Part of what makes ult gifts special is that they’re limited. Like the anubis mask holders. Those items are gone for good... that exclusivity is what makes wearing them feel special

& everyone has fire prophet pants now. Now they’re just one of the most commonly used pants in the game & when something becomes super common, it loses that waow factor. That doesn’t make it bad. That's how it is.

I think the style is what matters not how rare the outfits are besides everything outfit except ults is gonna come back eventually and even the ults may have their own returning versions (like the owl hair 2.0). And with how the ts system works it’s not like the fire prophet pants are even that common anymore because the spirit is gone now. It’s back to being exclusive.
Maybe it’s just me but I like to style things for myself and not to impress others with how old my account is or whatnot. What matters is that you make it look good!
Like I’m sure I could make an entirely iap outfit, and given enough time I can probably have all the ingredients for an entirely ult outfit. But then it’s not like the whole lobby can always see me. And it probably wouldn’t mesh well together anyways.

I think exclusive items are directly part of the issue that I have with TGC making more things limited to get people to make more money.

It is the absolute core of the FOMO marketing tactic that TGC uses, if it was removed I am almost positive that the entire issue of fomo in the game would be greatly reduced.

I can understand one side of the keeping ults idea though, that is specifically the side that dislikes the idea due to it being TGC going back on their word of making it exclusive.
In the same vein that Aurora items being exclusive was something very obviously implied when the season first occurred, only for them to go back on this and release them later.
This would again, be fixed if limited time exclusive items just didn’t exist. There are a lot of games who can do limited time items (that aren’t exclusive to those times like seasons) or items that require effort, and still have prestige due to how they are obtained!

Just make ults have some sort of harder method to acquire. An idea a chatter had years ago that I still like is having the ult only be available for purchase using ascended candles in orbit (like the elder masks) after getting all the spirits in the respective season.

the way I see it, even if people would be upset over TGC going back on "their word" of keeping items exclusive, it has to be either they go back on their word or they just keep the playerbase in a treadmill because they've locked themselves into this situation and don't acknowledge that games evolve, decisions change, and what was once stated to be the case for a majority of people may not be the case anymore. it reminds me of the traveling spirits sorta, spirits returned as iap bundles and they were soon replaced by the current outdated ts system we have today but at the same time so many people were angry about the fact that they existed in the first place, and criticism over time changed from "this system exists" to "this is causing fomo and newer spirits aren't given enough chances to arrive"

admittedly, the more controversial take about this I would have is that in the event tgc decides to bring them back and playerbase starts complaining, the positive reception of TS system and how it kind of alleviates fomo but also causes it, is an indicator that not every complaint should be listened to, and some people just are not going to be happy no matter what tgc does. at some point, you have to consider whether the opinion of a jaded veteran is really worth adjusting the game over

I agree with all of this. Mostly the not listening to every complaint thing, especially when it comes to change.

Segwaying this into another thing;

Sky feels like a game that HAS to change. It has to grow with its player base or else it becomes stagnant and tensions grow higher in the community.

I feel like we are right now in a sort of stagnant state, and need a fundamental change to happen to boost it back up again.

The game is frankly boring and now more than ever feels like a chore to even play, it’s been the same it’s been for years — with its fomo and its gameplay loop — and I think that’s an issue in the case of sky. Sky as a social game should adapt to changing, and becoming better for the community.

I particularly feel strongest about this IN the social aspect of the game. I think the social aspect of the game has been getting worse every new update because other things get prioritized and it makes the game feel less and less like a social experience.

TGC should be working to change the way the social aspect works to be more.. social! even if veterans wouldn’t like that.

The issue here comes down to the SKY INFLATION!
Candles being the same amount you always get when items — from my knowledge — have been getting more and more expensive, it’s an issue. The play base will eventually just be unable to keep up with the demand the items are asking for.

If I’m correct, the isle wl bug is actually caused by the wl at the end of isle temple, that one’s only available to moths on their first playthrough, but it shows on the map and we have no way of accessing it
