The threshold of kills needed for Augment Action only makes sense if you've got the Reliant. As a level 50 F2P without the Reliant I have to kill at least level 44 augment ships. I send my 3 strongest ships and score 4 kills. At that rate I only have to make 28 or 29 more trips......while avoiding the stupid over powered chasers in that region. Augment action sms is not labeled heroic yet at best for a decent player it's well over a hundred hostiles. With at least a few minutes to get out to the area and all that, it is a huge grind event for not much. Is the point to make everyone just hate augment. Why not allow us to hit 20 or 40 and call it good. This event will take hours for a "regular" player. Or like 600 if I use my reliant because I have to hit 10+ levels lower. Who thinks that is fun? G5 players never gonna get to G7 with the same bad event milestones, that's why people are quitting in droves.

My reliant can kill them at lvl 44. Above that it's too weak. My rotty can kill several at lvl 56. For the reliant it would be 2074 hostiles... For the rotty, it's 114 at 7 kills per hull...16 trips minimum at let's say 9 minutes round trip and 2 minutes to get out there so at least 144 minutes... Add in ships getting blown up and all that... For one event.

These milestones are pretty ridiculous considering the timelines for reliant parts has most people at maybe around T2-T3 at best. Even if you go and invest with a warp boost to reach the "easiest" 740K hostiles, there's not a crew that's going to make hitting the points needed really feasable.

Events like this used to present at least marginally reasonable scoring with the level 40 hostiles.

So 8 x 300 = 2400 points. so with a T1 crew, you need to kill 300 hostiles to complete this mission for the meta. If you have them all at T3, its 150 kills. This is DUMB. If you have all 3 officers at T2 or T4, you are S.O.L. for any bonus. Just bad planning. W.T.G.S.

I actually expect carmadas to work since they use FKR directives as well. Eclipse aren't regular, they use a different directive. These events usually have a shorthand scoring notation in the scoring card for "starting armadas." But they're often technically coded by the amount of directives they consume so some alternative targets would work.

It is a simple statement of fact. The designers make an event for a specific segment of players. The developers put it into the game. And the communication puts out an event schedule.

In this case, the designers meant it for ops 45+. The developers put it in exactly as desired. And the communication went out with a 20+ statement. The communication has since been corrected.

It's not a statement of agreeance of the decision, suggesting that 20+ can't do it, or that advocates haven't already pushed for a level range expansion. That's been done, and the event's staying as is. They have reasons for doing it the way they did, and feedback is open.

So here is my feedback: I dont like having spend event. I like when we have SLB/SMS almost every weekend /Not RSLB/ in usual ops brackets. Also between arcs. OK now i can move ops up, there is specific event for it with same reward for +1 ops. Reward is fair to compare spent math. Just this event didn't count upgrading ships and that's problem what i have with no lets say classic spend SMS/SLB event.

I have to take issue with the level range expansion part of your answer. This is particularly annoying because up until the previous arc spend event SMSs and SLBs ran every weekend and were not limited to ops 45 and above. This is even more infuriating when we were told by the GM of Scopely himself that there would be more events to help us progress, only for them to stop running ones we already have and offer some of the best rewards in the game

Cosmic Choice is solely 45+ to drive people to push ops. Scopely wants you to ops up too fast to reach paywalls/frustrations to spend. Next month, I can almost guarantee these events will become 51+ for the same reason. It's the unfortunate design decision they've made instead of choosing to continue milking battlepasses and being okay monetizing slower progression ops folks. They want as much as they can get now and are okay with the gamble of losing players for short term monetary gains. There is no design intent besides that in the decision to leave out lower ops.

It's true that giving lower level players access to the event would reward them with much needed depot tokens, but also invites a certain type of play style that can be detrimental to growth: hoarding. If I were there again, and the heroic SMS was available to reward me with a 300k lump sum, I'd make sure that mat use was cadenced toward finishing those events.

Right now, it doesn't seem like those players have any hoard strategy events, and that unchains them, gives them freedom to use mats to progress as they want. That could be a good thing... if they continue to get the things they need to play the game successfully as part of the larger plan. So analysis of this move, ie. taking away the hoarding events, should be done at a broader level. Comparisons between pre-change availability of rewards and post-change, as a whole, is needed before judging how this piece fits in the puzzle.

I don't think it's really hoarding when we used to have an event for two days every week. Right now I can upgrade the Protector and Vindicator and get no additional rewards for doing so. They don't score in the ship upgrade events because they use specialised parts. A couple of months ago I would have waited for the weekend to tier them up and got shards or depot tokens at the same time. What I've chosen to do now that I have the freedom to spend without incentives is not to spend - it's having the opposite effect, at least on me

So, my alliance today organized for a first Surge test.
We had 40 players in the same system, and we did a Surge.
Conclusion:
Once more, a dead on arrival feature that mainly serves as an excuse for cashgrabbing G7 players a little more.
The lag was worse than back when we had 300+ ships in a territory takeover.
The rewards are disappointing at best (75 surge fragments, 300 needed for a single chest containing 2/3 stuff that I do not need anymore).
On top: only one player in our alliance was able to start one of these surges.

Organizing 40 people to the same timeslot for being able to run the event once and the „rewards“ once more being more than disappointing - that needs MAJOR reworks if you want us to keep doing surges.
Make the rewards so players can at least pull 1 chest from 1 surge, or we‘re just not going to bother organizing these.

This arc/G7 launch has been 1 big failure from scopleys side. Constant missing events for G7, I don't think they know how to QA test their stuff before launch 😅

This is a cop out for the real reason and really reaching for a reason as removing resources from lower ops is a reward for them. If there were strategy, the other pieces of the puzzle as you mention would have been figured out before removing these events. Instead, lower ops got Ortegas shards and choice tokens removed. It’s solely design intent to frustrate and convince folks to push ops to hit paywalls. These resource management games even this one disguised as a war game have always incentivized strategic spending of resources which you are confusing with hoarding. The normal design is to milk the resources then run another event soon after to encourage spending. Instead, scopely has decided to just say you can’t even participate. It’s just bad and short sighted design.

What they are waiting to figure out is how many people pushed ops to 45 because of the changes and who will push into g5 next month when they raise the bar again and how that impacts short term revenues. That is the evaluation being done, not preventing “hoarding” and slowing progression or whatever puzzle you are talking about. Just call it what it is. No need to act as if the changes are being done in good faith.

I’m not upset about it, just trying not to be gaslit here. I still enjoy playing the game and will be left behind as I’m not pushing g5 next month and will see if I continue to enjoy the game.

I‘m afraid „Good faith“ doesnt earn enough money, at least not short term. And short term is all Scopely is looking for, chasing the next short term raise in sales and income, until the cash cow is dead, at which point it will be dropped and replaced by the next cash cow they can milk dead, like Pokemon Go.
That may not go for all employees of Scopely or affiliates, but it certainly goes for the people calling the shots.

Propose relinquishing a psychologically forced/coerced sales opportunity in favor of the players? You‘ll be laughed at. Income is key, players are tolerated because they pay.

Sadly thats not just a Scopely thing but an industry issue that will eventually lead to a collapse of the big game makers, followed by a reformation from indie bottom up. Well, hopefully so.

Classic tone deaf dev response here. See it all the time in multiplayer games. Translation: “we don’t like the way you’re playing our game, so we changed the game. You have to play our way or no way”

This game was built on fomo and saving mats for events so you could score new officer shards or a chunk of syndicate xp. Compete with others for your rewards. Players were taught and encouraged to play the game this way for years. Suddenly they want to change it, but only for low level players. This new system doesn’t even encourage new and low level players to ops up, because when they get to 45 they’ll be missing the key officers they need to succeed, much less as any new meta officers get added to the game.

G3/g4 have been made less rewarding to play, and a wall has put up in front of g5. In response to the complaints you’re telling us we don’t understand or see the big picture, but the devs have said they were going to add focused content for g3/g4, not take it away. That’s why people are mad, and you (and the devs) are ignoring the real underlying cause of the consternation here.

It's a loop restricted by building level, and not enough will allow the melter to bleed hull at the beginning of every round. Double pulling building mats can help, but you just need to reach those breakpoints that nullify the melter completely. The hostile regular guns start at like 16m damage so you should try to crew it down fast in the first round.

It's hard for 45s, much of the newest loops are tuned to be, and might be worth saving this loop for later. There are better loops to push, like the DTI or Reliant ones, and that might be more accessible for you.

I just moved up 4 Ops levels, taking advantage of weekend events. Now I find myself at level 52 & unable to fairly participate in ANY SLB. How is it fair to put 52s competing with all Ops levels up to 70??? That is insane and takes away all competitiveness. Why is it that brackets aren't being used, 50s then 60s, etc? Went to G5 and almost quit the game due to event brackets. so instead of quitting i rushed to ops 60 and stayed there as it was top end and now stayed here.

So many ops 61-65 players have very weak accounts becasue they never can win any events and get no new content that gets released, ops 66 when they get a rare ship start to get some sort of chance of winning something but still not winning big

even transogen, ops 61-65 cannot farm the Rare hostiles effectively because most dont have enough hazard resistance so they cant upgrade any artifacts

There's a little bit for the building in this battlepass. Yes, they are quite strong. You could try max fort + cerritos, but honestly at the amount of loot they drop, it's not that helpful. The aggregate hostiles don't appear to have iso or apex, but they do have a very large amount of damage. I can sometimes get one, that's it. Many are hitting down with them. Also, the recon locus building does not provide more hyperthermic stabilizer at every level. Mine is at 23 and doesn't really help much.

Developing alliances won't be winning events, if there aren't any for them to win. The surge mechanic appears to favor a single high level player with lower level players participating, as only one is required to start. Then there's the server ascention decision, which is nothing more than pressure to get more people to ops up. The code has to already be there and integrated, resources provisioned. It's Scopely's decision to make it that way, but it is basically made to make people feel left out (which I don't).

In any case, segmentation matters in some events like auctions. Other events, tight segmentation just isn't needed. To me, there's a massive amount of potential difference between a 60 and and 60. If that is acceptable, then surely a strong 55 and a weak 65 might overlap enough. Even if a 53 has to put in twice or thrice the effort of a 70, that's close enough for the cube event. I don't think that's what's required though, since we're going after the same dominion 60s.

Having 51-60 and 61-80 inside the same bracket with only top 10 winning some building parts is very poor.

This is the same event scoring as the last time they ran this event, but now it's part of another SMS milestone tie to it. It has the same problems as before where it shows up for an Ops 45 player who does not have access to the ships needed to do the SMS. At that level, you have to have a higher tiered Reliant that players don't have to even do it or faction ships that are ops locked. It's a big foul to have a sub-event like this that is not doable by players.

Getting reports from people in my alliance with the utility belt event, saying it's not giving the proper credit. They use 1900 duterium canisters, which are supposed to give 14 pts per canister, and they only get 3800 points for the event. I see nothing about this in #🛠-known-issues

Very much depends on the situation. Sometimes adami can nuke multiple ships with annoying abilities, and unlike Harrison will continue to do so until r3.
MU is near useless if you can’t survive for long, which is usually the case punching up.

Arena I haven’t done in a few weeks hoping like allaince tournaments you would fix it. But here I am in arena not able to move. Not able to hit hostiles. Not able to start armadas. Borg cube stuck. Ports into the arena system then is back at base. Then send again and again. Then one min later my Borg ship is in the middle of the system and gets shot. I noticed match ups not so bad. But game play is terrible.. I’ll give up and try in a month as a couple weeks doesn’t seem to cut it.

I think it may be more nuanced. The new store items may be master legaue only. The blank 10k tasks may be g7 only. Neither are showing for everyone. So, whomever added them did so differently, causing them to disappear if they're "not for you".

A test for that would be removing the new items and see if these issues go away. Or even just comparing the items. I would say check the internal logs, but I suspect they are either turned off, or incorrectly set up (otherwise they would be full all the time).

This should have been noticed if it was ran on a test instance, but that only works if you use the same code as a real one. A modified instance to test on is useless.
