Ah okay. Thanks. But where do I use the command? In the find game or somewhere else?
i believe so
the new PHB explains rules for making custom backgrounds, but the custom background option in dnd beyond isn't up to date with those rules. when will that be changed?
There are no custom background rules in the PHB. There are rules for adapting older backgrounds. And there is a detailed description of the various parts of the new backgrounds. That's it.
You sir, are a genuine HERO.
THANK YOU.
That got it fixed. I didn’t realize there was a code. I’ve got access now.
I am getting the same issue, in addition to the posted screengrab.
account is synced too
Thanks!
I have a question about the subclasses features for D&D Beyond's 2024 classes's basic rules, and I don't know if this is a thing with it being the limited free rules right now or not but I just want to make sure. I own all of the Tasha's and 2014 PHB subclasses, and when I go to make a character and pick a subclass, it does not give me access to anything that was updated into the 2024 Player's Handbook in any capacity, but anything that was not reprinted (like Rune Knight, as shown in the image) is free to use as apart of the expanded rules. When the full free rules are rolled out (aka, when the book officially releases and all classes are usable on the free rules of D&D Beyond), will I be able to use any subclass that was reprinted that I paid for in a previous version for the updated classes? Or am I not allowed to use them regardless, and thus would need to rebuy them (and by proxy, the PHB) to use them for the 2024 classes?
The Free Rules will include one subclass for each class, much like the 2014 Basic Rules.
If you want to use any of the other new subclasses, you’ll need the new book.
Gotcha, thank you for the info!
Remaking my Drow Paladin and all of her lineage and "always prepared" spells are duplicated for some reason.
I see that it's because I have one that's "once per long rest" but it's really cluttered
Is it possible to be told how the 2024 sorcerer Innate Sorcery feature was implemented to have a dropdown change-able menu accessible in the character sheet view and not forcing the user to go into the Editor?
If it's possible to implement from-view-editable options in some way, that'd be wonderful to know.
Might be a strange question but hoping someone can explain for me.
So I have (and I think everyone does) the LMP adventure on DnD beyond, never bought it but I suspect is free for everyone (I can't find it in the shop to buy either)
The thing is, I want to run the campaign with the online maps. But they aren't in my map browser.
Now I can see them when I open the book but surely I should have access to the maps aswel. I could upload the maps myself obviously but I feel like that's not what you're supposed to do. Anyone have this issue or know how I could get them there without uploading them myself?
It’s was made free to claim fir a limited time before they released a expansion version called phandever and below that turned it into a full length adventure with the old version becoming legacy content
ah right, so basically. Upload maps or buy the Phandever and Below to get them in map browser
thanks!
How do i use bard magical secrets. i don't see any wizard or druid things in my spelllist
As a temporary workaround to missing feats, fighting styles and masteries - you can just goto feats in Character sheet and manually add the missing components. Eg a feat gives weapon masteries, fighting styles or missing feats in character creation.
This is known issue tagged a few times. Youll need to manually handle that till they sort it out !
I have Warlock/Bard with same issue.
I created a homebrew magic item, type wondrous. Added the magical secrets spell choices to it. Wondrous item spells show up on your spell list tab. Put in all the charge ranges on the spells and you can even upcast - just give yourself a bunch of charges and keep track of spell slots by ticking them off manually.
I think there's an issue with the Observant feat, it says its prerequisite is having either an INT or WIS of 13+, however, it's only showing up for me in the character builder if I have both of those scores at 13+.
As a lvl 4 2024 sorc, im unable to select the warcaster 2024 feat. i can select the 2014 one
I'm a mark of warding dwarf and updated my character to the 2024 wizard. I noticed the expanded spell list from my species are still the legacy spells, is this intended? If so is there a way to select the new versions of the spells instead?
They’re still working to backfill the maps for older adventures. They’ve typically been adding like two books a month. No idea when LMOP will get its turn.
That’s a known issue.
I’d imagine that’s working as expected (for now, at least), but you could make a homebrew copy of that species if you want to swap the spells.
Don't know if it has been reported, I had an issue with Firbolg species from mordenkeinen book along with 2024 rules (and I think it is an issue with all "old" species with carries innate spells). On the sheet I have the 2014 legacy version of detect magic and disguise self instead of the new ones.
I workaround that making an homebrew copy of the Firbolg and changing the spells to 2024 version of them. But I think it should not be the expected behaviour...
I don't know if it's been reported or not, but the Gloom Stalker's "Umbral Sight" feature isn't adding the 60 feet of Darkvision to the range of my Dhampir Ranger's Darkvision
are there any plans for localization options like language and units of measure?
Hello! Is there a way to turn off the new stuff so it doesn't appear in spell lists, etc.?
My players are all now very confused about two versions of many spells they can pick from.
hey how do i use the new 2024 player's handbook
i predordered it and thought that i could access it early if i had the master tier subcription
oh wait it's working!!
i can see the new classes ahhhhh
it's alive!!
thanks anyways
i'll enjoy reading it
after i like my doges
What does it mean when my sheet replaces the "cast" button with "at will"?
My fey-touched spells are just greyed out "at will", but doesn't "at will" mean you can use it infinitely? That's not what fey-touched says.
At will means you can cast it whenever you want
So is this a glitch on the character sheet then?
That's a known issue
Gotcha
So say someone preordered the 2024 phb and then got the master tier dndbeyond subscription to have access to all the content early, would they be able to share access via a campaign?
Should this feature for Ranger include an additional drop down to choose the figthing style? The Druidic Warrior option includes drop down's for the spells? I added the feat manually. No big deal to fix.
And Shield Bash looks wonky in the Action box but looks fine in Features and Traits
Yes they can!
Hey so I don't think the 2024 rules agonizing blast works properly
you can't take it more than once and its locked to eblast the first time
I believe thats a known issue https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/bugs-support/204813-players-handbook-issues-and-support-thread if you find anything new make sure to add it to that thread. The Devs are checking that threat regularly to make sure to get all the bugs
Welcome to the Support Thread for Player’s Handbook!
If you find any issues with the content from the sourcebook, or using it on a D&D Beyond character,...
Oh good, hopefully it is fixed soon
Oh is it also known that seemingly marking your weapon as a pact weapon does not swap it over to using the charisma modifier or at least that there is no toggle for doing so
Oh and also is it known that repelling blast cannot select a specific cantrip yet?
I was going into the character creator to make a new fighter character. For some reason I cannot select any of the fighting styles I have purchased, and I can only use the base ones. I went to look back at some of my old characters who seem to not be effected by this. Would someone be able to help me with this? I really just wanna make a unarmed fighter 😭
Heya, i have the preorder of the 2024 player handbook, and i have the Master subscription
however i cant seem to see it using the character creation method ^^
Is there a concise list of bugs right now? Or is it all individual comments in that thread?
?tag ddb missing
oops

Missing Content?
If you're missing something in the character builder, check the following things:
- Your entitlements are synced (Account > Licenses > Account Entitlements)
- The appropriate toggle in the character builder is on to enable the content
- The content is being shared with you from a campaign that your character is not in
If you've confirmed these things, try clearing your cache or logging out and in again.
The thread is all we got at the moment. The Devs are probably to busy fixing everything to make a comprehensive list for the public^^'
okay i done all 4 things @peak igloo and still not working hmm
got it to woek nvm ^^
:D
Anyone good with dnd beyond homebrew
Yeah I've done a bunch what's up?
I'm having trouble making a race
@thorny pewter Would you mind if I dm you a picture
Is there any way to set up a homebrew background to give you a selection of feats to choose from, or does it always have to be specifically the ones that you've chosen for that particular background?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/equipment/62-firearm
I get a 404 on this link
I ordered the 2024 players handbook early release. When does the actual book get delivered?
Thank you.
only the digital is early access
anyone has an answer for this?
No because we don't have insight into the DnDBeyond codebase and dev priorities and roadmap.
My understanding is they do want DnDBeyond to fully support D&D 5th Edition rules and options.
gotcha, thanks
I imagine this will all be fixed but worth a review
A. Double buffs like two defense fighting styles from 2014 + 2024
B. Multiple subclass stacking / optional rules from 2014
I’d imagine so, since there’s no item called “firearm”. Where did you find this link, though?
I was looking up the firearms table for reload and misfire stats. I just ran a search for it in the toolbar and it showed up as "equipment".
How do I add a familiar to my D&D Beyond character sheet?
Head to the Extras tab and hit “Manage Extras”.
Oh, Tyvm
I'm trying to see the individual listing for the spell Befuddlement (https://www.dndbeyond.com/spells/2618832-befuddlement). It just redirects me to the marketplace even though I already bought the 2024 PHB weeks ago (I also have the Master tier sub). Other spells work though, like Mordenkainen's Faithful Hound (assuming it's an issue with PHB-exclusive vs Free Rules spell).
Is the physical shipping timeline still on track to deliver prior to release date?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/general-discussion/200676-europe-customer-question#c13
The release dates for the books are as follows:
2024 Player's Handbook – 17 September 2024
2024 Dungeon Master's Guide – 12 November 2024
2024 Monster Manual – 18 February 2025Physical Orders: Each book will be shipped before the date above to ensure the best chance of receiving it on or by the release date.
Hey I just bought the 2024 rulebook but I can't see it on DDB even though I have the Master plan
I did buy it on Wizards though cuz of europe but I must be able to access it right?
I believe you should have been emailed a code to enter into D&D Beyond to unlock the Player's Handbook
Ah ye, glossed over it cuz it was at the end of the invoice
Thanks!
Although the image on Wizards seems to be outdated
Hello!
Is there any way for me to manually add Languages to my character? I'm looking at the character sheet and I don't see any option for it.
for some reason, alot of the spells are not in the 2024 phb digital
on mobile, and i have to re-download the 2024 free rules
not a technical problem, but something i observed and thought was weird and inconvenient
Oh yeah I had that same problem
It looks I have to recreate a Dungeons of Drakkenheim subclass that wasn't published to Beyond in the homebrew section again since the previous one won't show up for character sheets that use the 2024 rules. I added the homebrew subclass that someone else made in the past, but I have to recreate it myself this time and I've been running into issues.
I set all the parameters under Basic Information for the homebrew Monk subclass to be a half caster with access to Wizard spells, but the only spells that show up are Cantrips that I can't learn. I also added “Granted” feature named “Spellcasting” to the subclass at 3rd level and saved the feature.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
For reference, I followed this guide

Awesome thank you!
Yes, you can.
Hey, with Legacy options toggled OFF I'm still not seeing any healing potions on my 2024 character sheets. Did someone come up with a solution to this is or is it still in the buglist?
Okay I am a little confused, first picture, I am searching for a Homebrew subclass with the Name "Avatar", with no base classes selected, no other modifiers to the search... As you can see, 4th result down there is one with the base class "Sorcerer", made by our very own Davyd no less.
Next picture I include the Base class "Sorcerer" in the search, no other modifiers added... Now I get no results.
There's two versions of Sorcerer: the original one from 2014 and the new one from 2024.
When you're selecting the Base Class, the ones under "Core Rules" are the 2024 version.
Geez, you are right...
You'd need to scroll down to "Legacy" to find the 2014 version.
And that should pull up the specific subclass in your example there.
I'm not able to reproduce this. Can you share a screenshot or a link to your character?
I own both 2014 and 2024 PHB's and have an active master subscription.
If I turn Legacy back ON then I see healing potions from 2024 but the standard one is Legacy only:
Not a deal breaker as I can remember 2d4+2 after all these years, just a touch confusing. Entitlements all in sync, forced refresh performed but still they don't show up properly.
I'm sure it'll work itself out over the next week or so though.
Even with everything turned off, for me:
Can you check to make sure your account entitlements are in sync? 👇
?tag ddb entitlements
Account Entitlements
Account entitlements are how D&D Beyond identifies which content you can access. These are synced automatically in time, but if you're not seeing content you should have access to, visit Account > Licenses.
The Account Entitlements section at the top should ideally say "Your entitlements data is in sync!" If not, it will show a button to manually trigger the sync, after which your content should be available.
Link to the sheet to see if I've done something stupid (most likely):
https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/131871645
I was just able to replacted the issues Psymonkee is having. On a character made before the 2024 rules came out and on one after
Wat. I'll be over here banging my head off the wall of software issues 😅 (Been fighting Foundry all last week and it finally submitted to my will!)
I'll pass it along for review, then. Thank you both!
@uneven lantern I looked at the latest posts in that old guide that I linked and it looks like they removed spellcasting for homebrewed Monk and Barbarian subclasses? Is this accurate?
I have no idea what changes have been made to homebrew, if any.
what time will the 2024 phb be releasing for hero tiers who pre ordered the digital version tomorrow
I haven't seen anything official, but my guess would be sometime between <t:1725976800:t> and <t:1725984000:t>.
Is there an option for a hand to hand weapon?
as a master, is there a way to give a PC a spell that his not part of his list?
i think that’s more for #dnd-rules
Not sure what you're trying to ask here. Is this related to D&D Beyond?
Yeah
What do you mean by "a hand to hand weapon"?
Can you give a specific example?
And an option to do what with that weapon?
Oh ok
You can find the list of weapons here:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/dnd/free-rules/equipment#Weapons
If you have questions about what equipment is available in the game, #character-discussion can help.
I just wanna like brass knuckles or the Balrog weapons like in dmcv
This channel is specifically for getting help with the website D&D Beyond.
Oh mb
Again, the folks in #character-discussion can help you put together whatever kind of character you want.
You'd need to use the homebrew system for that.
One way is to make a homebrew copy of the spell you are wanting to give them and add their class to to list of available classes.
Content filter to the players handbook 2024 should include the “dnd 2024 free rules” content and not exclude it thanks. (If owned)
This example shows all the missing wizard spells.
A simple data analyst check fix would be “if you own phb 24 and have filtered content to phb 24, then combine and include free rules in search results”
Also an issue with mobile app. Humans when creating a character is not a part of phb24 but a part of free rules.
That's a viable option if your goal is simply to add it to their class's spell list.
Can someone help with me not being able to log into dndbeyond on opera gx (specifically with my gmail)
What happens when you try to log in?
As was mentioned, take a copy of the spell and add the class the player is to the tags. Turn on the player's homebrew allowed setting, then it should be visible in their list. So if a wizard, just make them learn it. If another class, they will see it as long as prepared. Don't forget to turn off homebrew after adding the spell.
Alternate way is to make a token that you attach the spell to, then have the player equip it. Can give it charges if you want it to be a limited-use spell.
Several different ways to accomplish this.
Is this the correct channel for homebrew-related support questions? Please let me know if I should be posting about it in another channel.
My group and several of the players that I've talked to at DDAL are not happy with this potential bug since we use homebrew to add in third party content for our non-AL games. It's especially frustrating since Drakkenheim is third party content that DnD Beyond has published to their own site/app.
It's the correct channel, but this is really a community-led support channel. We're all just trying to figure out these new changes together.
Those third-party options should be coming to the new classes in time, though.
Just as a note - you’ll note that many subclasses that have been published by our various Partners do not appear for the 2024 classes. We’re working with them to update their content for the new rules, but do not have an ETA for those releases.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/bugs-support/204813-players-handbook-issues-and-support-thread
I'll take a look at that thread and share it. Thanks!
There used to be a way to adjust the number of attunement slots on a character sheet in DnDB, but I can't seem to find it now. Was that removed or am I just not finding it?
thanks!
Should still be there for Artificer to work. Try a Modifier with:
- Type: Set
- Subtype: Attunement Slots
- Fixed Value: 4 (or whatever the total number should be)
A Modifier under what?
One of the fields in homebrew is Modifier. It only shows up after you have saved you things the first time
Yeah, this won't be possible without using the homebrew system.
Character is set to use homebrew.
I'm not seeing where to adjust the modifier, though. Is that under items in the character sheet, or a specific feat or feature?
You would need to make a homebrew item or feat that adds that modifier
And then assign that homebrew item/feat/whatever to the character.
Okay. That worked.
Which is weird because I didn't have to go through that with a different character previously
But that got done what I needed to get done, so thanks 🙂
How do I turn off the new spells? I don't own or want to use the 2024 stuff. I don't really care if the old versions of spells say (Legacy), but I want to continue using those spells as I have been for the past 5 years without the new versions clogging my spell lists.
Sorry if this has been asked before but does anyone know if theres an easy way to have the homebrew subclasses work with the 2024 classes besides completely remaking them?
How i can enter in calls in this server ?
There are no voice chat channels in this server.
#moderator-support can help if you have any further questions about the server, though. (This channel is for getting help with D&D Beyond.)
There is presently no means to remove the current versions of spells, only the legacy versions.
They haven't shared any future plans for homebrew. Since the new classes are effectively separate classes, the only current option would be to recreate it for the new class.
Is this a known bug then? I'm not sure why I would want to remove the legacy versions that I have paid for and have been using. If anything, I would much rather remove the new versions that I do not own.
It's currently working as expected, so no, it's not a bug. We can pass along that feedback as a feature request, though.
That would be apreciated. This effectively doubles the length of my spell lists which is a lot for higher level characters. I really cannot fathom why this would be the intended functionality. If there is a toggle for turning off the legacy features, it seems obvious that you would make a toggle for turning the newer features, especially for people who haven't paid for the newer features.
Hey, how do I add a weapon mastery to a homebrew subclass?
You could try making a homebrew copy of the Weapon Master feat and see if that has the answer.
I have Partnered Content and Humblewood turned on, but the Humblewood subclasses aren't showing in the class tab. I just built another character the other day and they were there. Has something changed?
Hello. So my subscription has "ended" and I assume that is because I have recently gotten a new debit card. However I don't know how to fix this issue.
They’re not yet available on the 2024 classes, if that’s where you’re looking.
Just as a note - you’ll note that many subclasses that have been published by our various Partners do not appear for the 2024 classes. We’re working with them to update their content for the new rules, but do not have an ETA for those releases.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/bugs-support/204813-players-handbook-issues-and-support-thread
I think you can change that here:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/licenses
In Account Entitlements?
No, in the Subscriptions section below it.
It's just telling me to get a new subscription.
I cannot seem to find the homebrew fighter class I made in the character builder
I have homebrew toggled
but I still cant find it
I published the subclass last week, so it should be avalible.
am I missing something?
Which fighter did you make it for? 2014 or 2024?
Is this normal? Am I supposed to renew my subscription because of my new debit card?
If your subscription has already ended, then starting a new subscription seems like a viable solution to me.
2014
does it need to be core or legacy?
Legacy is the 2014 version.
If you want it on the new one, you’d need to homebrew it for that class specifically.
wsait have they changed some rules?
also, I went to the page where its published and i cant seem to find where it specifies which version of fighter it is
Hey so, players of mine were making their warlock class today. Apparently it’s soft locked at 5th level and also the pact/spell slots are messed up.
This a bit confusing. Why did I get an email informing me that the reason my subscription deactivated might be because of a change in my payment information then?
Warlocks only get Pact slots up to 5th level
and they dont get lower level spell slots
not seeing a problem there
Yeah, but all of those are 1-4 level spells
At 5th level only
Can you only cast them at max level?
Yes, warlocks automatically cast their spells at whatever pact slot level they have.
anyone else not getting the proficiencies from their custom backgrounds?
can anyone tell me why I can't pick any spells for the spell mastery feature?
Cleric won't deselect.
Also you should probably add a tag to differentiate older and newer classes for menus like this
When does the PHB unlock for hero tiers time wise?
likely 10-12 est, but there is no official time
Got it!
There’s a caching issue that sometimes makes them slow to appear, but they’ll turn up in time.
This a known issue, assuming that’s a 2014 wizard.
yeah it is
This is a known issue.
I cannot add the new war caster feat to any of my PCs, neither my eldritch night nor my Warlock, both of which are above level 4. Are they working on solving this soon?
Can the Homebrew tool be used to make a Species that is automatically granted a specific Origin feat?
The player guide 2024 book isn't even showing on the app
I can't download at all
Or see it not At all
Spells that are in your spellbook, maybe the answer. Have you done your spellbook ?
I don't really think that is possible
Only the new core books will have that
Try a Modifier with Type: Feat.
Have you preordered the book? Do you have a Master Tier subscription?
So I have access to the 2024 guide in D&D Beyond but I received an email saying payment failed for the physical and it was cancelled. Anyone else run into this?
I have contacted support.
Yes got same thing this morning. Totally confused! Paid in June via PayPal charged me about half then.
I assume that it's a bug on their end and when they wake up and get in to work someone will address.
Same issue for me. Paid in full in June via PayPal. Gives me relief to see I'm not an isolated issue.
I did pre orderd them and I have teg hero tier
I did pre orderd the digital set
For hero tier it should come the 10th
I’d expect Hero Tier access to start in the next few hours.
But I haven’t heard an official start time.
In other news, I’ve reached out behind the scenes to see if we can get more info on the payment issues.
I already have access at the free tier (whatever it's called).
No, not the free trial.
Yeah, every user should have access to the preview version of the Free Rules.
If you're able to access the full PHB and aren't a subscriber, it's likely being shared with you through one of your campaigns.
Hey guys, I'm a DM and currently running Dragon of Icespire Peak (Essentials Kit), and one of my players suggested we recorded our sessions and uploaded them to youtube. I was wondering, are there any legal requirements to do so since it's an official campaign? I hope this is the appropriate place to ask.😅
Can't really help with any legal stuff here (this channel is specifically for getting help with D&D Beyond), but you could try checking the Fan Content Policy:
https://company.wizards.com/en/legal/fancontentpolicy
Ohh, I see, and thank you a lot! That's a great start
Ah, I forgot about that.
Is there something I can do to get access to Tasha's in the character builder? I'm trying to make an Artificer but that's not a class option.
I think 2024 and artificers are broken. Should work if building straight from legacy.
oh ok, Thank You
You need to make sure you have the expanded rules enabled
yeah
You just need to own the book and have Expanded Rules enabled for that character. The comment about them not working with 2024 content is incorrect (though there is currently a bug preventing them from using 2024 spells).
If the book is shared with you, you can also use it for characters assigned to the campaign that's sharing it.
If I preorder the digital / physical bundle for the 2024 core books, do I still get early access to the PHB since it has already started? I see it says you do if you buy the PHB only, but don't see that guarantee on the 3 book bundle and just trying to make sure before I grab it.
yeah phb early access applies to any purchase that includes the digital version of the phb
the way the bundle works is by adding all 6 items to your cart individually, then applying the discount, so it's actually not an issue
Is there a reason I am not seeing Path of the Juggernaut as a subclass choice for the 2024 Barbarian?
I have Critical Role content enabled, as well as legacy content
Hey guys I’m new to dming and trying to use dndbeyond im trying to access the 2024 rule book because I do have access to it on the website but not in app
Thank you!
Just as a note - you’ll note that many subclasses that have been published by our various Partners do not appear for the 2024 classes. We’re working with them to update their content for the new rules, but do not have an ETA for those releases.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/bugs-support/204813-players-handbook-issues-and-support-thread
as always, you are a godsend
Is there any talk of having a legacy sourcebook bundle
I doubt it
doubtful
What happens when you try to access it in the app?
Anyone else get an email saying their order was cancelled at random even though I got confirmation and everything???
It doesn’t show it’s even available
I bought the bundle and now the PHB hardcover got cancelled for whatever reason
A few people, yeah. I'm trying to get more info behind the scenes.
Are you on the latest version of the app?
I don't want to have to pay full price for it
Any talk of being able to “scan” your physical books and being able to use them online?
Probably not without a way to uniquely identify each book, which wouldn't work for any books already sold.
Dang I have already over $3k in books
Any updates regarding that situation?
same thing happened to me with phb hardcover getting cancelled and now the order lists the bundle as costing less but I haven't actually got a refund or anything for it
This is so weird
also not sure if one of the items being cancelled means I'll lose out on the gold dragon pre-order bundle bonus thingy
not only that, but you'd have to verify the book itself was actually sold, so people don't scan them while in the store and just have free digital content
yeah I have no idea why it randomly cancelled, glad it seems to be a dndbeyond issue and not just me
ended up buying the PHB physical version again because I'm dumb and now it costs me the full 60 instead of 40
Yeah exactly !! I don't want to do that because its unfair
I didn't cancel it so they have to fix this
hope this issue gets resolved at some point, not sure what the deal is though
I emailed DnD Beyond hoping to see a response
Have you not already received those bonuses?
I presume I would've received the bonuses, but since project sigil isn't actually out I can't know for sure about the gold dragon thing
Everything but the Dragon
regardless I shouldn't have to pay for the hardcover full price when I pre-ordered the bundle to save on it
For those bonuses, you should have received a redemption code by email within the last week. If you've got that code, you should be good.
I did, just didn't notice it among the other d&dbeyond emails until now, thanks!
guess I'll at least get my bundle bonuses, unfortunate that unless things get fixed I have to shell out 20 extra bucks despite paying for the bundle because of this weird phb hardcover issue
I'm trying to get more info from the team on how to fix the cancellations.
For the Maps tool currently in Alpha, is it possible to upload our own created maps for use? And if not, is that something that is in the works for future versions? Thanks in advance!
thanks, hope things get fixed soon
You can upload your own maps. In the map browser at the top should be an option to upload your own
For anyone interested, a summary of the PHB bug fixes thus far:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/bugs-support/204813-players-handbook-issues-and-support-thread?page=41#c857
Welcome to the Support Thread for Player’s Handbook!
If you find any issues with the content from the sourcebook, or using it on a D&D Beyond character,...
If there's anything that's not on that list and hasn't been identified as a known issue, please let us know!
perfect timing for this post lol
kinda annoying that agonizing and repelling blasts haven't been fixed yet but hey it will probably happen soon
I think the fixes so far are all ones that wouldn’t need actual code changes, and that’s probably not the case with Agonizing Blast.
Any updates on the orders end?
No official communications yet, but they're looking into it.
I assume it's being worked on, but just in case
certain feats, such as Initiate of High Sorcery don't seem to work anymore (at least on a 2024 sorcerer)
In what way don't they work?
It should be one cantrip and two 1st-level spells.
Do you have Legacy enabled for that character?
u right I just misremembered.
no, will check if that fixes it
ah it does
thanks!
If the feat itself isn't legacy, I'd personally expect it to include the non-legacy versions of those spells, though.
Especially when the cantrip choice lets you pick either version.
So I'll pass that along for review anyway.
Yeah I think that's why I didn't think it was an issue with enabling Legacy
Seems like the cantrip likely just points to a spell list, so when the list gets updated, so do the cantrip options.
Whereas the 1st-level spells are probably explicit choices and would need to be manually updated.
is there any way to rearrange the campaigns on the 'my campaigns' page?
this is accurate
and this is also accurate
I don't believe so.
Is there going to be early access for the DMG and MM like there is currently for the PHB
do we know
ok wonderful
2 weeks early for my group and I then
AFAIK, that's the plan for every book going forward.
Potentially dumb question:
If I as a player join my DM's campaign and enable content sharing, will my DM be able to use the maps (and other content) in my content library in Maps?
Not in Maps specifically, no.
Hi. Got a Master subscription and did and paid the pre-order for the physical and digital bundle back in June, got the cancellation email this morning and submitted a ticket for it. From what I just read they should have sent a redemption code for the additional digital goods in that bundle? Can you clarify?
You should have received the code by email last week.
If not, you'll need to contact Customer Support.
We're still waiting for word on what to do about the cancelled books themselves.
the digital goods being the dice and all that, but the Dragons of D&D digital art book, is that also included or does that come with the gold dragon mini once Project Sigil is released with the closed beta?
I believe everything you need is included in the same email.
Ok. I'll add to my current ticket. Thanks.
The art book should be right below the code for the dice
didn't receive that email at all
Have you check you spam folder for an email from orders@dndbeyond.com?
yup
I would like to also like to say that mine were in the updates folder of my email and not in my main inbox. If you haven't looked there yet
i checked on the updates and promotions folders. nada. i keep track of my orders pretty closely. i added this concern to my initial ticket. we'll see.
Idk if this questions already been asked or if others are having this issue, but im trying to pre-order the new phb but when i input all my information and click "Next: order review" i keep getting a message that says "Some input fields are invalid" and it doesnt tell me what is incorrect and it doesnt let me continue
I'm not sure. I haven't heard of anyone else having that issue, though.
Do you get the same issue in another browser or on another device?
i only really use the chrome browser version but i can download the app and try, i honestly didnt think of that. ive never had this issue when purchasing other content
I get the same issue on Microsoft Edge and i dont see the book on the mobile app
Ok i seem to have bypassed the issue, im pretty skeptical when it comes to enterring any payment information online so i rarely save my card information to websites, i always just input the information every time i make a purchase. so if anyone has the same issue as me, i was able to bypass the issue by going into my account and saving my payment method so when i go to the marketplace it would have the information preloaded, and this fixed the problem.
It’s a known issue. We don’t have any information beyond that.
There’s a list here of recent fixes: #ddb-support message
I know its a known issue already, but its a bummer that my PHB hardcover pre-order was cancelled. There was something about a code I was supposed to get?
Please reach out to customer service - they should be able to figure out what's happened and how to address the issue.
When purchasing through DDB, is it standard for one price to appear in the order history, and another amount to show up in my bank account? (charge still processing)
It's likely at checkout that taxes are applied (or any currency conversion) and that's what's happening.
I bought the DDB physical/digital bundle back in June. The physical PHB appears to be preparing to ship.
You could reach out to Customer Service to confirm and get clarification.
I already have.
Both of you
Anyway, I'll go pester CS, and see if I can get to the bottom of things. Thanks.
You mean submit a ticket, right?
Or email?
I wish I had a real magic wand to make all these issues disappear for you all!
You create a custiomer service ticket
If you have an issue with D&D Beyond purchases or subscriptions, you may need to contact customer support. To do so, please go to http://dndbeyond.link/SubmitTicket and submit a ticket.
Important
- You will need to make an account for the support ticket system. This is not your D&D Beyond account.
- Tickets are responded to in the order they are received and response times depend on how busy the support team is.
- Tickets are grouped by user based on the most recent ticket. Do not submit multiple tickets for the same issue. This will push you down the queue
- The customer support team is active Monday-Friday and work US hours. This means you may not get a response based on your local timezone or weekends.

Yes, okay. Just making sure I submitted the right thing to the right location.
I have Partnered Content and Humblewood turned on, but the Humblewood subclasses aren't showing in the class tab. I just built another character the other day and they were there.
Make sure to toggle on the legacy toggle - most third-party options are not yet updated to work with the 2024 players handbook updates.
The legacy toggle is on also. Does that mean I won't be able to use Humblewood materials?
Hmmm. I haven't used the Humblewood options yet so I'm unsure what's happening here. I do know that 3rd party content is not fully working with the recent DnDBeyond updates.
I have the same issues with things from the Tal'Dorei book, because none of it was updated by the time the PHB released on ddb.
we just kinda have to wait and see if/when they update their material to work with the new versions of the classes
They’re not available yet for the new classes.
Just as a note - you’ll note that many subclasses that have been published by our various Partners do not appear for the 2024 classes. We’re working with them to update their content for the new rules, but do not have an ETA for those releases.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/bugs-support/204813-players-handbook-issues-and-support-thread
Thanks
if I homebrewed a subclass for 2014 warlock a while ago, and want to use it with 2024 warlock, do I have to re-homebrew the entire subclass again, or is there a thing I can click in the homebrew menu that will allow it to work with 2024 warlock
I have not published the subclass
from my experience, you gotta remake it unfortunately
Buddy of mine sent this
Diviner Wizard's The Third Eye isn't displaying properly in the character builder
go figure, no added homebrew support
should have guessed tbh
time to go throw my voice into the wind in #ddb-feedback I suppose
||At this point, if WotC made a statement saying they hate the homebrew community, I wouldn't even be shocked||
If you're the dm of a campaign and someone enables content sharing, do you need a char in the campaign to benefit or is just being the dm enough?
buddy sent this as well, seems to be the same on the character sheet
the benefits aren't showing
Sent that to #ddb-feedback
They do listen and work on the issues. It just takes time.
For homebrew it really doesn't feel like it at all (but this is semi-off topic now and I think we should just let it rest)
What about all those requests people have been putting in the forums for years?
As far as I know they are still on the list for the dev team to prioritize and work on. But I am not the dev team and I have no insight on their priorities, workload, and timelines. Or if something has even made it off the list to something actively being worked on.
At some point in the future, will we be able to choose legacy subclasses for use with the 2024 classes? I just want to confirm (and I did search, I couldn't find that answer)
Some classes do have access to some of the legacy subclasses (like the 2024 wizard for example), but not sure how many
Passed that along for review.
ah, I see. I'm still waiting for Arcane Archer
That one’s a known issue.
Yeah. I'm trying very hard to be patient. I promise. 🫶
Is PayPal an issue for preorders for anyone else? Waiting on support, but not sure if I should avoid PayPal in the future for purchases
I preordered only the Digital copies of the 2024 rulebooks with PayPal and had no issue at all
I'm unsure if it's an issue for physical copies for whatever reason
or why it would be at all
I’m in the same situation as some earlier posters, where my PHB was cancelled today
It claims the billing option is the issue, but I’ve already been charged for some of the bundle, so I’m reluctant to put another billing option in
I wouldn't do anything but file a ticket for now
That’s what I did. Just wanted to see if anyone else had any PayPal concerns. Thanks!
Looks like they are having issues with physical and bundle pre-orders done with PayPal as well as not receiving an email last week regarding the digital add-ons and yes, a ticket was filed this morning.
Oh yeah, I don’t show an email for digital stuff, but the 50th anniversary dice is in my account. Just seems like big launch bugs, so hopefully we can get it sorted soon
Yeah. bugs are bound to happen when large releases like this happen, and we're also in early access, so they still have time to fix things up prior to the full release for those without subscriptions
Looks like it’s a common issue with PayPal. There’s a 4 page thread of people who got cancelled order announcements today. I hope I don’t lose the bundle pricing…
I was obne of these people. I have sent 4 emails trying to get it fixed over the last week. HOw can we get it fixed/
I think they answer tickets in the order received, I just hope this doesn’t delay my shipment.
Did you find out anything that you can share?
It is being investigated. If you are impacted, please reach out to Customer Service.
Thanks Noob. Hopefully there's a announcement soon, so we're not all in limbo
I'm not sure if it's reached formal announcement level but it's definitely impacting folks and they're looking into possible causes and how to resolve them. Which is why I strongly recommend contacting Customer Service because that will provide more data about who's impacted and may point at specific root cause issues.
The more sent from more people, the better the data, basically.
I don't know what the SLA rules are for support tickets - is there a maximum amount of time before responses? 48 hours for instance
It's answered in the order they are received (and they are grouped by user so posting a new ticket would actually bump you further down the queue) but no specific time. We're not Customer Service and don't have a lot of insight into what their processes look like so I can't provide an SLA.
If I had to hazard a guess I'd suspect it to be around 3 business days-ish.
Thank you. Just wanted to know if you had any insight
I submitted a CS case earlier but I couldn't remember my payment method, it was Paypal.
I did add my order number.
from what I can gather just based on people here, it seems to be an issue with Paypal since those are the only specific payment methods I have seen people talk about in regards to PHB phhyhsical copy cancelling
maybe not an issue with paypal itself but like
ykwim
Yeah I paid with Paypal too... so not sure what happened.
Is there any way for me to buy/preorder the new phb in the ddb apps? I'm a hero tier but the book doesn't show in the app, and clicking new phb spells only shows a blank page.
I can only use payment via google play which the main website doesn't offer. Kinda bummed.
When looking at your character sheet inventory I don't understand what the check boxes represent. That it's on my body or that I am wielding it?
If the square is checked what does that mean?
If a weapon, you're wielding it. If it's armor, you're wearing it.
No. Has to be done through the website marketplace
Oh well, I'll be waiting for the 17th like the others I guess. I can't use credit card
Your local game store might have a physical copy you can buy if you wish.
Any chance Artificers get 5.5 spells anytime soon?
No ETA yet.
Is there a fix for this coming soon? It's a bit silly, and make the page annoying to scroll.
In my Sorcerer spell list, someone suggested it might be because Divine Soul gives me Cleric versions of the spell...
Any news regarding all those "cancelled purchases"?
It's being looked into. Please make sure to create a Customer Service ticket for it so they can help resolve it. This also gives them more information about how widely it's impacted folks and can help point the devs to root causes so they can resolve the issue.
I did
Thank you
I just don't want to miss out on the book and the price at which I bought them
Fixed!
What is going on with our already paid paypal orders being cancelled? (Also not refunded)
Cancelled but still took $95 and $24, but digital codes already redeemed. Seems confusing .
I will open a ticket thanks
i was awoken by a notification.
someone else made a purchase using my credit card about half an hour ago.
it is being charged by WOTC.
i suspect the one who did it is on the east coast, because the time is about 3 hours in the future
yes, i checked the ticket form for customer support. it does not account for this sort of thing
I checked my ddb account, there are no traces of this transaction there.
Did you preorder the physical + digital bundle? The physical orders are now being processed. But do reach out to customer service to double check.
Bummer physical orders were cancelled no wonder i never got my book
i did pre-order...
but then why am i being charged a second time
It charges a portion of the amount at time of purchase, and the remaining portion when they're preparing the physical copy for shipment.
The second charge is effectively an indication that your book is about to ship.
Ya i think the digital got paid via paypal and the physical never charged for me
But side note if you bought usps stamps for dnd i got charged 7x 😂
If at the time of shipment they're unable to collect the remaining payment, it seems like the physical book order is then cancelled.
The team is currently discussing ways for cancelled orders to still get the original deal. Hoping to have full details soon.
Ya i just will support my local shop. I got the dndb digitals successfully so all good
Thanks for the feedback!
I verified “nothing extra was charged, physical was cancelled and never charged”
Thats good enough for me but explains why i never got the book but thought i ordered it
okay, okay, okay
i looked at my transaction history again on my credit card
added two numbers together...
and it totalled to the amount of my order
there was no issue
i was just a big confused grumpy boi from being awoken by an alert about my credit card
I got charged an arbitrary amount, which is why I'm stuck waiting on support - as they charged me more than the digital items, but not enough for all the physical products
Hmmm. WOTC charged the full amount of the order back in June to my PayPal account. They shouldn’t charge again when the physical copies ship. I did open up a ticket yesterday morning and no response.
Tickets are answered in the order they're received, so the exact wait time will depend on how many tickets are in line ahead of yours.
But you will get a response when your turn comes, and they'll get you taken care of.
just a process question if you know off hand, but once a ticket is picked up, is that agent working with you until closed? Im sure they're buried as this seems to be a common issue, so I went back and updated my existing ticket with more order detail to try to make it easier on them.
That would be my guess, but I don't actually know.
the amount of the previous transaction went down from what i remember it being
i got out of bed and made a phone call to discover because i really thought i had somehow fallen victim to credit card fraud
big false alarm
and now i have to try falling asleep all over again...
off to a great start today
No response needed. I think this bug where wizard cantrip spells are missing for elfs is due to free 2024 being higher relevance than phb 2024.
https://www.reddit.com/r/onednd/s/HhZ5pbomSd
Combine the two filters if you own the book. Just like how human species isnt in phb24 in character creation but under free 2024
As a data analyst my suggestion is to get rid of “free rules 2024” and move that to a different dimension. If you own the book display everything. If you do not, then you get the subfiltered free 2024 subset.
Any spells you have access to are presented equally within the character sheet.
Do we know if there's gonna be another maintenance period before the release of the phb to the public fixing some of the issues with its release?
But since Blade Ward exists only in the PHB (and not the Free Rules), my first guess would be that this specific user didn't have access to the PHB itself.
No one else in the thread seemed to be able to reproduce the issue (which would make sense for anyone that could access the full PHB).
Ahh ok i bet its gotten better too since i last tested a new char 8 days ago
Thanks as always.
No upcoming maintenance periods have been announced.
Confirmed its a phb 24 not free 24 spell
The team has fixed (and is continuing to fix) issues as they arise.
This post details the fixes that have been applied so far:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/bugs-support/204813-players-handbook-issues-and-support-thread?page=41#c857
Welcome to the Support Thread for Player’s Handbook!
If you find any issues with the content from the sourcebook, or using it on a D&D Beyond character,...
Is there any way to modify D&DBeyond to utilize homebrew rules, like characters going above 20th level?
Or adding more attunement slots
Etc
You can't increase their actual level beyond 20, but you could use homebrew to effectively simulate gaining additional levels.
And you can add up to 6 total attunement slots.
Who do you contact to find out when an order you placed will ship ? I opened a ticket but no one is responding
You'd need to contact customer service for any details specific to your order.
Tickets are answered in the order they're received, so the exact wait time depends on how many tickets were submitted ahead of yours.
That said, they've started shipping the physical books this week.
If you've received a credit card charge this week for the remaining payment due, then your order has already been processed for shipment.
Ya its awesome. Thanks as always!!
With the new 2024 rules, is there a way to make homebrew feats repeatable like the new Skilled feat?
I never got an answer. Can someone please explain this?
If you want information specific to your account, you’ll have to contact customer support.
But again, signing up for a new subscription will reinstate everything you had prior.
I'm just afraid of ending up paying more than I need to.
anything new since yesterday?
I'm really excited for agonizing and repelling blasts to get fixed
Also theres that other warlock invokation that gives an origin feat which can't select anything rn and it would be nice to use
This person on reddit has phb24 book but bladeward isnt an option for elf. Seems like a bug.
Thanks 🙂
Edit; Worked for me although confusing elf is dnd free and bladeward is not maybe they need to clear cache or update app
I suggested they update mobile app, clear browser cache and if iphone also clear safari cache 🙂
Yeah, it doesn’t seem like anyone else has been able to reproduce the issue.
You won’t. Your old subscription has ended. A new subscription is the same price.
The team’s still at work, but I don’t have a comprehensive list to share.
That’s a known issue.
Does anyone know why variants aren't working with homebrew species?
Ok so i have access to Tasha’s on my phone but my iPad doesn’t show that i own it
Is there NE1 around for BBD support?
That I can contact in DM with a fairly serious issue?
One idea maybe clear safari + main browser cache then make sure app up to date on device
(All ios browsers use safari as backend)
Just submitted a ticket but in case anyone else stumbles up on it, the link to the Two-Weapon Fighting on the character sheet (Under Actions -> Actions in Combat) is only showing the 2024 definition. The 2014 definition is a little hard to find now and includes some significant changes (specifically only for light melee weapons)
In what way are they not working?
Are you signed in to the same account on both? Your characters and such are still there?
What’s the nature of this issue?
So I am trying to recreate subclasses because I'm cheap. In my attempts, it was going okay, good enough for my purposes(I do home games and things so I don't publish my homebrew, I don't have reason to) . However! The Subclasses I've made haven't shown up for the 2024 or the 2014 classes so I can use it. I have all of the Sources on for the Character sheet to access, so Critical Role and Expanded rules, etc is turned on. Is it a glitch? Is something weird with Homebrew right now with the integration of the 2024 stuff?
I have also made sure that my subclasses are all leveled correctly so I have eliminated that being the issue. I've restarted my devices and refreshed it all as well as saving it multiple times. It hasn't changed.
I assume you have the "homebrew content" box ticked on yes?
How do you get a to talk with live person for dnd beyond? can someone message me a phone number?
I had an issue with a canceled product purchase on my account that wasnt me
This is an issue that has popped up with some of the physical + digital bundles. Please contact customer support so they can investigate it.
?tag ddb support
D&D Beyond customer support can be contacted at the link below. Requests are answered in the order they're received. Submitting multiple requests for the same issue can result in a delayed response.
http://dndbeyond.link/SubmitTicket
Are you saying you didn't make the purchase, or you didn't cancel it?
OK that makes since
The link above is the only means for contacting customer support.
I got a canceled purchase order in my email
For purchase of the PHB but I dfidnt try to buy it
And then a canceled order email
Yeah as noted, it's an issue that has cropped up with some of the bundle purchases - again please contact customer support so they can dig into it.
Roger that
They're in the process of shipping out physical orders for the PHB. If you previously purchased the physical+digital bundle, part of the payment was collected at time of purchase, and they're now attempting to collect the remainder before shipment is made.
Thank you I did that an no response so far. Trying to find out and ETA on when the new books will ship
Thanks folks....appreciate it
In the event that payment can't be collected, the order will be cancelled.
They're sending out all the shipments this week.
If this was for me..I didnt DO either...I had not tried to purchase the PHB....it was a single purchase..but I have bought the bundle
So it LOOKED like someone was trying to use my account to purchase
But as Undying said...everything is really new and there is probabaly a glitch
If you purchased the bundle and received a cancellation email, that would indicate the physical PHB from your bundle order has been cancelled.
Thank you for the information. Fingers crossed as I was tempted to buy one from my local guild hall yesterday just want mine in my hands asap
Yea just looked they canceled my PHB won't be buying anything physical from them again that is for sure.
Again, that would indicate they were unable to collect the remaining payment.
My bundle purchase wasn't canceled. I purchased the bundle in July. This was 2 emails I received TODAY that someone tried to purchase the single book...and it couldn't clear the purchase and canceled it. And it wasn't me that did that.
OMG you're talking to Smok...MY BAD Sorry!
No, I’m talking to you, too.
OH crap well then
Well yeah because it said it couldnt clear the payment...trust me that's not a problem
They took the paymment as a whole for me so not sure what happened purchased in early august and opened a ticket the day the book was released. Oh well money still in my pocket and I'll grab one from the local book shop.
- You purchased the bundle in July.
- You were charged a portion of the cost at the time of purchase.
- The remaining cost is charged when the physical books are ready to ship.
- If that remaining cost cannot be collected, that physical book will be cancelled from the order.
Since the physical PHB’s are shipping this week, presumably they were unable to collect the remaining payment for your order.
If you have any questions about your specific order, I’d recommend contacting customer support.
Thank you!
curious they take money from the same place every month so I don't think so.
Yep I see the cancelation email no response to the support ticket I opened on the 3rd and I did get my digital copy so Oh well. My son is picking one up for me at the book store today so either way I got it. just cost two bucks more
Is Custom Lineage going to be allowed when using 2024 species ?
It seems a bit unbalanced in that previously it got lower status in lieu of awarding a full feat, but not that species/races to not award stats it keeps the full feet without the balance of lower stats.
You can already create a character using custom lineage with other 2024 character options.
Right, so using this we can get an 18 starting stat if we take a 2014 feat that bumps stats like skill expert. telekenetic, elven accuracy etc
(as it stacks with the new ability points from background)
It does let us pick 2024 feats at L1, but then the feats states a pre-requisite of L4, so it doesnt feel like we should be able to pick a 2024 feat using a 2014 race.
If you want to know how it works within the rules, you’re welcome to ask in #dnd-rules.
If you want to know how it will work in your game, you’ll have to ask your DM.
I guess the potential bug in DDB is the custom lineage lets us pick feats which are marked as L4+ even though we are only L1.
here's my problem with this. the amount of the pre-order of the digital and physical bundle was the total amount plus discounts they offered. there was no need to make a second charge when the book was ready to ship, and if there was, we as customers were not notified and my PayPal account has more than enough to cover the funds. they were able to process my master tier subscription without a hitch with the same payment method. also no email sent with codes for the additional digital assets that was supposedly sent last week. i did get the digital player's handbook
this is very suspect. i submitted a ticket with all the relevant screenshots and pdf's. no response yet and no statement regarding this. i'm starting to get very concerned.
It does seem odd that they're just cancelling orders, rather than asking for a new payment method.
I'm unable to assign SCAG spells (such as Booming Blade and Green Flame Blade) from the SCAG source for a 2024 Wizard with Bladesinger subclass. Is this already a known issue?
Which level 4+ feat are you able to select?
I don’t see any such feats for my own character.
They’re both available for my character. Do you have Expanded Rules enabled for your character?
For what its worth, I got this email:
☝️ Some info on the cancelled PHB orders.
@gusty abyss @deep turret @near badge @formal cosmos @shrewd knoll @royal portal @craggy escarp @fringe tinsel
Saw that. Haven't received that email yet and I still have my question regarding this charge. What is the purpose of charging for something you already paid in its entirety? As I understand it, the total amount of this bundle covered both physical and digital assets. It was not stated as a deposit or percentage.
Customer support can help with any questions regarding your specific order.
I just got the email.
Yes, I also just now tried creating one from scratch with expanded rules selected
Thanks a ton!
Do you own SCAG yourself or is it being shared with you?
It is being shared
Shared character options can only be used by characters assigned to the campaign that’s sharing them. Is your character in that campaign?
- I purchased the bundle in June.
- I was charged for the full amount.
- They tried to charge something else again.
- They sent me an email saying it was cancelled after they tried to charge me twice.
Then all they send in response is an email to say, "Don't worry, in 24 hours we'll try to charge you twice again"
Gee, thanks
Exactly this.
Please contact customer support if you have any questions about your specific order.
Right. Did that already and have received nothing but a "we'll try to charge you twice again in 24 hours" message, but I'll digress.
I'm not saying a gaffe isn't understandable.
I am however saying that as someone who has been ordering expensive nerd shit off of the internet for 20 years that this is the most ridiculous fumble I've experienced. :*)
Let me reiterate this for clarity: nowhere in the bundle's page order nor in the confirmation pages of the order, does it say that this is a partial payment and that we would be charged the rest.
this multi-charging was some weirdness. this morning, i was awoken by a notification that my credit card had been charged by WOTC. i was confused, and quite grumpy, thought someone had somehow obtained my credit card info. then an hour later, the original charge from when i preordered (which was previously the full amount of the order) was somehow reduced (????) to an amount that, when added to the new charge, exactly equalled the total of the preorder.
this is some weirdness, and from the looks of it, it's not an uncommon issue.
in my assessment, it is just like some things with the 2024 phb itself.
not a "real" problem necessarily; but weird, confusing, and inconvenient
It'll all get ironed out by the 100th anniversary.
"To add immersion we rolled a d20 for all purchase orders and if you got a nat 1 we charged you twice for the order."
maybe everyone is being charged twice, and only some people are having issues relating to that.
kinda real when they are trying to charge you for something you already paid. what worries is that this is just the phb and if this is the implementation we are experiencing, i don't want to imagine what would happen with the dmg and the monster's manual.
"Oh. No, this isn't D&D Beyond, this is D&D FEYond."
good thing i don't intend to buy the dmg or mm
i will continue to run 2014 dnd
and maybe brew in some things from the 2024 sauce that i think are cool
but i think i am getting off topic here
Understandable but ridiculous that it comes to that.
I run a very time and money expensive live play variety show that has in person local game store book sale pop ups.
It's frustrating trying to support the scene across players, audience, and game stores but be tethered to experiences like this one.
It's silly being frustrated about just getting what I paid for from a company that I'm responsible for thousands of dollars of revenue generated for
Publishers and artists mix like oil and water
the worst part is the constant stream of errors in the last few years and i'd like to give them some grace to the frontline workers cause they take the brunt of it while management keeps doing horrible things, but they. keep. fudging. things. up. so, we wait.
This is what happened to me, only do you see there's a paypal balance? if you check your credit card statement, they only charged you the 73.86, not the full 179 + tax and the issue stems from when they tried to collect the next payment
for me, they rang up the full price of the bundle, but only 67 dollars went against my card
Question: how do I track physical books that I ordered on D&DBeyond?
you should receive an email when your physical book ships, with a tracking number with the shipping company
at least, that's how it happened when i ordered descent into avernus
same here, turns out WOTC rang up the full $70 or so at the time i ordered, but only posted a charge of about $22, later ringing up the difference this morning. i have reason to believe it is exactly this that is the issue people are posting about here
all of this i confirmed over the phone by speaking with the billing department at Discover
they only charged part, if you check your charges.
yes, please review your transaction history on the financial institution's end.
Ya im just going to support local store for physical and kept digital redeemed
fair
-# i succeeded a Wisdom Save against panicking, and then rolled a 22 on an Investigation check.
I am checking and this is as bizarre as it gets.
Yep!
I know! This Issue is really kicking me. That and I can't make Container magic items. The Tag exists for a reason, and it doesn't work. It doesn't pop up as a container nor work like one when I designed it too. I made a Leprechaun Cauldron which burns through your gold to cast spells, assuming you have scroll. Except it doesn't destroy the scroll when casting the spell.
That's the goofy gimmick.
I believe you have to mark containers as such when you create them. Like, there should be a box to select an item-subtype I think
I can retry it. I also tried making a copy of a Bag of holding cause those work how they are supposed to and copy the description of my item onto it and it didn't work as a container. It would not hold items for some reason.
Did anyone who paid the physical and digital bundle with Paypal receive the email described above?
I did. im worried that since my payment method was paypal that it will just fail again.
i guess I can just toss a new billing method in the beyond site, to hopefully have as a back-up
sighs let us know. haven't received that email yet but we'll see. i was thinking of the same. however, i shouldn't have to since they renewed my subscription and that is also PayPal.
this is the email I got:
We are reaching out to you due to a recent failed transaction for your 2024 Player’s Handbook preorder on D&D Beyond. In 24 hours, we will attempt to reprocess the order so you can get the product you ordered.
If you would prefer to opt out of the re-processing for this preorder, please reach out to Wizards Customer Support. Please use the following subject line: “Opt Out of 2024 PHB preorder”, and ensure you include the e-mail address used for your order on D&D Beyond.
Also note, you still will receive all preorder perks that you are eligible for based on your original purchase. We very much appreciate your patience!
which is very nice of them to honor the preorder stuff based on the initial purchase
meanwhile, my local gamestore has tons of the alt cover PHB so I might double dip...
Thank you for your help. That was the root cause. I own part of SCAG and the full book is also shared with me via a campaign. That explains the odd behavior when I created a character outside the campaign.
I don’t believe it’s possible to create homebrew containers, but you can add an official container to your sheet and then click it to customize it in the sidebar.
Change the name, description, etc.
Dang it. They should change that so it's possible.
So is the solution just to buy the books again for full price (which is beyond annoying and unfair?)
I haven't recieved the email yet, I am just trying to mentally prepare myself
No - just that the physical books charge portion of your order is now being charged,
But that's the thing they cancelled that part of the order
But do reach out to customer service to get any clarification/updates on your order.
They'll get to you and get it resolved.
It appears that D&D Beyond has automatically changed my exidting chacrectors to 2024 versions. i.e. my monk who is only 4th level and supposed to have d4 for unarmed attacks now has d6 as the low level monks in 2024 edition have. I see how to select legacy classes when making a new character but I don't see an option to change back to legacy classes for existing characters. Please help as this affects a bunch of players in games i'm currently running.
Martial Arts. We don't have a method of disambiguating the Martial Arts granted by the 2014 Monk and the one from the 2024 Monk. As such, all Monks will temporarily match the 2024 Monk's Martial Arts Die until we’re able to fix this.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/bugs-support/204813-players-handbook-issues-and-support-thread
ok, thank you for the quick response!
I assume there’s some bundle logic with the discount that applies here, where your initial payment locks the order and grants digital options and then full charge on shipment, like preordering from other stores. The odd part is the timing of the release can cause confusion, but hopefully PayPal and Wizards can cooperate tomorrow
Is there a channel (or a different location) for reporting what appear to be bugs in the D&D Beyond application? Is this that channel? Most things I've checked out with the new rules seem to be working fine, but I have noted some things that look incorrect.
Hmmm, looks like maybe ddb-feedback...
Here or #ddb-feedback is fine.
Someone I am content sharing to said that once they picked an epic boon, ASI were able to go over 20. Is this intentional?
Far as I know, yeah.
I got a weird email about my DNDBeyond pre-order being cancelled yet still have the book in my sources...is this a scam?
But I ordered it two months ago, the transaction says complete and I have the digital copy of the book
I got the exact same email...what is going on?
I already paid for the items
This is a little irritating
If you preorder the digital version of the 2024 handbook do you get the goodies (backdrops etc.) only when it releases on the 17th?
Hello! I'm trying to add the warcaster feat to my 2024 Level 4 cleric but it says I don't have spellcaster level 1. However I do since the cleric is level 4. Am I missing something or is this a bug?
War Caster is bugged, you gotta temporarily turn off Feat Requirements to access it until they fix it
Hey yall, I was wondering if it was possible to purchase the 2014 player bundle still? I just bought my subscription today, and I have been looking around because I heard that bundle had some good stuff but cant find it. Is it no longer available?
it wont let me add the digital version of the 2024 rulebook to my cart. it just sets it to physical.
figured it out, i had to go through a really weird alternate way to add it to my cart...
Hey I'm trying to make a lvl 1 wizard but ddb says I only have 3 prepared spells when I have 4 according to the description
As I guessed it's using 2014 rules even though it's disabled
https://marketplace.dndbeyond.com/category/3709000?pid=DB3709000 and toggle the digital + physical button under product format to get the physical + digital bundle.
Or if you want all 3 books (2024 Players Handbook, 2024 Dungeon Master's Guidebook, 2024 Monster Manual) use https://marketplace.dndbeyond.com/rulebooks/core-rulebook-bundle
Note that the DnDBeyond physical + digital bundles are only available in the US. For international orders you will need to use https://dndstore.wizards.com/ which does not offer the 3 book bundle but ordering the three books hybrid bundles will still unlock any preorder benefits.
Do I need to report a bug or is it known?
And you've toggled the legeacy content toggle?
Yup
Description in the "1. Class" says the 2024 rule but the stat uses 2014
Confirmed by changing my int stat
Oh... the decsriptions. I think this may be a known issue that they're still working on.
Wait - you;'e saying spell slots?
Prepared spells
Do you have a link to the character sheet?
In 2014 your prepared spells are int mod + wiz level
Yea one second
Ignore the fact that it's a muscle wizard
Thanks
Can I give edit privileges somehow?
Don't worry - I don't need them but also I'm not going to mess with it.
I'm more gathering info and seeing if I can spot any reason why it's not working - or if this is a new issue that needs to be reported back to the devs.
Alrighty, ping me if you need anything
I think this may be an issue - trying to see if it's already been reported or not
I'm just wondering how many new players had this issue without realizing
Okay noic, while I'm at it how come the new ddb sheet backgrounds don't show up, is that after the official launch?
man I'm just a community moderator! I don't know the dark depths of DnDBeyond's codebase!
I thought the new backgrounds show up if you own the 2024 Players Handbook or are building the character in a DnDBeyond campaign with content sharing that has it. Is that not the case?
But yeah, they won't show up without the 2024 PHB
I have 2024 but yea I'll stop bothering you about it 😅
It's not that important so maybe post launch I'll drop a forum post if it doesn't change
Thanks for the help Undying
Yeah no problem. Wish I had a magic wand to make it all better but unfortunately I only got a really small speaking tube to the kobold engineers and they have a million things they're busy working on right now... 😅
Just surprised cuz a lvl 1 core feature is a pretty big issue
Hope the kobolds roll high on their checks
Alright back to creating the least wizard wizard known to Faerun
heyo, for some reason my mates golaith character says he had advantage on everything beacause of powerful build 🤣
Two days since this PHB physical book cancellation fiasco and I submitted a ticket then as well. No email. No reply to the ticket. I’m starting to get more concerned.
Hey, I'm hoping I'm posting at the right place and if someone could help me, I'd appreciate it.
My GM bought a membership for DND beyond for our campaign. Although he sent us the link, all the content is blocked and we can't choose the subclasses we wanted. I missed something? We need to buy something else as well asides from the membership?
Thanks in advance
The best way to do this is to sync your account. My players had the same issue.
try Account>Licenses and sync.
This is in regards to the physical version of the PHB. If you check your bank records, you should see that you were charged only a portion of the price at the time of order. The remaining portion is charged when the physical book is being prepared for shipment. If that payment cannot be collected, the order is cancelled.
If you still want the physical book, no further action is needed (except to ensure the authorized payment method has sufficient funds).
If you have any questions about your specific order, please contact customer support.
You'd get them today, actually!
This is a known issue.
Tickets are answered in the order they're received. You'll get a response when your turn comes, and they'll get you taken care of.
To use shared character options:
- Someone with a Master Tier subscription needs to enable Content Sharing for the campaign.
- Someone in the group needs to own the book you want shared.
- Your character needs to be assigned to the campaign that's sharing it.
If all those things are already true, I'd recommend checking to see if your account entitlements are in sync.
So just to make it clear, we also need to own the books aside from the master tier subscription?
Yes. Neither subscription provides direct access to any of the books.
You can view the full list of benefits for each subscription tier here:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/store/subscribe
Hey all, the physical copies are due to arrive on the actual release date of the 17th right? The early access is only for the digital version as a result?
The physical copies were all shipping this week, so yeah, should be turning up soon.
D&D Beyond needs more Backgrounds and Custom Backgrounds And have all species written up in 2024 format from other sources. It wreaking havoc with trying to run games in D&D beyond as every player character created for my next campaign (which is predominately Fey) are not in 2024 format, and players are not happy with the limited Backgrounds as given in the 2024 players handbooks.
Can you be more specific? Is there a certain background + species combination you're having issues with? What issues exactly?
The 2024 rules do explicitly allow the use of backgrounds and species from older books:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/dnd/free-rules/creating-a-character#BackgroundsandSpeciesfromOlderBooks
Use it Yes. But all characters are Frankston Characters a mishmash ... very clumbersome.
It just a mess.
I had to add to one character Starry Wisp to charcter sheet because it not add it in for the player. (just one example).
I can pass along feedback if things aren't working as expected, but I need specifics to be able to do so.
What didn't add Starry Wisp? Were they expecting to get it from their background or species? If so, which background or species?
Magic Initiate (Druid) was not adding to an Autognome Character
I had to manually add it under spells.
Can you share a link to that character?
Do we know if there is a plan to use the ddb extras for 2024 wildshape forms like you can for 2014
Everything I see here indicates that Starry Wisp is being provided by Magic Initiate (Druid). Are you seeing something different here? Could you share a screenshot?
You can Yes Select it but does not show under Spells automatically
What specific steps did you take to add it, then?
This is the only info we've got so far:
Wild Shape. The existing Wild Shape has been renamed to Wild Shape (2014). We are currently unable to support the Wild Shape rules presented in the 2024 Player's Handbook. To avoid confusion, we have avoided creating a 2024 version of the Wild Shape extras section.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/bugs-support/204813-players-handbook-issues-and-support-thread
I'm not able to reproduce this with my own character. If I add the feat and select the spell, it then appears under Spells as expected.
Hi!
For the past few months, I've been trying to find a Dungeon Master's screen with the basic rules for 4th edition in Polish. I already have all the dice and 4th edition books with Polish translations; I just need the screen to run the campaign.
But I haven't found anything except screens made for specific campaigns.
Do you happen to know any websites, ideas, stores, or anything else where I could find something like this?
Maybe there's even an artist here who could translate and design the screen for me for a fee (negotiable).
Magical Secrets should now work as expected!
@obsidian gale@stuck charm@safe hedge@crystal scaffold@eternal bridge@nocturne nimbus@obsidian gale@unkempt vapor@cedar gyro
Ah thank you :) (yipeeee)
Checking it out!
You might try asking in #dnd-discussion or #dm-discussion. (This channel is for getting help with D&D Beyond specifically.)
sry, new to server
Happens all the time! No worries. (And good luck!)
So far, works like a charm with Magical Secrets!
"So what's on your spell list, Bard?" "Yes."
only slightly confusing thing is that bards are still learn & not prepred based and magical secrets sounds like its prepared
All classes now prepare their level 1+ spells.
Prepared Spells of Level 1+. You prepare the list of level 1+ spells that are available for you to cast with this feature. To start, choose four level 1 spells from the Bard spell list.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/classes/2190876-bard#Spellcasting-10292179
#dnd-rules can help if you have further questions about those changes.
thank you and ty for the ping :)
For those of you who were dealing with 2024 PHB pre-order cancellations, there is an update in #server-announcements message, the text of which I will also post here:
We want to provide an update on select PHB pre-order cancellations. There were two potential reasons for these cancellations, and we are working to resolve the issues quickly.
The first reason was a tech issue that caused some orders to fail payment processing when shipping started which caused the order to automatically cancel. On September 11th, customers in this category were notified via email that we will attempt to re-process their order after 24 hours with the opportunity to opt-out by contacting customer service.
The second reason was due to payment failure of the original payment method used for the pre-order when shipping started which caused the order to automatically cancel. This payment failure could include things like insufficient funds or an expired card. In this case, customers will be notified today with instructions on how they can re-order the PHB book using an updated payment method.
We’re sorry for any inconvenience but wanted to keep everyone informed as we quickly work to resolve the pre-orders.
Thank you so much!
Hello, I'm adapting my characters to the new core rule book 2024. I notice the issue in the character creator with the fighting style selector for the Paladin class. There is no any fighting style option. Did I miss something or it's really the issue?
It's known.
It’s known. And happens on Rangers too. You can add the fighting style feats manually in the “Features tab” of your sheet. I know that isn’t working as expected, but it’s a fairly accessible work around until it is
slay
Does someone have this 2024 backdrops as choosable option ?
I have it as default but cant choose it by choice. If i pick a other one i cant pick it again.
P.s. entitlement is synced 🙂
yeah I don't see 2024 backdrops either
idk if those exist
unless they were a physical and digital bundle pre-order bonus?
I preordered digital bundle instant when it was possible 😄 but dont have them....
ok it doesn't look like the 2024 class backdrops for character sheets are a pre-order bonus
Digital Bundle gets:
12 dice sets (one tailored for each class)
10 frames
5 backdrops
Digital + Physical Bundle also gets:
Dragons of D&D digital art book
D&D Beyond gold digital dice set
50th anniversary Gold Dragon mini releasing with the closed beta of the upcoming 3D VTT
so I don't know if it's intentional that you can't choose the 2024 versions of the class backdrops or not
It's still not including most Druid spells, when it should grant access to Wizard, Cleric, and Druid spell lists.
What are some of the spells that are missing?
I'll pass that on to the team for review.
I've got the same issue (idk if more people saying they have it helps the teams look into it faster or not but)
I get the same thing, but with one exception.
If I manually select another backdrop, I can still go back and rechoose the original at the top, labelled as "Default".
Will there be pre-order bonuses for the 2024 DMG and 2025 Monster Manual?
I assume yes and that I will have them once they're released, closer to the book's release date
since I ordered the digital bundle
I take it you don't see this "Default" option?
Yeah, there will be. Each comes with a dice set, five backdrops, and I-don't-remember-how-many frames. I haven't seen a release date announced for those.
phb was 5 frames so I assume 5 per book if they're all the same
no phb was 10 frames
wild
oh 5 regular and 5 of the same but animated, that's what I was thinking of
Both books say this in the Marketplace:
Pre-order the Digital edition for 12 frames, 5 backdrops, and a digital dice set for your character sheet.
It looks like it's all Druid spells that Wizards don't also gain access to. Some examples: Goodberry, Entangle, Barkskin, Spike Growth, Call Lightning, Grasping Vine, Conjure Animals, Conjure Woodland Beings, Giant Insect, Tree Stride, Wall of Thorns, etc.
Replied to the wrong thread the first time.
Confirmed. I've passed that along for review. Thanks!
I have also been told that fixed issues that are still reporting as bugged for some are helped if you clear your cache. If it's still not resolved after that, let us know.
Should be fixed!
anything new fixed lately?
Stuff's getting fixed everyday 😉
I think Magical Secrets is working as intended now
Yay! Looks like all the Cleric, Wizard, and Druid spells are there now. Thank you!
Cool, but are agonizing and repelling blasts along with that warlock invokation that gives an origin feat working properly now?
The devs are still hard at work on the remaining issues.
Looks like there are still some subtle issues at levels 7-9 for the bard. It's giving the wrong number of spells know for those levels
Leave it to the D&D community to heavily scrutinize everything to help find even the smallest of errors (this is a positive statement)
Question, anyone figure out yet how to get homebrew subclasses working with 2024 characters?
I just finished creating a genasi species option and wanted to create 2 other versions as the spellcasting species are a pita to make when they have stat options but for the life of me, i cannot figure out how to use an existing homebrew species to show up as a template option. This used to be very easy. Was this option removed?
It looks like if you dont create the species as a whole, then you cant create options for it?
Species Group and Is Variant? are both empty
Your left screenshot is the 2024 bard, but the right one is 2014. You can find the 2024 bard table here:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/dnd/phb-2024/character-classes#BardFeatures
That said, level 8 does indeed seem off by one (but only that level).
Since they’re set up as separate classes, you won’t be able to use any prior homebrew subclasses.
But it’s effectively the same process as before: just create the subclass and make sure Homebrew Content is enabled for your character.
Any update on Pact of the Blade properly applying Charisma in dndbeyond?
Ok, so I have to build it again from scratch?
will people who pre-ordered the dmg be able to access it early, like how the phb pre-orders has early access?
Yep.
thank youuu
Formatting homebrew help? First 2 images are how it's written and saved, third image is how it appears in the char sheet
(Don't mind typos)
Has anyone heard anything about the book cancellations?
I have yet to receive an email or anything from D&D Beyond
Check your spam filters - otherwise check with customer service to see what’s happening with your order
This is the most recent info we have: #ddb-support message
Nothing in Spam
and no email yet
I feel like I am going to get stuck having to buy the PHB again...
since that's the only one that got cancelled
Yep! Two weeks early for Master Tier, one week for Hero.
I have a 2014 paladin, and wanted to use the 2024 Daylight, but I don't see it in known spells. If I have "legacy" on does that mean I only see the legacy version, and I need to disable legacy, prepare 2024 Daylight and then switch "legacy" on again? Or how should I do this?
(I own the 2024 PHB and so does the DM who is sharing the content in his campaign)
There’s a known issue for 2014 paladins missing 2024 spells.
Is the epic boon 'Boon of Fortitude' not working, my characters max HP is not increasing
Yeah, that’s a known issue.
k thanks
Should be fixed!
You are literally the best
Ty for letting me know, I'll tell my buddy
I've been told you should now be able to add the new Potion of Healing to your character sheets. Since I couldn't reproduce the issue to begin with, though, I can't verify myself. Please let me know if you're still having issues there.
@short oak@dense viper
Oh, you remembered me! 😎 Best. Server. Ever! You mods are doing a wonderful job ❤️
I've been told you should now be able to access Befuddlement. Since I couldn't reproduce the issue to begin with, though, I can't verify myself. Please let me know if you're still having issues there.
@frank atlas@rain forum
Just tested this and as of this morning I can finally add a potion of healing to my inventory.
One issue with the potion of healing is that it doesn’t list its cost as 50 GP. It’s currently showing — for its cost.
I'll pass that along. Thanks!
is there a way to see my subscription history? I can't find this information anywhere on the DDB site.
spamandtuna is just really on top of it and knows what's up
Great mod
I'm not sure. This page offers the most in-depth view on subscriptions, but I'm not sure if that has what you're looking for:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/licenses
You may be able to look at what sub perks you have for which months to see when you were and were not subscribed
Which would be in lisences, where spamandtuna just linked
heya, not sure if this is the correct channel for this, but as a ranger, picking the "fighting style", doesnt give you the option to choose wich feat, unless im missing something?
Hey how can I unlock Lost Mine of Phandelver on ddb?
This is a known issue.
I checked there. I was interested in seeing the payment dates going back to when I used to have a Hero sub, before I upgraded to Master. I don't know if there were monthly perks back then.
is there a way to add in archery manualy?
Lost Mine itself is no longer sold but you can get the expanded version, Phandelver and Below: The Shattered Obelisk, which includes Lost Mine and more.
Kay thanks
You may have to contact customer support for that.
Yeah, you can add it on the character sheet itself under Features & Traits > Manage Feats.
ah yeah i found it, thanks
Was the bundle removal (Players handbook to be accurate) done to those folks with no saved payment method that used paypal for their initial purchase? That is my theory
Nice, got access to Lost Mine of Phandelver now
Now the only issue is the 2024 book is not being shared even though I have content sharing on
Have your players sync their entitlements here (https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/licenses) Should be near the top of the page
Seems like it worked thanks
Hey so it says that lessons of the first ones gives the origin feat but just isn't repeatable yet on the website
however in the character maker it still does not work
Yep. Officially cancelled my DMG and MM from DDB too and am just gonna buy local to support the only good aspect of this product/community as much as possible.
Never got a follow up email. Had the PHB cancelled even though I had no notice of a follow up charge, and had enough money to have covered it.
Beyond stoked to support a local store more, and corporate nonsense a little less. ✌️
That’s a known issue.
well yeah but the support thread says it adds origin feats now
aka the thread which says whats known and fixed or not fixed
unless I missed something
Indeed it does
Funny. My PayPal account has funds and was charged successfully the Master Tier renewal. Four days later no emails and no response to my ticket at all.
I've been told that the team working on getting those emails out is still working on that, so hang tight
Thanks. I was gonna order an additional physical and digital bundle to gift to my nephew who runs a D&D club at his school but this is giving me pause until this issue is resolved.
i totally get it. appreciate your continued patience 🙂
Send a screenshot of what you mean here please
it just doesn't show an option to on my end
When I pick CL, I can pick ALL the Core feats, despite them having a restriction of L4+
I can also pick any 2014 Legacy feat, even if there is a new versio of that feat. My understanding is that RAW if you have 2024 and Extended and using a 2024 class, then you must pick the 2024 versio of feat instead of 2014.
Wait were you talking about the thread or feat?
Exactly
May have found a bug. 2024 warlock repeatable invocation are not repeatable, nor is there a way to choose the catnip in the builder.
I’m a bit confused about where to find the latest word on official updates and bug status for 2024 PHB. Would it just be an update posted on this big thread?
Welcome to the Support Thread for Player’s Handbook!
If you find any issues with the content from the sourcebook, or using it on a D&D Beyond character,...
I was simply agreeing that what the thread states is not what’s happening on the sheet. As I said at the beginning, it’s a known issue.
The link you posted also references this for issues @balmy cape
Welcome to the Support Thread for Player’s Handbook!
If you find any issues with the content from the sourcebook, or using it on a D&D Beyond character,...
Oops i think for fix tracking in case helpful
Oh thank you. I’m trying to keep an eye on fixes that I know have been documented and/or reported without adding to the noise.
What level is this character? Do you have Feat Prerequisites disabled for this character?
Either way, the legacy feats won’t be removed because they still need to support legacy characters.
How do you pick different paths for a barbarian on dnd beyond?
These are known issues.
Nvm I found it
It's like the Dungeon Master's Handbook and the Player's Handbook are two halves of a whole. If the players handbook feels incomplete to ya this is what i think is why. I just got my players handbook 2024. And I feel that this is only half the book. Great for players to create. Their characters, but once the DM guide comes out, I believe all our questions. Or holes in rules and Character building will be filled with the DMG. I feel that they're not releasing the DMG with the Player's Handbook so that they have time to adjust the DMG to fix what problems just the playbook has created.
thank you D&D beyond i love the new book
Level 8 is now fixed!
Thanks! Glad I caught a minor issue lol
DDB marketplace support is really driving me up the wall. Very slow to answer me - if at ll. How do I get someone to respond to me.?
If you have a CS ticket open they’ll respond in the order it was received. Beyond that I have no way to know where your specific ticket is in the queue or when it will be picked up and handled. So all I can do is encourage patience and double check your spam folder.
My player's character is greyed out and cannot be selected to add to our campaign. How can we fix this? Solved: Player is not good at doing things.
How many characters are in that campaign? I believe campaigns can only have 12 active characters.
Solved, sorry - should have deleted the post. The player in question built their character in another campaign with some other DM guiding them through the process (meanwhile ignoring all our character creation guidelines/allowed sources lol).
Has there been any word on if they recharged the PayPal orders that were canceled? No worries if they’re still working on some, I’m sure everyone is wicked busy. I just haven’t been charged yet and I’m wanting to know if I should re-order mine?
You are supposed to get an email if you were one of those impacted by this - but I believe they may be handling it in batches.
So check your emails/spam filters.
But if you want to know what exactly is happening with your order, make sure to contact customer service.

D&D Beyond customer support can be contacted at the link below. Requests are answered in the order they're received. Submitting multiple requests for the same issue can result in a delayed response.

Coolio, thank you!
Thank you UndyingNoob. Your just great for how well you handle things. Just know that you are appreciated for what you do.
can you add tooltip links to 2024 content in homebrew statblocks, such as a spell or condition or has that not been implemented yet?
Why does my character sheet say my level 5 eldritch knight has 4/5 known spells selected when eldritch knights don't get their 5th spell known until level 7?
Thank you Hasbro for stealing $60 off my invoiced PayPal charge from June claiming that the payment failed for the physical text, then offering a COUPON as some grand gesture of kindness for me to fall prey to the same con again. Canceled Beyond. Only ever running 1st or 2nd Ed from now on and warning people about the digital bloodsucking that's about to transpire for others. Valuable lesson was learned.
Miscount. They know.
Ah gotcha
They're already working on fixing the issue.
Sounds like it's on Paypal's end.
paypal is pretty notorious for issues like this apparently
Glad I don't use it so much. Only once or twice.
I canceled the remaining texts from the order. I'm not the audience of 2024 anyhow.
nope. looks like it's a nice hasbro/wotc issue since they billed the whole price, processed the initial payment for the bundle, have taken other payments from other purchases and renewed my subscription through my paypal account. four days and i also filed my ticket then with all the relevent information. not even a peep to my email after sending me a request received email four. days. ago.
We're never getting that money back, either.
Love this blame shifting to PayPal, I'm sure it isn't spearheaded by some reason to lump it in with Musk.
Yea I got my coupon today to repurchase the physicals for the $180 bundle (digitals seem to have fully purchased) the coupon applies to the 3 book physical bundle making it $136 instead of $150. So I end up paying more than I did for the preorder bundle. Nice fix!
Hope you learned the lesson I did.
If anyone with more resources wants to start a class action just let me know I'll throw my evidence your way.
Oh I’m not purchasing the physicals again. They can send me a coupon to make the physicals what I would have paid in that initial bundle. If they don’t, they aren’t getting more out of me.
Massive oversight on their end, I understand it was a technical issue… but to throw out a half baked apology in the form of a $10 coupon off ONE book. Just slapping us in the face and proving to me that maybe everyone was right about hasbro and wotc being overly greedy. I wanted to have faith. Its gone
FOLKS it's called PEN & PAPER for a reason.
But like I said, if they want to do it proper and make it right. Send the coupons that will make it what it would have been ($112 for the 3 physical bundle) I will place the order gladly. We get a single $10 coupon for what was (for me) 3 cancelled physical books out of a bundle.
Some of us like pdf's and digital tools. Especially if you want portability and have disabilities, but I get your point.
Yea and see I don’t mind the digital tools from time to time. I do want my physical books though.
I would too, but I don't believe it would ever just end there. Why? The customer support reply I received read like a smack in the face. I have my 2e texts. I have my PDFs. I also have my options. Whatever the lost money amounts to comes to the dignity of not having 2024 on my bookshelf, which, I won't get into it here for obvious reasons, has a plus to it as well.
We legit got smacked in the face with a partially used bandaid.
A true "user experience."
not to worry folks! chris, jeremy, and todd are drinking some fine libations to celebrate this bang-up launch! it's happy hour!
Drinks are on me, I paid off that balance in June.
Don't care, money was stolen.
At least you got a coupon for it. Me? Nada.
I'll not be giving it out as a means to prevent any difference of the $5 or whatever it is to be accrued balance. Effectively, I'd be funding them by proxy.
But you're free to buy anything you want with your money.
Oh as I'm seeing red, I misread. Yeah, that's bad but you know the "fool me once" thing.
In either case I'm a persona non grata in this server from a X post Varg Vikernes made earlier in the year from the inclusion of a screencap on my Steam Workshop upload.
Bye all, and cheers.
According to forum comments on D&D Beyond, it appears that many customers who pre-ordered the 2024 Player's Handbook using PayPal are receiving emails which say that their payments failed to go through.
LaTia Jacquise, the D&D community manager, has asked those affected to file support tickets...
You're assuming there's malice when it's an error.
Error or not, it’s not fault on our end. I don’t think many of us are asking for extra off, we are just asking for the proper amount off on the reorder of the physical bundle.
As it stands we would be paying $220+ for the full physical+digital bundle. The bundle that is supposed to be $180
I can manage $40 extra but it isn’t the point.
I guess not everyone is having the exact issue I am, maybe. My 3 physical out of the bundle were all cancelled despite knowing for sure the account has more than the needed amount. The digitals went through fine.
If you check your actual bank accounts (not the payment authorization from PayPal), you should see only a partial charge at the original time of purchase.
**When will I be billed for my Preorder? **
If you pre-order a D&D product on the D&D Beyond Marketplace or the D&D Store your card will receive an initial authorization in the amount of the full order price, but will only be charged for the digital items and any Physical Items on your purchase which are not pre-ordered. Once the physical items you Pre-Ordered begin shipping to you (usually about a week before the official release so you get it in time), your card will then be charged for those items plus the shipping fees. Any discounts will be split across the payments based on their portion of the total cost. Tax is applied separately to each transaction.
For example: If you pre-order a Digital/Physical Book bundle for $59.99 ($79.99 with a $20 Bundle Discount), card will initially receive an authorization for for $59.99 + Tax & Shipping. The final charge on the transaction will be applied as $22.49 + Tax for the Digital content ($29.99 - $7.50 Discount). When the physical book starts shipping, you will then receive a separate charge for $37.50 + Tax & Shipping ($59.99 - $12.49 Discount).
Yes, so I will say I wasn’t charged for the 3 physicals. I was charged for the 3 digitals. Problem is if I want to now go purchase the 3 physical bundle. The total price I paid for the digitals and reordering the physicals (even with the provided coupon code) it ends up being $220+ instead of $180
So I’m paying more for the bundle I should have been receiving. For an issue that wasn’t caused by me.
Funny. That wasn't anywhere on the site prior to this week. Especifically when most of us ordered it back in June,. Smokey summed it up nicely what is needed..
I reiterate, slapped with a used bandaid.
I’m looking forward to PayPal’s release on all of this. I know I was informed it wasn’t on their end. 🤷
As a company, if you want to cover something up… use the entire blanket. Or you are likely to have cold feet.
Thats the issue for me. Why did this happen. Was the discount too steep? Why is it only One book that didnt go through? Why wont they answer ANY of our questions in this regard?
Now we will most likely have to pay more than what was promised...am I wrong?
I pre-ordered the digital core rulebook bundle, but some of my perks aren't showing up. Specifically, I can't find the gold dice set and the Dragons of D&D art book. Strangely enough, I received my class dice, so why didn't my other perks show up?
If you ordered before Sept. 3, you should have already received an email in the last week or two with a redemption code for those.
If you ordered after, it should arrive within a week or so.
Then if it still hasn’t arrived, I’d recommend contacting customer support.
I ordered like 2 hours ago, so that explains it
Thank you so much!
It would have been nice if there were an alternative way to find it rather than e-mail
(this was how I found out DDB hasn't been successfully sending e-mail to that specific address for months... sent a ticket to get it fixed but I have a feeling I'm going to be waiting a while)
I just bought spelljammer and adventure atlas the mortuary (both digital) and I can read them, but I can't access any of the monsters, spells, items etc. Do I just need to wait for the website to realise I own them or is this an issue?
Wait nevermind it's just sorted itself, turns out I just needed to wait lol
Will physical character sheets change or do the 2024/2014 both use same character sheets without issues? Will there be differences between a character sheet I printed out a few months and one I print out later this year? If so what? Is it significant changes or just layouts?
My Wizard PC had Conjure Minor Elementals in his spellbook. Checking it just now, it has switched from the legacy version to the 2024 version, and the legacy version does not appear on the list of spells he can add to his spellbook.
Have you toggled the Legacy toggle on your sheet?
Yes, confirmed. And other legacy versions of spells do appear.
Have you done a cache clear/refresh just to make sure it isn't a cashing issue?
Other than that double check to see if it's happening on a different character sheet or not.
I’m using my phone browser and the app. Same problem either way.
