Have those all been reported in #ddb-feedback? I assume so, but this is actually one of the few books I don't own personally.
I know they're all on the forum thread.
I reported one or two, missed the Mastery issue, though, as I haven't run it myself.
(I have no idea what that process looks like, to be fair, so exactly how much is on what Paizo sends and how much is the Beyond team I have no idea)
In previous 3PP titles obvious bug fixes were able to be fixed relatively quickly, but anything that requires design input takes a seeming era.
My assumption is there's a lot of legal red tape.
It's likely why Obojima update hasn't dropped yet, for example.
And Humblewood. My understaning is both have '24 updates available elsewhere, but due to timing when they hit Beyond they only had '14.
Yeah, the 2024 PDF update for Obojima was available 5 months ago.
1985 games have also confirmed it's been sent to their DNDB contacts, so I guess it's just waiting somewhere on WOTC's side.
Humblewood is in a weird spot where base Humblewood is '14, but Tales is '14/'24.
My personal suspicion is that with all the sweeping official books coming out in Q4 of 2025, DNDB engineers were busy with those and didn't have time to work the 3PP updates. I hope in Q1 of next year they are able to get to it since no future official books have currently been announced by WOTC yet.
Yeah, unless they're also very soon in the pipeline but we haven't been told yet.
DND marketing cycles require at least a quarter heads-up, so I would be very shocked to see anything before Q2. It's not impossible they try to shadow drop something, though.
I'd like to think we have another 1-12 (or similar length) adventure coming soon. We've only had compilations and starter sets since Eve of Ruin, so we're due.
It'd be cool to maybe get a 1-10 and then a 10-20 followup at some point. The only adventures we have so far that are designed to work together (sort of) are Waterdeep Dragon Heist and Dungeon of the Mad Mage.
We do not have a proper and official 2024 adventure module yet, so I do think we'll see one soon-ish. That said, I just realized we've gotten off-topic for the channel so probably worth cooling it on speculation here hah.
While the product did release in August, the first report for this was just last month. I've let the devs know it's come up again, though.
thanks, although not knowing about the issue is not an excuse, this just shows that they dont test enough, seems like a running thing with WotC not testing their product enough, the more content they add the buggier it gets. At least the D&DB website performance is improving and they are making core things better like the library, but the pattern of long running issues & unfulfilled promises is problematic
there are things that always slip through the cracks in software testing. no perfect system and always things that are either accidently overlooked or only visible when more users are poking at it
can anyone tell me why i cant upload my own maps as a dm even though i have the subscription? seems to work now :/
How do I add homebrew items to my inventory (I have homebrew enabled)
I made an item
but I can't add it
Is the item here in your My Homebrew Collection? (Not just in My Homebrew Creations?)
https://www.dndbeyond.com/my-collection
question about wish stress
if someone have lost ability to cast wish because stress. Can someone else casts wish to remove stress from 1st guy and gain ability to cast wish once more?
Not a question for this channel
This is in the realm of DM adjudication, but also this should be asked in #dnd-discussion instead of here. This channel is for support with DNDBeyond only.
... Or #dnd-rules . The intricacies of what the books say RAW is kind of their domain.
Note, there is sometimes a 10 to 15 minute delay with homebrew.
Also, after making any change, make sure you hit Save button even it doesn't seem clear Save might be necessary. Sometimes until you do that, it will not update.
I also find sometimes it helps to refresh your character page. Sometimes the item does not appear until I do.
I can see it in there so yea
also there is some homebrew stuff like laser pistols and X1-marksmen laser rifle
the base of those weapons is crossbows (which quality for repeating shots)
but they don't show up when I try to type it in
Thaaaat doesn’t look like you’re adding an item to your inventory.
What is that? Artificer’s Magic Item Plans?
Yes
Homebrew items won’t show up for that, no matter what you do.
I’d just leave that unselected and add the item directly to your inventory instead.
I could just add custom weapons but the fact that an artificer plan slot will remain empty will bug me
like seriously
beyond bug me
I suppose you could select some other Repeating Shot weapon just to fill it up.
I am trying to order the One Grung Above digital book on Dnd Beyond, but it is saying that it will arrive on the 25th, its a digital book though. Why is it going to take 2 days for a digital book to enter my library?
You should get any digital items automatically. I’d imagine it’s showing that message by mistake.
thank you.
Hey i was making a dnd beyond subclass and im having a bit of an issue with some of the formatting and UI stuff. if anyone has the time to help that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Hi, is there a bug that would give a 3rd Level Ranger the Athlete feat for free? He’s actually Monk 8/Ranger 3 and the Athlete feat shows “From Ranger”.
What kind of issue?
Can you share a link to that character? Please make sure in their character settings that Character Privacy is set to Public, too.
Sure I have a couple of problems. The first one is that in the character creation it doesn’t seem to remember any of the choices I selected for the subclass. The second one is that for one of my level 10 abilities I put a requirement that only a specific option could be chosen based on a previous choice. But it just won’t let me select anything at all for that. And lastly it lets me choose the same option multiple times when I only want it to be able to be chosen once
thank you so much
I just deleted it. Works out I guess.
Hello merry christmas to those who celebrate. Logged onto ddb and its new format throws me off.. but it says "owned shared" content is 27 books.. i bought legendary bundle last year. I own about 90.. but the books i own have the shopping cart icon next to them, while other stuff i bought says purchased. This is freaking me out
Could this be your problem? #ddb-support message
If so, it is a known issue that should be looked in to after the holidays.
Is there a place to report dms
Report any undesired direct messages/friend requests to Discord. But also you can reach out to the moderation team in #moderator-support - just state "Can I speak with a moderator?" and we can create a private thread to discuss the issue.
I'm not sure this is the perfect channel for it, but how do I implement 2024 statblocks to a subclass?
Copy and paste the HTML for it into the subclass is easiest unless you know how to program in HTML directly yourself. You can use snippets for the in-character display to do some math for you.
I just bought the Player's handbook, DMR and Monster's manual. When I go to my library and click on the book title, it redirects me to the market, where it says I already own the book. Why won't the books open? Feel cheated. WTF??
Account Entitlements
Account entitlements are how D&D Beyond identifies which content you can access. These are synced automatically in time, but if you're not seeing content you should have access to, visit Account > Licenses.
The Account Entitlements section at the top should ideally say "Your entitlements data is in sync!" If not, it will show a button to manually trigger the sync, after which your content should be available.
There’s a bug at the moment where the new library page won’t correctly flag books purchased in a bundle as owned, but you should still be able to access those books.
Are you referring to the 2024 or 2014 books?
Also, did you buy the digital version of the books or the bundle and not just the physical books? The physical books do not grant any online access.
hi I am trying to restrict content players can use in my game and I found something very frustrating
Lorwyn: First Light is not in the list to turn off so I cant stop my players seeing those options even though i don't want them used
as you can see from all the pic that content is still available but I have turned off everything I can.
all they should have are the 3 core book, the 2 Forgotten realms books and the Eberron book
Is it possible the person owns the content themselves? I have not tried it but if they put paid for it, I am not sure you can disable it for them.
Also, is the character in that specific campaign?
Have you tried to refresh since you changed settings? Sometimes I get old results when I only recently changed settings.
the person i am trying to help make a character dose not own any content , they made a WC and DDB account today, and yes there in this specific campaign.
non of these thing take away though that the book is not even in the list to be turned off
I saw it in your list. 3rd last screenshot.
It does show blocked but it is there.
-# why the block is not working may be a different issue ...
thank you for finding it I was looking and could not see it for looking, still not sure why the player can see them tho...
now I can see it for my self Ill try turning it on and off again
It appears the character editor is ignoring those restrictions for species.
It appears there is a slightly different bug (feature?!) that we need to report.
ok finely got her to check again and still sees them
Yeah, I am pretty sure that is a bug (or feature) because all disabled species are still showing for Expanded Rules.
What do I do
I think it's worth noting that blocking individual books is only so they can't read them. If you're trying to limit the builder, you need to use the categories on the home tab for that character
@sage compass ^
There is no way to more granularity limit the builder's options other than the categories. Blocking the individual books is there so a player can't open the adventure you're running, for example.
Feature is is then. 🙂
My Christmas gift isn't loading wtf do I do
The devs are aware of a desire for more granular builder limitations, but it's probably lower priority than some other feature requests.
It says contact support, so try that.
But how do I do that
There should be a link on the DnDBeyond page somewhere.
Ok
D&D Beyond customer support can be contacted at the link below. Requests are answered in the order they're received, during regular business hours. Submitting multiple requests for the same issue can result in a delayed response.
http://dndbeyond.link/SubmitTicket
Found it.
The link is also in the channel description if you cant find it in the future.
Since our party wound up being two players instead of the original 4, the GM let us each pick 2 additional subclasses. Is there any way to reflect that in D&D beyond? (In my case Forge Domain cleric, who's picked up Life and Knowledge domains)
It would be awkward and not totally functional, though, so the best way to do that would be just making additional character sheets.
Generally speaking, the more outside-the-box a homebrew is, the less likely it's possible in Beyond. This is mostly due to the fact that functionality is developed to support existing rules rather than "what if" capabilities.
I’d make homebrew copies of all three to see how they’re set up, then manually rebuild the features from two of them inside the other.
Effectively making it a single subclass with three times as many features.
Shouldn’t take more than 10 minutes or so.
How do I add cantrip on a whim? Like no requirements at all.
Because apparently those with all purpose tool, they have access to cantrips.
You can homebrew a feat that lets you choose to add cantrip(s) of your choice as needed, then add it to the character. You could also do it with a magic item, but it'd be less flexible.
Is there a reason that the "Gift of the Ever Living Ones" Evocation doesn't work on 2024 Warlocks in D&D beyond?
The 2014 extended rules eldritch evocations are not available in the 2024 rules
I'm trying to publish a homebrew species but it's saying there's non English language in it and I can't find what it means
Any weird non-standard characters in the homebrew? That could trigger that.
But also you don't have to publish homebrew to be able to use it on your characters or in your DnDBeyond campaigns. Publishing should only happen after you've thoroughly playtested it, you're okay with that version of your homebrew to live forever in that state (DnDBeyond doesn't usually remove published homebrew except for very narrow reasons) and be publicly accessible to everyone on DnDBeyond.
There's no weird characters just letters and numbers and a few plus signs and the reason I'm trying to publish it is so someone I know can use it but neither of us have master tier
If they are in your DDB campaign they can access you homebrew inside that campaign, publishing not required
They are not in a campaign with me and we cannot make one
What do you mean you can't create a DnDBeyond campaign? Have you used up all your campaign slots?
Don't you need master tier to make a campaign
No. Master Tier is only needed if you want content sharing, use homebrew monsters and custom maps on Maps, two-week early access on DnDBeyond books that you pre-order.
See https://marketplace.dndbeyond.com/subscribe#tiers-comparison-table
Although if you're still playtesting and working on this homebrew, I'd suggest using Google Docs and working on it there. Yeah you don't get all the functionality and dice rolling as DnDBeyond, but it's much easier to work on and tweak and share as you develop it.
This can also be caused if there’s a description that’s missing or too short.
But yeah, you don’t need to publish it to share it with your friend. In fact, they’d need a subscription to use your published homebrew instead.
If you do it through a campaign, there’s no subscription needed, and you can just ignore those errors entirely.
How long does the description have to be
and can it also happen if the snippet is to short
I’m not sure what the actual requirement is. Most official subclass descriptions are a short paragraph or two, though.
It’s required for publishing so that whoever sees your subclass can understand what the subclass is meant to be.
But again, it is only required for publishing, not to share it through a campaign.
I don’t think the snippet length matters.
Alright thank you
This should be fixed! It had to be adjusted for each species individually, though, so if you happen to see one that wasn't fixed, please let us know.
Still not showing up for me...
I think you're looking for the wrong thing there. 😅
You asked if the right column was supposed to say "Gnomes". Now it does.
As for invocations, like bramvers said, they're not yet cross-supported between the 2014 and 2024 class.
For Gift of the Ever-Living Ones specifically, I would simply leave the choice unselected and then add that to my sheet as a custom action instead.
Is there a way to transfer a character from roll20 to dndbeyond? I have bought all my resources through roll20 and dont want to have to rebuy them on dnd beyond
Neither service supports that.
You would not be able to transfer your purchases or character sheets, but if you can use D&D Beyond's homebrew tools to recreate content and features that you have access to on other sites.
There is a script add-on in Roll20 which supports importing DNDBeyond characters into Roll20, but there's nothing that automates going the opposite direction.
Yea i messed with the beyond20 extension and saw you can roll from DNDB onto the VTT for roll20 but didnt find one going the other way. Been messing with DND Beyond but cant figure out how to edit the character sheet directly like you can in Roll20
DNDBeyond works differently and automates pre-written features rather than allow direct editing like that. It's a different application paradigm which has its own pros and cons, but ultimately means you need to engage with the homebrew system if you want to arbitrarily add homebrew stuff to the sheet. Some areas, though, like the notes tab can be edited directly.
Is there a reason that my 2014 copy is listed as shared with me? Everything else is properly marked as I own it, but the PHB is marked as shared, even though I bought the LEgendary Bundle back then
Olive i got a message back from support team , legendary bundles are visually messing up owned content wrong at the moment. (Mine shows i only own 27 books) but they are aware. So assuming ur issue is same reason as mine
You are not missing it. It just isn't there. DDB does not give you a truly direct way of editing the sheet but the homebrew tools can be used to do a lot of things.
Ah sorry, I thought you were replying to my later question regarding TCoE Eldritch Evocations not showing up for 2024 Warlocks
Is there any way to select my weapon as my pact weapon with pact of the blade so my Charisma modifier gets applied automatically?
im having problem to print my character
any who can please take a look cause i dont get why ?
Click on the weapon, then you should see a Pact Weapon option there in the sidebar.
You might need to open the Customize menu there to find it.
Can you be more specific? What kind of problem?
It cant download be printed
Why not? What happens when you try?
The more detail you can provide, the easier it is for us to help.
👋
Hey there! Did you need help with something?
a friend of mine ran into a wierd thing, theyre in puerto rico tried to make a purchase, but the purchase seems to be in a limbo, neither the bank transaction, nor the order receipt went through but the balance of the bank reflects as though it had.
For purchase issues they will have to reach out to customer support.

Is the website working for anyone right now?
Nope
Fully crashed on me.
If a page loads, I am either forbidden from going, or it's a 404 error.
yep same, sucks bc my group is in the middle of combat and we use it for our character sheets
same here
Lol one time it was down the moment my after-school club started and was up the moment it was time for parent pickup.
Kids didn't know it was possible to play without the website.
oh good, i thought maybe i broke something
Do you have dice and physical copies of the PHB?
Site seems up again for the moment
i just got logged in
It has the Prone condition.
I had a question about the DNDBeyond VTT. When I'm running a REALLY big map, so I've prepopulated the NPCs, how do I only make a portion/fraction of the NPCs join a combat encounter? It seems like it's all or nothing.
It's been a while for me but when I was experimenting, I seem to recall being able to select specific tokens and adding just those. I remember doing it with PCs. I would add 7 to my map and then only select 5 for initiative of those tokens if only 5 were there that day..
If they broke that, I cannot be much more help at this time.
I'll check that out. Appreciate the infor
You should be able to lasso them or hold down either SHIFT or CTRL (I forget which) to select additional ones.
heya, i wanted to ask a few things since they were bugging me, i have been playing a bard and i took the shadow touched feat, but when i looked at my spells i didnt have the option to cast my chosen necromancy spells (false life) other then the one time use without using spells slots , why can't i cast it using spell slots when the feat says i can? Also why does the site tell me i can learn 9 spells? i am lvl 5 i should only know 8 spells right?
The former is a system limitation at the moment. They’re able to add it both ways when a feature assigns a specific spell, but not when the player chooses their own.
You can manually mark the spell slot as used, though.
9 prepared spells for a level 5
Bard (the 2024 class) is correct, though.
Did you mean to select
Bard (the 2014 class) instead?
-# ^^^ Bard 2014 would be 8. You may have selected the 2024 class. Look for the classes with Legacy if you want the old versions.
@uneven lantern ty for the info, so i guess ill roll manually if i ever inted to cast it with my spell slots
You can still use the spell as it grants you, just manually tick off the spell slot afterwards.
Due to the style of campaign I'm running, players have to constantly copy their character sheets and join the new campaign (West Marches style). The issue is, everytime they copy their characters, their background and weapon masteries (and some other options) never copy over, they constantly have to go back and fix it, and sometimes they forget to do so. Is there anyway to deal with this copy issue? Is it supposed to copy these options over or was it designed this way?
Random question 🤨 is it possible to run trial encounters with NPC‘s on DND beyond?
Trial encounters? If you mean, calculate everything and spit out a result like asimulator, no. DDB provides tools. Tools that generally striving to sim things that are in the book.
The Player handbook has way more sorcerer subclasses than I have access to, but I own the handbook. Any reason?
How long ago did you purchase the PHB and are your entitlements in sync?
?tag ddb entitlements

The Account Entitlements section at the top should ideally say "Your entitlements data is in sync!" If not, it will show a button to manually trigger the sync, after which your content should be available.
Are you referring to the 2014 or the 2024 PHB?
2024 I think.
Did you select the right Sorcerer class for that book?
You’d need
Sorcerer for the 2024 subclasses, not
Sorcerer.
It's at the top of the page, where it says gamerules. Then go to classes.
Yeah I have the 2024 one.
If you check this page, are your Account Entitlements in sync? Is that book listed here under Current Product Licenses?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/licenses
yep
Ok, now I'm confused, when I went to library, and then the book, it doesn't have all those subclasses. But when I go to the gamerules tab, then classes, it has way more.
@uneven lantern
Which subclass are you trying to select?
None in particular, just confused as to why I don't have them as options.
All I have is Aberrant, clockwork, draconic, and wild magic
Those are indeed all the ones from the PHB.
You may be in a campaign where extra content is being shared with you, but editing a character outside of that campaign won't have access to the shared content
In the gamerules section there are another 5 subclasses
The others you’re seeing on the Sorcerer class page are ones from other books.
frick
Should really specify that
Says they are under the PHB
Where specifically does it say that?
when you are on the screen with all the classes, it has them all under PHB at the top.
Can you share a screenshot?
That’s showing the book the class is from.
The sorcerer class is indeed from the Player’s Handbook.
Right, figured anything under it would also be from that book though.
My fault I suppose.
Is there any way to tell what books the subclasses are from?
The mobile app is the best place to get that info.
Thanks
Not exactly what I was asking, more so just running through an encounter with purely NPC‘s for damning purposes
DMing purposes
I mean, there is nothing in the encounter builder that would restrict you to live play or specifically with PCs.
Hey guys I noticed on market place there's a "new" version of the expanded rules books. Do i need to buy them to have all the options in their 2024 version?
if i already own their 2014 version*
Yes
This has me very confused can you name the book
I'm wondering if they mean the pack that is XGE, TCE, & MotM, but if it is, I thought those books were just the 2014 versions. So also confused here.
Those included a 2014 and 2024 version of the subclasses (that are not in the 2024 players handbook)
So, for the 2024 versions, I need to re-purchase those 3?
no you don't (as far as I know)
I am facing an issue with actions and modifiers in my homebrew species in dnd beyond:
I made these these three traits; two have actions and the other has a modifier to my natural weapon.
For some reason, despite having doubly saved everything, neither do the actions appear in the actions list nor does the modifier work.
Is there any solution to this or am I alone on this one?
Ah, I thought they meant the core rulebooks. 😅
Do the Actions each have an Activation Type?
What Modifier did you use?
Can you check your sheet again? Sometimes homebrew edits can take up to 15 minutes to appear there.
Is there a way to change the Actions available on the Actions Tab? Like I don't know why Toll the Dead cantrip is not shown on Actions, but a Level 1 Cleric Guiding Bolt is on there.
By default, it shows only attacks there.
But you can click on Toll the Dead, open the Customize menu in the sidebar, then check “Display As Attack” to add it there.
Yeah
I finally managed to get one of the actions to show up
But the natural weapon thing still hasn't appeared yet
Natural weapon modifier and I picked slashing in the subtype
Wait I'll show you
It just doesn't appear on the test character for some reason
Here
I added the duration because I thought it mightve been a requirement for it to show
And the additional bonus types
And what are you expecting this to do, exactly? Add an attack to the Actions tab?
If you want to add an action, you have to add an action, not a modifier. I’d approach this with a combination of modifying unarmed strike damage and an action to use the natural weapon.
No, it's the modifier I told you about
Right, but what are you expecting this modifier to do?
Change unarmed strike to the natural weapon or add a diff action
If you want to change the existing Unarmed Strike, you’ll need a different Modifier.
If you want to add a different action, you’ll need to add it as an Action, not a Modifier.
Yea ik the action part
I finally got one of the actions to appear
Also snippets don't appear for some reason
mb if I'm being annoying I'm just really confused rn lmao
This would change the Unarmed Strike’s damage die…
- Type: Set
- Subtype: Unarmed Damage Die
- Die Count: 1
- Die Size: d8
…but I’m not sure how to change its damage type.
Official features like this usually add an Action instead of a Modifier.
Can you give a specific example of a snippet that’s not appearing? What did you set it as?
Hi I'm new to this place is it ok for me to join you
#dnd-newcomers may be your best bet.
Thank you
You’re here, you’re joined. 😉Check #channel-guide to see our many channels to discuss D&D.
Also Finesse and Reflexes isn't even supposed to be under lightweight
I have absolutely no damn clue what is going on
Ok I made a new character and the new die for unarmed strike loaded but the snippets are still not there??
After spamming edit and save a couple times I got everything on my character sheet except this last trait which is the most important of all and gives me 2 options for upgrades
Maybe I just have to wait like you said I'll check tmr ig
I've been waiting for 30 mins but could be taking longer idfk
Did you close all tabs of ddb before you started waiting?
Like Tasha's. Is it just saying it works with 2024 or is there an updated Tasha's with 2024 balances
The subclasses from tasha's are compatible whit the 2024 rules but not yet rebalance for them
sorry for late reply .. but when i press download it just cancel direct and wont let me do anything with the file
are there ways on the dndbeyond vtt to add "notes" to the maps, something that the DM can open up the way that you can pull up monster statblocks on the vtt?
thats all i can open
Hello all,
Can anybody explain to me why when i click on the button 'Place order' to proceed with a purchase on the marketplace, I'm instantly set back to the previous step (02. Payment) with the error message 'There was a problem processing your payment. Please verify your payment information and try again.'? I have tried several times, on several devices, several navigators and several credit cards. It lasts for 8 months and I cannot buy any D&DBeyond content anymore 😢
Thank you in advance!
Possible things that can prevent purchases from being completed:
- The bank flags it and is prevening it
- You don't have all the details (such as county/region and postal codes) correct - double check.
- Your DnDBeyond address setup does not fully match your payment methods' address - double check.
If you continue to have issues, please contact customer support.

Thank you for your quick answers 🙂
Here are my comments on them:
- I checked with my bank and there is no problem. I also tried a card from another bank to be sure.
- I have tried many many times, double-checking each time. I fill in all the required information.
- I am not sure to understand 😅
I have already opened 2 tickets to the support. I could exchange a little with them, several months after opening the first. Their last answer was to wait and try again later, which i did... for 2 months. After this, i opened the second ticket, without any answer for now. 😢
In that case please continue working with customer support on your current tickets (don’t open a new one for the same issue as that just delays things and puts you at the end of the line so to speak)
How long should I wait?
Is it normal that each exchange takes weeks or months?
It’s the middle of the holidays here in the US and a weekend to boot so I’d expect things to be a bit slow.
But customer service will work with you to get this figured out.
I suspect 2 to 2.5 weeks for costumes support at this time
Thanks for your answer. I opened my ticket by email on december 2nd... Still no answer to date. Could i have done something wrong? I received an email of confirmation that my ticket had been opened.
Try answering to the confirmation email whit "I still need help whit this problem" (I think that helps)
Do you get the same issue in another browser or on another device?
yeah , i cant reach it from anywhere

If so, I think that # in there is breaking the URL.

okey , thanks for trying at least
I noticed that the Daemonologist Wizard subclass from grim hollow isn't letting me take any eldritch evocations could someone help me with that?
On DDB, just add the feat Eldritch Adept as a workaround!
Dm has asked us to create characters with 5e og rules how does that work with dnd beyond?
Essentially, before doing anything for your character (not even class) just toggle off everything on the Home tab of a character except for "2014 Core Rules," "2014 Expanded Rules," and any 3rd Party publishers you know the DM allows (as well as "Legacy/Noncore" if you know that is allowed). Then pick all of your character details.
That should filter to only '14 rules content.
Thanks heaps, this dm has been very hard to talk with haha
Is there a way to remove class/race provided weapon proficiencies on DNDBeyond? I tried going into the editor, but I can only add proficiencies and there doesn’t seem to be a way to remove them
So I am trying to make a Longsword with the Light Property so that my PC Monk can use it as a Monk Weapon, but when I make a magic item and give it the Light Property, it doesnt seem to work with the Martial Arts Feature, what can I do to fix this?
Also Mythic Odysseys of Theros does not appear in my Source Books Libarary, I need to view all sources to acess the book is how can I fix that
This is a know bug.
Make a homebrew copy of the Species without them and keep everything else the same.
It appears for me under both Sourcebooks and All. Make sure you're viewing "Owned+Shared" in the top right and that the "Filter by Title" section is empty.
I was curious and was wondering if it would be worth it to buy tashas cauldron of everything (as a player I have wanted to dm though) cause artificers my favroite class but can anyone tell me what else it entails. (off the dnd beyond site with the bundle of digital and physical)
Note that if you play 2024, the new version of Artificer is in the newer Eberron book.
I would post a pic of the ToC but I suspect it is not allowed.
Personally I like Tasha's but my original purchase was to use it for AL. In 20/20 hindsight though, it is the kind of thing I would want for my own games.
Content wise:
Chapter 1: Player Options, Artificer, yes, but additional options for all 12 other classes as well.
Chapter 2: Deals with Patrons.
Chapter 3: some stuff on spells including flavour, as well as new magic items
Chapter 4: DM Tools, loosely, some ideas to help with adjudication, table etiquette, few aspects of world design, puzzles, and sidekicks.
Suffice it to say it is neither setting specific nor a lorebook, and while it is closer to a rulebook, it is more of a "here are some options you could consider for your games", which may or may not be good depending on what you are looking to purchase.
YMMV.
Fun fact: all users can view the TOC for every book on DDB.
is there a way to get the 8 broken backgrounts to work? (I mean the High Contrast Backdrops and https://www.dndbeyond.com/avatars/45789/915/638682363419074372.jpeg )
In what way are they broken?
the High Contrast Backdrops are completly black and the other one is completely white
They're not completely black, but they are intentionally very close to black.
By "adder one", did you mean "other one"? The one you linked above?
yes (I don't know the name of it)
If you zoom the page in or out, does that image appear?
yes at a size were it gets hart to read my sheet
okay this is about my last resort. so far I have resorted to the following, but please, dndbeyond, take the issues that international customers are having seriously.
I want to give you lots of money and you won't let me.
if I thought I'd get anything other than an impersonal message telling me to check my card info and adress again I'd go through customer support for the 3rd time, but honestly this is more accessible with a screen reader.
I have deleted all my info on the website and readded it based on exactly how it's written on what is registered for my bank. given that my bank is located in australia and I'm living in Sweden, this actually necessitated a very expensive phonecall just to find out that the issue isn't on there end. I even asked them exactly where each capital letter was located. we went through the process twice with 2 different browsers. this was after my trying it on my own several times.
I tried with paypal and while it looked like it would work to start with it then came up with a screen asking me to select my card. the card that I wanted to select showed as unavailable and no reason was given. the card is not out of date. it's literally the card that my subscription is linked to, which turned over just fine in november. so I went back to the bank, only to find that the information I have on paypal is exactly correct down to the last capital letter. I use this card for literally everything, and I don't have trouble with anything but dndbeyond.
so absolutely every piece of info you ask for is perfect. why can I still not buy things!
the app is not an option as the ap will no longer work on my phone wich will not run anything later than ios15 and I am not updating my iphone from 2016 just to get access to the ap I never use. I use my desktop computer for all things. my phone is a thing that people ring/text me on. that's all

In case there is any confusion for dev reporting purposes, some of us are thrilled with Underdark mode and would be quite the bit disappointed if it were changed. It is up there with my top 5 favourite things about DDB.
is this an appropriate place to ask a member of staff about an issue i'm having with the homebrew creator?
This is the channel to ask for community technical support regarding DnDBeyond tools and services.
What’s the issue?
am i able to use different forms of payment at DDB checkout?
got a mastercard giftcard for christmas and want to get some books but the amount on it wont cover the total transaction. am i able to pay the remaining with some other form of payment?
I don’t think you can do that in DDB itself, but you might be able to set that up in PayPal and then use that in DDB.
dang that sucks. thanks tho ill research that
Is it intentional that the 2024 artificer is the only 2024 casting class that doesn't have access to circle casting or is it a ddb glitch?
Known bug.
Fixed!
Fixed!
Is there a list of Adventures that are included in the Quick Play option for Maps? Specifically I am wondering about the Vecna adventure...
With one exception, it's only first-party books that have released this year.
- Astarion's Book of Hungers
- Dragon Delves
- Forgotten Realms: Adventures in Faerun
- Forgotten Realms: The Tenebrous Stone
- Heroes of the Borderlands
- Intro to Stormwreck Isle
- Lorwyn: First List
- Netheril's Fall
- Stranger Things: Welcome to the Hellfire Club
You'd still be able to use Vecna's maps, but they won't be prepopulated with monsters, fog of war, etc.
Thanks!
Was this to me?
Yes. See here (#ddb-feedback message) and the message after it.
Ty!
I have done this twice. both times they have insisted it's an error on my banks end. it's not. I'm also not the only one having this issue. the two times I contacted support I got told to do something that didn't resolve the issue and it cost me a lot of money just to find out that all my info was absolutely correct. every number, every letter, every capital. the second support reply I got was basically a copy of the first one almost word for word.
Ugh. I opened a ticket about not being able to delete that species option and got back a generic "We don't offer support for homebrew tools."
I would reply back anyway, given that the error you were shown literally says "This is our fault".
lol That's good.
I did reply stating it's not about homebrewing but about a glitch with their site.
Click the Add button for whichever origin feat you want to add
What part here is confusing for you?
i clicked on magic initiate cleric and put theese
That fixed your Magic Initiate feat, yeah. But you still haven't added your second one. Do you know what you want your 2nd Origin feat to be?
Ok so it looks like now you have 3. Magic Initiate Cleric, Magic Initiate Druid, and Skilled. So you need to remove one of those
Ok great. Now you have 2

How do I make a looking for a dm post as in do I just stick to the same format as everyone else or is there a way for me to give the correct info to the bot and he will post?
The instructions are in #find-a-game . Idk if that answers your question though
That sounds like a question for #character-discussion! (This channel is for getting help with D&D Beyond.)
Anyone able to help me with my character? I've filled in all of the fields as far as I can tell, but the app keeps saying my character isn't configured yet. I'm guessing it has something to do with putting in manual stats since I haven't done that before, but I'm not 100% if that's the issue cause it looks fine to me
That message will appear if you’re missing a class, species, or ability scores.
What did you select for each of those?
Cleric, centaur, and then I put the manual numbers in the boxes
Are you on mobile? Try just refreshing the character sheet. Sometimes things get cached.
Essentially, go back to the characters menu, refresh the list, and open your character again.
Yeah it's mobile. I tried refreshing it and also closed/reopened the app and it's still saying that
Well I made a copy and it's working just fine on that so I guess I'll delete the original lol
Like I said, sometimes those things get cached. Just waiting a little while (or potentially clearing cache on the app) should do it. But using the copy should also suffice if that works for now.
That LOTR backdrop should now be fixed!
My D&D Beyond app isn’t showing 2024 rules for some reason
Can you be more specific?
What are you expecting to see where, and what do you see there instead?
Can I take a screenshot and show you
Yeah, go for it!
Does anyone know why Enable Content Sharing isn't being shown on my campaign screen? Is there a limit to the amount of campaigns I can have content sharing enabled?
Yes there is a limit of 5 campaigns
.....well that's....hmm....
But if someone else in the group has a Master Tier subscription they can enable content sharing on up to another 5 campaigns
Kinda makes DnDBeyond not very West Marches-server friendly. Hrm....okay thanks.
D&D wasn't originally designed around freeform no-set DM, no set players kinds of play. Thats a relatively new innovation in D&D play.
Most West Marches servers just have everyone join one / two campaigns for content sharing and then run it out of that. Theres really nothing outside the encounter builder that cares about campaign size.
It supports up to 12 people per campaign so you can really load them up.
I got 3 campaigns already full, fourth one nearly filling up. It's a struggle at times.
If you have over 60 people in your Westmarch server, you really ought to have more than 1 person with the appropriate subscription anyway because it becomes unbearable to manage fast.
And not just people, but active people. If folks aren’t participating actively you can temporarily remove them from the campaign to open the slot.
Ok
Is the first one the 2024 rulebook or no?
The PHB in your first image is the 2024 one, yeah.
So is the Basic Rules in that first image, and the Monster Manual in the second.
Oh ok thanks but my character is also by the 2014 rules I think and is there any way to change that or is it fine?
If you want to change them to any of the 2024 character options, you’d need to remove the 2014 ones you selected and then select the 2024 one instead.
How do I do that since the books got an update or something like that
For example, if you selected
Paladin (the 2014 class) and wanted to change it, you’d need to remove your class and select
Paladin instead.
Ok I’ll try
Whether you should be using the 2014 or 2024 options is a question you should ask your DM, though.
Unfortunately I don’t think I can change to the 2024 fighter class because for some odd reason it won’t let me
Do you have Core Rules enabled for that character?
You’ll need that enabled to select anything from the 2024 PHB.
I don’t have the 2024 PHB it’s too expensive right now
More generally, the books display you are showing shows you what books you can read from.
There are separate settings in the character builder that determine what books are used for character creation and leveling.
If nothing else, most people would be using either 2014 PH or 2024 PH as their primary source and may not even need the other in a character.
Fighter (the 2024 class) is in the Basic Rules. You don’t need to buy anything to use it. You just need Core Rules enabled for that character.
Ok I might have to redo my character idk
Do you have Core Rules enabled for that character?
It’s like the very first option on the Home tab.
When I switched to regular human it showed the plus 1 to all stats thing
Only have to redo if you are using something your DM does not allow.
It had all the rules including the 2014 rules enabled but I disabled them
Yeah I just disabled the 2014 rules
Testy McGee is hilarious, I love it every time I see you post it
I am trying to make a homebrew feat where my players choose to gain a skill between perception, insight, or survival. I can’t find how to make the feat allow a choice between the three skills and award it. Only all skills, or certain predetermined combinations that don’t include the one I’m looking for. Is there just not any way to do this or am I missing something?
Unless this has been changed we can't make a feat with options like that.
Your best bet as of right now would be to make three separate feats with your three choices.
Hey Im having some issues creating a subclass, DnD beyond says I don't have the correct levels (fighter), but I have all the correct levels for the features (3, 7, 10, 15, 18), and I also don't have any extra levels. What am I doing wrong?
All features are 'Granted' if that changes anything
Q: The Ritual Caster Feat seems to be granting me more prepared rituals than my Proficiency Bonus, is this a known bug?
Aaand, it doesn't seem to put the spells prepared that way on my sheet, either.
Have you tried creating a feature at Level 1? As of December 20th, Fighter had a bug requiring this.
Also see: #ddb-support message
-# you can ignore my suggestions from back then and refer to Spamandtuna post.
Some things in Beyond cannot be programmed exactly.
What it is doing is displaying 6 possible slots for Rituals which equals your maximum possible proficiency bonus. It is leaving it up to you to leave the extras blank and only fill in enough of them to equal your proficiency bonus.
One of the Wizards folk might report it as a bug but in the meantime, just leaving the extra slots blank should work.
I think this one is buggy too. I cannot get them to appear either.
Annoying, but I guess I can work around it.
Hey, one of my players is getting a mastiff. I'd like for the player to have a one-click button on the character sheet that rolls the mastiff's To Hit. I can't seem to figure out how to do that. Under "Extras" the Mastiff listing doesn't have a clickable field or any way to add one. I looked at custom actions, but they all key off the character's stats, not an extra's stats, and maddeningly, there's no way (that I see) to just force the to-hit to a +1.
What am I missing? Do they just have to use the die roller?
Can someone tell me how to get the oath of vengeance subclass for paladin
it's in the core rules so at level 3 you get to pick your subclass, to pick it, go to your character builder and select it in the class section, should highlight as an option if your character is the right level
Assuming you are making a 2024 Paladin do you own the 2024 Players hand Book or are you in a campaign where it is shared with you?
.. and for 2014, you would similarly need to own or have shared with you the 2014 Players Handbook.
Note in both cases, you need DDB's digital version for it to appear. Owning a paper copy doesn't give access.
The command spell is coming from a feat (in this case magic initiate (cleric)), but it seems your character is a wizard. That second image is the display only for your wizard spells. The feat grants you extra spells.
Exactly. You will find Command on the Cleric list because that was the MI you chose.
Anyone else experiencing issues with D&DBeyond not properly loading and having general outage issues at the moment?
it doesn't seem like a full outage ight now, just very slow to load and seemingly random with what does and doesn't work after waiting for things to load
is the website having issues right now i keep getting the 504 error or things will just not load
Having the same issue here
It's having some sort of issue, yeah, I've been getting the exact same 504 error. It's also inconsistent because sometimes things do work after loading for a long time
Also having this issue. If I try to load anything other than the homepage
Yep, me too. 504 Gateway Time-out.
Also, the status page says everything's fine, when it isn't . . . .
When site does load, it is very slow and sluggish. As if there is heavy load or network traffic.
I am having trouble with slow loading times for the past few hours, and a few beholder zombies have been surfacing when I try to edit homebrew. Maybe the site was partying a little too much for the new year as well.
Hey y'all! I was pinged about this on Reddit. I've pinged the team to see if they can figure out what's going on, but we are still on holiday, so hang tight!
I would say custom status for site: Hungover, but that is perhaps not the best example for the younger site users. First day of the New year, bumps can be expected. Thanks for getting back at least.
is anyone noticing dnd beyond being a little buggy right now? i cant really load it on opra
Yes, I'm getting 504 errors and very slow loading times at the moment as well. The homepage seems fine, but trying to go to My Campaigns, or filtering any of the Spells/Items/Monsters is resulting in 504 errors.
yeah. im hoping its up soon again because i was planning on running my campaign tonight
Seems I not able to access any items I purchased or shared ... none
Yeah, the site works fine with the exception of getting campaigns to work
I can't access anything from my library
times out on everything except the homepage for me
yea.. same here
i can access characters and thats it.
Same here, can't get past the home page.
i get to characters but no sources or campaigns. i believe it was said they are looking into it but bc of holidays a fix might be a little delayed
Several posts up, the community manager addressed it as best they could
yup yup! the team is still working on the cause. I have my eyes on it
Hi all - any update to this? I had to delay my session.
Seems like a stretch that this will be resolved tonight?
Unfortunately, I can't give an estimate to resolution, I'm sorry
slow
Relieved that we ended our session before it went completely dark.
Have you tried turning it off and turning it back on?
And sage, don’t forget the sage.
Revert to a known good save
Update for everyone: surprising no one who's been dealing w/ this, our team has isolated the issue to campaigns, the compendium, forums, and homebrew per the status page.
I don't like making announcements without knowing what's going on; now that I have this, expect an announcement very shortly
Thank you so much LaTia for keeping us updated! We really appreciate all you do <3
maybe a little whack will help
lemme just get my baseball bat
I cast bless
Now I’m getting a restart message. It took them a while, but they are finally taking my advice and restarting.
Did i missed a announcement or why is the DDB website down ?
And is it only server maintainance or any special/notable feature/update coming which is (like "sometimes") brought without any official info ?
no updates so far on why the website is down, does anyone know what happened?
ive got a game to start in 30 minutes i hope this gets fixed 🙁
Mine was supposed to start 13 minutes ago.
Today was my finale of Vecne: Eve of Ruin! lol, i am really hoping I dont have to push this T_T
oh, we're just in Avernus for that
Just had the site load for me! Hopefully it's fixed for everyone
oh dammit, here we go again...
Big oof, feel for the team when it all goes wrong and everyone's on holiday! 😬 Fingers crossed it settles down 🙂
Slight 2 hour delay but thank you support team for fixing the issue
Luckily the worst I've experienced is rolling into work to discover a pipe burst in the ceiling. What a mess 🤣
service seems up for logging in - but using Search to find something, like an adventure by title, is taking for e v e r
I'm still having troubles with accessing sourcebooks
So after I made so much noise that I feel like I almost got myself banned... The status page actually got updated and an actual announcement was made. It's a Christmas miracle! 😂
Thank you for stepping up and finally offering some transparency. It's appreciated.
What kind of trouble?
I don't understand something. It says that there's an active event about the server issues happening right now but I can't seem to find a way to join it?
Anyone else noticing D&D Beyond loading web pages very slowly today? PST time zone here if it makes any difference
And for reference, other websites I am simultaneously on do not load slowly
Ah thank you!
same error messages as prior. But appears to be better now
"Please enter birthdate and jurisdiction before Jan 27—update early to avoid disruptions." can someone expline this to me pls
Due to recent legal shifts across the world and other things, D&D is now having to implement an age verification process.

Here’s hoping this gets resolved before my session tomorrow 😅
Im assuming your issues is the token not showing on the map after you add them? (Based on what you posted about in #ddb-feedback )
Are you sure they arent being added and not just being add far off the screen?
I want to first thank you for your time and this discord to be able to keep on top of everything.
OK this may have been asked somewhere but I could not find it. Is there a bundle or subscription to give me access to everything digitally?
Not currently. There used to be a Legendary Bundle that allowed you to buy all books up to that point but this product been discontinued and is no longer avaialable.
Has there been any talk about a subscription model to access all the materials? I would gladly pay a premium to have access to everything.
We are not privy to D&D's product team and what they are developing and planning on offering. I doubt there will be a subscription access like that at least in the near future.
Oh well, Gotta do it the old fashion way then lol, Thank you a ton. I appreciate the help and input.
I'm trying to set up a homebrew feat where the player has a choice to increase Strength, Wisdom, or Charisma by 1, to a maximum of 20. How would I set this up? I see there's an option to create a modifier with type "Bonus" (is that the right one?) and subtype "Choose an Ability Score to increase by 1," but I can't see how to limit it to 3 specific ability scores.
Is the website experiencing errors when trying to create an original homebrew monster? Tried several times and filled the initial required info and no luck.
That specific combo might not currently be possible on a feat. You can search for subtypes that start with "Choose Strength" to see which combos are available.
Anyone have any suggestions on how to set up a projector to display Maps VTT as the players would see it while keeping the DM controls hidden on another screen?
What kind of errors, specifically?
let me replicate and upload a screenshot.
It's a feat from some third party content my DM is running, so unfortunately I don't have a choice on which scores to use. Is there any kind of workaround? I haven't actually played D&D using DDB before so I don't know how having a feat set up incorrectly will affect the game.
If it's just for a personal game, I'd simply use the modifier that lets you choose any ability and then use it to choose one that qualifies.
If it's just for your character specifically, you could even just eliminate the choice and have it automatically grant the one you wanted.
Not much there to go on, huh? 😅
Are you able to create a monster with just the bare minimum amount of info?
If so, there could be a problem with the specific info you're trying to add.
So creating just a simple, default monster and then editing it piece by piece could help you track down where the issue is.
I tried that so I could build up from that once the page was created for it. Same error.
Heyo, really hoping to get some help - couldn't find any other support method.
Purchased core rules on the beyond app (android) was charged via Google play successfully, but can't access the book in app or online. Not showing under account licenses or anything at all
If I open it back in the marketplace then add to cart now I get the following:
But can't open or use it
When using 2 weapons that have the light or finese properties do I mark 1 of them as dual wield? Since I can make the extra attack as part of my attack action instead of a bonus action?

I was hoping for some assistance with adding images to the home brewed Items I have created for my campaign. When I attempt to upload an images I get a 403 Forbidden Error.

Is it possible to designate an off-hand somehow on the character sheet on D&D Beyond? I noticed that all weapons are shown with full damage. The off-hand attack should not include the strength modifier when using Two-Weapon Fighting.
Open the customize menu on the weapon in your off hand and mark the Dual Wield checkbox
Awesome!! Thanks.
Do you get the same issue in another browser or on another device?

trying to load my maps vtt, but my game just says no map selected and never loads thetoolbar to select a map etc. the game log shows up so it's getting that far, any ideas? tried edge/chrome
Is there a way to summon the Rangers primal companion as a token on Maps VTT? Or do I have to homebrew a token?
That’s up to you. It’s just a tool there for you to use. If you don’t want to use it, you don’t have to.
Have you tried Restore Purchases? From the main screen of the app, click your avatar in the top left, and you should see it there.
Does this happen with all images or just a specific one? Do you get the same issue in another browser or on another device?
Make sure they have it added on their Extras tab. Then when adding tokens it should be listed under companions
I have tried on 3 different browsers/devices.
mobile Chrome,
Desktop Firefox
and tablet Chrome
I also have attempted with 6 different images on all of the above devices and used assorted file sizes 47Kib - 240 Kib
I do have one additional windows laptop that I can try that has Edge browser.
Will do. Thanks.

Is anyone else having issues with books they own not showing as "Purchased" or being filtered out when selecting "Owned" on https://www.dndbeyond.com/en/library?
Screenshot of one example here but this is affecting a handful of books I own.
yes, it is a known issue and should be graphical only. the devs hope to fix it quickly after their back from holiday break
this is the message I got before the vtt toolbars stopped loading and it just says no map selected now, tried edge/chrome. seems once I got that error on a map, it stops loading regardless of browser.
Thank you!!
This is a long shot but a teacher friend and I were wondering if the “educator’s license” for schools is suspended right now?
We got approved but never saw any of the digital resources get added to the licenses.
Might anyone know if this is still available?
I own "Lost Mine of Phandelver" but none of the content is available in Maps VTT (tokens, maps). I should be showing up as an "Adventure" option in the Maps section at the very least.
was the potent dragonmark ever fixed?
I have been unable to purchase digital content both yesterday and today in the Marketplace. Is this a known issue? Australia here
Yep!
I see you have purchased it, but did you purchase a paper copy of the adventure? You have to own the digital version for stuff to appear in Maps.
Is it listed in your entitlements? (see below link listed as "licenses")

why dont i get all the subclasses in character builder?
do you own all the books that you're expecting to see the subclasses from or are they being shared with you through a campaign?
?tag ddb missing
Missing Content?
If you can’t access a book or find an available character option, here’s some important things to check:
- Are your Account Entitlements in sync? If not, you’ll see a button to let you manually trigger a sync.
- Did you purchase the book yourself, or is it shared with you through one of your campaigns?
- If you purchased it, is it listed under Current Product Licenses?
- If it’s shared with you, is this character assigned to the campaign that’s sharing it?
- Do you have the right checkboxes enabled in your character settings? The checkboxes at the top under “Sources” and “Partnered Content” control which options are available for your character. If in doubt, check them all.
- Are you using the right class? There are two versions of each core class: the 2024 one under "Core Rules" and the 2014 one under "2014 Core Rules". Options available for one might not be available for the other. For example, some options for
Cleric (the 2024 class) might not be available for
Cleric (the 2014 class) and vice versa.
If you're missing content in the character builder, it is best to check the above things: #ddb-support message

oh thanks, i didnt know you had to purchase all of the books
Arguably, Just the ones with content you want to see, but yeah.
However, if you join a campaign with a friend who has something you do not, those things should appear for character(s) in that shared campaign.
☝️ A Master Tier subscriber also needs to enable Content Sharing for that campaign before that happens.
Im still a bit bitter i cant limit WHAT creation stuff they can use. I have almost 100 books. If i campaign share they have access to everything i bought, when i only want creation options from core and maybe 2 other books and the rest off limits. Made me question people joining campaigns and then too busy to join in game for months at a time. Making them not be readable is great, but having to share every class and perk i paid for is not. But i still want to share books within my boundaries
I would also love to see better restrictions in the character builder or more accurately for me, more finite control. As I play a lot of AL, it would be nice if DDB had a way to limit the books as I have given up on dreaming of AL filters to be built in. Not the same req, but a parallel one?!
I ended up deleting every campaign i was running and quitting every one i was in because i felt used. Now when i run again im prob just going to disable content share unless i have more control on what and how i share. I spent thousands. I dont like feeling the way that felt
How can I control what character sheet is used for exporting to PDF? I want the new 2024 layout, but I get the tired old 2014.
hi, im trying to hb a subclass, but bcuz the forums are disabled i cant use the snippets cuz i cant rmbr em. is there anywhere on here that has them?
Are you printing a 2024 character though? There are some things that are different for 2024 so printing a 2014 for 2024 can result in blank boxes or things that would not get filled out.
It should be a 2024 character, although it was originally created almost 5 years ago, so original it is a 2014 character.
I should have changed everything to 2024 rules
When/if you change class to 2024, it should automatically shift the print.
Well, it doesn't unfortunately 😔
What are you trying to add, specifically?
Hi! I was suggested to come here with my problem- My cleric doesn't have access to Toll the Dead, I own the physical 2024 book but not digitally, is there a way to do a work around?
You could add it as a homebrew spell, using your physical book as reference.
Hey i've been trying to make a post in the looking for players chat for my campaign, but it says i don't have permission. Is there something i have to do first or something?
Check #find-a-game for instructions!
Thank you
I just wanted to bump this question, as I am curious about it as well.
I don’t think so.
Hi. Is there a way for a DM to remove a spell from a campaign? If I wanted to ban a spell but keep the rest of that sourcebook, is there a way to choose content that isn't available for a given campaign?
No. I would just tell the players not to pick that spell.
I see, unfortunate
Is there a good way to represent 2024 True Strike on the character sheet? I'm noticing the spells damage is incorrect, and it provides no way to make the attack roll with the spellcasting modifier
Well, that sucks. But thank you for clearing it up 🙂
I'm aware of the math, I'm wondering if there's something I can do with my sheet so it's easy to roll to hit and roll damage like any other cantrip or weapon attack might be
No
That too is unfortunate
If its a D6 weapon you can add to the dice roll
More D6s
If you're asking for something that automatically rolls 1d8+2d6+spell casting score for example, not supported
You can add a custom action to your character sheet
Yeah this is pretty much it. I would like a way for my players to easily use the cantrip without having to do a bunch of manual work, as that's the whole reason I'm using DnD Beyond. I'll just make a bunch of custom actions I guess
On mine, I’ve added a second copy of the weapon. Then I customized to change the name, remove the weight, and use the correct bonuses. I also added a custom action to separately roll the True Strike damage there on the Actions tab.
How did you get the custom action set up to roll the damage without a modifier?
And did you have to override the entire to hit modifier? Or can I set it up to use spellcasting + proficiency and spellcasting for damage?
And for the weapons, I just added the difference. I needed a +7 instead of a +5, so I just added the missing +2.
Ah damn well, that's unfortunate, but hopefully I can keep these up to date on my players sheets
Question: I'm building a homebrew subclass and I'm trying to add a dropdown menu for all the skills that this subclass can be proficient in, so how can I add that to my homebrew page?
I have this subclass added to my homebrew collection, but no matter what I do it won't show up. https://www.dndbeyond.com/subclasses/2028743-aura-knight
Plz help
It shows
Fighter (the 2014 class) at the top of that page, which means it won’t show up if your character uses
Fighter (the 2024 class) instead.
You could check if there’s a Modifier that works for your specific skills. Add one with Type: Proficiency, then see if there’s a Subtype that works for you. Look for the ones that start with “Choose”.
If not, you’ll have to use Options instead to make your own list.
Set up each available choice as its own Option, then inside, add the Modifier that grants that proficiency.
You’ll also need to check “Has Options” for the feature.
Does anyone else have this problem or knows a solution : i'm DMing a session and when i play on maps at some random times i cant add any new tokens there is a text cannot connect to library and a refresh button but nothing happens. When i reload the page the map disapears and is says "No map selected!" but the menu for map selection isn't there. It takes like 5 min for maps to work again. My work around is opening it on another Browser (switching from crome to firefox and back) where it works and switching back and forth whenever it happens on either browser. Im on Windows 10 Crome browser and the second one is Firefox?
Can you submit a support ticket? They'll work with you to get all the necessary information so we can better troubleshoot. And if you don't get a satisfactory response, ping me here.
I have a question regarding the dnd beyond homebrew tool.
I can't seem to get the set > armor class, modifier to work for my homebrew species
can anyone help me?
How exactly did you set it up? What exactly were you expecting it to do?
I'm trying to create a species that has the option of changing their natural armor after a long rest. I've set up the option so on can choose light, medium or heavy armour
but for some reason the modifier "set > armor class" isn't applying when the option is selected
ie, selecting medium should change the character's base AC to 13 + their dexterity modifier (limited to + 2) + their proficiency bonus. But when selected it doesn't do anything using the "set > armor class" modifier
using the "set > unarmored armor class" modifier, it treats the fixed value as a bonus instread of changing the based AC
How long ago did you last change it?
Homebrew edits can sometimes take up to 15 minutes to appear on the sheet.
I'm aware of that situation
I'm experiencing that while trying to get screenshots to show my issue XD
Have you tried making a homebrew copy of an official species that sets a base AC (like Tortle) to see how that was set up?
Here's the homebrew setup, the character sheet is taking a while to update
don't they treat it as a bonus to AC rather than changing the base?
No, it’s a base AC.
Ah, that Fixed Value might be the problem.
A base AC always starts with 10+DEX by default.
And you’ve got it set to then add 13 on top of that, which it might be refusing to do.
Try changing that to just a 3, which will give you a total of 13+DEX.
is there a way to change the 10 + dex to a 13 + dex within the species?
Yeah. Just change the fixed value there to 3.
You probably also want to change the subtype back to Unarmored Armor Class.
Or that separate DEX limit won’t apply.
What does the "minimum base armor" subtype equate to?
Alternatively, you could check to see if there’s a separate AC Max DEX Modifier that doesn’t apply only to unarmored ACs.
I’m not actually sure. I don’t recall seeing that one before.
changing the subtype to minimum base armor did exactly what I was trying to do initially XD
it set the base armor class to 13 + proficiency
Trying to create a fairy Rapier as a homebrew item as I need to change it from 1D8 to 1D6... how do I do this on dndbeyond please?
I tried basing it on a shortsword but it still says shortsword at the top - not sure if I can change that? Or base it on a rapier and change the default damage?
unfortunately there currently isn't a way to change the base damage roll of a weapon in dndb, the best substitute is what you've already done by using a shortsword as base
Ah ok thank you
You could also try adding it as a custom action directly on the sheet. Just go to the Actions tab and click Manage Custom in the top right corner to get started.
Hello. I have just taken level 2 in artificer and selected arcane focus as one of my infusions. I have tried equipping both and rod and a staff (both generic) but when I go to infuse the item, it tells me I don't have any items to infuse.
Thank you for any help you can provide.
I have also just tried several other items including magical items including one that required attunement. Nothing I do is allowing me to infuse an item for arcane focus. It will let me infuse for enhanced weapon, but that's not what I need.
Hi guys, is there any specific place to report D&d beyond bugs?
EDIT: I appear to have goofed. Apologies. A lot of bugs do get reported here but perhaps it is the other channel as per below?! Never seen anyone request a bug to be moved before.
ORIGINAL TEXT here...
You found it. Here.
I am sure there are others but here is where they go for this server.
Bugs are reported in #ddb-feedback generally. This channel is for help with doing stuff in DNDB.
The same mods peruse both, though, so probably either is 'fine.'
Thanks
They either broke it or it never worked because I tried too and it is not working for me either. I just don't know if it ever worked because I admittedly never picked it before.
This is the old class? It’ll only work with the old items.
I.E. you need 2014 Core Rules enabled.
Thanks. I'm over here squishing my brain.
Oh? let me go try that.
It didn't work for me turning on 2014 Core Rules.
I had to turn on Legacy/Noncore before it worked.
Nope. That didn't work either.
See above. 🙂
It's just broken.
Legacy/Noncore worked for me, see pic.
I had your problem until I did that and refreshed the page.
lol, only to find out that i don't have anything but a cantrip that is a spell attack. Nothing in 1st level spells.
Yeah, L1 spells for Artificer in 2014, even subclasses, are I believe all save spells.
In 2024, I know at least 1 subclass gets an attack spell. Still, thin, very thin.
-# I think just Alchemist & Cartographer.
Tech Support! hi. We have a player new to DND attempting to claim a character in a campaign but they are getting errors. They are on mobile and when they attempt to claim the character they get this ss. They have no characters made on their account. Any fixes?
Is there a shortcut to get to the remove fog of war button? Going to the fog of war tab with the shortcut always going to "adding fog" by default
It says there “This user has already reached the maximum number of characters.” For non-subscribers, that means 6. They’ll need to remove one of their existing characters or subscribe for unlimited characters before they can add another.
When you say they have not made any, is it possible they have claimed 6? Claimed would count against the 6.
What characters do they see here?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters
Thanks, they say they have no other characters though, that they made some but then deleted them all. Would a log out / login help?
Hi there, I could use a bit of help. I have a character in a campaign with content sharing, but none of the content from that campaign is showing up. Everything is just saying I need to purchase it on avrae. The books I know for a fact are there since other people aren't having the issue.

Please check the things in the post by Dyno
1 is yes, 2 is shared content, 3 is yes, 4 is yes. But it's more so not showing up on Avrae? I don't know if this is even the right place to ask about that
Couldn’t hurt to try. If that doesn’t work, though, they may need to contact customer support.

I did it in DMs lol
I did
And you are able to access the spell here?

Shows up just fine
Can you try running !ddb-debug?
It isn't even showing the right name, but I only have one account so now I'm REALLY confused. I might need to try figuring that out.

or even the Avrae discord server, people there have probably helped trouble shoot that exact problem countless times
FWIW the main site had a bunch of different issues a few days ago, so checking with their support as well wouldn't be a bad idea, in case there are lingering issues. I haven't seen if forums are even back online yet.
I want to add the weapon property "Finesse" to the text of a homebrew item but am not sure how to do it, since [property] and [weapon property] don't work. Any suggestions?
Have you tried creating a homebrew weapon based on a weapon with finesse and then copying the text over to your other homebrew?
Copying the link to the property page prevents publishing so I am trying to avoid doing that. It would work, yes, but can't then share with the community.
Also, for reference I am adding finesse to a longsword which doesn't normally have it, thus the reason for doing this the hard way lol
I meant just copying the specific text related to the finesse property.
I.e. to make sure the formatting is the same
So you mean the mechanical details?
Ah gotcha. I could do that in the meantime. I like having the mouse-over link present as well
No you got it.
Try [wprop]finesse[/wprop]
So, I know Otherworldly Steed is in the Find Steed spell, but does DDB have a way to add the Otherworldly Steed either as a creature or some other way? It seems like a big oversight as for a number of Paladins, it's kind of a staple, especially in 2024 with free casts et al.
That's why Spamandtuna gave you that link. If they follow that, they will see whatever DDB thinks are their characters. If they no longer need those, they can just delete those (or at least one of those) and they should be able to create another.
That worked a treat! Thank you so much! Is there a place I can look to see all of those?
They're on the forums, which are unfortunately down while they work on fixing the performance issues they were seeing.
Ah ok I appreciate it. I noticed they were down when I went to go look. I'll have a check back in a couple days. Thanks again!!
how do i make the arcane armor in dnd beyond? im gonna play the new artificer but cant figure out how to actually make and equip the armor.
ah nevermind i think i figured it out
I keep getting Error 500'd while trying to look through Magic Items.
Are dice also down while there's DDB issues right now? Me and a couple players are noticing that the "Dice Rolling" checkbox is auto-unchecking itself instantly/constantly. Seems resolved now.
How do I make a custom background to get grappler?
or can it only be had at lvl 4?
If 2024, only at Level 4+ as it's not an Origin feat or otherwise permitted at Level 1.
-# Someone else will have to answer for 2014. I'm out of touch with it.
hey, is there any way to set up an item to prepare spells through it? im trying to make an item similar to the spellbooks from tasha's that prepare spells for a wizard so that they can cast the spell using their slots
or, alternatively, is there a way to increase the amount of spell memory available to a character, so they can prepare more spells?
Hello support. I am unable to read any "shared content" books from my friend who is sharing with me. How do i fix this?
Question: I'm currently making an item and am trying to reference 2024 items and spells using the [spell]SpellName[/spell] system and it's not working. I figure the answer would be on the forums but they are down atm.

To pull info for the 2024 stuff you need to use [spells] and [/spells]
im trying to make a species with unarmored defense, where they get 12 + their con. similar to loxodon. but I don't know what modifiers to add to make that work
tyvm
You might be entering it in a field that doesn't allow that though, but assuming that it does, is there an item that you know of that has the item in question that you could create a copy of to see how it was done in there?
When I make items, I always put it in the field at the bottom that says "Spells" and for the text, I just type in what the spell is. I don't link it in there.
See attached. This is one I created for the Spider Staff.
Add a modifier tp your species that sets unarmored ac to 12.
Then add a 2nd modifier that adds a bonus to ac equal to con.
Dex should automatically be added to all that
how do I add a modifier to set the unarmored ac to 12? I have it like this and it still says 10 ac without armor.
You can make a homebrew copy of those Tasha’s spellbooks if you want to see how they were set up.
Likewise here: you can make a homebrew copy of Loxodon if you want to see how that was set up.
I don't have loxodon
But here you’ll need to change the Fixed Value to 2.
It starts with 10+DEX by default.
I tried that as well and it still said 10
How long ago did you change it? Homebrew edits can sometimes take up to 15 minutes to appear on the sheet.
that might have been the issue I guess
Is there a way to make someone else a DM in a campaign I start?
No. Whoever creates the campaign is considered the DM.
Note though that you can just create a new one (and abandon the old one if necessary).
The DM can create a new game and then whoever is the master sub can turn on sharing. As I understand it, they don't have to be the DM to turn it on and it isn't only one person's books that get shared.
Just watch the max 5 limit on sharing. Might have to collapse an old one.
I have an a sub class I want to make, I have years of experience with D&D and many other TTRPGs but I am not great with D&D beyond. Where would I go to learn? Please direct message me if you can help me do this, it is kind of an in-depth sub class changing the stat used for certain checks.
When the forums are back up, they can be a good resource. Another way to learn can often be to copy an existing feature and see how it was coded.
It should be noted that Beyond is often coded with what is needed to code existing rules so when you go away from those things, you may find Beyond just wont' support it. Certain other things just aren't public facing, for example, last I heard, new classes were not possible for us to code even though DDB developers can. Similarly, certain commands or formatting work in some areas and not in others. And thus, as I said, it often helps to look up how something was implemented as a way of learning.
Hearing what other people are doing, there are often workarounds being used, such as designing a feat or a magic item for something that is not actually one of those things, but in doing so, allows certain things to be added that are difficult otherwise. Obviously, this is not necessarily going to jive with people who aren't comfortable using workarounds to wedge things in to Beyond's system and that really only want the system to just support what they want out of the box.
Unfortunately, an "Idiot's Guide to ..." or a step by step learning program are things I believe do not exist here. As I understand it, personal coaching is also not really something people do. However, as mentioned, some of the posts on the forums can have assorted reference pages that can help you have some commands related to specific things in one place, but as I understand it, there is no master document or central location where all of this would be.
But that's also some of what we do here... When you get stuck, you can ask and a fellow user might be able to help you out.
does dndbeyond ship physical books to the UK? i can't find waterdeep: dragon heist on the international or UK stores
I think there is issue with that particular book. I own it digitally, but it will not update at all
i believe that was one of the books that got absorbed by tyranny of dragons
so my oath spells for oath of conquest paladin aren't showing as always prepared on my sheet in dnd beyond. is this a bug?
What once are missing?
And are you using the 2014 or 2024 subclass?
armor of agathys, command, hold person, and spiritual weapon
The 2014 or 2024 version?
What have you added so far? Where exactly are you stuck?
D&D Beyond itself only ships within the US. dndstore.wizards.com handles all shipping outside the US.
You’re referring to WDH in the Android app, correct?
i'm assuming if it's not on dndstore.wizards.com it's not anywhere - as i can only find the core rules & the newer stuff on there
No, that was Hoard of the Dragon Queen and Rise of Tiamat.
2024
That's a known issue on the 2024 Paladin.
weird. ok. I'll just write them down for sessions
You could check with local sellers in your area, but yeah, doesn't seem like it'd be available to buy directly from WOTC.
devastating news
So I have bought the 2024 PHB, and Drow is still not coming up under species for me? 😭
You need to choose the 2024 Elf.
Then as part of their Elven Lineage trait, you’ll be able to select Drow.
I’ve literally just searched in here and found that, thank you!
Is there any way to see what homebrew another player in my campaign has?
You can filter by homebrew in a character sheet
right, but without being in a character sheet.
Darn. Looking for a way to let someone see my homebrew collection
If you are in a campaign together, I think they should be able to view a link to a specific homebrew (like a subclass).
But there’s not a way to view all of it as a list.
Hmmm okay, thanks anyway 🙂
new to making homebrew stuff, cant seem to find a way to edit the highlighted section, its not in the description
That’s added based on the weapon type. It’s not possible to edit or remove it.
thanks
Hello im new here looking for some assistance with a problem on dnd beyond, am I in the right place or is there a link i should follow to a ticket system?

Hello
Please don't ping the whole moderator team. We cannot delete your account. You'll have to go through the proper channels and be patient: https://dndbeyond-support.wizards.com/hc/en-us/articles/7747241271444-Deleting-Your-Account
You can also simply choose not to use it.
Next question: when are they gonna answer
Be patient isn’t something when it’s about data collection and deleting datas sorry
In my entiere life. I have never ever seen anything like that. Where you have to contact the support in order to delete an account. This is absolutely unacceptable and completely stupid. How the hell created this rule
I belive deleting data in an emergency. I don’t know why I received a warning. What’s not an emergency for you might be an emergency for me.
Any posts pinging the entire mod team will be removed.
We do not have access to the support teams queue.
Folks are returning from holidays and they answer in the order tickets are received.
What kind of problem?
Shared content isn't showing for my character in my friend's (the content sharer) campaign. Just the core rules. I know theres something wrong because i can manually add a feat from the shared content in the app but not through the website's character builder
If you both check this page, are your Account Entitlements in sync?
?tag ddb entitlements
Account Entitlements
Account entitlements are how D&D Beyond identifies which content you can access. These are synced automatically in time, but if you're not seeing content you should have access to, visit Account > Licenses.
The Account Entitlements section at the top should ideally say "Your entitlements data is in sync!" If not, it will show a button to manually trigger the sync, after which your content should be available.
I have checked mine and it says its in sync, but i didnt think to check hers
And this is happening for the same character, but with different results in the app and on the site?
Or is it a separate character?
im sure its been asked before, fey touched feat spell casting issue? the selected spell only shows up to use once, not cast (like misty step)
I have a question about spell lists
The Sage Advice states this:
Which of a character’s spells count as class spells? For example, if I’m playing a Sorcerer, which of my character’s spells are Sorcerer spells?
A class’s spell list specifies the spells that belong to the class. For example, a Sorcerer spell is a spell on the Sorcerer spell list, and if a Sorcerer knows spells that aren’t on that list, those spells aren’t Sorcerer spells unless a feature says otherwise.
However, in the Beyond app, on my sorcerer/paladin, when I prepare as a paladin a spell which is also in the sorcerer spell list, it does not benefit from my Bloodwell Vial
Is this an error on the app or am I understanding that Sage Advice wrong?
This is a current system limitation that occurs for features that let the player choose the spell. They're currently able to add both versions only when a feature provides a specific spell.
That quote's meant to differentiate spells from your (single) class versus spells from your species, feat, etc.
For multiclassing, the following rule applies:
Each spell you prepare is associated with one of your classes, and you use the spellcasting ability of that class when you cast the spell.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/dnd/br-2024/creating-a-character#MulticlassSpellcasterSpellSlotsperSpellLevel
If I get a spell from a feat or a species which is also in the class list, would that qualify as a class spell then?
No
What matters is how you get the spell, not how it can be gotten.
If you get a spell from the Sorcerer spell list (because you’re a Sorcerer), then it’s a Sorcerer spell — regardless of whatever other spell lists you could have learned it from.
Likewise if you get one from the Paladin spell list.
Spells you get from a species aren’t from a class spell list unless the species says otherwise.
High Elf, for example, lets you choose a cantrip from the wizard spell list. That therefore counts as a wizard spell.
But any other Elf spells aren’t tied to any class.
The forums are still down. Any idea when they'll be back up and running?
Sorry for the delay, im also at work atm, here is a screenshot from the app allowing me to choose feats from beyond the core rules, and another screenshot from the website limiting me to only the core rules
In D&D beyond I’m trying to make a Necromancer wizard, and I have the player’s handbook shared with me through someone in a campaign. The problem is when I go to select the school for the wizard the only option that shows up is the school of evocation. Does anyone know how to fix this?
Is this character assigned to that campaign?
Shared character options can only be used inside the campaign that’s sharing them.
Is this the same character in both screenshots?
Yes
If you open that character on the website and check their character settings, which Sources are enabled?
Everything is enabled, the screenshot does not show legacy/non-core but that’s enabled too
That helped me thanks
Oh wait. The “missing” feats shown in the first shot aren’t Origin Feats, which is why they aren’t shown in the “Choose an Origin Feat” option in the second.
If you want an accurate comparison, you’d need to check Manage Feats on the website as you’ve done in the app.
The content does show on the website under “manage feats“
I’d say Content Sharing is working as expected, then.
Am I not allowed to select the other feats as my origin feat?
In a previous screenshot, the only feats I’m allowed to select are from the core rules
Origin Feats were introduced in the 2024 PHB.
So since the 2014 PHB had no Origin Feats, it won’t appear in that selection.
If you’re instructed to choose a feat from a specific category, such as the Origin category, that category must appear under the feat’s name. If you’re instructed to choose a feat and no category is specified, you can choose from any category.

Hello everyone. I am having a hard time figuring out how to help my players. I am setting up a campaign with myself as DM and 6 players. I have them all added into my campaign on DnD Beyond and I have the master tir subscription and I have all of my owned books set up for content sharing but none of my players can use any content from the Eberron books in the character creator. Is there something else I need to do or is that just not something my players can do without owning the books theirselfs?
make sure entitlements are in sync for you and for all the players missing content as well.
Thank you a ton, I had no idea this was an option to try. Im sending a screen shot of this to all my players to make sure they try this to. Thank you again for the help!
accidentally bought a year sub to the dnd beyond subscription where can i talk to someone about fixing that if at all possible?
You'll need to reach out to customer support for any questions regarding purchases: http://dndbeyond.link/SubmitTicket
Thank You
I'm making a Monk in D&D Beyond and it's not giving me the option for creating a character with the Sailor background (I'm trying to get the Tavern Brawler origin feat), can anyone help? On the Home tab I have EVERYTHING checked so it should be showing up...
Do you not own the PHB24? Those 4 backgrounds are the ones from the free basic rules.
I have the physical version. Are you telling me I really need to buy the digital one in order to select it? Shouldn't that come standard since it's based off of PHB24 to begin with?
Owning the physical book is insufficient. You either need to own the digital copy on DNDBeyond or you need to be in a campaign with someone who is sharing it with you (and with content sharing enabled for that campaign).
This is like buying a physical copy of any normal book. You don't automatically get, say, the Kindle version of that book as well.
Well that blows, there goes $50 I'll never get back.
I incorrectly (and earnestly) assumed that PHB24 was standard when creating a character in DnD Beyond. Which, in my defense, it should be.
The Basic Rules are what you get for free, which are here: https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/dnd/br-2024
You could use the Homebrew system and type in everything yourself manually from your physical copy if you wanted.
Yes, I see that now, but not when I started making my character.
If you’ve got the physical book, you could use that to add Sailor as a homebrew background.
How would I do that if the skill proficiencies/tool proficiencies/etc. aren't able to be created as well?
The digital version of the PHB2024's not expensive.
The skill and tool proficiencies are included in the Basic Rules.
But not the one's I need to recreate Tavern Brawler, correct?
They are, yes.
The homebrew system allows you to make feats, and Tavern Brawler is 1-to-1 createable using it.
How would I go about doing that?
That’s a Custom Background, which is a little different.
But your skill and tool proficiency selections are available at the bottom of that screenshot.
I'm confused, what do I choose here then?
Again, a custom background is a little different from a homebrew background, which is what I’d suggested.
What we're suggesting is using the Homebrew tools here: https://www.dndbeyond.com/homebrew
Yes. It wont update or open that one book, and on pc it STILL wont show or filter by books i own. It shows 27 books owned. I own almost 100. My entitlements are in sync. I have legendary bundle. I CAN search for books i own and it does open and read, but its not in my owned content library where it should be. Support team said its just cosmetic (though it should be in my library) and they didnt address the wd dragon heist book prob at all
is the site down?
Not for me. What are you trying to access?
it went down brefly, its up now
Yoo Wsp guys, I recently bought the welcome to hellfire club set, I’m new to D&D and so are all my friends playing with me as the DM I was wondering if there is any way for me to get the books that I have physically online on dnd beyond or something without having to buy it again if anyone knows lmk or dm me please 🙏
Buying a specific product does not also give you access to a different product.
?books
There are four ways to access content on D&D Beyond that you may have in your physical books:
- Purchase the full digital book from the marketplace
- Purchase a digital/physical bundle from the marketplace
- Join a D&D Beyond campaign with someone who already owns the book where content sharing has been enabled
- Use the homebrew tools to copy the content from your physical book into D&D Beyond (Note: Do not publish any content copied in this way; it is for personal use only)
I really wish there was a tutorial for dnd beyond. I want to run welcome to hellfire club on ddb. Its my first time, i want to use the VTT (maps)
It’s absolutely frustrating not even knowing how to add the premade characters to the campaign, and thats just the beginning. How do i actually run this set?
Hi. PM for Maps here.
The onboarding experience is something we want to improve, hopefully starting in 2026.
In the mean time, I'd love to hear about what else is frustrating and hard to understand as a new user.
We do have this page, which admittedly is a bit of a firehose: https://www.dndbeyond.com/posts/1570-d-d-beyond-maps-how-to-start-playing-today?srsltid=AfmBOooCesPqRY1zMqmgfYAmhBqaVr9sk6MzYvUmvx2CLDz_WKxaN8zl
Thanks Zac, i appreciate all the work!
Well to begin with, why cant we just press on a pre made campaign and have the option of it being ready to go with the characters, maps and everything automatically? Then we can add or remove whatever we want. Like pressing start on video game if you know what i mean
Right now, i just cant figure out how to add the characters from hellfire club to the campaign
The monster tokens are missing their actual images for some reason.
And there’s no actual video tutorial that walks us through maps, what each button: features does on maps and how to actually use them etc… unless i am missing something
I can tackle a few of these questions!
press one button and everything is set up and ready to go.
In June, we launched a feature called Quickplay Maps, which is exactly this. We only have limited support of our back catalog right now - creating these is an intensely manual process. But it's something I am very passionate about doing more of and expanding support for. I was literally telling my boss 12 hours ago I want to do more of them, and his response was "well, what's stopping you?!" (Answer: I need to dig into some data and make a list of which products to prioritize)
If you look on our DNDbeyond YouTube channel, search for "dev updates". There isn't one for every feature, but there's one for most of the big ones.
One comprehensive video is tough for a few reasons - one, it would be very long! Two, it would get out of date every time we updated something. Which is going to be pretty often, moving forward. (There's a lot planned for January and February!)
So the individual dev update videos + that help page are the best resources right now.
As a product vision, we strive for Maps to be a Honda Accord, not an F-16. We want anyone to be and to sit down and immediately know how to drive. But your concern is heard, for sure, and there's more we can (and want) to do to improve that "sit down and turn the key" experience.
To your two problems:
- which monster tokens appear to be missing images?
- I'm not intimately familiar with our digital implementation of Hellfire Club, so I'll defer to one of the mods/support staff here to help you on that one.
To add a premade character to your campaign, you can open your campaign page, and select Create Unassigned Character, then Premade Characters.
Alternatively, you can simply send the campaign invite link to your players (which you’ll need to do anyway). They could then select Create a Character, then Premade Characters.
The part with your boss made me chuckle haha, and yes i understand now the effort it requires and i truly appreciate your passion towards this, it shows! I am glad plenty of updates are coming and you’re working on it. Its exciting and i am looking forward to it
I will have a watch through the playlist then definitely, and i fully agree with Honda Accord analogy, and turn key solution 🙌🏻
Basically all, i will try again soon maybe it was glitch. Also, when sharing content, can my friends create and use characters from campaigns i bought?
You don’t buy campaigns, you buy books. If you make a campaign, you can create characters in the campaign and set them as unassigned, and then other folks in the campaign can claim them as their own.
tl;dr: Yes.
are we still waiting on a fix on the visual issue of books not showing as owned even if they are? no rush since this isn't urgent but just curious on where that stands. thanks!
They said they'd work on a fix after the holidays, so I'd assume that's now in progress (but I don't know for sure).
Everyone just came back from the holiday break yesterday. The team is very aware of the issue and the discomfort and confusion it is causing!
Yes books i mean 👍🏻. Thanks
no worries!! thank you
Is there a way I can use my D&D Beyond Character Sheet on Roll20?
Has it been reported that items purchased in bundles are not showing as purchased in the library (sources)?
yes they recognized this before the holidays and said once the holidays passed they would fix it
but only a visual bug
Yes (you can exes them if you filter by all)
I don't think soo (outside of remaking the character in roll20)
not officially, no.
There’s an add on you can use in roll20 which pulls your character from DNDB, though I don’t recall what it’s called. Folks on that discord server might know offhand.
Can anyone help me determine why when I create a gnome character that they are getting racial +2/+1 as well as background +2/+1 options. It also happened when I used the Gnome as a base new race for homebrew
A little further testing on the homebrew, any race that I use (from the current core book) as a base is given the Ability Score Increases trait. This seems wrong possibly since I thought ASI was moved to backgrounds and not race.
There is a 3rd party extension that can do it but I dont remember what it is called. You can try asking in #third-party to see if someone there knows
You may be using a species that wasnt reprinted in the 2024 books. Wen you go to your character sheet it should only show one of those two. And I believe the system will use the one from the 2024 backgrounds if you selected one.
It will still ask you to pick the scores in both places but on the abilities tab should only show one when it list out where all the bonus come from
I think I have figured out the issue in the character builder. If one skips their background and goes straight to abilities, they wil have an ASI option. I assume this is to accommodate older backgrounds that do not have ASI in them. If they fill out their background (step 2) prior to moving on to abilities (step 4) the ASI option is hidden on abilities page.
If you turn on customise your Origin it shows up in abilities (moost of the time)
that option is not turned on
You can just select a background it will no longer be there (it is a fail save for if you get a 2014 background)
I'm looking for a little help from the DDB community. I'm getting back into doing a little DMing after 40 years of "growing up." I've invested heavily in books and adventures, etc. Now I'm looking for a decent VTT system for our in-person group. I plan to use this VTT solely for our local group and that is all. I stumbled across a company on Etsy called legendarytabletop.com and their systems look pretty cool. For someone who is a newbie to VTTing, what else would I need if I purchased one of the tabletop systems? According to their website, it works with "Fog of War, Epic Quest, Infinite Realms, or any other visual map display program..." - my problem is that I want to make sure it works with DDB. If I buy the maps and adventures from DDB, do I get access to them on the tabletop? Sorry for the newbie questions.
Thats more a question for #third-party as it isnt related to getting help with DnD Beyond's Toolset
