Ideally, it should say "Your entitlements data is in sync!"
If not, there should be a button there to manually trigger the sync.
Yep found it, they not synced..... They are now! Thank you for your help!
this has never happened before until recently, I just turned extensions off again as I think its Beyond 20 that is the problem as it was malfunctioning this past friday
Yeah, Beyond 20 regularly interferes with the site, in one way or another. 😅
I am just surprised it decided to go poo brain now when its been fine for the longest time.
well lets see if that is the one
yeah beyond 20 seems to have been it
unfortunate that is gone poo brain. it was useful.
guess I gotta manually update hp of characters once more
hey, quick question. I purchased a book today but the class didn't unlock, is there a grace period before that becomes available on the character sheet?
specifically the Artificer from Tasha's Cauldron
*chefs kiss
worked like a charm tY!
I no longer have the email address associated with D&D Beyond ... how to I go about changing that?
No matter where I go the site not allowing me to change my email address.
don't want to leave you on read with no response, took a min but the people here were able to get my fix so don't give up!
is your email tied to content?
It tied to D&D beyond ... which I can log into. BUT when I preordered it still showing my Old Email Address.
I log into D&D Beyond with Twitch ... which has the correct info.
oh like in the linked accounts? it shows an old email?
On D&D Beyond it shows wrong email address.
I don't wanna steer you in the wrong direction, support should chime in shortly
Figured with Holiday nearly on us I not hear anything till Tuesday?
Hi im trying to find a game or a group to join I went to the find a game typed in #looking-for-dm am I not doing it right ?
You are not.
You need to use the / command.
Which is similar to what you typed but with the slash
On the mobile app for D&DBeyond, when I enter any sourcebook or adventure, the formatting breaks and appears in just plain coolord text. Any help?
Guess Support not working late at night/very early morning
No, this isn't a "fan server", it's the official D&D discord server
This channel however is not the official/formal customer support contact line/method, it's a space for the community and moderators to provide support assistance before needing to involve CS
And the CS team works reasonable hours; business hours Monday to Friday. They don't work early/late/nights/weekends
Is there anyway that i can print out all stat blocks?
Yes
Other than opening up each of the hundreds of stat blocks and printing out the web page, no
Ok is there any where other than D&D beyond that might have them?
That's not a DDB support question
Ok mb thank you anyway
when I am updating a character it is taking very long until it "updates" but it never updates and just goes on and on on the loading icon
it looks like it is the entire characters page that is not working
can confirm, the character pages are not loading
All of My chars disappeared 😔
#ddb-support Character pages are not loading and this is not when a planned upgrade was confirmed... What is happening? We're in the middle of a battle and can't access our character sheets
Yeah, looks like the site is having issues. My game has come to a stop while we wait for the characters to load.
it's back!
How will early access with the master sub work? Will it be available at a certain time of day? Will we have to have purchased a specific sku or will the digital only version qualify?
If you've pre-ordered, you'll get access some point shortly after the maintainence window ends
Which is 9am pst?
That is the current estimated time that the maintenance window will be completed.
thanks guys, you're the best!
im having some trouble with ddb, can a mod message me when they get a change.
If you say what you are having trouble with someone who isnt a mod may be able to help.
I'm trying to create a level 3 eldritch knight, I'm trying to pick my archetype but the only option its giving me is champion, no option for eldritch knight or battlemaster.
Did you buy the Player's Handbook?
not on ddb
?books
?books
There are four ways to access content on D&D Beyond that you may have in your physical books
- Purchase the full digital book from the marketplace
- Purchase a digital/physical bundle from the marketplace
- Join a DnDBeyond campaign with someone who already owns the book where content sharing has been enabled
- Use the homebrew tools to copy the content from your physical book into D&D Beyond. Note: Do not publish any content copied in this way, it is for personal use only
(mod only command)
Thanks for putting the command in. I didnt know it was mod only
does anyone know if we have master tier and bought the new PHB, can our players in campaigns see it tomorrow?
Once the downtime is over, I believe that if you have the book and a Master Tier subscription, that early access will be shared with others in the same group where content sharing is enabled
Will I be able to content share the new PHB when it releases tomorrow?
That question was answered by a mod before you asked it, look one message up
You’re right lol my bad man
I bought Stormwreck Isle but I cannot figure out how to activate it for use
Only the "intro" shows up
Those premade campaigns just include some starter text in the campaign.
I cannot figure out how to access the product
If you want to play anything else, you can simply create a new campaign and set it up as you see fit.
I cannot find the digital book
I got an email saying my subscription is on hold. When I added my current credit card I keep getting "Couldn't Collect Payment"
I opened a ticket, but I guess support will be busy with the rollout and my issue will be deprioritized. Is there anything I can do on my side to try to fix this?
Im a pro DM and depend on my subscription to share my content and have games planned to use the 2024 PHB 😦
Got it, thank you
Not sure what would cause that message, I’m afraid. You could try using another card or try contacting your bank for more info.
Otherwise, no one here can help with specific payment issues, so Customer Support is the best path forward.
I guessed, but maybe there was a known issue with that for a symptom
Thx for answering
PHB early access for master tier is at 12:15 UTC. Is that just after noon or is that midnight? Military time or am/pm lol?
Just after noon, but you'd have to adjust to your timezone.
As far as I'm aware, no specific time has been given. It should be shortly after the end of the maintenance period, all things going well
Does anyone know why the Circle of the Moon won't show up in my character creator for Druids in D&D Beyond? It only shows me the Circle of the Land.
Did you buy the Player's Handbook
Might wanna check your entitlements then in your profile
Are there any DDB promo codes for the 2024 PHB Digital Physical Bundle?
I own an "Explorer's Guide to Wildemount" but upon clicking on any of the resources/contents I am brought to the page to buy the book that I already own.
have you checked your entirlements
@wary comet @strange osprey Can you check here to see whether your account entitlements are in sync?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/licenses
None that I’m aware of.
at the top of that page
it usually does, but sometimes it just doesnt
Word, thanks
I synced it and I have access to it now! Thank you !
If I preordered the digital and physical bundle on D&D Beyond is the book going to ship tomorrow and the digital version unlocked tomorrow as well? I'm checking my order history and it says it hasn't shipped yet from my account
The physical book will ship closer to the general release date, not the early access date
I guess they should have advertised that better that when you bought early access when you pre-ordered it was only for the digital version. Unless I missed something.
I can see how that might be confusing for some, but it does call out D&D Beyond subscriber which, to me, implies that early access would be via D&D Beyond.
Oh. My read on it was it was a perk for being a D&D beyond subscriber since they do sell physical books through D&D Beyond now. But then again Wizards of the Coast just can't seem to get their marketing right. From trying to delete older content we paid for. And refusing to admit when they used AI in advertisement material for magic the gathering. And then only admitting it went industry professionals started calling them out.
if we bought the new rulebook with early access (which is listed as sometime tomorrow) will be get access to the updated builder in dnd beyond to make characters with that new book as soon as we get access to the book digitally? or do we have to wait to use it until it fully releases or something
I assume that's what the maintenance scheduled for tomorrow is. I was just under the impression early access counted for the physical books as well.
Your screenshot here doesn't say anything about the early access. The places that mention it are pretty clear about getting the online book early, saying nothing about the physical (common sense would dictate then that the physical book is not included in the early access)
All I'm saying is they could have been more clear about it.
That also doesn't say anything about early access
After all it did take them three tries to properly word what they were doing to previously purchased content. Before backing out completely with a public apology for deleting stuff we already paid for.
It says you get them weeks earlier before anyone else here.
The point is it doesn't state that you get the physical books early.
^
It's a bundle. 😮💨 Never mind I tried.
I can understand why someone might interpret it that way but unless something explicitly states that the physical books will ship early, I read the information that D&D/DnDBeyond shared as saying the early access was for the digital books.
What time do we feel this is coming out at?
Some time after the maintenance ends
Ugh
The international shop says there's a waiting list for the digital+physical bundle. Can I still get digital access even if the physical book will be shipped later? I can't find any way to purchase it even with later shipping
How does one add a stat to armor similar to the serpent scale mail, where the dex mod isn't capped at +2 for medium armor?
You could make a homebrew copy of that serpent scale mail if you want to see exactly how they set it up.
Have to find one I have access to. (yet another example of a time I would have used a la carte for something 🙄 )
Looks like it use a Modifier with:
- Type: Set
- Subtype: AC Max Dex Modifier
- Fixed Value: 10
Ah, the fixed value was the missing piece, thank you
Is there a list somewhere for what all of those modifiers do/expect? I feel like this should be a thing
Not that I’m aware of.
But I trick I often use is in the Advanced Filters for magic items.
You can search by “Effect Type” and “Effect Subtype” to see which magic items use that modifier (if any).
That makes sense. Thanks again.
Early access has never applied to physical books.
I keep trying to buy the digital 2024 PHB but it keeps saying there was a problem processing my payment?
You may need to contact either your bank or customer support for more info.

D&D Beyond customer support can be contacted at the link below. Requests are answered in the order they're received. Submitting multiple requests for the same issue can result in a delayed response.

I heard there is a maintenance tomorrow? When is that?
Read the big old banner on top of DnDBeyond.com but to answer the question - 5-9 am pacific
I don't have the banner, why would I ask if I did
5-9 am pacific as I said previously 😉
thank you for the help
My problem persists, I disabled all extensions yet it still does it, each time I edit any homebrew, it triggers the security... I already sent in a support ticket as I am done but just wanted to come here and say I still have a problem. 🙂 Hopefully a solution makes itself know soon via DDB Support staff. Thanks Discord people anyway for the help that you gave.
Hey I'm trying to link my discord account to my DnD beyond account and it says it's already linked. I've tried every old email/login I could think of but none of them are linked to my discord account. Is there anyway to find out and relink it to my main account?
You could try using !ddb-debug to find out which DDB account is linked.
But if you can’t log in to that account to get it unlinked, you’d have to talk to customer support.
Sounds good thank you!
I pre ordered the handbook and I am master tier. I also bought the Gm all that's left is monster manual. When would I get the physical book?
Just wondering so I can be home for delivery.
your physical book will ship with everyone else's physical books, since the physical ones are not part of the early access for subscribers
Thank you so much!
im subscribed to master subscription and preodered players handbook but don't have access yet?
It’s not out yet, we are assuming that it will be out after maintenance is over
The book does not release at 00:00:01 September 3rd your local time
D&D Beyond books always release based on the local time at D&D Beyond, usually after the team has had time to get into the office and start the process
The book will not release before the maintainence window and is not guaranteed to release immediately after the window, but should release shortly after if all things go well
Remember that this is a significant update so things may take a little longer than with previous book launches
when will the character creator on the website be updated to the 2024 rules?
After the books release
the 17th release date or the now release date?
The latter
Thank You
Hey all, I'm updating my character sheet and it's saving my changes in my actual character sheet, but any visible changes (such as avatar picture) are not updating on the campaign page where all players are shown. Is this a known issue?
That's caching, it'll update eventually
thanks!

Can i buy Tokens for the map? I want to be able to insert an innkeeper, Ox, etc. 🙂
You can use tokens for monsters in any books you've purchased, or from any homebrew monsters you've created.
It's not possible to buy tokens separately.
you can create (via homebrew section) a new monster called "inkeeper" or "ox", etc.. put an image on it and you'll see it among your monster section in maps
Very helpful, many thanks 🙂
Hey I heard a youtuber tell even free tier gets some 2024 ruleset to create 2024 characters ( few classess( post maintenance is it true?
If yes what are they? I couldn't find that information anywhere else.
Thanks
Yep! The D&D Free Rules release today with a small selection of classes, races, etc.
Cleric, Fight, Rogue, Wizard
Dwarf, Elf, Halfling, Human
Those options will be expanded on the 17th as well.
Ok thanks for the info
How long wilh the DDB maintenance remain ? The PHB24 release is 7 min ago.
Best Regards
SITE MAINTENANCE IS UNDERWAY SHOULD BE EXPECTED TO LAST UNTIL <t:1725379200:t>. UNTIL THAT TIME THE SITE WILL BE INACCESSIBLE. WE APOLOGISE FOR ANY DISRUPTION TO YOUR D&D GAMES
No, it's not 7 minutes ago. Any information specifying an exact time of release is incorrect
I think they're referring to the Discord event here, which started automatically at <t:1725375600:t>.
We always set events for releases to start at that time and run for 24 hours.
Yes at David. I though the side goes online according to releasetime of the book 😄 my bad. Sry for this.
Ty at spamandtuna
I hope u take my "sorry" 😄 its only because i cant wait to play 😄
Since I’ll have access to the 2024 PHB early (very excited) will it be one of the books I’m able to share with the campaign I’m running? Will my players who haven’t been able to purchase yet be able to use it to create or modify their characters?
@modest pelican 11AM in which time zone? Eastern is like 25 min, Pacific would be a bit longer…
The timestamp is in magic Discord mode, it shows your local time
Ooohhhhh, fancy!
I believe they have been saying that the new PHB will be shared
That’s what I’m hoping for. I’d love for them to be able to mess round with it.
Eyy, cheers mate
SITE MAINTENANCE IS UNDERWAY SHOULD BE EXPECTED TO LAST UNTIL <t:1725379200:t>. UNTIL THAT TIME THE SITE WILL BE INACCESSIBLE. WE APOLOGISE FOR ANY DISRUPTION TO YOUR D&D GAMES
The time in this message is displayed in your local time
Does anyone know if the changes to character sheets happening today will include the aforementioned relabeling and renaming?
You will need to wait until the site is back online to view the latest changelog
Got it, thanks
How much is the digital phisical bundle after tax and shipping for the new phb?
Tax and shipping are based on where you live so no one here can fully answer that question
Ok. Sometimes it’s just universal shipping cost within the US so I wasn’t sure if it was like a flat 6.99 or something
has the maintenance window been extended?
was about to ask about that myself
same lmao
The window has literally just ended. Maintenance is finicky, y'all just gotta hang tight
ive got a game schedulded lmaoo
When we give times in Discord, we use a bot that shows the time where you are. What you're seeing is your time zone.
I just wanna buy a gift card so I can buy the new phb bundle but nooooo I don’t know how much I need to get 😂 my stupid credit card doesn’t work
bst
I'm sure they're working on it. We'll let you know as soon as there's an official update either way.
Support mods. Thank you. Volunteer and thankless. Have the best day possible.
I think it would be great if they just said "hey this is going to take a little longer than we thought" as I think we are all just excited is all
They just said that
^^'
No expected end-time? One hour, four hours...
I imagine they're trying to get themselves ready to have so many people load in
As someone who works in IT. If you try to give a guess on when you will be done you wont be done at that time
Aint that the truth
Too real
partially agree.. but you know if you are flying toward a conclusion or you are swimming in a mud
To qoute Croebh in #1252622903669686342 "No planned maintenance survives contact with production"
It’s usually better to under promise, over deliver. If they guess a time then are wrong again -> more problems
It’s lose-lose as far as announcing when they’ll be done lol
DDB does not go down for maintenance very often so they are a bit our of practice, and with large changes, the earlier estimate was a best guess. Have patience and give the devs the time they need so it will be a good update and not have further issues.
I'm not asking for a time.. I just expect a "soon" or "not-so-soon" 😄
Is that what is taking the extra time is to bring back the party wizard?
I mean, they are "Wizards" of the Coast, afterall.
I've got players waiting 😦 A "soon" or "not so soon" would be really helpful
I've got a curse of strahd in 3 hours, the players have opted to make their sheets in roll20 as a backup
We don't have an exact end time (look where that got us in the first place), but we will inform you as soon as it's over
Just keep an eye out on #dnd-announcements for the time being while here on the Discord.
I personally don't think it'll be another 4 hours, though, for comparison's sake

I was hoping to do some reading over lunch. Guess I'll just eat something. TACOS!
tacos for lunch sounds great 🤤
okay, back to maintenance watching I go, whee~
I do feel bad for people with games, but I'm just very excited to read it all
Me realizing players leveled up last session and I forgot to export the pdf sheets as backups. That's on me for sure sure. I'm assuming we'll have access tonight, if not we'll make due.
Hopefully the are also fixing the fact that PayPal has been broken since May...
Also, tacos do sound amazing right now
at least in Canada...
For a moment I thought you were saying tacos sound amazing in Canada. 🙊
No... but I saw "SpamAndTuna" is writing a message and now I want tuna tacos...
spicy tuna tacos with a margarita... hmmm... where to get tortillas close by.
I got burger and fries. regretting not getting tacos instead
Personally excited to see all the changes to the site and for 5.5e to be up
for people with the Master Tier who are getting early access to the PHB digitally on dndbeyond, is it going to just be available to read as a source book until the 17th, or will it actually be integrated into character building starting today?
Everyone should be able to build characters today, whether through PHB early access or the preview release of the D&D Free Rules.
.> Cool, wait I haven't seen it confirmed will players connected to the campaigns with Content sharing on be allowed to access the content from 2024 PHB as well?
They sure will just like every early access we had up to now
Did they forget to turn the site back on?
Any update on the new expected time of completion for site maintenance?
Nope
If we have an update we will post it here and in #dnd-announcements
Until then please have patience. Digital Deployments never turn out the way you planned them
^^^^
To whoever had a session planned I hope things go okay for you too
I hope have a game in 3 hours
Ahh it should be fine by then hopefully
I’ve participated in hundreds of system deployments - many for web sites. These things usually go sideways.
I just hope it’s up in an hour for our game session. 🙂
If there will ever be a successfull planned deployment that goes off without a hitch I will believe Skynet is taking over squint
Yeah. You have to give an estimate, but anything and everything going wrong is on the table. I've had rollouts where I wanted to say "Looking like about 2 hours, but possibly a week and a half."
maybe they just need to unplug the server and plug it back in
I hope we have a game in 10 min. I ckeck every 15 min since server should been online officially 😦
Maybe there are gremlins causing the delay?
damn Gremlins
At this point in the roll out that would probably make it take another hour to a day. Servers take a long time to come back up
The sad truth of that is than when you have hundreds of thousands of people who have been waiting kinna frenetically for the thing you're deploying, the realities of deployment don't matter. People are gonna be antsy, confused, irritated, and questioning things when a given time is missed. Only way to fix people wondering why da hecc the website isn't up yet is to get the website back up.
True but things like this are never set times
Nah, I'd just apply percussive maintenance and intimidating threats of violence to the server architecture
Foolproof
And many people are not as tech savvy and don't know how excruciating it can be to go through an deployment that has to be extended. It is a lot of work
every one pressing F5
Shaking a wrench at the server wont make it go faster
well not with that attitude
I wish D&D Beyond would take all of the old school original adventures and bring them back out. I'd love to play things like Vault of the Drow again. ( I know this is support, but there can't be much support happening atm)
That is both a quitter's attitude and proof you aren't shaking hard enough smh
this is not a judgement; did they not test the update on a seperate server days prior? I know that's what we always did when we had a major update to push out.
In my experience threats of violence against the server are good for morale at least, if nothing else 🙂
At this point the poor devs have been at it for almost five hours. I'm sure they're just as eager to be done as we are.
You can still put it in #ddb-feedback and we give that along :)
I LOVED the Amber Tower, I still have an original copy!
I'd guess they're both updating for new content and to anticipate a large surge in concurrent users and access requests.
If they don't do #2 the site would get overloaded and be inaccessible anyways
In my experience, blood sacrifice sometimes works, but that might just be satellite stuff
Unexpected things can happn
No update survives contact with the live environment and deploy smoothly
I WISH the server goes online now ? What happened ? Let me know 😄
That is an uncomfortable fact about digital releases
will there ever be an update, making homebrewing more intuitive?
Not something anyone in here can answer to be honest. But the Devs know that people want improvements to the homebrew tools and you can always put your feedback into #ddb-feedback
I have heard screaming four letter words at the server works best
I wish we could homebrew base classes... this would be very great for the community to use their platform fully customizable :_
Wish granted, Earth-67 now has spontaneous access, however the bug people who have access to the internet only participate in knitting forums
Earth prime DDB is still down
Yeah, still waiting on that Features update...
or eldritch invocations, artificer infusions, battle master maneuvers, and more
You are making me sad... I really don't understand why they didn't make it so Eldritch Invocations are Feats, like they've done with Fighting Styles...
With so many things being based on the proficiency bonus number moving forward, any word on if that's getting integrated into the homebrew builder as well?
Probably because invocations apply only to a single class, while fighting styles apply to several.
When does the maintenance end?
There were already quite a few things based on PB. Do you have a specific example?
No specific time has been announced.
we dont know, its delayed
#dnd-announcements has all the latest information.
only thing i can suggest in future if you have a session planned on a planned maintanence day, download your character sheets before hand :p
I'd like a way for homebrew resources to calculable to prof bonus plus a stat mod, or even better a way to do 2x prof bonus + ability mod
As of right now you can only choose one way or the other
To calculate it for what specifically? Number of uses?
Personally I'm looking to build items/weapons where the charges scale with proficiency bonus. In some cases the attack/damage bonus as well.
Yee
Are there any official features that work that way?
Or that way?
Maybe?
I know twice proficiency modifier is a stat resource for a lot, I'd like a way to be that plus a stat mod
idk about 2x prof bonus + ability mod
OOOH like a scalable weapon?
That sounds awesome
the shifter race has 2x proficiency bonus in temp hp as a calculation?
I know third party publishers have done it, but I believe there's some things in 2024 that do.
When will the site be back up?
as far as damage bonus with pb bonus goes i believe hexblade does that
no one knows
Absolutely. Gives that scalability and feeling of "powering up" for players as they progress.
They will post in #dnd-announcements when it is back up
i do, it's in twenty three minutes, trust
If we have an update we will post it here and in #dnd-announcements
im keeping you to that
Until then, please be patient.
john wotc told me himself trust
All i can do is entertain people till the update is concluded^^'
Each time people ask when the site will be, another parallel universe is created where the answer is that site is up now. To make things worse, your parallel universe self gets to enjoy it while you have to wait 😭
That's cruel haha
typing from a parallel universe where it came back at noon rn
they changed the font to comic sans in this update
Perfect - we're spreading happiness to others without cost to ourselves.
When's the site back up?
Don't let that devolve into a spam fest please
They're changing the website to PathfinderBeyond now, sorry guys, you asked about it too much
NOOOOOOOOOO
Am I allowed to at least keep a counter of how many parallel worlds we've birthed? 😇
the (extra) nerdy part of my brain wants to hear about whats going wrong or holding it back just as much as i want it to be back up
It's actually being changed to D&D Behind, and will now solely be compatible with 3.5
You can keep track but please not in channel xD
You mean, backwards compatible
john wotc told me that too they lost count of sneak attacks level scaling
they have to find it again before the site comes back
Deal. I'm going to count so good in my head, y'all won't even be able to believe it
Nah, 3.5 only
I demand perpendicular compatibility
youre making this entertaining, thank you :p
I mean, 3.5 would be a much better system if it had a dnd beyond to support it!
does the life cleric get wish at level 20 in 3.5
if ilmater cant cast disintegrate through me whats the point
MMmm I think level 22?
Depends, have we reached D&D infinity in this timeline yet? Don't want to spoil things
Getting way off topic here. Let's rein it in a little. 😅
It's the default maintnenance splash page
You're welcome to discuss 3.5 in #dnd-elder-editions.
I can't wait to read the changelog, nothing I love more than seeing what new things get added
Just want to make sure people looking for genuine updates can find them.
dad said he'll turn the car around if we don't behave 😨
Better hope it's not a Fromsoft-style change log.
"Changed some things. Adjusted some stuff. Fixed a few bugs. End Patch Notes."
I hear you on that, but there isn't a genuine update
speaking of changes do we know how spells are supposed to be formatted in the character builder now
will there be like. "Spirit Guardians 2014" and "Spirit Guardians 2024" or will it be like you choose a setting between 2014 and 2024 spells in the builder or?
What do you mean by that?
Old content wioll be tagged (Legacy), i.e. the same as old species are now.
ohh so itll be the legacy setting probably?
makes sense
Think they mean there hasn't been an update sinve an hour ago
following that, will it be an option to disable legacy spells specifically or or will it be all legacy?
They announced exactly that a couple-odd weeks ago
An hour and 40 till my cos, praying to the Dark Powers as we speak
raven queen save me save me raven queen save me save me
The only update we have gotten is "idk, it'll be up at some point". No hate here, that's probably all they know but like that's not an update.
Don't do that, they're Dark powers, they keep things dark. we want the lights back on, remember?
But its DDB dark mode
will there be options to disable or enable specific legacy things or will it all be grouped into one legacy button?
There's exactly one Legacy toggle, which would include legacy everything.
It's actually Goblins since they did not make it into the 2024 PHB
Nah most likely Nilbogs
Ain't nobody gets to complain about not making the 5.24 PHB more than artificer does. Us poor tinkergirls get to be The Forgotten Class once again. Bleh
oh no, im not ready to be a vegetal
ohh thats a shame but fair
Was artificer part of the 2014 book to begin with tho
You can still play them normaly
Nilbog is goblin backwards! 😱
Nope
Just as Alucard is Dracula backwards!
Just as racecar is racecar spelled backwards.
wait WHAT 🤯
Nope
"a man a plan a canal panama"
Came with Rising from the last War
spell that backwards
just be an arcana cleric its like if artificer got two wishes
Yes, but we saw what not being a core class got them in 5.14. Essentially zero support and expansion beyond the book they came in - only Tasha's gave artificers anything at all, and even then only grudgingly. WotC's requirement that no book interact with/touch any other book beyond the Core 3 means the artificer - and any other non-core class - gets to exist in one book, once, and then never again. it really sucks and I've hated it since figuring out it's why artificers are basically ignored by all new resources.
nilbogs, who are capricious fey spirits that possess goblins, foment chaos in goblinoid society, and use their magic to drive others to do the opposite of what they desire
Soooo RLW 2024 next ^^
I'm not familiar with that reference
Maybe, Ebberon is a fan made setting....might be a year or two before it comes to 5.5e
Anyway, they have hinted at future plans for artificer.
someone can correct me if im wrong but i believe crawford said artificer is getting an update in a later book? i think?
oh was it a hint
maybe it was just a hint
When or where those plans appear remains to be seen.
there may also be some licensing or legal issues considering how the eberron world came to be and they just take time
To be fair, they do not mesh that well with all settings, so I can understand why they might not want to make it core
also yea that
Nah flavor is free
yay someone else understood 😌
artificer is kind of almost a homebrew class like blood hunter but a little more licensed
but its not part of OGL
You can make any artificer fit any setting with clever enough flavoring
Yeah
Artificers are no less setting agnostic than warlocks. "I make cool stuff" is not a FutureTech exclusive phenomenon
true yes artificers can be very setting neutral, people unconvinced can see the really good ginny di video about that
but theyre not in the core rulebooks cause they arent part of ogl
licensing issue, not really a flavor issue
^^^^^
Gotcha
Keep an eye out on #dnd-announcements. We will share any updates there
and here
I'll just put on some music and vibe till they are done. Digital releases of updates never go the way devs intend so just waiting and having patience is the best one can do in such situations.
Rangers and monks would take the one book of solid content Artificers got 10x over. 2014 Artificer is still a more complete and better class than 2024 ranger
what is your music of choice for the dndbeyond waiting room anoth true strike enjoyer
me personally im halloweening it up
I specifically didn't plan a session for today so I'm happy to wait
Yes but Tasha-compliant 5.14 Ranger is quietly one of the best classes in 5.14. The over-reliance on Hunter's Mark in 5.24 sucks, but the 5.14 version is legitimately excellent.
I am recently listening to japan fusion music of Shamisen and Heavy Metal
hell yeah
Has the exact energy I like in music and Shamisen music just sounds amazing
There honestly isn't a over reliance on HM once you take a look at the new rules and the Ranger as a whole. HM is your day to day spell when you DON'T want to run anything else so having some features that make it better is actually a bonus. Not to mention it being a free cast gives it a lot more versatility now with the new spellcasting rules.
Do you guys have an estimate on how many hours the site will be down for?
Artificer just really needs to appear in a non-ebberron and probably medieval focused setting to not be the Ebberron-only class
Is the dnd beyond app back up on iOS
Reference here
Ok
Somewhere between 1 hour and 7000 hours.
So I can't do any D&D 2014 Until then
Yes, it is similar to any other planned site downtime
or unplanned for that matter
I was joking, I am not affiliated with them. We don't have any info on how long the site is down for. Last time it was asked we were instructed to watch the announcements channel. That said, no you cannot use dnd beyond tools to play right now.
There is always Pen & Paper to fall back to 😎
It's what I have access to I don't have lots of money
Yeah but my hand cramps up something awful after writing now 🤣
It still doesn't really feel great to have three or four of your class features simply disappear when you decide you're not going to use Hunter's Mark in a given encounter. It's not class-ruining by any means, but the over-reliance definitely feels off in a class intended to be versatile and not necessarily reliant on magic for everything.
Plus let's face it, the level 20 capstone for 5.24 Ranger is just...ungood. Heh.
Also VTTs.
I miss 3.5e ranger
Keep it civil, folks.
Report and blocked
Most features that went away became redundant now that every spellcaster can cast ritual spells.
Ghaaaaah I really hope it gets finished by 8pm
it will be 8 pm somewhere when it is finished.
i've played a couple 5.14 rangers recently and really I think it still lags behind all other classes besides maybe monk. except horizon walker, which actually is EXTREMELY effective if used well.
I just want to make characters I have 2 planned out. Can't do that until the ddb comes back up
It's probably best that it is up later. I have a lot of work to do and if it's available before 5pm ET I definitely see that being impacted....
Once we know more we will announce it in #dnd-announcements and in this channel. Until then, please have patience.
now, i've looked very little at 5.24 ranger but it honestly looks even weaker than 5.14 at first glance. haven't had a chance to play check
Yeah, also, it can make the class feel kinda stagnant if a "core class cantrip" isn't ever modified/enhanced in a mechanically interesting way. For example, eldritch blast being modified by invocations to do interestesting things besides a +1 bomus or advantage
That's partially true, though I'd argue that the strong and consistent push for a DDB-usable Spell-Less Ranger for the last quitre-a-few years shows there's a heavy desire for a Ranger class that's less focused around being a primal equivalent to the Paladin and more of a canny, woods-wise survivalist able to hunt, track, fight, and thrive without their spells if they have to.
I do hope the website is up for the majority of users sooner than later
Hopefully around or before <t:1725399000:f>
Ritual casting provides that though. You can always flavor the casting of the spell as doing something else that isn't necessarily just "I cast spell".
I'm sure that's a statement everyone agrees with, including those working on the maintenance.
Perhaps especially those people working on the systems.
Yeah, hear that. Have a session tonight at 830 ET and I didn't make a .pdf of my character
Mechanically you're still casting a spell however, which includes all the foibles of spellcasting. Ritual casting is still turned off in null/low magic zones and still requires spell components, plus a ranger suffering some sort of anti-spellcasting malady can't use their ritual-cast survivalist stuff. Sure, that's a rare edge case and a DM can work around it, but by RAW the ranger is largely stuck being a spellcaster. Not necessarily a bad one, simply not what a significant portion of the playerbase was hoping for from the class.
we are having one right now and we are trying to remember all the stats lmao
I work in software engineering, I'm sure it's a stressful day for a lot of people. But I'm always in favor of getting it right instead of rushing. And, giving people breaks.
Also regarding 2014 or the old 5th edition will it still be available for us who don't want to switch or have the money to switch
Yes
Yes.
The 2014 rules won't go anywhere
Yes it will be available
The 5.14 rules are going to be MORE present than DDB was originally planning on, due to backlash against planned spell/magic item updates.
5e will still exist, but the "backwards compatibility" they talked about isn't really as "backwards compatible" as they said it would be imo
Completely untrue.
They said the adventures would be, not the whole game
Are the announces here https://discord.com/channels/516367331358801950/1027276669846818907 only for this server or also shared for others who follow this channel ?
it's still there but it seems like it's gonna be much more of a headache than it should be
"Backwards compatible" always meant that old adventures could still be run with new characters and rules. The interaction points between the new books and the old content were left largely untouched.
Anything in our announcement channels gets broadcast to any servers following those channels.
"I don't know" is a valid answer vs. spreading misinformation.
an opinion is not misinformation
Literally everything that wasn't updated works with the new stuff just fine. The only thing that needs even a slight wording tweak is Shepherd Druid.
I don't really understand this debate. The games are run by individuals who have the ability to choose how the rules are followe and what changes to use. It's not like a video game wher the new version overwrites the code.
It is when presented as fact
Some folks are not comfortable or confident in making off-the-cuff rulings. They run the games the way the books tell them to, and if the books create conflicts they get confused and stressed.
That's up to the DM though
please point to where i said it's factually incompatible. so far the only i see is a mesage that says "in my opinion"
I just wish artificer would be in a updated book soon
I'm entitled to my opinion (or I have a right to my opinion) is an informal fallacy in which someone dismisses arguments against their position based on the percevied unassailable right to voice information, no matter how incorrect it may be.
oh i mean if youre mixing and matching stuff cherry picking between the two books youre gunna have some insane broken stuff haha
old shocking grasp is debilitating for 2024 legendary bosses, for example
Cool it, folks.
I'm sure every single person who plays has at least one rule in their game that does not follow the DMG or PHB to the letter
Don't make us summon the modrons
(But I like summoning the modrons. 😢)
Not the modrons 😭
My question would more so be towards how backwards compatibility will be scaled without the new monster manual. For example are the updates going to make what were difficult encounters underwhelming or will they remain mostly the same?
Gonna get slammed by a marut if we keep going
Technically, this is against the new rules. If you're using the 2024 books, they explicitly state that anything which does have an updated version in the new books replaces its older version. i.e. a 5.24 game only has one version of Shocking Grasp, not two.
average clockwork sorcerer in 2024
Will the mobile DDB app require a version update when the new systems are live, or will it just be in-app content updates?
That's a great question
Unknown!
New 5.24 characters aren't really any more powerful than the top end of 5.14 characters. Mostly 5.24 pulled the bottom up rather than pushing the top further.
my group was supposed to be playing already. kinda hard to do that without a sheet.
yeah but the way some people are talking in here i get the feeling thats going to be ignored 😆 until DMs realize some broken interactions
this is more of what I'm trying to say. A lot of the new rules don't work super well with other old rules. Part of it's because there's a lot more source rules that haven't gotten replaced that don't work as well with the ones that do get replaced. It's just seems like more of a dm hassle to try to balance some things
Ever thus has D&D been. Freedom to play any way you imagine is also freedom to play in ways that break core game assumptions. Heh, people will learn and course correct, and/or otherwise figure it out.
Whos been doing wild magic in the server room again?
One member in my group is trying to figure out how to break already
I'm pretty sure WoTC doesn't have secret police running around, ready to pull your gaming license if you don't follow every rule to the letter... but I might be wrong
dropped all my scrolls, sorry
one day wotc will fix temple of the gods and until they do its a ritual and takes ten minute to cast damn it
my grievance about the backwards compatibility isn't a scathing remark about the new system nor do I think there's many ways to avoid it. It just creates more of the fine-tuning process we already do. Nothing wrong with it, I'm just not as much of a fan
You're free to wait until the remaining two core books come out to implement 5.24 rules. However, unfortunately this is going to be a recurring issue throughout the rest of the edition. DMs are going to have to find a way to rule on this issue one way or another. I'm certain there will be (or more likely already is) plentiful community content offering guidance so DMs can rule on this issue with a bonus d4.
Who already has new book
two hours later
I might have it... when the website comes back up
Was wondering if Tasha worthless now
Tasha's is still as usefull as it was before
Not at all. It's 5.14 content still perfectly compatible with 5.14 rules, and the new book offers guidance on using old subs with the new base class frameworks. Might require some jimmying, but you can make it work
most of tashas spell stuff is in the new phb but optional rules from xanathar/tashas still are available, e.g. divine strike and harness divine power on cleric
Look, I'm bored at work and I thought I'd be making new sheets and reading new books by now q_q

I have the physical book I just love artificer
Also if people want to discuss the new rules until the maintenance is done you can always head to #1252622903669686342
its up
ITS UP
Site loaded 🙂
LET'S GO
OH SNAPPLE
It's up, but it's saying I haven't purchased the content (I have, all 3 digital+phys)
I found it in library (all sources)
LETS GO
Make sure your entitlements are in sync and that you have a Master Tier subscription. The Early Access today is only aviable if you have one
Got master sub
i can only see 4 classes in character creator on new one
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/licenses head here and make sure your entitlements are in sync
Same here
The D&D Free Rules preview available today has only those four classes. The rest will be coming on the 17th.
Only four races too
Beyond is online but not the App
If you've preordered the PHB and have a Master Tier subscription, you should have access to all classes today. You may need to check whether your entitlements are in sync:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/licenses
I had the same problem. Syncing my entitlements worked to fix it
Thanks! That fixed it 😄
Wonder if it's because I am outside the us?
Thanks got it
Is the site back up I don't see an announcement for it but I am on the website?
Wish I had the ~$190 to get the full preorder rn 😭
Thanks that fixed it
I have PHB 2024 in my account but theres no non-legacy paladin, is this a common issue right now or do i need to do something?
YOu are probably refreshing the maintence page. Try dndbeyond.com
No I'm talking about a announcement on discord
account>licenses>sync entitlements worked for me
Got ya, probably doing it slowly so site doesn't get hammered at once
Try checking here to see if your account entitlements are in sync.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/licenses
Did you purchase directly on D&D Beyond, or through dndstore.wizards.com?
The basic rules will forever only have those 4 classes?
So how do I get in touch with someone about my problem? I purchased everything on July 11. My credit card has the purchase on the statement. I have an email recept from WotC, yet it doesn't show up in my purchase history on ddb site, and claims I don't own
It is up. Not seeing the 2024 PHB in-app though, just on the website.
How do we Master Tier subscribers access the new book?
Did you purchase directly on D&D Beyond, or through dndstore.wizards.com?
Because I'm outside the US (canada), it made me purchase through wizards store
this fixed it for me actually but not my player who i have it shared with
xD
Then you should have received an email at the time of purchase with a redemption code.
You'll need to redeem that code before it will show up on your D&D Beyond account.
thanks, I look into that
Thanks for your patience everyone! Go forth and enjoy!
Was going to ask how to choose legacy spells vs. new wording/versions, but it appears if you select a 2024 class, you're limited to the new versions--whereas legacy classes have access to both versions of the spell. ... I'm okay with that! 😄
Where is the rest of my classes?
Yeah, character builder only has Free options. 😦
Are third party subclasses not compatible with the 2024 core classes?
Character portraits and monster images keep vanishing.
Old backgrounds should allow for an Origin Feat and Ability Score selection, no?
Example of character portraits.
Can confirm... Canada still cannot purchase anything in the marketplace...
Just reporting that the only spell that appears on the Arcane Trickster is Mage Hand and I can't add any other list
it seems the fighter does not get the extra attacks for some odd reason
is there a way to "switch" current characters from 2014 rules to 2024 rules seamlessly? and if needed, switch back from 2024 to 2014?
I can't use any of tasha's optional class features right now on a 2024 bard. is that intentional or is this some compatibility issue that is being addressed?
this is likely due to you only seeing the Free Core Rules instead of the PHB 2024 Rules, you need to sync your entitlements and refresh
It's like the full update hasn't rolled out yet - lots of missing options (yes, even though only PHB out) everywhere. Maybe better in a few hours?
How do we do this?
Did already and is only an issue with the AT so far
That just fixed my issue.
Me too. Seems like EVERYONE needs to sync their entitlements again
I preordered the digital and physical bundle, but I don't see the preorder bonuses like the gold dice, or the art book as part of the licenses. Is this normal?
does sharing content not let other players use the new book?
We are unable to select Cleric Spells as Divine Soul Sorcerer
nvm everyone needs to sync
Are spells supposed to delete themselves when you go down a level? I wanted to make sure everything worked on my character sheet, and it doesn't seem like spells are deleting when going down from level 6 to 5
https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/30066910
Could someone check if this is the appropriate amount of spells?
I don't believe those have been released yet.
Doesn't look like it. While a lot of Expanded sublcasses are available for 2024, third-party stuff (including the new Grim Hollow they just started selling) doesn't appear to be. I hope they update the third-party stuff to work with it. Otherwise... oof. What a waste of a purchase.
i dont think the spells get deleted. the sheet does not track the them as you can get more from other sources.
I mean, this has been live for 15 minutes. There will likely be some kinks for a bit
Right. I just hope I haven't bugged up my character sheet by going back and forth between level 5 and 6
Will content sharing work for the 2024 phb?
I'm assuming so, but my players are still showing the core
when do we start seeing 2024 veriosn on ddb? im in europe.
Its up now
just checked my account and could only see 4 classes from core 😦
anyone else have that issue
wierd, cus i have redeemed the code and it dont show
seems a lot of people have bene resyncing their entitlements and that has helped out
account -> Licenses -> sync
so, um, i'm a master tier subscriber and i pre-ordered the bundle, so we were supposed the dndb version of the phb and it's not there.
this works if you dont see content
I preordered the digital and physical together in the UK. And I have no access to the digital even know it’s says i open it in the marketplace and i have synced
This should be what you see once you refresh
Are oath abilities support to be "at will" now? I feel like this must be a bug? At will lvl 1-5 spells without a spell slot cost?
At the top of that page you should see "Account Entitlements" make sure it says they are synced
Yours should have a lil button here
Hello, why can't I choose 2024 rules when making character? I bought the 2024 PHB
Read the messages just before yours
Uh-oh. The artificer doesn't have access to the new versions of the spells.
full refreshes may also help CTRL+F5 , not just F5
when i try and make a character its 2024 version but it dont show up in my sources, i guess its a bug thet fix in time
some of this may also be just weird interweb propogation and local cache things... and some time will help with that
Can the DM not put character building restrictions on campaigns?
Thank you
If you don't have it log out of DDB and log back in, thats worked for my other players
Sorry to sound impatient. could someone check? Also after playing around with the spells there is a 1st level spell in the 3rd level slot. Is everything how it's supposed to be here? I am aware that you can have lower level spells in higher spell slots
no, this has never been oan option
Is there a way to add non sorc spells to a divine soul sorc at the moment?
I believe you would have to use homebrew
syncing fixed my issue as well. didn't know I needed to do that thanks
Upon closer inspection color spray seems to be in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd slots
Looks like 3rd Party and Homebrew subclasses aren't appearing for the new classes. I assume this will be updated?
most first level spells can be cast at higher levels, so makes sense.
Ok. In all lower spell slots?
When will the new rules show in content sharing?
yes, you can cast any first level spell using a higher level spell slot. the spells will also state what happens (if anything) when cast at higher levels. like color spray gets an additional 2d10 for each level cast above 1st level.
Got it thanks. I'm a little worried I've messed things up by going back and forth between level 5 and 6, multiple times, especially so soon after this big update
im sure you are fine.
You should be able to see it now if its being shared with you. You can try to sync your entitlements here to see if that fixes it for you.
So, is there any reason Bard has been removed from character creation, if I turn off legacy?
(Apologies for the picture of a screen. It’s what I can do right now)
Ayy that worked, at least on the website
custom backgrounds are not any giving ability score increases
Also one of our players can’t choose Common Sign Language
Thanks
Hang on, it seems Burning hands as a racial spell is present in the level one slot, but not the other slots?
The custom backgrounds can take up to 15 mins to show on sheets
I'm having issues with the Character Builder and the new rules, it seems.
This is all that's showing up for me, when I filter the options from the 2024 PHB. Everything is synced up, and I have logged out, cleared my cache and logged back in... still not working.
Does anyone know why my Goliath Fighter battlemaster has advantage on all his skills?
if you dont have access to the PHB24, you only get updated cleric, fighter, rogue, and wizard **for now **
But I do
because you're awesome! lol
lol
I can access the 2024 PHB just fine
Do you have a Master Teir Sub? Or are you making this character in a campaign that has it shared with you?
have you checked account entitlements?
I have Master Tier and I got the digital book pre-ordered more than a month ago.
assuming for fire genasi. it is because it is limited by that "reach to blaze ability" and the way it is coded on dndbeyond and how the initial one time use doesnt use a spell slot. "Once you cast burning hands or flame blade with this trait, you can’t cast that spell with it again until you finish a long rest. You can also cast either of those spells using any spell slots you have of the appropriate level." so it is initially going to use that one time usage per long rest, but you can burn spell slots to cast it if you have them available.
also more of a rule question then dndbeyond support.
i don't know if anyone else has noticed that the subclass features under game rules don't have the level prerequisites. but if you have the book and access it through the library the prerequisites can be found there
Uncertain how but it says the 2024 PHB is in my library
Account > Licences
Yes, this is for Fire Genasi. The thing is I'm only seeing it in the level one slot? Should it be in level 2 as well?
Account Entitlements can be checked here
Honestly anyone missing anything they expect to see, should check https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/licenses first
Okay, but what am I looking for?
Uh-oh. The artificer can't pick the 2024 spells.
Okay, click “sync entitlements” got it
no- because of the racial ability aspect of it and how it doesnt technically use spell slots if you use it for the one time per long rest rule it has on there. you can technically cast it at higher levels if you have the spell slots to burn tho.
again, more of a #dnd-rules question and not dndbeyond support
There should be a Heading called "Account Entitlements" at the top of that page. Make sure it say "Your entitlements data is in sync! You should have nothing to worry about, but contact our Support Team if you're having problems accessing your purchased content."
If it doesn't say that click Sync entitlements.
I am having this same issue, the licenses page indicates that I have access to the 2024 Player's Handbook (Pre-order) Early Release Sept 03. Entitlements in sync.
Got it. Thanks
That’s frustrating
when i check whats shared in my campain the 2024 phb shows up, but the players can only pick 4 classes
Your players need to check if their entitlements are in sync
If it says your entitlements are in sync then you need to contact DnD Beyond Support.
?tag ddb support
D&D Beyond customer support can be contacted at the link below. Requests are answered in the order they're received. Submitting multiple requests for the same issue can result in a delayed response.
http://dndbeyond.link/SubmitTicket
Anyone know why I can’t use a visa debt gift card to buy the digital phisical bundle of the PHB?
Im praying for this too
Are you selecting the basic rules or the 2024 phb?
Go here and click “sync entitlements”
If anyone finds away to convert the 2014 custom subclasses to the new 2024 PHB, let me know so i dont have to rebuild it lol
mine is in sync
Whelp
Contact the support team at the link Dyno posted
is there a way to "switch" current characters from 2014 rules to 2024 rules seamlessly? and if needed, switch back from 2024 to 2014?
I'm having an issue with a ton of missing images. This was happening before the updates today but I was hoping the maintenance would clean things up. Here are some examples.
try clearing your cache/cookies
Is it right, that fey touched 2024 places the chosen spells as „at will“ casts in dnd beyond? Has to be an oversight.
Lessons of the first ones invocation doesnt let you select the origin feat you want
that helped with the one that tested
thnx to all that help here you guys are awesome
homebrew sublasses are not available to 2024 version of classes.... they still work on the 2014 versions
Looks like I can't make an artificer at all anymore
Do you have Expanded Rules enabled for that character?
Did you purchase artificer yourself, or is it being shared with you through a campaign?
No 🎲 🎲
That doesn't surprise me, since it looks like the new ones are functionally set up as separate classes.
Sorry, you're right. had to do it in my campaign. So the only problem then is the Artificer seems to only be able to see legacy spells
So, I don't know how big of an issue this is. But today all of the custom portraits on my character sheets vanished. Leaving not even a the blank silhouette ...
Bard starting gold dropdown is set at “nulldnull”
This is for all classes
yup. going in the homebrew creator forks on new vs. old classes. looks like I need to recreate the subclass I want to use
is it intentional that the 2024 early access materials cant be shared with players
That's a known issue.
my player can claim is 2024 barbarian character
They should be shared. Have your players sync their entitlements https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/licenses
It should be, you just might need to turn campaign sharing off and on. That worked for my players.
For starting gold or equipment, select the Equipment option. Both will be under there. The team has noted the other option and will improve that UX
I don't have the | Ratings that tutorial references.
Is it intentional that options from the core rules are not duplicated for the 2024 PHB? Elf, Dwarf, Halfling and Human, are only shown if the core rules are selected?
i tried 🙂 might have to make a ticket with dndbeyond
Welcome to the Support Thread for Player’s Handbook!
If you find any issues with the content from the sourcebook, or using it on a D&D Beyond character,...
ACTIVE CHARACTER EFFECTS
We now support Active Character Effects - or an effect that triggers effects for a period of time. Here’s an example of it, using Rage:
👀
Just as a note - you’ll note that many subclasses that have been published by our various Partners do not appear for the 2024 classes. We’re working with them to update their content for the new rules, but do not have an ETA for those releases.
Guys i have master tier/bought the new ph.... where can I open it?
thanks!~
oh wow, thats a pretty long list of unsupported features...
War caster 2024 feat is not available for selection on the character builder for Wizard (2024). I have the PHB and master tier + synced features (can see all classes, read the book etc). Anything else I can try or that's just a bug?
it seems that some feats that have prerequisites aren't showing up unless you turn off feat prerequisities in the builder
The PHB24 warlock isn't showing any pact of the chain or pact of the tome evocations the only evocation tied to a pact that's showing up is thirsting blade
That worked thanks...still building lvl10 wizard was quite unexpected
Character builder no longer lists non-2024 Draconic Ancestry. Can't pick Gem, Metalic, Draconblood, or Ravenite
Account is synced and all legacy content is enabled.
Doesn't matter if picking the 2024 or 2014 version of Dragonborn. Missing in both.
Wasn't the plan always that the 2014 subclasses could be used as-is with the 2024 classes? Edit: Sorry, forgot to remove the ping.
was able to replicate this problem, seems like prereqs are buggy today
So just wait
Ig
I can't either
have you checked the other listings? they're all sorted separately now, for me at least
You have to have expanded rules, legacy and critical role toggles on on the character builders home screen to see all the dragonborn options
What level is your wizard? many of the new feats now have a level requirement
Ahh. I see. Cake had the correct answer.
And I guess the Fizban subspecies aren't available with the 2024 version.
level 10, I was able to see a lot of the other feats. Issue was fixed by removing the prerequisite check. For now that's OK and I guess bug will be fixed soon
Now that the 2024 PHB is officially available, where can PDF's of the new character sheet be found? Will they be added to this article? https://www.dndbeyond.com/resources/1779-d-d-character-sheets
I'll repeat. I sent some feedback and such for the artificer and pre-2024 feats not having access to the 2024 spells. Can that be fixed?
Am in ph 2024 , Whats going on?XD
The PHB24 sorcerer subclass spells arent added. Like PHB24 Clockwork sorcerer dont get the clockwork spell list added.
Never mind, found the character sheet here: https://media.dndbeyond.com/compendium-images/phb/downloads/DnD_2024_Character-Sheet.pdf
Why is Lance of Lethargy totally unavailable
Is that intentional? Was it removed in the new rules?
Will the process for updating Partnered Content subclasses also apply to homebrew subclasses as well? If not, can there be a one-click "copy to 2024 class" feature on our end via the homebrew tool?
I have added a lot of homebrew content recently under the assumption that it would carry over to the new classes, as everything is compatible. If it can't seamlessly port over, I'd love the option to copy/convert the ones I made manually, at least (without having to rebuild all of them).
Hey I was just wondering if I have to go and add the new classes to every homebrew spell ive done so they can be used with 2024 rules?
oh wow, just saw this
Currently 2024 pulldown on species does not pull the species from the Free Rules. So the drop down produces Aasimar, Dragonborn, Gnome, Goliath Orc Tiefling: Does not show Dwarf Elf Human Halfling.
it's available if you select 2014 warlock in the character builder instead of the new warlock, at least for me
When creating a Paladin, it's not possible to select a Fighting Style feat. I have to manually add it.
So the grimhallow classes r just gone now?
No, they just haven't been updated to 2024 yet. It's discussed in the pinned changelog.
Can’t access content I paid for lmfao
they're linked in the free rules
I'm stumped on how to add magical secrets spells to a bard now with the 2024 rules. Trying to give myself counterspell. There's no way I can find to add it.
so if we want to use a 2014 subclass that wasn't replaced in the new PHB 2024 printing, we have to homebrew the new version of that subclass ourselves following the guidance that Crawford lays out in almost ten youtube videos?
replicated issue. I would not be surprised if opening up the bard's spell list to include the others' but only at a certain level is beyond the current capabilities of DDB
You can use the 2014 subclasses on 2024 classes
another way than as I described? I'm lost as to how in the character builder.. and the character builder has the text from my screen shot above
Just calling attention to this to see if I can get an answer on it. I understand things are hectic today to say the least.
If you have Legacy and expanded rules enabled in your character builder, you can just select a 2014 subclass on a 2024 Class character when you hit level 3. You do not need to homebrew that functionality.
This is allowed via the rules, but it seems like there are some issues with this in the character creator, currently
The text in that screenshot is referring to multiclassing.
E.G. a character who is both a 2024 bard and a 2014 sorcerer.
I already used it like i described above your comment to update my Drakewarden Ranger to 2024
Your screenshot has nothing to do with subclasses.
I am trying to level a bard up to level 3 and college of dance isn't showing up in my college list....I have the book and the master tier subscription.....any ideas?
Are your entitlements in sync?
How do I check?
Even with all character preferences enabled, I am severely limited in what subclasses I am able to select from. I cannot, for example, choose a subclass from the 2014 PHB that did not get updated, like Arcane Archer, nor can I choose partnered content like Echo Knight
Hey Im sorry if this question has been asked a million times, but I cant find the 2024 phb stuff in my character builder, I only have access to the digital book... was wondering if this is intended or its a bug
in this example, would it adapt the 2014 legacy multiclass to be in design with the 2024 rollout, as Crawford described how to adapt legacy content not replaced in the videos he did on youtube? or does it stay as published in 2014?
This is what my options look like when choosing a subclass for a 2014 fighter, for reference
Hey uhh how do I post a thing in I’m looking for dm?
No. The message in your screenshot explicitly says it’s not an intended combination.
DDB doesn’t stop you, but you’re on your own.
Anybody else not seeing phantom as a rogue subclass when choosing the 2024 rogue? Is that a bug? I own tasha's so that's not an issue.
sync your entitlements to get access to the new PHB classes for a 2024 character, assuming you bought it and have a master tier sub.
partnered stuff is currently not available for 2024 characters
how do I sync entitlements?
thx
Morning! I might be the only one, but I can acces my pre-ordered handbook in DDB online, but not in the app. It's not showing up on my phone or tablet app. Anyone else have this issue?
I am using the free basic rules currently. I did not purchase the PHB early
is warcaster missing for you guys also?
So I see the licenses, I don't see an option to sync
thanks cake boss u rlly are the boss
There is an app update needed. Make sure you update the app.
yeah my app updated late last night
I would imagine that the free new rules are somewhat limited , maybe forever or just in Early Access
I did that and got the free book, but no 2024 Player Hndbook.
and i was able to download new stuff as well as bunch of other updates within it
They are limited in early access, on the 17th it will show more options.
When the 2024 Player’s Handbook sees its wide release on September 17, we’ll do a full release of the 2024 D&D Free Rules. This will include the remaining base classes—Barbarian, Bard, Druid, Monk, Paladin, Ranger, Sorcerer, and Warlock—as well as one subclass for each class. The full release will also contain more spells and feats.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/posts/1804-start-playing-today-with-the-2024-d-d-free-rules
The only thing that I can't see in the update is te 2024 Handbook, but I can on the website. I have the master teir subscription which is a bit confusing as I get access today
Did you purchase the 2024 PHB?
Yes I did. It shows on the web browser, but not in the app
yeah, currently you gotta turn off feat prereqs to see the new War Caster feat
Check that entitlements are in sync in your account.
Will do.Thanks for the suggestion
Was just using new content in the character builder and suddenly some of the new versions of classses have disappeared as options. I only have 4 to choose from now under core rules (cleric, fighter, rogue, and wizard)…. Help…
Love that the new rule books are available for those that pre ordered! My only issue is I'm not seeing all of my options for my multi class build. I'm sure it's just a minor bug, I'm just bringing it to your attention.
You legend - problem solved!
How do you check entitlements?
Can someone at DDB do this for the community, or approve someone in AL to hombrew publish the 2024 adaptations of legacy classes/subclasses that weren't replaced? My understanding is that Crawford explained how to adapt the legacy content to be compatible with 2024s design multiple times in community youtube interviews, and a lot of AL players are expecting compatibility if they multiclass between 14 and 24 content..
I don't see them listed in my account settings
The 2024 Free Rules currently give Elf, Halfling, Dwarf and Human as Species. They give Fighter, Cleric, Rogue and Wizard as classes.
If you purchased the 2024 PHB and have a Master Tier Sub, you should get more options. Make sure to check that your entitlements are in sync.
My entitlements are fine and I can't see phantom rogue when choosing the 2024 rogue and I own tasha's.
Thank you!
You can ask in #al-admin-questions if you need specific guidance for AL.
alright, but you understand what I'm asking about yeah? It would help every DM help their players make the characters they want from all the compatible options..
Do you have a specific example of a combo you're trying to use and aren't able to?
I mean, the only thing you can't multiclass into right now is Artificer, and I'd think that's more of a bug/oversight. I doubt anyone expects to be able to do 2014 Warlock with 2024 Bard, for example.
And the old subclasses just slot right into the new classes just fine. You don't even have to do anything to make it work.
Why can't you multiclass artificer?
Oh, I saw people reporting they couldn't, I may be incorrect there.
@ruby spruce Check if your entitlements are in sync https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/licenses
Artificers can't pick 2024 spells, that's the current bug
while I sort of have your attention though, any word on my question from earlier about homebrew subclasses porting to 2024 classes?
Aha! Resyncing did the trick. Thanks, Anoth.
I have a lot of them and was expecting them to just work with the new classes like the official ones do. But if they needed reworking behind the scenes to work with them, I'd love a way to "port" my homebrew subclasses to 2024 classes without completely rebuilding them.
Seems like the new classes are set up as truly new -- i.e. separate -- classes. I'm not surprised existing homebrew doesn't work out-of-the box.
Hi all I pre-ordered the rulebooks and have a master tier sub but the new subclasses aren't showing up on my DDB character creation did anyone figure out how to fix this?
We can pass along feedback that people want an easy way to import previous subclasses to the new classes, though.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/licenses Make sure your entitlements are in sync
thank you! I'll just have to remake the ones people want to play for now
Not exactly that, I can see the builder can combine old with new, I just thought when Crawford talked about how a legacy content for character creation could be adapted to be in design with 2024's DMG on creating classes/subclasses that if a player started with a Core class- any multiclassing would adapt the legacy to be in design as Crawford described and as how the DMG will detail in the future..
Adapt it how?
like replacing subclasses for legacy options to be at lvl 3
That does happen when you use a legacy subclass in a 2024 class.
It does not happen if you're using a 2014 class.
Anyone struggling to roll on the character sheet since the update? No rolls are working (like, dice not showing or anything). Extensions have all been turned off
Works for me.
Do you have Hardware Acceleration enabled in your browser settings?
assuming you have made sure this is enabled in the character builder settings?
Is there a quick way to swap a character to the new version of a class? Or is a rebuild required?
Yup
You'd need to remove the old class and add the new one.
and then essentially rebuild everything within that class again?
Yup
Weirdly they're not working in Beyond, but are in Above. I don't understand this wizardry, but also not going to look that gift horse in the mouth
Okay then my question is if there's a combo of settings that lets the player still pick from legacy options but only through the core classes?
I get that
The situation I want to avoid is a confused player that goes 3 levels into new world tree barbarian, and then multiclasses into a 2014 twilight cleric by mistake, instead of into a core cleric and having to wait for the subclass.. Maybe the solution would be a strict 2024 build toggle along with the legacy toggle
So still making legacy available, but building by 2024 rules strictly
hmm...my deft explorer gives me the fighting style option, but no actual fighting styles to pick from
If you add a 2014 cleric to you character sheet, you choose your subclass at level one.
If you add a 2024 cleric to you character sheet, you choose your subclass at level three.
I believe there is a legacy toggle I thought somewhere in the character build on ddb.
This is true regardless of when the subclass you use was created or whether you multiclass.
I’m noticing that you can’t take the ASI feat more than once, despite it being repeatable
how add fighting style to 24 ranger? 🤔
Also noticing that if you build a level 20 character from scratch (I know that’s not technically how you’re supposed to do it but I digress), it lets you take boon feats for your lower level feats
or fighting style feat...doesnt give me any ption
Can’t imagine this would be a widespread issue but I can imagine it causing some confusion
Same thing for Skilled feat (those are the only repeatable feats I have access too atm but I’d imagine it applies to all repeatable feats)
i can't see all of the new update classes and stuff even though i've pre-ordered the 2024 PHB. i only see the base 4 (rogue, cleric, fighter, wiz)
Known issue
thank you. i did find where i can manage feats
Apologies if you're getting this question often today, but I joined a campaign with a master tier subscriber who bought the new player's handbook so I can read it, but can't get it to load in the character creator. What should I do?
(I am very tired after a convention so please talk to me that way.)
Is there a ETA for when master tier subscribers will gain access to the new PHB
You can try to make sure your entitlements are in sync. That can be done at this link https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/licenses
They already have it. You may need to sync entitlements. See above.
i can't see all of the new update classes and stuff even though i've pre-ordered the 2024 PHB. i only see the base 4 (rogue, cleric, fighter, wiz)
the website says 'Your entitlements data is in sync!'
did you buy the new PHB? It's early access, you don't get it for free (other than the sample "free rules" stuff)
I thought you got it for having master tier no?
nope, just early access today
No you get early access for having master tier
If you preordered the new PHB and have a Master Tier subscription, you gain access to it now.
I did that successfully 3 hours ago and just checked again, but it said it wasn't in sync 🤣 🙃
You still have to purchase the PHB, a subscription only allows you to get it earlier
yeah, that's my issue too
nvm i see what i did
I have access to all the options but it seems I cannot share those with my players through a campaign? Does that have to wait until the 17th?
When i click on "Potion of Healing" link in the new 2024 PHB (chapter 6 - Tools - Other Tools - Herbalism Kit) it says "This content is part of the Player Handbook (2024) digital content pack". It sends me to marketplace where it says that I own that content (of course)
It should share to your players. Have them sync their entitlements here
Thank you that fixed it
Anyone else experiencing a bug with War Caster(2024) not appearing for Sorcerers to choose at level 4?
Because thats the current bug I'm getting
Same problem with the spell scroll link (Chapter 6 - Adventuring Gear - Spell Scroll) hovering the mouse on its cost (and it has a unneeded ";" in the menu)
I've got the same problem. My subscription renewed automatically today but the website says it ends on the 3rd. The app says I'm on free tier. But I can access all my characters, campaigns etc. I'm really annoyed... I preordered too and can't access it even though my subscription is renewed and paid for...
And I did sync my acc already... Hope the support can fix this.
Anyone else have any ideas? Do I need to open a ticket with support?
Is there a timeline of when Avrae will be updated to the new rules?
I have a question about letting us to homebrew our own classes and not just subclasses but idk where to ask this in
echo knight can not be picked with new ruleset fighter, is this a bug?
Message in the spell list on ddb is wrong. Lists a Verbal component despite verbal components no longer being part of the 2024 version.
2024 bard is not letting me pick other spells via magical secrets
That’s a known issue.
Why I can not create character on 2024? i have master tier
I can't access to any of the PHB 2024 not free classes (when I click, it send me to the marketplace page to buy the book again), and can't see it in the character builder.
Is this a known issue?
Check to make sure your entitlements are in sync.
You can check here
You also only get access today if you are a master teir subscriber and you pre-ordered
Did you preorder the book? Are your account entitlements in sync?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/licenses
The DDB Character Editor is Broken, Most of The Things from The PHB 2024 dont work
Yep, i'm master tier and I buy the book one week ago, I can access to the book, but no to the content individually or in the character builder
Can't seem to use any of the new spells inside of artificer.
Artificer is dead and wont Work with Phb2024 in DnD Beyond
Thanks 👌
It was the sync, ty dude
May be a dumb question but I'm testing/creating new paladin class and selecting fighting style feat for level 2 feature does not give me options to pick. Anyone else have this? Is this a known issue? Or am I missing something? Lol
Can you be more specific? What’s one specific thing you’re having trouble with?
This is a known issue.
This is also a known issue.
Oh ok, thank you.
In case it hasn't been reported, cleric is displaying incorrect amount of prepared spells
Echo Knight is not 2024 content, it's Critical Role...won't work with the 2024 fighter
It works
So the core 2024 is out but we can buy the full book the 17th?
is there a running log of known issues that we can look at?
Alan Echo knight is working with The phb2024
@uneven lantern Hi the Bard cant make spell attacks with PHB 2024 spells
Have the tooltips changed when it comes to mentioning spells in the homebrew creator?
For already known issues please check out that link
@idle arch If you want to add a SUB Class witch isnt shown Up, you Must Homebrew a PHB 2024 SUB Class and The Change this SUB Class to another SUB Class
thats not true, its just bugged
Is the custom background option for a 24PHB character not working at the moment? It doesn't let you select an origin feat or ability score anywhere.
Anyone with a Master Tier subscription who has preordered the book can access it early starting today.
Hero Tier can do the same on Sept. 10.
Otherwise, the book will be available on launch day, Sept. 17.
Ah I didn’t preorder can I still buy it as a master tier or nah I’m figuring nah
anyone know of a way to add an area of 30ft to an item that grants advantage to saves to a homebrew item or do I just have to have that in the description ?
If you preorder and sign up for a subscription today, you can access the book today as well.
2024 backgrounds r locked behind the 2024 book, but the website words it as "you can unlock it by buying the book". does that mean i can see the 2024 backgrounds if i buy the book without the master subscription early access?
trying to make the stirring Scaled Ornament from my book to use on beyond but I can't seem to figure out a way to add that part of it
What happens when you try to make a spell attack? What spell specifically?
So I have master tier so if I buy the books I’m good?
That still follows the 2014 rules for custom backgrounds. If you do use it, you can manually adjust your ability scores and manually add a feat.
You’d need a Master Tier subscription to use your preorder today.
@uneven lantern starry Wisp for exaple, i cant make a spell attack
What happens when you try to make a spell attack, specifically?
Confirmed. I’ll pass that along.
#dm-discussion can give you a hand with that.
Thank you!
when you pick custom background in dnd beyond, it doesnt show the ability score increases. is that expected?
Custom backgrounds aren't in the 2024 phb so you'd have to manually add the bonuses in the ability screen
Observant feat has the wrong Prerequisite set
I have the master tier when can I go to buy th e 2024 books?
Introducing the 2024 Player's Handbook, the new and improved guide for fifth edition DUNGEONS & DRAGONS. Packed with endless character options, striking illustrations, and a streamlined design, every part of this 384-page book is a joy to experience.
Pre-order the Digital edition for character sheet bonuses: 10 frames, 5 backdrops, and 12 digit...
That’s a known issue.
does anyone know why you can't use tasha's rules even with it toggled on in settings with a 2024 character? is this a bug?
some of the subclasses are missing as a bug, the tasha's optional features are missing on purpose
Is anyone having trouble purchasing the book I put in my card stuff and then when I do order it says it’s wrong and ik it’s correct
Subclass Issue: Battle-Master Manuevers not detecting STR/DEX correctly.
Why are the Tasha's options missing on purpose?
alot of them just got rolled directly into the class others the features they replaced are gone so better to just not have them at all as they couldn't be used
10th lvl monk only showing 1 attack per action, should have 2 from extra atack 5+
um you just hit the button again
it is listed in your features & traits
they just don't have a button for more then one attack at a time
oh wait I see what you mean
above the rolls yeah it should say 2
that is something to bring up in #ddb-feedback or #ddb-support
We're in #ddb-support 😉
Only the core rules classes are showing up on the character creation, even though the phb source book got released. I preordered it and have master tier. Am I doing something wrong?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/licenses make sure your entitlements are in sync :)
Pact Weapon does not use Charisma instead of Dex or Str with the weapon you declare as such
Thank you so much! I had no idea that was a thing.
where did you hear that, sorry?
