Check out #find-a-game! It has all the information you need :)
Oh ty : D
How is my homebrew has views on it when it's not even published?
Homebrew in your collection is automatically shared with anyone you're in a campaign with.
Homebrew is automatically added to your collection when you create it
thnx
Hey, I've been working on a homebrew race for a character of mine, and I'm having a lot of trouble figuring out how to actually implement the ideas I have. There's so many dropdown menus and vague explanations that it all feels really intimidating. So if someone could help me out, maybe walk me through what to do and where to go, (and maybe help me with refining and balancing my ideas, but that's not necessary,) that would be greatly appreciated.
The best general advice is to find something official that works similarly to yours. Then you can make a homebrew copy of it and see exactly how they set it up.
Where exactly are you stuck, though?
Actually, I'm gonna quickly try this, but I'll be back to get any help if I need it.
Hi, wondering whether anyone can point me in the right direction. I want the party to play games of chance, and was wondering if there was an online multiplayer dice roller that supports hiding and unhiding individual rolls? E.g. first roll is public, second, third, and fourth are hidden, last is public, and at the end of that round all of the hidden dice become public?
Is that something that Avrae can support? I read the docs but didn't see anything that would allow hiding and later revealing a roll.
#ddb-avrae-help or the avrae dev server would be the place to ask
Thanks, I'll try that. Any other dice rollers that may have this capability?
This channel is for getting help using D&D Beyond site, tools, and services. You might want to try #third-party-tools-archive
How do I go into one of my player's character sheets and give them a spell beyond what they can cast normally?
Right, and DDB has its own dice roller that can hide rolls, but I'm guessing it can't do this either.
They could set the roll visibility to “DM Only”, which would allow you and them to see the result but not anyone else.
There’s no option to reveal it later, though, other than you simply telling everyone what you see.
This isn’t directly related to D&D beyond but I went in to add my pronouns here because I realized I hadn’t added them and now I’ve lost access to like half the channels, I tried to choose the interest boxes to get more again but I’m still at like half of the public channels
Edit: I just realized how I can fix this sorry
Would this be the place to get help with my DDB Subscription? I am subscribed but cannot access anything with my subscription. When I click the link to my subscription it sends me to the "Start your free trial" page. when i click start, it sends me to itunes...
What specifically are you unable to access?
I paid for Master tier but I can't access anything to do with the subscription.
it just tells me to start my free trial
Again, what specifically are you unable to access?
Is your subscription shown on this page?

How does one add chronurgy spells to subclass spell books? (Intent to add to bladesinger spellbook)
You can make a homebrew copy of that subclass. Add it to “Additional Spell List” in a new or existing class feature.
So I know the only "organization" of encounters is by the campaign you they are associated with, is there any way to associate an encounter with a campaign after creating the encounter?
Edit the encounter, click Manage Characters at the top, then select your campaign.
OK thanks so much
hi i was wondering if someone could help guide me in making a subclass? Im new tom aking homebrew on ddb
Where exactly are you stuck?
so basically. im trying to create a subclass in which i know the player im building it for is into them but for a suprise. I built it but the descriptions not showing in the character sheet.
sorry forgot to hit reply to ping you
Not showing where? Under Features & Traits?
yeah
So in the editor, look for a field called Snippet instead. That’s the part that will show directly on the character sheet.
It’s usually a shorter version of the Description.
The full Description is shown in the sidebar when you click on the feature.
still didnt show, is it possible i could private call and show my screen? im fairly new at making homebrew on ddb you see
Homebrew edits can sometimes take up to 15 minutes before they show on the character sheet.
ahh i see. when i do click the archtype it doesnt show there either
I’m not available for a call at the moment, though.
its ok
There’s a short walkthrough here that you might find useful:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/posts/845-new-players-guide-how-to-homebrew-on-d-d-beyond
the class level where optioins are known. do i fill that out for the level the option is for?
Or you can select one of the official subclasses as a template when you create your homebrew. That’ll give you an exact copy, so you can peek inside and see how it was set up.
You only need that when you’ve added Options to the Class Feature.
so if i add a new option such as a thing called swift strikes
“Required Class Level” controls when they’re given the feature itself.
Options are used when you want to give the player a choice.
Like battle master maneuvers.
Is swift strikes something they choose or something they just get automatically?
so so far i get this(test character)
And what are you expecting to see there?
How long ago did you add that feature to the subclass?
like 3 days ago
What did you put for Required Class Level and for Feature Type?
level 2 and additional
Additional is your problem, then.
ahh do i have to do granted
That’s for Optional Class Features, from Tasha’s.
If you want them to get it automatically, then yeah, it should be Granted.
ahh thanks
What do you mean by “Beyond card”?
Hi, I'm trying to sign up for D&D Beyond with google but it's not working and I was wondering if anyone else has been exprincing the same thing
or if there is anyway to fix it
In what way is it not working?
Well I wold tap on Sign up with google and it doesn't load the screen or take me to a new place but the other opitons like sign up with Apple or Wizards works
all though I don't have accounts to either of them
I have tried reloading the page and that doesn't help either
Make sure you’ve got popups enabled.
And if you’re using Chrome, you’ll need to enable Third Party Cookies as well.
thank you!
Hey so if other people have a book with content you want but you literally don't have enough to purchase the book is there a way to like 'borrow' the content from a person who has it or anything?
I really wanna make my path of the zealot barbarian but god damn i don't just have £30 lying around being a 16 year old high school kid and all
You can buy just Path of the Zealot for $1.99
Alternatively, there's content sharing via a master tier subscription
wait so can other people share content with me?
You’d need to be in a campaign together.
Someone would need to own that book (or the subclass).
And someone would need to get a Master Tier subscription and enable Content Sharing for that campaign.
You’d then be able to use it for your character in that campaign.
but I wouldn't be able to use that character outside of that campaign?
No, you’d need to own it yourself for that.
But like Davyd said, you can get just the subclass for $1.99 if that’s all you want.
Whatever you spend gets credited toward the cost of the book itself as well.
I don't even fully know if I'm gonna stick with D&D as a hobby super long term yet so I don't really wanna spend money on it
I'm tryna recreate a character on D&D beyond that I initially made on Roll20 so ig I'll just get the printable version of the character sheet saves as a PDF and use that instead of anything else cause the DM is gonna delete that campaign which I think will include the character as well
what is the benefit of equipping a backpack?
It will count it towards your carrying capacity.
Oh so its for calculating?
Pretty much
How can I add characters that I create to a campaign that I’m DMing for?
Can I have them available for use by “drop-in” players to the campaign?
You can create them directly inside the campaign by clicking “Create Unassigned Character”.
If you created them already, use the invite link at the top of your campaign page — the same link you’d send your players — to add them instead. Once it’s added, click “Unassign” to make it available for your players.
When your players use that invite link, they can then choose any unassigned character, add an existing character, or create a new one.
How do you work the finding a dm stuff?
There’s instructions in #find-a-game.
Hi, I'm dming a campainn and using Beyond... I made a character/npc outside the campaign, can I move it inside the campaign to use it on encounters?
You can import characters on the campaign screen in Dndbeyond.
If you're talking about a pre-built encounter on beyond, i've never tried to import a character to one. I would just have a separate tab opened w/ that char sheet pulled up if you can't put them in your encounter.
If you put them in the campaign the other players in your campaign will see their sheet.
Oh I see, I don't want them to see this character's sheet... but where is the button to import characters? Can't find it?
Don't worry about importing it to your campaign if you don't want them to see.
just have a tab opened w/ that char sheet on your computer or print it out.
If you import a char to your dndbeyond campaign all players in that campaign can access much of the sheet.
all right... That's a shame tho, It would be great to be able to include this character on the encounters/ initiative list
I'm sure at some point that will be an option. The last time i messed with it it was more that i could see/manipulate the PC's char sheets and they could see each others(Minus background info).
You can always create a 2nd account, add a character(from dndbeyond account 2) to your existing campaign, and see what the 2nd account can see. Good way to test w/o your players knowing.
Can have at least 5-6 chars free if i'm not mistaken.
Another way is to just add another blank player to the encounter builder, call it the npc, give it's hp point and just roll with it
I've never used the encounter builder so that's good to know!
there's also an "manual entry" button after you created the encounter. where you can add other players and monsters afterwards. and manual input it's hp, initiative, ac etc... that works well enough
thanks man. I'm just starting to use beyond, pretty good tool. just need a few more features to be perfect
I haven't used it much for running a campaign besides managing PC character sheets. For my own character creations though, i prefer it over any other site.
With homebrewing a race, every time I try to create an Ability Modifier of STR +2, CON +1, it keeps changing this as Ability Modifier OPTIONS that the player can choose to other abilities upon character creation. How do I list it where it can't be changed from STR +2 and CON +1?
All you need is a couple Modifiers.
Type: Bonus
Subtype: Strength
Fixed Value: 2
Then another for the CON.
Subtype Strength "Score"?
Yeah
Ok. I think it was the fact that I was choosing "Score Bonus"...after experimenting with "Increase Stat by 2" option.
(Just note that homebrew edits can sometimes take up to 15 minutes to show up on your character sheet.)
How do I add a table to a homebrew item?
The easiest way is to just copy+paste one in.
Otherwise you can click the </> Source View button in the toolbar and add it manually using HTML.
Umm I need help figurign somnthing out
How am I going to be charged on January 6 2023 that already happened
It normall goes Month day year
Unless it supposed to be june?
then that supposed to be 06/01/2023
Canada
We do Month day year that how I've always been taught
Starting to think it written in a weird format and supposed to be June 1st that would only make sense
Yeah, may be DMY instead of MDY, but looking into it.
Doesn't matter if it is I am okay with Paying on June 1st just weird how it formated
Yeah, hence just poking the people. Will let you know when I get an update, could be tomorrow.
Also I just remeber dnd is an american brand
Yes, America does MDY though.
Why have I been taught the usa way
Okay yep it June 1st
I pulled a dumb
Sorry for that
No problem.
Dangit gif was perfect XD
suggestion they should just do the way Computuer does it YYYY-MM-DD as I see it on my computer screen
I need help! On the DnDBeyond website I chose Hexblood lineage and it won't let me choose the traits of a tiefling.
Since volo's guide to monsters is now legacy content and no longer able to be purchased, is it allowable to publish a clone of the mind blade as a homebrew?
Not published for public to use - okay to recreate for personal use.
In other words you can recreate it for personal use but not publish it for others to use.
More broadly: users can only publish their own original creations.
You can find the full rules here:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/homebrew-rules-guidelines
I just thought circumstances like this might be an exception since, you know, y'all still refuse to take my money for some reason
I did manage to find this but I have no idea how out of date it is
The DM of a campaign will be able to select which homebrew is in use within their campaign and this includes any homebrew items they have created, whether they have made them public or not. This functionality isn't complete yet, so please be patient with that.
Anything in your My Homebrew Collection will be shared with any campaign you’re in.
Removing it from your collection is the only way to prevent it from being shared.
Anyone know?
If it was a homebrew you created, you’ll still be able to find it in My Homebrew Creations instead.
Which specific traits are you having trouble with?
It won't let me select my origin as a tiefling.
Correct. You are a hexblood
But don't I get to keep certain features of a tiefling?
If that is my origin.
I just want it to be able to fly.
The Ancestral Legacy feature details what you’d get from a previous race, if any.
It only shows skills.
If you started the game as a Tiefling with a flight speed and became a Hexblood during the game, you can manually add the flight speed on the character sheet itself.
Oh ok, thank goodness.
(If you started the game as a Hexblood, that flight speed would not apply.)
But just go to your sheet, click your Speed, and you can add that in the sidebar.
Is there a way to manually adjust your skill proficiencies ?
I might go play a D&D 5E one shot at an RPG pub in town for the first time. I used to work for TSR/WoTC through 3E, but have left the franchise behind for most of the past two decades. I'm inclined/inspired by the first character vision that popped up as a Ranger shepherd, a (my) Cattle Dog at his side, with the likeness of something like a Jason Statham presence. Level 5.
What're some of the best builds? I'm a fan of archery, and I would be amused by builds that pump up the pup. Feel free to ping or message me, thanks guys.
Ranger sheperd? Hm... I'm pretty sure there is a circle of the sheperd as a druid.
I did literally see that as one of the first things that popped up in my search, but I'm more the physical approach. I would even sacrifice the Ranger magic for more whatever's put into my pup
Lemme move my post to a channel above that appears more appropriate, character optimization?
Yeah!
Yeah, just click on the one you want to change, then open the Customize section in the sidebar.
I'm making a battleaxe with the thrown property on D&D beyond but I can't figure out where to set the thrown range. so far it's just showing the regular range of the battleaxe as both thrown ranges.
When you unlock content (Player’s Handbook, campaign setting, etc.) on DDB, and want to simply read something, is the interface and text the same as it works for the free basic rules?
yes
Thank you!
does anyone know how I can view a user's profile on D&D beyond?
@vague flame Go to https://www.dndbeyond.com/members/[USERNAME]
aha thank you
(For example, go to your profile and then change the last part from your username to theirs)
I just wanted to view other homebrew content published by this person
yeah it's not there
For that you'll want to go to a specific browse homebrew spell and then filter by author
ah yeah, I'm gonna do that thank you
Hi! I need help and hope this is the right channel for it
So I have an oath of the open sea paladin lvl 3 and my dm approved this:
Gentle repose, prayer of healing, warding bond, spirit shroud.
As the optional paladin spells
but when i flip the little thing in dnd beyond it doesnt appear in my spells or anywhere else
and when i try to manually add them it isnt on the list
Do you have access to Tasha's Cauldron of Everything, either having purchased it or it being shared with you?
my dm has a lot of stuff bought and available in our campaign but im not sure
hes offline rn so i cant ask
Can you see this section: https://www.dndbeyond.com/classes/paladin#OptionalClassFeatures
They'll appear on your spell list and you can choose to prepare them
They're not automatically addced to your character sheet
theyre not on my spell list
Can you link me to the character?
Your character can only cast 1st level spells and the optional spells start at 2nd level
You should be able to prepare them once you are able to cast 2nd level spells, yeah
okay thank you for the help!
hello, is it possible to add spells from another class on D&D beyond without having to take feats and such?
You can make a homebrew copy of the spell and change what classes that copy is available to
i have problem with a Homebrew, i made a great sword with DAMAGE MODIFIER of d6 fire and d4 psychic but after i add this to my pc and roll for damage it only rolled for me the 2d6 of the great sword
That's normal, additional damage dice aren't automatically rolled
i cant make it automatically?
No, even the official items don't do that yet.
wow
Would there be a way to triple hp?
Can you explain a little more?
For a heavily homebrewed PvP campaign, I have decided to triple the hp of every player, which would apply after every other bonus to hp like constitution, tough feat, etc (I can't actually name any more...)
For that, they'll need to go into their character settings and change the Hit Point Type to manual. Then on the Class tab, they can click Manage HP to set the required amount.
Ah, makes sense. Thanks
is there anyway at all ot buy legacy content? i kinda need volos for something an i have no idea how to buy it now.
Volo's has been removed from sale on DDB. Your options are to either track down a physical copy, or find someone who bought it before on DDB who can content share it with you
@fresh juniper Check the following with your wizard player:
- They're character is in the campaign you're sharing Tasha's through
- They've enabled optional class features
- From the optional class features menu, they've enabled additional wizard spells
Thanks, and sorry I posted in the wrong spot. I'm checking their sheet now - they're in the campaign, optional class features enabled. Where is the optional class features menu?
Go to the class tab and it should be the third sub-tab (next to spells)
That worked. You are
- thanks again!
No worries, glad to help
Is there a good way to scale monsters in DDB? so i could use a kobold for level 3-5 characters
There’s not anything to do it automatically, but you can make a homebrew copy of the monster you want and manually adjust it as needed.
ok
are the pride dice available again? if so, can i get the link to the page to collet them?
I haven't seen any announcements for it yet, but you can keep an eye on #dnd-social-feeds to see.
If I'm trying to get the Artificer class from Tasha's on DNDbeyond, can I just buy the Armorer subclass to unlock Artificer?
Yep!
Thanks
So i am looking to get a stat block for a vehicle and i cannot find a single way to generate a stat block, and Beyond doesnt have anything that will help. Am i missing what it is that will assist me, or do i need to attempt to locate third party?
D&D Beyond doesn't currently support home-brewing vehicle stat blocks I'm afraid
yea i seen youir post on teh froms back in 2021, has anythign been said about adding one or has that been abandoned?
Been having an issue for some reason the homebrewed version of the dunamancy spells are being auto learned by my druid and are always prepared. I wanted to make it so they would still appear just not be always prepared. Not sure what I did wrong
I would imagine you put a subclass in the "Available For Class(es)" field.
You could either change that to druids in general, or you could make a homebrew copy of your subclass and add those spells under "Additional Spell List" instead.
How do I make a post on the dnd beyond forum?
Open the forum you want to post in and click "New Thread" in the top right corner.
is there anyone who can help with dnd beyond questions?
The fastest way to get help would be to just ask the questions directly and see if anyone can answer them.
i thought that would be here?
Yes, it would be here, but rather than asking for someone it would be fastest to just ask the question.
ah gotcha
last night i made an item on dnd beyond for a campaign im in and went all out with pictures and everything and it will show up for me, but not for others in the same campaign. im the only one who will use it, but i want them to be able to look at it too instead of me sending screenshots. Its published, in my homebrew collections and their homebrew button is turned on.
Apologies, I misread your query
so do i need to take the pictures out for it to show up to them?
No, pictures won't stop it being shared, they just won't show up
Is the issue that they can't add it to their sheets?
they cant even look at it, i did a few hours of work getting everything to work and it kinda sucks if they cant even look at it
And they're in a campaign with you?
yes
If it's published, anyone should be able to look at it
can you see if you can look it up? its called malignatas, might of the machinations +3
with it being published you should be able to see it right?
Can you post the link to it?
it shows up on there so im not sure why they cant see it
That link loads for me which means it's published and visible. If they can't see it, that suggests an issue on their end
ill double check with them, hopefully i can get it figured out
Hey can someone tell me if there is an easier way to format the homebrew race creation on the website or is this a homebrew ,thing?
You should make a DND memes chat
Quick question: I'm trying to make a Sorcerer that uses intelligence instead of charisma to cast, is there a way to do that in DnD Beyond? I can make a homebrew feat that adds my intelligence modifier to spell attacks and save DC, but also need to subtract my charisma modifier too
no, you can't modify base classes on Beyond
you can make a feat that adds your intelligence modifier to your spell attack and save DC, just wondering if I can somehow make that subtract my charisma from it too
We have a feedback system in #520291181083754516 This channel is for getting assistance with the D&D Beyond site, tools, and services rather than making suggestions for the server.
But to respond to your suggestion directly, we decided a while back that memes were not conducive to a safe, healthy, and welcoming community based on careful observation of how people used such channels, what they posted, and the impact
I believe you can change the stat for a homebrew subclass.
I have googled to try and find a solution, but to no avail. Is there a way to add a spell for a character in the app if the class is not a caster? Our DM gave one of our monks a spell to cast, and i am having a hard time adding it to the app for the character.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance! 😊
You'd have to use homebrew to grant the spell. Typically done via a feat or item.
What's the workflow for that? I checked the app and can't see how to do it. Sorry if that's a basic question 😬
Homebrew tools are available on the website, not the app.
Ok thank you!!
Once you create a homebrew item, you can assign it to a character via the app if the character has homebrew enabled.
Perfect. Much appreciated. You rock!
As a bit of general advice, you might have an easier time if you find an existing feat or item that works similarly to what you want.
Then you can select it as a template when you create your homebrew and just change what you need, rather than trying to figure it out from scratch.
From the app you can also go on editing in website mode and enable it there
ok so i made the spell and enabled homebrew, but since monks dont have any spell slots in the app, I can't assign the spell to the monk. Any ideas on how to accomplish this?
Again, you’ll probably want to use a homebrew feat or magic item.
Ahhh a feat, not a spell. That makes more sense 😬
I have lost access to my account with a new phone purchase. Anyone that can point me in the right direction? I'd like to not lose my suscriptions or purchases made on them along with all my characters
You’ll need to contact Customer Support for that.
http://dndbeyond.link/SubmitTicket
thanks for the link
im new does anyone know how to join a campain
You will need the invite link from the campaign owner
thank you
for skills what does it mean if a skill has a circle filled in and one does not
You add your proficiency bonus to that skill
oh ok
how do i add dice to my custom homebnrew
Dice are generally part of a damage roll - so you need to configure the spell to include it. The #homebrew channel can assist, as can the Homebrew section on the Forums on DDB.
So I’m a very new beginner, I’m making a character right now and it’s a rogue sailor, for the rogues skill proficiencies I chose Acrobatics, Athletics, Investigation and Stealth, and for Human variant I chose Perception, but Sailor gets Athletics and Perception, does that mean I get even more proficiency bonus for those two, or I have to choose something else for my Rogue and Human skill proficiencies?
This would actually be a great question for #character-discussion but since you're here - you would need to pick a different skill, you may not double-up on a skill.
I see thank you
If a character would gain the same proficiency from two different sources, he or she can choose a different proficiency of the same kind (skill or tool) instead.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/basic-rules/personality-and-background#Proficiencies
Your proficiency bonus can’t be added to a single die roll or other number more than once.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/basic-rules/step-by-step-characters#ProficiencyBonus
This didn't work. I'm stumped. I created a feat, no prerequisites, added the spell to the feat. It's not showing up anywhere in the character editor. I'm so frustrated, because I've tried every which way, and nothing seems to work 😔
For some reason, Tentacle of the Deep (Warlock's Fathomless) has a +3 to the damage, like the spellcasting modifier is added. I read the ability description and the +3 shouldn't be there. It's just a straight 1d8.
Do I have to find a twig that was struck by lightning to be able to use witch bolt?
This channel is for getting help using the D&D Beyond site, tools, and services. For D&D rules questions you want #dnd-rules
when homebrewing an item how do i have it where it gives someone a flying speed??
because i cant seem to figure it out.
copy the Winged Boots or the Broom of Flying and see how it was coded. fastest way to learn how to do a thing is to see how an existing item does it
how do i do that?
it doesnt let me see how it was coded
Create a Magic Item, there's a dropdown to select a pre-existing item
oh
so i did do what the broom of flying does but that doesnt work?
and the winged boots only gives a flying speed equal to your walking speed which i dont want my item gives you a set flying speed of 40 ft.
...hm. one sec, I've got about 5 minutes before I gotta leave the PC but let me see if I can find it.
thank you
lemme try that
using the Winged Boots as my base
give it 15 minutes for the cache to update
Woo!
thank you!
my pleasure.
I created this character and I have an issue with dndbeyond the site is constantly refreshing up to the point where the site thinks im a bot and I have to authenticate myself as a fellow human. https://www.dndbeyond.com/monsters/3593925-aria-nightshade
Can anyone help me whats going on?
the site is constantly refreshing
The only time I've heard of this issue is when people are running extensions that modify site date. If you are using any such extensions, can you try disabling them?
I've just loaded the monster with no issue
Thank you. I disabled beyond20 and it fixed the issue.
(sorry if I pinged you I forgot to turn it off and remembered when I already pressed enter)
S'all good, glad to hear it's all sorted
is it standard practice for ddb to just delete a support ticket without any explanation?
I don’t think that’s something anyone here can answer.
But I’d be surprised if it was.
should I just send another ticket in? I trusted wotc online to save all the tickets but I don't have any reference numbers on hand anymore
question: clockwork soul sorcerer has the ability to replace the spells it gets from its level 1 subclass feature. How would you do this on ddb?
for some reason it doesnt have the option to do it
make a homebrew copy of the class and swap out the spell
I believe you need to make a homebrew version of the subclass to do the spell replacement
it takes 15 minutes for changes to propogate
okay
has anyone had issues with books going missing on dndbeyond? have purchased the legendary bundle a few years ago, and icewind dale is gone, despite using it last week
The most common explanation in a situation like that is that you purchased the legendary bundle before Icewind Dale came out, but were having it shared with you via a campaign with you realising
Quickest way to confirm that is to see when you purchased your legendary bundle through your account (https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/marketplace#:~:text=Redeemed by shlingg-,Order Transactions,-Your recent order). If you purchased it before September 15th, 2020 then it wouldn't have been included in your bundle
Ok but we were using it last week on Dnd beyond, so that doesnt explain it
even still have the digital dice from it
It would if the person who was sharing it with you left the campaign that it was being shared via
Or sharing in that campaign was disabled
You wouldn't have got the dice if you got it via the legendary bundle
No it is not showing on the DM account
There was a free dice set for that book as well.
Also which dice? There were Icemaiden dice that were free
Regardless, it was on the account last week and has been getting used on dnd beyond for 3 months, now its gone
Yes, which would be the case of the following happened
- You purchased your legendary bundle before the book released
- You were in a campaign that had content sharing on (you don't need to be the DM of the campaign or the person who enabled content sharing, just in the campaign)
- Someone else in the campaign owned the book
- That person left the campaign, or you left it, or the person who enabled content sharing turned it off
Or for #4, their character was set to inactive for that campaign.
But like Davyd said, checking your oder history for the purchase date of that bundle is the first thing to check.
The way the legendary bundles work, it's not actually possible to just remove books from them
query. if I get a subscription and make a campaign, I can share privately made homebrew items with my players correct? without making them public?
(by items im thinking backgrounds and spells and magic items)
You can share privately made homebrew without a subscription within your own DnDBeyond campaigns.
A subscription allows you to use other's published homebrew within your own collections/campaigns.
Hello Mortals.
Along with the other benefits - unlimited character slots and if you have a master tier subscription you can enable content sharing which allows everyone in the campaign to share their purchased content with everyone else.
Do you need help with DnDBeyond tools and services?
You can test this by having a friend join your campaign with their character and see if you can give their character a homebrewed item/feat.
ill give this a shot thank you
dyingnoob im sorry im dumb as bricks with technilogy. I have a campaign and a player in it, how do O actually give the item? do i have to edit their sheet?
You are the DM of that campaign correct? You can open their character sheet and give them the homebrew item/feat.
should i be worried if my preorder perks for bigby presents haven't appeared yet? i'm not fussed, just curious!
Go to https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/marketplace
Do you see a 'sync entitlements' button?
nope, it says everything is in sync
And you don't have the prehistoric gemstone dice?
i have those, but i saw the article said i should also have character sheet cosmetics? just wasn't sure if those were also supposed to be there!
You're not seeing frames or backdrops listed under 'GOTG'?
nope
Lemme just check into that
thanks a bunch! like i said, i'm not worried or anything, just excited.
There's a known issue with the frames and backdrops not appearing, but the team is looking into it
ah, perfect! thanks for the help!
Just wondering but "Superior technique" should display Battle master options, right?
Ever since Tasha's came out it doesn't, is this intentional?
Good Afternoon,
Is it possible to get your username on DDB. I am the lead on the Perks team 🙂
softlight! thank you so much!
Not at this time, no. Depending on your maneuver choice, you might be able to add it directly to your sheet as a custom action, or you can make a homebrew copy of Martial Adept and adjust it as needed.
Hi, I have a question about ddb's homebrew spells and integration into the character builder. I'm a DM who's had a few wizard players reach 20 in a particular campaign, some of them spent the time to craft some homebrew spells, however, when it came time to choose spell mastery or signature spells the homebrew spells don't appear in the options list. I'm asking if anyone knows if this is an intended feature of ddb or if the spells themselves don't possess the correct tag to be added to those lists in the spells homebrew editing sections. Thanks! :D
Did the players remember to turn on homebrew content in the character builder itself?
yes and content is shared, they've even tried using my homebrew spells and their own from our respective collections, and still doesn't show. We can all see the spells and add them to their spell lists while on the character sheet itself. But they don't show up in the character builder where you have to select the spell mastery and signature spells.
I'd assume that's a technical limitation.
How do I start a game as a DM on the Beyond app? It only shows me how to join as a player.
You can't create campaigns on the app, you have to do that via the site
Oh... gotcha
does anyone know how to make the damage scaling of a HB spell work? i can't seem to get mine to work
Best way to figure it out is to copy a spell with damage scaling (such as fireball) and look at how it's set up
Hey, team. No rush!
I claimed my pride dice on D&DB but they're not showing up under My Dice. I checked my account settings and it said no sync was necessary... Thoughts? 🤔
Does https://www.dndbeyond.com/claim/dice/pride-2023 show it as claimed?
You've successfully claimed this product.
I'm in Canada. Does that affect my eligibility? I saw something about that on the main page.
I'll check, I know there are some regions restricted.
Can you provide a link to your account though?
Yup. Account is DeeEmSteve.
Did you check your whole dice list? They may not be at the bottom.
(Since these dice first released last year, they would be before any dice released afterward.)
I think I am. I'm going to https://www.dndbeyond.com/my-dice
Then I'm CTRL+F pride. I also scrolled through slowly and couldn't see them.
Is there an app for random generated monster/encounters? I don't really feel like having to manually scratch up a dozen lizardfolk.
I'm planning my very first campaign I'm DMing....
is there a way to change the spell learn/prepare type of a class if you make a homebrew subclass? Like for example turning Bards into prepared casters like Druids
No, but nothing stops you from just opening up your spells and changing them after a long rest anyway.
You might try asking in #third-party-tools-archive or #dm-discussion. This channel is specifically for help with D&D Beyond.
Hi all. Trying to make a homebrew feat by copying Shadow Touched. I basically want to swap Invisibility for Phantasmal Force (to go with a certain character build). It generally works, except it doesn't remove Invisibility. Any advice?
?books
?books
There are five ways to access content on D&D Beyond that you may have in your physical books
- Purchase the full book from the marketplace
- Purchase individual elements from the marketplace (options can be found within the book description)
- Purchase a digital/physical bundle from dndstore.wizards.com
- Join a campaign with someone who already owns the book where content sharing has been enabled
- Use the homebrew tools to copy the content from your physical book into D&D Beyond. Note: Do not publish any content copied in this way, it is for personal use only
Sorry forgot to respond. That was absolutely it. Oof. 😩
I'm just glad it's there. Happy rolling!
Fairly newish on making a homebrew item in DDB
How does one add a bonus to hit and damage?
For what type of homebrew, magic items?
Wait, sorry, didn't read the item part.
You might want to bring this question over to the #homebrew channel, they will know more about this stuff.
how do you add a penelty to a weapon or armor that have seen a grey ooze ?
Hi! Total beginner here. Can someone please help me with getting logged into DnD Beyond? I logged in via my google account, but now it cant find my account for me to log back in.
You would have to reach out to Google as they operate the account you used (it is a Google account - DnDBeyond just uses Googles authentication services to check and go "yep, this person is known and trusted by Google and has an account on DnDBeyond using said Google account.")
But the account itself is Google's.
Ok, great. Thank you!
no one can help on my Question?
Click on the weapon, then open the Customize section in the sidebar.
And the same by clicking on your AC.
i tryed that i cant seem to make like 1d6-1
You’d need to set the Damage Bonus, specifically.
Put -1 or however much the penalty is.
That will subtract it from any bonus your weapon currently has.
okay i try that thanks
How do I remove a manual entry from an encounter in the encounter builder?
Do I actually have to buy each subclass/spell I want? Or can it be done for free
It depends on which you want you can get Tasha’s and get access to a lot but some like the new ones like the moon sorcerer ur gonna have to pay the $2 for
but it's saying add to cart, am I doing somethin wrong?
There should be an option that’s like $10 that has all the subclasses if your looking at Tasha’s
After you add to cart you click on ur cart and do the regular check out
Aight thanks 🙏🏾 I'll just buy the individual class I was looking for and comeback to buy any others that interest me
Looking for help about following people who have joined my campaign on the website. I can't seem to find a follow button!
There isn't a "click a button" way but you could grab their DnDBeyond profile name (found on the character sheet as the player name if they joined your DnDBeyond campaign) and enter that at the end of https://www.dndbeyond.com/members/ to see their public profile on DnDBeyond.
Thanks but the link is broken until you drop the last \
Have found them and can follow
Much Appreciated and Many Thanks
You misunderstand
They're saying take that URL (https://www.dndbeyond.com/members/) and add their profile name to the end to go to their profile
@modest pelican
Clicking that link does this
Delete the last Slash \
Hence my comment that the link was broken
@supple ether Please re-read what I said
Don't just click https://www.dndbeyond.com/members/
Type in https://www.dndbeyond.com/members/ and add the persons profile name to the end
For example
https://www.dndbeyond.com/members/davyd
I read what you said but it's my Autism that makes it hard to explain. You put a link up that is in Blue and does not work. I understood putting the name at the end after the members/ However it is easier just to search the members list and it saves a lot of typing or copy and paste. Also it is a great way to search for names not already taken. Apologies if I have caused any annoyance.
Hey, I’m making a subclass currently that has unarmoured defence but it doesn’t have dexterity as one of it’s modifiers. Any way of making this not count for ac bonuses?
Try a Modifier with:
- Type: Ignore
- Subtype: Unarmored Dex AC Bonus
I ended up finding a way to do it.
Set - Unarmored AC DEX maximum - 0
I asked this last night, but it was pretty late so I didn't get a response.
How do I remove something I entered manually from an encounter, in the encounter builder?
How do I delete Hazzal
Honestly I couldn't tell you for the life of me
@idle arch I don't think it's currently possible short of restarting the encounter I'm afraid
When you say "restarting the encounter" do you mean deleting it and rebuilding it from scratch, or does that have something to do with the "run encounter" interface?
I mean from within the encounter select the dropdown menu and selecting the option to restart the encounter:
I do not currently have the option with this encounter
You have to have started the encounter
This is an encounter I have run multiple times, so I have started it in the past, yes.
I'm not sure why you wouldn't have the restart option then, I'm afraid
Well, it wasn't currently running. I tried starting and restarting it a few times just now, but the manual entry creature is part of it every time. It seems like its part of the encounter itself, not that specific running
Then it seems it's not possible to remove it
Alright. I'm sure you would have anyways, but I'd like to ask you to pass along feedback that I'd like that to be possible 🤣
Currently making a homebrew race related to undead and I wanted to give it advantage on saving throws against spells that do psychic damage. Wanted to ask if there's any way to implement that (like adding it as a modifier) or is there no way?
You could use a modifier to display that information in the Saving Throws section.
You’d still need to manually roll with advantage when appropriate.
- Type: Advantage
- Subtype: Saving Throws
- Additional Information: “against spells that do psychic damage”
Novice question: what is the difference between buying a book normally on DDB vs compendium content only? Does Compendium Content only still get you the text of the book?
The compendium is basically just book alone. The contents of that book won't be usable in other tools like the character or encounter builders.
Whatever you spend on the compendium does get credited toward the full cost of the book, though, in case you decide to get the rest later.
Great! I want to send the book to a friend in a different state, so this seems easier than mailing a physical book.
I'm sorry I don't understand. Can you rephrase the question?
Hey I am Kinda new to this type of stuff but, I am in the process of creating a new race and I was wondering if I could get some help with working out some issues
Have an issue with the encounter builder - when I try and use the Delete option in the drop-down menu for this particular encounter (and only this one), it lets me click the Delete button but doesn't actually delete the encounter afterwards.
Just tried it on a new browser as well and it didn't solve that way, which leads me to believe that it's not a cookie/cache issue. For what it's worth, maybe it's because it's the first encounter I have?
Alright, so, I discovered this last night
Warlock. Any sort of patron.
At 3rd level, Pact of the Tome ability taken.
Invocation - Book of Ancient Secrets.
Usually this invocation only allows 3 spells be taken, however it bugs out and allows a large number of spells being already taken.
On your adventures, you can add other ritual spells to your Book of Shadows.
You only start with two, but there's theoretically no limit to how many you can add per the rules.
You may need to contact customer support for that one.
http://dndbeyond.link/SubmitTicket
You may need to describe the specific issues before anyone can help.
Does anyone know how often things are put in their marketplace for free?
It's never happened
Some things are made free through a claim page, never free in the marketplace
Hey, so I’ve noticed some subclasses aren’t showing up for me in the character creator. For the ones I’ve noticed they’re specifically in Tasha’s. I own the book so no reason why they shouldn’t be there. But the ones I’ve noticed are missing are Eloquence Bard, Spores Druid, and Glory Paladin. There might be other but those are the 3 I’ve noticed missing as options in the character builder. Anyone know why that might be?
Those are all Magic: the Gathering content subclasses
Turn on Magic: the Gathering content in the character builder, as the subclasses originally came from the Theros and Ravnica books respectively.
They're behind that content flag because they were first published in Magic: the Gathering books
Ah, and here I was thinking I was being smart turning off MTG content for AL. Thanks y’all!
how do i add a (x/uses per long rest) tickbox for a feature in a subclass (im making a homebrew subclass, and would like to be able to cast fireball twice a long rest)
https://imgur.com/a/GEFuaNW (pic for reference)
I want the sorcery points tickbox, but a seperate one for fireball twice a long rest
Add an Action to your homebrew class feature. Make sure to give it a Reset Type, then save it and edit it again. At the bottom of the page, you’ll find a Limited Use section.
oh shoot. I added a spell beforehand trying to make a tickbox, should i remove that too?
and thank you so much! will try to see if it works
Oh actually, for a spell you could just fill in the Number of Uses field inside there.
But it won’t show up in the same way as the checkboxes in your image.
Instead on the Spells tab, it would show “Use” instead of “Cast”, and the checkboxes would be shown in the sidebar when you click on the spell.
no man, your thing worked before! but would it be wise to apply said changes?
thanks to you 🫡
Just a matter of personal preference.
Which you prefer is up to you.
i prefer your first advice, thanks a ton tho!
wait, is dndb slow to load text?
i uploaded new text for the subclass feat but it doesnt show on my sheet.. hmm
Sometimes homebrew edits can take up to 15 minutes before they pop up on your sheet.
somethings off. the old text before i edited shows up on the edit page, but on my character sheet, it shows the new text
interesting. ill wait for a few to see how it shows
Hello! I have a question about the Encounter Builder. So I created an encounter and added custom enemies. Now I ahve to go back in to edit the manually entered enemies because I entered incorrect HP and AC. I'm in the EDIT screen but can't seem to change the stats of any of the manually entered enemies. Guidance on how to do that please!
Without having to delete and start over. Since there are several of them.
for some reason, the text "sssda" is impossible to not make italics and bold, am i doing anything wrong?
I’m not an official helper, but FWIW, did you check the display code? You can show it by clicking the “< / >” symbol. If you see things in there with the letter “i” then delete them, as “i” means italics. It might also show “em” which is also italics for “emphasis”
ohh i see, i'll try that
editing the html did work, but i'm still confused why it works that way
i suppose it's a temporary fix, thank you
You’re welcome. Sometimes those tags just don’t open/close where you want them to. I deal with it in my IRL job every day. Happy adventuring!
Is ther a way to add hombrew infusions yet or special weapon modifiers like pact and hex and make variants of them?
Any feedback on this problem I'm having?
I have some question about the homebrew maker on dnd beyond
You’re welcome to ask them. No need to get permission first. 😅
What is the conditions section for is that how you program the attunement requirements?
For a homebrew magic item?
That’s mostly for search functionality, I believe, so you can search for items that interact with prone or paralyzed or whatever.
For attunement, you’d want to check Requires Attunement further up the page.
And right below that is Attunement Description for any requirements you want to add. If you type “a spellcaster”, for example, it will say “requires attunement by a spellcaster”.
Is there a way to individually purchase optional class features?
was looking at equipment and for some reason axe beak mount is saying its not own despite me owning the book rime of frostmaiden
Those are only available will the full purchase of Tasha’s.
Just to confirm, it does say “You already own this” here?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/marketplace/adventures/icewind-dale-rime-of-the-frostmaiden
yes also the hoopak melee version is also acting like i dont own it
So if you visit this page, it redirects you to the marketplace?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/equipment/axe-beak
That displayed properly
Where exactly is the issue occurring, then?
Which equipment filter page? This?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/equipment?filter-search=Axe+beak
Yeah
I have an question I want to add an custom weapon in the action section I want to make elemental bombs for my artificer how do I add one on dnd beyond
Or an custom ability like fade like ability for dhampir
For some reason I cant post in any of the find a game channels.
Have you read the instructions in #find-a-game?
love how it made me think it was a link to the channel.
That is a link to the channel. If you click it, you'll be taken there.
how do i change on hit from an custom weapon i made 2 element bombs but on hit on only 2
can i change that
I'm on a Master trial and have created a campaign. I've re-created my player's characters in my account. If I give them the share links, can they use / update these characters with free DDB accounts? Not sure how this works... These are novice players and aren't invested enough to spend the time to properly create their own characters.
Also, can they use those characters in the campaign I created?
Just so I know where to start: did you create those characters inside the campaign already?
Or did you create them in My Characters?
How does one add a fighting style to a (custom) warlock subclass?
@marsh sinew See above
TQ 🙏🏼
Created in my characters. Surely there's a way to use my characters across multiple campaigns?
There is not, a character can only be in one campaign at a time
You could make a copy and put that copy into a different campaign
One at a time is fine! But how do I put one my own characters in my campaign and allow another player to play it?
When you go to the campaign page, there is a invite link in the upper right corner (website). Grab that URL go to it. You will be prompted to add a character or create a character for that campaign.
After you add the character you need to unassign it.
I have a weapon I'm homebrewing and need some help. Is it possible to have D&D Beyond show in the description of the weapon the calculation of a "Strength" save and me set up that save in the homebrew editor? What i mean is when typing out the description, it'd say:
"On your turn when creatures are within the radius of the Whirlwind, they must make a DC15 Strength saving throw, or be pulled into the cyclone, taking 3d12 slashing damage."
In the D&D Beyond Homebrew editor, that DC15 would be calculated with something like 8+strength modifier+prof mod
I'd like for D&D B to show the calculated DC rather than me have to spell it out for the player; ie, "Please Make a Strength Save equal to 8 + Str Mod + Prof Bonus"
In the editor, I do know that there is an "Insert Code block", but I don't know if that's what this is
Anyone?
That kind of automatic calculation can only be done via what are called snippets. Magic items don't support snippet text
The DND Beyond combat tracker seems to be down at the moment - is anyone else seeing issues with the Game Log not working between players?
Error loading character: Beyond returned an error: 500 - Internal Server Error
for avrae any ideas?
Best off asking in #ddb-avrae-help or the avrae server
Hey. There is a problem with my dnd beyond character sheet builder. I am not able to access the shared content on my sheet builder, even though I am in a dnd beyond campaign with content sharing enabled and every official sourcebook available. I just joined the campaign a few minutes ago, and it just isn't showing anything beyond the homebrew and the srd content.
If you just joined a few minutes ago, your entitlest to access shared content might not yet be in sync
How long does that takes?
it varies, but you can check if it's teh case by going here: https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/marketplace
If your entitlements are out of sync, there'll be a "sync entitlements" button
I pressed the button, and refreshed the sheet. Still suffering from that issue
Idk what is wrong....
And the character is being made in the campaign?
Yes
It is a Westmarch server's shared campaign, with all the official sourcebooks and adventures.
If the character is being made within the campaign (ie you followed the invite link and started making a new character) you should have access ot any shared content
Here is my sheet link, it still don't shows the shared content in the races tab, but I haven't checked the other tabs.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/102382123/builder/race/choose
Can you do me a favour and try finishing that character using just SRD content
I can, but why should I try this?
I just want to check something really quick
I am just confused
Okay
Okay, I sort of made my character sheet. Is everything okay on your end?
Let me have a quick look
I haven't been able to access the shared content yet
What content do you not own that you are trying to access?
Everything except the srd content. It is being shared through the campaign
But, I can't access it somehow
I don't know if this is only happening with my character sheet, or if it is affecting others btw
And you're certain that content sharing is enabled in the campaign?
For example, can you access this page: https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/tcoe/druid#CircleofSpores
Yes, I checked the content being shared in the content management screen
Nope. It redirected me to another page
I have no clue why this is happening.
That doesn't sound like content sharing is active
Can I show you a picture of the campaign's pages?
Go for it
Had to hide the invite link.
I should have access to it, but it isn't showing on my sheet or anywhere
There's some issues with Amazon Web Services at the moment that might be interfering here.
Huh? I don't think I understand what you're referring to
Any chance I will have access to it soon?
D&D Beyond, like many websites, uses a product called AWS -- Amazon Web Services.
If AWS is having issues, then the sites that use it can have issues. This may be a symptom of those issues.
Okay, I guess this makes sense.
hello there, i just bought the subclasses from tasha and i can't select it in character creation any ideas?
sorry specifically artifcer
If you go here https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/marketplace
At the top does it say your entitlements are in sync?
they are not let me try to sync them ty
Same Problem, bought a subclass (great old one) not available. Syncing doesnt fix
yeah I'm also trying and its not synced and pressing "sync my entittlements" isn't working
for now im going to wait it out, perhaps some lag with the transaction
There are some issues being reported with Amazon Web Services, which handles a large portion of hosting online including D&D Beyond
thats probably it then, I'll just wait it out then, no hurry thanks for the help!
Is there a way to put the Reborn Lineage on top of your race or is it just permanently separated?
I'm having an issue with account connections. One of my players is trying to connect their Discord to their Beyond, but when they click "Link" it claims their Discord is already linked to another Beyond account. We have the account username and the ID, is there a way to find the email so we can attempt to reset the password and/or delete the account?
Submit a customer service ticket: http://dndbeyond.link/SubmitTicket
I think there’s a known issue with some Discord accounts not being correctly linked/changed.
There was an issue with being able to unlink your Discord and DDB accounts, but that’s been resolved.
You still won’t be able to do that, though, if you can’t log in to your DDB account.
So contacting customer support is still the best option.
hello, is it possible to make my character's spell list not display upcast options?
like I only want it to display the spells at their original level, is it possible to do that?
Yep, it's the in the character sheet preferences
Yeah, in your character settings, there's an option called Show Level-Scaled Spells. You can turn that off.
oh okay, thank you very much
One of my players isn't getting their Aberrant Mind spells to show up on their spell list when their character is in my campaign hub, but if they join another campaign the spells show up on their spell list, even though myself and that player both own the Aberrant Mind subclass and the Tasha's spell list. What are some troubleshooting options to fix this?
I'm not using DDB, but just trying to understand someone's situation.
Do a wizard's nonritual spells appear in the spell list even if they aren't prepped?
Yes, because a wizard can cast them as a ritual even when they aren't prepped.
Which specific spells aren't showing? Is Content Sharing enabled for your campaign?
Arms of Hadar, Mind Silver, and Dissonant Whispers; aka, the Psionic Spell feature from level 1 Aberrant Mind Sorcerer
And no, nobody is Content Sharing, but the player owns the class
Does the player also own those spells? The first two are from the PHB, and the third is from TCOE.
I will check
There should be a checkmark here next to the spell if they own it themself:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/marketplace/sourcebooks/players-handbook
But if it's working in another campaign and not yours, I'm assuming:
- The player probably doesn't own the spells.
- Content sharing is probably enabled in the other campaign, and someone else there owns them.
Ah, that's the issue. The player misunderstood when I asked them if they owned everything they needed and they actually don't own anything besides Aberrant Mind subclass 🤦♂️
Cheers
So if a wizard did not prep Hypnotic Pattern, it won't appear in the sheet (link that is shared)?
The opposite.
If a ritual spell exists in their spellbook, it will always be shown.
Regardless of whether they prepared the spell or not.
Rituals always appear. The other spells need to be prepped so they appear on DDB?
Yes
In other words, it will show any spell you can actually cast.
Whether that's because you've prepared the spell or because you have a ritual spell in your book.
I see. So the player of our level 10 wizard earlier either did not prep 5th level spells or didn't bother getting them. Lmao.
For that, you'd have to ask the player. 😅
What does this mean?
It probably means the homebrew subclass you are using did not get a feature at that level, but requires one to be published
weird... do druids get a lvl 3 feature even? nope they dont...
That is a poorly implimented work around for the level 3 druid feature requirement that is a result of the Circle of the Land having a third level feature selection
Oh so even if it says that, it doesn't do anything than just vanish once lvl 3 is hit?
Depends on how they set it up
I mean, they could have set it to not even show there. 😅
So who knows what else they did?
hm okay. On a short note then, is it possible to make a statblock in the class like the steel defender? I was wondering because the steel defender levels with the character but like the tasha option for the companion for hte beast master doesnt show up
I’d suggest making a homebrew copy of Battle Smith. Then you can take a look inside and see exactly how they set it up.
Okay thanks 😄
oh geez.. okay that makes sense.. but also so much to do...^^" well seems like I might come back with troubleshooting later if something breaks ^^"
How do I link an email to my account on mobile?
So if you're logged in on your mobile device, you;re likely using the Google or Apple account associated with that device. So you can use that to know which email account and password to use to login on to the DnDBeyond website.
I'll try but i don't think so
If all else fails, reach out to Wizards/DnDBeyond customer support: http://dndbeyond-support.wizards.com/
Didn't work
it was not linked
Why can't I just change that stuff in the app
Okay then reach out to customer support
Because DnDBeyond uses Google, Apple, and Twitch to authenticate users rather thaen have to build a custom authentication and user management tools.
I linked every account I have
Wait - you're logged in via your mobile browser? You should be able to use that to see your user email account connected to your DnDBeyond account.
Twitch will not autherize
I did
No, I didn't forget it. I unlinked it so I can change it. But I accidentally signed out during the process
But I thought I was only signed into the mobile app for a bit
So in your (logged-in) mobile browser when you go to https://www.dndbeyond.com/account are you able to see your account? If not, submit a support ticket.
I figured it out sir/mad'am
Awesome!
thank you
I figured it out on my own when I sent this message
Now make sure to record it in a reputable password manager tool!
What?
No, I don't need to. I'm not gonna log out anymore
Just to make sure the next time you worry about what account you used for what site and what the password is... it's handy to have it stored in a password management app (could be the ones already built-in with your phone or computer) so then you can just refer there to get it.
Peace of mind and only having to remember one password (to manage the many).
My family has my Icould one so I'm good
That works
Working my way through and so far everything works, which is good. But is there a way to add a multi attack at a later level that overwrite the normal showing up of the Attack so it's basically showing up as a Mulitattack. You make 2 attacks etc at level 14 and later on?
I would need to make it a replacement on lvl 14 and just copy paste everything and add that Mulitattack feature in then, right?
hey y'all, question about content sharing. Im running a little homebrew campaign that started as a simple one shot with some friends. They all made characters on DDB then joined the campaign after. I just recently purchased the players handbook, as this has been going on for a good number of weeks now, but none of my players can see any of the content from the PHB. i dont have a shared content subscription account, just the free one. is this normal? do I need the master tier to be able to have players in my campaign see that content - or am i missing something simple?
As someone that also doesn't have the Master Sup, yeah thats normal. Homebrew they can see but not the offical books that you own. But you do can add stuff to their character sheets when you're the campaign owner
i have noticed that (about me being able to add it) it just makes it tough because they cant see what options they can choose from lol. i also have a couple players who say they cant see any of my homebrew content which is equally, if not more, concerning.
In the latter case, they may want to check whether Homebrew Content is enabled for that character in their character settings.
That is a frequent flyer of an obvious problem for myself because I keep forgetting it to turn on homewbrew in the HOME section xD xD
As for not knowing what optins they could use, you can write down the classes and subclasses and a short little infor about it that is given to them, which you can simply copy paste from the book to give them a first idea and later give them the access to it if they want to look through it more.
ill double check this and make sure its turned on for them if not, i forgot about that option slider!
guess i better get to copying then hahah.
thanks yall! much appreciated!
Yeah... it's a bit hassle but you all can also pull in for a yearly sub for that if its something that is a hassle for you all. Or a month for the start 😄
FIXED
yeah I think I got something wrong ^^" that should show up as 6d6 top... not d66d6 ^^" little help please

Does anyone know what the DnDbeyond Bigby giant book preorder rewards look like?
I'm waiting to see what content there is, because I've heard rumors that there's a lot less content than usual
This is what has been announced: https://www.dndbeyond.com/marketplace/sourcebooks/bigby-presents-glory-of-the-giants-digital-pre
Dang, that's annoying, it only says that there's new content/cosmetics but not what they look like
Any chance of pinging a DnDbeyond staff member who can show me when they're free?
Please don't ping staff - but feel free to ask here again. But the frames and backdrop artwork will obviously be based off the artwork from the book, and there is the Prehistoric Gemstone digital dice.
TY!
Not staff but the backgrounds and frames 😄
Hmm I can't seem to get a replacement feature to work. The first Sapling version goes until level 13, where as the second one is meant to replace the first starting level 14. But it simply doesn't and I don't get why.

hey I was homebrewing a race whos racial is two feats but when I go to select a feat it forces me to choose the same one twice how do I fit this?
When you say “replacement feature”, does that mean a separate class feature with a Feature Type of “Replacement”?
Replacement features are optional class features like the ones in Tasha’s. A user has to opt in to that feature, at which point it replaces a Granted one.
If the user doesn’t opt in, they’ll see no change.
I want this to show up.
oohhhh.. okay uhm.. hm.. how would I make this show up at level 14 then? if possible even
I don’t know of any way to make that appear conditionally.
I doubt it’s possible.
Hm.. then replacement with the opt in it is for now. I thought Replacement was meaning just simply that instead of the tasha features but that makes sense. but that works now, just needs to be noted then I guess.
now to figure out why a BA doesn't get a description shown even though it should be in the right places.
If you edited that description in afterwards, you may need to simply wait. Homebrew edits can sometimes take up to 15 minutes to appear on the character sheet.
Can you share a couple screenshots? How did you set this up, and what happens on the sheet?
I did that about half an hour to an hour ago I believe which is a bit confusing as it normally only takes about 15min. I might just need to redo it if it doesn't show up. But here is how it looks on the sheet, in the Feature and in the Action.
Yeah, that looks like it’s set up correctly.
hhmm.. weird then.. I'll look at it later and if its still is like that.. guess I redo it then
Does anyone know how to add spells for a background? I don't have the strixhaven book on dnd beyond so im trying to add in the silverquill background manually, but it wont let me add the spells! Is there any way to add them without sacrificing my chosen spells?
Actually I ended up answering this, though does anyone know how to add spells with feats?
also answered this myself
Nice work! 😉
when i try to buy a physical and digital bundle it adds it to the cart but when I click go to cart there is nothing but a back to shopping link.
Those bundles aren’t technically sold through D&D Beyond. You may need to contact customer support using the link at the bottom of that page.
But it seems to work fine for me.
I’m having a weird issue with looking at books I have in the D&D Beyond app.
The default selection makes things so dark I can’t see. I found where there three different display settings but both the clean and dark are the same. The only thing at its readable is to use the book option that that formats things weird.
Anyone else notice this or know how to fix it?
What is your app version and what is your OS version?
App is 2.34 (135) and os is 16.5
Can you try to reinstall the app? I don't use iOS myself, but I think this was an issue that had been resolved.
I’ll give it a shot.
That seemed to work. Thanks for the tip.
(i think this question goes here, sorry if i am using the wrong channel!)
im trying to create an item i got in game, that allows me to crit on an 18-20 on attacks. is there a way to make this in the homebrew on dndbeyond, using homebrew modifiers/conditions or whatever it would be counted as? the game uses Beyond20 so ideally, id like it so that when i roll the dice, a 18-20 will show up as a crit in my VTT. normally if i add something as a feature/item in dnd beyond it will automatically consider that with Beyond20 so that is why i believe this is something on dndbeyond's side that i can do, i know there's no support offered for 3rd party stuff here.
i know the champion subclass works with Beyond20, so im assuming there's an option somewhere in the homebrew options of dndbeyond that calculates different ranges as crits, but i cannot find it and was looking for some help.
You could make a homebrew copy of Champion if you want to peek inside and see exactly how it was set up.
i did already, and there's no modifier it looks like.
Since Beyond20 is not an official extension, though, I couldn’t really tell you anything about how it works from their side.
(sorry for the quality, had to zoom out to show it all) its just text, but no modifiers, but im also very lost when it comes to homebrewing so i was wondering if there was a feature i was missing somewhere else that increased the crit range.
if theres not that option thats totally fine, was just asking because i know im very bad at this haha
Yeah, I don’t think there is an option, honestly.
i think i did figure out a solution on beyond20's side just now but i wanted to still see if there was a way to do it on dndbeyond's side as a learning opportunity. no worries and thank you for your help!
I'm trying to find a way to add extra known spells and extra spell slots. Any help?
Maybe create a feat that does it? There may be some hardcoded limitations though - haven't tested it out myself.
I've been trying, but there's a whole lots of options that sound very similar with not much info.
If someone could even just make a feat or something that does that, that would be perfect. I don't care about the name or anything, I just an extra 6th level spell slot and 3 extra known spells.
I don’t believe it’s possible to change the number of spell slots.
For the extra spells, though, I would indeed recommend a homebrew feat.
Instead of spell slots, you can make a once per long rest or short rest
Is anybody else having trouble loading their character sheets?
can i homebrew a weapon without having to base it off of a currently existing weapon? if so how?
I can't load character sheets, I can't even load the "my characters" page
haven't been able to since at least Tuesday
That's odd.
the tab is just constantly on "loading". I've gotten the error messages before, but whatever this is, isn't that.
my DM can get to my page, and I can get to the sheets through the mobile app, but I much prefer to use the website
Fighter 1 with Unarmed
Monk 5 with Astral Self
Why does the die size not change on the Monk attacks as well if they are unarmed. Is that a coding thing?
Currently no as all weapons are based off a "base" item that is created in the database backend. This base item has to exist and your weapon has to be linked to it. Think of it as the "archtype" for that type of weapon.
Try disabling all browser extensions, making sure you have the latest version of the browser installed, and clearing your browser cache (you will need to re-login to the website). Also disable any VPNs when accessing DnDBeyond and allow third-party cookies. If that doesn't resolve it, let us know and we can dig into it more.
Likely a (current) limitation of the character app. Could always create a custom attack on the frontend of the sheet with the correct damage die.
Yeah the unarmed fighting feature doesn't appear to flow down to the other unarmed strikes in the character app.
3 questions:
Why when I was picking stuff from items for one character I could only add a light crossbow, not other crossbows, anyone knows why?
How to do custom dice rolls
How, if you can, to do custom status effects?
- Is your character proficient in other weapons? But other than that, not sure why it won't let you. Unless you're filtering the items.
- Lower left on the web site view of your character sheet there's a red d20 icon. Click it to pop up a list of the different dice and click the amount of dice you need then click the roll button.
- There isn't a way to do custom status effects (conditions/statuses can be found by clicking the conditions box and toggling the appropriate condition).
I suppose you could use the proficiencies section and add custom things that way.
- I checked all the 4 boxes, might be the proificient then
Wdym
I just checked it and that's not going to work well
Can only do Armor, Wepons, Tools, and Languages
I suppose write it in the notes section.
But feel free to suggest custom conditions/effects notes section in #ddb-feedback.
Thanks, got it worked out with a long string of adding damage and hit bonus and dtype force to it so it'll work for now xD
update to this: discovered this morning that I also cannot access the character creation page. same issue.
Have you tried a different browser on your machine? Also make sure to:
- Disable any browser extensions
- Disable any VPN
- Configure browser to accept 3rd party cookies (at least on the DnDBeyond domain/site)
- Clear browser cache/cookies (will need to re-login to DnDBeyond after doing so).
I have cleared the cache/cookies, I don't have a VPN, and the browser is set to accept DNDB cookies. I will try disabling browser extentions for the moment. I have not tried a different browser
disabling extentions did not fix it
currently updating chrome to see if that does... it did not.
I should note that you need the browser to accept third-party cookies as DnDBeyond relies on 3rd party services like Google and Apple for authentication. So if you don't allow 3rd-party cookies, DnDBeyond may not work correctly for you.
I'll double check that
I set Chrome to specifically use cookies and third party cookies on DnDBeyond, and tried the Edge browser. neither worked.
Can you try Firefox? Both Edge and Chrome use the same backend rendering engine (Chromium).
The only other thing I can think of is super aggressive antivirus deciding to block things
It's been known to happen where an antivirus application blocked important javascript on the site thus breaking functionality.
I downloaded firefox and that is the ONLY browser that has worked so far!
I do not have a antivirus program that runs on my browser
No but system-level antivirus has interfered before
so I guess if I have to run DNDB on firefox then okay lol. damn that kinda sucks about the antivirus tho
But what this tells me is that something on your setup is interfering with normal Chrome/Chromium-based browsers being able to use DnDBeyond.
A likely culprit would be any third-party antivirus system. Windows Defender is usually enough for most folks. 3rd-party antivirus are notorious for... breaking things that really didn't need to be broken.
ugh. I've been using super-antivirus, it's been good as a free sweep-through on the whole computer every six months or so. I don't download a whole lot.
is there anything you'd recommend that wouldn't interfere with Chrome/Chromium?
Windows Defender is actually quite good and works well on in most cases.
I'm having a hard time giving a spell I bought to my character.
Found the issue.
So I'm trying to make a barbarian subclass. One of their features is that they get access to a couple of different abilities that are dependant on the weapon, but multiple weapons can use the same action (for example, I have a cleave skill that is used by both greatsword, a longsword and the glaive). Is there a way of making a general ability that uses the concerned weapon or do i need to make specific ones for each weapon?
Either way, you won’t be able to tie it directly to their equipment or anything.
You’d just be adding a feature with the description of what they can do.
You’d use Options if they’re given a choice between different abilities.
More broadly, though, I’d suggest finding an official feature that works similarly to what you want. Then you can make a homebrew copy of it and see exactly how that was set up.
Yeah true, I guess I'll just keep it general then so I don't have to make like 15 different actions 😄
yeah I've been trying to do that when I can but haven't been able to find it in this case, there isn't really any instance that I know of which uses "weapon-specific" actions
Yeah, I’m not aware of any either.
But if your goal is for them to select “Cleave”, then I’d set the option up as that.
And then specify in the description which weapons it can be used with.
HI! I'm new and now I'm approaching this new world. I started by getting the essential kit and the introductory set. I've been playing with some friends of mine and wanted to ask for another set that lasts a bit longer and has a good story at a good price.
Welcome! This channel is for getting technical help with D&D Beyond. The folks in #dnd-newcomers or #dnd-discussion can help with general game questions.
Is there any way to apply infusions to your character sheet?
Yes - in the Extras tab, click the Manage Extras button. Use the dropdown to select Infusions. Add the appropriate infusion.
That’s for adding something like a Homunculus Servant.
Oh you're right.
Infusions are generally handled on the Inventory tab.
What is the "Level divisor" option when adding spells to homebrew feats?
I thiiink when a feat has a choice of multiple spells, that restricts the available spell levels based on your character level.
Maybe a dumb question. Can you edit the avatar image in the digital character sheet?
So if you put a “3” there, a level 12 character could choose spells of up to 4th-level.
Yeah, just click on the avatar and hit Customize Sheet in the sidebar.
You can either pick another pre-made avatar or upload your own.
Does that work on mobile or only desktop? When I tap in on my phone I’m not seeing that option
It works on the website, which you can access on mobile or desktop. It doesn’t work in the mobile app.
But in the mobile app, you can click “Manage Character & Levels” instead, then switch to the Home or Description tabs to change it.
How do you make a non magical weapon
I got it guess create magical item delete the magic effect
How/where do you unlock optional class features in the marketplace?
You’d have to buy the Tasha’s book itself, it’s not available as a piecemeal option like the rest of it.
Bought a book through the app but neither on the app or site does it say i own it or says i already do but cant download it on the app
Can you see the purchase on this page?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/marketplace
If it isn't there, and the app store has taken your money, then you will need to raise a support case with the app store, as it sounds like they haven't informed DDB of your purchase
Yeah i don't see it, thx tho
Were you logged in to the right account when you purchased it?
Only got 1
Maybe give it 15 minutes and try checking your DnDBeyond account again (caching might be at fault).
But yes, if you can confirm that the card was charged but it's not showing up in your DnDBeyond account, reach out to customer service.
Already submitted a refund, so i hope it'll work out fine.
If you fight an intellect devour and it takes your intelligence away, how do you "gain intellect" in combat or is that possible
Would be nice to get an answer pretty fast please
Wrong channel I'm afraid, this channel is for getting help using the D&D Beyond site, tools, and services
You might try asking in #dnd-discussion instead.
Hello everyone! I have a campaign I'm running and one of the players in my campaign when the unequip their armor/shield etc. has their armor class remain... at 20. They are paladin with full plate and shield. When they take it off... the AC stays 20. When they put it on... it stays at 20. Dex is 14. lvl 4 paladin lvl 1 warlock. Broken sheet?
Can you provide a link to the affected character?
They've set their overide AC to 20
that means no matter what armor they do or do not equip, their ac will always be 20
So they likely attempted to a little bit of a cheat, or it was just a mistake to test it out
Hello! Does anyone know if its possible to make a hover box of a homebrew spell when creating monsters? You know, how we use the [spell] tag.🤔
No, tooltips only work for official spells.
Awh shoot. Thank you!
Hi new here. I have a question regarding DDB app. There does not seem to be a screen for me to use my DDB account login on the app, only options are Wizard, Google and Twitch. Is this the case for everyone or am I missing something?
There’s no such thing as a DDB account login.
When DDB was first created, the site was owned by Twitch, so login was only possible through a Twitch account.
How do I get the game-
What do you mean?
How do I play DnD
There's a find a game channel
But is there a game like on PC or smth-
There are video games based on D&D, but D&D itself is basically just you and your friends telling a story together. #dnd-newcomers can help you get started.
Oh
(This channel is for technical help with dndbeyond.com)
Ty
why roll 4 d6, and only count the first one? what does the gray number mean?
Hi, I have looked at buying the Fairy race that's included in the book wild beyond the witchlight on dnd beyond but can't see the option, there are options to buy individual backgrounds and monsters but not races? Any help appreciated
The individual purchase can be found in Monsters of the Multiverse instead.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/marketplace/sourcebooks/mordenkainen-presents-monsters-of-the-multiverse
Buying the full book for WBTW would also unlock it.
is anybody else having trouble signing into dnd beyond with google?
What kind of trouble, exactly?
Hey, how in heavens name do I unlock the artificer and a subclass on dnd beyond? I found a post which said I should be able to "unlock" a single subclassby purchasing something but for the life of me I cannot find it on the site.
I expected it to be here somehwere?
Go to Sourcebooks and then choose Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything. From there, you should be able to see the entire page listing out subclasses, magic items, etc. Click to purchase any artificer subclass and you should be able to buy from there.
Awesome thanks! I was looking under the shop section! That saved me a lot of time!
Keep in mind that Artificer has some of the magic items they can make pull from the DMG and Tasha's as well, so you'd be good to also buy those magic items as well (because I don't believe they're included with).
Oh! interesting. I hadn't realised that
There's only like 5 out of 50 that aren't already available in the Basic Rules.
so if I purchased the hard back book from Amazon (im in the UK) does this come with the codes to unlock everything on the DND beyond site?
- Alchemy Jug
- Cap of Water Breathing
- Sending Stones
- Gloves of Thievery
- Quiver of Ehlonna
Currently only the purchases here include digital codes:
https://dndstore.wizards.com
ok thats good to know! thanks
Hi guys im looking for help with making an ability for my Homebrew subclass and i just cant seem to make it work
Where exactly are you stuck?
So theres 2 things
1st im trying to make it scale with level and im also trying to make it be 1d4 + half your barbarians level
And i have no clue what to type in fixed value
Starting at 3rd level, if you make a melee weapon attack on your turn while you're raging and the target is damaged you can add 1d4 + half your barbarian level to the attack's damage roll on a hit. You can only deal bonus damage using this feature once per turn.
This increases to 2d4 at level 6, 3d4 at level 11, 4d4 at level 16 and 6d4 at level 20.
This is the entire idea
I assume you want this to be rollable, correct?
What do you mean
You want to be able to click on it and have it roll a digital d4 and add half the barbarian level to the result?
Then Level Scale is not what you need.
To make it rollable, you'll need to add an Action. Make sure "Display as Attack" is checked.
Why are the expanded spell list options for warlocks, specifically the ones of 6th level or higher unable to be chosen for mystic arcanums
Trying to figure out how to put gate on my boi and even though the feature is enabled it’s not showing up
Is it a me being silly issue or a ddb oversight
Then after you save it, you can edit it again, and you'll find a Level Overrides option there.
You'll need to add a separate entry for every level at which the roll amount changes. In your case, that's every other level.
And the fixed value in your case would be half that level.
Do you have the Additional Warlock Spells optional class feature enabled?
Yes
Is there a way to specify if im under Rage?
So at level 4, you'd set the Fixed Value to 2. Then you'd add a separate one at level 6, with a Fixed Value of 3.
@bold void Can you provide a link to the character?
Scratch that, that wont matter
You'll use the same tactic to account for when the die count changes as well.
Ill give it a shot, thanks!
That's a known issue.
OPTIONAL SPELLS. Gate & Weird spells are not showing as being available for the Mystic Arcanum feature.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/bugs-support/87774-tashas-cauldron-of-everything-issues-and-support
You could potentially leave your Arcanum unselected and add the spell using a homebrew feat instead.
Umm so adding half the barbarians level is under fixed valeu right?
Wait nvm i see what yo usaid
Waiting for the site to load lol
A character link won't change anything. It's a known issue. ☝🏻
That's only for those 2 9th level spells. Leifless said that no optional spells of 6th level or higher were selectable
Unless it's just those two spells you're having difficulty with @bold void ?
It was just that
Weird issue
I think due to a quirk of the rules, the others show up regardless of whether you've enabled the Optional Class Feature.
(i.e. they count as warlock spells regardless, so they show up naturally.)
Yeah I think it’s the ones that are re released in tcoe
They are considered warlock spells
Whereas Gate and Weird only conditionally count as Warlock spells, and that's where Mystic Arcanum has trouble.
The sign in with google button wasn’t working
It wasn’t allowing me to sign into my account
In what way does it not allow you to sign in?
My account is linked to my gmail
And the button to sign in with google wasn’t working
By "wasn't working", do you mean to say that when you click the button, nothing happens?
And if not that, then what steps are you taking and what happens (or doesn't happen) as a result?
The more specific you are, the better we can help.
Nothing happens when I click it
Then it's probably one of two things.
- Make sure you have pop-ups enabled.
- If you're using Chrome, make sure you have Third-Party Cookies enabled.
Spam i have a question
So i got it to work somewhat but theres a small problem. Im level 4 here but its adding +7 and i removed the strength modifier i think
Did you have the Strength in there at first and removed it after?
Sometimes homebrew edits can take up to 15 minutes to show up on your sheet.
Oh i had the strength in befor
I just removed it recently ill give it a second to update then
Ok so I am using the DND character builder for the first time. I can get to the end and all seems ok, however I don't see where my "background" (the long bit I have typed in) appaears on the character page or PDF ? am I missing something?
it’ll be in the description section of your sheet
there’s a section specifically for your backstory if you scroll down on this page
I thought it might appear here?
copy and paste your backstory into the backstory section, then it’ll be in the notes tab of your sheet
cause on the sheet it’ll only show your background feature, not the description of the background
How do you enable pop ups
there is this "Notes" section on the character sheet, which includes a backstory section but I have no idea where, if anywhere, the "Custom Background" appears? (see my first image above)
