If by "clear" you mean "delete" any "orphaned" Photoshop scratch files... That would be something different.
Close Photoshop. Then search Windows for "Photoshop Temp" and see if it finds any leftover temp files.
It would be a filename like: (Photoshop Temp with a long string of numbers, e.g. Photoshop Temp343202029202
If you find any of those, it would be safe to delete them as long as Photoshop is not open/running, i.e. closed.

If I'm "versioning" with Photoshop, I just save a new file: filename_v1.01.psd, filename_v1.0.2.psd, etc. But I don't generally save that many iterations to worry about it.

I have been using adobe since about 2004 I think that was photoshop 6. I would highly recamend watching the daily challenge and the videos that where on at that time : Tracie Ching , Dave Arcade, Aldo Crusher, Rob zilla. actually if you go to their youtuube channel and search for "Illustration " there are Loades of good ones .
and for photoshop i would say check out: Sasha Vinogradova, Aaron Nace from "Phlearn "
