The new update to the creative cloud is Not an improvement. The update slows down work flow and is slow to respond, then shuts down to restart unlike the old drop down menu. It does not help my business. Please do something soon to change it.

@summer furnace In this example I played with blendmodes. But with white text, it doesn,'t work because of the way blend mode works (see tutorial of Jesus Ramirez of PTC https://photoshoptrainingchannel.com/blending-modes-explained/). In this example I have the grey text in the light lighter and more yellow with the screen mode and the grey text darker and more blue with the multiply mode. Both layer in clipping maks mode (to apply only on the text). I have done a print screen of my photoshop window so you can see what I'm talking about.
You can do th same with images.
I hope this helps.

if you're on a mac, open the preferences and go to general. you should see this option

Here's what you do. Open the Channels panel and CTRL click on the alpha channel. This will load the channel into a selection. Then go back to the layers panel, select the layer and click on the layer mask icon

This will create a layer mask. The image should now be transparent in the correct areas

you can now save it as a PNG

I'm sorry about yesterday, but i couldn't give any feedback because i was sleeping.
Don't forget there is a BIG time shift, because we are all participating around the world, so sometimes it's hard to follow each update.
Moreover, there was so many submission, maybe your creation vanished in the flow, that happens.

About your past challenge (Day 6), the composition seems a lot better ! The mockup is well used this time too, but you are missing again the back cover, it's a bit sad imo.
Just a question, does "Stephen KIng" correctly alligned with the book name ? I got the feeling it's not center.

About the current challenge, i like it too, but i wonder if you could twicked the baby face a bit more with Dodge / Burn, as Jesùs show during his live.

then you make sure to tick this checkbox

keep in mind, the GIF format only supports binary transparency. So either a pixel is fully transparent or fully opaque. You can't export at 50% opacity for example

Seems like your computer isn’t recognizing that you have a hard drive to boot off of? It’s telling you to check that it’s connected properly

I’m not the best with the tech stuff, but I’m not sure if that could be a sign that your hard drive is dying, or maybe something just went wrong with how the system is trying to boot up

@silver trout Depends on the software, On Ps you basically need to use a clipping mask, on Ai you need to redraw the cape and mask the shape
You can also Do a 3D model and do what ever with it textures, images etc...
it depends on your skills and the software you daily use

@sonic oracle hm yeah, I know that feeling - but remember, just because you bought a guitar doesn't mean you will get paid gigs instantly. Sure, that one guitar model is probably the industry standard and many famous musicians are using this one guitar, but they too had to practice. If you want to quit your current job you will have to pour in days, weeks, months of work. So my advice would be to keep pushing

Are RAW images always darker and with much noise?

@barren tangle not always. but since they do not have any exposure information, they won't look right until you process them (in Camera Raw or Lightroom). The images you're used to are usually jpgs for which the processing happens inside the camera.

Noise can be more visible since no denoising algorithm is applied. Some of the noise also disappears when developing the images

Can we just take a moment to appreciate the fact that the Adobe Residency Program is insanely limiting? Like, I am honestly tired of reading of these amazing, sensational initiatives (not talking about just Adobe here), to then find out you have to be from one of like five countries, born under a red moon on the the day the planets align? It's just kinda sad 😦

Truly worldwide would be a dream, but that would probably be unmanageable unless they devised separate programs for different regions (which would actually be quite cool)

@valid star I know some of the people behind the residency program and trust me, they're really working hard to make this program happen. Some of them are basically constantly travelling to organize live streams, one on one mentoring sessions & conference events with the residents, all while doing their normal jobs. Having said all that.... yes, I wish the residency program was open to more places in the world - I guess we'll just have to be patient 🙂

I have found that many residency programs are limited. This is actually the first one I've seen (I could be wrong) that is in so many countries. The Adobe residency is still young, five years, I think, so I expect it will grow as it goes along.

It's all good. the challenge is basically to use the tools for the challenge, you should be able to use whatever materials you want in association with the tools, but make sure to use the in today's case, it's Clone stamp, Healing stamp, and Camra raw tools. Check the size of your image in pixels. Since you can only upload 5mb without Nitro on Discord, you might need to shrink it down to 1000x1000px. If it’s still over 5mb then this might be a DPI issue. Your DPI for online uploads should be 72 rather than 300. You can alter all this by going to edit > image size.

@burnt arrow good points, but if you scale an image down to 1000x1000px, the DPI is irrelevant since Discord isn't limiting the physical dimensions of the content 🙂

I tend to use Export As, then just take it to .5x or .75x, whichever Discord doesn't yell at me for. (Top left of the Export As window)

@burnt arrow it only makes sense to reduce the dpi if you are working with physical measurements (like inches or centimeters) because Resolution ≠ dimensions. This might be a bit confusing since Photoshop will also change the px measurements if you change the dpi

but if you set the actual dimensions back to the original size of 1000x1000px, it will have the same file size

the resolution is only important if you are combining different images with different resolutions or if you are planning on printing the file

the file size won't change if the actual pixels stay the same

Hi @blazing vector , sorry to butt into your convo but I think you’re both getting confused between dpi and ppi. PPI is used to measure the resolution on a digital image whereas DPI is the amount of ink dots on a printed image and is relevant only when discussing printers, there can be multiple dots of ink in a printed pixel. @stoic bane If you want something portable (everyday carry just go shoot etc) I would recommend an aps-c mirrorless such as Fuji xt100 or Sony Alpha
If you're looking for a small dslr with no cost my guess would be a Canon 2000D
If you don't care about weight you can go for nikon D3200/5200
If you don't care about weight and you really want to get into photography D7100/D7200 is the way to go :)

Those colors are nice, but the logo in the bottom left doesn't fit the rest of the design. Can it be brought in line with it? Also the S and R have some bad tangents with the shoes.

Overall the layout is nice, I like the balance between top and bottom, and the alignment with the vertical text to the bottom of the center.

You might also give the vertical text some breathing room away from the edges. It looks a bit cramped.

Hey guys, is anyone familiar with the program Encore CS6? This software came up when I was looking for a way to burn a DVD with Premiere, I've never heard of it

@blissful lance Adobe Encore was an app for creating DVDs, DVD menus and layered scenes. Adobe Encore CS6 was the last release and Encore has now been discontinued. I don't think you can actually buy it from Adobe anymore. Perhaps through 3rd party vendors, which always involves a certain level or risk. I decided to join the fun! This was a baby giraffe at Disney's Animal Kingdom. I know that I have photos of them necking but cannot find them. FYI - necking for giraffes is when they whack each other with their necks. It's usually a juvenile dominance thing but I will say it is hilarious to watch! 😍

Yet I see some comments right below the photo/ post they are commenting on so it appears it is possible.
