Are they going to ever bring all of tennogen to all the platforms? I play Xbox/pc but every once awhile I use my phone for things like getting a frame started on being broken down by helminth but every time I do my saryns which use tennogen skins and such (Ion Skin) is reverted to base saryn prime skins and armors so I have to log back in on Xbox and reapply them every time.
Probably not. They have contracts with the Tennogen artists.
No one here to could tell you for sure. Anyways this is not relevant to Tennogen. Please check channel names, descriptions and pins.
Wouldn’t they want their stuff in all platforms to get more $$$?
you'd think they wouldn't if it were that simple?
The artists get a small payout every time the items are purchased on PC. Because they are not cash shop items on console, they would not. Artists are paid a royalty up front for consoles.
technical question here. Hey looking for some insight on what the issue is with my tint map is when im exporting from substance painter. im trying to export some tests while i work but my maps are both looking and working wrong in tennogen. ive gone over the help page and the 5 part series on youtube a bunch of times. any ideas? enjoy the proof that everything is seamingly working as it should
oh and heres the back if youre curious. i need a break
to be clear, things look alright in substance but the map is wrong upon export
its been an incredibly irritating couple of days with no end in sight but you cant argue with the results
yo dawg we heard you like emmissives on your warframes, so we emmissed that bad boy up
Did you get this issue solved?
@ivory imp Noooo
I probably won’t have time to work on it today so I’ll spend my free time doing some more research
When you have the chance, show me how the exported tint map looks
@ivory imp it’ll be a couple of hours, but yeah, no problem
Hm
for those of you invested, chrisis averted
that looks sick
This looks like a badass superhero XD
We need more HATS for warframes!!!
Then you should be happy #tennogen-creation-discussion message
I want to see some hats on frost ,tho
Simply because He is my fav frame
And Yes. I'm a big fan of your work
I hope I can see this skin asap in game
wdym "hats"?
hey ) , i was working on some skin for Yareli and when i'm trying to export the model as a single object to the TenoGen scene it looks like this.... , i didn't touch anything from the model , just merged together so ill be able upload it as skin for her , also not sure how to make two objects be a part of one skin , like for the Yareli she has her mane body with one texture set and the skirt with another so when you saving it you have to select one , but if you wanna apply skin for them both they have to be separate ... (maybe answer for this already exist and im just cant find anything on the internet so sorry for it but i really didn't find something about it )
Ye know Things like these
HATS! U know?
For my opinion, they have some "Characteristic" designs
They're Just right👌
ah I get what you mean
Right? 😃
I was worried you'd mean literal hats like on Nova Visage which wouldn't get accepted now
That one have its own good look as well.
It looks like a little Pilot hat isn't it?
👍
Try applying transformations and modifiers first
Also, it's not necessary to merge them. Tennogen tool is only used for uploading stuff to workshop, I.e. providing files to DE, so realistically the only thing that you need to focus on - is that your helmet is uncorrupted (if you made custom) and that textures are fine. Body doesn't matter, and de will use their own model anyway
Aka if body geometry is broken, doesn't matter as long as renders look good.
ow i see , thank you very match !
Hello all! I'm working on a heavy blade skin and was wondering what kind of details to add, model wise. Some ideas I had were to add wraps on the guard and handle, but I'm wondering if that would look good during the texturing phase
Also lmk if it looks too familiar to something existing, I couldn't find a weapon that looked like this
I would take a look at the style guide and maybe try to pick out a faction that you like the vibe of. Go from there. There are fairly clear rules that will give you directions to head in.
Oh gotcha, when drafting the sword I had the Ostron in mind, thank you
solid pick. good luck
Oooo I wanna collab with you!!! Anyways since it's Ostron, I'd make it look improvised and a little messy, with natural materials like wood or seashells blended with Orokin stuff like porcelain or metal. The cloth wraps would fit too
Feel free to reach out here for more help or ideas
decided to remake this. not sure if I should stick with the horns or keep it sleek.
Push the shapes more and avoid making helmets too compact like they are contained inside a sphere or box. DE prefers unique, over the top shapes that really sticks out (literally) from the crowd.
Simple silhouettes are often reserved for the default helmets
So then add the horns but I'd make them aerodynamic to fit Gauss's speedy theme
Or maybe you could start with a sleeker silhouette then make it stick out during Redline?
mind showing any references?.
I like that idea. but the opposite way around might be better.
I see. I'll try to push it out more.
Take a look at the shapes and designs of cars, teardrops, as well as wings of birds or planes
something like this?.
Still too safe. Focus on larger shapes and not small details. Open breathers are a good idea though.
Yeah, you only pushed the cheeks and a few spikes. There should be enough difference that you can notice the changes from far away
people focus too much on cars for inspiration but everyone's sleeping on motorcycles
Shut
Don't give out
My lawyer is advising me to say that I have rights, and constitution says I do
But yes, motorcycles are q better inspiration because they're designed more like living creatures to begin witj
hell, Gauss Mag helmet has straight up motorcycle lights
I'm no motorcycle person. More of a (pink and glittery) military-grade tank person
I mean have fun getting inspo for Gauss from there
Yeah I was just excited lol
I really liked that hunhow chestplate. It's glorious
Yeah I realized my mistake as soon as I sent it. At least my message got across lol 😅
Also it's for showcasing. Didn't want to interrupt the flow with that
the resemblance is there, no doubt
I love it. Was always a fan of of his appearance and just him in general
Stalker and Hunhow did a collab to make fashion for the Tenno after the new quest (real lore 100%)
this is the weekend kiddos
interesting
Very good topology.
thank ya kindly. still have half my polycount to play with too
god i hope they let me use that pipe
oh i really like this one though. and honestly, isnt that a perk of doing stuff for the infested?
A bit, yes. It's almost impossible and pointless to keep it all quad
I think it's all properly retopoed in places where it will bend, and that's enough
AKa - everywhere
i came up in feature animation in my training. feels weird to just go straight tris
I had very strict teachers who'd always insist on doing everything in quads.
Having even one tris was not necessary taboo, but would get a little red circle denoting it's presence
same
(To be honest, they were wrong. Tris have their place, and are as much of a tool, as quads)
(And often it's more effiicent to triangulate an area instead of quadriangulating)
for me it was basically ok in an ear or something
i feel like I’m onto something.
yeah ig. I'll try to make it more clear to notice later.
I'd make the spikes flow out to the back. And maybe add large horns or spikes that stick out, which spread or compact on Redline
might remove the spikes completely tbh. doesn't really fit the car aesthetic.
I have a mighty need
well i have good news and i have bad news. the good news is that technically im done and just barely under budget. the bad news is that i couldnt fit in the pipe so ill need to find more ways to reduce. but thats a problem for tomorrow rillwater
ok i got it down to 3526. thatll have to be enough
Are you sure you need this amount of polies on the hat
You could break the flow and just pull a tube on it
Oh yeah, Vulb pointed out a good spot to start
That’s where I’m going next if I have to. The areas highly visible to the player so I wanted to keep a little extra geometry there if I could at this point, I’ve gone through and systematically removed all of the polygons that can’t be seen. It ain’t pretty if you start pulling all the different sections away, but it was effective.
Food for thought, it's on the left side of the character and camera is on the right
Everything on the hat is mirrored, but you’re probably still right. I’m going to explode the mesh and start baking in a few hours, so let’s see what we get 🫡
I really appreciate the discussion regarding the fine points of tennogen creation. I don't have anything useful to contribute. Maybe someday.
Discussing with other artists is always a good time when I’m working on a project. Most of us work alone, but it’s nice to have some collaborative time
All I can say in my defense is that I eat cement
haha
Brother.. is that you?
i couldnt shake the feeling that it seemed off kilter. can you believe i forgot the scarf? def gonna have to reduce some more. gonna use your suggestion @celest nest
Yeah, most of your details will be normal baked anyway.
Also, I noticed you mentioned 3.5k polybudget for hat. I'm not sure if you know, but current budget is I think 7k
hoooolyyyy
Aka go wild.
how did i get that so wrong??
i must have read tris as polys so my brain automatically halved it
i might push it to completion, submit it and then rework the areas that need it
I mean light helmet is still good. De appreciates underbudget works
It was 4k like 4 years ago
half may be a bit overboard
hatframe
Btw, I noticed his face wrap bring pretty low poly, check that his mesh size is similar to body density
So difference of two nearby submeshes is not jarring
good call
not as bad as expected. should be fine considering the material its intended to look like
agreed
is this for heads or for the whole body?
Head
@onyx arch are you asking ive just done a head or are you asking if i made a full skin? cause theres a full skin
Well it wouldn't matter for body because we're not allowed to remodel it anyway
So technically our pooybudget for bodies is "as much as baker can take without your computer just implodng
ok, ty. I'm glad they increase the polycount for the head
for sone reason, I cant open tennogen thing
Some in house heads are still like 16k.
is syadanna still 3.5 or had that changed as well
Syandana is 7.5
ok, ty. cant open the tennogen workshop for some reason.
It should be this site htt ps://ww w.warframe.c om/steam workshop/creating -a-syandana
Remove spaces
ty
Opening?
Odd and strange
We really need a new skin for dante.. he just looks ugly rn
omg this looks so cute kinda reminds me of the wizard guy from final fantasy 9
just gimme few hours. then we'll really be somewhere
cant wait for more skins for my boi dante
new pipe is on the way
really want to be able to make characters and skins for this but not sure if my pc can handle the programs
the clasps on the grimoire and zato stance
I love the hand!!! So cool
and probably gandalf
I can't type in caps so imagine more excitement lol. It's fantastic
oooo i just had a cool idea for a grimoire
thank ya kindly. should have everything in low poly and textured in a few hours, not counting final details
what do you use to make this stuff?
zbrush, maya, 3dcoat, marmoset, substance painter
blender. its free and can do pretty much all the same stuff
sweet
ill see if my computer can handle blander
also play the game and read this
blender haha
blanderrrr
the game?
Is Dante good?
warframe. see what you vibe with. ive been really into the entrati pretty much from the moment they showed up
oh for sure. even after the nerf
oh ive been playing since febuary lol
he was a floating nuke of a frame and still is. plus he can make a team nigh unkillable
dante is ma boi
Hm.
and his passive auto scans things that arent done in your codex
i shall marry dante and jade will sanction the marrage XD
I am personally of strong opinion that Warframe pre 2016 was miles better both in style and tone.
But new frames have better unwrap and models and are often easier to work wit
fair few people were jokingly annoyed at me coz i got super lucky and got rev and khora prime in 2 days the day after khora got vaulted XD
youve been at this a while huh Vul?
we could team up vulbear
haha those are great pulls
u swede vul? bjorn is swede for bear
No
is blender hard to learn?
Somewhat. Not as hard as Zbrush I'd say, but due to being a VERY large generalist software, it has thousands of functions and things it can do, before we even include mods
@queen tree you wont need all of this but its where everyone who learns blender tends to start https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B0J27sf9N1Y&list=PLjEaoINr3zgEPv5y--4MKpciLaoQYZB1Z
Let's make another donut🍩 Watch Part 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tBpnKTAc5Eo&list=PLjEaoINr3zgEPv5y--4MKpciLaoQYZB1Z&index=2
This is the start of Blender tutorial series for complete beginners. In this series you'll learn Blender's core functionality and features while making your very own donut. To start, this video will teach you the i...
fundimentaaaaaaals
Donut is basically your diploma in blender
to do tennogen youll need to understand modeling sculpting UVs and texturing. if youre trying for unique helmets or something like that youll also need to understand polycount and topology. but thats putting the cart before the horse
@celest nest does that about cover it?
No
This is not enough for full game production pipeline. You need a crash course specifically on character creation for game dev, which includes high to low poly workflow, explains baking, maps.
I guess I should’ve been more specific
It's also necessary to do a tutorial on retopology and a short course on what constitutes good topology and common errors and pitfalls (such as what is a non-manifold polygon, what are zero size polygons, how to check mesh for errors and fix normal directions, and how to prevent nonagons)
It's nothing particularly difficult, but if someone is new and doesn't know what they're doing, some errors are bound to happen
Yeah, that won’t cover it but for learning blender it will

Oh nice, I’ve never seen this
This channel specializes both in blender, specifically characters and creatures and specifically for gamedev. That's important, because render and movie production pipelines are a little different and rely more on raw highs and displacement models accordingly.
aka won't teach you how to bake
Yeah, I had some real growing pains with the baking
If it's of any help, my first helmet (that is currently in game) took me six months of blind poking and learning random tutorial before I finally managed to produce it. Tennogen was in infancy before and tehre wasn't anyone who could help
aka if you produce a work below half a year - you're officially better than me.
new nitain pipe just dropped
thats their job. i assigned them for a reason
Ah okay, best of luck then
thanks 🙂
Turn it into a giant thumbs up
With big thumb having a hole with smoke going out of it
(Make it turn into a middle finger when below 30% hp)
Pff-
getting started on new project
Less goo.. finally some kullervo stuff
it's exactly that
Oh, that's kinda cool!
just thought youd like to know
still working some things out and theres still more to add but its promising
what's the text say?
@rotund nova not sure where you are in the story progression so ill just say these are glyphs that can be found in areas around the entrati faction. i believe these were taken from a door
I don't think these actually mean anything
if they were an actual alphabet like the Orokin/Tenno, Grineer or Corpus alphabets there would have definitely been a translater by now
theres only like six or so of these anyway. not enough for an alphabet
at any rate, theres a doorway where these are mirrored in the same way i have them displayed
no shock there. this is from when i thought i was low on polys. thanks for the heads-up
Holes patched. UVs tightened 🫡
OMG I LOVE IT
@queen tree good because im destroying my corneas for yall doin cleanup
must..... have..... RAINBOW DANTE
cool by me. just added those
Game will compress textures to 512x512, and further LOD them to 256, so thin strands like this look bad in game
Or super small specifically tintmap details. Tintmap is half the res of rest of maps
I'd even be careful with fading painted details, as they might also compress badly.
noted. i need to make some changes to them anyway. they dont seem to like some color combos
If you want to add more color that does not compress badly, add untintables.
Also, keep in mind you can include a txt asking for a microdetail map from de, of your chosing
Can really enhance the skin
And don't forget that Jupiter is flat and birds are not real
hahaha
that explains why we dont have any condroc companions
im super hyped for the dante skin it looks so cool
Hi there I’m wanting to start doing some tennogen can anyone give me some advice on how to start
There are files and some guides in #tennogen-resources
Download a model software and start playing. A lot of folks use Blender, since it's free. There are some good videos and resources for using blender.
Basic blender tutorial:#tennogen-creation-discussion message
Character tutorial for blender: #tennogen-creation-discussion message
Thank you
hi what is tennogen, ive heard of it but im not sure of what it actually is
community made cosmetics
Tenno made cosmetics.
im calling my sweet baby boy done
ok last one. there are some things going on with the metal that i dont quite understand and a few little tweaks i need to make, but i think today is the day
I hate the fact that I cant purchase tennogens on PC
since my account originally started from mobile. I can only purchase tennogen on mobile. I mostly play on PC so buying on mobile would be a waste
yeah man i hear ya. i started on ps4 and eventually switched to PC. but it was like 5 years until cross save dropped. i completely gave up until then
This is such a fun design. It fills me with immense joy because it’s such a delight to look at.
Im so glad you like it!
Yup.. its amazing.. also did you remove the smoke pipe?
@rancid tiger thank you. I did. for two reasons. I didnt want to fight with scrolling emissives, and i think the people who felt that DE wouldnt like it were probably right
this goes hard if only I had money
That would be unfortunate but doable 🤔
Wonder how long I’ll have to wait for feedback
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3292219575 alright kiddos its up. lets see what happens
also... if anyone knows who to talk to to add dante to the list of warframes in the tag section id apreciate it
No pipe? : (
Sorry. I had concerns and I didn’t want to put off posting it anymore.
Ah I'm pretty sure helmets have less limits than body's but caution is understandable
Is that what they told you?
Yes
They want them viable and readable as obols from a distance
Used Loid as an example
Well, it could be worse, I guess. What I really want from them is feedback on the material. It looks good in substance. But it looks different everywhere I try to work on it
What day Start tennocon
tomorrow
Ty
np
Absolutely.
not tennogen related
Just the drops
also not TennoGen related
qq: is fabrics allowed for tennogen? Just wanted to know.
generally yes
always depends on what your plan is
ic much appreciated.
"hey rillwater," I hear you saying. "now that youve put out your first tennogen piece, what do ya think will be your second?"
well as it happens i have this old thing laying around from ages ago but i hit a wall. maybe its time to dust her off
Did they say when/where they'll be posting the 1999 cosmetic info?
not that i heard
At the Tennogen panel they mentioned it would be posted in the next few days
First time I see the bot clean spam in person. So that's why this channel is always "unread" for me, even when it's entirely empty
wowie
@celest nest what did i miss?
just another hacked account spamming every public channel
ah
anyone in the mood to help me tackle a weird technical zbrush problem ive never seen before?
Depends on hte problem
so i was setting up an old file to work on and the scale is all wrong. the brush is huge. sounds simple. t-pose the mesh, unify to resize but its not working. i check the DE provided mesh in maya and the size is right. ok so i try reimporting the file into zbrush. still coming in tiny. ok fine. i try scaling my object up in zbrush and export it to maya and the mesh is 10 times too big. i have no idea whats going on
this is my brush scaled to 1
i could but im blender illiterate
I'm just interested what it looks like in environment I'm familiar with.
ok
My Maya education is pretty outdated and why am I blue
Oh I guess I always was blue.
here it is layed over the dante ive been doing
that is an obj
its from the site. i redownloaded it just to be sure there wasnt some change
I mean realistically if scale in Zbrush ALONE is wrong, all yo need to do - is just go to preferrences and adjust brush size
This
Dynamic brush size to like.... 5 or something. For smaller meshes
nooo maybe it was meee all along
my dynamic brush size was turned down to 0
never even considered it
yeah that was it
i literally never touch dynamic brush settings. no idea how that happened
File is fine
yeah
ZYeah that's probably it
i was thrown off by the export scale
i was surpised to see it wasnt 1, 0, 0, 0
just checked in maya. everything is fine. thanks for the assist
Does anyone know if for operator tennogen if we need a lens/glass shader that it has to be see through, or could we have a roughness map go over it to be slightly more opaque?
That feeling when you have something attributed to your name in the Workshop for the first time, it's amazing
*Wisp main's need intensifies* This has a lot of promise already by the helm alone.
really? Thats great to hear. I was a little on the fence about doing this one because there are so many wisp skins already
Don’t listen to the haters, Wisp TennoGen will put food on the table
couldnt care less about haters. i just wondered if anyone would care 😄
also, what haters are we talking about?
The ones that complain she has too many skins; which is a fair critique but let's not forget Baruuk got like 4-5 skins in one update lmao
I think she's fine, compared to Excalibur, who is really overloaded.
In my defense, I started this before she had any skins
I’ve been meaning Jade since she dropped, but she just feels too complicated to jump into right now from scratch
There is a glass guide somewhere on the Tennogen forums that covers how to make glass
Hi everyone! With Gara Prime and the Gara Kaleida skin, you may have noticed an updated glass effect that is much more luminous than the original Gara’s glass. We’d like to share the steps on how TennoGen artists can make glass creations that match these more vibrant iterations of Gara, should th...
While it’s for the luminous glass, it’s still the same workflow as it would be for vanilla Gara glass, etc
ah thank you so much!
is this warframe enogh its for the 1999 thing but it doesn't really have the kinda organic style kind of on purpose since 1999 is different it was inspired by this one prop from alien and i tried to make it look like 90s sci fi but i don't know if it would fit in warframe
this is also my first time doing tenogen stuff and im still learning blender so it might be not up to par idk
is armorpaint good for tennogen texturing i was planning on using it but it seems it doesn't have a supported shader in the guide
Seems like a good start to me. wires may be too small. not sure. as for armorpaint, ive heard good things but ive never used it
so i dont put much stock in comment sections because if you do it drives you crazy, but someone said something interesting. they said "You need to unhide the face, showing the face of the Warframe is quite essential, even helmets with a curtain have it as part of the face."
to my mind, warframes do not have "faces." ive always thought of the hat portion where the glyphs are as the "face and the whole hat portion as the "helmet." do we think there is any validity to the comment or naw? ill leave the decision making up to DE so im not worried, but im curious about whay yall think
Is it on the Steam comments?
of course 😄
What is that comment referring to?
i guess they dont like the scarf
It refers to Dante?
yeah
They have no idea what they're talking about.
Yeah that sounds a bit silly
Showing face is not essential. Having balanced composition with central attention point is essential.
sadge.
I figured. I wasn’t worried but I wondered what you all would think
?
I think they are saying sad but misspelling it as a joke
Yeah, it's a Pepe the frog thing
Anyways, I think that, because Warframes are robot suits, they actually shouldn't have a (human-looking) face
Hello, I was wondering if someone could answer a couple questions I have? I'm thinking about trying to design something for the 1999 one.
Are you only supposed to post one for 1999, all three types, or as many as you want?
Can I post progress and/or the final result on social media? I assume it's fine to post like fan art?
Thanks!
You are allowed to submit as many as you want. But the process is quite strict, so it's worth making sure to practice and nail the style before doing so. (I made this mistake myself, submitting too much too early.)
You're allowed to post progress pictures and the final pictures, they'll all be visible on the workshop anyway. The only thing is that if DE accepts your work they'll prefer it if you don't announce that it is until they do. (To avoid confusion about when the items release.)
for the 1999 operator pieces, im a little confused on the wording; are we making '90s' inspired pieces within the previously approved factions, or making those pieces to the best of our ability/provided reference and description of 1999 in game (military straps/colors, wood grain, big metal casings/mechanical lines, 90s grunge aesthetics?)
A mix of both I presume, as at tennocon they suggested stuff like shutter shades and so on.
But still with a touch of "warframe"
hi guys, not sure if im on the right place, im not a tennogen creator, just thinking about it,
Curious how long it took you guys from zero to hero? read somewhere that it takes minimum a year to learn all the programs and get into it, which makes sense, de wouldnt accept crap, the only experience i have is blender during college
also, do you guys think that animal themed skins would be accepted? i know there are no elephants, giraffes in warframe world, but just mentioning them as an example
ty
I'm no pro with TennoGen, so I can't tell you how long it takes to learn it, but I think I can answer the second question:
I think animal-like designs are ok, because Oberon and Voruna and Ivara and so many others. But if you look at their designs the animal inspirations are blended well with an overall sleek and robot-like design. So you can't put like a literal elephant head, but you should be able to add in hints like the tusks, and accessories that kinda look like the floppy ears or the trunk
Wasnt planning to add elephant, i just took that as an example, the animal i would pick whould be a bit robotic too
IIRC, Someone did some vaguely animal inspired skins for Nyx and Volt; Carnifex I think? But they still looked alien enough to pass the smell test.
Thank you! That's really helpful.
carnifex is a valkyr deluxe.
lmao I don't play Valkyr or buy Liger skins, so ah well
Carnivex
hey what are you guys using to set up your renders. I wanted to set mine up in marmoset but they look soooo different that i need to figure something else out. I was more interested in getting feedback from DE about technical issues so i just wanted to get it up ASAP. But im tired of people complaining about the unfinished textures because things are reading as matte 😄
im finding that the DE provided setup for marmoset doesnt play well with high quality renders. maybe if i were to set up all of the maps indevidually in my own shader, but that seems to rule out the tintmasking pipeline
metals, gold inparticular look totally matte
Blender
i may give UE5 a go. ive gotten too used to getting the texturing done and passing the project on to the next team
probably the safest best! for "in engine game rendersr" blender can be a bit funny dealing w/ exported textures
(in my experience anyway ; u ; )
It's not that bad Im no pro by any means but I learned all a know about it from a single day of messing around and watching YouTube tutorials when I didn't understand something although its hard to master and stuff I have made in blender is probably done sub optimally and probably has some problems it's not that hard to get started
Kinda hard since there's no style guide I tried sorta a 90s sci fi tech akin to alien or starship troopers but it didn't seem right it's hard to pin down it wholud be nice if they had a style guide but I might just make one myself since Im probably going to try making tennogen stuff for it
i literally had the same idea and started working on a video xD
if you have any recs/references i would love to include them in said moving picture
well i havent started it yet but i will
made this. its not really operator stuff but weapons seemed like the easiest thing to start with and possibly emblematic of other design elements if you dont like the text i can give a version without text and the normal ak is there for comparison
Will note that it was only Operator accessories for 1999 stuff I think?
thank you lol. it still needs the final texture pass but oh it was a very much trust the process thing till seeing it come together
yis! but stuff like what gl8zed made can help with informing general "design notes/instructions," for other things to make!!
The post confused me a little since I wasn't sure how weapon design could help with Operator accessories... but I'm not really a designer, so I'm probs just ignorant regarding it
Cobalt cooking, they gotta give you a job one of these days fr fr
all good! if you want to pick it apart/look into it though, i would encourage it! as an example: if i were to make some observations of the "1999 design notes" without having an actual list provided, i would look at something like Quincy's rifle/outfit and note that there seems to be an emphasis on natural wood paneling/texture, big machined lines and heavy duty belts. that would then lead me to using things like old wood paneled car interiors for idea on finish/textures, and maybe seeing how industrial lifting straps could be used on a smaller scale for something like a pair of sunglasses or maybe a "warframe" set of headphones! (you can also see that there appears to be a bit of entrati/labs inspo in the stock<?> of the gun with some of the slimmer golden filaments, adding a sort of art deco element to the design notes!)
Thanks
What a comfy looking car interior.
Wish it'd return, instead of these endless screens, plastic panels and "minimalistic approach to design"
i just started with it becuse it was an easy thing to start with
so im finally checking out the mall on earth and i noticed something about one of the protoframes designs. the proto trinity has bare legs for the most part and you can see that its spreading down them. interesting design possibilities
hard to see but her legs have.. seams..
Hello. Im still relning modeling in 3d but I wuld ask about. what wuld you think if you see helmet whit mask like from (wolf pack or pancer cop.1999 jin roh) cosmetick? I know its stupid question but I wuld be happy to know you opinion.
They armor look very grineer like to me sou I was thinking about making such tennogen cosmetics in style of ths toxic military from warframe1999.
is this meant for Operator/Drifter or something else?
its not a stupid question. you could probably push in that direction for a warframe but make sure you read and understand the DE style guide. trying for a 1 to 1 reproduction is going to earn you a "no". as for an operator, im not so sure. wouldnt call that a mask so much as a full helmet
its also an obscure but clear pop culture reference
regardless, what you're trying to go for isn't possible if you're doing anything that isn't a facial accessory
Well but they put him to game
that means literally nothing
Well Im sure some on will make headcrab hat for ternnogen.
theres a cardboard cutout of him in the mall. what do you think that means for you?
For me its Easter egg But the whole of 1999 is like a big easter egg.
and it will be shut down the instant it gets uploaded to the workshop
what
go read the rules for tennogen. they make it clear that you cant do things like that. they will be rejected outright
no popculture references
I would argue. I know the rules, they're just funny to me when they have songs from 90's artists, a lot of Easter eggs are 90's pop culture, and they give such rules. But that's all and I apologize for the discussions if I offended or annoyed anyone.
rallen is right. i mean it is what it is, but as far as DE is concerned, they are the client and you are the contractor. you dont get to argue the rules they set. if you do, you dont get into the tennogen program and you dont get paid. i assume thats the goal, so what you think doesnt really matter if they dont agree.
also DE have always made clear that what they are allowing themself to do does not apply to TennoGen whatsoever
lol yeah its literally in the rules
Ok. I dont see logic but I will stick to rules.
the logic is pretty sound if you ask me
might need to zoom in\
I have a discord plugin that lets me zoom in quite a bunch and even then it's kinda hard to read
as someone who works a lot with typography I suggest you either use an outright different font that's more readable or you severely increase the spacing between letters and lines, with a higher priority on the letter-spacing
@ivory imp teach me the ways of animated emissives. im so trash at technical stuff. sculpt it, retopo, texture, ditch it has always been my speed
i love those glasses
it depends on what your goal is. there are two different routes of animated glowing bits
My problem has always been if I don’t see the why and the how it doesn’t always make sense. Full walk-throughs have always been crucial no matter what it is TBH
At least I only need to see it once usually
for custom fx meshes you have to make black and white maps that look like this.
for something like a warframe body, you pack your emssive into red and green that looks like this. (though the example is incorrect here as they asked me to make it black and white maps but its still the same endgoal)
Could this possibly be the thing that forces me to learn hard surface modeling 🤔
Hey Tennos! So I just decided to get into TennoGen, been playing Warframe about a year now (only really getting into it now) but the application to make the cool skins and stuff is not working for me- like not sure if the like character models for all of them are supposed to be pre loaded or if im supposed to get them from somewhere, but if someone could give me some pointers on where to start that would be great!
(ok i found the thing i was looking for but if anyone can potentially show me the ropes of using the software that'd be awesome)
The software as in the tennogen app or as in 3d in general? either way this is a good place to start https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WHJuxfEtUSg&list=PLR3SGizvoHb9zRbROrhuE9vrkZ_bevSEb

there are 5 parts
to create something decent its okay to know only warframe editing program or blender/maya/zbrush? or all? and am i missing something
You mean tennogen tool? You cannot create anything in it, it's an uploader. You need to also know full game creation pipeline, including high poly to low poly, retopology (optional if you're not going to make custom helmet), texture mapping and creation, and rendering (optional, you can just take screenshots of your work).
I would like to see such military webbing as a part of fashion for warframe.
ok this is probably enough to get me pointed in the right direction. thanks
time to shred some sick slopes or something idk
looks nice regardless
okay so ive always wanted to dip my feet into tennogen but im allergic to 3d models
so instead, i've concepted an entrati mag (the energy parts being inspired by the corrosive tanks in Al's labs) and her helmet having "pigtails" that are also inspired by the volatile energy tanks
it's also kinda like she's wearing a suit
kinda
concepted for mag specifically because she's my main most of the time
interesting
I'd also like to ask, would anyone be down for collaborating with me on this?
ty
You can shoot your shot but for any of the well established TennoGen vets to collaborate with you, the concept would need to be a lot more refined. In this stage its really just blocking out general shapes
yeah ngl, our standards are pretty and only a few of us do collabs. We usually go for something that is atleast on par with the in-game art.
Ah. i'm afraid my artstyle is nowhere near that polished or realistic 😓
I don't know if it needs to be polished or realistic or anything
I do know it needs to translate well into 3D, which is what I've been told before
People make money off of this, so it's a big deal... there are high standards so collabers would only go with something if it seems worth it
yeah i would say at the very least you need to do a turnaround
which programs do you suggest ? is blender good for all of these? i used blender like 6 7 years ago on university but i forgot all, zbrush, maya? thx in advance
I use blender, substance painter, zbrush and occasionally marmoset
Blender is great, you can certianly get by with it. Especially good since its free. I use it myself in combination with Substance painter. Though Substance painter isn't free.
Zbrush is sort of the professional standard for sculpting, but blenders tools can make do.
ty
If you dont already have a license for zbrush dont bother with it. The fee feels exploitative these days since Maxon bought them and they went month to month
It's frankly terrible. I got extremely lucky and managed to buy one of the last perpetual licenses.
All of these subscriptions I'm surrounded by feel like just an array of leeches, bloodthirstingly attached to my wallet, it's just never enough for them.
ive had one for a long time, but the idea that ill never get an update because they pulled a "whoopsie we changed the contract" is galling
I'm frankly ok with it to a degree, because Zbrush 2021 is such a comprehensive and complete package, I probably know only like 20% of it well, and utilize 5%
true
But buying that huge expensive license with my first paycheck was honestly a 2000IQ sixhead maneuver on my part that both paid for itself manyfold and will pay for the foreseeable future.
i bought it in installments way back so i got my value. i cant imagine how it was for people who just got out of school and got it like that ryear
And those vampires were pestering me for half a year to "upgrade to subscription" before nixing the the previous versions all together.
i remember that
for anybody who didnt come from the dark ages before zbrush switched to a subscription model, it used to cost $850 for a license that was supposed to last forever. that went away. use blender
Or any new alternative that surely will pop up.
Getting an email from maxon today had me 🏴☠️ 💀
Hello! I am trying to make a piece for the 1999 special round for tennogen. Is there any resources I can find for material settings for Blender? I can no longer use my copy of Substance Painter Pro
Hi there, not sure if this is where I would go for this, but is there anyone able to get me my hands on Nyx's model? trying to design a helmet for her
Thank you!
yup yup
Is doing tennogen entirely from scratch allowed?
wdym?
Starting off from a cube
@ivory imp sorry for ping but I love you tennogen glasses. they are look sou cool they are perftec.
absolutely. But it needs to fit the theme and the model it's based on ofc.
Oh alrighty, thats very helpful info tyvm! im still learning blender
for skins I recommend using the base model to help.
no worries and good luck
this feels like a mix of micommunication and misinformation. Obviously you can use your own models but only if it's not for a Warframe or ranged weapon skin. Helmets, melee skins, armour, Syandanas and operator accessories are free to go. @gaunt torrent
oh, and landing craft skins are also texture only
did I miss anything? I think that's all the types of TennoGen
You will have to use DE provided low poly body, but head is free real estate, you can do anything.
yup. I'm not the best at explaining things. But rallen explains it the best^.
I can morph the body as much as it it's still recognisable right?..
So Im not allowed to re-model the body of warframes at all?
Aw.. Welp.. Thank you for telling me that. A bit dissappointing but thank you for informing me before I had made such drastic changes
Question: If I'm making two items, like a pair of earrings, does the triangle count apply to both or just one?
It applies to slot. So if you make a helmet with two heads - you have total polybudget for helmet
I.e. if you make two earrings, you need to squeeze them both into polybudget.
Ok
Hey everyone🙌🏻 Aspiring Tennogen creator here.
I wanted to know if there are any suggestions regarding tutorials/guides that I can have a look at to get a start.
I have been fumbling around youtube for some video tuts, but I’m not finding much regarding texturing of Warframe Skins and which programs I might want to try. Mostly i have found quite in depth tutorials on Alt Helmets🙈
Much appreciated 🙌🏻 I scrolled up a bit and found a video series by Hydroxate regarding sculpting and texturing! Since it was suggested quite recently, I’m assuming it is still accepted as a good starting point regardless of its age?
I can't say, because I'm actually not experienced in TennoGen... I'm sorry
@distant chasm yeah its not perfect but it definitely covers a ton of basic stuff youll want to know. other than that, the style guide will hopefully keep you on track for your design ideas
Blender still has a ways to go, but I think it could be a good alternative to ZBrush very soon.
But Blender is more for hard modeling than sculpting lbr
Trying to bake down blender sculpts is a living hell... Half the time I just end up making a new mesh from scratch and shrinkwrap it to the sculpt.
what does this have to do with tennogen?
Hi
excal mithra has been in the workshop for 3 years. At that point, DE has already reviewed it a long time ago
Aaaaahhhh new TennoGen in new update soon
:(((
Ohhhhh??? Any good ones? :O
as in warframes
it sounds wrong either way
Any cute ones
Not announced yet, but hopefully soon!
OMG im praying for Voruna so bad
really want that Qorvex helmet real bad lately
Answering a question in #tennogen-showcase-your-content that is a better fit for #tennogen-creation-discussion
While there is no hard rule, if an item is 3 years or older and had not been accepted, it is safe to assume it is not coming to Warframe. At least not without a significant overhaul by its creator.
An item that was submitted years ago would have been reviewed by our internal team. The creator would have likely received feedback (though it is not always guaranteed).
Is there a chance that excal mithra could make it in the game if Luki reworks it?
yes
How do we convince luki
yeah gl with that xd
ah fair enough
Im sure luki has moved on
from the game or?
that skin
NOOOO
Also luki is busy working on another game
That is the one warframe i refuse to make skins for lol
Dang it
theres too many
And the deluxes are better anyways
its time i learn how to make skins ig
"how hard can it be" im sure ill give up in 2 days
Any projects you are working on Goosmo?
Which one was it, i saw 2 skins
I mean
I wouldn't mind making Excalibur skin
But there's just so many. Do people even want more
highly doubt, especially when over 50 other frames exists
You are the 1% of the 1% that wants an excal tennogen skin 😭
Ok
I eat cement and this is a threat
how do we know? did i miss something?
News update on website
They’ll p. announce the new skins during a Prime Time before then
oh thanks
tbf a lot of the newer Frames don’t get a lot of TennoGen I’ve noticed because they keep getting more complicated in even base designs
I looked at Cobalt’s exploded Gyre and I winced in agony
And then there is sevagoth who has many parts, but you also gotta do his shadow🥲
Complexity of the frame is not a problem for me, but often the more comple and precise mesh is, the more it locks you in a certain design direction and might result in multiple skins looking g the same at the end.
Plus sevagoths shadow cannot have different head mm which is very odd and limits creativity
But his body is semi sorta generic which helps. But frames like qprvex are both extremely complex and extremely specific, and I have no idea how I'd make it look different, so I just don't work on him
Basically, I guess what I'm saying is I'm incompetent
good
prime one can
Imo qorvex is doomed from the start, best u can do is helmets on him tbh, the concrete is the real killer
Maybe you can make a vine like texture or an infested deimos wall as his concrete but then the abilities are gonna look like concrete
Yeah but we're not allowed to remodel it
also since sev prime looks completely different how is his tennogen gonna adapt?
his prime looks like a deluxe
Which is the bs part. He can swap helmets, it's a separate model with separate texture but we're specifically told not to touch it
im guessing the later frames are hardest to adapt to tennogen
Xaku has at least one other skin available rn, so they’re not completely unapproachable. (Xaku, I mean, I’ll consume every skin for them right up)
I’ve got ideas kicking for a Corpus Qorvex, but dear lord that’s… yikes
New gunner frame looks really good too
cant wait for a graxx or infested look on him
wink wink
Yeah I'm sure I'll work
maybe a Lavos infested
also how come duviri isnt a theme for tennogen
but Entrati is
Shrug
tbf it took Entrati close to 4 years after debuting in Heart of Deimos to be an allowed Faction
I forgot about deimos
Had my Titania Necramech design kicking around since early 2021 and only recently was it able to finally be realized (thanks to the amazing and wonderful Cobalt) as something actually existing in the Workshop
So maybe Duviri will be an allowed theme in a couple years lmao
and narmer is 4
Narmer would kinda fall under Sentients in the same way Solaris do under Corpus.
I'd really love some armour pieces or syandanas that look like the Duviri architecture
or more corpus and infested
Well I found a very rotund dog
Duviri would be neat because of the Art Deco-y feel and the marbling; you could even push an action figure/toy-aesthetic if you’re skilled enough
interesting choice of language for round, could it be a western european language
or northen
no way
Speaking of that…

@solid pulsar #tennogen-showcase-your-content message
my only question is how long on average does DE take to give that feedback 🥲
Could be months, could be weeks
Just depends on their workload
And what order they are reviewing items
a guy can dream. i know there will be issues especially with my first submission. i just want to work on them sooner rather than later
👉👈
I've been waiting to see more on this, so glad it's finally up!!
These are all amazing
My first feedback was 7 months after upload, still waiting for the second feedback
Oh nooooo
Still waiting for feedback for my second and third submission
So, it takes a while, you better have patience or else its gonna drain your sanity
Noted. Appreciate it.
I HATE when people post messages where it doesn't belong.
jokes a part, it's not the right spot to speak about this

Are see through parts aloud on body's?
like gara's glass pieces?
No see through portions on the body like a see through chest or atleast a small portion of the chest or other parts
I’m fully convinced it’s impossible to make a skin for Voruna purely because of the shoulders
Im working on voruna skin, its not that bad, just takes abit more time
i think those are the easy part
Do we have any tennogen news?
no idea
Likely to be before the next update.
They said on most recent prime time that there would be more news for upcoming tennogen really soon
any time pookie ❤️
had some headphone sketches lying around, so I thought I'd take a swing at the '99 round with them.
just want to check if any 3d artists would be at all interested/have the capacity to work in this with me... maybe?
idk.
((not looking for feedback atm, once again, this is just an interest check, because I unfortunately am not proficient in 3d enough yet to make it on my own. so if nobody wants to pick it up I'll not fiddle with is further :) ))
I worked on half of my model in blender and want to mirror it over to the other half, was I supposed to do that prior to working on it or is there actually a way to mirror the work
some ideas floating around, nothing final mostly concept
my helminth charger is named zenith
for making AO maps, does tennogen have a specific type needed? HBAO or RTAO?
wait did i post my pic in the wrong spot? i was half asleep when i posted it
Since they started accepting entrati submissions, have we gotten anything vaguely entrati yet? I am still positively enchanted by the whole spiel
theres a few entries to check out on the workshop! but in terms of stuff released in game for tennogen not really
There's some active submissions in the workshop, some very nice ones. Tennogen moves slowly though. Creating the items, going through the workshop process, edits, then waiting for feedback, etc. so it may be a good number of months before any get in game if they do get accepted.
Yeah, the Entrai faction style was just made available. That's only really enough time for people to finish their first items and upload them to the workshop. The entire process from creating cosmetics until the point they're available ingame takes a really long time.
I’ll checkout the workshop later today, really hoping there’s more things for Dual secondaries
Guns aren't allowed for tennogen I'm afraid.
I didn’t know that
https://forums.warframe.com/topic/1409190-new-tennogen-arriving-august-21st-tennogen-shadows-3/ New tennogen coming in Lotus Eaters!
Tenno! The next batch of TennoGen arrives with The Lotus Eaters on August 21st. Here's a closer look at what to expect: Styanax Ares Skin, by blazingcobalt & Vis Rhodora Syandana, by led2012 & Xtygian Impaktor Fist Skin, by Travelling Merchant Heavy Blade Kuvael Ximitotix Skin by edwino22...
yay!!
we finally got your potato masher!!!
No voruna kuvael 😔
My heart beats for Voruna Kuvael
@rocky imp any news from DE on your excal Kho'Brakk?
Not yet I'm afraid.
its my fav grineer skin by far
Yeah, shocked that Voruna didn’t get any skins. Was lowkey hoping for the Miyabi skin.
Gonna eat up that Styanax, though.
Hoping we’ll get the first few Entrati items by the 1999 update, too. It’s a new faction (to TennoGen) so I imagine the floodgates will open sooner than we think.
I'm excited for whenever we get the first Qorvex tennogen.
Glad you like it!
Hopefully we hear something soon
Ye its real good imo, i need that helmet pronto for my Riot Control fashion
Hello, I would like to ask if the Alecaframe program is bannable or not.
Not related to #tennogen-creation-discussion.
This has been asked before in #1197322290166251680
@foggy juniper would you happen to be looking for a tennogen collaborator? I saw your skins in fan art and I've been hoping to find a good concept artist to model from
i haven't put a lot of thought into it, but i think it could be fun! i'm totally up for it!
I'll dm you
anyone know a work around for opening the steam workshop pages from the forums? I keep getting errors
We need a Large shoulder armor that wraps the entire shoulders.
Simular to these.👇 anyone?
Problem is that it would clip way too much
Yeah, all accessories need to be useable on all frames, and there is no way that would work with Voruna.
Might be able to get it to work with Operator/Drifter.
But... I just want something BIG and STURDY lookin :/
@radiant lodge And you know you can remove Voruna's shoulder heads right?
Well, you can always try. You might want to check the requirements for accessories. I would think it's still far too much clipping with a lot of frames, but I'm not a tennogen creator.
Now that I Think about it, caliban is the worst.. xc
it would clip with Saryn's scarf thing too
Nothing stopping you from doing it. There are some good blender tutorials in this channel. Give me a minute and I'll see if I can find them again.
this is directly from the guide of the zone you can work with
Ooooooooh I see
This post has the links to the guides and tutorials
#tennogen-creation-discussion message
I want to give it a try! Thx :)
I should try blender again. So far it is the only 3D modeling software I haven't been able to pick up. But it's also the only one I tried that wasn't for engineering.
that learning curve is rough. I'm suffering too
I've been using parametric modeling for about 15 years now, but blender is completely different.
I've learned everything in Maya, but it's way too expensive to use commercially so Blender misery it is lmao. Blender throws all the industry standard workflows out the window
I've only ever used blender. Blender is pain.
It might be better to stick to whatever you're already familiar with, unless there's a monetary reason not to. It's like going from Gimp to Clip Studio Paint.
Well I would go that far lol but yes his shoulder is problematic lol
Each 3D modeling program is pain in their own ways, just depends on how much pain you want to experience on any given day
I would stick with Maya if it wasn't $225 a month just for commercial use
I mean...
every 3d software is only as good as much effort and willingness you put into actually learning them.
which... I'm not saying is not hard.
I use blender myself. It's decent.
There are many people who are much more adept with Blender than me with Zbrush
i'm over here suffering in 3ds max
don't really know what i'm doing but it's going better than usual so far?
this isn't a hard set rule
this is the truest you can get to "guidelines that you can bend if you're skilled enough". Just look at the Piercing Eye shoulder armour
But it's best advised not to do this if you're still inexperienced as you need to learn the rules before you can successfully bend and break them
Please check channel names and descriptions.
Considering getting into making tennogen just to make the headphones of my dreams. Should I learn how to use Source Film Maker or should I learn how to use Blender to get started?
Looks like SFM uses ready made assets to make videos rather than models. I'm not sure it can be used for tennogen. Blender definitely can, I know several Tennogen creators use it.
Blender is your best bet. It's a long road, but it can be fun.
Thank you. You've helped me take a first step down a long road.
just to preface -- SFM is NOT a 3D modelling tool
it's intended for graphical rendering and animation at best, and even then you'll need some minimal knowledge of how models work in Source engine, an area of which is an added layer on top of learning SFM and Blender (for making said models)
I suppose im lucky Blender is free
Someone asked for Excalibur. I think now is decent enough time to post a WIP
It's an X-calibur. Get it. eXcalibur. Becausehe's a ... I'll go reconsider my life choices.
Is that gonna be the skin name
sigh.. im back from visiting my mom yall. now im your problem again. i think ill be revisiting dante having had some time away from him. id planned on waiting for DE to weigh in but eehhhhh..
might try to bang out my 1999 ideas first though
Yes, because "Excalibur X-calibur Skin" looks really good in the workshop
I plan to pair it with a syandana called the X File and sword called Xgon'geevet torya
it’s almost like you’re doing him for 1999. This whole lineup sounds X-TREME!
Got to cover him in straps and belts and so on
Hello TennoGen artists!
We've just released a web version of the TennoGen Workshop from TennoCon 2024!
We understand that not all TennoGen artists can attend TennoCon in person. While the workshop primarily targeted a casual & curious audience — not necessarily established artists — we respect that many TennoGen contributors wanted to know what was shown and discussed!
You can see the presentation here: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1ldy4PkH-ZcDuiBzafZL64aHU1SBCa9kv/
(Be sure to read the "Presenter Notes" and not just the slides!)
In addition to a general rundown of the TennoGen program, this presentation includes...
- Advice on self critiquing your own work, with Ernesto Alvarez (Senior Weapons Artist)
- Self reviewing a previously rejected design, with Nikita Leshakov (Principal Weapons Artist & TennoGen Supervisor)
- Self reviewing a 2015 design, with Kaz Adams (Warframe Weapons Lead & TennoGen Supervisor)
- Common reasons for rejection, and why DE might not provide feedback
- & more!
Thank you for sharing that!
The birb is coming for you now
its beautiful
I'll make it better
ye it needs more veins, and boils like grendel
you can do his tatoo on shoudelrs in veiny style
or boils
But so far its a 10/10 i love the quad axe helmet head
He will be more detailed. This is very early wip, max his chest is pretty developed.
ask faven (who has stopped makin' graxx skins)
graxx guy retired years ago
his last one was gauss
Gauss Graxx came out with Rekkou's Agito skins for Gauss too !
Has anyone considered making armor styled like Bonewidow? As in rounded, a tad rusty, and with an almost floral design in paint patterns. The shoulders could use the Edo shoulders for reference, and I have a feeling that the chest plate could be based on Bonewidow's sheild or use the Kuva Zevokk as a reference. (Pictures of references included)
It might go well with a more regal, Orikin inspired syandana
rounded, a tad rusty and with [...] floral designs
that's basically just Entrati faction style in general which in itself is pretty different from regular Orokin. While nobody has made Entrati armour based specifically on Bonewidow, you have to consider that the Entrati faction style just got accepted for TennoGen and it'll take time before people start to really explore this theme. Give it some time, TennoGen moves really slowly currently.
True, my question is more along the lines of "is anyone thinking about starting a project like this," just tossing ideas out to anyone who might consider it.
Technically exists baro sells armour like bonewidows some time
@dusty tapir @ivory radish these are just generally Entrati but not specifically based on Bonewidow
Lubox has something along those lines, iirc.
But beyond that, not aware of anything else. No Entrati-themed items have been accepted yet and there’s not that many out there on the Workshop right now.
Does that mean that we can technically finally expect necramech skins
no. Rallen was talking about the entratit faction style for warframe skins
only because a faction theme is being allowed into Tennogen production wouldn't immediately mean that a whole new category of complex """equipment""" merely related to that faction is in any way expected
well that's just sad
I'm sure there are a lot of people that would enjoy skins for necramechs
I would like to think we'd finally get to make TennoGen suits for Operators/Drifters (using the Zariman suit as a base) before getting skins for Necramechs, imho. Saying that as someone who likes Necramechs, too.
If nothing else, TennoGen suits would go a long, long way to improving the overall options available (and mismatched mats) for Ops/Drifters.
I would love to do an operator outfit
As an Excalibur enjoyer I'm going to eat this up
Need more infested skins imo. So fabulous work
operator skin would be nice, yeah, but based on the frameworks of the rest of the tennogen system I don't think they're gonna be happening
we don't really have a uniform base-mesh like for warframes. outfits would need to be made from scratch and from a testing standpoint that a lot more work
...not to mention them needing to be scaled up and adjusted to drfiter bodies
maaaaaaybe custom tenno helmets, but that wont really help a lot with the overall landscape of the fashion
I really don't think so. Necramech isn't that much popular.
it's like makin' a lot of skins for archwing / K drives/ Railjack. it doesn't make that much sens to make a lot of skins for thoses sinces a few person really enjoys it and plays a lot with these.
I get the idea but theres literally only one skin for necramech (well two but one is away for god knows how long) that's kinda reductive, I agree on the idea of drifters/operators but they already have a lot of customization
we can't do anything about this. It'll cost too much for tennogen to make for having a few person to buy those.
I mean I'd like to make a gigantic infested mech, even if it's not used often.
I might statistically speaking not eat for a week, and nobody's going to buy it, but you know. It's kinda cool. But we don't have the files, design doc, or permission for that matter, so it is what it is.
I had a question on how tennogen naming conventions are come up with? if there are resources that talk about tennogen naming conventions where might i find it?
It's literally whatever sounds nice
there are no naming conventions for TennoGen except what you want it to be
Please check channel names and descriptions.
operator/drifter suit tennogen would be amazing, but also a huge commitment for everyone involved since it's 4 meshes that need to be rigged, plus hundreds of armor and syandana offsets for both versions of the drifter suit
there's not a lot they could do to save time on that, maybe include prerigged gloves that can't be altered just to save some time there? but even that would be pretty minor
custom textures for a prebuilt drifterator suit would be easier for them to deal with but pretty limiting.
Hello?
Does anyone know if Tennolive will be tomorrow or if that was just last year?
Hello?
tennolive was a month ago
not the right channel 2 talk about this
Wasn't it this month?
no
I thought this was talking about tennolive, because of the name.
Mmmm okay.
well next time take the time of looking what the meaning of things plz
@zenith flax Thank you though!! let's talk here rather than in the showcase
o, yee i always forget about this channel
Also it's kinda weird, the link works but dosn't embed in discord, and also I don't see the glasses on the most recent or last updated submissions on the workshop
But yea I love the style, and I love items that utilize the in-game languages, it's perfect- And it's something that'd work for a few different aesthetics really well.
plus i'm just a big fan of the matrix too so, the inspiration is perfect hdfghdfgj
Yeah I am having the same issue -- I don't know why it is doing that, maybe just give it some time.. because it's nothing on my end
Probably a delay/steam checking and approving or something
Oh, me too! -- Huge fan of it 🙂 Thank you for the kind words!
Although usually the link dosn't work during that process? But I only know from like, collections, and workshops for games with a more traditional workshop
Yeee :3
Yeah, I have no idea -- all I can do is watch it
I'll resubmit it if I have to.. but I think it will go through in a while
Shouldn't take more than an hour under normal circumstances, I think
It's working now
Nice, I figured it was just steam processing, yee
ayy thank you again for the kind words! I gotta jet though!
Of course! :3
Hey everyone. I am a concept and 3d artist, making my first tennogen props. I am polishing the sculp but looking on the rules and regulations to textures and tints I am so much confused. There are not that much videos or tutorials to show that part. So anyone has any tips?
What part are you stuck on with textures?
I didn't started texturing yet but I am confused about the part to make it able to be changed in game
Ah it’s just a lot of layers in photoshop really
Substance painter will also make the tint map should you set it up correctly
Just like masks right? Most of the texturing will do in blender, but any retouches will be in Photoshop
There is a bit more to it
The tints are packed into the separate RGB channels and then tint 4 is the alpha channel
how are you texturing in blender? i'm just curious, because it's so......not-artist-friendly at times
Depends on the model or style but how I do it is, the base colors or more simple ones in blender and then details on Photoshop.
Sometimes I do it all in blender if I can't managed some details on Photoshop
What are the best first resurgence ephemera or is there a page to see them all?
what does this have to do with tennogen?
did you really translate "prime" resurgence as "first" resurgence?
also this the completely wrong channel to ask this @foggy trench
Trying to come up with a tennogen concept similar to the Blade of the Lotus skins, but with more emphasis on bigger armor parts, plumage on helmets , and a style similar to the Dex operator suit. I want to call it the Shield of the Council (referring to the Council of Executors in Orikin history). I'll draw up a true concept later for Rhino. Any thoughts on this?
Finished concept in showcase
I don't think just doing the same skin again just slightly different is a good idea
I also don't really see the benefit of this and so far it's just a generic knight looking thing and no sign of the dex operator suit you wanted to use as a style basis
The dex suit is why in my actual concept, the eyes glow and the crest is aflame. I wanted to go more in-depth on a Knight-style skin, but am trying not to copy BoTL too much. I think that much like different styles in actual armor, there should be skins of similar genres, but they should have there own design choices. With that being said, I could definitely work on my execution to produce something more unique.
but am trying not to copy BoTL too much.
you probably shouldn't copy it at all
I’d say push for Dax rather than Dex
Fits the general concept you’re interested in more with a more stylized type of armour that fits the game better
Good Idea, I'll see what I can do with that
Can still experiment with plumage etc but collect a bunch of reference images first and use the details and shapes you find in the in game Dax items and see what fits rhinos general topology
Alright, will do. Maybe I'll come back with something better
Yeah, it’s one thing to have multiple Grineer faction skins, but BotL is one artist’s particular concept.
I was making sure that this was my own, I actually used BoTL as a reference specifically so I could make a knight skin without copying him, thoughit seems, based on feedback, that I have failed
I'll make a new concept in time that fits better, not only with lore, but my vision for what this is supposed to be
And this time, hopefully not plagiarizing to any degree
Also, quick question for all, what are the similarities between BoTL and my concept (pics of both included), aside from using a knight as a reference for a Rhino skin? This way, I have a better idea of what went wrong.
The talk about similarities was mostly before people looked at the actual concept I think.
The thing is, warframe has an extremely strict art style for tennogen items. If it doesn't fall under a pre approved faction it won't be accepted.
Right now, your concept is just quite simply a knight. While is this still really cool, it would need a warframe spin on things to fit the game better.
Alright, maybe I should take a hint from Excal's Mordred helm in terms of style, add some more organic paint patterns, and more emissive spots. Would that be a decent direction?
That's keeping in mind that excalibur and rhino share the horn motif in their helmets
Indeed. Keep in mind the base model of rhino can't be edited, only the helmet. You mostly have, but little areas are different. That may just be down to art style though.
Consider how each part of the mesh flows
That's me trying and failing to draw rhino XD
I'm well aware of his base model, and the fact that the body can't change. I'm just trying to make a concept to really work on when I have the time and knowledge to do so.
Also warframes aren't allowed to have eyes unless it's grineer really.
Minor exceptions like mirage
Hmmm, once more, I'll probably look to the mordred helm for inspiration there. It has a distinct lack of eyes, but the illusion of space behind the visor. Besides, eyes might hinder rhino...
I'll keep this in mind for tomorrow, and I'll try to post a redesign. Along with looking over the art guide again to see which faction style gets me closer to a knightly feel, without breaking lore too much
This is because I also see a lack of larger or medium size armors akin to the Edo shoulders or kuva chest plates. I just need to find a style for something like that
Is the Dax style allowed...?
👀
I know Orokin isn't really allowed, so probably not
Maybe if you stylize it since Orokin and Tenno have similarities
yep because that's exactly the same thing, since we got how many frames that have more than one Grineer skin? Exactly, none. My issue wasn't that it's another knight skin, it's that it's another knight skin for the frame that already has a knight skin.
It isn't allowed? I thought it was. Good that I changed to sentient style
Gold is not allowed as it's reserved for Orokin, but you can easily make something that looks orokin and just paint it silver.
Which came out after he got his first knight skin, the palatine... also, I have yet to see anyone in the workshop try their hand at a newer style of grineer skin. As I said, I think there should be different flavors of the same genres as it adds more choice for each player.
at least exactly one
despite being from same artist
I wanna say two things about that:
- I'm not sure if I would classify Rhino Palatine as a "knight", both in look and theme, but regardless, Deluxe skins are their own thing in every regard and should not be counted in discussions about TennoGen.
- If we do count Rhino Palatine as a knight themed skin and do count him in this discussion, doesn't that just mean giving him a third knight themed skin even more excessive?
yeah but that's the thing, Faven effectively made a 2.0 version of that skin. He didn't make a new one. Idk what the deal and conditions with DE were that allowed him to do this tho, so it might as well have been an exception they're not going to repeat.
kuvael series are also a thing
Thing is, I remembered that there are two Warframes that each has two TennoGen skins that are technically considered Grineer
guess we've just thought of the same thing
precisely Ivara and Mirage Graxx/Kuvael
but
I would like to point out that Erneix doesn't just do Grineer skins, the Kuvael line is based specifically on the Kuva Fortress units, which alone makes the designs very different from Graxx, thematically speaking, even though they are technically both Grineer. I obviously can't speak for Erneix but I can imagine that the idea for Kuvael was that they're meant to be as different from Faven's Graxx skins as he could make them without deviating from the base theme too much.
So far this new Rhino knight skin concept hasn't been able to convince me that enough thought has been put into it to really differentiate it from BotL, especially not since it was stated that inspiration has been taken from BotL when instead the opposite should've been done with the new skin being as far away from BotL as it can be. Just like with Kuvael. Either that or maybe @little bone should look into making a knight skin for a Warframe that doesn't have one yet, that way it wouldn't clash with anything already existing even if it's relatively close in visuals to the Blade of the Lotus skin series.
I'm working on a redesign based on the constructive criticism. I still intend to use a knight theme, but I'll be looking at what DE has already put into the game. At the end of the day, it's not up to us if it gets added, at least I'll know that I tried to put forth an idea for a game I love. To add onto this, instead of simply telling people that they can't do something, give solutions or direct them to the #tennogen-resources channel. Help them find their style, don't just shut them down.
Thank y'all for the feedback, I'll see about posting a redesign sometime soon.
I think there's a significant difference between what I said and shutting you down
True, that was more of a general statement.
sorry if I misunderstood you
since it was a direct reply I thought that was directed at me
Understandable. But I will be working on a redesign and trying to separate it as much as I can from Blade of the Lotus. I'm thinking of the helm as similar to Excal's Mordred helm, but shaped more like a ship's prow, accentuating the horn. The body will change, but I'll have to see what I can do with it. Perhaps a chain maile texture in open spots, or metallic plating. I'm still thinking of a good style that I could carry to other frames. Plumage will definitely stay a prominent feature though.
definitely sounds like a plan
Don't use old skins as examples, kaz even critiqued her own old tennogen skins at tennocon, explaining how they would not be accepted today, same goes for Nikita's skins
There were alot less skins back then, meaning higher demand and more forgiving rules
Skins from 2019 and up are fine imo
I'm posting the revision in the #tennogen-showcase-your-content channel
Apologies for it's low quality, I used what I have...
Btw, this time I was basically just using the tennogen guide, and deciding what might look cool for rhino
which ones are the old tennogens made by Kaz?
I think Excalibur's Pendragon helmet was the one they showed, and a Rhino helmet that never got approved.
Oohh that's the one, I mixed up the name, yea
would have been rejected today
Why can't Orvius Dax skin be used on other glaives?
With slight modification, that might fit the sentient style, but it'd be a big stretch...
But, then again, it was made in a different time...
not tennogen related.
Where would I ask a question like that then?
#1197322290166251680 literally exists but for questions this small #warframe-general might also be ok. But this channel is just absolutely the wrong place
i got some tennogen questions that i cant find answers for in resources
what program should i use to make the models
is tyere a specific one i need to use?
no
what do yall recommend using?
if you're not familiar with 3D modeling at all, you should start with something basic like blender
there's a plethora of tutorials out there
guys is there a ticket or an support channel
baffles me how people don't bother looking before asking #1197322290166251680
