Yep - buying the book as a whole on DDB grants you access to the compendium content for that book as well as all of the individual content within it - i.e. use of that content in DDB's other tools (character builder, encounter builder) and in the listings for classes, monsters, spells, etc.

Try going back and hitting the main save button. That should retrigger the validation for it.

But also, those warnings only matter if you’re trying to publish it to the global community.

Hi, long time user, first time poster.
Not sure if this is the right place for a question like this, as it's possibly a bug - the To Hit value on the character sheet for one of my players is incorrect.
It's a Ranger 2 with DEX 13 and Archery Fighting Style, so should be getting +5 to crossbow attack, but the sheet shows up +11. I checked and it's like this for all ranged weapons. No extra feats, the race is Mark of Finding Half-orc. I don't know if there is something I'm missing here, but I also can't see any way of drilling down to how to check the calculation for that modifier in the UI.
Is there any way of figuring out what's included in that value (similar to how you get the snippet code when you hover over one in your actions list)?

Fixed it; the Archery Fighting Style had been applied twice, likely due to something like having the sheet open in two tabs at once or something and selecting the fighting style in both tabs

This causes a compounding error when it happens

Removing the fighting style (twice) and re-adding it (once) fixes things

Quick question... I purchase a sourcebook over on Roll20. Today I opened up DNDBeyond mobile and noticed the same sourcebook I purchased on Roll20 was available to download and said, "Shared with me" next to it. Odd... I went to the non mobile DDB and checked all my campaigns. I'm the only one running any that are listed. I took a look at my linked accounts and roll20 is not an option.

Any ideas on how or why I'm able to now see this sourcebook since the two companies are not linked? (or are they?) I'm enjoying the strangeness! But looking to now HOW/WHY? Any ideas? Can players share source?

Looks like I can disable it in my campaign, it's not necessary but I imagine if I disable it, then it disables the sharing of that content for everyone. Interesting. Very cool.

Another helpful trick I use is to go to the Magic Items page. Inside the advanced filters, you'll find "Effect Type" and "Effect Subtype". You can select whichever combo you're interested in to see which magic items use it (if any).

To share content someone in the campaign needs to have a Master Tier subscription. Then the DM of the campaign can toggle content sharing which allows everyone’s purchases content to be shared within that campaign.

Then you’ll need to meet the prerequisites for the feat before you can use it.

You could use the DDB homebrew tools to make a copy of the feat and tweak it so no prerequisites are required - just don’t publish it to publicly share it.

I found a way around it, i had to cancel the subscription, as it kept showing error messages without me being able to do anything, and then i re-subscribes somehow again while it partially kept logging me out at random intervals

They had a vpn on but turned it off. Ad blocker was turned off. They are running Above VTT cause we're trying to start using that but this issue was going on before getting that extension.

AboveVTT can also cause issues (it's not supported by DnDBeyond). After having all the extensions/vpns disabled, try restarting the browser and see if that fixes it.

The issue I've come upon however is that my players do not have access to the races that the other handbooks provide. Is this something that is intentional or is there a fix to this issue.

I would not recommend joining campaigns just to access shared content, and instead focus on joining because you want to play in the campaign
As for your second question; shared content that is added to your sheet will persist after you you leave the campaign/content sharing is disabled, but you won't have access to the shared content in general

Say you're in a campaign and Mythic Odysseys of Theros is being shared with you. You'll be able to pick the College of Eloquence bard subclass to your character and the Two-Birds Sling, as well as read the book.
You leave the campaign; your character will keep the subclass and magic item, but you won't be able to add new items to your sheet from that book, nor read the book itself. If you were to remove the Two-Birds Sling from your character sheet, you wouldn't be able to access it

It's like having a library card; as long as you have the card you can take books out from the library, return them, get more books out
But if your library card expires, you may still be able to keep the books you currently have (albeit incurring a fine), but you won't be able to get out new books until you get a new card

For questions about moderation, please use #moderator-support . But basically any material from D&D published sources that is not SRD should not be distributed via DDB's homebrew system (they shouldn't be published to the general community). If you make it yourself and don't "publish" it (e.g. make it public to share with others outside of your games), this is fine. But if you publish it and make it available to others outside of your games, this would be a breach of the Terms of Service and illegal distribution. I hope that answers your question.

Luna Sorcery isn't a class, it's a subclass. You'll need to select Sorcerer and then select Luna Sorcery

You will also need to make sure your character meets the multiclassing requirements

With few exceptions, the physical books don’t typically come with digital codes.

You could use the homebrew tools to recreate that content, though.

Or you could buy just the parts you need, like a single subclass. (Whatever you spend gets credited toward the cost of the book itself, too.)

I... Think I found a possible Bug or something is not working as intended. When you select the Feat "Fighting Initiate" with Superior Technique, it does not let you select the Battle Master Maneuver you select. Whereas when you select "Martial Adept" it allows you to select them. While I know Martial Adept is much better than Fighting Initiate, I am planning on taking both.

So I'm trying to create a homebrewed race for a campaign I'm about to start. I seem to be struggling with setting up the part of it.

One of the racial traits provides a number of options for for race and the players are allowed to choose of those options. Unfortunately every time I test build a character with the race it only allows 1 option to be chosen.

How do I rectify this to provide 2 option choice dropdown menus, without having to completely copy the racial trait again?

Then you probably need to redownload them. You might need to delete them first; sometimes the phones OS can corrupt the stored data (sometimes as part of storage optimisation)

Open your Racial Feature and look for a field called Character Levels Where Options Know. Putting something like 1,1,5 there, for example, would allow for two choices at level 1 and another at level 5.

The statblock you saw before was for the original ERFTLW rules. The current version under the revised TCOE rules isn’t compatible with the Extras tab at this time.

If you really want it in Extras, you can create it as a homebrew monster and calculate its stats based on your character.

Hello, I am having problems with joining a campaign with a pre-made character and getting a small error in red saying 'You must select a character' even as I already selected one. Not only that, it happened with other pre-made characters I have and other campaigns made by the same person as part of an westmarch server.

Is there a means of fixing it? As I am on mobile and tried the desktop site but that was no change. I do not know if it is simply just me or something wrong with the mobile site of it.

Inside your class feature, you’d add an Option for each skill on the list.

Inside each one, you’ll add a Modifier for proficiency in that skill.

Then in the class feature itself, you’ll also need a field called Class Levels Where Options Known.

If you put 3,3,10 for example, that will let them pick two choices at level 3 and another at level 10.

For the second, you can probably skip Options entirely (unless the other choices aren’t for an ability score increase). Just add a Modifier as shown above, but select “Choose an Ability” for the subtype instead.

Yeah, that’s not gonna work. That one adds piercing damage for homebrew magic items.

If your bonus only applies to piercing weapons, you may need to manually add that bonus directly on your character sheet.

(Unless you can find an official game feature that adds a bonus to piercing weapons. Then you can make a homebrew copy of it and see how they set it up. There’s none that I’m aware of, though.)

Hi, I'm new here and I'm wondering what is the best solution to add a Genie’s Vessel in the D&D Beyond builder as the items do not exist as far as I searched?

hi, i'm really enjoying my character on d&d beyond, but my DM is asking why my Strength is so high (4 more than normal) when I just use the Standard Array. It looks like the max my Strength should be is 17 if I use the ability score increase of 2 on top of the standard 15, but i've used 15 for strength and only +1 for ability score increase, and it's showing my strength as 20 for a 1st level Paladin, which seems wrong to my DM. It seems one of my players Oath of Ancients Paladin is being forced to take a homebrew spell called "Tree Meld" that is not part of Oath of Ancients normally but is being treated as "always prepared".

They aren't using a homebrew version of Oath of Ancients and they've removed the spell from their homebrew collection. Yet the "always prepared" homebrew spell remains as a Paladin spell that we cannot get rid of.

I just tested it, it seems to break when someone new joins the campaign and tries to create a character. If they join with a pre-made one it doesn't break. But the issue is it breaks the whole campaign page with every single character.

I would suggest re-adding the spell to their collection, then removing the subclass from that field.

Yes - you need access to the spell (either via the spell/PHB or via sharing) to see it on the sheet. The subclass does not give access, the subclass links to the spell

And if sharing is disabled, or the character is deactivated/inactive, then it is not being shared to, and therefore wont see the spell

If you turn off sharing, or a character is disabled (and thus not having anything shared with them), then spells that are automatically granted (like the subclass spells from the fathomless) that rely on sharing wont show.

That is how it has worked since the start of 2018 when we first brought in content sharing

Yes, it is why we have always suggested to remove any shared content if a character is losing content sharing, or not to change them (including levelling up) as it can cause issues when they dont have access to the content correctly.

Well sometimesa player might not know in advance that they are going to lose content sharing. Breaking characters that way (without even changing anything about the character itself) seems like a bad idea to me.

About to have a D&D session, I'm the DM, and all the players have their characters in our shared campaign. But for some reason I can't access one of them, even though the character is visible in the campaign. Hey so, I have relented to my players to move over to D&D Beyond, but I have a lot of homebrew races, feats, classes, ect. So if I want my players to be able to play them, do I have to wait for moderators to approve them?

No, for two reasons

1. The system approves homebrew automatically once submitted
2. This is the important one You don't need to publish homebrew to use it in a campaign. All homebrew in your collection (ie that you've made) will be automatically shared with your players as long as you're all in a campaign together
