So if I have a character now, once these changes are implemented I will no longer see the 2014 spells, and I will ONLY see the 2024 spells in my character sheet? Sorry but that's a terrible move by you to do that.. My characters are built around the spells, and some of those changes will kill the build.
Sorry but that's a terrible move by you to do that
Just a reminder that no one in this channel made the decision
I inderstand that.. and I feel sorry for th emods, you are facing the backlash of all the unhappy players, I understand you ar enot to blame, but we have to vent our frustrations somewhere.
No, you do not
We have to let WOTC know how unhappy and how poor of a decision this is
No one on this server, be they mod or community member, is obligated to the be target of anyones frustration
I want to make that crystal clear
This has probably been explained but hard to find. If you have the 2014 books with magic items do you get access to all the 2024 version of those items automatically or is it going to block you access to it? Same question applies to spells.
You will not be blocked from anything
One of two things will happen
- Your content will be unchanged except for a Legacy tag
- Your content will be updated to reflect the 2024 wording for listings only
This means if you own a spell from the 2014 PHB, you will continue to be able to use it in the tools, it'll just have the 2024 wording
Same for magic items
Ok thank you.
No worries
the tl;dr is "some of your content may change, nothing will be taken away"
I personally think its fine, means you get free upgraded items and spells.
My feedback would be for legacy books - allow a PDF download.
Nah, you're taking away something someone bought and replacing it with an inferior version. I asked in feedback:
Will I be getting a refund for the items being taken from my account that I purchased?
That's not something anyone here can help with. You'd have to discuss it with customer support.

I have a question about character sheets - the changelog says that character sheets will be updated to reflect the 2024 rules (race becoming species, for example).
If I have a character created using a 2014 race/class, will things like origin feats and other new character creation content be automatically added to my character sheet? And if so, will that be for all existing characters or only new characters?
For any spells and equipment your character has, those will be updated to the latest versions, but your character will otherwise have the same spells and equipment selected.
Any other character options like race/class will be not be changed, aside from being labelled as "(Legacy)" in cases where a more recent update is available.
If you want to take advantage of brand new things like Origin Feats, you can simply add those to your character.
But will they automatically appear in the character builder section if using a legacy character?
The changelog says "The Character Builder and digital character sheet are being updated to reflect these changes as well as changes in game terminology."
By automatically appear, I mean, if I create a character once these changes have gone through, and choose a legacy elf and legacy wizard, will the character builder prompt me to pick an origin feat on the background tab?
I'm using origin feat as a concrete example - trying to figure out whether my 2014 character is still actually going to be built as a 2024 character, or not.
If I have an on-going campaign using the 2014 ruleset and don't want to change in the middle of a campaign, do I have any option other than extensive use of the homebrew tools?
If you make a character before the release of the 2024 PHB, with the exception of spells and equipment, nothing will change post release other than "legacy" being added to the name of some of your characters options and rules language/terminology being different in some instances
At this time, using the homebrew tools to make copies of the 2014 is the only means to "preserve" those spells in the character builder and other tools
Okay, thanks. I'm guessing from your answer that this won't be the case if I make a charcter after the PHB24 comes out!
I appreciate you taking the time to clarify.
Your character won’t be automatically given an Origin Feat. I don’t know whether the prompt to choose one is always shown or only shown for the new backgrounds.
That will still be the case, legacy options will remain available to use
You'll just need to actually pick the legacy version
I see. Thanks! The changelog was confusing in that case because it implied the character builder was being updated on all character sheets to reflect the new rules.
It is, but not in the way you think
2014 options sans spells et al will be marked legacy, but still useable
2024 options will be the standard options
The rule references on the character sheet will be updated to 2024 rules. I'm not familiar with all the changes yet, but as one example the Exhuastion rules/tracking will change to show the 2024 rules where you lose points from D20 rolls and movement speed based on level, as opposed to the old rules where you had a different effect per level.
If you want to use the old rules you would have to look them up yourself in the compendium.
Ah! Thanks for clearing that up!
Thanks - the thing that I was wondering about was that the changelog said that the character builder was changing too, but wasn't clear about how much. I realise that the rules will be changing on the sheets.
Why are the subclasses from certain 3rd party books labeled as such and explicitly said to not be official, but from others they're not?
For example:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/classes/4-paladin
Oath of the Open Sea vs Oath of Zeal
Oath of the Open Sea likely has that label because it’s both A) freely available for all users and B) made by Critical Role, meaning that when Critical Role Content is enabled for a character, it’s displayed alongside Critical Role subclasses that are official.
I believe that header is supposed to indicate that everything from that point on is partnered content, but it does appear to have cr specific branding
Oath of Zeal’s lack of that label does not mean it’s an official subclass, or that its use isn’t still subject to the DM’s approval as with any subclass.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/classes/2-cleric
This has a header both for blood domain (cr) and community domain (humblewood), but not inquisition (grimhollow)
Yeah, I was incorrect, as was spam
The header is on all cr subclasses, not just the once free ones.
I'll pass this along as soon as I can
Thank you
If a subscription is cancelled, do all the benefits (unlimited characters, content sharing etc) continue until the next billing date? When it does end, do I get to choose which 6 characters are "active", and are the rest deleted or just locked?
Your subscription will remain active for however long you've paid.
When the subscription ends, you will indeed be prompted to choose six characters to keep active.
The rest will be locked until/unless you subscribe again or manually remove characters.
Thank you
A number of people I know have reported issues downloading their character sheets as PDFs. Any known reason for this?
What kind of issues?
They try to export the character sheet to PDF and nothing happens or the PDF is blank
Can you share a link to one of those characters?
I keep seeing spells are changing, how are those spells changing? Is there a list some where?
There are several spells that have been updated in the 2024 PHB. You'd have to compare the the PHBs to see the differences.
Essentially the D&D Beyond spell listings (which includes the spells you can select on your character sheet) will include only the most recent version of any spell.
So for any spell you have that's being updated, you'll instead see that updated version in the spell listings and your character sheets, whether you purchase the new rulebooks or not.
The older books will still display those spells in their original version.
What's the average delivery time for the digital books when purchased?
I have been waiting on the email for over an hour now...
If you bought the digital book on DDB, it should be instantly available to you through DDB.
I did buy the bundle through DDB. I thought I had to get an email with a code?
That's for dndstore.wizards.com
If you bought it on the D&D Beyond marketplace, it'll be immediately added to your entitlements
And I can see it's there.
Awesome!
Thank you!
if a magic item uses a spell, like lets say the the fireball in staff of power if you make a homebrew copy of that item will the spells inside the item change to the 2024 variants?
Since the spells are changing, I believe so.
oh no
Copying the item doesn't copy the spell, it just copies what spell it's pointing to
and i assume class features that give access to spells like warlock invocations are the same way, correct?
Yes
There’s only one set of spells, and they’ll all be the most recent version.
When you look at the spell list for your character, you’ll still see all the same names.
Regardless of how your character got that spell.
and we still cant homebrew invocations or atrificer infusions, correct?
Doesn't that mean there will be no way to play a 2014 warlock?
If the legacy invocations all point at 2024 spells and there's no way to make homebrew invocations to point at homebrewed 2014 spells?
yes thats what im currently talking to my group about
The advice I’ve always given for homebrew invocations is to do it as a homebrew feat, and then simply leave the invocation unselected.
so to keep playing the way we are we have to homebrew every spell, every item, every subclass that has an always prepared list, make a feat for every invocation that adds a spell, make a feat for every infusion that copies an item, homebrew any feat that gives a spell, and homebrew every race that gives a spell am i missing anything?
Yes, you also have to look up rules and conditions because they won't be on the sheet anymore. But it's OK, you've got a whole week and a half to sort it out. 🙄
I’d just ignore the infusions entirely and add the item as needed.
im sorry but the position of "if you want to play the way youve been paying to play you need to completely remake a large portion of the game, while still paying to do that" is insane, at this point theres no reason for me to keep paying for a subscription because i can just share the homebrew i was forced to make for free and 90% of that is what im sharing anyways
Yeah, I know the answers I gave aren’t the ones you want. If you want to share your thoughts in #ddb-feedback, I can pass them along, and if you want help with homebrew, I’m happy to offer any advice I can.
But that’s really the extent of my power here.
As my previous comment was removed (and I think misinterpreted) can I just say thanks again for providing what help you can, and doing so in such a polite & patient manner.
will the search function on ddb still show results for 2014 content or will all that be scrubbed in favor of the 2024 stuff too, like if i look up fireball will the 2014 fireball show up at all or will i have to go and dig through books to find out where every spell and item are from?
If you want to see the 2014 rules for fireball you’d have to check the 2014 PHB or the 2014 Basic Rules.
(Although Fireball itself is functionally unchanged in the 2024 PHB.)
fireball was just an example
so are you saying i cant search for it directly and i would need to navigate to the book to access the 2014 version of updated content?
This might not be knowable yet, but I'm guessing the optional features from Tashas that expand spell lists are not homebrewable (to use old spells)? At least not without workarounds like homebrew feats.
If you use the global site search, that will return results from books, including the 2014 PHB.
ok, thats good at least
If you’re using the Spells page or your character sheet, that will show only the latest version of each spell.
I don’t know the answer to that one yet.
Basically working off the same information given at the same time as everyone else. 😅
does anyone know why they did this?
i just realized we need to homebrew every monster with spellcasting too
No idea, but I think technical limitations is the most likely answer.
I hear that the new rules will happen automaticly on dnd beyond, so what happens if you have the old phb book but not the new one?
You can get the full details here:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/changelog#UpdatingtheDDBeyondToolsetforthe2024CoreRulebooks
But in that specific case, for any spells and items you currently have access to, your characters will be updated to the latest versions.
All other character options like your race, class, feats, etc will remain as-is.
so what benifit does buying the 2024 rulebooks give us if we're being forced to use everything anyways?
How will the spells from the 5e legacy books on the site be affected with the new 2024 spells?
like this only feels like a loss, as the people who would have bought it for the new spells and items just dont have to and many people will cancel subscriptions due to this
if you click the link just that spamandtuna just linked the info should be there
Spells and items make up only a portion of the book, so logically those who buy the 2024 PHB can then use everything else: classes, feats, etc.
many thanks ❤️
i guess im just biased as someone that wasnt going to interact with 2024 content
So when the changes roll out will we need to buy the legacy players handbook in order to create stuff with them?
The 2014 Basic Rules will continue to be freely available.
But if you wanted to use any of the other subclasses, feats, etc. from the 2014 PHB that aren’t in the Basic Rules, then yes, you would need access to that book to do so.
Exactly as you would need to use those options today.
Any old spells that have been updated in the new PHB will be replaced by the new. You will have free access to any new spells that you owned the old versions of. You will not be able to access old spells on your character sheet (without homebrew workarounds, maybe), but they should be available in the search bar and digital books.
Any word on refunding the difference between compendium versions and the version most of us purchased specifically for use with character builder etc?
That’s not something anyone here can help you with. You’d have to have that discussion with customer support.
Having trouble changing character image.
For some reason, it seems to take forever, and when I refresh I get an API Error
Dndbeyond supports PNGs and JPEGs, right?
Hmmm... I would assume it supports any web-safe image format but I can't say that for certain.
when is the migrate to 2024 happening for ddb?
i need to port out my character sheets before it happens, which there is a legacy content
on the third of next month
No option for legacy 5e content?
It's all detailed here https://www.dndbeyond.com/changelog
With a clarification thread here https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/news-announcements/204068-news-clarifications-on-the-2024-d-d-beyond
Yesterday, we released a Changelog detailing the upcoming updates to the D&D Beyond site. We have been listening to your feedback and want to provide som...
Not in the character builder, no.
Yes, there will be. Please do not spread misinformation.
Spells, mundane items, and magic items will not fall under the legacy tag, but all other elements will and will be toggleable in the character builder
so there will be legacy. Neat!
Spells, mundane items, and magic items. the 2014 info will it remain or get updated to 2024?
The 2014 spells, mundane and magical items will continue to exist in the Compendium. In the Character Builder/Character Sheets, only the 2024 versions of those will be accessible
We've established here and on the forum that you cannot run a purely 2014 character, even with homebrew. At best you can have a mix of 2014/2024.
wait so when creating a character you will choose between 2014 and 2024?
since i already have a campaign planned with the 2014 ruleset
and I don't want to now change it since I have still not read the new rules
neither did my friends
according to WOTC, too damn bad. as of now the rules are going to switch over and everything 2014 is just going to dissapear even though we paid for it. im making sure i have all my characters with a physical character sheet, because i'm cancelling my subscription to D&D beyond. they take your money and get rid of things that you paid for
im not happy with this switch at all
"everything 2014 is just going to disappear"
This is not accurate
Only some options (spells, mundane items, magic items) are being updated and only the listings
Please do not spread misinformation
thenn WOTC needs to be more transparent with what they are going to do with our money
why wont they just let me choose between 2014 and 2024
because i would like to be able to access everything that i had prior purchased
Apologies if this has been answered somewhere above, but could you clarify/confirm the statement about spells in the clarification forum thread, please? It says available in the Compendium without referencing listings specifically. Will the 2024 spells be added as new entries, or are the 2014 spell locations going to be updated to reference the 2024 version? To go by example, will https://www.dndbeyond.com/spells/2046-contagion continue to reference the 2014 Contagion spell, and the 2024 version of Contagion be given a new id/url, so both can be found in the Game Rules/Spells listings, or will the content at that URL be updated to reference the 2024 version, so there will be no reference to the 2014 version under Game Rules/Spells, just in the text of the 2014 PHB?
Hmm kinda don't understand the changes: if right now I'm in the middle of campaign then if I'll lvlup the character then I'll see the old version of of character sheets or the new one?
since we were told the "fix" to not having 2014 spells would be to homebrew, how do we get around the restriction of publishing things that are too close to the source?
That URL will reference the 2024 version of Contagion, as will character sheets. The books themselves (2014 PHB and the 2014 Basic Rules) will still contain the 2014 version of the spell.
Leveling up will continue to use the rules for your existing class. The new versions are effectively set up as separate classes.
If you want to use the rules for the new class, you’d need to remove the existing class and add the new one.
There is no new class for me as I'm playing with Artificer 😅
All the character options you have selected (and can select) will still be there, but spells and items will reference only their most recent versions.
So if you’ve selected a spell like Contagion, you will still see Contagion there one your character, but it will be the 2024 version of that spell.
You don't publish them, as you don't need to. Homebrew content can be shared within campaigns, even without a subscription
so rather the allowing one person to do it for the entire community each dm is expected to do it for their group? I know this is maybe now feedback and not support, but maybe a DDB admin could just create the 2014 spells as homebrew for everyone instead of having people do it a bunch of times.
Wait so how is that the compendium? Is the compendium literally just the “bad ebook” or the searchable system which has always supported legacy content.
I thought we were only losing 2014 spells and items on character sheets
This page will be updated to the 2024 version:
These pages will continue to reference the 2014 version: - https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/dnd/phb-2014/spell-descriptions-c#Contagion
- https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/dnd/basic-rules-2014/spells#Contagion
So the answer was yes which is…. A choice from dndbeyond. Thanks.
Is there a reason beyond “marketing thought it wouldn’t sell’ that none of this was mentioned when phb 2024 preorders went up?
The only information I have is what’s been made publicly available.
Because the 5.2014 books were still on sale then and dndbeyond’s been selling digital toolkit access to them since then while assuredly knowing that it would be removed
Ok
Welp, thanks. Back to homebrewing all my spells and characters and telling my warlock he can’t use dndbeyond.
There's also certain things that can't be homebrewed at all, so there's no way to continue using the under 2014 rules. Warlock invocations and the expanded spell lists from Tasha's both grant spells, and as you can't homebrew invocations or classes there's no way to have them use 2014 spells.
How do you add exp on your character in dnd beyond?
I saw from old vids from 2 years ago you can add exp but all I see is levels
You probably need to open your character settings and switch “Advancement Type” from Milestone to XP.
Then you’ll an XP tracker near your character name.
How do you do that?
Click your character name and select “Character Settings”.
Or open the character builder and visit the “Home” tab.
Hey there, I got a question about the 2024 to 2014 integration
We'll do our best to answer it as clearly as possible
Found it thank you
I got a campaign that's wrapping up likely end of the year, and we play with the 2014 rules, when the Integration drops will everything there be changed to 2024?
No, not everything
Just
- spells
- mundane items
- magic items (that are in the PHB)
- rule links/language/tooltips
Everything else will remain unchanged, with the exception of getting a Legacy tag
And these changes will only apply to listings (the bits that appear in the tools such as the character sheet)
It won't affect the compendium (the "ebook" of the rules)
I got a question when one dnd comes out will the old 2014 books be unpurchable
No
Right ok, that's alright at least, but will there be like a toggle option to not do that just on the campaign or the character sheets or will everything(in this list) be forced-updated?
i believe forced
For the four things listed, there won't be a toggle I'm afraid. They're being updated at the source
For everything else, there will be a legacy content toggle
Ok, Can they, like, not do that? I don't know about programming so I don't know what logistics issues are at hand here but I imagine changing things at a source code level is pretty hardcore
i’d imagine it would be difficult to create a general toggle because there’s checking that comes into effect. 2014 can be brought forward to the 2024 settings, but not backward
I know, I do like that things are updated to their newest version and from what I have seen almost everything in 2024's is either an improvement or exactly the same as before, but I just want to wrap my game and then move on to the next campaign with 2024 update
home brew is unaffected. you could create a home brew version of anything you need to keep unchanged.
And It's a big disconnect to have one session be like 'some of your spells now work completely different'
No you can't. We haven't come up with a full list yet, but we know that Invocations can't be homebrewed, so any that grant spells can only reference the new ones. Same with the expanded spell lists from Tashas, no way to homebrew them as they are part of a class so no way to add the old spells to your list.
As things stand you will not be able to create a 100% 2014 character, even with homebrew.
Iirc (and it’s been a minute) homebrew items also can’t point at homebrew spells. So any staves will always point at 5.5e spells
Tbh given the growing list - does dndbeyond have a plan to refund people that thought they could keep using the tool because 5.2024 was fully 5e compatible?
Do the tooltips for spells on Monsters pull from the compendium or the character creator listings? Just wondering if legacy monsters are likely to reference the new or the old spells.
Tooltips will all reference the latest version.
I assume that would also apply then to spells linked in an adventure, e.g. on traps? (I realise you may not have all the answers on this, just gathering what info I can).
Yes. Every tooltip will point to the latest version.
And for any tooltip you can access today, you’ll continue to have access to in its latest form.
Thanks, I thought as much but wanted to confirm
Is there a recourse for a la carte content that will be removed? It’s toolkit only by design and folks won’t have access to the original / 5.0e version
What does die mean in dnd?
Like, i have read the basic rules, and it is often mentioned, but i thought this was a bug/misspell, but after this sentence:
You roll the damage die or dice,
(chapter 9:combat) im not sure in anything
Die is the singular form of dice. So roll the damage die (single d6 or d8) vs roll the damage dice (2d6)
Die can also refer to the dying rules but not in your example
Better question for #dnd-newcomers. This channel is for getting help with the D&D Beyond Website when having technical difficulties.
srry i thought this was a technical issue
Hi there, not sure whether this question fits this channel, but I have heard D & D is developing a new VTT. Is there anywhere I can view what this might look like, and how do you get involved in the Beta version? (if possible)
It's called Project Sigil
And I don't think they have shared what it will look like.
But you can hopefully sign up here
they recently showed it off a bit at a event with voice actors for astarion and karlach played dnd with brenhan lee muligan and they used the vtt for a combat encounter to show it off
This one here https://youtu.be/Cn7XLBykzEU?si=Y63HjY1TBKT3JaQT
I've not had chance to watch it yet so I don't know how much is shown, but there's at least some footage of them using it for combat.

Looking for some help with an Encounter that can't be deleted.
You need to submit a support ticket to get this resolved.
Went to "Help Portal" selected "Tools and Features" and then "Encounters." Followed link at the end of the FAQs and got to "Submit a request." Selected "D&D Beyond Help" from the list and then ... nothing else.

D&D Beyond customer support can be contacted at the link below. Requests are answered in the order they're received. Submitting multiple requests for the same issue can result in a delayed response.

Yeah, that was where I was at. Select "D&D Beyond Help" from the menu and then ... nothing.
Ah ... need to turn off content blocking. Annoying. Filled out form and we'll see what happens.
Does it have a name?
If not, you might try naming it first and then deleting it.
Otherwise, yeah, customer support can take care of it.
Is it me or has the website & forum just gone down?
"Error 503: Backend Unavailable, connection timeout"
given the number of people on the forums right now dwarfs every other time I've seen it outside of the OGL debacle
I'd guess it's that
It's back up.
Anybody know if its possible to create a homebrew vehicle in DnD Beyond? I'm using a monster template at the moment, but its nowhere near as clean as the vehicle template in Ghosts of Saltmarsh.
I’m afraid not.
Ah cheers, monster it is!
I just got to know about new 2024 spells overriding the old ones even if you wanted to play with the 2014 ruleset, and this being the case for other rules too. Has someone a comprehensive list of all of the changes that will happen even if I were to play with the old ruleset?
Spells will be changed to 2024 versions, as will all of thebrules/tooltips on the character sheet (some of these are identical in both versions, but for a start I know that exhuastion and the hide action have both changed).
There are homebrew workarounds to keep the old spells, but they're a lot of effort and don't work in all circumstances.
When the DMG releases the items will also be changed over. It's unclear yet whether they can be fully homebrewed back to the old versions.
You do get to keep the old class/subclass/race/background, they will just be marked as legacy and hidden unless you enable legacy options in your souces.
You also get free access to the new spells that replace ones you already owned.
Oh, just for clarity, the old spells (and later items) will still be available in the compendium/search, just not in the character builder, you know, where they'd be useful.
Is there a list of these spells tho? I want to adapt to the new changes but idk where to look for other then be surprised when a spell's text is different from what I remember
DnDBeyond have not supplied one, but this is the best 3rd party list I've found. Looks like around 110 of the 380ish spells have actually changed. It also lists other changes in the new PHB.

maps down?
Hey. Are the login servers for beyond down?
nvm just smh my 1GB Cache screwing around.
Hey, I have a player with all the books for DnD beyond, but I don’t (I’ve been playing pen n paper) does anyone know how to have non-host content sharing?
You just need a Master Tier Subscription to enable content sharing in a campaign. Then all books from all players are shared with eachother within that campaign
To clarify, anyone with a Master Tier subscription can enable Content Sharing for that campaign.
It doesn’t have to be the DM, and it doesn’t have to be the person with the books (though either of them can be).
I have this habit of instead of writing a backstory I write a 4-paragraph essay and I wanted to know if there was a text limit in dnd beyond so if there is I don't run out of room for the story
I would not use D&D Beyond to store large volumes of text, it doesn't have a robust text editor, it's more intended for simple notes
Through my short and limited testing, the backstory section supports at least 851580 Characters, 151849 Words, and 9577 Lines. (On web browsers).
You likely will be fine to have 4 paragraphs within that section naturally.
Write it in a text document instead and copy + paste it over once you're done to prevent any loss of progress.
So my buddy is saying I can’t content share books in my dnd beyond campaign anymore with the new rules coming out is that true?
The 2024 core rulebooks will not be affecting how content sharing works
They may be referring to how the new content is being implimented in a way that is misleading you
But without knowing specifics, I can't really say
Your best bet is to read the changelog yourself: https://www.dndbeyond.com/changelog
Yeah that was the case, the spell change thing is just wack and blown out of proportion and they made me think anyway, it’s taken care of, thank you!
my alt account doesnt seem to be able to access shared content when i let it join a campaign
Has the DM of the campaign toggled on content sharing?
Also only 5 campaigns can have content sharing enabled by 1 active master tier account - so if you're over that limit, you won't be able to enable content sharing on further campaigns until you disable it on one of the other campaigns.
Also try clearing your browser cache and making sure your account entitlements are in sync.
It has been turned on yes, and this is on the app
And the DM account has not reached above... 5? shared campaigns
Does this page say your account entitlements are in sync?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/licenses
How do i check if theyre entittled to me? Just to be double sure
The granted section seems to be fine
There’s a section at the top of that page that says “Account Entitlements”. Ideally, that section should say “Your account entitlements are in sync!”
If they aren’t, there should be a button to manually trigger a sync.
Oh, im blind as a dingbat then, its synced
On the alt account?
Oh do i have to check to see if the shared gives me entittlement to it?
Check whichever account isn’t able to access the shared content.
Just to see whether the entitlements are in sync.
I need help with a DnD homebrew race thing. I'm trying to make it so the race becomes immune to non-magical bludgeoning, slashing, and piecering damage once the ability is activated. I have it set to be a bonus action but the modifier is always on I want it to only be on when they activate it. Oh and it's in DnD beyond
There isn’t a means to mark when it’s active or not.
Though some people do use homebrew items as a workaround for that.
You can equip the item to start the effect, and unequip when it ends.
Alright thanks
Any time I try to post or if I try to make a new thread I get the error: "You can only make 1 post every 1 sec". Also my notifications have stopped working.
I have tried clearing all cookies and cache, different browsers (firefox, chrome, opera gx and edge) and different devices (laptop [windows] and android phone).
I'm not sure what you mean here - are you referring to trying to create a post on DnDBeyond's forums (https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums) ?
yes, on the D&D Beyond forums
Are you using any adblockers, VPN, or third-party antivirus?
Not for the site, I disable everything for it. I have tried disabling them in general and have tried logging in via incognito mode.
It is showing on my profile that I was last active: "Last active Sat, Nov, 9 2024 23:52:54"
Others are experiencing this too: https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/bugs-support/204199-friend-cant-post-on-forums-or-pms#c1
So it seems whatever is affecting me is definitely some issue on the DDB server.
My friend, TheFriendlyArchfey, can't post anymore. He was able to send me a PM, but he cannot post again and can only edit his original PM.

Question Re: 2014-2024 conversions:
Bard made on 2014 took Aura of Vitality. My understanding is that won't be available for Bards in 2024. Will it disappear and need to be readded as a homebrew? If I am okay using the 2024 version will I be able to add that to the available spells? How will that work?
Another character is an Eladrin. Will she still be able to be an Eladrin? How will that work?
Will they need to make entirely new characters?
Guys, can I ask for help on a snippet calculation? How can I succinctly convert the following? "a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls you make with it. This bonus increases to +2 at 9th level and +3 at 17th level." The +1 starts from level 1, if that makes any difference
Is there a list somewhere of the spells that are changing re: 2024? DDB says to make homebrew copies. But without the new book, I don't know which spells to homebrew without homebrewing everything. DDB is rolling out the changes before the books are released. By then it's too late to "copy" the existing spells and they'll need to be re-created from scratch.
Also, couldn't have DDB just made homebrew copies of all spells for us??
Seems to be a common solution. They should just be proactive and do it once and for all so everyone doesn't need to make their own homebrew versions.
Do you really think they'd go the extra mile and do something they could easily ignore? They'd never do that. I appreciate the toolkit for what it is, but the ones behind it couldn't give 2 s**ts about the people that actually use it. Those that are left, that is
If it wasn't replaced with a 2024 version, it won't be changed.
After the switchover there will be a 2014/Legacy Bard and a 2024 Bard.
If you leave the character as a 2014 bard then they will keep the spell, but it will be changed to the 2024 version of the spell. You will not be able to keep the 2014 version. (The two versions may be identical for this spell, I'm not sure offhand if this is one that changed).
If you rebuilt the character as a 2024 bard then you wouldn't be able to add the spell (assuming you're correct that it's not a bard spell in the new rules)
Your bard will still have Aura of Vitality, but it will be the most recent version of the spell. Your Eladrin will still be an Eladrin, using whatever version of that species they’re using today.
One more: If a player wants to play a 2024 character, but is an Eladrin. Will I be able to homebrew that using D&DBeyond, assuming it isn't an option in the 2024 sheet?
They'll be able to play an Eladrin with the 2024 rules. They'll just pick the Legacy Eladrin species as their species option.
You’ll be able to continue using any of the existing Eladrin options.
Everything you have selected (and can select) will still be available, but spells and items will display only in their most recent versions. You do not need to purchase the new book to use the updated spells and items if you can access those today.
Oops. I purchased everything. Oh well
If I have a Master Tier subscription but I don’t preorder the PHB before September 3, will I still be able to purchase it before September 17?
I’d imagine so, but I can try to get confirmation.
{{1+(characterlevel-1)/8#rounddown,signed}}
Though you may want to swap characterlevel to classlevel if this is a subclass feature.
Thanks a lot!! Was really trying to wrap my brain around that, but I'm really not good with numbers!
No, it's a subrace feature
1is the base value+(characterlevel-1)/8adds another 1 at 9 and again at 17 (every eight levels after 1)#applies the modifiers to the final result; the modifiers are separated by commasrounddownremoves the decimal places after dividingsigneddisplays the number with a "+" at the start.
Just to add to the other comments. If you do use a 2014 race like Eladrin, I believe the Ability Score Increase will be removed, as you get that from the background instead under 2024 rules. 2024 backgrounds still get the same overall increase (+2/+1 or +1/+1/+1), but may limit which stat you can add them to (e.g. a Sage can only add them to Con, Wis or Int).
There's a list here that some other users have made.
#1257364418627506216 message
What, it won't limit which stats you can increase if you're using an old race? That would be good.
Correct
Any species that currently have an ASI will keep it as-is.
And can presumably still be customized using the existing TCOE rules as needed.
Preorders and the preorder bonuses will be available through September 16th. Subscribers who purchase during the early access period for their tier will receive early access as well.
Just bought the digital copy of Ebon Tide but it doesn't show up in the race selection
Hey, I finally got an acknowledgement!
Have you turned on Kobold Press Content for that character?
yes
If you go to this page, does it say whether your account entitlements are in sync?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/licenses
Not sure this is the right channel for this question so apologies if I'm in the wrong place.
I'm a master tier subscriber so I believe I'm set to get the new ruleset on the 3rd. Will those I'm sharing my content with also be able to see it then or will it still be based on their subscription status?
ah, good catch @uneven lantern . I've never had that button appear before but it was there
If you’ve got it unlocked, it will be shared as normal. Your whole party’s good to go.
Perfect! Thank you for the quick response!
small bug, but Case, Map or Scroll doesn't show up as a container in DDB inventory
so just renamed a crossbow bolt case
hello! D&D noob here, and even moreso to the DDB interface. The campaign my DM is running has allowed us 2 additional spells (due to our allegiance to the god in the homebrew) I tried to add those spells to my class (bard) and it wouldnt work. So I tried to make homebrew levels of those spells to fit my L1 character, but again it wouldnt let me add those spells. The last thing I've tried is creating a homebrew subclass of Bard with those two spells in the [Additional Spells] section. I saved the Hb, it shows up in my HB list. Now on to character creation, when i make a new character i select to allow HB stuff but now I cant select the new subclass I made, it doesnt even show up in the classes list.
There is an error message on my HB subclass that says the following:
This Subclass cannot be shared with the community for the following reasons:
This homebrew Subclass has data mapped to it that is licensed content or private homebrew. This typically occurs when licensed or private homebrew spells are linked to the Subclass.
Bard: College of Creation (Bygar HB) is currently too similar to College of Creation to share with the community.
Remember, private homebrew is automatically shared with other users in your campaigns and does not need to be shared with the community for players to access.
How can I resolve this?
The error you’re seeing only applies if you’re trying to publish it for the global community.
You can safely ignore that if you’re just using it in your own campaign.
Do you have Homebrew Content enabled for that character?
I do
How long ago did you create it?
Sometime the homebrew stuff can take a few minutes before it shows on the character sheet.
ive been editing it for about an hour now and i keep trying.. on another note.. i tried adding a public subclass to my collection and it still isnt showingup in the carachter builder either (yes I HB content enables)
was that meant for me?
No
ok
There is a lot going on currently ;)
roger that, was just checking
Are you able to see other types of homebrew on your character sheet?
Like spells or feats or…?
none at all
Can you share a link to that character?
does this work? https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/130758672/
That’s just a 1st-level character?
You’ll need to be at least level 3 to choose a subclass.
Under their 3rd-level “Bardic College” feature.
huh? Im trying to create a homebrew Bard class (i believe its called a subclass in the homebrew section) with 2 additional spells available: Freedom of Movement & Charm Monster In my character setup page I have Homebrew, Expanded Rules, Legacy, etc all selected as options, Ive even created HB versions of those spells to be available at Lvl 1,.. THOSE spells show up as selections.. but my overall problem is that on creation of a lvl1 character, I get 2 cantrips and 4 spells.. I cant add any additional spells.. I thought by creating a new HB class with those HB spells (set to be available at lvl1) as additional spells Id be avle to solve that issue, but for the live of me I cant select any homebrew classes at all, ive even added public HB classes to my collection and those dont show up either
Update on not being able to post, it seems one of my posts
Got a date in the future (november 9th) somehow. I tried to delete it to see if that would do anything but nope still can't post.
This is frustrating.
I escalated this to the team. Though I can't give an ETA on a fix.
I also have a support ticket open but I know support are swamped right now. I'm mostly posting this here to keep updates in case anyone else has issues. Thank you for raising it to the team!
It’s not possible to create a homebrew class.
Subclasses are a specialization within a class. Members of the Bard class choose their subclass at level 3.
So if you’ve created a homebrew subclass, the earliest you can add it to your bard is level 3.
I see. I just did that and you are correct thank you
If you need an option that works at level 1, a homebrew race, background, or feat could do the trick.
gotcha, thank you very much
dumb question.. how do I add a feat?
to a character, not in the HB section
On the character sheet itself, if you go to Features & Traits, then scroll all the way down to the Feats section, you should see a button that says “Manage Feats”.
Hi, bit of an obscure question. Right now, DDB has some pre-generated sheets on their site. Will these be updated to the 2024 rules, will there be 2024 variants, or any other changes? Thanks!
Referring to this site: https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/premade
just to confirm that i read this correctly, 2014 spells and items are being retained on sheets now?
Players who only have access to the 2014 Player’s Handbook will maintain their character options, spells, and magical items in their character sheets. Players with access to the 2024 and 2014 digital Player’s Handbooks can select from both sources when creating new characters. Players will not need to rely on Homebrew to use their 2014 player options, including spells and magic items, as recommended in previous changelogs.
Correct
cool, just making sure
thanks again to the mods for sifting through everything to pass things along, and sorry you were the front line for this, yall have been professional in dealing with all the emotional people (including myself) and i dont think we could have gotten close to this outcome with how emotionally charged all of our feedback has been
Just thought I'd mention that the date bug in the forum is also affecting PM's. Someone sent me one earlier this morning, but it's dated Nov 9th 2024.
Hi! How do I unlock the artificer class as well as the other races? I've just bought Spelljammer: Adventures in Space as well as Tasha's Cauldron of Everything (Digital copies) yet none of the new options show up, i'm a little worried that i've bought the wrong thing D:
Artificer is originally from Ebberon book the races are spread out through books
Yeah, Spelljammer offers a few races and Tasha's Cauldron of Everything gave you the artificer class i think?
I can probably find a couple of image references lol
Tasha's gives access to more subclasses. The actual class is in ebbberon. Spelljammer as a few races but you'll need the other books to get the rest of them
I just checked the market place, is it wayfinders guide to eberron? if so it doesn't show what I'm looking for I don't think
Nah you want Ebberon: Rising from the Last War
Oh I see! 1 class and 4 subclasses
Yeah
thank you! I think I did make a wrong purchase then haha
I can probably get it over the top of what i've gotten :)
some reason my mind made a jump there lol
It never hurts to have more subclasses 🙂
yeah! :D, quikck question tho - I just checked again and this is one of the new features
'Introducing the Artificer in a major rules expansion, plus the new Armorer subclass.' - what does this mean?
this is underneath tashas cauldron of everything
Just expanded rules because the artificer can do some really cool stuff that isn't seen with other classes, like the infusions
ohh i see, how do I get what i've gotten in spelljammer for the character creation??
Once you buy the book races/classes should autopopulate into the character creation tool if it doesn't I suggest logging out and back in or restarting the app
i shall try that :D
yooo they loaded!! ty!!
artificer i do have mow too :,D - tho i will def check out eberron too for more content!
Yw
a i was so scared for a moment lol, thank you very much for helping me! :DDD
No problem
Does anyone know how difficult it is to recover an account from an old email that I don't have access to anymore?
assuming you don't remember any of the stuff from the old email right?
I do but I don't have the phone number to the email anymore
will need to contact support about trying to swap the account to a new email or if you still sign in somewhere swaping the email yourself on the site
Yeah I have an email into them I just wanted to know how difficult it is
If you have an issue with D&D Beyond purchases or subscriptions, you may need to contact customer support. To do so, please go to http://dndbeyond.link/SubmitTicket and submit a ticket.
Important
- You will need to make an account for the support ticket system. This is not your D&D Beyond account.
- Tickets are responded to in the order they are received and response times depend on how busy the support team is.
- Tickets are grouped by user based on the most recent ticket. Do not submit multiple tickets for the same issue. This will push you down the queue
- The customer support team is active Monday-Friday and work US hours. This means you may not get a response based on your local timezone or weekends.
Does the DND beyond subscription rules early access apply to purchases made on the uk webstore?
Yep! After purchase, you should receive an email with a redemption code for DDB.
If you redeem the code and have a subscription, you’re all set!
Hi, I just bought the Grim Hollow player pack, and it hasn’t showed up in character creation for me yet. I have grim hollow turned on in the partnered content area, is there something else I’m missing?
You can check your account and see if entitlements are in sync - if they aren’t there is a button you can click to refresh entitlements.
You can check that here:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/licenses
Thanks! It worked
Why do you need my address and phone number to buy digital content????
I believe the address is used to calculate sales tax.
Not sure about the phone number.
Some services use phone numbers to verify other account information. Steam does that, for instance, and also requires these things for entirely digital purchases.
it specifically says shipping...there is nothing to ship
I get this on the character creation page
That's what I get as well.
Can you share a link to the character?
Are you using a homebrew version of that subclass?
Are you on a PC?
That's very strange. 🤔
I do also see your version of the text in the editor for that character.
i get this in the tooltip
There's some changes to the table formatting, too.
Ahhh. Yours includes this line at the top:
This feature is affected by multiclassing. See the Multiclassing rules for more information.
So I wonder if the version you're seeing is specific to multiclassing.
But I still can't get it to show that way on mine. 🧐
Ah, there we go. I had Rogue as the first class. I guess it only shows that when you select it as a subsequent class.
So it's not showing the errata'd version of the text when multiclassing?
I think that's all the info I need to pass this along for review.
Thanks for pointing it out!
that's such a weird bug
Yeah, it looks like they just overlooked the multiclassing description when the errata was applied.
Rogue
Spell Slots (p. 98). In the first sentence, “your spells” is
now “your wizard spells.”
Spells Known of 1st-Level and Higher (p. 98). In the
final sentence of this subsection, the closing phrase has
changed to read as follows: “… unless you’re replacing the
spell you gained at 3rd, 8th, 14th, or 20th level from any
school of magic.”
https://media.wizards.com/2021/dnd/downloads/PH-Errata.pdf
Although the first one there for "Spell Slots" seems to have been added.
Passed that along! Thanks again for letting us know.
hi! not sure if this is the right place to ask.
i can't seem to add any 3rd party items (subclasses, spells) to my character in DDB, even though the character has those sources enabled. Specifically, i mean Grim Hollow and Kobold Press stuff.
Does anyone know why?
Have you purchased those books yourself, or are they being shared with you?
Shared character options can only be used for characters assigned to the campaign that’s sharing them.
i own the Grim Hollow ones
If you go to this page, does it say whether your account entitlements are in sync?
Can a player enable content share in someone else's campaign at all? Or can only the dm of that campaign do that
Nvm, searched around and found my answer-
Anyone in the campaign with a Master Tier subscription can enable Content Sharing for that campaign.
Then once it’s enabled, everyone’s books get shared with everyone else.
why does my spell not talk about what it does at higher levels?
What spell is it?
ima be fixing the spelling
Oh, is this homebrew? I'm not sure, but I think you'd have to add the upscast info in a particular spot in the HB tool.
I'm not super-familiar though.
i recall doing that but it doesnt show up as a detail for community to see
My character sheet shows darkvision at 120 ft (goblin). Is there any way to tell why it is showing more then 60ft
https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/121684837
can you link to the character?
Question: If I were to subscribe to the master tier on DDB, would another one of my players who is not subscribed be able to use the maps VTT?
not unless you are running it. that feature isn't tied to a campaign, so its not shared
Darn :(. Thank you for the info though!
Followup question: if I was a player in a campaign they were the gm of, would they and everyone else in the campaign have access to my purchased books?
as long as anyone in the campaign has content sharing, they can enable it
in up to 5 games
Oh awesome, that's great. Tysm!
Stone rune from rune carver
thanks good catch- i always have to have faith D&D beyond calculates correct since it can be heard to find source
You need to write that explanation yourself and include it in the description.
Just to clarify: the DM needs to be a subscriber in order to start the Maps session. Once it’s started, any players in the campaign can join, with or without their own subscriptions.
Ohhh ok. Is there any way to make a player a (temporary) gm once the session has started and the players have joined?
Darn. Oh well, the 3d vtt is coming out in the fall, so it's no biggie. Thank you for the extra info, it is much appreciated!
It’s the Stone Rune you learned as a Rune Knight.
Thanks
Ohhh I feel stupid now but tha k yiu
Any way to fix infusions?
Can you share a link to your character?
Got it to work by copying the character.
Not sure if this is the right place for this question but here it goes - is there a way in D&D Beyond to upload a custom picture for my familiar or Awakened Mind spellbook?
This channel is for getting support using D&D Beyond
Please refer to the #channel-guide for the appropriate channel for your question
Aside from your character portrait, you could upload images for a homebrew monster, then add the monster to your character sheet under Extras.
I haven’t been able to find a clear answer to this. I have DM tier sub on Beyond and I have a digital copy of the new PH pre-purchased.
If I have content sharing in a campaign set up on Beyond will the players in my campaign get early access to the PH the same time I do or will they need to wait since they don’t have a higher subscription level?
Yep! If you’ve got the book unlocked, your whole party can use it.
Thank you! That's a great idea!
Hello going in to the D&D beyond subscriptions page leads me to this, I use Opera GX browser
here is the address dndbeyond.com/store/subscribe
Does it still happen if you sign out and back in?
fixed it thanks 🙂
Here’s what the “Find a Game” group looks like on the mobile app right now. Hence why I think the person in #dnd-discussion is having a hard time
That said, #looking-for-dm link still seems to be working fine
That's likely a local issue for you, they're all displaying for me on desktop and mobile
Make sure you haven't removed them from your channel list
Gotcha. I had it on just the other day.
(Only #find-a-game itself is shown by default.)
Can confirm that they show up fine for me on mobile
Alternatively, you can click the server name and select "Show All Channels".
I should ask here: Does Eberron Rising from the Last War come with the Artificer class? The marketplace in the browser shows that it does but the app doesn't list it.
Yes, it does
Perfect, thank you.
it comes with the class, but only 3 of the 4 subclasses
Do you get the same issue in another browser or on another device?
Browser yes but I dont know about other devices I can quickly check
ok
different devices seem fine
but on my main device its not regardless of browser
Which browsers did you try?
Internet explorer
Are you using a VPN or any security software like Kaspersky?
Is it possible to upgrade digital pre-order for PHB/DMG/MM to digi+physical?
It is not
Thank you for the extremely quick answer!
IE or Edge? support ended for IE years ago, so if thats actually what youre using, it could cause issues
ah, have you tried it in private/incognito mode
so it doesnt work on any browser on the same device? might be dumb, but have you tried the classic IT solution?
How do I know play dnd I online
(turn it off and back on again)
lol
Check out the pinned messages in #dnd-newcomers
my computer has been problomatic from the start and it restarts pretty much anytime i walk away lol
so yes...
Ty
hmm, if its working on another device on the same network, its definitely something with that PC
thats so strange
browsers are all up to date? no weird firewall rules etc?
everything should be up to date
and I dont really mess with the firewall
so there shouldnt be anything on that
hmm, you've got me then, hopefully spam or someone will think of something
this computer has been the bane of my existence for like 4 years 😭
how long does it take before i can use newly perched content for the character creator
assuming your entitlements are in sync, and the content has been released, immediatly
how do i check my entitlements
thank you
np, seems like the newer market doesnt sync as well as the old one did (in my experience*)
cool, thanks for letting me know
Does the Disciple of Life feature get added to all healing spells automatically?
i'm making a magic item on dnd beyond that gives a bonus to the damage of visious mockery how do i do that
i don't think you can make it target a specific spell like that
Yes
you can just put it in the description of the item, and either customize the spell on your sheet, or make a homebrew version of the spell
I am still having issues using the discount code that I got with my PH at Gen-Con. Where can I get assistance with that?
Does your book show here under Current Product License?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/licenses
There was an early issue where the codes would report as failed when they were actually successful, and then trying them again would say the code had already been redeemed (because it had).
No, it isn't showing there. It is just saying that the 'Coupon cannot be applied to your cart'
D&D Beyond customer support can be contacted at the link below. Requests are answered in the order they're received. Submitting multiple requests for the same issue can result in a delayed response.
http://dndbeyond.link/SubmitTicket
how to use the paypal payment?
Where can ask questions about Project Sigil? Specifically if it'll be accessible on a Mac?
I don't know if anyone knows that, other than that they said they wanted to get it on as many devices as possible, but #sigil-vtt-archive is the answer.
Oh great thanks! I just notice mac is very conspicuous by it's absence. Everywhere I'm seeing PC... then mobile and consoles. Which makes me thing they're just lumping all computers together as a "PC"
I hope it comes to Macs. I'm not a Mac user, but I think it should be everywhere. 🙂
Yeah half most of my group are Mac only (including myself) so fingers crossed
I think announcement implied pc first with other platforms in the plan
youll have to wait for a response. dont put in another ticket or youll get moved down the queue
ok thank you
Could be because of exchange rates. I got caught a few weeks ago when I preordered the new book bundles.
Somehow spell mastery and signature spells options doesn't even show
Or I need spells for it to work
You choose those from among the spells in your spellbook. What qualifying spells do you have in your spellbook?
Aaaah
I I just looking to each wizard subclasses for future campaigns
I was just curious
Hello, just bought Fizban's Treasury of Dragons, but I do not see i.e. Metallic Silver Dragon under ancestry options (only see the PHB Silver Dragon ancestry). I do see the purchase under Current Product Licenses in https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/licenses. I do have a Dragonborn PHB race selected, but I do not see any FTod Race or Ancestry options. I do have Expanded Rules enabled. Any help?
Fizban's dragon species options are not sub-options for the PHB Dragonborn, they're their own options
You will need to enable Expanded Rules
Then when you expand the Dragonborn option, you should see Metalic Dragonborn as an option
(ignore the missing images, that's just my browser playing up)
So I purchased the physical copy of DoIP and have been prepping for my first couple of sessions. I realized it would be easier to have the digital options for things like magic items and what not since I didn't want to homebrew everything. So I purchased the digital copy as well, only to find that the magical items included in the physical set, aren't included in the digital set. Something like the sending stones from dwarven excavation say that they you need the 2014 DM guide. I have the 2024 books all preordered, but it doesn't make any sense to have certain elements of the starter set still tied to the old core books. Besides homebrew is there any options for this? Becomes a totally wasted digital purchase as is.
What's your specific support query?
Is this expected behavior, a bug due to the current change over to the 2024 rules, or am I missing something I guess.
Because you mention both Dragon of Icespire Peak and the 2024 core rulebooks
Is what expected behaviour?
I guess main question is the digital copy of DoIP not supposed to come with the content needed to run it?
I'm struggling to parse your query, which may very well be a me problem
Yes, you're supposed to have everything in the adventure in the digital version of the adventure
So for example, the physical copy has the needed rules for the Sending Stones, has the phsical card to help players, etc... but in the digital copy when you get to the Sending Stones in the encounter it is not available when you hover or click on it you get told its in the 2014 DM Guide
I am wondering if the digital copy is not considered a starter set, but is just counted like the other adventure modules
Ah Thank you! The race selection becomes a dropdown not a button, cheers
What is offered on D&D Beyond is the adventure from the starter set, not the starter set itself
That is likely the difference, I made the assumption it was still the starter set
That's why it's listed as Dragon of Icespire Peak rather than D&D Essentials Kit
I will pass on that it's referencing items not found in the basic rules
Yeah from a quick scan many of the magic items are not included
I've passed that along
According to the mobile app, those should already be included.
Can you check to make sure your account entitlements are in sync?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/licenses
let me look
showxs the book there
let me get you a screen shot
oh they are working now
must have been out of sync when I tried yesterday
Thanks for the help
Hello, Im new to dnd and not sure whow it all works yet. If I purchase any adventure in the marketplace for example Tyranny of Dragons, if there anything else I would need to purchase with it? Will I have access to all the items and spells needed ect?
So, in the marketplace, there are 2 types of books, Sourcebooks and Adventures.
Sourcebooks contain information for the players and DMs, and often include things like character options, magic items, spells, etc.
Adventures are for DMs, and they contain a prewritten story with pre-built combat encounters, dungeons, maps, and other things you need to actually run the game.
Adventures might contain the spells and magic items that are used specifically as part of that story, by the NPCs and such, but it won't contain all the options players can use to make their characters
ok so an adventure is kinda like a lego set, only has what you need to build what you bought but not all the options to expand on it ?
kinda. Its not a perfect 1:1, because lego sets come with the mini-figs you need to play with it. Adventure models are more like a story book with no characters, and your players need to become the heroes to complete the story. Sourcebooks are what give you the range of options you can use to make those characters
Thank you for explaining it so simply, makes total sense!
Hi, popping in to ask; what happened to the old Spell-Less ranger pdf? I cant find it anymore
It never existed on D&D Beyond at least. You could try asking in #dnd-discussion.
Thank you!
I found the old PDF, it was under a different name "Modifying Classes" lol
Anyone proficient with the homebrewing of subclasses in ddb?
i know this isnt really a support question but the new 3d sandbox in beta testing available for everyone if you sign up? Or you need to be extracted out of a certain amount of people to enter the beta?
No specifics on how the closed beta will work have been announced
(also we have #sigil-vtt-archive )
You would have better luck saying what you need help with.
But the best help is to copy a class to see how its done.
I did, but I can seem to get it right anyway.
I'm trying to add the Cosmic Caller-subclass from the Feywild Companion to ddb, but at the 3rd level at the choosing of ones Companion you are to gain access to spells connected to which Companion-beast you choose. For one of those you get Chromatic Orb.
I've made the class-feature, with the three options of beasts. And in each option I was thinking I could add the spells under "Spells". But it won't add Chromatic Orb. It will add the 5th level addon, which is Levitate, but that won't appear in the spell-list of my Ranger anyway.
What am I missing?
i did not see the channel but thank you very much
Can you post a screenshot of how you have that spell set up in your homebrew?
Have you purchased the 2014 PHB on D&D Beyond?
You'll only be able to use spells you own in the homebrew system.
I've put it in the Additional Spell-list underneath the feature
That should add it to their spell list so that when you choose any Ranger spell, you can select from those additional options.
But when I try to add it in the spells in the options it doesn't find it
It adds a few of them
That means you dont own the source book that it is in
But not Elemental Weapon and Chromatic Orb
Oh its not enough to have access to it through friends?
You need to own the PHB for both of those.
I'd imagine the Additional Spell List approach would allow that, if the character is assigned to the campaign that's sharing those.
But to have it give the spell directly, you need to own the spell yourself.
Oh that explains that then.
But — Levitate, it adds it to the spell-list, nemas problemas, but it refuses be set as Always Prepared.
Levitate is part of the free Basic Rules, so anyone can use that.
But again, if you're using Additional Spell List, that simply adds the spell to the class's spell list for your character -- not to your character's known spells.
The way you added that spell wont let you set it as always prepared.
You would have to add it through the spells tab of the option that you chose to have it always preparred
Yeah, here?
Yep
I did!
Rangers don't prepare spells.
So I wonder if having it set there as "Always Prepared" is causing issues.
Aaaaaahahahahaha true
😆
Oh my god
That fixed it!
THANK YOU
I've been pulling my hair for two days 😆
I was wrong, it still counts towards known 😆
It shouldn't lol
You still have “Counts As Known Spell” set to “No”?
There is. It can take up to 15 mins for changes to take
I own Baldur's Gate: Descent Into Avernus on DDB (i bought the physical+digital bundle last night), but I cannot download the book in the mobile app for some reason. The app thinks I don't own it.
Are you sure that the mobile app is signed in to the same account that you used to buy the book?
Yes. I double-checked too.
I also tried signing out in the app and then signing back in
Did you buy it directly through D&D Beyond, or through dndstore.wizards.com?
I believe I bought it through marketplace.dndbeyond.com, the place that is linked directly from D&D Beyond's homepage
I can access the digital book in my web browser on PC with no issue
Also, did a sale literally just start today, the day after I bought the book?
That's mean :(
wouldn't have affected my purchase in particular, but still
If there's a sale, that's news to me. 😅
I am possibly misremembering things
If you go to this page, though, does it say whether your account entitlements are in sync?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/licenses
It said my entitlements were not in sync
This fixed my problem! Thank you, Moderator!
I'm not sure if I should post this in support or feedback, but I just realized that the "Vehicles" section that used to be under the Game Rules tab was removed in the redesign. Is there any way to access the page for viewing the vehicles stat blocks as compendium content anymore, or is the only way to find one now by going into the book it was published in and pulling up its page?
It's accessible from the equipment section
The "item" descriptions are, but not the stat blocks, as far as I can tell
Oh I see it now. In the top right there is a button for "view vehicles"
Thank you for the help
no worries
Hey I need help deleting an account
The problem i have is that I don't have access to the email anymore
Ya it has a dnd subscription that I can cancel plus there is nothing on there so no point in keeping it its just using my money and I don't get the benifits
D&D Beyond customer support can be contacted at the link below. Requests are answered in the order they're received. Submitting multiple requests for the same issue can result in a delayed response.

Does DND Beyond usually take a while to realise you have access to stuff?
I bought the digital version of Dragons of Stormwreck Isle and I can read the adventure but when I mouse over a lot of the stuff it says "this is part of a the digital content pack, visit marketplace to see purchasing options."
I've tried refresing & closing the page and reopening it.
It usually takes 15 minutes or so to sync on its own, but you can force it to sync by clicking "Sync Entitlements" on this page: https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/licenses
ah amazing, that worked. Thank you!
is there any way to artificially increase a custom action? like increasing it's to hit bonus
No. The right way to do this, annoyingly, is to add an item with 2d6 damage dice (ie. greatsword) to your inventory and then edit the action created when you use that. You can customize the item to be more of an "activator" than an actual item. Unfortunately, you'll just have to remember that it actually does psychic damage.
Alternatively, you could homebrew a greatsword that does psychic damage and then add that, but it's a lot more work just to get this to function properly enough.
Are monster images broken for anyone else? https://www.dndbeyond.com/monsters/3883560-septon-modron
Seems to be working for me.
hello
Hey there. Did you need help with D&D Beyond?
con someone help me build a " gilded druid circle "?https://www.google.com/search?q=guilded+druid+dnd&oq=guilded+druid+dnd&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUyBggAEEUYOTIJCAEQIRgKGKABMgkIAhAhGAoYoAEyCQgDECEYChigATIJCAQQIRgKGKABMgkIBRAhGAoYoAEyBwgGECEYqwLSAQg2NTQwajBqN6gCALACAA&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#fpstate=ive&vld=cid:caf71f0d,vid:g2ndVYh8zXw,st:0
Hey,
I hope this is the right place to ask. I wanted to create an Artificer character in D&DB but can't choose the class. My DM is sharing Tasha's Cauldron of Everything with me, I even actually just bought it myself as well. What am I missing?
On the character builder home screen make sure Expanded Rules is turned on
Thanks, I actually turned on everything on that page with no luck.
I just logged out and in again and now I can see the class. Thanks!
Not sure if this is the right place to post:
Hey, I've built a character from D&D beyond but I'm looking to upgrade the armour, weapons, spells and any technology the character uses to fit the Modern/Digital Era as listed on this page: https://fastcharacter.com/5emodern.htm
How can I modify my character sheet? We start at Level 5 this Friday.
There was a premade Corvum sheet available on D&D beyond which I began editing but ideally I like the race to be a Corvum as opposed to Tiefling mentioned on the sheet. Do I just edit the 'RACE' field for this or are there more edits I need to make?
Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) Fifth Edition (5e) Character Creator
Is there any news on this one
?
Hi there, I just used the code provided by my game store (I'm running the 50th Anniversary series for them), and while the code was claimed successfully, and...
Sorry, I can't seem to open your links
I don’t believe that’s been released yet.
- Firearms are already available on the character sheet (though you may want to add proficiency by clicking “Proficiencies & Languages”.
- If you want to use any of those subclasses, you’ll have to add them as homebrew.
- It’s not possible to rename skills, but you could add new ones by clicking “Skills”.
- If you want to change your race, you can do that in the character builder. You’ll need Humblewood Content enabled for that character to use a Corvum.
You need help building it on D&D Beyond? You’d have to add it as a homebrew subclass.
If you meant something other than D&D Beyond, #character-discussion can help.
That's odd. It seems to open for me. Try this: https://fastcharacter.com/ or google 'fast character dnd' and the link should show
Is there a way to modify movement speed in dndbeyond?
Yeah, just click on your speed and then you can adjust it in the sidebar.
Ah, that works on my PC, just not on my phone, thanks.
I purchased "One grung above" and wanted to use it in the character builder but it didn't appear, so i searched it up and all it said was to toggle the Noncore source option but when i went to do that it wasn't there.
It's now under "Legacy Content".
i also have that enabled aswell though
You either need to wait ~15 minutes for it to automatically sync your entitlements or manually sync them in your Account > Licenses page.
If you check this page, does it say whether your account entitlements are in sync?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/licenses
it says that they are in sync
And it shows the book on that same page under "Current Product Licenses"?
Huh. Never heard of an adblocker blocking character options before, but glad you figured it out!
I just redeemed a code to access the "Uni Search for the Lost Horn" adventure. I rcvd a "success" message, but I cannot find the adventure in my account.
Can you help? Many thanks.
I don't believe it's been released yet.
I haven't been able to find a specific date for it either.
But it's supposed to be playable at PAX starting tomorrow, so maybe then?
Are you able to share/transfer characters from one DDB account to another?
if you add a a character to a campaign, and then unassign it, someone else in the campaign can claim it
just keep in mind that the character will be gone from your account, and unless they do the same, you cant get it back
Neat! Thanks 👍
The notice from Wizards Play Network said the adventure would "go live" on August 29th. I'm a DM who is running it on Sept 3; got the code from WPN.
Fair enough. Let me see if I can get some more info, then.
Is anyone good at making homebrew subclasses on ddb?
You would have better luck saying what you need help with.
But the best help is to copy an official sub-class to see how its done.
It should be very easy. You just make a copy of any existing circle as homebrew and then copy and paste the text from the MCDM source over the initial text. This doesn't appear to have any particularly noteworthy features that would impede homebrew.
It took me 12 hours to make a race once and it was horrible lol
Also even if you pay someone to make it on DnD beyond they wont be able to publish it due to copyright laws
Just start by getting the class features in at the right levels, each with a Description and a Snippet.
Then try it out on a character and see what you want to adjust.
And if you're not sure how to make those adjustments, then we can help.
Honestly didn’t know you could do all that, thank you!
Thanks! I really appreciate it!
I'm chill for the next 48 hours. But I'd certainly like to get a peek at it before I run it 🙂
I'd ask the folks at the store, but they are not at all familiar with Beyond.
6Y6ZE9-GE532
Following the steps they indicated, it appears everything is directing to the correct places, so theres not really a way to tell if this was just user error or some actual shenanigans in the marketplace/email. given that there is no 2024 rulebook bundle for all three books currently available outside the US, and the 2014 bundle is a different price. this person likely misread the email, or is experiencing a typo, but they can easily check account entitlements to see if they have the correct books
Thanks for checking!
thats how the page is already set up, new stuff at the top
How would I make a Tabaxi in the character builder? I don’t see it in the race list, and I don’t see how to add it from the Marketplace
you have to purchase the entire book for access, there sadly no more individual item purchases
theres also tabaxi in volos guide, but i dont think they sell it anywhere anymore
Darn. $30 is a little steep for a Tabaxi. Thanks though!
or you can recreate it in the homebrew tools, if its just for personal use
there is no 3 book bundle for non US customers, but the individual book/digital bundles are all at the top
Cleaned up my feedback to remove commentary
Edit; thanks for everyone’s time today! Mean well and appreciate the mods.
I assume it has to do with shipping and VAT, since the books will all ship seperately, so they may not be able to offer that bundle outside the US. but im unsure if theres official word on the why
I feel I am being treated unfairly disconcertingly. According to my disability. Please, instead of just punishing me. Can we actually use the appeal system? And work out the problem?
you probably are looking for #moderator-support we cant help you with that here

hmm, i thought the uni hunt for the horn was out today, i put in the key the other day and its on my licences but i cant find it anywhere
one of the mods has requested info about this, but we havent heard anything yet
As of right now - we don't know and are awaiting further information.
Same here.
I suppose this is The Hunt for The Hunt for the Horn 😜
I have a player who is physically and mentaly disabled to the point where he has to use computers to communicate, which means that anything that he does or is created by an artificial intelligence. This is completely against the rules and he has been punished for doing so. Law states access for all disabled. Now has 10 points against him for the use of this Disability Aid. 5 for the use. 5 for trying to appeal.
no one ever got back to him it has been a week.
Is there a way to pre-order the 2014 players guide in digital format on D&D Beyond? When I click digital on the site it just switches back over to the physical option? I live in an efficiency appartment and don't have room for a lot of books 😦
Sorry I mean the 2024 players guide
Again, this is not the appropriate channel, go to #moderator-support
I need some major help. My DM introduced oversized weapons due to us facing minotaurs. I wanted to use it, so we discussed what damage that would and the limitations since the DMG PHB or any other source doesn't spell it out in black and white. I'm trying to craft it using +1 greatsword as the base. He said the great axe would do 3d6 (instead of the normal 2d12) for a medium creature with disadvantage unless you have at least 16 strength.
How do I modify the programed 2d6 of the greatsword to be a 3d6? Is there an easier way to apply this damage if I you build it from scratch?
I can get it to say 3d6 damage as a description feature, but it doesn't change for the damage on the action page
you just choose the digital option on the page for the handbook
you cant modify the base damage of weapons on dndbeyond
you could probably do a custom action on the sheet for that damage though
When I click digital it clicks back over to physical automatically without letting me pick digital
I'm on DnD beyond already, trying to craft it. I'm asking how you adjust that.
try clearing your cache and then try it, maybe turn off extensions and ad blockers
Thanks, I didn't think of that but I'll give it a try.
you cant adjust it, the tools dont support it
You can't even do it from scratch, their no way to do it?
the damage will always be whatever the base weapons damage is
you can however make a custom action directly on the sheet to reflect what you are trying to do
Tried it with a different browser, works on Chrome not on Firefox. Not sure what the problem was but thanks for the help 😄
That's an unfortunate oversite. They should really have fleshed out stats for at least large category weapons by now. It's the only real increase a martial class can ever get to hope to compete with the damage output of your magic allies, even then it's peanuts to 60-100 damage on the regular. They should really work on that.
At least give the option in homebrew.
if i bought tashas cauldron of everything digital book, do i have to fully read it to unlock the content inside of it, or do digital books not unlock content? i tried seeing if the subclasses from it were there in the character creator but only the core rule subclasses were showing up, and i had all the content turned on
i mean, if you make the custom action on the sheet, you can make the damage whatever you like...
they sent me here
I'll try and dig deeper, I wasn't able to find that section
its not in the homebrew tools, but on the sheet itself. go to action, in the top right itll say manage custom
I'm passing this of to you to deal with.
please read the channel description. this is for getting help using the dndbeyond site, we cannot speak to discord rules, legal information, etc etc. Go To #moderator-support
this has happen in d&d beyond. what do i do? I will not go to jail for you.
stop referring me to each other to deal with this. you say go here they say go back.
this is D7D beyond account for support with the game right?\
i got it to work i just had to install it on my phone my bad
On the website, you might need to check entitlements are in sync, sometimes it can be a bit slow after purchase
I appreciate the help, still can't get it to display on my sheet. We play on paper and use the digital as a sort of reference, I'll just tell my DM it doesn't seem to be possible.
It displays in the custom menu, but not on the sheet. No way to interact or digitally roll with it. It's too bad.
hmm, if you set it up correctly it should show and be usable. what exactly are you trying to set up? just a regular greatsword with an extra damage die?
So the question I have is as being a Canadian is there anyway for me to buy the preorder bundle and get all the extras or can I just buy the three books and digital separate.
I believe its been confirmed if you buy all three on the wizards store and redeem them on DDB, you get all the extras, but i would wait for a mod or someone to confirm that to be safe
price-wise, the discounts add up to be the same if you bundle all three, or buy all three bundles, so you dont miss out there
D&D beyond has sent me here again. Playing the carousel game with paying costumers we need want answers.
bot can not answer that is the use of AI. i want a person to discuss this. pinning bot answers again AI.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/bugs-support/199805-what-no-digital-rewards-for-uk-eu-customers#c7 from a Moderator, on the forums
These issues can not be ignored. i will keep asking for a person to discus this. bots are not human and the fed, state, and city law states the can not be used to abuse a disabled person. i will not drop this problem. So to protect myself, I now leave you with the responsibility of the player. It is now not my problem. I am not responsible.
@misty field whatever issue you are having can't be help by members of the community, which myself and Nofton are.
You best bet would be to ask for a private thread in #moderator-support but understand the mods of this Discord server can only moderate things that happen in this server.
Are there even any rules on using AI along with DnD Beyond?
I know there are rules against it in this discord server.
But I'm not sure about the website.
Because I thought that the only rule about AI that we have to follow is not to post AI content in this server specifically.
you cant post it in the forums either, otherwise, there are no other rules about it
I am guessing about what might have happened, but dndbeyond has some protection on it where it will deny access if it suspects you are a bot.
the original post was something about points, so im assuming someone shared AI generated content either here or on the forum, which could result in a three day ban, unless they just kept doing it and got banned longer
I'm also confused as to why this person thinks they'll get in trouble with the law for this. Pretty sure the law allows people to use AI for games.
All i can advise is they go to #moderator-support , as this has nothing to do with getting help using the site as far as i can tell. that or put in a support ticket
either way, its not something the community is likely going to help with, which is the purpose of this channel
I hope they can get some help with it, it sounds like there may be some misunderstanding going on at several points. At the end of the day, I'm sure no one wants anyone to have a bad time.
So will I have access to 2024 rules and classes even if I didn't buy the books? Or will I have to buy the books? I'm fairly new to DND and I can't really spend 40-60$ just to buy a book which I then can't share because I don't have master tier subscription.
Which sucks because I wanna play with my friends and DM for them but I'm limited in the classes and everything they could choose as I only have the default free classes and subclasses available.
You will have to buy the books
If I buy the physical book, how will I be able to use it on DND beyond?
?books
There are four ways to access content on D&D Beyond that you may have in your physical books
- Purchase the full digital book from the marketplace
- Purchase a digital/physical bundle from the marketplace
- Join a DnDBeyond campaign with someone who already owns the book where content sharing has been enabled
- Use the homebrew tools to copy the content from your physical book into D&D Beyond. Note: Do not publish any content copied in this way, it is for personal use only
Hey all, is there anyway I can see a character’s sheet after they’ve been removed from dndbeyond? We had a disagreement in our group and one person has left the campaign and removed the character sheet
Just wanted to see what magic items he had so I can disperse them amongst the remaining players
Hello, If I have the 2024 PHB, can other people in my campaign have access to it? access to the items and spells ?
If the DnDBeyond campaign has someone with a Master Tier subscription and if they've enabled content sharing, then yes, you could share the DnDBeyond 2024 Players Handbook with those in that DnDBeyond campaign.
No - if a user has withdrawn a character from a DnDBeyond campaign, you would not be able to see what that character has (unless said character was made public and you had the URL to that specific character).
Did you check “Display as Attack”?
Looks like WotC decided not to use the codes, which certainly explains why the codes aren't working!
UPDATE: The Wizards Play Network Team has made a change to how you will receive the character sheets and adventure supporting your 50th Anniversary Play Series – 2024 Player's Handbook event. Instead of your Dungeon Masters activating the codes you previously received on D&D Beyond, we are instead providing you with a PDF file for download via e-mail. Our password protected PDF contains both character sheets needed for the event and the adventure itself.
@primal mortar @fickle palm FYI ☝️
Thanks for letting us all know!
Yeah, thanks. I hope they might even deliver on that.
Ahh ok I'll follow up with the boss at the store
I bet he's just gonna hit print on it and hand me when I get into the shop tonight
I hope that the adventure becomes available to others after the event. I would possibly like to run a version of it with my group.
I did. After stepping away and coming back, I scrolled down the actions page and it was displayed under an "Other" category instead of with the rest of my attack actions.
Look for a field called Activiation Type.
now it's in the right place. Thanks
Wish they made the rules on weapons that are larger than medium clearer, or at least stated what the official RAW is supposed to be. For now, this works.
anyone ever have an issue of buying a digital book and then in character builder the stuff from the book not being available?
currently my issue is I bought Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft and trying to make an undead warlock but it's not showing up
Can you check here to see if your account entitlements are in sync?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/licenses
You'll also need "Expanded Rules" turned on in your character settings.
But if everything's set correctly, you should see it in the race selector under "Lineages".
man you are awesome, just needed to resync
thanks so much
never had that happen before, I appreciate it!
I got the files from my local game store!
Hi if i preorder the 2024 Players handbook, do i get it on sept 4th instead or is it too late for that?
Preorders are open until September 3-4 I believe. You could contact customer service to confirm.
Preorders are available until the book’s launch on Sept. 17.
Master Tier subscribers who have preordered get early access starting Sept 3.
Hero Tier starts Sept. 10.
sweet ty
was worried as there was no info i could find about it lol
heyy yall when i try to click on my players character sheet in the campaign, it just refreshes the page. does anyone know how to fix this? ty <3
This their character set to private by chance?
he said no, getting him to check to make sure
his profile isnt private he said, and its happening with all my other players too :(
When you mouse over it, it shows the campaign link in the bottom left corner.
So it seems like the correct behavior for the link that’s there, but I have no idea why it would be the wrong link to begin with. 🤔
Does the Edit button work?
Do you get the same issue in another browser or on another device?
the edit button doesnt work, just refreshes the page
i tried opening their sheets in MS edge but it did the same thing :(
Does your player have the same issue?
he said it works for him
this is also a consiistent thing - we tried doing this exact thing like a year ago and ran into the same issue 😭
Very strange 🧐
I’d recommend contacting customer support for this one. Maybe they can take a look under the hood and see what’s going on.
?tag ddb support
D&D Beyond customer support can be contacted at the link below. Requests are answered in the order they're received. Submitting multiple requests for the same issue can result in a delayed response.
http://dndbeyond.link/SubmitTicket
ty heaps <33 im submitting a ticket now
I just bought Strixhaven, but can't see any of its stuff on the Character Builder.
I read online that you had to enable Magic: the Gathering content, but that appears to no longer be an option to enable.
Any ideas on how to enable the content? (My enabled content for reference)
That one’s now part of “Expanded Rules”.
But can you check here to see whether your account entitlements are in sync?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/licenses
got a question about Maps, I have content sharing on my campaign but it says I cannot access some tokens because they are not in my library, is this an error or something changed because I used to be able to do it, (one of my players shared Volo with me and I cant use any tokens from Volo on maps)
I believe you need to own it yourself to use it in Maps.
Im not sure if this has been mentioned in the past. But why can't I choose a maneuver when using Superior Technique fighting style?
I also dont get a counter for it
Unlike the Martial Adept feat
The short answer is technical limitations.
But you could make a homebrew copy of Martial Adept and use that.
I have bought the three pack of 2024 rules, used the code for the digital download but don't see them anywhere, I understand that they have not been released yet but its just weird that I have nothing saying I have them.
They should at least show here under Current Product Licenses:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/licenses
thanks they are there!
it worked before, did they change something with maps or content sharing?
As far as I know, that’s always been the case.
Shared content has never been accessible in the Maps beta
It definitely worked, I have monsters on a map that I cant access now, redcaps from Volos
No, it didn't. I would know as I've been the one helming the Maps functionality articles on D&D Beyond
Redcaps are also found in MOTM.
well how come I could acces the tokens and now I cant, I definetely have them on my map lol
and I want to add more and I cant, I dont have any books
different example with the giant ooze, I had at some point, its on the map, and I cant add it again
Your entitlements may have glitched, allowing you to add tokens you shouldn't have been able to. All I can say is the currently intended behaviour is the shared content isn't usable
can we make that glitch permanent? 😉
I am the new dm for this group, and their forever dm has all he content and he shared with me so he can play, doesnt make sense we have to buy all tha again?
I didn’t realize that Maps doesn’t support normal content sharing. I need to go submit some feedback on that right away.
Hello!
We had a break during the summer, and are going back into it tomorrow. However. We are experiencing an issue where the GM cant access the player character sheets anymore.
She is getting booted back to the "My Characters" page

Any suggestion on how to get this fixed?
She is trying to access the player sheets by going into the campaign, then clicking view on the respectable characters.
if I create a campaign (and therefore am the DM of said campaign)
is it possible for me to add one of my characters into the campaign in order to assign it to a player, or no?
I see options for creating unassigned characters, but not adding an existing one in
Yeah, just use the same invite link you’d give your players.
ah I see, thank you
dice rolls aren't working, idk why. not a pressing issue.. but its partly impeded my session
Can you try clearing your browser cache and restarting your browser and trying it again?
I can not recreate the issue with any of my characters - dice rolls are showing up fine for me.
@edgy oriole Do you have any idea what could be causing this? #ddb-support message
Not sure what's happening there - I'd have everyone in that campaign clear their browser cache and restart their browsers. Also have them all go to https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/licenses and make sure their entitlements are in sync.
I can access the players character sheets on my "player" account. Not on the GM account. I've cleared browser cache.
Did you ensure your entitlements are in sync yet?
Yes, both player and gm account say
Your entitlements data is in sync! You should have nothing to worry about, but contact our Support Team if you're having problems accessing your purchased content.```
Hmmm. Then I'm not sure what's causing this wonkiness. I'd contact Customer Support.
I'll give that a go. Thanks
In what way are they not working?
I had Beyond 20 active earlier but I am not worried about it rn as I have alternative dice rolling solutions
DnDBeyond and Roll20 do not support Beyond20 - that's a 3rd party extension.
Anyone know how to apply a custom movement penalty on DnDBeyond’s iOS Mobile App? I have a character I’ve made and my DM and I have agreed that, even though he’s a Warforged, him being the height of a Dwarf will incur a penalty to give it a 25 foot movement speed instead of the standard 30 feet.
Or will I just have to work with it being something in my notes?
Never mind. I found how to customize it via “View on Website” option.
Hey, Spell Mastery and Signature Spells aren't working, even after preparing level 1, 2, and 3 spells.
Can anyone help?
Anyone know if there are people in the support department working on sundays?
It might be unlikely. I would guess they are typically office hours, 9-5, Monday to Friday
Yep, I was hoping they might. We play on sundays and only first found the bug yesterday :S
You can ask for help here and someone in the community might be able to help. I don't know what your issue is
#ddb-support message Mods have tried, but if you have any suggestion I'm more than willing to try
Is there a reason that custom backgrounds take longer to update on the sheet?
I know it's a known issue and that it will udpate at some point, but I was wondering if we knew the reason
Not certain if this is the right spot, but I received a promo code from the LGS for an adventure module. The module is showing blank.
Also, when building a custom background and choosing the background feature of one that would give a feat, you are required to manually add the feat to your character sheet, as it does not add it correctly from the background when done this way.
I’d assume it’s a caching issue, but I don’t think anyone here actually knows for sure.
Not sure on that one specifically.
But that’s the guidance for homebrew, at least.

The Lost Horn one? Your store should have received a PDF instead.
Yeah, I think manually adding the feat is the recommended solution at the moment.
Not sure how/if that will change with the new PHB in a couple days.
Can someone help me please?
I have the book Monsters of the Multiverse shared with me by one of my players in our campaign but I'm not able to add the monsters from this book on the DnDBeyond Maps.
Am I obliged to buy the book myself?
I believe you need to own the book yourself to use it in Maps.
Thank you, I will check with them today.
Anyone know if we will be able to migrate our old character sheets to the new "rule set" that comes with the new books? Or do we have to recreate them all?
Unclear, since the plan they shared last week has changed.
But I imagine you’ll have to manually convert everything if desired.
My player can't find the Crossbow Expert feat.
I upgraded to master tier on DDB so I could share content with my players. Tested maps for the very first time. Used the fog paintbrush tool, and it was super laggy. Other functions seem to work fine, as I tested them. Has anyone else experienced that?
Can you share a link to the character?
Do you have Hardware Acceleration enabled in your browser settings?
I will check it out
https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/115151353
Actually, that's funny. I can see it clearly on the Features and Traits tab of the character sheet, but it shows as unselected in the edit menu.
If they’ve added the feat somewhere else, that would explain why it can’t be selected now.
They must have added it manually on the character sheet, then confused themselves trying to clear the ! on the edit menu.
Looks like they just manually added it to their sheet, by clicking “Manage Feats” in your last screenshot.
I have now bought the book and it still doesn't allow me to add the token on the map
Can you check here to see if your account entitlements are in sync?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/licenses
now it works, thanks!
Helloo, can the 2014 Dungeon Master's Guide Digital Version be opened in a Kindle?
If a Kindle can use a web browser to log into DNDB or install the app, yes, but otherwise no.
I see, thank you!
Items such as Arrows, +3 are not applying the +3 bonus to hit and damage rolls while equipped in dndbeyond
is this a known issue, and do we have a solution that's not "just manually add the value"
Hey friends!
I have recently purchased the Sourcebook to have access to the Way of the Ascendant Dragon subclass but I cant seem to use it on any of the characters I have on D&D beyond! Any help would be much appreciated thanks!
make sure your account entitlements are in sync
How does one do this? Thanks for getting back so quickly!
^
Thank you!
Ok so the book is listed under licences so it is there
Ah i found the little sync button!
Hello! I was going to run the adventure "Uni and the Hunt for the Horn" for an upcoming event, but the key code led to a page that said "this adventure cannot be found"
You are a hero, all fixed!
Your store should have received a PDF instead.

That’s a known issue.
ok cool. solution is to just manually add the bonuses to the weapon I'd be attacking with then?
Yeah
Is there a way to make Signature Spells and Spell Mastery work?
Even after picking the spells to prepare, I don't see the option.
Strange. I’m not able to select anything there either.
I’ll pass it along to the team for review.
Thank you! Sounds like a weird glitch that I recently found out.
Hey! I just bought Ebon Tides on DnD Beyond and it isn’t popping up the options in character creation. Is that a glitch or is it supposed to be that way?
Hello all, I have a question and I hope this is the right spot for it. I purchased the Grim Hollow: Players Pack from the marketplace. There is a bow: Bow of Four and I am trying to add it to a character but can't seem ti find it. How do I add it or do I have to make a homebrew/custom one? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I keep getting the "are you human page" thing, I have turned off all extensions that could cause issues, and I am still getting them, I have gotten so far 10 times, with 1 roughly every 2-5 hours give or take, I checked my cookies as well so its not that... idk what keeps tripping the security system on DDB, can someone help me figure this out as these pages are annoying while trying to edit homebrew, among other things?
Do you have Grim Hollow Content enabled for that character?
Are your account entitlements in sync?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/licenses
Try disabling all extensions, even if you don’t think they’d be the cause.
If that solves the issue, you can re-enable them one by one until you find the culprit.
Are you using a VPN or any security software like Kaspersky?
I have double checked and yes I do. I have tried toggling off, come back in about 10 minutes and toggling it back on.
no, also I found my entitlements out of sync so I fixed that will see if that fixed if not then I will come back and try something else, as the only extensions left are the built in ones like google docs offline. As for security I use Vipre and it has never caused an issue. (its my antivirus, so turning it off is out of the question)
Were your entitlements in sync?
You might also check if you get the same issue in another browser or on another device. That could help identify the scope of the issue.
(I don't think syncing entitlements will help in your case.)
I went under my current product licenses and says purchase, is there another area I should check? I have checked in my campaign and it shows enabled.
