okay so a friend and I went to eden and new changes:

• the nonstop fall get up thing is related to if you try to jump while getting rock smacked, so instead you do a pretty fast floor non walking glide without jumping and it still feels annoying but less frustrating than before
• the get up animation is frustratingly slow tbh
• overall better scaled for about 180 WL going in, I wasn’t struggling as much to get the last statue as before

@outer flint it’s missing from people’s inventories so you can’t see it either way
also asking for outfit previews in beta isn’t allowed

the reason I put it at the very bottom is because when playstation launched, sassy did show up in beta way later in the correct order so when PC launches, the spirits on there will be added to the TS order like normal

btw leo water trial is still completeable but like
it feels like the skill cap has risen to be a bit more difficult if you struggle with the trial in general, esp if you're shorter

like there's a learning curve but it still is like
like if you start jumping before the water has lowered completely, you're diving headfirst into that than feet first and it be sketchy if you wanna be quick

I just did it in live a couple hours ago, so I haven't tried it out yet. Thanks for telling me. I just had the dive mechanic creep up on me when I tried to do the new quest, and it was ridiculously annoying.

on the bright side, a friend and I went to the turtle to see if the jump mechanic impacts the plant burning and it doesn't
the turtle has its own gravitational field where the diving thing doesn't try to activate

there’s a jump in water trial that’s already impossible to do the intended way in live if you’re shortest height
Implementing diving animation game-wide, as-is is a massive oversight. I hope that since they can program diving to not activate on the turtle’s collision, it can be done for the entirety of water trial as well as other sensible areas of the game.
Or the inverse would happen, and diving would be programmed to a few relevant areas only.

I think it's fun but it needs to be turned down for certain places in the game

they still haven't fixed the overcorrection on jumping either
like vertical wall jumping in fire trial skip is virtually just
you will just overshoot and can't save yourself and it's a pain

oh yeah mony I think you jinxed me because the eden run after you talked about being stuck over the PNR map it happened to me in live and I had to restart my game

happened in tonight’s run in live as well, but something new happened. as a group, after we were sent to purgatory above the map, we got automatically passed through to the void cutscene without waiting for the pop-up. it took somewhere between 1 and 2 minutes. silent “bugfix” that checks the state of your server? at least something to help if they can’t 100% get rid of those false positive players causing the purgatory glitch.

i’ve never documented it happening to anyone in the past year.

Yes because Days of Fortune was announced in #news already and the event has launched in live, Days of Love has also been announced in #news to start on the 12th February (PST reset) but until then you won't be able to see anything from the event in live.

As for other things being tested in beta, they aren't in live.

Beta and live Sky are both separate apps so essentially treat them as separate games, you won't see anything from beta in live until tgc sends it in an official update which will always be announced in the news channel

I haven't tried the plant by the Chill Sunbather cave where the crabs are but there seems to be water out of bounds on the floor of the cave in there. I know this because in Live if I hit the ground hard enough sometimes that I can hear water sound effects through my special headphones.

I do know if you chibi fall down in there too there's water, but honestly I don't have any clue if it affects the diving animation or not.

The sanctuary turtle has its own gravitational field that magnetises anyone to its back so I didn't have any problems with the diving mechanic when jumping around trying to burn it, hopping around does regular jumps even near the edge

If anything it's the overcorrection on jumping and not diving that makes it annoying

There is a plant in the water in the boneyard by the star closest to the exit to the battleground, which sometimes gives trouble burning it

To be fair they did say they'll revisit wardrobe categories at some point, it wasn't ever considered the end result as far as I can recall - but also worth considering live may have had different feedback with the length of time the changes have existed there, also that other things have taken more priority in the meantime.

I mean they're even still working on separating shoes, but we only seem to be getting one change at a time for those, things just take time.

I love this! When i redid the intro a million times, the first introduction to other players for new players is indeed at that bell cutscene. So this might definitely help prevent other new players from thinking we're all NPCs or ignoring them. Yay!!

I was so used to the boyish Isle hair being the second one in the hairstyle closet and the Santa hat coming right after the elder hairstyles. The cosmetics used to be sorted after constellation (Isle on top, followed by Prairie, Forest..). It made sense I think

Now the daily seasonal candle is back in homespace, I don’t really mind the TS being only in Aviary tbh. It’s just once every two weeks, it makes more sense to me to have the TS in Aviary with the rest of the spirits.

i know this isn’t a conversation anymore really, but i was reading up and i agree completely with everything that was said regarding homespace; coming from someone who decided very firmly that homespace is my spawn point so i have kind of strong feelings lol

I think they'll focus on home development a little more at some point. They have said they want to continue trying out having both options and since live feedback when the candle and dailies switched it definitely feels like they're trying to get as much more feedback as possible with surveys, etc., and even with bloom it looks like they're trying to make sure home isn't left out of events again!

I just think it'll be a long process and in the mean time I wish they wouldn't take things away because that doesn't really feel necessary. We've seen both home and aviary can have TS at the same time so I just wonder what the reason for removing them entirely from home is.

I think I'm still excited to see how Aviary continues to develop too, I like the fact it's a lil village hub of connection, I just hope it doesn't come at the expense of home. But! I think tgc have seen how much the community enjoy both so far, I'm hoping they can find a nice balance

I’m not sure why event warps and traveling spirits can’t be in both home and aviary, I like the bloom tree at home but I miss being able to warp from there.

The cape description says that the cape will show the deer to people who own it whereas people who don't can't see it. So it's actually used to just summon the deer to the area. Everyone has access to the area itself. Being instantly teleported there is also a plus to the cape since you can get there quickly.

I do think the cape should do more though. Tlp asteroid jacket basically gives you a private server where no one can join (unless you brought them with you) and a massive area to explore. Aurora wings a whole replayable concert with a transformed area. For the price, I think the 9 color deer cape needs to do more. I've already feedbacked about it though.

I wouldn't mind if the area was still accessible to other players but when you use the cape it takes you to a private version. I super like tlp area because of that. Another cool thing it could do potentially is change the time of day and show the deer but have it only be visible for people who hold hands with you when the cape is activated and remain like that when everyone let's go.

I dunno. 20 USD just feels like the functional aspect needs a little more.

I know there's a sense of how is this thing valuable compared to other thing and a lot of focus is placed on what does it do, but I also think it's worth considering other factors.

For example, it's a collaboration piece, there are only 2 collab IAPs this season, they have to consider pricing for those to ensure they pay copyright and make profit. Not the biggest priority for players, but it is for developers.

There's also the fact it's a new texture for cosmetics in game, so not only do we get to see the deer, we also get access to this shiny opalescent item that there isn't anything similar in game currently. I'd consider whether this requires more complicated modelling/tech to achieve and how the pricing may reflect this effort.

Value differs from person to person, but it's probably not just the singular "this cape does this thing" that we see mentioned often in these scenarios.

I saw some folks say that the color saturation seemed different in yesterday's update, while the bright bloomy areas of the levels were a lot less eye-piercing. Gonna pass along a bit of background as best I can (I am many things but not a graphics engineer), it's a bit long—

This is part of an overall update to address some of that eye-piercyness (as our senior graphics engineer explained to me, "The point is not for everything to be radioactive." )

For folks who feel like the colors aren't quite as saturated as before, some of this could be due to your specific device—some use SDR mode, some use HDR, some support both (though Android and Switch don't). Different devices will display white at different intensities, and overall, it's pretty complex to setup for all these different considerations on iOS, PS4, Windows, SteamDeck, and then the MANY types of Android devices.

Anyhow—as the shaders and other graphics elements are updated, please don't forget to try out different graphics settings options on your device(s). Check if you have HDR on (if your display can support it), and if your device (iOS) itself is set to max brightness (max brightness = lower intensity), and whether you're using the default HDR settings.

In that case, for Samsung users i play sky in its "natural display mode" where the colours are gentler on screen so in the latest beta update screen it looks dustier. Tbh I feel its unnecessary to desaturate colours in darker places where the bloom isn't that intense ngl

I'd say we really need the saturation toggle to suit their preferences and needs rather than making it desaturated on all devices

Again I'm not a graphics engineer, but the system is definitely complex, like, a giant hanging mobile with 1000 different parts. It's not always possible to adjust one element (in this case, bloom) without affecting another.

I’ll still be dreaming of the day the bloom filter/shader is turned down for all platform types, so scenes like #beta-screenshots-videos message read more clearly.

I commend the graphics team for finally addressing the problem of the “radioactivity” in Sky’s lighting system. It’s been a long time coming for several player demographics and clearly has a lot of moving parts that dip themselves into every area of the game.

But then, I would assume the next graphical byproduct/challenge caused by the game’s lighting system players would want addressed would be.. lightening up the areas that currently are, but aren’t intended to be, pitch black.

Average development experience

I began to learn programming through JAVA these days, and was often annoyed by varions issues.

The worst situation is when the tiny program, which I only spent about 50 minutes writing it, passes compilation, succeeds to run without exceptions, but the output isn't what you want.

Then it takes a long-long time to debug and fix it, almost five times as long to write it down. Luckily enough I located where went wrong.

Anyway Sky:cotl isn't a small program like this.... Finally I understand devs after learning programming myself

Something a little off-topic: on Samsung devices (like my S23) if I leave the color setting on natural, every time I enter Sky, a white glow will appear and the game will be darker, as if I had activated HDR, and Samsung does not support it in games, that said I believe this is some bug related to the game when leaving the colors different, but I don't think it has much to do with what you said, and you are not a graphics engineer either, but I wanted to share this little problem since you touched on the subject.

with shallow water it very much depends on the depth of said water and the height of your skid I feel

Those are the iap pants from last years bloom I believe. They can be obtained in the aviary room where the bloom spirit is at the gift shop tea table. However there was a bug last year where buying the pants made you get the tulip cape. If that happened to you then you can no longer get them.

I know this is probably better for Live but since it didn't make it out of beta, I was talking to a friend about that one restaurant out of bounds location in Revival. I'm not sure if it's still there or not, however I had a very brilliant idea that if they were to somehow bring that restaurant back, it would REALLY be fitting for it to be a 2nd location for Grandma's occasional meals. Think about it, there should be a restaurant in Aviary where you don't need to travel to Elevated Clearing all the time. I really hope I can somehow submit this as feedback but I'm not sure if I can because this only existed in beta for a little while.

So should I submit this as #beta-feedback since that restaurant never made it to Live? I'm honestly debating on whether it goes there or perhaps #wishlist-and-ideas-archived?

Today, I got all my quests at the same time after two clicks, but before I had to click around ~20 times to have them all activated
