When a new beta update arrives, Sagomay gives us - a very much loved - message with the new features. But how it works, what details it entails etc is most often not given.

It’s always clear what we need to test though, I highly suggest looking at other update posts in #beta-announcements. They also gave us a detailed response in regards to this topic: #beta-announcements message

For the new events: we need to test out the event currency. The event itself, the cosmetics using spells, etc.

As a side note, many things have been discovered in beta that weren't mentioned in any patch notes at all, just because beta testers are diligent and persistent. While I personally think that guides, charts etc should be more readily available for Live players, I don't think beta would benefit from it in relation to how TGC uses the beta programme and how they want the game to be played in general

Of course I missed a convo about Aviary last night cuz I fell asleep, but lemme just say this to those who were a part of it: I think I'm the only one who reeeeaaaaalllyyyyy wants the Aviary to replace Home. Idc if it has a toggle for crowd mode or not (though that would be ideal) or if the current Home space sticks around, I just want to be done with that space. It's literally the most boring place in the game imo, and it doesn't even make sense to me. I get it, most people are getting tired of the crowd mode (I 100% agree it's being overused) and I do think it could be overwhelming for new players, but at the same time, we don't yet know how everything is gonna work yet and I think it could work great as a replacement for Home. Maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part, but let's just wait and see. I'm just tired of the current Home space

I actually find the home space the least boring! It’s where I have the most (wanted) interaction, but it’s also the place where I can just hang around a little without being in the vicinity of a spirit, it’s where I start my day in Sky.

I love the routine, but Aviary being a different space would be nice. I like having an option where I can choose to be in a relatively quiet home space, or being in a more crowded “home space”

Fair enough, I personally find that I am the most bored in Home space cuz unless there's an event going on, there is literally nothing to do there. Except socialize with friends, but even then, the friends that I actually wanna socialize with are usually busy IRL or playing other games. Having stuff to do in Aviary would more than make up for that imo

Generally yes, but with a few exceptions because Beta doesn’t always test events for its total duration, some things are not tested in Beta, or other items may be removed because of bugs or internal decisions. For example, the first few seasons were very short in testing so we weren’t able to get ultimate gifts until Belonging. Days of Healing is an example of an event that was not tested in Beta, so we couldn’t get the white flower. And I can think of the Kizuna AI collaboration items that got removed from testers’ closets (which you can find an explanation for in #beta-announcements)

Also keep in mind that only people that have been testing at the time were able to get some things that are no longer available, similar to Live. And that everything has a chance to be changed or removed if needed

Alright well my theory if thats what you call it on days of music is that it will probably come within the next 2 weeks i say that because people are posting pricing and when they do that the event usually comes soon after. About the new home i think its amazing I literally love home but its a little boring and the concept kind of reminds me of stray in midtown. Sorry if i am using the wrong words they fit right in my mind🥹 but anyways my rough estimate on the pricing of the iaps :violin days of rainbow new stuff. The violin shouldn’t be too expensive like $50 $40 it should probably sit between $20-$30 but others hope it’d sit between $15-$25 so its in their price range. The days of rainbow new outfit is great but it also shouldn’t be too pricey it should range from $10-$20 maybe $10-$15 but the earrings should range from $5-$10 if you look back to the other earrings(right?) all i have been thinking about these past few weeks is days of music and the pricing of the violin🥹(send help) enjoy the paragraph

We probably see a surge in those as well cause of the recent Beta waves and new people getting to test the content. The guitar sound is very far from perfect and the violin sounds good to me. I think depends on what your hearing is more sensitive about. I'm playing guitar and I can tell by a fraction of second Sky guitars are unnatural. But also I understand it's hard to synthesize realistic quality instrument sounds into such a game.

You don't actually have to press any notes on the instruments to spawn the tickets; you can just pick it up and quietly put it back down to avoid interrupting any nearby musicians

When you get close to the Performance guide in Harmony Hall, a hint appears at the bottom of the screen that says something about tickets being lost in the instruments!

(It could definitely be more prominent, though. It's easy to overlook since it's a small message & players are used to ignoring the regular gameplay hints that constantly appear in the same spot.)

I just handed my brother my beta account to test the tickets and he was confused what to do to get the tickets. I had to specify to look through everything. Even then he looked through everything and not just the instruments.

(My link to the past gameplay had this same problem, lack of information because of text or just no NPC to guide to the secrets. I had to constantly look up to guides online to be able to get to the secrets)

I think that after a while you get the hang of where to look for things, because it's always a similar mechanism. But this means you do have to play the game for a while to achieve that understanding, so no, the game is not intuitively easy for beginners

Many games also have "tutorial" intro sections that teach you how the game works, so you recognise the pattern when you meet it again. You know, like in the new Zelda game, you have to perform certain tasks to proceed and get your new abilities

I mean tgc want us to find things out via gameplay as it's kinda their brand with journey and all. It's fine to explore, scavenge and work things out if you have the time.
But the hints on where to find things and why you can't buy things yet were useful for me at least.

I think an interesting way to tell the player about the hidden tickets would be through a cutscene or a real time action where one of the spirits, trying to clean a instruments section, picks up an instrument and a ticket falls from it or from the section

tbf season candles are not very intuitive either. I know lots of moths who didn't understand what they were for or how to collect them at first.
it's just that with event tickets there's another confusing currency that's gonna be somewhat of a learning curve for many players so hopefully we'll get a small cutscene or hint that explains how to collect them and what they're for

Maybe the instruments themselves could give a hint to encourage interaction? Like, making them wiggle or sparkle a little, to draw the player's attention. And some kind of audio cue too, maybe, although that might get drowned out/be overwhelming with how much noise HH already has. (And all this would stop once you've collected their ticket for the day, of course.)

It might also be nice if Forgetful Storyteller cycled through expressions in Harmony Hall the same way they do at Home, to help draw the player towards them. I didn't even realize they were there & had a shop when I first found Harmony Hall :']

Do you think that Sky is getting too complex? Maybe I am getting old but I am not catching up with new changes like the shards and I am still puzzled with the event currency. I know I am eventually get them but I started about 2 and half years ago, Things got much more complex compare to back then and missing the simplicity of old time.

The “new” feature(not rlly new since it’s been enacted since shattering) that I personally dislike is the one when you are unable to move much when you lose wing light. Before shattering season, you were able to still collect them yourself by jumping and running towards a lost wing lights, but now you need other players around you to collect them since you’re reduced to a crawling/helpless state. It fits the shattering theme and “helping others” but it’s made it more difficult to collect yourself if there’s no one around you

You can find more tickets by interacting with the instruments on the walls of Harmony Hall! You can also get a 2 tickets by attempting the daily music challenge. (For a total of 13 tickets per day.)

There's also the 4 free tickets that can be claimed (with a cooldown) from the front desk spell shop, right next to the violin on display.

Yes! For the rainbow bubble tickets, there was 4 scattered in Oreo's area, a big bubble worth 4 after summoning the rainbow, and a big bubble worth 4 from completing the rainbow daily quest.

There was also 4 free tickets from the bucket by the rainbow guides in Oreo's area (with a cooldown as well). On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, there was also a bonus bubble by the rainbow clock/campfire in Forest Brook worth 2 tickets

Oh my. I was wondering why other players have the rainbow cape so fast while I only had 106 which was not enough to buy the cape. There were some issues with the rainbow daily quest. When I clicked to receive the big bubble after finish the quest, I got pulled out of the game and had to restart sky so I missed a lot tickets 🥲

Yes, unfortunately there were quite a few bubbles that couldn't be collected because they crashed the app, so many players didn't earn enough in time for the cape

It is more of a place for tgc to test new things with players before being released to the live version of the game. It helps with making sure when new events are being released all players are able to experience events smoothly without complications.

Second of all, sky is not a full released game. You can't 100% complete the game (only constellations).

Edit: but what you class as completing the game is down to you on how you play and your point of view

There are constant updates with sky so it allows the continuation of interest for both old and new players to continue playing

I think you need quite a few people to exchange hearts with regularly. It takes time. Most of us who have it, managed to do it because of a candle bug that gave us tens of thousands candles for a short time, but I do also have one friend who got it before that through just diligent saving

I joined beta after the candle bug so what I did was wait till after a season ended and constantly went to prairie and GW home and friended everyone and exchange hearts, then continue to exchange hearts with them in the constellation. Everyone is candle rich after a season ends. When TS came I only bought the buff. All my candles were only for heart exchange. It took me 3 mths of daily friending and exchanging but I got my invisible cape.

Make sure you have enough space on your phone to install beta, it needs several gb of space to be able to install properly

Videos aren't accurate since we were never guaranteed to get enough during beta testing - the price has been decreased to 104 in fact (during testing it was 134).
If we get 8 tickets per day as the minimum + the initial 8 when we login the first time then it will only take us 12 days to reach 104 tickets.

Huawei only have extra cause of the server complications, but that won't affect players on other platforms since the event will run for 14 days, just means those on Huawei will be able to get the cape earlier if they've already been collecting.

Yes. We wouldn't make it impossible to get the new IGC ticket cape because of an error/bug on our part, that would be all kinds of things, not least of all "silly" and "meaniepants." The extra 8 currency will automatically be added if you log in at any point during the event, so that will be zero effort to collect.

Hello all Beta Testers I has a question, I watched nasty mold's video almost a month ago and the sax was increased to 102 Event tickets, and then in a recent beta video six days ago the price was dropped to 53 Event tickets?

Is this accurate?

If you by “accurate” you’re asking if it’s going to be that price when it comes to live, we don’t know. Things in beta can change during or after testing when they are released to the live version

If you're on Android it doesn't matter but iOS you need to pop in once in a while

Personally I find it easier to try escape earlier by barrel rolling downward than to the sides
The side clouds obscure your view so you can get trapped in the winds again

Personally, I typically spin my way out of it one way or another, or sometimes I position my camera in the direction I want to go and gently teeter my way through the wind current, if I can

Good day! Sorry to change the subject, but I have a question about adding friends in beta ...

I have QR screenshots and links that ppl have sent me but when I click them the game just loads up like normal and doesn't actually add them to my friends list. I feel really silly, like I'm missing something obvious 😅 Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Invitation links do not work properly in beta. You will need to import the QR code image from the "Add Friend" button in the sky friend constellation.

a friend of mine had the og rainbow cape during the group playtests and it works just fine
both the new and old one can satisfy all colours

Nope, prices always stay the same. Cosmetics don't become cheaper or more expensive, they will always cost the same. The OG days of rainbow cape was 175 candles last year as well

nah, i mean that any time a new cape gets released, it will be more expensive than other previous capes for that event. like look at how the old bloom capes were only 70 candles at release, and now any new capes are getting close to 200 each. we're essentially experiencing inflated prices for new content

and they addressed this in the economy blogpost for why they did that (which is in the pins of this channel)
and thus all new items are now ticket based to offset the candle grind (unless you're a new player who wants the old items)

Ah yes you're right in that regard, tgc did publish a blog about the economy of sky in which they justified them raising the prices (which I personally dont agree with) but I highly suggest reading that. It's an unfortunate development but it seems that no amount of feedback is going to change their minds

True, but that doesn't justify all the expensive items we got after lazy days, a tent for 90 candles, a cape for 180 and so on. It's great they're trying it now but I do wonder, what's going to happen next year? Will we be able to obtain more tickets for the new items? Will this years items cost candles / hearts instead? This new currency is just going to become its own problem next year

I don't see how the event tickets will be problematic next year? Tgc are gonna schedule events long enough with enough tickets daily for everyone to obtain new items without having to collect all tickets, so regardless of the price for next items we'll still be able to get them

That's also if they continue with event tickets, they may try something else by then who knows

Yes the amount of IAPs is insane for days of mischief 😭 I'd be curious to see how they're going to address that because obviously, if you're removing IAPs people will be upset. So..

I doubt that tbh, the cape costs 104 and we got 2 weeks.. If another item gets added for over 100 event currency them how would you obtain them? You can't stretch out events to last for a month or longer. You'd need more tickets, or to be able to buy the this year's cape with a different currency instead

It's never been explicitly expressed yet, so I don't know if returning items from this year will be for tickets next year, but I would presume they'll come back for candles so that there doesn't end up being a massive pile up of ticket costs like there has been with candles all this time

But the longer sky runs, the more tickets that's gonna be.. Imagine being able to collect over 50 tickets at some point, that's gonna get very cluttered and probably also overwhelming for new players

they just set the item cost + ticket collection amount so people will log in enough days to get items
