Quick question, I tried to see if anybody asked this before or if there's any published information but came up with nothing - seeing as I already own every other single book, paying full price for MotM stings a little, especially when a significant portion of it is just "refitted".

Is there: no. Mordenkainen Presents: Monster of the Multiverse is a separate, independent product containing races and stat blocks that exist along side their legacy counterparts. Even if it contained identically republished content, there would still not be a discount which is in line with previous books with overlapping content (for example, Tomb of Annihilation contains stat blocks that were published prior in Volo's Guide to Monsters, owning Volo's did not give you a discount on Tomb of Annihilation). Content discounts only apply for purchases made from the book itself

The origin manager also claims the previous increase was in constitution instead of wisdom

I thought we used to be able to add more spells than what the rules say? I have a homebrew that allows my wizards to learn additional cantrips and they cannot add additional cantrips to themselves in beyond

You're misremembering

It was possible, through a glitch in the sheet, to over prepare spells

But it's not possible to modify base class abilities such as number of cantrips known

You need to go to the character builder and manage the HP from there, adjusting the HP through the sheet is for temporary changes to the max HP, not to set the baseline AFAIK.

Heads Up - some of you may have had some small 500/Undead Beholder errors when loading pages over the last 30 minutes. I have a character with a couple of hand axes and a shield, with both Dueling and Two Weapon Fighting (intending the character to be able to fight with one weapon and a shield or two weapons effectively). However, the damage calculation appears to be adding the +2 Dueling bonus even when I have two weapons equipped? Str mod is +2, and both axes are showing +4 damage. Following advice from one of the DDB threads, I tried customizing one axe to be tagged as dual wield, which did move it to the bonus action section, but both still show a +4 to damage.

Hmmm, Im trying to remember, but I think this is a known gap. Generally I've not seen characters built where they take both, they either focus on one or two weapons. You can customize the damage bonus on the bonus action attack to have the correct damage. If you wanted both options for the main hand attack, you'd need two entries. The idea I've always gone with the sheet is you only equip what they are holding/wearing at that time - rather than leaving a full list of weapons

First thing to check is that any replies haven't been sent to your spam folder; some email clients do that
Additionally, you haven't submitted any additional tickets since the first one a week ago, right? Submitting more tickets can push you back down the queue

From what I can see, the system is only configured to apply a persistent modifier of carrying capacity up to large size. This would be inline with the fact there are no races that permanently have a carrying capacity above large (as PC races only go to medium) and no items that grant a capacity increase.
Due to the system being set up to support official content first and foremost, that's likely the reason the system doesn't have a modifier to raise the carrying capacity size modifier above large

Well that makes sense. Still, the fact that the option is there is confusing. There's specifically multiple ways to set Carrying Capacity and Creature Size above Large, they just don't actually work.

The options likely exist for other, non-PC race purposes. One of the quirks of the homebrew tools being forked from the content entry tools is that there are modifiers that can be combined, but don't do anything when combined

I'm not sure exactly how they make the tools, but technically there's plenty of "official" ways for PC's to become Huge sized right. A Goliath could become Huge for 24 hours and have Gargantuan Carrying Size if it drank a Potion of Giant Size for instance. There's some class features and spells that can make you Huge too.

Though not permanent, 24 hours is long enough to be nice if you could see your new Carrying Capacity

Though there's probably a lot of technical stuff involved I suppose

Hi there, I am new here and I was hoping to get some help. I have a player that isn't very good about clicking on their animal companion to see what it can do for actions and abilities. So I am trying to add them as custom made bonus actions for her so it's easier for her to know what she can do. Problem is that Maul attacks include the proficiency bonus (which changes as the players level up). Is there a way to add your proficiency bonus to the damage rolls with custom attacks? Clicking Proficient to the attack doesn't seem to do anything for the damage roll . If this isn't possible I will just force her to read the descriptions for once.

Checking “Proficient” only adds to the attack roll. You can enter a value equal to your proficiency bonus in “Fixed Value”; you’ll just need to remember to adjust it when your PB changes.

If there’s a browser setting or extension interfering, trying it in another browser may circumvent that issue.

And if it does, then you can start to look for what caused the issue in the first one.

I think I figured it out. I was trying to go from top to bottom on the order form. Choosing the payment option before pressing the Place an order button. This time I did it back to front, I pressed place order first and at the bottom of the next page it had the button for payment option. Now it shows the notification Authorizing with account [e-mail] It still shows one item in the cart but I will just wait a bit to see if it gets processed.

Just to clarify, shared character options are available only for characters assigned to the campaign that’s sharing them.

Since the homebrew system is not part of any campaign, you won’t find any shared options there. You need to own the spell yourself.

The restriction Aud mentioned only applies to published homebrew. You can add any spell you own to your homebrew; you simply won’t be able to publish it if it contains content outside of the Basic Rules. It will work just fine for private use.

Anyway, FWIW, I could view the sheet from my iPad and also was able to send to Google Drive and view with Acrobat. I have heard of folks having trouble with apostrophes in file names. Could you try changing the name slightly to remove that?

You’ll need to add a Modifier with Type: Damage, Subtype: (whatever damage type you need), and the appropriate starting damage dice.

You might also need to add one or more At Higher Levels entries.

You can look at any cantrip that deals damage if you want a comparison. Acid Splash or Fire Bolt, for example, are both available in the free Basic Rules.

Minor Illusion is part of the free Basic Rules, so it shouldn’t be an access issue. It might not have been added to the homebrew properly.

3. "okie dokie" clicks manage character + levels and changes level to 2

5. "huh, I thought it was already 16" sets it back to level 1 to double check

9. "what the..." sets it back to lvl 1

a level 1 cleric with +2 con should have 10 HP (you always take the hit dice max at level 1)
level 2 you would have 17 HP if you took the average, or 10+rolled number+2

So the math adds up based on what’s there, at least.

But I’m not sure why adjusting your level would change that. Does the same issue occur in another browser or on another device?

If I had to guess what happened, I'd think that you had the correct HP at level 1 before (10) and then at level 2 you applied your manual roll, but when you went back to level 1 it must have applied the manual roll to level 1, or something like that

So if you rolled a 4 on your hit die, you'd have 16 HP at level 2

That “Rolled HP” box should be the total you’ve rolled for all levels.

So Clerics start with a d8, which means that box should have had an 8 to start.

If you roll 4 for level 2, you’d add that to the existing number, so the box would now have a 12.

Then your CON mod gets added automatically (another +4 for your character, for a grand total of 16).

We do not own MotM, so my DM is currently out of luck

You need Homebrew Content enabled for that character, but the rest depends entirely on the rules the spell falls under. If it’s just added to their class spell list and the spell is already assigned to that class, it should just show up when they choose their spells as normal.

I found this awesome homebrewed fighter subclass online and I transcribed it into DDB (just for my own private use, not for publishing or taking credit). It’s a third-caster, like an Eldritch Knight. I transcribed the subclass’ homebrewed spells into DDB as well and added them to the “additional specific spells” list, but they don’t show up on my character sheet. You guys have an idea what I might be doing wrong?

I have a small issue i'd like solving :
I own TCoE. One of my player, a fighter, doesn't have access to all the fighting styles, only those from the PHB. I have activated the "optional class features" in the "home" tab of character creation, and in the "class" tab I did check the box in front of "Fighting styles options".
Despite all of that, only the six base options from PHB appear in the "Fighting style" feature.
Any thoughts ? Thanks ! 🙂

Right, I didn't say it, but it was me trying to edit the character, not the player. That's how I could add the optional features from TCoE, but still, only basic fighting styles. When you say "manually pick", you just meant I edit the player's character sheet myself, right ? Or is there a step I totally missed ?

Hello Everyone! I don't know if this has been asked about previously but I just recently purchased a 3rd party campaign, Journey to Ragnarok. I was curious if anybody might be able to help with building it? From what i'm reading in the handbook it appears to be a mishmash of Wizard, Cleric, and Druid. Basically it has its own spell list but there are Cleric and Druid spells listed in it. I started creating it in DDB as a subclass but not sure if I'm creating it correctly. So I have been making an item, a weapon specifically and I was trying to switch the damage Dice I used the replace Damage Dice and set the one I wanted but when I equip it it hasn't changed.

There’s not really a way to change the damage dice for a weapon. You might have more luck setting it up as a custom action directly on the character sheet.

Just go to the Actions tab and hit “Manage Custom” in the top right corner.

Since Volo's Guide to Monsters and Mordekainen's Tome of Foes is no longer available for purchase, I can't lookup legacy stuff on Avrae anymore since I don't have them in my DDB account, which sucks. Is there a way to make it so that Legacy content is free to lookup on Avrae, similar to PHB stuff?

Yes. I assume you are doing this through a homebrew race. If not, you'll need to. Add a racial trait for this, and give it a modifier. That modifier type will be "Carrying Capacity" and the subtype will be the size category you want it to be treated as. This is how races like Goliath and Bugbear handle their "powerful build" traits

Is there a way to make a full caster subclass for a martial class in DnD Beyond? I've made a rogue subclass that gives spellcasting and selected SPELL PREPARE TYPE Level which says it would give a "full spell casting table (like Wizard)" but the subclass acts like a 1/3rd caster like arcane trickster when I try to build a character with it.

(And yes, I know it would be super OP to make a martial class a full caster as well. I'm playing in a heavily homebrewed campaign were everyone has magic. I gave up on this a year ago when I first joined the game and used a Roll 20 sheet instead, but our new player wants to use D&D Beyond, and honestly, so would I if I could just figure this out.)

There is no way to do this as there is no full caster martial so the system is not set up to accept that option

It applies across the board; the system is set up to support official content first and foremost; if there isn't an official version similar to what you're trying to do, the system likely won't be able to support it to the same degree as it does with official options

On the main page for your subclass, look for a field called Additional Specific Spells. It works differently for each class, but for a wizard, it will add it to their spell list.

Alternatively, you can add them inside a class feature under Additional Spell List.

When I make a Homebrew subclass for Druids it says "This homebrew Subclass does not have the necessary class features with the correct required levels.", even though all I did was replace the descriptions and modifiers etc., is there a problem on my end somehow or is here maybe a work around?

You need to include a 3rd level feature, even though druids don't technically have one

I say technically because Circle of the Land makes a choice at third level, so the system expects a feature at that level

The combat tracker will give them a letter to separate each one. So after you've started the encounter, you'll have Bandit (A), Bandit (B), Bandit (C), and Bandit (D)

Sort of. For Fighter/Rogue/Blood Hunter, you can add a class feature called “Spellcasting” or “Pact Magic”. The slots you get follow the official spellcasting subclass for that class.

But there’s not a way to manually control spell slot progression for any class.

PHB is a good purchase, and definitely recommended to anyone that wants to play. But you technically could get by with just the basic rules
