Content sharing.

I had a previous campaign with some players and recently enabled content sharing i have asked them to make new characters as we are going to start waterdeep. However they say that the only domain accessible for cleric in character creation is life which considering I have xanathers means that content sharing didn't work. Or am I just missing something?

The character needs to be either made in the campaign, or edited while in the campaign, otherwise shared content will not be accessible

Some things that can trigger the suspicious behaviour blocker

• Extensions and plugins, especially those that modify site data
• VPN or similar traffic routing software
• ISPs with rate limiting or packet inspection
• Having too many tabs open at once/performing too many different site actions in a short span of time
• Rapidly switching IP address while accessing the site (for example, using different devices or coming off and on VPN)

I have no idea what that sentence was intending to ask, but the app tends to focus on newly released books or books that have already been released. I don't see preorders through the app typically. I don't think there's really a "rule of thumb" here or anything, though, and believe it's curated by WOTC.

Hey, I'm trying to make a magic weapon for one of my PCs, and I can't figure something out.

So I'm making a dagger that deals an extra 1d6 psychic damage on a hit, in addition to the 1d4 that a dagger normally does. Is there any way to make it automatically roll the 1d6 when you click to roll for damage on DDB? I went and added a 1d6 damage modifier, but my player still has to manually roll the 1d6, as the dagger won't do it on its own for some reason.

I am trying to Homebrew a Magic Item, starting with a copy of Mithral Armor. However, the Homebrew system does not allow the armor STR requirement to be set to 0, despite this being the default when copying Mithral. Am I missing something, or should just set the STR requirement to 1, and move on?

Homebrew is only made available if it's in someones collection or creations. It'll be worth double checking that one of your players hasn't saved or created something and that's what's being shared

You don't 'use' books in a campaign, you just make a campaign and name it Dragon of Icespire Peak (or whatever you want)

This mechanic is mostly to give my undead player a method to be healed since undead is unaffected by most healing spells. I felt it most reasonable to give this ability to myself.

I'd recommend taking a look at something that already exists that does something similar mechanically in DnDBeyond (e.g. something with a limited pool of charges). Make a copy of it with the homebrew tools and take a look at how it's set up and use that info to help you when building your feat.

But I can't figure out how to just add it to their spell list. My eldritch knight has Fey Touched. When I use my character sheet, "use" doesn't turn into "cast" after that initial free use of my feat spells.

Despite the feat saying that after the free use of each spell once a day, I can use my spell slots

The character sheet system doesn't have that functionality, you'll just need to mark off the spell slots manually (and use the 'use' button for rolls)

For context, the sheet originally would populate such spells into both a Use button and Cast button, the latter of which would use spell slots

However, majority feedback on this was negative and so the double instance of such spells was removed

Cast and Use function the exact same way except Cast deducts a spell slot

What that exact function entails depends on the spell itself, if it's a damage spell that'll trigger dice rolling for example

I’m working on a Homebrew subclass for artificer, galvanist. It has a three part ability, charge, starts at zero and goes up each turn to it class level. a lightning blast similar to arcane jolt xd8, x equals the charge count. It will explode if any d8s are the same for the same amount rolled in the blast at a 10ft radius. For the life of me I can’t figure out how to set this up lol

I have the Ritual Caster (Wizard) feat on my level 10 Cleric, so she had up to 5th level spells available for her to learn. My DM gave me these spells as a list of known spells for my character and I have added them. However, outside of this section where they are selected, only my first three 1st level spells (Find Familiar, Identify, and Comprehend Languages) are shown, and when I go to my main spells tab, only Comprehend Languages is actually visible out of all of them with the "Ritual Caster (Wizard)" tag. Is there something I'm doing wrong or is this some kind of bug?

It's most likely the cached data. This is information stored to allow the app to load more quickly but it's very easy to corrupt the cache, causing it to not load at all (this is why the cache is the bane of all apps and websites)

We have invited 3 people to join our campaign for a game night, as a few regulars can't be there we've decided to do a one-shot with the new guys.

I will be creating 3 pre-gen characters for them to play so they can experience the game.

We would like to not force them to setup DDB accounts etc, but rather they just show up and play the game, if they want to continue with us we then set everything up.

Is it possible that we create a new campaign with just DM and me (player) inside, I then create characters for everyone and on the night, everyone is just logged in with my account to play.

Basicly I'm asking if we can do such a "try-out-game" from one login or if we will be hit by a "no account sharing" system.

(I'm aware of them being logged in allows them to look/manipulate my other chars etc, I'm okay with that part).

As an alternative, can I create carecters, add them to a campaing and then transfer them to another player?

(They then setup an account, but the char is ready for them without time spend on creation)

You can do this transfer of characters by making an unassigned characters in the campaign and having the new players claim the one they want after they set up an account and join with the campaign link.

Yeah figured it wasn't the way.. But the unassigned char feature means our guest only have to create an account and nothing else, and that works . The importan thing is we don't start with a 3 hour "you have to choose languages" session, but they get straight into playing - And hopefully falling in love with the game 🙂

Runeshaper is very broken on DNDBeyond. It doesn't allow upcasting and I can select 3 spells at level 6, which is what I should be getting with a +6 proficiency from what I've read. I acquired it through the Rune Carver background.

I have a lot of cases where I want to handwave a house rule away with some specific flavor. Like I have a character who's playing a draconic bloodline sorcerer and I want to flavor it as an infernal bloodline instead, so all that would change would be flavor text? But I want the player's sheet in DDB to actually show the alternate flavor

But - when I go to pick my race/subrace on my character sheet, it won't let me; the only options of elf subraces are High Elf, Wood Elf and Eldarin. I've searched the Marketplace to see if I need something from there to be able to pick the subrace, but couldn't find anything. And then I checked the "Races" page for Elf, and that lists Drow as a subrace (in addition to High, Wood, Eldarin and others), so I'm confused as to why I'm not able to pick it in the character builder?

Because XP is based on your character level, not class level

If you're character is a Wizard 5 / Fighter 2, they need enough XP to go from level 7 to level 8 in order to level up, at which point you choose which class that level goes into

As I am the DM, I would ask the players to add their modifier themselves, and they are on the app on the phone.

A DnDBeyond Campaign is a tool to organize the digital DnDBeyond character sheets connected to the campaign (so the DM can review and see them) and provides a shared game log (which can be connected to Discord through Avrae the Discord bot - see #ddb-avrae-help for more info). You don't "play" inside the DnDBeyond campaign per se. You'd play D&D normally - DM could refer to the adventure book in DnDBeyond in a different browser window/tab while monitoring the character sheets and shared game log in the DnDBeyond Campaign screen and then could have tokens and maps using the DnDBeyond Maps tool.
As to how to connect a character sheet to a campaign, the DM (person who created the campaign) should send you a campaign invite link. This link can be found near the top right in the campaign screen, right before the listing of characters in the campaign. Going to the campaign sharing link will prompt the user to select a character to connect/add to that campaign or to select from characters already in that campaign that have not been claimed. Hope this helps!

Something to also check is if they toggled the right toggles in the character management to enable certain types of content (e.g. Magic the Gathering, Non-core D&D, etc.)

But to access shared content in a DnDBeyond campaign, the character does need to be built inside that camapign.

Issue is I own content, the options are not showing up when I attempt to use them. Options in character are all checked on for content. I've done everything on my end to resolve the issue and my entitlements are marked as synched. I need some help.

Even went so far to attempt to purchase the content again on the marketplace and when I checked out it switched it to gift and charged me $15 now will have to put in a refund request as I didn't want to apply them as gifts.

Hopefully you got the information you needed. Just in case, go to homebrew and copy a similar monster, then just name it to the PC and upload the avatar. You can then use it in encounter builder and maps. When referencing it's abilities, just use the character sheet from a different window.

I use an excel spreadsheet to track initiative and some player stats. It's tedious having to open up my player's character sheets to update content manually like their AC or Stats whenever they change so I'm trying to write a script that would parse this information from their character sheet. I'm getting 403 forbidden errors or Capcha. Does anyone know a way around this restriction or if there is some kind of API access I can get? I would only be making 1 request per player no more than once a week.

Hello I'm dm for a small group of players just starting a new campaign yet I can't use benefits from my subscription and share all my books could you help me out? Is there a limit of how many campaigns I can share my content with (I have content sharing on 4 campaigns at that point)

Additional Magical Secrets is a 6th level Bard feature
At that level, your highest spell slot is 3rd
Shadow of Moil is a 4th level spell
You cannot select 4th level spells when you get Additional Magical Secrets and you can't delay selecting your spell until higher levels

I'm trying to create custom "feats" that my players can add if they have certain spells active. Things like a Longstrider "feat" that increases their speed by 10, to help remember it's active and have the correct speed show up on the character sheet.
One of the spells I'm considering adding is Haste, for which I'm wondering: is it possible to have a feat double a character's speed? I know I can add 30, but that only works for characters that have base 30.

i don't believe there is a modifierto just double move speed. also, you may have a better time making items that give those temp effects, since they can easily equip or uneqiup them to get the effect

Is there any reason to why I can add spells and cantrips to a character I have assigned to myself in my campaign, but when I try to modify one of my players character under the Character Builder as their DM, I cannot? I have been able to do that previously, example, I can still give any of my players the sunsword magical item from Curse of Strahd, even though I am the only one that owns the Sourcebook content.

As a DM, I would expect you to be able to give a character in a campaign with content sharing enabled any item you're actively sharing with them. That worked correctly for me as of last week.

thats what I was trying to address earlier. I do not own a subscription for content sharing. Up until this point I have been able to purchase piecemeal (now completely gone) and full sourcebooks and give it to my players when needed. Meaning I would never need to pay the subscription fee and my players didnt need to pay for each individual piece of content they would like to use. Now I fear bringing this to light would mean I lose this function that I have been using without paying subscription and be forced to pay the subscription 😦

There are other ways to achieve what you're doing, though. Before I owned every book, I would use a campaign to transfer a character to another player who owned everything, they'd set it up, then they'd transfer it back to me using the same campaign, all without content sharing enabled. It's still remarkably annoying working with a character this way, though, so it's probably inconvenient enough that it's not a big deal.

I had to switch between my player being assigned the charater to myself, then back again once I added the specific cantrip. My issue is that this works for everything but the cantrips I can add for the high elf racial trait. subclasses, races, magical items, feats, etc. I can add all of those without the loopholes

If i make the character myself I can use all the cantrips I own. But I try to edit the Character builder for one of my players characters. who is an exact copy, it doesnt work
