I say this as someone with almost all the Ults [Prophecy - Performance], cosmetics are a way to express ourselves via dressing up out skykid avatars and having certain items locked away forever doesn't seem encouraging at all

i think the gripe vets have with ultra returning is that there wouldn't be a point of purchasing the pass if the items were just going to be release for free, even if it's in the future.

They could have them in the shop for limited time and return them on a rotating cycle. It could be guaranteed that ultimate packs aren't sold until a year after the season. That way players that spent time that season get a year of exclusivity

Honestly... Ult talk, I can understand specific ones being unavailable for good. Like Pendants. Those should definitely be season specific. Other stuff, though... Depending on what it is, some of it should be available again later down the road. Maybe costing AC? That way it has to be worked for, but it's still attainable by anyone willing to put in some game time. That's usually how F2P games with IAP usually go. Buy it now, or wait and work later.

Or just make them part of future passes (minus pendants, ofc) or iap. That way it's not free, but still attainable. Solves (some) toxicity issues, but doesn't lock them in the closet forever.

I'm taking this system as an addition to ts system; so i'll only get the items I need
Also if this system continues, chances are Assembly spirits may return soon, also they can return as ts too. So its quite a good system to implement

I'm hoping so, because the 4 spirits shown in the image are all the remaining assembly spirits. But they also mentioned it would be trialed throughout the year, and nothing about how long would be between each multi spirit visit which makes it iffy to take as a positive until the next 2 and we have some understanding of time

Overall it's a net positive. I've been feedbacking about it a whole lot, and I'm excited

But the currency problem is also there because say your favorite missed season is dreams (mine is) and you want almost everything. That's a lot of saving to be prepared for them, and the daily cap is still at 20

Get the cosmetics you really want as there'll be lots of cosmetics from 4 spirits. Also you can ask for an outfit in #outfit-requests and get your desired cosmetics

Popping in here to comment on a long post by @rain garden in #wishlist-and-ideas-archived , which brings up some players’ original protests when the TS system was first introduced: “I’ve been here a long time, I paid money for my season passes, I did the season quests in the original way (timing, emotional context etc) that was intended by the devs, it’s not fair to give these emotes/cosmetics to new players for free!”

I… just don’t understand this subjectively? I’ve been playing Sky for years, I’ve spent ridiculous time and money in here, and every time a new TS comes through, imho it’s so wonderful to see the wave of newer players who are running around with their favorite new look. I’m happy to think of my season pass as a long-term equivalent of buying a candle pack: a way to get things faster, not to gatekeep those things behind a paywall. I realize not everyone feels this way, but I just wanted to establish that not everyone feels the other way either.

When I started,there was no TS system, and once a season was over, those spirits were gone. There was no way to see those spirits or acquire even their base emotes. Even re-introducing one TS at a time was incredible.

yes thank you! my point was that old ults were limited items special for the year a player was there. it is locked behind a season/timeframe and a pass because its special.

players are so used to having everything handed to them they believe ults should be as well. i said that would be disrespectful because people worked very hard for them, and i said we should instead push for NEW ults that callback to the old ones. it would be fair for BOTH new players AND vets so they dont feel disrespected because like i said, back in the day TS brought the same feeling. getting all season items including pass exclusives for free, plus a new system about to make it even easier, doesnt mean everything needs to be handed out. vets deserve that special gift and deserve to be respected as the players who built this game with their money before it got big. ults ARE cool and i think they should be reimagined instead is literally what i said

The old seasonal items/emotes used to be special too. They’re still fun. I don’t think they’re less fun when more people have them. For me, ults are essentially in the same category.

I haven't seen a single person who wants the ults to return even implying they want it just handed to them. most suggestions I see involving that are along the lines of once all the ts from that season are acquired that the ult should be available. in fact the only people I've seen saying that sentiment are people who are against things returning. it's harder to earn a spirits items now. during season it was a 5-15 min a day task and after a few weeks you'd complete a full spirit. now a days it's a 2 hour a day task during those few weeks for a currency that's also used on other time limited things I'm lucky I don't have to do the grinding new players do

Im a new player and to I say i dont need to work hard to get past spirit stuff is blatantly wrong....I need to constantly grind....for hours, every day. Just so i could afford some items. The only suggestions I've seen to bring back ultimate gifts, at least recently, is that once completing every spirit from the season you can call the season's guide in Orbit and get the gifts from there.

Make the ultimate gift SUPER expensive in AC so you would have even more to save up AC for, so that there's even more reason to go into Eden every week for the people who already have every elder item currently available. Or even behind a paywall similar to a "season rerun" where you also get a different color of the pendant to show how you obtained the items.
So that way there's still more status in being a veteran who was there for the season's actual runtime and got everything before it ended because you have the super shiny, golden pendant that fits with way more things than other kinds of colors

Also give the ability to get things for free to people who bought the season pass initially but didn't get to all of the items, provided they can get the rest of the items from the TS if they missed any of the important ones (done by a check for if the ID has the season's pendant in the inventory, if that's possible)

This is not a surefire solution and i'm certain there are MANY problems with it but it's a combination of a bunch of things i saw in the wishlist and ideas channel, as well as my own ideas of ways it could work based on how things are going so far.

TGC trying out new ways to bring travelling spirits means it's even more expensive for new players to get everything, but there's also more chances (for now) to get the items. Despite this it would still take longer to complete it from absolutely nothing from the spirits featured in the little group events

15-25 min doing quests per day for about 4/5ths of a season’s duration is about 14-24 hours of play per season.. contrast that with collecting about 800 candles and 70~ish hearts to complete 1 season via ts, assuming hearts are obtained via trades you’re looking at roughly 1000 candles. Let’s assume you collect about 15 a day in 1 hour, that’s over 60 hours

you pay $10 usd to unlock seasonal items and a bonus free seasonal candle every day. you can earn seasonal content completely free but some items are locked to only pass holders. if you talk to the guide standing by the portal you can get them to teleport you to the seasonal area to relive the spirits memories and do seasonal quests to see the story. and in the constellation at home you can use orange candles earned from daily quest completion to buy seasonal cosmetics

From perspective of player living in the United States (excluding Hawaii, most of Arizona), will not see any changes in event time for geyser, grandma and shard.

From perspective of player living in area that don't have DST (Like your truly ), will see event tine shift forward on March 12 only and remain so until somewhere in November.

But....
From perspective of player living in area that have DST but not on the same day United State (Like Christian), will see the event time shift forward on March 12 and subsequently see anther shift backward on the day, their country starts DST. (For Christian that will be March 26)

I would agree, if it weren't for the fact that the most expensive stuff (cosmetics), can be changed frequently and without consequence. Before I got an actual "non-moth" look, I changed my entire look all the time. Cape, pants, mask, prop, etc. If the props and expressions were the expensive part, then that would be a different story.

Making the most personally expressive items the most expensive, and then complaining that people need to learn to "pick only what you KNOW you'll use", just stifles expression and creativity. I KNOW I will use all the cosmetics I pick, but I also KNOW they're the most needlessly expensive items. Which, again, just leads to increasing fomo.

Yeah agree Tgc preaches that emotes and cosmetics are to express yourself, so the argument to "buy what you will use" just err, as you said 'stifles expression and creativity' People end up more worried about never seeing the items again, rather than focusing on creativity and yadayada. I (and this is a personal opinion) don’t feel restricted in aspects of creativity or self-expression by not owing items I won’t or wouldn’t use, so that reduces to a matter of personal preferences if players do feel that way. Individual gameplay choices or perhaps playing tendencies, occasionally, diverge from game’s intended spirit or developers’ expectations, as is the case with this game.

Sky is been told several times to be about human connections and companionship; how each participant decides to play the game beyond that is dependent on their own judgment and personal choice, always personal. If ‘collectors’ or any sky player think they need or want everything in-game and don’t stop to consider what they actually want or need, that tends to lead to impulsive spending which create stressed players, burnout, and self-inflicted fomo — ( It is also very sad that these inclinations are often encouraged by players who believe the game is all about looks and force this belief upon new players because that is all they have ever experienced )
It’d be great if players learned how to regulate these behaviors or tendencies in a way that’s healthier for them and more beneficial to their engagement with the game.

Well I think it hits fomo because certain spirits haven't comeback in 2 to 2+ years. If this system stays I will be so happy because they will cycle through a little over a year with ALL spirits.

I think one of the major contributors to FOMO is the scarcity of the items. When you see a TS that had something you might want to use st some point. You feel like that TS might not come back for years and you'll have missed out in the item.
For me bringing back multiple spirits doesn't help fomo just because options, but can help fomo if tgc is very clear that they'll continue bringing these spirits back in greater numbers and a higher frequency so players doesn't feel like they'll miss out by not buying things right away. Similar to how days of events return every year.

There’s a player type/behavior grid I’ve seen that’s based on playing card suits: hearts (social interaction), spades (“dig around” and explore), diamonds (collect all the things), clubs (fighty fight)

it doesn't help that the developers told beta testers that those elder masks were expensive specifically to flex. regardless of their intention with their message, the developers ARE contributing to the fomo and flexing the players exhibit, it's not just the players going off on their own with it. we'd see a whole lot less unhealthy tendencies with hoarding/collecting if items were not time limited with the threat of possibly never returning (base game cosmetics people earn at a far more relaxed pace). people aren't upset and rushing to collect the items in performance/assembly/remembrance quest trees because they're permanent.

This is what I was mainly hinting at in all the comments I've posted regarding the Assembly visit. Unless these kinds of events happen at an increased frequency, it just makes the whole situation with TS worse for nearly everyone involved.

Bare minimum, we should be having a TS with reduced prices every week, or if they want to keep it at every two weeks, then we need a season visit every 3 weeks (two weeks here, one with nothing).

Otherwise, as Kal said, it's deliberately contributing to the fomo that these kinds of games contribute to. It doesn't matter what TGC says, it's their actions, and their actions are the same as all those big name AAA companies that deliberately lean into fomo: limited content with no guarantee of it returning.

Sad to say, some players mistakenly believe tgc is doing this to exploit their players to buy all of these spirits at once, whereas in reality, I think it’s their way to reduce players’ fomo and for them to learn how to make selective purchases

The thing is, I think most vets are fine with sharing past items, but there is an extremely vocal minority of gatekeepers whose sense of status seems tied to having exclusive items so sharing them feels like a personal affront?

from my experience the most vocal people aren't even ones who have the coveted old items tbh there's not even a whole lot of people my "sky age" around to complain anyways. got bored of the game or all their friends left and it lost its magic or life got busy and they just didn't feel like coming back.
