If you're adding them under Spells, you can adjust both those things.

Switching "Consumes Spell Slot" to "Yes" will stop them from being At Will.

That might be enough to fix Hallow as well. If not, you can use the "Available at Character Level" box on the right there instead.

And again, remember that homebrew edits can sometimes take a few minutes to show up on the character sheet. You might not see the changes right away.

It can sometimes take up to 20 minutes or so. But will eventually update to display the changes, the ones that you're seeing correctly in your new test character

Yeah. Homebrew data gets cached so that your character sheet loads faster during play.

But that does mean on the rarer occasions when you go to change your homebrew, you have to wait for the cache to grab the updates.

If by “the top of the actions list” you mean display it in the top section (Actions) instead of the bottom one (Other), you can do that by adding a Custom Action instead. But there's not a way to move the existing one between sections, or to reorder attacks within a section.

The Homebrew brace needs to have a short description, this way the spacing in the builder doesn't overlap. If you (or someone in your campaign) has created the homebrew race, you would need to edit and add a line or two of text into the Short description, save the race and then wait about 20 or so mins for the change to push out to the character sheet

Outside of the Short Rest pop-out pane, D&D Beyond doesn't currently have a way to track spent hit dice, including for other features such as the Dwarven Fortitude feat.

Ok, I'm not getting anything useful from the forums, maybe discord can tell me. Why do I keep losing access to character portraits? 8 of the characters in this screenshot have a character portrait I've uploaded in the past. I can go and delete all my cookies and log back into ddb and they show up, but days or weeks later they are all gone again. Clear Cache and Hard Reset does not resolve this issue. I am sick and tired of always having to clear my cookies. Please tell me what I am doing wrong.

Hi there! If you go into the equipment section and scroll all the way down it should show your chosen infusions and there you can select wich of your infusions you want to be active. Active infusions will then be added to your inventory automaticly!

Under "Additional Information", you need to check "Has Charges" and fill in "Number of Charges". I'm not sure if "Charge Reset Condition" is required or not.

Then inside the spell, you need to set "Min - Max Spell Charges".

If the magic item only has a single charge, then you'd put a 1 for the min and max.

Just be aware that homebrew edits can sometimes take up to 15 minutes before they show up on the character sheet.

So if you don't see the change right away, just give it a little bit.

Whenever you gain a sorcerer level, you can replace one spell you gained from this feature with another spell of the same level. The new spell must be a divination or an enchantment spell from the sorcerer, warlock, or wizard spell list.

The reason you cannot delete published homebrew is because once it's punished, other people can use it on their characters. It would be very disruptive if you were using a certain piece of homebrew and the creator deleted it.
This is the same reason you cannot edit published homebrew (you instead create a new version); it could ruin, or even break, someone else's character.

You don't need to publish homebrew to share it in a campaign. Anything in your collection is shared automatically once you join a campaign

Hello-- my party is having a lot of issues with dndbeyond this morning

One player can't load her character sheet. It won't acknowledge that it's her character. Another can't check their spells they've used or change their hp

A few weeks ago there was a maintenance period that logged everyone out. You might check that they've logged in with the proper credentials. If the character sheets were previously open, have them try navigating back to the sheets from their My Characters page

That's one of the big problems. It's not showing on her my characters page. Originally she thought it had been deleted because it wasn't there

She logged into the same account that the username is attached to on the character sheet

We tested it and I sent her a message to that profile and she received the message but the character sheet is still not there

Okay so this might be a problem... so she logged into the account, received the message I sent to the profile yet it's giving her a different player id.

Then it's very likely that she accidentally signed up with a previously unlinked login method and created a second account by mistake.

If someone's account was created prior to April 2019, it HAD to use Twitch (at least at some point).

Hmm. I'm stumped. If you're playing soon, I'd recommend for the immediate time period that either:

1. Your player signs in using another browser, if possible; or
2. You deactivate the character in your campaign and allow her second account to claim it in the interim.

Regardless, she should submit a support ticket (https://dndbeyond.link/SubmitTicket), and customer support should hopefully be able to help on a bit more of a deeper level. I've tried everything at my disposal here!

If you're looking at the page for the character on the website, click the cog/gear icon next to the username, then click "Manage Levels" in the sidebar.
It'll take you to Step 2 of the character builder, where you can edit the character's level in the top right of the page. Once you click "2" in the Level dropdown, it'll update the list of class features, etc.

Paying for a subscription does not provide access to unowned content. The Master tier, however, allows you to turn content sharing on in campaigns, meaning you and all of your fellow players will be able to share access to content that you individually own, as long as your characters are in that campaign.

Basically, by paying for the subscription, you are paying DDB for the awesome service. But DDB don't own WotC's content. For that, you will have to pay WotC, that is, pay for the book in the marketplace.

on the main section of the subclass creator. you will see fields for Spellcasting Ability, Can Cast Spells, etc. Below those is a field called "Additional Specific Spells." If you add spells there, it should mark them as always prepared and counting as sorcerer spells.

There is not. Depending on what the option is, you can add the choice as a modifier (e.g. Bonus > Chose ___ ...), but if it's a choice that requires finer control (choosing between your own curated list of skills, for instance) you will have to either set up separate feats, or else specify clearly in the text that they may only choose from a specific list.

What sort of option were you trying to implement?

Can you use JSON rollable expressions on descriptions like you can for a homebrew monsters, to provide the quick option to roll special ability on a homebrew weapon?

And if you're in a campaign with someone that has content sharing on, if they share a link to their homebrew with you, you'll be able to see the details page. You (likely) won't be able to find your way there just from the item in the builder, however

Often the pre-order bonuses are meant exactly to encourage pre-ordering. Although some other, old pre-order bonuses have been distributed to subscribers, so it's possible in the future that these pre-order dice will be available in one way or another.

I honestly don't know why this isn't sold separately. Especially for newer players. Giving players/subscribers/users choice on a feature that is pretty neat (dice rolling mechanic), all dice sets should be purchasable.

Hello! I just got news of new dice. They didn't show up, but I skimmed the conversation above and found the Bit about syncing entitlements and support tickets... I did the sync and didn't see anything and was writing here to ask if the issue was widespread enough that maybe I shouldn't bother anyone with a ticket and instead just wait a few days, but while writing this I refreshed and the dice showed up.

SO I am guessing that the Sync does work, it just takes 5-15 minutes before the system finishes and the results are visible. Hopefully I am right and hopefully it helps someone. If not sorry.

I mean, it definitely makes sense to do that if you (or they) are just interested in specific character options rather than a whole book.
Also, if you buy a single subclass (or spell, race, subrace, magic item, etc.), then if you decide later that you want to buy the book as a whole, the price of that book is discounted by the amount you've already paid for the individual things you've bought previously from that book. That way, you're not spending any more than you would otherwise. 🙂

As long as content sharing is on, they will be able to use all of the options in the Character Builder. Content Management allows you to restrict their access to the compendium content. As stated in the Content Management screen for a campaign:

Blocking a source will hide compendium content to prevent players from reading it unless they own it. No options or content will be removed from other tools such as the character builder, character sheet, or encounter builder.

In the details page for the trait, you have the option of adding one or more Actions to the trait, and then also have the ability to make a Spell Action (see attached), where you would fill in all of the necessary spell information. This will show up in the Actions pane of the character sheet, but not the Spells pane. If instead you wanted to add a pre-existing spell but simply change the casting time, you can add a Spell to the racial trait (rather than an Action), and specify within the spell details page what its activation time is. Clicking the "Display as attack" option will also make it visible in the Actions pane of the character sheet.

Sorry if this is really basic but not sure how to even search for this topic. I've been a player using ddb for about 7-8 months now (really enjoying it). Last might my GM said something about, "Can you even see my dice rolls?" (He wasn't talking about the dice animation, I already told him that feature isn't available (yet))... but he meant he was trying to roll a standard d20 for us all to see. Then we realized since he was looking at one of the players in the campaign, his dice rolls were coming up with that player's name (as if he rolled it and not the GM). So, is there anyway for a GM to roll dice using his own "account" and not having it appear as if a player rolled it? Thanks (sorry so long winded).

The DM can roll from the Encounter Builder or Combat Tracker.

Sorry not following. I opened an encounter I built last night (4 goblins and one goblin boss). When I open that encounter I just see the info (difficulty, exp, and little tabs for the creatures). I don't see any floating action button, nor do I know what you mean by "pull in the campaign..." Sorry for the noobness.

guys, I've got a question, because I'm kinda starting to doubt my memory 😄 I know that for the longest time, if content sharing was enabled, even if you enabled it, you had no control over what was shared and what was blocked, unless you were the DM.
I'm pretty sure that a few weeks (months?) back, that changed and you were able to have control over your own content sharing - even as a player.
I was just now going to block some content (because I might run a campaign where at least one of my current co-players will be a player) and I can no longer control what is and what isn't shared. Do you know if there's a reason they rolled that back? Or am I doing something wrong? (or, you know, did i just imagine being able to manage content sharing as a player to begin with :P)

Content sharing controls have always been DM only

Purchasing any artificer subclass will unlock the base class.

Yes! You can either right click on the roll you'd like to make and choose between rolling to your DM or rolling to yourself, or you can go to the game log and click on the dropdown at the top to set one of those as default

Hi, I'm making an armorer artificer. Two of the subclass features include increasing the infusion limit by 2 (if those 2 are placed on the armor pieces) and having your armor be considered separate pieces for infusions. One of those pieces is the armors special weapon. The enhanced weapon infusion will not show that special weapon as an option. Neither feature seems to be working in dndbeyond.

This is a known limitation of the current system's implementation of the Armorer. From the Tasha's Cauldron of Everything support thread:

ARMORER - Armor Modifications. We don't yet have a system to allow the separate infusion of individual armor pieces.

In the meantime, you can create custom actions (or customize existing actions or your character sheet) to emulate the functionality you are trying to accomplish through the infusions added to these pieces.

Is there a way in the Homebrew Tool to set the AC of a Character with a modifier that doesn't allow dexterity to be factored in, similarly to the Tortle Race or Heavy Armor? Can't seem to figure this one out.

The Tortles shell is made of 2 modifiers

Set - Unarmoured Armour Class and Set - AC Max Dex Modifier

in the case of the tortle the first is set to 7, and the second to 0

Looks like there's also an "Ignore - Unarmored Dex AC Bonus".

You have to be careful with that modifier though, because setting an AC Max Dex Modifier of 0 means that negative DEX scores can still decrease the AC. I haven't yet tested whether a negative number can be utilized for that modifier, but it wouldn't surprise me if not. Also I think I vaaaaaguely recall something about Ignore - Unarmed Dex AC Bonus not working. It's been a hot minute since I've tried using those extensively

Setting those modifiers in particular can cause some weird effects. As with all home-brew, caution and testing are advised!

Purchasing the books digitally is a separate purchase.... usually! But Dragons of Icespire Peak is a unique situation. if you buy the shrinkwrapped DoIP boxes they come with a code to use on DNDBeyond

but otherwise yes, if you want your character options from Tasha's and the PHB to be accessible in the character builder o DNDBeyond you have to buy it on DNDBeyond, it's a separate product made by a separate company

FWIW, you can also purchase just parts of a book on DDB -- like a specific subclass.

Anything you spend gets credited toward the price of the book itself, too.

Or if you'd rather spend time than money, you can rebuild the content from your physical book for free using DDB's homebrew tools.
