The book is called the Art of Journey. I don’t think it’s being sold anywhere anymore. Your only option would be to buy it second-hand (used, there are some offers on Amazon for example), but keep in mind it’s gotten very, very pricey (hundreds of dollars from what I’ve seen).

iOS is the worst version, no doubt, but it is playable. It also depends on your device for sure, though.

Mm, elaborating on what I mean by “the worst version”: the graphics are way worse in comparison with the others, and I experienced regular game freezes that forced me to restart on iPad Pro 12.9. The controls are pretty similar to Sky’s. If you have a choice, go for another port, but if not, Journey is absolutely worth playing, so perhaps give it a try!

Yes! What I meant by “restart” was restarting the app; I can still continue from whenever the game last saved my progress. Which isn’t the worst thing in the world, except it does mean that you have to leave your companion and will most likely not meet them again. I was unfortunate enough it prevented me from ever finishing the game with another traveler

Sooort of! Journey is multiplayer so you can meet others, but only one player at a time, there’s no chat, and you cannot add anybody to friends. I feel like in order to get the full experience it’s best to find another traveler, though, since a lot of care was put into designing players’ interactions ^^

I’ll have to re-listen to the orchestral version of Journey’s OST to form an opinion, but after giving it a listen (I’m about to finish the album rn, very curious to hear my fav tracks which are the last two ) I still doubt it’ll be able to beat the original version for me. Although I’ll definitely have it on repeat for a long time, it’s super interesting to hear it being played by an actual orchestra and reimagined as well!

Just watched some footage of Cloud, and the landscape is quite similar indeed! That’s really cool to know, thanks for brining it to my attention! I like how the concept of those two are similar too - Cloud is about a child daydreaming, escaping from their gloomy reality iirc, and Sanctuary’s purpose, if memory serves, was quite similar, especially since it came out when so many people were struggling because of the pandemic, not being able to leave much and such. An “escape” from reality of sorts, more so than the other seasons.

Hey folks! Just recently got myself an Xbox Series S and paired the controller with my iPad Pro, which I have the iOS version of Journey on and found out the controller actually works with the game. Totally unexpected, but if you have an Xbox with Bluetooth pairing, give it a go if you have Journey… 👀

you can only play the proof of concept unless you consider running a console on pc, search for flowing, you might want to be sure of mirrors or internet archive. flow retail is available on ps3, psp, psvita, ps4

psp is the inferior version with 30 fps and smaller areas

If you have these games on steam you can play remotely. Or ask friend to borrow u virtually their pc which will stream into ur phone. Its done by app named Steam Link (search appStore or PlayStore) but make sure you lower yor pc screen resolution in case stream and phone cant stand 4K (or less ;D i use 720p for phones or 480p if older)

It features Nascence, and parts of The Call, Threshold, Road of Trials, Apotheosis and then I Was Born For This (most of this selection of tracks also are something I can connect to more personally since I can play bits of them on piano, I do have the piano book)

In I Was Born For This, I also made the vocals in Japanese louder because the instrumental backing seems to sometimes drown it a bit too much, and also it’s my favourite part to sing along to 😆

But Journey soundtrack seems to definitely be a rich source of inspiration, I think this is the third or fourth kind of album project that Austin Wintory has done with it — Woven Variations (medley featuring Tina Guo), Transfiguration (piano), Traveler (orchestral)

*Pops out of the ground* Ah, hewwo. I'm uh, *cough* just kind of been wanting to uh, talk about Journey a bit. It was one of the first community fandoms I got into in around 2014. Imagine a two-hour long game about a silent character that only talks in chirps and song still managing to make a fandom.

I loved discussing all the lore around it with a few other people, because compared to Sky with all these lush grash, beautiful trees, flora and fauna, Journey was basically sand sand, more sand. Sand is everywhere. It feels more like you woke up in pretty much the worst possible time. A great civilization fallen, only what remained where those fortunate enough to hide from whatever happened, or sturdy enough to. And yet it felt charming, because you're a nameless quirky creature fumbling about, learning the history and regrets of these regally tall spirits that speak to you in memories.

I just fell in love in this game so much, compared to most games back then, this was a nice breath of fresh air, in all it's dusty sandy glory. I was so into it that I even bought the book. The early concept arts of the traveler is so much fun to look at. The first guy was... Blocky. I think the character's name was "Buddy"?

Depends on your device. Older ones tend to be a bit more touchy (or rather toasty) with certain newer games. I don’t have it on mobile since I run it on pc, but I’d recommend checking your system reqs and lowering graphics a bit if it’s older

Idk for sure but since you got steam, it should. Steam should have a little info box on the game’s page that tells you if your device is compatible. I guess mobile games weren't much of a thing back then, and mobile games tend to fair better if it's MMO. Plus tgc won't make much of a profit with a game that's only 2 hours long and doesn't provide any sort of microtransactions.

Yes, they are stated as publishers for PC and iOS next to Sony, according to Wikipedia. Not sure how the rights are distributed; all I know is that those were made for Sony originally, and in any case - TGC doesn’t have much, if anything, to do with making ports of their older games.

I don't know the white scarf from journey other than you get it when collecting all the symbols or something along those lines, but as far as I know, all cosmetics in Sky can be bought with candles, hearts, or real money, and are purely cosmetic, thus don't offer any changed functionality. ^ What Jenna said. I’m just gonna add that the “secret tokens” are like stars (/winged light/shiny boys) in Sky, but -unlike Journey- you don’t get anything special for collecting all of them. It’s just that the more of them you collect, the more flaps you get (=the longer you can fly; not sure how much of a beginner you are!). It’s much easier to recharge your energy in Sky than in Journey, so I feel like a cape that would automatically recharge wouldn’t really be as precious as the white scarf anyways!

I still wonder how I would emotionally react to the story of Journey if I hadn’t already known the story of Sky. I feel like it took away from the experience slightly, although I still love Journey very much regardless.

Me originally being a journey player, Sky felt like a huge step-up experience-wise. But the two games makes you feel two separate things. Sky is exciting and expressive, while Journey feels lonely yet enlightening. You tend to dwell on your own thoughts with nobody to interrupt you.
And no offense to Sky, I love both games with their own unique ways, but I prefer Journey credits song more :'3 ||Even the song title "I was born for this" just hits your existensial thoughts so much. You were born to experience what the world can offer, both joy and suffering.||

I'm pretty glad that there's expressions on Sky compared to Journey. The most I can do to say thank you to someone is spastically move while chirping madly then faceplant on the ground. I have social anxiety so I tend to just run away from people to save myself from interactions x_x

Sky is definitely way more lighthearted, which has its pros and cons, I guess. I think it would be hard for me to judge the way Sky’s story was delivered after years of playing it daily, but I do lean more towards Journey. I was super impressed after playing it for the first time, and I still feel like it’s more of a nearly spiritual experience than Sky ever was for me. Even though I still love Sky for what it is, and for all the beautiful memories it’s been allowing me to make with others! ^^

I’ve not played it, and I want to, I feel like it would be fun since I only got some of the gameplay spoiled for me (got the ending spoiled though) and none of the secrets, I just wanted your opinion on the matter

depends if you like atmosphere, some people like to replay the game often just to explore at look at the environment
but if you get bored easily without a story I wouldn't recommend because like some have said, this game is heavily reflective and doesn't have much content (especially since its spoiled for you)
