Beta cape and founders capes are different items. Most of the people you see have founders cape. The beta cape was handed out only once. You can still get the founders cape in the office in beta. the cape you are probably seeing is the founders cape (blue with black inside) which is the one you can buy. the beta cape (blue with white inside) was only given out once before the global release.
we don’t know. the reason why they don’t tell us is that it would cause heavy camping at the link and the chat would become chaotic and people would get angry at the people running it because they didn’t get in. because of campers.
you can buy items from travelling spirits, but enchantment's spirits won't come back until after next season. (just like rhythm's won't come back until enchantment is over.)

we don't know when season starts in beta. it starts when it starts. (sometime after enchantment ends in live.)
beta is not as important as your health. please go get sleep, eat food, etc. it's just a testing ground for bugs and new features. it's not as exciting as people make it out to be, and some people get bored of it in like a day and then leave.

it's not possible to transfer beta to live or vice versa due to the free IAPs, but i'm not sure if it is possible to transfer beta data to another beta app on a different phone. good question.

clearing your google play service data doesn't erase all of your game process. i'm not sure what it does, but it doesn't clear your games' data. personal experience.
the invisible cape? 99 ascended candles for the wing buff and 999 hearts on the item itself.
it usually changes to seasonal candles at the end of the season but there was that one bug that allowed people to get a LOT of seasonal candles so they'll probably be wiped. no one knows though.
the headphones aren't in android yet. it's being worked on. i don't believe it's in beta android yet either. but in iOS, just play the audio from a different app and bam. magjik.

Personally, I try to go on beta whenever there is a new thing to be tested (they would be shared in #beta-announcements) and if there's any major changes to gameplay (such as changes in controls, the portrait mode, optimizations, etc) do at least a full run of the game to submit some feedback on it

Likewise- generally when a new patch is released I’ll play it and specifically check out whatever that patch relates to. As such it’s not too difficult to balance with live.

Seasons are usually when most beta players will be active, not only because there are many things that need serious testing but also to see the new stuff. Personally again, I try to avoid testing a few seasons in beta to not spoil myself completely, so it is definitely okay to play beta only once in a while, take breaks or not join some waves

Yeah beta is very empty if you compare it to live. Not only there's way less people in it (millions of players vs a few thousand), not everyone will be active all the time. Make friends, ask in #beta-looking-for-group, glitch if it's not harmful sometimes and help each other

I used to log on every day at least and play a little bit, but lately it's been more when a new patch has arrived. For major changes such as a new season, I would play in parallel with Live. So, it can be quite hard work sometimes. 
The good thing about being a veteran is you basically know every nook and cranny, the bad thing is that it can make you a little blind.

Usually they are converted 1:1. But if you've exploited the current pre-order glitch it is very likely that those candles will be wiped in a coming patch.
ETA: Oddly enough, the pre-order glitch was patched earlier in beta, but for some reason a subsequent patch undid that, which means new beta members can use it again.

You are not getting the Beta cape, + entering beta just for that would be kind of selfish since it's actually to help TGC prepare for live.

If you're an Android user and the link says you're a beta tester, but you can't install the beta app, don't worry!! Google is slow and it might take a while before you are able to install beta. You might wait for hours or even for days, but it's okay, you just need to be patient

I kind of see a need a for a QnH beta channel, but also don't. Someone else put it so well yesterday: if the game fails to be intuitive enough for you to understand what you are supposed to be doing, leave that in #beta-feedback . Sky has been deliberately designed to not need extensive tutorials. You're supposed to just explore and find things on your own. In beta, there may be some experimental mechanics that we are meant to test and give feedback on, so do that. Most of these are explained in patch notes. Most other things can be found in #beta-faq .
Some basics: a) IAPs are free, b) there is no transfer between beta/Live, c) beta basically works the same way as Live with the exception of new features/seasons, d) don't expect everything in beta to be released to Live in exactly the same manner

—Your seasonal candles do transfer after the season! Usually it was a bug that you could spam it, and their probably going to wipe that. (kinda want a progress wipe because I spent all my office candles on the travelling spirit. )
—Slowmode is enabled for people to NOT spam. Do not get mad at it. (this is passive aggressive, I don’t mean to sound rude. 
)

I talked about this in the looking for group in beta channel but basically, someone was waiting for me to pray for the stone to be fully white. At first I was like: wait does the that actually work? So I just continued thinking nothing of it until theY BURNED THE STATU E. I know it’s little and I’d probably forget about it in 2 days but I was kinda like 👁️👄👁️. They tried to light my candle to see what I look like but yk I’m already pretty than them anyways so they didn’t need to !! 😍

My app never left the playstore....Right after KTJN posted the wave ping earlier I was playing and fell asleep playing. I just went back in because the rainbow wasn't in vault or at home earlier to finish dailies if they were there now and yes the rainbow is at home now but...all my seasonal cosmetics are gone. The only thing I do have is the earth day cape and beta cape. All my wings are gone I had 76. And I dont see anything in beta faq or news about it....doesn't mean it's not there ....i just didn't see anything.

Yes I downloaded mine off the playstore, you just have to be patient.
If you have previously downloaded the beta for past seasons, delete the app and reinstall with the latest update it may help.
If you are installing the app for the first time be patient and wait for the update to appear.
Don't worry, if you have alr clicked the "become a tester" button your spot has been saved.

It can be instant, take a few hours or several days for it to appear. This doesn't happen to everyone, and is known to happen with other games as well (as well as other issues). It's frustrating, but just be patient. It's not Sky or TGC's fault
Like this seriously happens every single android wave and it just takes some time and people eventually get recognized as testers, just by waiting

A few things you can test in the beta right now: overheating fixes- how does your device feel playing sky, after a few minutes or a few hours? portrait mode on iOS- try doing a full playthrough, how is it? how are the controls, the UI, etc? what could be improved? the friendliness ranking- still a mystery to most beta testers, all players are assigned a friendliness meter and get a badge when they're either a new player or a shepherd (max meter). you can see yours in the top right corner in the friendship constellation. how do you feel about this feature? how do you think it works? Those are all things you can submit in #beta-feedback after playing around a bit

Mami, the translate button is a work in progress, so not really a bug as such. It may not work properly or sometimes not at all for some languages. The translation engine was recently changed also, so any feedback on it is probably appreciated. ETA: I have used it for Japanese and it seemed to work ok with a little delay.

I feel like this needs to be said.. please be careful or don't play beta at all if you have epilepsy/photosensitivity issues. I've found several bugs (and reported them) where the screen or certain parts of it violently flash in different colours and there's no way to stop it except restarting the game. please be careful!
regarding below: I believe the staff have said its ok to report bugs that have already been reported? especially to indicate whether a player would be able to tell the difference between a feature working as intended or that its a bug (sorry if this doesn't make sense)

I’m a little curious if new beta peeps also play the Live game, because I’m seeing quite a few bug reports about things that are present in Live as regular features. (Such as the relive spirit having a ‘?’ on its stone in the hub.) Granted, there are also a few things that have been in beta for a long time, such as the invisible cape placeholder, which regular players wouldn’t have known about unless they lurked here before. It’s wonderful that everyone is so enthusiastic, but please try to take a moment to check if something is either a new feature or already in the Live game.

@median oyster Some beta players have been in beta for +2 years. There have been both access and progress wipes, but if only your access is revoked and you manage to snatch a new spot, your items stay. Clarification: beta is one game, it's not several different ones. "Previous beta" is literally just an earlier patch and usually the same players test many different patches.
@warm badger Yes and no. An access wipe, such as the present one, means everyone is “kicked out” and need to reapply for access. I wouldn’t spend too much time on getting the same things as in Live, since you can both lose access and progress in beta.

KOR, yes, I saw that but didn't want to call you specifically out. Do you also play the Live game? If so, it's always good to double check if something is already an established feature there before reporting. You can also check the FAQ for beta, or past patch notes (https://thatgamecompany.helpshift.com/a/sky-beta/). It's not always updated, but you can find some key information there.
ETA: Just to add that of course, if you feel it may be a bug don't hesitate to report it. As TrebleMaika mentions below, it's good for the devs to know something isn't working as intended. I just got the feeling many new beta players are very eager to find bugged features, which could instead go in the feedback thread.

Nothing “new” at this time, @jovial lantern. But we do have portrait mode on iOS that do need some testing and feedback, the Shepherd (friend ranking) feature, as well as the overheating issues some devices experience.

Just finished first beta Eden run. Made a new friend. Got 14 red candles. And noted at least 10 bugs just in Eden. Will do the admin work in a bit. Overheating is a thing: not that it burns my hands but battery drain is significant (from 81% to 10% in ~2.5 hour gameplay - in Live I used to have at least 35-40% left after 3-4 hr gameplay, before Season of Enchantment for sure). Portrait mode I am developing a liking to, it somehow centers everything more around the avatar, getting close to first-person mode play experience.

I believe the bot tells you where to find that, when you are instructed to provide it. But otherwise you can find it in your phone's settings for the app. You know, where your apps are listed? Click the beta app and there should be an info page, just like for all your other apps.
ETA: You can see the current build below, but it's good if you find out where it's located for the future.

Guys think of it this way: There's no practical reason for an event to continue in beta once it has hit live. Think of it as a sign of a job well done. TGC let beta testers try it out, got bug reports and feedback and they straighted out the bumps. The event is good to launch live and beta's role in it is over. 
Go enjoy the event on ur live account. It took a lot of teamwork and effort to get it there.

i think they tried to fix the overheating issue. i can't be sure tho. like shushia said, every device is different. some may be overheating, some may not. some may just have battery drain.

I think it’s only for shepherds to distinguish new players and vice versa, only shepherds can see the hearts above new players and new players can only see the icon above the shepherds, hope this helps! This is an assumption

The friendliness ranking isn’t a new feature, it’s been beta-only for a few months and it’s intended to be mysterious so we don’t know much about it. Play around the game for a bit, try to figure out how it works and how you like it, and submit your thoughts in #beta-feedback

Gunant, you can't buy regular candles in beta because if we could, we could buy infinite candles and not play the game. the purpose of beta is to find bugs, and play the game regularly. so if we could buy candles, we wouldn't go candle running and stuff.

There is no need for message in caps. There is no season in beta right now, and those candles are from pre-order. Usually they would be carried over when the next season starts, but it’s very likely they will be wiped given people can get thousands of them because the bug. Aka, don’t count on getting all those free candles and not actually testing the season, beta is not a free-for-all to preview new and paid stuff
And most importantly, we don’t have any details in beta about the new season other than the one you can see at the IAP store. Do not share speculation or false information here, even if it was an honest question

@spark lance sharing beta content over YouTube is great but please note that things in beta are subject to a lot of change before it hits live. In the past we've had people come in and ask questions or get disappointed that the expectations they built up from a beta vid did not come true. if you make a vid, it'd be great to add in a disclaimer about changes so there is less confusion if/when the vid becomes out of date.

we get the founder's cape you buy in the IAPs, but not the true one. again, it doesn't transfer.
the waves don't happen every day. we don't know when they happen beforehand either. they happen when they happen.
it may or may not, but if you leave the testing program, there's a chance you might not get back in. and it might still be slow. you can try downloading from google play games. otherwise, wait. this is an issue with google. it can take up to days for google to register you as a tester.
make sure you search up your question, check the pins, and read the beta related channels such as #beta-faq, #beta-announcements , and #beta-known-issues before asking!

tips on bug hunting:
🔹 - like knite said: Play the game normally when you can. Devs definitely prioritize fixing game-breaking bugs that affects all players, but smaller-niche bugs will be likely be set at a lower priority.
🔹 - If live gets an update and a bug you reported is still there, please do not get discouraged, the devs didn’t ignore you, the fix is just at a lower priority. (edit) or a bug that is difficult to fix and may take more time.
🔹 - Also read #beta-news when a dev shares new features and fixes... try to actively test out the stuff they mention. I also lurk around beta-screenshots and this discussion channel cause people tend to share interesting bugs they’ve discovered or want confirmation on.
🔹 - When giving reports, be concise about details and be polite! a tgc staff member has to read all of that. Adding in screenshots and vids is a definite bonus
🔹 - see what bugs people are testing and sometimes... It's good to sit out and be a control group. For example some people bought multiple seasons passes and got tons of seasonal candles. I chose not to do that so if anything comes up that makes my experience different from theirs (and vice versa) I can let Devs know thru report or feedback
But biggest thing is don’t worry if you don’t bump into any bugs. It’s ok to chill and take breaks when you need it! There’s lots of other active beta players

I think that part of the reason why some bugs that aren't low priority take awhile to fix is because I assume sky's code lines are massive (it is a pretty large game, after all!). Having to go through that and find what the reason for a single bug is is probably pretty difficult as is.

Fish call currently is the placeholder for the capeless cape. Capeless is currently supposed to be very hard to obtain so hence the 99 ascended candles. It costs 999 hearts itself

I often have issues where when i join my friend for a cutscene at the end of a level, and i skip the cutscene and they dont, they end up vanishing instead of staying there kneeling, and I often try going home and warping back to them but they'll just vanish again after glimpsing them briefly. I have this problem in live and also in beta now, is this something that I should post as a glitch and in live or beta because it happens in both?

I'm not a professional but I do know that when you go into code to add/remove/edit things, it can effect something else creating a new issue, so I think it's possible you might just be on a version where the bug did not exist yet

Wing buffs are tied to how many spirits you ascend, not really how many wings you go to eden with. If you are confused about any of these mechanics, heading to #eden-spoilers would be a better place as you can discuss freely there without the slowmode ^^

The only way to download beta is becoming a tester either on Android or iOS, by clicking the links in #beta-signup-info when available. Downloading any applications from third parties can result in serious data issues, malware and it does nothing to help TGC test the game, as well as may cause problems for yourself as that's against the TOS. That discussion will not be allowed to take place here
Google can take several days to register you as a tester, unfortunately. Just be patient, as long as you're a tester it should work

Question. I’ve had beta for a while now and with the recent beta update of bugfixes and improvements, my TestFlight says ‘you’re currently installing another version of Sky Beta’, what does it mean ? usually the update goes through without much problem

I had that come up too @shut edge the download was slow and I left TestFlight and when I came back it said install and when I clicked on it I got that message. The beta update probably isn’t completely installed yet. Wait a bit and see if you get the dot on the beta app that indicated it’s been updated. Then if you quit TestFlight and open it again everything should be back to normal. Hope that helps

Everything's normal so far. I've been browsing through the beta screenshots so I could be mentally ready for what's up in beta. Glad that I didn't loose my sanity while waiting for the invite.
I heard that beta doesnt heat your phone that much, so I guess that's something to look forward for. I don't care about being rich there for now, I just don't want my phone to be a fry pan everytime I play Sky
This chat's slowmode is endurable so far. Atleast it isn't as slow as Google's PlayStore

I'm aware that beta's gonna be full of bugs, but what I'm curous to know is that how it feels like when you're playing beta. I'm more curious about the experience rather than the content, since you can already see the content in screenshots
Another small thing I'm looking forward in beta is hearing the old broken ark music again. I personally prefer that than the more lively one, since it's more violin-ish and emotional

Mine was from the google play with the same account, just downloaded on different device, and the file explorer just allowed you to send it via Bluetooth to ur main device. Is that even not allowed @amber umbra?
