Unfortunately magic items aren't currently able to add actions, bonus actions, or reactions to the character sheet.
This is absolutely something we want to change, as many magic items grant these.

For now, you can add a custom action to the character sheet as a reminder for yourself to check the magic item.

Tools add proficiency to the check that the DM calls for. Forgery Kit can be Dexterity for skill in copying a sample you have on hand; Intelligence to make a copy of something you've only seen; Charisma to get advantage on your Deception check to pass your forgery off as authentic.

And the attacks work.. well mostly but always miss something. Such as modifier of -5 to to attack. Or affect if the creature fails the save. Is there anything I'm doing wrong? Or need to do to get these to work? It seems so close.

No. But Ray of Sickness is also an attack and then a save so that can guide you. If I were you, if your arrow just adds a save on top of a regular shot, I would just create a custom action for the save. Though, in any case, it will only provide you information as mechanical implementation for it is not available in DDB.

There is no official item called Cloak of Falsehoods. That has to be homebrew, either yours or someone else’s in your campaign. Homebrew items won’t show up in the site search or the Magic Items page.

It shows the damage per missile, in case you send the different missiles at different targets.

@final trellis to follow up with @marble thunder's issue, I was having similar issues with a new addition to our party. I'm the owner of the account and had sharing on, but it was throwing similar errors on a variety of things other than spells. I was able to regain control by disabling all content that I was sharing, then turning sharing off, then back on and activating the content again. Hope this helps others!

So I have tried all proposed solutions to this and I'm still coming up empty. The dice roller doesn't work for me on character sheets or in the character creation stat generation page in chrome. Disabling all extensions had no effect on this, my cookie settings are chrome default, my browser is up to date. The dice roller does work in the encounter manager, in chrome's incognito mode, in Microsoft Edge. I'm at a total loss.

Well it doesn’t have to be you, necessarily. Anyone in the campaign with a Master Tier subscription can enable it, and once it’s enabled, everyone’s purchases get shared.

Hi - I've been reskinning DnD spells to make them more thematically appropriate (Ancient Greek setting). I've gone a tempest cleric, but I can't put in the reskinned spells to the domain, so I'm trying to reskin/copy the tempest domain to be "Priest of Zeus". Nothing was changing with logins. All that changed is DDB is now apart of Wizards of the Coast. This means the account data is now owned by Wizards of the Coast (where as before it was owned by Fandom).

It's because you've set up the variant as being an exact copy of the base race

Meaning it has all the same properties with none of them replacing anything

If you have a race with traits A, B, C and D
If you make a variant that changes trait B for B1, when you set up the variant you'll want to only give it trait B1 and set that trait to replace B

What you've done is made a race with traits A, B, C and D, and given it a variant with traits A1, B1, C1 and D1 but none of them set to replace anything
So when you select the variant, it has traits A, B, C, D, A1, B1, C1, and D1

You can give it custom Notes that show up there on the sheet. Clicking the spell would still show the original description in the sidebar, though.

Encounter Builder - likely continued development and polishing up, eventually becoming a part of the "long term goal" of a shared virtual play space.

Physical books granting access to digital version - Not likely in the near term because of the logistics and resources needed to pull that off in a reasonable and sane way that doesn't leave physical bookstore/game store and other supply chain partners out.

If you’ve got the physical book, you can use the homebrew tools to recreate that content for free, though.

Or you can purchase just the parts you need, like a single subclass. Whatever you spend gets credited toward the cost of the book itself, too.

Okay I still have problems with creating a variant to my homebrew race that changes the walking speed. This is how it is currently. It's most likely a cache issue which means clearing your browser cache. Some browsers allow you to do that much more granularly (like just clearing the browser cache just for that site).

There is apparently a known issue with subscriptions right now that the devs are working on identifying and fixing. In the mean time, use the customer support ticket system. Tickets are answered in the order they are received (and submitting another ticket will just reset you back of the line). As I don't work for DnDBeyond/WoTC I don't know what the timeline is for when they'll answer but as it's the weekend in the US, I suspect Monday would be the earliest they would be able to respond and handle it.

Might be just super tired, but the Dragonhide belt doesn't seem to give the While wearing it, you gain a +3 bonus to the saving throw DCs of your ki features. With the others like the wizard book or the drum for bards it does show up in the features.. is that a technical standpoint that it doesn't increase on the sheet because not possible to program or because those items don't have that bonus given?

I'm trying to figure out how to expand a warlock's spell list with a slightly tweaked Great Old One subclass. I added the spells I wanted Borrowed Knowledge & Pass Without Trace to the ADDITIONAL SPECIFIC SPELLS section on the subclass' main page, and added them to the Expanded Spell List feature like the other spells that were already there and saved everything, but they don't show up as options when I manage spells on my character sheet for some reason.

For anything outside the free content in the Basic Rules, Avrae checks whether you have access to it in D&D Beyond. (They’ll need to link their DDB and Discord accounts by using !ddb)

If your friend has the physical books, they can recreate that content for free using DDB and Avrae’s homebrew tools (they’d need to do it in both).

Alternatively, your friend can buy just the parts they need, like a single subclass, and get full access to it in both systems. Whatever they spend gets credited toward the cost of the book itself, too.

There isn’t a way to “unlock” a physical book on DDB. They would have to create it from scratch using the site’s homebrew tools (which are the same tools used to build the official version).

So if I just buy the digital PHB on DDB I could share it with the rest of the players so we wouldn't have this problem again? (we each have our own physical PHB and are using that as our reference). Can you explain how exactly I could do that?

I'm just a player and and this is my 1st campaign but I've been trying to help the rest of the players by setting up a discord and encouraging DDB. There's a big price difference between $2 Eldritch Knight and $30 PHB but if it'll help everyone, I might bite the bullet. Most of the players it's our 1st campaign including for me and my SO but I'm not sure if we'll do more after because it's a large time commitment and it's not really my SO's thing even though I enjoy it so it's hard deciding if it's worth it.

You’d need to remove an existing character first, or subscribe to create an unlimited number of characters.

For the Wild Beyond the Witchlight adventure, you cannot purchase only the fairy race for digital character creation.

(In previous content, I've been able to purchase just the race - like loxodon in Guildmasters' Guide to Ravnica, for example - rather than buying the full module.)

Could such a purchase be made possible for the fairy race in WBtW?

so i know with sharing content with your campaign, you can restrict what official books are and aren't shared. but is there any way to do the same with homebrew content?

Content sharing lets you restrict compendium access (i.e. reading the book); it doesn’t restrict any character options.

You currently cannot override carrying capacity to a fixed value as far as I'm aware

Perhaps a way to give a numerical bonus to carrying capacity? Or have it count off a different stat like INT?

As far as I know, the only thing that modifies carrying capacity is features like Powerful Build (that treats you as one size category larger). You could look at a race with Powerful Build (goliath or firbolg) or similar (Centaur) and see what modifiers they use

Oh ok, I working on a thing where carrying capacity is decided by INT instead of STR but I guess I can't get that to work

I will however point out that D&D Beyonds focus is always on supporting the official rules and that's where all the homebrew modifiers come from

If it doesn't exist in some capacity in the official rules, it's unlikely to be a modifier within the homebrew tools
