So uh, I can't get in to vault of knowledge. It won't download. It's also trying to download night, eye of eden, and "audioextra." I've tried clearing Google related app cache and data and things like that, but it's still not working. i have no idea what's going on lol. should i delete the app and reinstall? I'm ok with running the game again.

neon: that sounds like you don't have enough space on your device. You need a good few Gb for both Live and beta.
NotCefa: iap is free, such AP and the Founder's cape. All other items from regular and seasonal spirits must be bought with candles that you farm yourself.

@proper helm when u use the ingame option for screenshot it increases the graphics to the maximum for a second so u don't see any difference

@proper helm You should always update to the latest patch. That is kind of the point of beta testing in Sky. It is important that everyone is on the same version, if possible (sometimes iOS and Android differ for various reasons), especially with these smaller patches without specific patch notes where you wouldn't know what has been fixed/added. Only rarely have we been told to not update, because there was a critical error found in one patch.
And yes, slow mode is incredibly annoying. It would be very much appreciated if everyone stopped spamming their diary entries of frustration so that we can talk about actual things in beta instead.

The devs aren’t taking away compatibility off devices afaik. That sounds like the issue that’s happening to a lot of Android live players on the Play Store. Try these steps to fix it

Colour me surprised, but I am actually unsure if this is considered a bug: when in the mask closet wearing the chibi mask and trying on masks I don't own yet, I remain chibi size. I can't remember if this is the case in Live also (I'll go check later). I feel as if this should be a bug, since it's misleading. What say you, fellow beta players?

Progress can be wiped in beta, if it's needed for some reason. It hasn't happened since iOS was launched, though. It's more likely you will just lose access in a future wipe, as stated in #beta-faq . ETA: Progress wipe has more to do with what needs to be tested. The pre-iOS wipe was because a new currency system was introduced and needed to be tested from scratch. It isn't very likely that there will be a completely new currency system introduced this late in the game's development, so I wouldn't say there is a high probability of a progress wipe happening. But you never know. I hope that makes sense.

Please. The reason we're on slow mode here is because of these types of OT posts. There is nothing any of us fellow players nor TGC can do about Google being slow. Try to be patient and let this channel go back to its actual topic of discussing activities regarding beta gameplay. Or play the Live version for a while instead. The Beta version of the game is a completely separate app that TGC use to test Sky Patch Updates and Hotfixes before they release them into the regular Live version of the game.
The Sky Beta is NOT:
The full version of the game
An early-access version, alternative, or substitute for the Live version of the game
Please do read #beta-faq before you apply to beta, it is a testing field and the point is NOT about being the first one to enjoy everything, it is more about the responsibility for being together improved and make this game better and also helping as an optional reference

@sturdy anvil As far as I see beta is really not only just for hunting bugs. You can test features like social ranking etc. , and you can think about them. Play with the idea in your head, what could be the pros and cons of features like this. Since the whole game is a social one they need opinions about big, not bug related changes too. So they can predict how the live players will react and what should they change before it goes to live.🙂🤔

What I wanted to say, is even tho u miss days u could spend with bug hunting, there will be always plenty off stuff u can give feedback about, when google finally decides, to let android beta players in. 😅

hi, my game won't download vault of knowledge. i checked my connection, cleared Google related apps cache and stuff, but it still doesn't seem to download. it's also trying to download eden, extra audio, and the nighttime at home. I'm not exactly sure what to do, because the google thing keeps popping up to ask me to download it, then immediately fails and asks me to download it again. I'm not sure if this is a Google bug or a sky bug so I haven't done anything yet. But I can't really play with the Google thing popping up every half a second to ask me to download something ;v;

@spark lance If you are talking about the seasonal candles you obtained through purchasing preorder passes endlessly, then they will likely get wiped before the next season testing starts. If it didn't, then you can use them during next season, and the rest will be converted to normal candles when the season ends. But sometimes the conversion doesn't work properly in beta so we know nothing for sure

And later on the game will force you to update effectively locking you out of the game

For level download problems, you can try to redownload the game to fix it. As long as you're registered as a tester you will be able to download it again, so don't worry about getting "locked out." Just make sure to link your sky account to a Google/Game Center account and save your skyID in beta if you'd like to keep your progress so far

that's why they're not telling us the date, because people will be waiting and all slots will be filled up right after the invites are sent. And the TGC doesn't want people damaging their health waiting for the invites, staying up late and all. So it's strongly discouraged you waiting for it the whole time. I waited for like half a day and decided if it comes to me one day it'll come. And i was at my laptop at the right time when i got the notification, so don't worry your chance will come

It doesn’t. Season pass costs 10 bucks in both. The 20 buck preorder has 3 passes, and is also in beta

imo they should have two methods to get into beta; the discord invite links and an e-mail sign up. that way when the beta players from the discord stop playing they can "wipe them" and start sending out invites to the players on the waiting list. i think it would help eliminate the issue of players not eating or sleeping and they won't have inactive players in beta taking up spots/opportunities to find bugs.

It's entirely possible that the next invite will happen only on Monday, back when it's working hours for them. Or before that, or after. We don't know when they will happen, so follow the instructions in #beta-faq, get the role, set notifications on and be patient

Honestly, you can submit any feedback on anything regarding beta there, but as players, we don't know what it's like in their company or how those decisions get made. I'd suggest speaking on a personal level on how the current beta invite system affects you if you want to suggest something. They will always take our feedback into account, but the decision it's ultimately up to them on how they can handle doing those things

If you suggest solutions and talk about how it affects other people, then the most important feedback, your personal experience, can lose impact. Speculating and suggesting changes can still be ok in moderation, but your direct observations on how you play, what the problems are for you, and what you do to overcome them are key info.

Hello new and future beta testers. I know beta can be extremely boring at times so here are a few tips to make bug hunting a little less- blah
🔸Hunt with friends! Wether it’s old or new friends! Get a group together and go bug hunting! The more the merrier (unless you’re the one leading then- good luck 
)
🔸Create a new music playlist or listen to your favorite songs! Music can really help brighten your mood and get you- in the zone for some extreme bug catching
🔸Instead of playing hours at a time, break it up so you can play a couple times throughout your day, this way it won’t be a huge hassle if like me, you also want to keep up to date with your live account as well.
🔸If it isn’t for you, it’s okay to leave. Being a beta tester isn’t for everyone, leaving just gives someone else a chance and makes sure we still have active beta testers

And if you don’t know what to look for besides the regular gameplay, here’s few things you can test in the beta right now: overheating fixes- how does your device feel playing sky, after a few minutes or a few hours? portrait mode on iOS- try doing a full playthrough, how is it? how are the controls, the UI, etc? what could be improved? the friendliness ranking- still a mystery to most beta testers, all players are assigned a friendliness meter and get a badge when they're either a new player or a shepherd (max meter). you can see yours in the top right corner in the friendship constellation. how do you feel about this feature? how do you think it works? Those are all things you can submit in #beta-feedback after playing around a bit

The season of enchantment is over in beta however the ark is a permanent location in the game, hence the main spirit stays so that you can restore the ark, the pass having a different logo is because that is the logo of the next season, also there is a bug right now which gives unlimited seasonal candles, all of which will probably be removed by the devs when the next season starts. The android issue is a google problem, doesn’t happen with everyone and can take several days to be fixed. Just be patient
And when you get in, in beta sometimes we will go weeks without an update, without something to test. There isn’t much to test at the moment either. Beta testing in general has a lot to do with bugs, waiting, following instructions, so don’t worry so much about it, you’re not missing out on anything

There will be many, many, many, many, many, many updates in beta for “bug fixes and improvements”, such as the latest one. Relevant features and information will be noted in #beta-announcements by TGC, as writing detailed patch notes is just a waste of time in beta, so don’t get too excited for every update here. Sometimes we get multiple updates a day and they’re all minor. Best way to figure out if something changed is to boot up the game and test it

The best example for that right now might be a recent fix that was part of the latest patch for live, that fixed some candles in the forest that didn’t give wax. I’ve been playing this game for a long time and that has been broken for as long as I can remember, and they still fixed it. Remember the team is tiny, and they often have to prioritize things to fix, but they work very hard to eventually fix them all- so reports on bugs are always appreciated

I know the slowmode is annoying, but it's extremely necessary given the chaos that happened when we didn't have slowmode on. Just as an example, poorly-behaved users caused so much spam the server went into outage- meaning some users couldn't access the links available which is absolutely unacceptable to happen again, and I apologize you all have to endure it because of a few. If you're waiting for invites or waiting for google to recognize you as a tester, just be patient. Beta testing itself is all about following instructions and lots patience

Not exactly normal, but google can take several days to actually register you as a tester after you join the testing program. This happens every android wave, how long google takes differs from user to user, and you really just have to wait it out if the information in the faq didn't help you

Without a season to test, Beta seems empty for now, probably because of time zone differences. Apart from the occasional pings in #beta-looking-for-group channel what do you think about having regular drop times, so everyone has the chance to meet other players and also to be able to open multi-player doors? Maybe a major group drop every 6 hours? It will give 4 chances to get playing with more people. During season testing we can park it as the servers will be busy then anyway. What do you think about this idea?

What deeply bothers me is the incredibly unhealthy behavior being exhibited by people who are staying up 20+ hours, losing sleep and even getting aggressive about getting into beta. And while it is flattering that people are so eager to help test, it saddens us that you all would put yourselves at risk for it. At the end of the day, Sky is a game, and yes the community is lovely, but it's still not worth that kind of frustration and duress. Not to mention, the health risks of doing that sort of thing long term, especially during a global pandemic when people should be the most mindful about their health and wellbeing.

What I’ve seen with people both bragging and whining about staying up late for waves is there’s basically nothing you can say to stop them. It’s repeated so often that beta is not a higher version of live, a status symbol, a way to get free content, or anything of the sort. Though some are so dead-set to get in that they don’t care about anything told to them to curb an unhealthy obsession/habit. Even with this, it will never hurt to discourage that behavior, hopefully people will begin to realize beta isn’t a sandbox wonderland.

Yeah guys beta is not that different than sky, it’s not really going to be early access for anything new it’s just a side by side game to test stuff. A lot of things right now you can’t even do in beta like the rainbow event like you can in live. It’s just for finding bugs and making sure things run smoothly. Also we can’t keep everything we get in beta either unlike live so aaaa. Beta is nice but it’s reallly not that different and I feel like a lot of people will want to get in and then just lose interest because you have to grind the same as live except you lose all of that when the testing is over, so live is probably a better place for wanting to get cool stuff. I don’t mean this in a mean spirited way or anything it’s just maybe peeps think Beta has a bunch of stuff live doesn’t have?

We don’t know when the next season will be tested in beta, but likely it’ll be a little while. We still haven’t finished enchantment in live yet. All we know about the next season is the pass symbol that is in beta.

Adding on to the “beta isn’t a better version of live” it’s actually quite opposite. Beta is worse, gameplay wise. Live is an improved version of beta, beta exists solely to make live even better, there is no social status in being in beta, we are just the worker bees trying to keep the hive running, the live game is the true prize. Kinda hard to even be a beta tester when you are running on 0 hours of sleep.

Thank you for the reply but I read that already and have tried both safari and chrome. Same problem. This also happened with the other waves I tried to join. I’ve used TestFlight before and it worked perfectly. I think it may just be bugged for my version of device.
Edit: after trying for the 5th time with no difference in me just loading and reloading it in safari it seems to have appeared and worked this time and is downloading the app. No idea why it only worked then but keep trying everyone, seems a little bugged on some devices so make sure to continue to reload the page if the button is not appearing and you have already followed the #beta-faq advice.

ODR (on-demand resources) is typically disabled on Beta, so you download the full suite of game files every time instead of on-demand/as-needed as you play.
The entire game is close to 1gb, instead of the 150mb you see from the app store for the Live game.

Not exactly a cheery message, but there isn't really anything exciting in the beta right now. The beta itself is not exciting. It's a testing site for new things and many, many bugs. It's about following instructions and a lot of waiting and being patient, so just wait it out and it will be okay. You're not missing out on anything waiting a few days

Beta is a testing ground for live. This means things in beta will have different timing, can often be incomplete or partial depending on what tgc needs, or sometimes events in live dont even take place on beta. It is NOT the full game. Youre on beta to test and find bugs!

generally seasons are tested for 2 weeks but it's dependant on whether it's ready for testing and whether it's ready for the live game. As for when? When they're ready.

@fresh forge FAQ is people referring to #beta-faq as it lists a lot of frequently asked questions and provides answers. Also discord might seem intimidating but it’s quite easy to use and navigate. There are youtube vids/google articles that can help you familiarize yourself more with it. Also! Google: “How to read discord pins”, There are pretty much helpful posts pinned in almost every channel here. It’s really worth to read them as well.

The only way to download beta is becoming a tester either on Android or iOS, by clicking the links in #beta-signup-info when available. Downloading any applications from third parties can result in serious data issues, malware and it does nothing to help TGC test the game, as well as may cause problems for yourself as that's against the TOS. That discussion will not be allowed to take place here

yes! the wipe was an access wipe, so it only took away people's access to beta. But everything they had remains on their account regardless of if they continued to test or not, iirc the last full on progress wipe was around or before global launch.

There is no regular candle pack in the beta iap shops. There only the starter pack and the ||founders pack in the office||. These come with regular candles and so you can get a bunch and just save it. Previous seasons conversions also help you save. There’s only the seasonal pack in the iap store and it gives seasonal candles and the candles you get from the glitch are likely to be wiped amyways

Please, we all feel and sympathise with your issues with Google and/or missing out on beta invites. But there is nothing we can do about it and you’re really just clogging up this chat, which should be used for discussions about beta gameplay. Read the FAQ for problem shooting suggestions or go and play the Live game. There are probably fun bugs to find there too.

@hoary hearth First, I think you may need to change your username as adult themed names are not allowed on this server. Secondly, the purpose of beta is to play as normally as you can and being able to just buy candles would defeat that. You can get 115 candles from buying the Founder’s cape in office also.
ETA: Albeit your name being a latin word, it still means something that probably isn’t ok with the rules of this server. Thanks for changing it!
When I said “normally”, I meant collecting wax the regular way. Buying candle packs is not cheating, but it’s not something every player can do. So if we in beta play as vanilla as possible, it’s for the better 👍🏻

If you mean progress wipe, then yes. But someone said last progress wipe was before global release.. Im not sure though..

Beta progress can be reset at any time. (but TGC will likely give a heads up in advance, the last one was before global release in July 2019)
Beta access wipe though will be done after each seasonal testing cycle. You'll have to wait for the invite waves if you want to gain access once more after this testing cycle has come to an end.

It was me who mentioned the progress wipe back before iOS launch happened. At that time it was because a new currency system was being put in place and we all needed to try it out before release. So, the first rule of beta is Do Not Get Too Attached To Your Cosmetics.

You aren’t supposed to see stuff in beta feedback. The devs want your constructive opinion, not your agreement to other people’s posts. You will be able to write and send a message and the devs will get the feedback

Version builds may differ between iOS and Android, so perhaps the 6 was just for Android? Naming conventions for builds don’t seem to have a set standard, according to Google, but they may be:
1st digit: major release
2nd digit: minor version
3rd digit: revision of 2nd

TestFlight gives you the patch info. You can check there. Not all patches will get detailed explanations though. That’s too much for ktjn.
