Personally I love the send a gift quest when I need hearts. I’ll send as many hearts to friends as I can afford through the constellation and usually get gifts back from a lot of them. And because I do this almost every time this is a quest, it’s gotten to where a bunch of my friends go ahead and send me one before I even wake up when this quest shows up. I had like 5 waiting for me already this am, so I gave hearts back to them and to maybe 5 other friends, some of whom have already given back since then.

I sometimes just drop hearts on random friends in the constellation at other times, but I feel like the quest gives me cover (so they aren’t wondering why I’m randomly giving them a gift) and creates less pressure for them to give back, though ironically also seems to increase the likelihood that they do.

As io said we aren't Devs and it's best to bug report. If you don't want to miss the seasonal candles, what I would try to do is complete the quests anyway, you can search the quests in #seasons-events-chat as the guides are posted right after reset daily. Then open the quests again and see if you can claim the candles^^
