This quest was fun! If not a little frustrating and an occasion where I absolutely believe player collision should be turned off due to what I can only describe as tight rope walking across branches with more than eager players wanting to move along way too quickly.

It's really so hard to play for me, so many chirps so many players and i fail to see any advantages of so many players. It made sense for aurora concert, but this is just distracting.

nayyy I like the crowd version more, solo moments are boring this season, that's what I experienced at the start of this season before starting the first quest where isle is just empty
It can be overwhelming with that much amount of people around I do agree on that but there is a reason for them to do so, although they haven't stated anywhere yet as of why
12 seasons of solo quest, it's time for some change, you can have your own opinion, disagree, be dissatisfied but do know that to express your opinion in #live-feedback , sitting here talking won't do any better

I prefer solo events because ones like this put a massive strain on the server. I can't do the quest and must wait for either a patch or it to work in 3 days or so.

First time I did the quest, it for some reason didn't give me "Complete" message at the end after the cut scene so I made a logical conclusion that it was probably because I only managed to fill like 10% of the counter thing. This made me feel really frustrated because getting even that much had been really hard and collecting everything felt like an impossible goal.

After people told me picking up only one piece should be enough I reported it as a bug and tried again. Thankfully it completed after my second try even if I managed to get only few pieces this time.

But overall what I got from this quest was frustration and the depressig feeling of being left behind to watch others go ahead while darkness closes in around me

I'll be honest, I enjoyed this quest despite the frustrations. It's a cool quest and I like seeing all the goobers everywhere And my Sky kid looks adorable in the quest outfit

I do agree, though, that it's hard to pick up some of the items, especially when the mask's protective area gets so small. But it's especially hard with drifting joysticks (can't pick up the damn trash cuz my skid doesn't even move towards it unless I move my joystick slightly)

I couldn’t see the WL itself, but I could see the edge of its halo somewhere above me once I entered night in the forest brook, but it was in the initial cutscene. Then the ‘tap on the winged light’ appeared down the bottom of my screen happened like it always does when there’s one near. So I tapped it, and apparently it worked and was added to my wings
It was so fast and barely visible, so it would have been incredibly easy to miss if it isn’t a bug but it feels like a bug

This second quest didn't really need anyone else though, I think you could pick up the stuff one your own. Yeah I made the same mistake doing those spirits after the first quest, it was a nightmare, and probably the worse experience I've had in this game

After redoing the second quest, I feel like I’m laboriously spackling the thematic connection together but it still doesn’t quite click for me. Reliance: who/what ate we relying on? Not ourselves, bc by ourselves we get lost in the dark. Not really each other; afaik we can’t individually help other players and if anything we’re getting in each others’ way. Not the mask exactly, bc ok if we get lost, we get plopped ahead for it to find us again but it does things like weave through plant mazes and shrink its sphere down to almost nothing in the first place.

The setup def’ly suggests we’re supposed to think of this quest like being part of a herd of deer/goat-type creatures who look out for each other, but it does not seem to actually work that way

Well I picked up one thing before the quest even started, then maybe picked up a couple more during it, but everyone else was getting there before me. The mask would leave me behind in the dark and I had to wait for it to catch up. This happened 3 times, then it said I completed it. The progress meter didn't even fill up, maybe I did like 3%

I’m not a big fan of TGC putting random goat filler strangers when it’s already so crowded to even stay in the mask circle to not get pushed out and sit shivering in the cold before the group comes swing by again. There’s literally no time to pick the trash

imo, large filler crowds fits concepts like season of aurora where you’re waiting for a concert to happen and you can interact with others while waiting in a LARGER space.

Yes. The mass of people aren't picking up litter, they're trying to preceed the mask. So each time you try to pick up litter you lose the crowd and have to wait for them. The design of the quest is faulty.

On the plus side, I have discovered that it's possible to pick up the winged lights in the night-time desert, which is a nice change.

For anybody having issues seeing because of other players, try zooming out a little bit (on PS it's down on the D-pad, Switch is probably similar, Mobile is "pinch" out with two fingers). It makes your character smaller, but it could give you a better view of everything.

I saw the crowd was going to be an issue when in the little pre-quest lobby, waiting for it to start, and zooming out there helped a lot. It's still possible to lose yourself, but having a bird's eye view can make it easier to make sense of the chaos.

Passage of Reliance was very interesting! I enjoyed the unsettling vibe and huddling together to stay within the light. I made some friends with the server I was in and even ended up sticking together afterwards to turn in the quest

Although I did have trouble seeing myself at times with so many fluffy sheep crowding the screen🐏

I just finished it, and I like the idea of a group quest and I loved the forest at night, but man... "getting lost" really bummed me out. Being frozen in place without knowing what to do was a little panic inducing, and not in a fun way.

Yeah... I got astray a lot because I thought you HAD to pick up the tools on the ground to finish the quest.

I like the general idea of doing season quests in a group (and that if no one shows up within the time limit, the quest starts anyway). But preferably with the normal 8 people/server limit.

it’s so fun and exciting by balancing following the mask and collecting items. the blobs are cute and the costume makes me feel like both an apprentice and a fledgling.
but the challenge of course is a double edged sword. so yes i had the issue of getting lost too and the mask’s route feels unpredictable. the obstacles in nature like spiky plants are sometimes too big to see the mask and for me to traverse. also i wish it takes less time to bend down and pick up items.

Oh yes, I could have done without some of the obstacles, just to even out the play field a little. I had to stop picking up tools at the end, because it just wasn't worth it.

ive noticed its a mixed bag sometimes it does and sometimes it doesnt. when you or another player pick up an item and if you try to pick up an item and another player manges to pick it up faster than you. then you end up stuck in the animation of trying to pick it up until you finally mange to break free or get lost from the light getting too far away

i think the timed aspect can stifle out player cooperation (because it places one player itself at risk) so tgc should be generous with it.

if sky is about player cooperation tgc needs to look at behavioural and psychological influences on cooperation. and also when resource is limited (which includes time) you cant guarantee everyone to be compassionate with each other. be too challenging about it & it turns competitive instead

It didn't necessarily feel competitive to me. Or at least, I never felt like I was trying to compete with other players - we were all just trying to survive together The speed of the mask and the number of sheep was a bit much, though, I agree. It made it hard to keep track of my character.
(Also remember that you should absolutely post your thoughts in #live-feedback to let the devs know!! They can still make changes to improve the experience of the quest )

To add on to the bit about the mask feeling too fast... I almost felt compelled to go out into the darkness ahead of the mask to grab an item, hoping the mask would reach me or I could reach the mask before I was lost. The mask moved way too fast to do any real cleanup if I didn't risk the darkness. If that's the point, then okay, but it didn't feel like that was the point in all the previews.

I know that Sky is a game that's meant to largely have silent storytelling, and doesn't hand-hold players, but TGC really needs to work on providing better/clearer in-game guidance It's not a good sign when so many players are confused and unsure of what to do, even when they're paying attention.

Very much this. Even before the quest started (in the waiting room) we were several regular players on the same server (non sheep), but during the waiting period, 2-3 of them did the emote and eventually just left. It was only me and 1 more person left when the countdown reached 0 (and the sheep), and we were both desperately trying to pick up tools from the ground and kept getting lost (not knowing it was not necessary to pick up trash to finish the quest).

Yeah, I had a few do that in my lobby, too. Most people don't have the patience or luxury of time to wait more than a few minutes for a quest to start. Was nearly 10 minutes before the countdown appeared, and an additional 10 minutes then before the quest started once it did appear. I don't know many people that have the patience to sit around for 20 minutes, doing nothing and having no clue when it's going to start.

A global countdown like Aurora's concerts could be immensely helpful. I don't know if it's a bug that it didn't appear for me, or if they just didn't code it. Or maybe it's not global, for all I know. It could be server/player number based, I don't know!

I think that maybe TGC didn't make it fully cooperative because of all the flack they got for the Assembly Quests. People hated being forced to help players for those, or hated needing to wait for other characters when they played mostly solo.

plus, it was super unclear what the timer was for at first. as many others it seems, i first thought it was how much time we had left to finish, and i just kept stressing over being able to start the quest finally [because it said "wait for others" and there was many others there already] and then i figured out that it was the timer for the beginning. . i guess. its nice that it will just start when the timer hits zero, instead of like with the assembly quests where i've had to wait like.. 45 minutes once just to get enough people together, but its annoying that you need to wait like that at all.

panic inducing and anxiety are the proper words for the experience. i didnt know what would happen if you stay outside the bubble for too long, so i always rushed but i couldnt even figure out where i was because of the big sheep and everyone wearing the same clothes [which is a cool idea for the community aspect but makes it sooo hard to figure out who you are if you have the blink of and eye to figure things out]
the screen fading out is great for atmosphere i guess, but i really gave me anxiety and i almost quit out of the game because i my heart was beating to fast, TT
this was such a stressful experience.

I do see the effort and idea behind the quest/s and i think its a really interesting idea, and i'm sure it can be fun
but the speed of the mask is just way too fast. i really really tried grabbing things, but i kept on getting more and more stressed because the animation took so long, so in the end i was just scrambling to stay with the group

Big mixed feelings about the quest. I love the concept and the overall design, the way skykids in other servers look like ghosts, the way all the skykids in your server are wearing the same ceremonial garb and mask, and I love that it kinda throws back to Prophecy thematically, especially given that I was a prophecy moth. I also loved how waiting around at the start was an opportunity to bond with others and built my sense of excitement. However, that excitement was deflated pretty much right away when the quest became “hey kids, pick up all this junk,” which felt especially tedious since the Vortex has been a daily quest since Days of Nature began. I was hoping for something more ritualistic I guess. I actually liked that it was confusing, but cramming multiple servers of skykids into a tiny ball of light made it too chaotic. And, while I’m probably alone in this complaint, I wish it were actually possible to fail the passage. Part of what made the Trials fun was that you had to work to get through them. I thought that I and the other kids in my server would need to get every piece of trash before the timer ran out, so it felt anti-climactic when the quest kind of just autocompleted. I know this is feedback I should share with TGC, but since #live-feedback isn’t appearing in my list of channels I’m just kinda getting out my first impressions here.

Usually about 2 weeks, give or take a few days. That's FULL days, by the way. Including the seasonal candles in realms, all quests, and the extra one for owning the pass.

If you think it over logically, you arrive from grandma by the start of turtle event (because of the need of flying down to the turtle reef takes additionally one minute). After finishing turtle you need to fly a lot towards the vortex and fly a lot back to candle run autoburn sanctuary. So basically that quests adds a lot of time of traveling

Especially when the guide will be gone

Im not at all trying to be rude in any way but a tip i use a lot is I screenshot the times for gma or geyiser then i put those time stamps on my lock screen, then when I am playing the game i can swipe down from top and see how close i am to that time. hopefull this helps some

The daily quest spirit is Crab Whisperer, a spirit you have to escort through a crab and krill infested area in Wasteland. I've noticed a lot of players don't like doing escort spirits in Wasteland.

A fair few players skip them.

The quest begins every 15 minutes (there should be a timer at the bottom of the screen counting down) at which point it'll automatically begin. If it doesn't start at xx:00, xx:15, xx:30, or xx:45, then that's a bug

For me it wasn't necessarily merging with others, but merging with people that just ignored the three people standing there trying to open the door. Twice there were people behind the door honking that couldn't be bothered to chibi fall back out and help open the door. Honestly think that area would be nicer if the four player part was in it's own room that you had to enter like the 8 player puzzle. But maybe an easier fix would be to make the candles and spirits not spawn until the door is open.
