Yeah not everything should and could cater to literally everyone, there may be one group of players who like them, some would find them rather skippable and it's normal xD

If I think about it, people who get upset over new cosmetics not being cool, and blaming beta players for that, are likely upset because they can’t flex cool new things in front of their friends/moths. It’s inherently not coming from a good place, and it’s a vain emotion. So I think as long as you yourself enjoy sky and enjoy testing new things and catching bugs, you are a great beta tester, and nothing will take away from that. People who want to get social points due to their cool style in Sky can’t take away from your excitement about and love of such a beautiful and kind game that inspires to bring out the best in us. There will be those who misinterpret the point of Sky, and miss its message. But we don’t play for them, and so why would their pov matter to us?

Honestly I'd wish the community is kinder than what it is currently but can't be helped and I guess it's best to enjoy the game ourselves, and strive for improvement with things like live feedback and even beta testing

There's too many people who misinterpret the point of Sky nowadays anyway. The amount of times I've been in Golden Wasteland and see other people fighting over who has better style is... yeah. Let's leave it at that. I myself am a collector in Live, so beta did not matter for me in terms of cosmetics. All I cared about was the fact I could share my feedback about my own opinions and thoughts earlier on than Live. I didn't submit too much feedback I felt, but I submitted what I felt was appropriate and reported the bugs that hindered my own gameplay because I would not want a Live player to face it themselves.

I can say, role-locking is not that difficult. A lot of servers have role-locked channels, it's incredibly common. You just manually give the roles to the people you want to access those channels. I'm sure it'll be done because the questionaire may ask our discord user or something

I remember hearing about this. Apparently you become an overlord 💀 type of character and the spirits and krill in Sky will all call you master and ask you how you'll attack the sky kids. Then you'll become the demon lord and all the sky kids in live will have to go to your newfound country to defeat you.

Well you go into it with the mind of a regular player, because of course the purpose is to gain insight into how players genuinely feel about new content, if something is intuitive or if it's confusing, what sort of emotions does it bring about. From there you also just get slapped upside the head with the silliest of bugs
Overall I've found beta testing to be a positive experience, not only do you learn a great deal of appreciation for how complex gamedev can be, but you also get to engage with fellow testers at length who may have similar or vastly different perspectives. It's a lot of fun, a lot of learning about not only a game you love, but yourself too, and I would recommend anybody who has ever been interested in beta testing to sign up if they're able!

I'm a beta player for about 5 years.This long-term beta test by volunteers was very unique, and I liked it.
We will be sent to the other side of the stars now.
I thought having players with long experience has been believed that it is effective in setting up sky's new variety of costumes.
I don't know what kind of beta test it will be yet, but I hope that such a test will be carried out so that the bug cannot be carried over in the live version much more than now.

The Beta was an open beta, where everyone could be invted to it and see it. it was made at the start of Sky, and didn't change over the years.
With the growth of Sky, this kind of open beta didn't keep up and thus the devs have chosen to revamp it

They are changing it so that :
There will be periodic resets and access of testers
There is a questionnaire to complete, instead of "first arrived, first served"
An NDA to sign, meaning no beta content will be made public
and IOS-only for now, for better security

This revamp should allow for a "stronger feedback loop, security boost, and wider variety of tester feedback at the start of development"

They have once actually. But on a much less major scale. Back during Abyss and Hiking Grouch's visit as TS, there was a bug where everything including seasonal cosmetics and the ultimate gifts cost candles instead of its intended currency. I knew a friend at the time that spent a lot on candle packs to take advantage of the bug. TGC later rolled back the accounts and refunded everyone who spent their candles on anything they purchased.

So unless a bug like that happens again, I highly doubt they'd do such thing to the Live servers.

Sorry but gonna step in to correct the ambiguous phrasing/potential misinformation:

We have never done resets like this in live. Never. No resetting account progress, no indiscriminant access wipes.

If there is a bug like what HylianHero5000 mentioned—wrong currency to unlock an item, for example—that is a very different situation where we need to take action to correct a mistake we made that gives some players an unfair advantage (in that specific instance, a player potentially being able to get paid items for free if they had enough regular candles saved up). That is not "resetting progress"—that's fixing a bug and an exploit.

For me Sky used to be a really fun place to just hang out and meet people all over the world. And although yes I get it, everyone wants new things I feel like the prices of IAP and all of the new cosmetics are very draining having to grind again and again. On top of new event tickets. For the working class it is a struggle trying to balance. And at some points in time Live feels more like a job then a game.

I think that with beta gone, we’ll be testing new content on live. We can treat live as beta now and submit bug reports. Especially since Android and other platforms will need our support in catching bugs when new content drops in live. I just think we can migrate to live and pretty much continue doing similar things. The only difference will be the designs of cosmetics will be final. But we can depend on new beta testers to try to feedback on the designs as much as they can

I think it would make sense to have some, if not all of the previous cosmetics available in some way, since every player will be "new" in this version. Because I don't know how else people will be able to test if the new items will have bugs and glitches with the old items. Okay so , every testing cycle has a scope, and I would imagine adding unnecessary elements like full cosmetic access would only divert attention from what actually needs to be tested (and also attract the wrong eyeballs to the program) - if an important gameplay feature is in beta, but a large portion of testers are more focused on trying on old cosmetics rather than engaging with new mechanics, it would create unnecessary noise and dilute meaningful feedback for tgc - one of the reasons most internal QA teams are usually given specific areas to evaluate and specific builds^ of the game with only the features or content that need testing. If older cosmetics ever do require testing (which, so far, tgc hasn’t specifically requested) they would prob do targeted distribution which ensures that feedback and bug reports are relevant to the build being worked on!
