The tickets are a brand new feature. The new players won't get enough to buy the cape. It's unfortunate. I'm missing 4 tickets daily because the one we get from the daily rainbow crashes my app every time.

We also had two short runs of this event before and some people got tickets from it.

get a friend to unlock piggyback with them, then have them hold a white candle out while you're carrying them! at that point you only have to worry about finding ur way thru the maze and avoiding the squirmies, which can easily be done with a map

the only one I found "easier" on mobile was water trial and that's only because my fps was lower so it helped out a lot when it came to literally being submerged in the water and not dying 😭😭😭

If you read a few posts above your question, Cy has your answer: there's currently 12 tickets per day available.
4 bubbles scattered in Oreo's Playground, 1 bubble worth 4 tickets after completing the rainbow puzzle, and 1 bubble worth 4 tickets by the daily rainbow quest location.

There's a guaranteed 4 bubbles in the event area that will always be on surface level (none will be in the WL cave)
Then finish the colour puzzle with others for 4 more tickets with the singular big bubble that appears

If you don't work for TGC then it's best to not throw around assumptions for how the company runs itself internally.
The way I see it is that the art direction for sky always wants to integrate outside influences into the game more seamlessly so they feel part of the worldbuilding.

A great example is how they transformed the originally colourful TLP characters into the monotone style they became, as well as the very simplified aesthetic appearance of aurora's outfits for the cure for me + ultimate pants.
It is a deliberate art design choice to make the appearances become simplified so they still read as "sky"

Surely TGC folks don't need us to remind them most players probably do not read the blog and the currency must be obviously recognizable to them too, right??

I mean, the currency looking different was cool when I saw it in beta but reading this just now made me think: what if people have difficulty recognizing it?

Doing my best not to spread any confusion, but from what I understood of the blogpost the event currency will be used specifically for new items each event - those items will then return the next again year for those who missed them, if tickets will only be used for the new items each year then those repeat items have to return for candles/hearts

Discovery I just made using yeti goggles in rainbow area - my phone didn't heat up as quickly with the bloom reduced... Thus my new hypothesis is this

Reducing bloom overall and/or giving an in setting slider/toggle isn't just good for aiding those with photosensitivity, it also benefits the longevity of device batteries and the device as a whole due to reduced heat generation via unnecessary display brightness

Of course, I only noticed this with my pixel 6a. Will try to remember to compare with my velvet and my p20 pro another time

you are not really supposed to buy tickets with candles; you're supposed to get tickets by playing in the event, during which you can get ~12/day. if for some reason you miss a day you could catch up a bit with candles but you're really not supposed to use them for the event items

Shards are there to, you don't need to go to Eden to get AC. Which usually give 2 to 3 candles and that is enough to buy a pack of tickets if you need them. Those tickets aren't meant to be bought constantly.

ac require more work, and making the additional, not required tickets, that will go poof once the event is over, cost some of that eden money would instead encourage you to engage with the event more, which is also the point of this whole thing

I was a new player once i candle ran daily and supported TGC since the end of 2019 seeing the work i have done and money I’ve spent become useless feels like ive wasted time.

And before you say “friendship” they could easily drop the costs of friend upgrades too instead of making a single upgrade 22 candles.

Last few days (including bugged quest ticket) we could get 12 normally and extra 4 on one day.

It would take players 12 days getting 12 a day to get the new cape. Thats more than 1/2 the event

event engagement seems to be a big thing with tickets, so wouldn't it make more sense that they want us to be there for most of it?

It feels extremely dishonest when they say we want to help and then give us 100+ ticket cosmetics when there is no inflation as an excuse.

This was the same feeling some had during shattering they gave us shards so eden could be less of a grind then gave us super expensive elder masks.

I'm really happy for new players (and not new players who don't have time to candle run) and I think event tickets are a nice first solution
but overall it's kind of superficial. like if only new items will cost event tickets, and return as regular currency cosmetics in the next year, then the amount of candle/hearts event cosmetics still increases every year. and the problem with those is that they're just too expensive (175 candle capes, 100 candle props, ...)

I actually like the ticket system. It is very hard to grind for 20 candles especially if we are low on chevrons, so I think having these tickets to pick up is way easier than doing CR for 2.5 hours every day and try to balance the spending between base constellation, TS, friendship tree, and future events

The mention of having to play in the same proportion as a season, meaning we can probably miss around 3-5 days of an event is actually not so bad, considering the few minutes we have to come online to collect the tickets.
I think when the event hits live, there will be all sort of guides or infographics posted daily for all the ticket locations, so it’ll help save time at the very least

So having only completed the days of color event once, I think one advantage of the ticket system is that it means there will be more players every day trying complete the 8-player activity, meaning on average less waiting around. If people with a big candle stash could just buy the cape on day one, then there would be a smaller pool of people trying to complete that activity each day.

people are making others getting a cosmetics maybe 2 weeks earlier sound like a much bigger problem than it actually is. while ignoring some other, bigger currency problems
the problem was never that older players get cosmetics faster, the problem was that new players couldn't get cosmetics at all because of how expensive they are. and when it comes to returning event cosmetics, this problem hasn't been fixed

The exact reason we end up on the debate for ultimate gifts coming back because people desire them and feel upset they cant have them.

The feeling of wanting isn’t invalid but someone having an item you don’t should not ruin the game for you. Especially if you can earn it yourself.

having the tickets cost AC also means people can’t just oneshot buy the stuff in one go, and it’s a limiting factor because AC is a smaller finite amount of currency you can get by doing eden + shards

also really the only people who collect AC are those who enjoy it

Tickets won’t collide with candles, which will make it easier for newer players and present players to save for ts and constellations. It’s like saving 50 candles for a ts but you have to also spend for an event item.

tbh even after buying out the AC tickets you only get 5 so like
if you think it’s not worth it you can totally just skip but I think it’s great as an extra buffer if you’re one of those people who are missing a 🤏🏼 to be able to get an item
