’re testing what will eventually end up in Live.

It's important that all types of players can experience beta for different types of feedback. after all, live has all types of players too. some testers like to find bugs specifically, some look at new content, and some just want to have fun and give feedback on their experiences.

it's good to keep in mind that free content shouldn't be the sole reason why a player is in beta. giving feedback and occasional bug reports are the most important things for tgc to develop the game

although, when in beta, you tend to break the game even if you aren't looking for ways to do so

I brought this up because a friend of mine (also from early beta) was also talking about it with me, so i wanted to try and put it constructively. Players doing beta testing brings a lot of value to the game — the saying goes like "with enough eyes, all bugs are shallow". But it seems like there is a larger reliance on free beta testing from players (with a number of major bugs being reported from players), than what started as doing "load testing for the servers" in early beta.

I’m not saying at all that the sole reason for playing beta is getting free content. I'm saying it’s not surprising that people might, at least partially, be motivated by that, given that people aren’t doing it as their job.

Voluntary work is fine and can be fulfilling — I’m from the open source community — but there’s a certain point even there, where people are recognising that it’s worth paying people for the work that they do. You’ve probably heard the same about Sky (that it’s a free game but TGC need to be paid somehow.) I hope it’s reasonable enough to consider that maybe beta players can do this for free, but TGC does get financial value from the collective work that they do (an overall more bug-free experience to sell)

So my thoughts are, maybe a reward like the beta cape again for the more recent beta testers might not be so unreasonable. Or maybe it’s worth considering expanding the QA team who will be paid.

It is available in beta but resides with Vault elder so you need to finish Vault first and the invisicape costs 999 hearts. So yes it’s possible to own it legitimately on beta without haxing.

I’m responding to this quite late, so I’m not going to ping flo. Just wanted to reply to this quote: “So my thoughts are, maybe a reward like the beta cape again for the more recent beta testers might not be so unreasonable. Or maybe it’s worth considering expanding the QA team who will be paid.”

There seems to be a slight misconception about what beta was like back in the day before Live release. It was literally nothing like it is now; the game as it looks now was introduced maybe a month or so before Live happened. Before that, it was a constantly evolving process, which means that these so-called original beta players were part of the development process of the game.

This is not to lessen the importance of beta testing now, but there is a distinct difference in playing in an already finished product with some add-ons vs playing in a constantly changing environment.

I would like to stress that the beta cape wasn’t any sort of payment or compensation. It was a surprise gift that no one knew anything about. Officially saying that a similar thing will be given to new beta testers would most definitely lead to the wrong reasons for joining. Plus, after all, the cape is merely a fancy cosmetic that lets you into an Easter Egg. It doesn’t give you special powers.

When I started beta. First wave invites/iOS (maybe that played a part) I went through forest and was pleasantly surprised by the karate spirit TS. Now that items are AP locked. It asked me to buy the AP for the locked items and that was still the Prophecy AP. Soon after the Dreams AP became available but instead of converting in normal candles they converted in Dreams candles. So I started with like 51 Dreams seasonal candles. And got the UG cape today
