I mean I’ve played before with DMs who I’ve struggled to fully understand. There was one I played with who wouldn’t fully enunciate words, so it was hard to understand exactly what he meant.

What’s helped me immensely is just giving notes to players. I don’t write a recap of events or anything but i have a spelling channel where I post any proper nouns that come up. It just helps everyone.

I'd say if your players behave this way, don't jump to thinking they're the problem, just something to work with, like: having shared HP pools, puzzle‑mechanics, immunities that rotate, and maybe bosses that punish solo play

Is it true that Warforged is banned in many tables?

Since it's a species from an expanded book (eberron), I suspect it's not uncommon that it's not allowed yeah.

"they're cool" is a sufficient justification in as many tables as they're banned in, I reckon

Does abjurer wizards magic defense stack with resistances? So like if a fireball did 40 damage (lowball), you would halve it from succeeding in the saving throw (which you’d have advantage), halve it from fire res, and halve it from spell resistance?

Is it too late to decide to multiclass into Worlock?

My character is a lvl 3 Wild Magic Sorcerer (5E rules) and is well established We all know who I am. Though the DM hasn't gotten into tying our personal stories into the plot of the campaign yet, he has been
hinted that it's going to come soon. He's even said about my character, "I know what I'm going to do with you. I'm still working on the other guys".
I know having a Worlock adds more work for the DM, what with having to work with me build and roll play a patron and all. And I know, if I ask him he'll say yes, even if it means he has to throw away everything he's planned for me. And I don't want him to do that.

Do people who want to multiclass have that plan and announced from the start?

Don't get me wrong, I love to just play a rock'em sock'em adventure game and take down enemies, loot treasure and all that myself. But I also like to think about TTRPGs as an artform in my free time, and what they say and mean to us as humans and part of our very human urge to be creative.

Tbh, the only way I could imagine doing romance is by having an NPC just bluntly going "You are attractive. Do you reciprocate."

I think through what im doing when making actions and consequences. A good dm will add those into it to make players realize what actions can come with. In one campaign I was in, the DM introduced a mechanic he called “Fancy Fighting”, which was that we could come up with crazy things for our characters to do based on existing abilities, at no extra cost except that we all understood it was to be used for powerful story beats. It worked because the group knew each other really well and led to some awesome moments, like the monk tackling miniboss through a wooden wall.

why do you need to counter another(?) player?

My character is a paranoid cleric who's being surrounded by a bunch of people with a transformation where he's practically the only "undead" and is being forced to work with the group because of a bigger matter at hand and he needs them.

I've killed a red shadow dragon wyrmling, (my fire resistance at lv 1 was why that fight was winnable for the party), an ancient green when we were in the Feywild at higher levels, and i boxed a blue dracolich after that and he didnt even bloody me. on our way to fight the same dracolich soon after they've been super powered up by a nether scroll for months

They're monsters that used to be people, like Sammaster

knotty vine
#

they are native to our world

rough basalt
#

Thats true

knotty vine
#

and they are strong enough to make a pact with

eager marsh
#

being an ascendant dragon monk adds even more flavor to it

rough basalt
#

But in order to become patron worthy they destroyed a planet

eager marsh
#

Basically there's not a real valid argument against a Dragon Patron Warlock Subclass. WotC are just cowards

rough basalt
#

not just hit level 20

knotty vine
#

I still think its wild that Ghost In The Machine is UA

#

I mean if they new villian options come out

eager marsh
#

hi bored, I'm Ryu

knotty vine
#

And you become a Lich by level 14

rough basalt
#

Hi Ryu, I'm Dad

eager marsh
#

Nice try I dont have a dad

rough basalt
knotty vine
#

Are you strong enough to make a pact with at that point

#

Cause you also count as undead

rough basalt
#

I mean what power are you giving someone

knotty vine
#

The power to cast eldritch blast (undead or undying)

#

Cause you are undead and undying

rough basalt
#

How? Where's your "bestow warlock powers feature" PC?

fickle field
#

Aye, what's good DND chat?

eager marsh
#

Not a single creature has a feature for that, even the ones named as examples in worlock descriptions

knotty vine
#

Yeah no creature has that feature

rough basalt
eager marsh
#

irrelevant

knotty vine
#

But you are also a monster in a way

eager marsh
#

stat blocks only do what they say. you cant one way the argument

knotty vine
#

You are a lich now

rough basalt
#

Relevant, PCs abide by different rules.

fickle field
#

So, what are we discussing about?

knotty vine
#

If a lich PC can make someone a warlock

#

I think they can

rough basalt
#

I think if they intended for that to be allowed, itd be in the features.

fickle field
eager marsh
#

Anything making someone a warlock is DM discretion. Even your patron chosen as a player is DM permitted

uncut zenith
knotty vine
#

True

fickle field
knotty vine
#

So what stops a undead/lich PC from making somebody a warlock

uncut zenith
#

Thanks

eager marsh
rough basalt

It was a ranger sub

#

It's what it gets for being ranger - old wotc team

Beast master prem is the best way to talk about Drake warden

My players just reached level 6 I can finally use spellcasters that have 9th level spells for them to fight evilcat

Ascendant Dragon monk was really fun

I enjoy draconic subclasses

ok i havent played it for a while i could have sworn there was when it was first being tested

I haven't played a Monk in a regular game yet

Monk subclass

undone rain
#

I want to try out monk but idk which subclass fits me

void crown
#

i remember because i remade it in a balanced way for the game that would let me just have a drake

fickle field
knotty vine
#

Tho it was bought down by how poorly monk was treated in 2014

#

Tasha kinda made it better

rough basalt
#

Artificer, Barbarian and Monk are the three classes I haven't played in a regular campaign yet

eager marsh
#

My Dragonborn Ascendant Dragon Monk (2024) is currently lv 16. It's been a fun class from start to end. Having Grappler makes it even more entertaining.

knotty vine
#

But base monk was just not it

uncut zenith
void crown
#

yea i found it

#

the Drakewarden subclass previously had a time limit in its Unearthed Arcana (UA) playtest version, where the drake would vanish after a number of hours equal to the ranger's proficiency bonus.

rough basalt
#

Oh and Ranger

undone rain
#

Yeehaw ranger

knotty vine
#

Even ranger was a bit better then monk in 2014

fickle field
#

Ranger with druid goes hard.

knotty vine
#

What

fickle field
#

I thought we were talking about classes.

knotty vine
#

Why would you use druid and ranger.

rough basalt
#

Ye Ranger, and Barb being kinda eh and having subclasses that didn't appeal to me is why I didn't play them.

uncut zenith
#

The funny thing is, if Drakewarden was designed as a pet subclass for warlocks instead of Ranger I probably would’ve been pretty happy with it

rough basalt
#

Monk being bad was that one's reason.
