Another problem I noticed is that skykids aren’t looking at each other. Their heads remain in the same position and aren’t paying attention to their friends. It’s really frustrating. Looks unnatural. Never realized how much it mattered for your skykid to look at everybody

After this cat hair fiasco we still need to kick up a fuss about the mask and especially the aurora IAPs, I reckon
I fear for them once they hit live. £20 or more a piece, and they are many a piece.

Since everyone was so into cat hair, maybe cat hair should be f2p. People are also very into yeti’s pants and not much into previous halloween pants. How about making another fur pants? That way newbie can have an idea of Yeti’s pants.

Bonus: remember the hair from china’s server(the one with hat) How about making a female version of which (with hat, it might match with witch hat as well) and a non-hat version of the original hair. It might better than the new Aurora’s hair.

read if you're wanting to be one. The invite waves are mostly random and happen without a warning, it's whenever they need new testers. You need a role to access the channel where the invites happen (seems you already have them)

I wanna share my opinion a little -
Like I've seen most content creator that reviewing the ||aurora|| cosmetics are mostly capeless or using the little prince scarf while wearing the ||aurora|| pants. And i think the pants are all beautiful and have so many details - example like the arm tattoos on it. But when i saw the pants with normal capes, it hides most of the detail of the pants :(( which is very unfortunate. From what i see this also happened to the season of flight pants.
I really wish they can release more similar concept like the little prince scarf or mellow musician cape so we can show how georgous the details of the pants are :<

If you look at the only cape currently available with the season in beta (there will be several more, but no models yet) it's kinda similar. It's tiny, see through butterfly wings, so it wouldn't take attention from the pants

No. I think if the hair like witch or cat is famous for there black hat or ear, tgc should make a free hat like last year spell and can be bought by candle, and the cat ears too. We can use them ussually because we love another character too. The cat hair still will go with the cat pack , and the free ear of cat will be wear with other hair. I cant immagine how another kid look like with cat ears . The cat ears can be different color like black purple or white orange color. And orther kid will worship the real cat . Honestly I relate most of the problem that I have with TGC...
From the iOS treatment vs Android + Switch, listening players, communication.

I don't wanna be hypocrite here. I used to be very kind too in the pas towards TGC until the last straw that makes me turn my kindness away from them during the season of abyss. My friends left because of the fatal bug and not being compensated too. I was very upset with that plus with their descisions lately too increasing prices IGC like days of bloom's sakura cape and the ratio of IAP and IGC which IAP has more than IGC.

I feel really hurt with TGC's action lately...

This message will have a chance to get removed too because I won't be kind here.

In the past I still tolerate that they werr an indie company so I was still kind to them. Until the abyss, I started to be a bit harsher to them because of them ignoring our complains especially android and switch.

We can send feedback in game and I doubt they will read it. In here too I feel like in this server I have to be very kind to them and harsh criticism is not allowed. Honestly if we be kind to them they still won't listen until we be a bit harsher... then there will be someone in this server be angry that we are being ungrateful, spoilt or maybe disrespectful while the truth is that TGC had done that to us too in the past. It's been dissapointing lately for me and the docs really speaks my issue with TGC although I rarely appear in this server...

I'm simply here to say about the cat hair I was really excited for it when it only costs candles but now, I'm really upset with the decision TGC made,I mean, there are literally no good items as a free one,just because the popularity of the cat hair increases doesn't mean it should be an IAP,and I'm not only saying about the cat hair I meant every good items in sky.If TGC keeps on like this then it will result players into NOT playing often or even worse*,not playing at all*.I'm gonna be honest but my respect for TGC went down in an instant,in my words it kinda bugs me when the more bigger,nicer item have become IAP.And the TGC management is making most of the people in sky worried, avoiding unfixed problems.Not everyone can work 24/7 hour a day and get pocket money to purchase IAP items.Almost every item in SOA isn't available or free,i had many fun plans when the cat hair is announced but my plans immediately got crushed by TGC's honestly,I wish that TGC would make this game a little BIT more fairer to all players,if not then sky's popularity will go down in instant,TGC is just..-getting TOO WAY REPETITIVE right now, I'm desperate for the company to change their minds.I know they will ignore this message,just like they always do, avoiding problems is their favourite hobby,change my mind.

Nobody knows, the amount of active beta players needs to fall below a certain threshold for a new wave to be released. We don't know how close or not we are to that point, so there's really no telling when a new wave will be released

I think people in their excitement of the new season and upcoming events sometime forget that this is beta. Items can and will be moved around from iGC to iAP. This is normal it’s beta and things get put in the wrong places. Sometimes an items look will change to. But this again it’s normal as this is beta. Try not to think that what you see here will make it into the live game in the format or style in which you first saw it. All is subject to change. Sometimes that cool item or plot line you really liked just doesn’t make it. But that’s the nature of beta.

Look I get tgc said this was some communication mistake between devs and that cat hair was always meant to be IAP, but thats not what this is about.

It's about how players perceive it. Everyone got all excited when they saw cat hair being free. The next day it got turned into an IAP. And it looks like (again it doesn't matter if this is the truth or not, this is how players see it) tgc decided to capitalise on that excitement. That's what sparked this anger, bundled with months of frustration coming out too. Tgc needs to understand this is how we feel and act accordingly, or I'm afraid they're digging their own grave here.

Apparently they weren't satisfied with the first design and are going to redesign it, but honestly they could've just kept the old design until they finished a new design. Now they make it look like f2ps aren't worthy of pretty looking items. Really, I'll never understand why they had to downgrade in order to redesign it.. Makes no sense.

The betas purpose is to give feedback, im not in the beta but i always look for updates. TGC had beta as a means for feedback from what they add. They knew about the hype and made excuses and changed it over night. Even if the beta community is small its supposed to give feedback and tgc are ment to improve from it. They made a massive mistake and upset alot of players. The main thing is that they heard us complaining about what they did. I dont know what they will do. But they have to do something because its never fair on those who cant afford items. Especially since alot of people are students who cant afford prices like: hairpin for £200. I think the reason why a lot of people keep coming back to sky is the limited availability of most cosmetics. Our good friend FOMO. To remove that aspect would make their playerbase dwindle because they wouldn't be pressured as bad to grind for candles or do dailies. It's predatory, but unfortunately what they built their game loop on.

honestly I'd still be fine if only new events were added to the game and it was meaningful but genuinely part of the joy of playing is when a friend gets a new item or figures out a funny glitch with a prop, and some of those aren't obtainable at all unless it were available during an event or season.

I know this would never happen but something that would be a really nice addition is a daily point system that if you log in and complete all tasks daily you earn a stamp on a loyalty card and if you collect enough loyalty cards select IAPs can be purchased with them.

Maybe not bundles since they would probably be ludicrously priced but all single items would be available for 10-20 of these completed weekly cards

so its still something that you have to earn so people who buy iap would not feel their money is valueless but those who cant buy iap have a chance. It would encourage all players to play daily too outside of just fomo.

how to compensate? give a lot of candles/season candles and hearts/ascended candles, and let the player choose. aka, 2x the item's price in candle shop candles, then rounded to the highest number so its even. ex. if the 15 candle pack was 16 candles, you'd times it by 2 (32), then round it to the highest number it can go to (40). if it's close to a multiple of 50, change it to that 50. so, our parenthesed' number goes from 32 to 50.

Yeah grinding with friends is more fun than alone, but the underlying issue is still there, you have to grind if you wanna get anything, playing the game casually doesnt cut it anymore because of TS and rising prices.

HOWEVER, and I am walking some gray area here, I do get why most people don't have the time to grind and prices being really high creates burn out. Yeah, I agree with you. I really wanted scolding students cape but wasn’t able to get enough candles in time, so now it could be a couple of months, or a couple of years until it returns! I tried grinding every day but I got really burnt out and still can’t enjoy the game like I used to. This would easily be fixed if you could purchase any cosmetic whenever you want, but the way it is now people can just buy the extra candles they need so they don’t feel left out, however I doubt tgc will change this as I wouldn’t be surprised if it made them quite a lot of money. Sky has really just become a grinding game.

It depends. You will likely be unable to participate in Beta if you get banned from it, and it may affect your live account if the same account is used for Beta. Otherwise if your live account used another account, nothing may happen. Though still, don’t hack in beta or live.

Simply put, if your account gets banned, you'll know. As far as it affecting your live account too, we don't know the answer. But you can search "Sky children of the light banned" on Google Images and you may see what it looks like from a banned player's perspective. Simply put, don't cheat and you will be fine.

What is the solution then?

Not everything can be entirely free. For the ts specifically you either have to shell out real money to get a seasonal pass and earn the items that way or wait and spend your time farming for candles. The pay out of time vs money is equal in my opinion. TGC have to earn money one way or another, and no matter how many systems they come up with to make candle farming a little more easier there will always be players that complain….

More free items would just mean that costs would have to be paid off by other means, in the form of ADs or by even making sky a paid app.

For what it’s worth i think f2p players actually get a good deal out of this game… and lets be 100 percent honest here NO GAMES are geared towards f2ps it’s just how the market works

Do add up to the TS thing, the TS arent really getting more expensive. Its a small increase on most of the cases, since the first ones come during a time where we couldnt farm more than 17 candles or something, and that some of them have 4 items, most of travelling spirits do go over 100 candles since forever.
The thing that really hits the game economy is the event items, where some dont have an explanation for their expensive prices

I know that they have to market their game somehow, but theres times where you have to take a step back and realise that maybe they're going a little overboard lately. I think there has to be a balance between attainable and unreasonable, 90 candles for a camping tent that basically does nothing is unreasonable. Yes, we can get more candles now that the map is bigger and the daily cap is around 20, but the amount of time players must spend grinding to reach that cap is usually around an hour and a half to two (depending on how fas you are), thats time that could be spent doing other things in the game, as, at the end of the day, sky is marketed as a social casual game. But at the state the game is right now, playing casually you could maybe get one item from each TS. Most of my friends have quit sky because the daily grind got to their mental health, and i believe that if there was a way to mitigate FOMO, prices could be as expensive as they wanted to, but since you dont know if the next TS will come back in a month or a year, it creates this situation where the player is cornered to grind "just in case" and creates burnout.

Spending an hour and a half grinding for candles is the exact reason why the candle chevron system was first implemented, incentivising players to spend less time in the game farming.. you talk about socialising but there are also areas like the campfire in forest or the hot springs in valley which enable you to passively earn income.

The pressure that players have is caused by the players themselves imo… i can farm 10-11 candles a day just from prairie and forest alone. I have two weeks before i have to purchased a ts tree. I have the potential to earn 140 candles from 2 weeks of farming 30 minutes a day… again if you don’t like the prices then simply don’t buy the items.. use your currency as your voting power if less people spend in game currency or their real money on an item the team will learn to waiver their prices in the future

If it was IAP i get the "using your currency as voting power" but by me literally not buying with IGC things i dont agree pricing with doesnt change anything... I didnt buy the camping tent, but it doesnt make a dent to TGC's wallet to do so and doesnt work as a "protest" or a way to voice my distaste. Also i used to be a f2p (bc economic reasons) back then, i took a hiatus from the game from burnout and now i wanted to come back and actually intend use my wallet in this game, turns out most of the IAP are ridiculously priced, so no, i wont be buying anything besides maybe the season pass if i fancy the cosmetics. I do agree grinding has been made a little bit easier and there are different ways to do so now, but the underlying issue is still there, the way things keep coming and coming at you in this game exacerbates the "now or never" mentality createed by the FOMO, people feel obligated to farm because if they dont, they dont get the cool things. also, i just wanna say, the afk area, you cant be afk in it. you either needa have smth (like a controller) constantly moving, OR a bug. and not everyone has 30 minutes in a day, most players cant even spend 10 minutes cause theyve got busy lives. the game favors those who spend HOURS in the game and do daily runs every single day. cosmetics are a huge part of the game, it already sucks that most of the cool ones are locked behind a paywall (ie, the whole incident that happened earlier last week) and now theyre also locked behind steep igc prices. its not even just ts, its also eden things and friendship trees. theyre making it more expensive on purpose and thats causing 1) people to quit the game and 2) not enjoy it. you have to think about "do i really want this cosmetic, or should i wait and see if theres a better one next week" and have to literally treat your candles like you do with youre money, giving in more pressure when most people want to play sky to relieve pressure. also, you pay 10 dollars for a season and youre not even guaranteed to get the ult reward, the one thing most people buy the pass for, putting on more pressure to get on everyday, do the dailies, worry about "will i finish it in time" if you miss a few days of the game. its not fair to those who spend money on the season, and its not fair to those who dont have the time or mental stability to get on daily.

I think for the FOMO side of things, spacing out the seasons and events may help. I'm probably not the most knowledgeable on this topic because I'm personally used to missing out on things due to lack of money/igc since I don't really get devoted to games, but I think a big part of why grinding everyday is a lot for people is due to the fact that we often have to prepare for multiple items at once, and though knowing that usually these items will come back in one way or another (ts/repeated events) eases MY fomo, I still think that having more time between these things could help with the tension and give more time to players as well. Though pricings are still obviously a big part of this issue!

Im sorry if im coming off as abrasive but the "nobody is forcing you to play" argument undermines basic human behaviour, we are wired to want things and to work hard to get them. Thats also... part of most games, the work=reward dynamic is not an uncommon one, but since sky (talking abt everyhting besides comsetics here) doesnt have a clear set goal/reward, we basically make our own, kinda like in minecraft. For lots of people the goal is to 100% (completionists) others just wanna look cool, others just wanna hang with friends, others just wanna play instruments, and all of these ways of playing the game are completely valid. Just because you dont feel the pressure to get these items it doesnt mean lots of other players do. I say all of this coming back from a almost year and a half long hiatus of being SO burnt out that i didnt enjoy playing anymore.

With the fomo issue, that coupled with burnout is what made me take a six month break with no intention of returning at the time. It's also why alot of my friends don't play anymore But I think it would help if ts and event spirits had their total candle cost capped at 100-150 and their heart cost capped at 10, that way everyone could afford them. I also like the idea I've heard of 2 ts spirits appearing, with the player having to chose one to interact with.

The other idea to tackle fomo would be to bring back original ults via seasonal TS completion and an IAP the same cost as a pass once the collection has been completed, giving the player the seasonal hearts needed to buy the ult/s and also giving them a silver version of that season's pendant to mark their hard work.

That way it would enable Tgc to lower the volume and cost of expensive event iaps and make more igcs per event, seeing as the ult revenue would make up for it and would address the fomo

I think managing how much time we sent on sky changes from person to person, and I'm saying this from my own experience, but as for me, I know there's a lot of things coming and not a lot of time, but as for me, I've managed to still get everything and sky is my escape as well, I'd say like focusing on one aspect is what helps (?
For example for me is, sometimes Cr, sometimes chill Cr, friends or just exploring, but like I get people can get tired or frustrated with the dates

I think perhaps lowering the candle pricing a bit would be nice, since we're limited to 20 a day, at that, if you actually cr a ton for that. So prolly 15 to get all 3 red arrows gone.

I think it would be more accurate to compare it to a dressing game and not a shooter, as the cosmetics are a large part of the game. There isn't much to do after you've explored other than collect candles and get cosmetics. Yeah, I kind of always disliked how the red candles IGC normalized the sky kids' trip to Eden. After a while it's just another map you have to tire yourself out grinding. But it was supposed to be more meaningful besides monetary gain

As someone who’s in professional work position, I would have to say managing time to play Sky is the key.
I would usually start my cr from geyser, sanctuary, windpaths,cavern area, gramma, one of section of forest, turtle then the dailies realm and 4 candle cakes realm.
Allocating at least 1 hour straight to cr everyday (usually after work around 7-8Pm depending on the geyser start time)
And of course, daily grinding isn’t necessary but after i learn this routine, i no longer have to purchase candles pack.
Plus we need to understand, if you don’t have enough candles, don’t purchase anything in the TS tree. I saw most players do this and tbh for what? I’m also cosmetics collector but I’m selective in collecting. I don’t even upgrade every emotes if I think it’s unnecessary but these are just my conclusions and experiences from what i learned so far.

I’ve wondered for a long time why they didn’t make an area specifically for hide & seek. A place where spirits come and hang out that’s filled with nooks and crannies and little games to have fun with friends in. Maybe a bubble zone where you can bounce on or go inside of bubbles. Races that you can do with friends (in the sky and on land). I think that it could be a lot of fun, but maybe I’m asking for too much.

it basically gives the game a loop of replayability. Once the players finish main story (Eden), the cosmetics gives em a goal since it provides another form of expression, and seasons and ts gives em something to look forward to, as well as share this sentiment with their friends.
Removing the importance of cosmetics at this stage is detrimental to the well-being of the game since they hold so much value now

i personally can't say, but it does feel like that. when i first joined sky, the umbrella and guitar spirits came in quick succession, one right after the other, i believe, and it was also during the days of mischief event (way back in 2020 ). another time i can think of an example is that same year during days of feast, they brought back the fluffy rhythm pants from the welcome trouper. and of course juggler, crab call, and fire prophet are pretty good examples as well.

tgc has of course promised that the ts selections are randomized, but it is a bit strange that all of these fall right into the same timing as well-loved, extremely popular events that also take a lot of candles and hearts.

Something that would make more sense to me is that yes, it's randomised. But whenever a ts appears, the chance of them appearing is drastically reduced for the next ts draw (on a numbers basis). And the longer a ts hasn't appeared for, the numbers perhaps increase? I also believe that ts spirits dramatically increase in the chance of appearing once a year has passed after their season, but that's just my theory

It was not "accidental," but cat hair had been planned to be IAP already. The build was just an old build that they sent out anyway.
The changes just hadn't made it to the build & there was no clarification of this until after the backlash
