Hey guys I got Adobe Photoshop 2024 and a 13th Gen Intel® Core™ i9-13980HX. I tried to look up onto my task manager and Photoshop takes up 25% of CPU utilization on average, yet I'm not even doing anything. No pictures imported, anything, I just merely opened Photoshop. Do you think this is okay or is my specs still not enough?

It should be OK but you need to configure it in the Preferences (check that link I sent)

No need to do anything on the GeForce experinece app, just be sure you choose Studio over "game" for a better experience

Photoshop is idle with an open file and it does that to me as well

but shouldn't be a problem if you give it enough memory usage to work on, set the GPU properly (same section in the preferences)

It happens, particularly when you open photoshop. There is a lot of calculations and internet accesses in the first stages of the app opening and settles after a bit, even if you have big pictures open

Improve the resolution? What does that mean? You want to upscale it? You can't invent pixel detail that wasn't already there unless you use some sort of A.I. to add fake details. If you want more "actual/real" resolution, take the photo using a camera with a better sensor.

There might be certain size limitations with free accounts.

I would create a rough selection (as close as you can with either selection tools or the Remove Background action) and then use and refine a Layer Mask to drop the background. Then use a Solid Color fill as a background layer.

yo quick question, not used photoshop for a week and i’ve just opened a template to create something over it, and for some reason whenever i paste anything, it pastes into a new layer, i’ve never had this issue before and cannot figure out why it’s doing it

Generally, things are pasted into new Layers. You can always merge layers afterwards.

The Pen Tool creates vector shapes. What is on the layer you're pasting to? If its a pixel-based layer, that will be problematic. It will probably try to paste it with a vector mask and the pixels will likely be hidden.

yeah thanks I just looked through my computer storage settings and it looks like I have the 2023 and 2024 versions installed for both of them..

but when i try to delete the 2023 illustrator version it tells me I have to close the app before I can uninstall it even though the app isnt open; anyone have any fixes for this?

Try stopping it through Task Manager. Sometimes apps are sneaky.

If you can't uninstall it via standard methods, e.g. the Creative Cloud app or Windows Programs and Features, Adobe does make a CC Cleaner and you could do a full uninstall of everything. Then do a clean reinstall of all the apps in your plan. I would only do the latter as a last resort though. Or if no other methods work.

Not sure I understand the ask. You can add a Color Fill as a layer at anytime. If you can provide a more clear description or example, we might be able to suggest something.

You would probably have to either locate, create or generate a square slice of cake and then try to copy a portion of the top from your cake image and manipulate it so it fits on top of the [new] cake slice image.

Remove the strokes from all your shapes: the blue corners, circular play button, the white triangle etc. Next make sure you are masking the image by using a rounded rectangle to clip it, the original one you are trying to duplicate has rounded edges not sharp, adjust your gradient with the light end starting first and then drag from the top of your rectangle down

I’m afraid this use case scenario may be a bit out of my wheel house but I have printed some big things before. What exactly are you trying to put on the billboard? most billboard images are printed from a high res yes, but they are able to get away with printing at really low PPI rates because of the distance

TLDR I wish lightroom with the new offline editing option let you save a local copy down from the cloud rather than only having the option to archive and pull them out.

I have about 100-200 designs that I need to make, based on a template, including an image, a name and a quote.

Each design is an individual person, and I'm looking for a way to automate the process to surveying for this information (name, photo, quote) and automatically translating this into a design.

1/ Variables (you can populate a template with informations on a spreadsheet)
2/ Layer comps (you can change elements of a design by choosing from a list.
These are not one click solutions and will require a bit of planning, but I am sure it will help greatly

It seems like you'll have to do the scribbles with a fine Brush. Then use a Layer Mask with subtle gradient to fade the photo from transparent to opaque.

The person who designed the things could've designed them to be on a dark background or who knows what the intent was.

And no, in games, developers apply a dull layer on sprites so they wont be useable, and when they're processed into the game, a thing called a "shader" removes the dullness

I think last year they were offering a pretty decent discount to heavy users. (33%+)- I too was paying around £40 per user, (I pay for 17 licenses per month)

So I think my standard price was about £60, so with a 3rd off, it was costing £40....
Then... shortly after signing, they offered the 'Plus' subscription (for free) which included access to the stock library, which usually costs about an extra £10 a month per user.

This means that this year, with the discount removed, and the** 'plus' subscription still applied**, I imagine this would make it look like the price has jumped from £40 to £70+.

Most discounts are for first time users, you might have gotten a 30% off as a first time user without even asking. Then of course, since the discount is only valid for a year, the next year you'll switch back to the normal price everyone has to pay, which is around £55 in the UK
Now, you're absolutely welcome to haggle with customer service, and I've always been quite successful in doing so, although there is no guarantee obviously

Other avenues you can look at are: If you bought either a graphic card from Nvidia or a new computer, Nividia runs promos on a very regular basis where you can have 3 month for free. Same with Logitech, and a few others, so always check what you can redeem on the hardware brand website, it's sometimes not advertised

These promo codes are not generally tied with being a first time user, so you can just enter the promo code to your account and skip a couple of months easily.

Can anyone explain to me what "1 device in a lifetime" when I'm buying PS Element. Is it bounded to my PC and reinstalling it or getting a new PC means buying another license or is it transferable but limit to just 1 device at a time?

I don't have any experience with Elements, but extrapoling from the other licences (although it's different since elements is not a subscription), I would say it's more one device at the time (as in not installed on 2 PC)
That said, we aren't Adobe employees so it would be difficult to give you an absolute answer on that. The best bet would be to contact Adobe directly (they have a webchat)

I was removing a white background from a design using magic wand select and inverting then adding a layer mask. However there are still these white circles in the text that I cant seem to get rid of. Should be fairly straightforward but anyone know how to do it?

That is super easy, use any of those lasso tools, but they are called something else, I don't have PS CC anymore installed, I guess you can just use the magic wand inside those areas, select, hit delete, done

If all you want to do is shift the color, you could use an Adjustment Layer on a Group of objects.... OR... you could use a Layer Style > Color Overlay... set the Blend Mode of the style to "Color." Then you could easily copy that Layer Style to other Layers.

There are several different approaches to this.

If you Group the Layers, you could use an Adjustment Layer > Hue/Saturation and shift the color. Then clip that adjustment to the Group. That's another way.

I don't know what makes the most sense for your project.

What I was driving at earlier was, if you just create the rect and apply the Bevel Layer Style and make it a Smart Object. Then you'd just make copies of it. Then when you edit the Smart Object, all of the other instances would pick up the changes. That's probably the "smartest" way to do it.
