Great
Mindflayer is very deadly to that party, but they can win with some luck
but they are likely to TPK
yeah.... that is why i say, write everything thinking that the failure is the rule. BEside that, bad luck ngl
Wait...
Omegon... You're a mindflayer!
How'd you separate from the Hivemind?
Understatement
I'm thinking of making an old lady in the woods an adult oblex, or at least, being impersonated by an adult oblex
Ah, that d20. It'll getcha.
I'm one of only 13 who are immune
what?
3 of the rolls that were done to accomplish something important, nat 1
what's a decent amount of goblins for 3 people at level 3 to fight?
Yep, welcome to DnD.
Hope your next planning and session go better buddy
according to the encounter math, yeah. I would not recommend it lol
Yes.
(seriously, depend of what they are, but most of the time 5 or 6)
Alright so that'll be 8 goblins
One of them has to be a warlock
i think 14 goblins might be doable
we had 8 for lv 2 with 4 people and we easily did it (it was basically 2 i also did nothing kinda..)
warlock did almost nothing
Omegon be playing to much BG 3
it's a wizard, fighter, and a rogue
Oh, yeah. Did I mention that this is only the first 40 minutes of the ongoing session?
A Cleric would be pretty good, as mentioned š§
I'm too lazy to explain what a cleric does to them
look at me, already starting to sound like a DM
That's definitely not how a dm SHOULD sound lol
I hot a soft spot for Half-Orcs
Just sayin'
Like I said, I feel like Wizards, Rogues, and Fighters are the most recognizable with no prior knowledge to DnD
Yeah, but then they lack someone to heal them
At the very minimum, give them a decent supply of health Potions
that too
But, yeah, Paladins also exist
it sound like i was in your session
Yeah buddy, at least you can be nice and give them a short rest or something later to hype them up
Oh yeah... I should
Campaign im playing right now dm not pulling any punches and i love it
Well it's kinda just an idea right now cause I didn't know if I'd find anyone who'd be interested. But I guess the idea is that something is wrong with the world on like an elemental level and the players have to find out why strange things keep happening to the land and nature.
Make them fight a mind goblin
Don't say it
Bards bro!!
Just got another long rest. Food from animals killed was burnt to a crisp
I'm not giving them the option to romance every thing they see, they are degenerates and I know their behavior
Rogue also has subclasses that are a bit more complicated than Fighter, Wizard and Cleric, in my humble opinion
And you did say the party was level 3
I wanna say it but the mods on here probably wonāt like it lol
what you are talking
Im legit curious
my first time DMing for friends, to get them hooked on DnD
They have never played DnD before and I made premade characters for them
Oh yeah which DND game youāre playing
remind them they can use items and stuff sometimes, you can use gold, food, etc. instead of some checks and then you can save that burden
50gp to the bartender for some dark info (persuasion)
Some meat to the dogs so they dont attack you (animal handling)
etc. etc.
And can sacrifice some items too, put the axe under the wagoon that is crushing someone, instead of STR check for maintain it up and dont end up crushing the person, teh character put his axe and get broke but didnt got to risk in a check
Anyway it's Elf Wizard, Human Fighter, and Orc Rogue
Cant go wrong with curse of strahd
For what
My own oneshot for them
Orc Rogue? Why not a Halfling Rogue, Orc having a bonus action dash is a bit redundant on Rogue
Oh cool
I'm not the DM
But I did roll a 10 on the d12 to recover 10 rations
Also, I'd associate Halflings with Rogues more than Orcs :p
I did want to use a halfling, but alas, here we are
Hope you enjoy š
My man wants to play as frodo
... these are pre-made characters you said? You're the one who made them smh.
Okay, well work on that a bit. Get a first adventure together, a problem to solve, some opposition, complications. Something relevant to the overall of the campaign.
ooohhh, okey okey, then it is what it is brosky, still you can use this info and maybe your dm like it
So go and play with him
My friends hated the lord of the rings, especially frodo, so I abstained
Why not a Tiefling Rogue then? š§
What info again?
So you made character for them?
Yeah, they know nothing about DnD, so I'm doing it for them, but if they did want to make their own character they're free to if they want
Using resources instead of using the save checks or actions.
just checked, realized Tieflings were free on DnD beyond so thanks
Gotcha. Still massively unfortunate, though
Oh yeah Well Iām curious to know your friends experience first time in Dnd
yep, embrace that bad luck and move forward, you will get luckier moments too
Now if the whole campaign get lower than 10 in the dice all the time, considerate a church or some witch

alright character sheets are done I just need to remember the encounters, their stat blocks and how to do improv
how do DMs do this...
i'm like 90% sure they're magic
This the pyramid thing?
I'm doing my hardest to make this storyline simple
They meet up at a tavern, they get a quest to save someone, they get ambushed by goblins, then they fight an Adult Oblex in the woods, they get a short rest and level up then they rescue someone from the mini BBEG
Pyramid thing? what pyramid thing
I'm 100% sure you're magic, but I just can't prove it
me?
Lol
My DM put me in a dream sequence where my entire home got pillaged and was being rotisserie cooked and the first thing is asked was, "Am I seasoned? I refuse to be eaten if I'm not seasoned."
Silly Billy moment
beautiful
i actually made a naga clown bard a while back
That's adorable lmao
i still haven't drawn them except for a really poorly colored sketch:(
Dm! I wanna seeee
okii
Someone else, apologies.
š«
Damn. Five year old reply.
Need to stop making all my characters dragonborn
heh

same, they cool tho
Who's performing Necromancing here?

How long do you plan the session to be and what do you have for exploration and interaction there?
Please do not just post single emojis. (We count that as spam here)
exploration would be from the town they came from to the lair of the villain, I am not letting them explore the forest, I'm not hiding plot points behind dice
for interaction I have the barkeeper npc, the horde of goblins, the old lady in the woods, and the mini BBEG
Owlbear in the forest boss fight
speaking of which, can 3 people at level 4 beat a Stone golem?
CR of Stone Golem is 10
Those are beefy boys
alright then a Hydra, CR 8
No, unless they have some serious in their favor circumstances
Hydra might actually be good idea, its heads will regrow if they dont use fire damage WHICH the wizard has Fire Bolt for
No indeed
Real rough rule of thumb, if a creatureās attack does on average half of the weakest character's HP, it's going to be a proper fight.
Legit i would atleast wait til they are level 5
Only 3 of them? Yeah no a Hydra or a Stone golem murders them fast.
Would not even be a fight, straight massacre
Youāll want to look at Cr6 monsters at most with that many players
Good ol owlbear
Thatās Cr3. But a pair of them can work I suppose
Well on top of my head for cr 6 i think an ogre or troll would be a good fight
Cr2 for Ogres
Whatās the goal of this encounter?
If itās meant to be some magic guardian then a pair of Helmed Horrors can do the same job as a Stone Golem.
Final fight of the oneshot, where the 3 players are level 4
hm...
They are also in the same tier of player as the party.
Or you could do a Helmed horror with back up from 2-4 regular Animated Armors/Swords
Evil spellcaster with an ogre
that's CR 4 though, a thing they have to fight at level 3 is CR 5 (Adult Oblex)
So give it back up.
Right, thanks Nealen
Action economy and team synergy is what makes fights actually hard in DnD .
Not every enemy has to be big damage either.
I'm just gonna re-adjust the encounter so that the person they were going to save was already consumed by an Adult Oblex
so encounters go like
12 Goblins, Helmed Horror, and then Adult Oblex
for the goblins and helmed horror they will be level 3, for adult oblex they will be level 4
That goblin encounter may take a while but looks good.
Yeah, gonna make it so if they take out their leader quickly then the rest will disengage
true, you can just add the "danger" of an enemy, flanking is a way of it
Grappling, less damage attacks, etc. etc.
Noice
Yeah an encounter with a Barbarian got very iffy for my Tuesday group when she grappled and chucked players off a cliff into monster infested territory
Then 1v1 anyone she could handle
When making parties go against hordes its good that you dont just, throw the 20 goblins above the party
Some can be archers, there can be a chaman throwing small spells, etc. etc.
others that arent good with bows throw rocks or just poop
Hi, I just joined this discord server and me and my friends want to start playing dnd and i even made a discord server for it with dice and allat and character linking but 2 of my friends who want to dm dont really know how to and we were wondering if any dm's wanna help us learn how to actually play and play with us because we have been itching to play!
I just hope my party doesn't start murdering each other
#dnd-newcomers and #dm-discussion is really helpful
Idk, I donāt think I should show up for session tonight
give them a common enemy, that most of time work
I have a character backstory but I have no idea what kind of a class fits.
Cover it in the pregame brief that they're all friends and on the job together.
I am bribing them with food, which I already was gonna order anyway
Three Sentence version, #character-discussion ?
They linked a channel for you to discuss the character
can I be evil with the helmed horror and say "you see an armor stand" so they will walk into its blindsight radius?
Sure up to you.
that is one thing i love of DND, while more you know, more fear you have to lil things
"there is a chest in the room, there is nothing else in the room"
Yep could be mimics, invisible stalkers, a secret explosive, an illusion, etc.
One important rule my dm says, a monster that at 1 hp can do the same thing as one at full hp
That is a thing in normal DnD most of the time, yes.
I would add a plus one due to desperation for survival
But that's just me
or a slime cube that if you go through you get trapped and melted to death.
Etc.etc. Its amazing
Pretty sure the desperation cancels out the exhaustion of their wounds to still be at full power
Wassup choombas!?
Im BRAND new to D&D (I blame Stranger Things)
So if anyone wants to teach me, feel free do drop a DM please and thank ya!
Hello. Iām new to dnd and wanted to learn or at least attempt to learn
Theres soooo much, and I quite like that!
Dnd Saturdays
#dnd-newcomers has a lot of people that can help y'all
Thanks @severe rampart !
how common is reversing aging a common spell in dnd worlds?
but if youre like a wizard thats like the most important spell you would want to learn
FIREBALL
/hj
Counterspell.
Detect magic, counterspell, shield, dispel magicā¦
Simulacrum, Fly, Clone...
Misty stepā¦
Ello
Basket Trick...
hellooo how are u doing
Probably a kickflip
Doing well, how are you?
doing fine thanks ! \o/
can anyone help me make a dnd character?
i wanna remake my character with the revised rules
heller
I'm EVIL and MALICIOUS >:]
stop being a goober tokii
Can someone check this character- https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/158528785
The paladin player on my table, is complaining that he feels weak compared to the sorceror and ranger, now at level 3. While he was the strongest among all at level 1... i even gave him 2 magic items, i am not sure how to fix this..
Thats the name of my game.
ok goob
no IM a goofy goober
I'm a goober.
I radiate silly.
indeed
much silly
very silly
And probably gamma rays, but we ignore that
lmao
lol
i rly do need halp with my character
i think it could be a skill issue on their part. Are they casting their spells regularly or using their channel divinities?
You know?
For a silly man
My characters sure are never silly š
it happens soemtimes, people complain about being weak and just arent using their kit right
real bro, real i'll tell you how my tabaxi cleric got into the campaign in a min
Using mostly divine smite on attacks
Not using channel divinity as much
My up and coming character is a Centaur Barbarian in the Zhentarim that wants to conquer the hells in the name of Bane.
I guess that's KINDA silly?
kindaaa if u don't have glasses on
woof
Sure, anything specific?
can we do vc?
I see youāve met our resident dragon Themberchaud
anyone know any 3.5e char sheets?
well the sheet itself seems like a perfectly competent, even above average paladin for the level
my only guess could be that the other two party members are really metagamey, or the paladin's just having really bad luck
or possibly your combats are too easy
i hav crazy idea
Iād prefer not too
ok
To show his Devotion to Bane and the Zhentarim he even has the Zhentarim symbol seared onto his chest :>
You can find fillable pdfs pretty easily
what do those words mean
i want to make a tiefling character but am stuck basicly everywhere else
aah yes my bad. I should have searched first. I assumed they're harder to find now
We should have a #resources channel for stuff like that
I could maybe send you a guide?
Can you suggest some better spells they can take
The Zhentarim are a mercenary group
Bane is a Deity of Conquest
He has their symbol branded onto his chest lol
lemme guess jocat's a crap guide to dnd?
Nah the older editions are actually a lot easier to find bc they only really care about 5e now
if so then good guide
gm
ohhhhh cool, i kinda wanna make a centaur only because they're considered medium creatures (last tine i checked) and can ride horses
Centaurs can ride horses?
Yes.
i could see use in swapping out spare the dying for a ranged attack cantrip or just other utility cantrip, since spare the dying isnt that useful of a spell
Protection from evil and good is decent-ish but it's a situational defensive spell, something like compelled duel or sanctuary might have more use in that job
also id say if theyre not using lay on hands as much, its worthwhile to have it more for extra healing, or prepping cure wounds just in case, but probably not needed
i'm pretty sure
There's no rules saying they can't lmao
last time I checked medium creatures are allowed to ride horses and centers are medium
Loopholes, loopholes
Okay thanks
Literally not a loophole, Centaurs can ride a horse perfectly within the rules
how would it work tho, i wanna draw it
The player character version can, at least
Can a centaur ride another centaur?
probably
Yeah they can stack
No, because Centaurs are both medium sized creatures as player characters.
Oh true
... what if enlarge/reduce
There used to be a 3.5 meme of stacking centaurs
no centaur piggy back rides
ooo good idea
We actually had a meme horse named Bojangles who was world famous because he was the only horse who could ride another horse
Stack 3 centaurs by keeping one the same, enlarging one, and then reducing one
Like those Russian nesting dolls
I was just gonna say it's a nesting doll situation
horse plinko board
Guess I just Echo'd your words
Mind link
"Equine Build. You count as one size larger when determining your carrying capacity and the weight you can push or drag.
In addition, any climb that requires hands and feet is especially difficult for you because of your equine legs. When you make such a climb, each foot of movement costs you 4 extra feet instead of the normal 1 extra foot."
Technically, it's not even within the trait that you can even ride a centaur, dms just typically allow it so long as you're a size smaller
Mind flayer energy!!!!1!
Can a horse ride a centaur
Horse legs are the same as human middle fingers centaurs are flipping people off six fold
Guys what if i had a blood bowl game inside of a dnd campaign
a what
Sounds like something played at Halloween Tupperware parties.
Technically the centaur doesn't have ride in the stat sheet like Tokii said so if you wanted to be crunchy you could argue that, but if you're letting a size smaller ride maybe a pony could
Your DM could also make the argument that a pony doesn't have hands which makes it kind of hard to mount
how did this happen
No as horses are a size larger than a Centaur PC
did i start this? i forgot
You did lmao
Can an artificer experiment with ponies and give them robotic hands
oh gods
Centaur stack like Voltron
we need someone smarter here bro
Pathfinder Centaurs actually do have specific rules around using them as a mount and are actually considered Large-sized there
Iām stupider but Iām here I guess
Combined IQ of negative 3
Yeah it would be cruel but you theoretically could
same
Unless the pony wants hands lol
Hi! @glass granite !
There we go
Only if the DM allows it, cuz thatās reaching into topics that are sometimes banned at the table
Well who wouldn't? who's got opposable thumbs and completely appreciates them? This guy!
How you doin?
I need... chocolate.
horse with thumbs
It's like that adventure time episode
Oh my god
james baxter
"Finn, we have to kill the horse."
No, different horse... it was a deer that broke his legs
Hello chat
ah
Where are we going with this
Literally me when I got pissed off at this Kobold NPC
centaur stack probably
Jake the Dog has the best quotes, my favorite is
"Let's rule them like Gods! Angry Gods."
nothing like dming and being unable to think of how to continue a plot point for a week straight
I heard an interesting case the other day:
If you have casted water walk, and you jump into a lake from a high place, would it react like water or solid ground
i regret bringing this up
Water walk does say you can go under the water, but you have to use a bonus action to do so
If you cast water walk on a horse, can you ride it and stride the water really really quickly
i'm going with minecraft logic and saying it's like water
I haven't had a character of mine murder an innocent NPC
Yet.
Stares off at my Angry Centaur man
OK so like water walk is more of a conscious effort to keep yourself up
I guess it does require concentration
i was thinking of frost walker lol
If you land with your head, no, if you land with your feet, yes
i'm so smar
Because you don't use your head to walk
The smar shart
I can dig that
centaur palinco board
Based on the way Water Walk is worded in 3.5, I would say that if you fell from a height onto a watery surface while under the effects of the spell, you would fall into the water and then be returned to the surface per "the subjects are borne toward the surface at 60 feet per round until they can stand on it.".
Ooooo I really like that
oooo thas cool
Water Walk 3.5 says: "If the spell is cast underwater (or while the subjects are partially or wholly submerged in whatever liquid they are in), the subjects are borne toward the surface at 60 feet per round until they can stand on it." So in my mind, if you're falling back INTO the water, you'd get borne up like you would at the beginning of the spell.
I think I'd go with that ruling
my fingers just cracked so loud omg how am i not glowing
Aw yes... corrupting fifth edition with 3.5 š
Hey you had the text to back it up
I think it could be cool if it's like "oh this thing that usually helps me actually screwed me in this instance" but it also feels kind of cheap to be like yeah you land on it like solid ground roll me 6d10
does anyone know a good site to make continent maps in dnd?
Yes my dm has a great one I'll ask him what its called gimme a moment
Azgaar's is the map program you want!
That might be the same one im thinking of
It's ideal for world / continent maps, IMO. I love that you can set global wind patterns.
Yeah I think that's what he used bc he was hype that he could customize it so much
Also love that you can make a global map, then zoom in and make continent or island maps, then zoom in for a regional map with a hex grid.
i didnt know it was a generator...
is there a way to give it prompts or something?
That's dope
i had a specific shape in mind
Yes. You can even upload a height map if you already have one.
They have a Discord, too, with friendly people.
thanks ill check it out
THe user interface takes some getting used to.
How big of a reach would it be if I asked my dm if I could make a dragon my warlock patron.
pretty reasonable tbh.
Fr? Dang. Thought it'd be more difficult probably.
Probably have it be an ancient dragon because warlock patrons tend to be quite powerfull
Shii man ancient dragon, shadow dragon, solar dragon, dragolich, idc what kinda dragon it is having a dragon as a warlock patron is awesome.
my friend says she wants learn dnd and get into dming and asked me about pre-written adventures and what would be best to learn. i suggested something from the starter sets would be more suitable for that but im personally wondering, because when i started i had used the Lost Mines of Phandelver, but if you were to compare Phandelver and Heroes of the Borderlands, which one would you say be better for a starting group to understand the game easier?
Do you have a warlock subclass in mind for which you have a dragon patron or do you want to homebrew a dragon patron subclass?
Hexblade most likely, maybe fiend or efritti genie.
Then yeh i dont see why a dm would deny a dragon patron, other then some possible story stuff involving dragons.
Like you said, its cool as hell
Speaking of dragons. What's yalls top 3 in media.
Gotta be named or at least make an appearance.
So no potential lizard dragons.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/claim/source/dnd-international-day-of-play-2025
free one shot that leads into the borderlands starter set. Is great for new DMs
Probably not a dnd discussion unless all your top 3 dragons are dnd related
Yeah that's fair.
So, what would be needed for a Paladin to, let's just say, hit the moon with a javelin?
Idk a nat 20 and some good luck?
guys i want to make a warlock high elf who wants to learn the deep lore of whatever universe they're in. what should their name be?
Kranak
Break some rules, thrown weapons have a range and i dont think theres a lot increasing that range
Jethezier.
John Elf
Greg
At this point, the party is dedicated to working together to make this happen
One of my ideas to get a bit more height is to have my character enlarged and have him fly really far up with the Paladin on his back
#ddb-support I'd recommend asking here
TBF there are no rules that specifically say Faerun has no air in space so this seems like it should work. š¤ Just gotta cast fly a few thousand times to cover the distance.
Holy wall
Doesnāt sound like a good wall of it has holes in it
Did we get any news on 2026 book announcements yet
Nope
sadly no
ty š
I'm an aarakocra
i've just played a fairy for a one shot, DAM FLYING IS SO STUPID
" i fly upwards 30 feet " i literally took 0 dmg during the entire thing
nobody had a gun?
I love flying 30ft up as a DM and letting players figure out how they wanna hurt my characters
Flying Rogue is really fun, deal a ton of damage, get out before you take any, and if you do, reduce it with uncanny dodge
"guns" seem a bit rarer and a stretch. Bows, crossbows, spear and throwing axes are much easier to come by and could do the trick against a flyer.
There is a reason I've started outfitting a good majority of my HB foes with at least some kind of ranged weaponry
Even if it's just a javelin
Had a Ranger that tried to knock me out of the sky once. I kept succeeding all the Dex saves for entangling shot and whatnot
its funny
i was playing a cleric with light armor, i was cosplaying mercy from ow half the session
I'm just playing the Hero from Slay the Princess
We love ranged characters
Regardless if the DM's pieces can fly it doesn't matter xd
Generally DMs are meant to improvise shooting you in that case. I haven't seen for myself but I hear in 2024 more monsters have ranged attacks to mitigate this.
Gatekeep them from picking their javelins back
I also love when a PC flies up super high and either A) gets attacked (by flying, ranged, etc enemies) and knocked out and splatted on the ground and B) then has to fly back down (wasting their movement and sometimes turn) because the enemies are beneath cover or something else breaking their LoS
man the more i learn about the forgotten realms, the more i learnt of how much elder scrolls literally just took inspiration from them (putting it nicely)
It does?
like even up to skyrim with dragonrend
yeah thats just dragonrage
beeing the flying healer is so broken, i was never in danger and i just kept on healing
That's why 2024 added way more random ranged attacks to monster stat blocks
To be fair I think if you completely negate the usefulness of flying it's too far in the other direction, but it shouldn't be a win button either.
Make sure you have your resting AC to 19 to make it more difficult for your DM to deal with you
the fact you can avoid basically all terrain is already broken
i could just sanctuary / shield of faith + light armor and just chill in the air
Get the guys in R&D together, we're forming the Tall Terrain Division.
tbf to 2014 stuff, around half (I think technically just over) of the published enemies also were capable of hitting flying characters
Either via their own flight, ranged attacks, spells, or other abilities
I think the main anecdote was that for whatever reason the terrasque had no ranged attacks.
Checked it was inspired by a dnd campaign
How fast can you fly? You could combo this with spirit guardians
fun fact, i was just using spells to attack, then dm went ahead and gave me a shortbow+1 . i think you can figure out the rest
In one of my games, an NPC levitated out of melee to rain down spells. But then ranged attacks took her down to 0, and when she landed, immediately took a failed death save. And since then, I donāt think my party has any interest in flying during combat lol.
30 feet base movement
you know that breaks sanctuary right?
both spells and the bow
Good thing it wasn't a PC
Cantrips are also better than a +1 weapon after lv5 unless you have Hextra Attack
then i used my healers kit :)
thats definitely expending a lot of spell slots, but sure
- the healer feat for even mor disgusting heling
Yes, but re-casting sanctuary after doing that every turn is
i didnt ofc
So I'm browsing through the pets section in the extras page on my character sheet, and apparently commoner is an option. I have no idea what to say about that.
the pets tab is entirely a ddb fabrication
i used sanctuary to abuse the healers kit
it just lets you add any statblock for tracking purposes
since its a "utilize action" which doesnt break sanctuary :D
I mean yes, but its also not very helpful unless your team is down
which I guess admittedly, is more likely to happen if you are doing what you are doing because they are taking even more damage because of you
yeah, but also, life domain cleric >w>
It's still rather odd.
it was just me sitting there constantly reviving everyone and taking no damage
can you play online?
So to recap
i love dnd and am on my first playthrough but we barely ever meet upš„
like once a month if that
i only play online so yeah absolutely
I am down one silver hairbrush from a barter to get another chest to loot
Person that searched got a nat 20, would have apparently been a bag of holding, but decided to roll some more dice instead and make it a potion that resists thunder damage
Which they drank instantly before I could react and store it away
oh how
Tried to cook down some animals that i hunted, but got a nat 1 on survival to burn them all to a crisp
Then a nat 1 on an attack. Then a reaction to make me eat 17 slashing damage. Barely won a fight, tried to carry the body with us for questioning. Got a nat 1 on Athletics, tripped and fell. Took more damage from guards before barely escaping without being reduced to 0 HP
But hey. I can short rest now and heal up. Spend 3 d10s and a +2 com modifer to only get 15 HP (average was 21)
Paladin heals after me with 5d10+10 to get 44 HP
I really really hate how I have to put Alert or Poisoner on hold purely because at this rate, Lucky might as well be mandatory for me
Have you also considered playing a Halfling next time
Halflings are not my thing
Besides, that just means that I now get 2s instead of 1s
I wish it had functionality
I hate short ppl so thatās why I donāt play them
I've got a Wizard qith a Familiar and the Extras tab being unable to make rolls for them stinks
Workaround is to make up a new "weapon" on your character sheet.
Halflings let you reroll nat ones, not bump it up to 2
My last Waterdeep party had a prejudice against the short races
And what do you think I would get after nat 1s?
At least for d20 tests
Or becoming a halfling?
For d20 tests Iād say 10-11
Iād love to play the most basic dnd character and see how it is. John Baldurgate
No, I would start getting 2s
Never gonna get anywhere with that mindset smh
Not just another nat 1, but to get 2s and have it not even matter at the end of the day
Youāre manifesting it
Buddy, do you see what trying to have a positive mindset is getting me?
ah itās a matter of pessimism, gotcha
You gotta believe in Nat20s
Be confident and the universe will follow. Or laugh at you, but then at least someoneās laughing
No, I am just observing the problems. What makes you think I want this to happen?
Yes, it is a game and I'm not that upset at it, but give me a big fat break...
Probably you saying that rerolling nat ones will somehow get you a Nat 2
True, fake it till you make it
Like look at sleep
Or play as a dm, I got 3 nat20ās in a combat once it was fun
Because I know how Lady Luck is. It isn't just average unluckiness, it's gotta be the biggest middle finger she can make
Looking for a short campaign tonight
No one can predict Lady Luck. Itās kinda in her nature
Well, I can. And it often just is "how much can she screw me over for doing the most logical and benevolent tasks?"
Tried that, i rolled so bad a dragon and the necromancer rider rolled so bad on their saves they spend three turns running away from the party
Blast breath buddy
Do you see how that makes it difficult to get anywhere?
Rolled under 4
Damn L
Heellloooo
It's just ironic. I'm taking the Lucky feat to go from nigh detrimental rolls to possible average
Let them have the win, in the previous chapter i threw an invisible adult green dragon
I would prefer to get Lucky later on. But with how things are going right now, I hate that I would need to get it so soon
You donāt need to, Bloodline.
And get more nat 1s with no escape... I'd rather not
It's the borderline necessary need, not the mandatory need
Beckoning fate smh š
I'm not superstitious, but now that you're talking about having bad luck, it might get even worse just to prove you right.
FR tho, this is what happens when you play a dice game. Sometimes the dice don't like you for periods of time.
Another victim of the Wil Wheaton curse
This is the part where I would grab Enhance Ability and ask someone to give me Guidance
Fabloo
Yeah, I get that. Just annoys me because all of the good rolls were on things that didn't matter as much
Triple ones on the dice! Nice! /jk
One that I missed, by the way. Managed to cast Ensnaring Strike on the person we were fighting. Annoyingly, not only did he get a nat 1 on the Str save (crit fails double damage die, but 2Ć0=0)
It do be like that at times.
But he also proceeded to just break out before anyone was able to benefit from the restraint (3 for 3 on this happening for this campaign btw)
I am looking to purchase a phantom wallet with a history of frequent transactions. I am willing to pay 3-4 SOL for a wallet that has been active for at least three months, even if it is empty. If the wallet has a longer history, I am open to negotiating a higher price. Serious offers only.
Sus
Like, cooking animals toy hunted earlier? Nat 1, burnt to a crisp
Insight on what type of animal popped up in our camp? Nat 1, could be Strahd's lost evil hellhound for all you know
Noone else have proficiency to give advantage via Help? Or guidance?
For saying you're not very upset, you seem very upset
You should have Enhance Ability as Ranger too
Wouldn't really want to use it. Didn't seem to be too important ATM + this was just after a long rest
Huh? Those are free actions
Indeed
Isn't guidance a spell?
Cantrip
Ah. Either way, no luck. No one prepared it
Its so bad for some tables that they'd straight up set penalties for casting Guidance in front of a NPC's face when buffing your social skills
Not even the cleric?
The Cleric not getting Guidance is a sin ngl
Cleric didn't show up. Again.
Ah yeah the Cleric that was basically booted off the game
Man why are mostly #looking-for-player American
One of yall should grab magic initiate cleric
Still around on the server, but might as well be booted
Guidance, utility, + smt like guiding bolt or bless
So no luck on those checks. But an Animal Handling check to have the druid pet the hellhound? Sure game, 26 it is
How about Help?
Help requires proficiency, if memory serves
Indeed
No proficiency, no help
Itās where D&D is most popular. Try seeing if you can meet the equivalent time for games held in the Americas.
Nah I'm in southeast Asia, most of the time they are either dead in the night or too bright in the morning for me
Hard not to be when the luck is sopped up on the (near) pointless rolls like the meme of the 2 guys drinking from a pipe
Can't help without a proficiency
Honestly, that's nothing in terms of bad luck. I've had moments that blow that out of the water by magnitudes.
But yeah. It's a dice game, but I feel like the world is just out to get me all the time
Games in those timezones still get posted occasionally. Otherwise you can try looking in SEA region D&D/TTRPG communities (e.g. Reddit LFGs, Discod servers
This is just one of the many instances in this game I'm playing called life
Heh dice, the dice decide if our characters die or not
This, statistically speaking, is much smaller than others, but it's the fact that it keeps happening over and over again
It's a 1/20 chance, it's pretty common.
Personally for me my dice have been really questionable and really perfect and awesome, like when I do something stupid it gives a bad roll, and when I do a good thing it gives me a good roll
Me when I rolled three nat 1s in a roll as a Soulknife to pick a lock on a chest once that turned out to be mostly garbage anyways
Then another 1 in 20 after that
Then another from someone else
Then 2 more 1 in 20s for yourself in a way that sucks for you
We had a situation where the group rolled three Nat 1's in a row and we had to fight 40 enemies that ended up taking about 30 turns to kill, which was approximately 4 hours of real time.
Hello! I'm also in Southeast Asia!
I lived in Southeast Asia but moved down to the Land Down Under!
YOOOO ASEAN
But yeah my reguular game is 3am Monday š
Same here pal
I play in person, so scheduling is better in terms of timezones
Perks of being a DM, you get a group much faster
Yeah Americans š NOT THE PEOPLE OR THHE CULTURE OR ANYTHING DON'T CANCEL ME š
You looking for players
?
I'll be going back to aus next month
Unless you can make it to where I live and somehow get my 7 players to accept you, no
I moved here from the US, though, so. That's why my game is at such a bad time, it used to be 3pm Sunday.
Hello, I am preparing a session for my players. The tl;dr is that there is a dungeon that the BBEG needs to explore and the players are camped up in it, basically a reverse of how it usually is XD
If a Necromancer has a lot of prep time, and needs to assault a dungeon rather than protect it, what sorts of things do you think he would bring with him?

I'm just saying that complaining about dice luck beyond a "dang, this sucks" is something that does nothing but work you up. Accomplishes nothing and legitimately makes you feel worse about something you have no control over.
500 MINI SKELTONS
Actually...very good strategy
wish i could find a game for tonight sadly no luck
That's 500 bodies that can snuff out/face tank traps, and 500 beings in action economy to absolutely SHRED anything
Boneclaws.
Those things are MENACES
They're melee enemies with the ability to teleport and drag along anyone they have grappled
They're also sentient and intelligent undead
How long have you been looking? Finding a game same day is hard to do
Boneclaws or demons spawn
Boneclaws.
Any truly Evil Necromancer would have a Boneclaw servant
They actively seek out the most evil presence in the area to serve
They're also people who tried to become liches but failed
I've got a bone to pick with those
Is that skeleton Minecraft musical song reference
"I've got a bone to pick with you"
Though ig it might just be a skull issue on my part
and no I just like dad jokes
š issue
Hehehehehe I feel like a giant orge laughing at this
Hell, if you're a Big Bad Evil Necromancer trying to storm an area, bust out the big guns, Boneclaws, Death Knights, Skeleton Lords
okay there bud we get it
I'll rage quit if I see 3 skeletons lord
One does not get the title as Lord of Goofy for having restraint
I'm just telling them the types of undead that'd be best for a Seige smh
Oooog, bring Phylaskia, they're Skeleton Knights that have a Strength draining touch and an Aura that gives disadvantage on saving throws and halves speed
Facts
Hallo, friend
It's not called being unhinged, I'm simply offering options to slaughter ones party
If you make a Necromancer come to YOU, you should definitely have hell to pay!
There's also Zombie Dinosaur statblocks that exist :>
Zombie beholder is a classic too
Zombie orge
Zombie Tokii
hello
Goooood morning afternoon evening, wahzzup!
Roll20, reddit, dnd beyond forums, or via this server (look at #find-a-game )
Or in person via local games stores or libraries
aight thanks
Storm Giant Skeleton could also be fun
how do i join a online campaign
Screw it, have your Necromancer BBEG storm them with a Dracolich!
Hell, just have them summon Orcus!
He can summon Infinite Liches!
What's the best way to find a group of players or game that is PBP (text base) like in a discord group? Looking-For-Community seems to be a dead end for me unless I should make a post specifically? Maybe I just overlooked something
Okay, I'm done now, I promise lmao
Alas, I can't become an Undead
The only 2 things to mention is that it's more akin to it happening over and over again to make each "dang, this sucks" louder than the previous one (especially because you haven't exactly seem the figurative karma balance tip back in your favor
Absolutely random question; would eating a lycanthrope be cannibalism?
The other bit is that I am fully aware of feeling worse about something you have no control over. Just sucks when your escapism also decides to join in
Itās a cursed humanoid, yes
How long of a pattern was this? A single session?
I ask because I think it might be worthwhile to develop cognitive patterns that don't end up enabling reverse survivorship bias.
Hello folks
Hello
Yo
Wahzzup
Why canāt I find chicken nuggets in dnd
Just make them yourself
Too bad my pc doesnāt know what chicken nuggets are
i am a fighter 5 / monk 5 on a campaign i am in. Am i legally allowed to use a blunderbuss as a Kensei weapon? Like, even for giggles?
Hello, Gun Monk here! 100% works. You'll want to check with your DM to make sure it works with the setting but yeah it fully works
im trying to think how a monk would use guns tho, isnt easy
Hold and fire, aim down sights to increase accuracy
Picks it up
Points it
Pulls the trigger
If they can master the art of punching 5 times in a turn, they can master this
oh.... i expected something else more flashy or whatever
For this campaign? 6 sessions
For the game of life? Long enough to know Lady Luck hates me
Doesnāt have to be flashy to get the job done, maybe they learned to wield guns in order to protect their temple, or hunt for threats
Put on a barrel mod to decrease muzzle flash!
Perhaps games of chance aren't for you
no but i mean, when i heard a class with guns
I kinda imagine it like Killing floor 2 that a whole line of guns is for a class
Aka,
Fighter would use 2 pistols, fast, lethal and powerful
Ranger would be the sniper of the team
Paladin would be the one using heavy guns, machine guns for example
Artificer we can all agree, explosives
etc. etc.
Maybe give figther any gun and give the pistols to rouge
I see Rogues as more of a sniper rifle type
Maybe sniper rifle + silenced pistol?
silenced pistol and knife for backstab, like the spy from TF2
Silenced Pistol unlock for Spy when
Would Mounted Combatant work if you were a Small race riding a Medium friend?
Because I have an idea for an NPC duo
I found some interesting old D&D illustrations and wanted to send them and talk about them. Which chat should I use?
Just make npc number 2 a centaur, problem solved
Up to your DM whether or not that works, so ask them.
Halfling: "And this is my trusty steed, Bob! Say hello, Bob!"
Human: long sigh "Hi, Bob ..."
Halfling: "Haaaaa! Cracks me up every time."
Human: adjusts the straps on the backpack/saddle
Afaik the only image channels are for art you made in some way, but if you're discussing official dnd art you can probably show it in #merch-and-dice and then link the message here to discuss what you're showing off.
this might be a really dumb question but approximately how long would a session of dnd usually be
2-4 hours but ive seen 1 hours and 8 hours t
a few hours, mine last 4, i know some take a bit more or less
If you're making an npc their setup can really be some of anything. Put it as a trait of theirs that they get advantage while riding their pal.
There is a lot of variation, but 2-5 hours likely encompasses most groups.
something between 2 to 5, depend of how you make each section of that session
If it is retaking a long mission, if its being just exploring an area, etc. etc.
I think my average is 3 hours pushing 4
Thanks guys Iām just trying to see if I got time to like actually play dnd before I attempt to get into anything I think I should
There are also people that play during their lunch break at school, so their sessions would be <60 minutes.
I did that, actually, and I will say:
it sucks compared to sessions
At least for me
last time I played it would always start 10 and end like 3am-5am usually which was terrible for my sleep and school
I had a session start at 8pm and end at 3am
Never again
almost same, i have sessions that start 7 am and end around 11am//12
sometimes 8 am and end up 1pm
could a college of glamour bard theoretically be a heavy metal rock star?
fair
imagine a noise marine from warhammer in dnd
If you want, welp, can flavor a weapon like an instrument too like Marceline from adventure time had an Axe bass
The last Death stranding had a boss that use an electric guitar like and axe too, so, go wild
Isn't there only one death stranding
Encourage your players to just talk, usually that kills lots of time
3 now,
the 1
Autor version
2
Like weāll banter in character for an hour without noticing
Tips for new dm
Always plan in the failure of your party, be ready for the dice being all the time 1 or not enough.
Inactivate them to roleplay and teamwork
Finally, its a constant learning, testing and improvement, can ask them after every session to leave an honest opinion about the session.
Not holding back, might be harsh but its one of the ways to improve
hmmm
Confidence is key, always be learning and adapting, go with the flow, be ready for your party to fail but want them to win
You should want your party to win even if when you play itās not like that
how long should a fight often take
Hmmm, glomp
Depends on the fight but they can be long. Iād say just make sure all the players arenāt just wasting time or doing nothing
Hi All!!! I'm about to play CoS for the first time (with 2024 rules). I really love the idea of playing a Gloomstalker x Assassin. Do you have any suggestions for a level 10 build? Do you think this will work well? Or should I try and add something with radient damage instead?
Iād just go with the build you want cheesy I know but if you like it I think any build can be good.
Radiant is nice but I donāt think itās 100% needed yk?
Iām in a campaign for CoS we have 4 long range fighters lol and we mange just fine
The real part of being a good char is playing smart with the hand youāve been dealt
Depend of what you want to put them
A short fight wont should take more than 6 rounds
A long fight 7 to 15
More than that is too much for me
Radiant is only great against zombies, but otherwise you'll do fine in it
I'd say just play what you like to play, but it's up to you
The strongest magic in dnd is the power of friendship shit can lead to crazy dmg
You mean twin casting haste on a fighter and paladin?
Sure
Yeah, teamwork is always important. I just want to build something super cool and effective š I have a tendancy to pick things that are great, just not for that campaign
I'm joking, I've done that before and it was glorious
.... A fighter can have 2 hastes on him!?
No sadly
Oh...
2 separate characters
I think assassin and gloom has solid synergy. Iām going fighter BM ranger gloom and if we get to lvl11 Iād add in rogue assassin
no, I just meant that you can have haste on two folks at once if you twin cast it in 2014 rules
Otherwise Iād go 6/4 fighter gloom
Oh yea?
if the character that is in conc break it, it would be a giga bad thign
I was thinking, 5 ranger, three assasin, two fighter for second wind and action surge, so round one I can do a stupid amount of attacks
yes, which is why I then flew about 100 feet into the air and left the fight xD
mmmm.... too risky tho
eh, they had no ranged characters and I had free flight and warcasters
Sounds good to me
I'm in a CoS with a gloomstalker, the new one is kind of fun
Only thing is, then I miss out on a ft as we're only going to level 10 - would it be better to do five x five?
I did warn him to avoid me when he's trying to go invisible though
what if i have 2 daggers?
I'm bad to ask, I usually don't multiclass too much since I like getting all the features a class has to offer
do i write the profile down twice?
do you mean like having both on your sheet?
yeah
I would say if you want to split just rogue/ranger, do 6 ranger/4 rogue, that way you get the extra movement and an extra feat (sharpshooter is fine, though I'd prob recommend mage slayer for CoS)
Are you doing your character sheet online or in person
in person
Thank you, that's super helpful
I was being indecisive so appreciate it
honestly, Idk what your stat spread looks like, but try to get to 18 dex minimum at level 8, if not 20
what would u say is the most complex dnd game (system and depth wise)
I'd say just indicate that you have two daggers in the section of items, and make sure your dm knows you're intending to dual wield
like other ttrpgs? or just the most complex module of dnd
ok
dnd it self
so i write 2 daggers and just use the weapon profile twice when i attack?
uh, never really dm'ed, so I'd probably say like one of the ones that has unique mechanics are complicated mobs
there's a weird system where offhand attacks are different than main hand
"a complex dnd system woudl probably be one with complex mechanics" lmao
has any dnd campaign ever developed an economic system
or as a backup for if i throw
Just looking through the thread. Monks can use guns or any weapon besides those requested by their traits. They just don't get proficiency with them.
Please can someone help me
with whats
like Curse of Strahd can be complex, but mostly because there's a ton of different things you have to track for players, and they'll face grueling days
isnt that the fun part
I wanna play smthn but nothing works
that's fine yeah, you can always just plan to wield one dagger then have some more in your bag to chuck at folks
elaborate
Find a game doesn't work
and i can always buy or steal another
My friends r basically dead when it comes to social life
I do like a bit of action, but CoS def tests your mental fortitude when you go through multiple fights a day and then miss your long rest
You can always just pick the ones you threw back up
as in the channel isnt working ?
Yeah
lemme check it one sec
It even kicks me out in five seconds
Thats what I tried to do in the five seconds it gave me
and?
Omg thank u
amazing have a great day
If a feature says the next spell automatically triggers a surge then you do not roll the d20 and you donāt get a second surge
Whoever sent that question and deleted it when i wrote my answer
hi, can i ask something as noob? @w@
Why are dnd packs priced worse than most sims 4 dlc
I've never used warlock before but... after playing bg3... it feels i don't know... a little bit basic and one note? I feel like it just wants to spam eldritch blast (and hex inbetween). How do you properly play warlock? I literally don't know much about how it works so I'd like to hear how they get a lot of their value from
that and why are they full casters when they get like... 1 spell only at the start and like 2 for a lot of their early game?
Okey, fast explaining
Warlock is the cheater of Casters
While other casters must use spell slots and can upcast stuff the warlock upcast (use the strongest version of the spell) for free
So why nut go warlock over wizard
And if we have to add that warlock can get:
A weapon that scale with his charisma
The patron that can give him some spells too and even a lot of features
but that's only 1-3 usages of said upcasted spell. what if i want to make people fly or cast haste? that and im sure counterspelling someone would eat those precious charges
Flexibility and power
each caster is in his own way something
Warlock is fire power
Wizard is variety in spells
Sorc adapt the spells to his needs
Druid can shapeshift most of time and use nature powers
Arti is an engineer
so is princess bubblegum an artificer
im guessing then that i should drop counterspell on warlock? :v
Nope, she is a whole scientist. Different layer
actually no
She is sci fi
An arti is fantasy
evergeen is artificer
cuz a sorc can cast like 6 different spells if not more compared to a warlock's 3. unless i'm underestimating the value of those 3 spell slots? @w@
also i know they're recoverable by short rest but you kinda can't short rest mid battle... ^^:
yes, the warlock is casting those 3 spells in their highest power and something important to remark, warlock get them back between short rests
While other casts get most spells slots between LONG rests
so they're meant to be bursty
true, but still, considerate you have eldritch blast, cantrips, etc. You will have to use your spells with precision and in their moment
btw i'm sorry, i'm just really trying to understand warlock, but i feel my value using them isn't as high as i can make it due to my noobiness @w@
sorry for what? dont be harsh with yourself, im not angry for explaining like i was explained before
Think that while at lvl 11 you get 3 spells slots, you can cast them at lvl 5
don't sorcs also get that many but also have like 11 lower level spells as backup?
Personally I've always felt that Warlock plays like a magic Fighter. You do best when your group takes plentiful Short Rests
that or I probably just need to get used to how little spells they have... @w@
or i should stop treating them as a full caster
they feel REALLY weird to the other casters, cuz everyone of them has so many spells
so, lets say a witch bolt that is lvl 1, 1d12lighting at first +1d12 damage per turn
If you upcast it to lvl 5 your witch bolt would be dealing at first 5d12 at first, in best scenario, 60 damage + 1d12 per turn.
You aren't really a primary caster, like you just don't have the slots to even try that. You mostly do potent burst attacks and long lasting spells
ok, i think i know how to approach warlock now
Warlocks are burst chars. Spam that short rest
i should stop treating them as primary casters and more like idk... a 3.0 paladin :v
yep, that is why at first i told you, they are the Cheaters from caster classes
cuz paladins in the extremely old days get their lvl2 spells at lvl 10... XD
And Ritual spells. You can do Ritual spells as a warlock
make Ritual spells your [expletive] as a Warlock
i thought i needed pact of the tome for rituals? and an invoc. correct me if i'm wrong, im just going off the top of my head on what i think i rememebr from bg3 @w@
Oh i'm thinking 2024 where anyone can Ritual
while i was trying to figure wyll out
so technically it might not be a really good idea to be my group's only arcane caster if we don't have one yet?
You are still a caster, that is something to think. Better than having none it is.
Each caster is good in their own way
I believe you need Pact of the Tome or the Ritual Caster feat to do Rituals in 2014 Warlock
wait, so we CAN on 2024 warlock? @w@
24 warlocks can ritualcast on base without the need for pacts and invocs?
ye cuz Rituals got opened up to all spellcasters
is that also true for half casters? paladins, rangers, artificers? ^^;
oh true, i have a curiosity, Ceremony was removed in 2024?
ye
you just need to be able to cast spells
oh blessed be! i was about to say it feels like that's such a steep price to pay if a warlock wants to just cast ritual spells
so like even Eldritch Knights and Arcane Tricksters can Ritual cast
but i guess that sucks on 2014 games... cuz iirc bg3 is using 2014 rules?
as well as solasta 1?
wasn't reprinted, but its not removed
like its a Xanathar's spell so u can grab in both 2014 and 2024
oh, so still exist? okey okey, it concerned me that i couldnt find it in any spell list in 2024
iirc identify is a ritual, right? is it? @w@
so that means at least i can be an identifier if i'm a warlock all without spending my precious 2 spells lol
yknow, it just occured to me I don't know how DDB handles that. Like Ashardalon's Stride from Fizban's wasn't reprinted, so how does DDB know that my 2024 Wizard can grab it despite not being on the 2024 Wizard list
should be there for clerics and paladins
at least in 2024 rules.
so ideally the spells i pick up are ones that scales on upcast, like fireball? and i should avoid spells i ideally should spam like shield or counterspell?
yeah u can Ritual identify
perfeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeect ā¤ļø
I was able to Magic Initiate (Cleric) to grab Ceremony on a 2024 Fighter
nope, still checking the both lists and even the whole spells thing
let me check my self
Weird because its a good spell in general, kinda not cheap but good
I love the RP flair of having 2 characters be married by the Ceremony spell
i like the idea of a whole poly group only for the +2ac for 2 weeks//1 month
If the party is of 4 i think you could get the buff up for like 12 months or 16
pretty srue it only lasts for 24 hours
"You touch adult humanoids willing to be bonded together in marriage. For the next 24 hours, each target gains a +2 bonus to AC and saving throws while they are within 30 feet of each other. A creature can benefit from this ceremony just once."
The divorce strat
wait what, this isn't the spell text?
Alright. I have a question for you folks.
Tyrant Shadow and its ability to see creatures with Telepathy. Would a Ring of Mind Shielding block its ability to see the person wearing the ring?
can only do it once
Ceremony:
"Wedding. You touch adult humanoids willing to be bonded together in marriage. For the next 7 days, each target gains a +2 bonus to AC while they are within 30 feet of each other. A creature can benefit from this rite again only if widowed."
Wedding. You touch adult humanoids willing to be bonded together in marriage. For the next 7 days, each target gains a +2 bonus to AC while they are within 30 feet of each other. A creature can benefit from this rite again only if widowed.
uh what
two schools of quoting on discord
meh, 1 week, 2 or 1 month, doesnt matter, congrats to the couple!!
Easy, kill them then revivify them, you technically get widowed
oh why is it diffrent on the wiki
wasn't there an exploit with ceremony and zealot barbarians? one that involved intentionally killing the zealot barb? XD
yep, still a strat unless the DM add a counter to it
Zealot Barbs get resurrected for free so killing them is no sweat for a group
+2 AC isn't worth dying at this point; just die in battle and get resurrected
and +2ac is gamechanging lot of times
well, besides the whole process of murdering your tank in cold blood
I'd do it
ofc u would
Yeah.... it have too much hp, at that point add the option that if the target let himself or is too forced can be instantkilled
idk i personally dont enjoy exploits
I wouldn't actually, I just take the hits like a chad!!!!
same
if not an execution by axe would be seeing the axe bounce in the neck of teh barbarian
Me either, I was jesting lmao
10 minutes hitting him while he is in rage until he die
I've had players try some real nonsense. Simulacrum stacking, how I loathe you
25gp that between a party would be like 5 or 8 gp per for a +2ac
more if your party is getting ready for a long mission
too mixmaxer honestly
I like how people are like
"Rage isn't realistic" but then they don't realized the heightened states of emotion can numb certain feelings and hence why rage reduces damage
unrelated topic guys, but i've always wanted to build a heavy armor wizard who isn't afraid to dip into melee once in a while. is it at all viable to run something like fighter 2, abjurer x? or would something like that have complications? @w@
Heavy armor?
On my wizard?!
I'd rather die smh.
highkey I'd just be a Bladesinger and pray for Elven Chain (Chain Mail) at some point
If the class doesn't use armor I'm not multiclassing just for armor personally
People forget that a person with adrenaline can literally break his limits, obviously after getting the consequence of it.
IF a woman did before lifted a bit a car so his sons could get out before things got bad
Imagine a 2mts tall barbarian with muscles on the muscles
But, yes, that sounds like the easiest play!
yeah, just doesn't seem worth it when most classes have some kind of AC bonus anyways
like Barkskin and Mage Armor are a good AC offset for not having armor
yeah, there is Eldritch knight that is a fighter with spells
Some casters get Mage armor, can get feats that let you use heavy armors too
question, imagine the player casta a wall of force then uses a spell like create water to fill it up with water, can u just drown people this way?
Does cleave add prof modifier from GWM as well as rage damage for the barbarian according to dnd 2024 rules?
Yes, but depend of the DM. Strats like that arent something a dm would like to see or maybe yes for creativity. Can add electricity to the recipe so its more lethal too
Helloš
Hi there
It'd take a while.
An enemy can go a few minutes equal to their con mod so ..
even better
yeah but eldritch knight doesn't have as many spells... ^^;
just watch ur enemies slowly beg for their lives
and it's a lot more leaning to hitting things with a sharp metal stick
Notably, Wall of force doesn't Las an insanely long time
i wanna fry things with 100000000000000 volts
Genuinely what are you fighting at level 20 that could possibly be a challenge
So if I just bought one of the starter box things should I focus on the character sheet first?
archdevil that controls layers of the multiverse
Wizard cast wish and now he does
i fought a balor once with my good aligned cleric.
my cleric called it a bottom. :v
Also enjoy your 10000 temp hit points from the cleric
another party of a similar level but from a rival nation, both of you fighting for control
Tempest cleric my friend
he tried to incinerate me with delayed fireball blast and i just casually casted otiluke's resilient sphere on the fireball (cuz peace cleric)
i have never seen a more insulted balor in my life, and i can't believe i got away with taunting one like that XD
My War Cleric was a beastly tank, he only got downed twice in his short career
i wish you could somehow implement real time battles to dnd
wasn't that bg1-2 and iwd 1-2
and the neverwinter nights games?
though.... those are like.... 2e, 3e and 3.5e... XD
ye but like actually on the table
high number of enemies, entities so powerfull
I think that a 4 members party lvl 20 can literally be war changing
1 figther
1 cleric
1 wizard
1 ranger
Can literally turn upside down a whole war at lvl 20
At that point, any wizard spell can whipe hordes of enemies
The ranger can kill anything at any distance with precision
The fighter stand his ground against any number of enemies taht try to get closer to the party
the cleric maintain them alive and protect from other spells
Avatar of a god, archdevils
How do I find a DM for a group, our dm bailed last minute on session 0. Didn't even start yet bru
Prob just need to find new group ngl. That is kinda funny ngl
Like did he block all of you lmfao š
It depends on the DM. If it is a good DM even CR 17 monsters can be a challenge, without homebrewing.
He gave an unreasonable time then just never responded š
Can you still respond to him and shit lol? Like has anyone dmd hin
But it was a really cool system so we really wanted to play it
Yes, he just ghosted everyone
deities and demigods
I need a group of players for my campaign but it ain't 5e š¬
Quicker and easier to learn though
Is there any good online dnd , or dnd -like games like on mobile or website or anything
Apart from like baldurs gate ig
Honestly the closest I've come to a ttrpg experience with friends in a videogame is lethal company
Cool not exactly what I was thinking but Iāll take it into consideration
Iām new to dnd and getting my friends into it has been a bit tough since I have to DM and Iām not expirienced myself so sometimes itās a bit slow and my friends get bored so Iāve been trying to find an online alternative if some kind
Oh, is it paid?
I think Baldur's Gate 1, 2, and 3 have what you want (BG1 and 2 are in AD&D2e, BG3 is a 5e game).
There was some old Icewind Dale games. Planescape: Torment is widely considered one of the greatest RPGs of all time.
If you wanna? But nah I'm not charging
I'm brokeš if someone took my account, they'd be taking my debt
That's fine! I don't believe in charging for games
Hi broke, Iām Nugget
Nice to meet you, nugget
i had a question about 2024 wizards it says on google that at lvl 3 they get 2 additional spells from subclass so getting +4 spells that lvl is that true or is that something specific subclasses have?
Then can I join?
When you get the subclass, itāll give you specific spells
Yeah! How many of y'all are there
so like expended spell list?
I've been thinking... Slow fall, you take the reaction "when you fall" to reduce damage from the fall. But what if you're high enough that your fall takes multiple rounds? Does it have to be the reaction of the last round of your fall, or can you use your reaction on the first turn of your fall and then just have fun and do anything else with your reaction for the six turns that will follow?
They give you spells that donāt count to your total prepared spell list, so yes
I imagine itās at any stage during the fall
Which will last till you stop falling
Now to incorporate this into my tactics...
Granted, idk if thatās how Iād rule it
But none of my players are monks sooo
Donāt gotta worry about it
hello!
Nope, no way. I mean... Unless I could get myself, the entire party, and every foe to fall from a cloud giant's cloud, leading to the entire fight taking place while falling.
Yes. For levelling up as a wizard, you get 2 spells from the Wizard list.
For getting your subclass (and some other levels thereafter), you get to add 2 [Relevant School] Wizard spells to your repertoire.
I'm currently playing an Evoker, at level 3 I grabbed Invisibility and Misty Step for being a level 3 Wizard. Per my Evocation Savant feature, I also grabbed Melf's Acid Arrow and Scorching Ray.
oh so how does that work for bladesinging do i get like 2 evocation spells? cuz i was looking around but found nothing much about it really except that they just get 2 extra
3 rn
Bladesingers don't get a feature letting them do that
Instead, they get Bladesong and Training in War and Song
so you'd just get the 2 spells for levelling up as a wizard
Abjurer, Evoker, Diviner, and Illusionist are the only ones that have that kind of feature
it replaced their "copy [School] spells cheaper" feature
Found an idea: Lure the enemies to the world's highest bridge! In real life, the world's highest bridge is the Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge, 2000 feet above the river. Break the bridge during combat, you have four rounds until everyone hits the ground. Four rounds of free falling combat, which is cool
Solasta, but its single player like bg3
Haii
haiiiiiii
